For years in the city of Dominus genetically altered slaves have served the needs of man. But now they're rising up, now they're fighting back, they're becoming more than slaves...

1,882 readers have visited Ascension since gururumon916 created it.

Introduction

The Fall of Man and the Rise of Dominus

The world is broken, the human race is all but dead, but one shining city floats above the Earth. Dominus City, the last haven for humanity is not exactly as noble as it would appear. I suppose, I should start from the beginning, back in the days of prosperity when humanity flourished... The sheer idea of billions of humans living on this planet sounds so outlandish... As I was saying, man was always finding new ways to kill himself, nobody really knows who, but someone. created a living, thinking, virus.

Now, this virus was supposed to be the ultimate weapon, a biological weapon that could be controlled and kill a specified target. But of course something went horribly wrong, the virus began turning living organisms into these creatures controlled by a single hive mind. With one goal, assimilate all organic life and that they did, well almost. And they would have, if it wasn't for Project Haven, basically all of the world leaders, the essentials for a thriving society, and anyone with enough money's apocalypse failsafe.

And so was born what would become Dominus City, as the entire world was assimilated they sat on their floating paradise. But when everything went dark, when they realized, they were all that was left, The World Leaders, The Corporate Giants they forged one government simply known as, Sovereign. They named their city Dominus, and soon it expanded, and it thrived, and it became a metropolis. Then again, there was a problem, although machines did most of the labor the people were lazy and artificial intelligence wasn't exactly thriving, they began working with genetic engineering.

And after about 30 years of research, they began producing, for lack of a better term superhuman slaves. Kept in line by obedience collars bonded to their very genetic code. They are taught from their first sentient thought their only purpose is to serve. And those who rebel, and refuse to serve are sent to The Colosseum and forced to fight each other for the amusement of the citizens of Dominus City. From what I see, the servants of Dominus will be it's downfall, you can only keep power in check so long...

The Inner Workings of Dominus and it's People

The Architecture

Dominus City is a shining metropolis, a wonder of architecture. There are small suburban and agriculture areas, but most of the city is metropolitan. Dominus is home to the most comprehensive surveillance system in the history of man. Due to this system crime is hard to come by, unless that crime is committed by those
who control the surveillance of course. And then there's The Slums, under Dominus City is a small settlement supposedly founded by military personnel and their families who managed to sneak on to Dominus. The Slums is shut off from the rest of the city, as the citizens of Dominus think those who dwell in The Slums are nothing but vagrants and criminals.

The Slaves

Genetically altered humanoids commonly referred to as enhanced workers are divided into three models

Obsolete: The obsolete workers were the very first genetically altered creatures that used Homo sapiens as a base species. The simplest slaves these creatures were created by splicing traits of different species into Homo DNA. They were considered a resounding failure, for their mental instability and ineffectiveness as workers, compared to today’s models. Considered abominations most were destroyed, this being before the days of the obedience collars. Some are still alive in The Slums today.

Standard: The standard model of enhanced worker, they have their limits, but are effective nonetheless. They can only have one enhancement, usually calling for hiring multiple workers in larger efforts, but are the largest population of enhanced sapiens in Dominus.

Experimental: The newest model of enhanced worker, they are still unfinished and not many have been created. But recent demand has forced a test trial in which prototypes have been exported to The Colosseum, construction sites, and a few home trials. They are the most powerful enhanced worker having abilities that can be applied to many different situations. The one fatal flaw of these new prototypes is durability; their bodies can't handle too much exertion of their abilities resulting in a fatal brain hemorrhage.

The life of these unfortunate people is not a pleasant one. They are born physically thirteen years of age with a full understanding of multiple languages. They are not given names, but 10-digit serial numbers any name they have is self-given, or given by whoever employs them. They go through programming, a training process that takes roughly three months. Then the new batch of enhanced workers is distributed to whoever wants them. Nearly every facet of their environment tells them that they are nothing but tools to make the people of Dominus's lives easier, and they come to believe it. As it is the only thing they've ever known, and those who don't believe are too scared to do anything because they are afraid they'll be taken away to The Colosseum. They have no rights and aren't considered human whatever their owners do to them is entirely up to them resulting in many emotionally scarred workers. There are the lucky ones,
those who become replacements to couples that have lost children, or just all around good-hearted people, but this is very rare. Sovereign has placed multiple safety precautions regarding the enhanced worker. The first being the obedience collar, a device around the necks of every enhanced worker it is the tool in which all enhanced workers are controlled. If the obedience collar was to be removed, that in itself being difficult it will cause the wearer to go into immediate cardiac arrest. The second is the transceiver, a device that communicates directly to the obedience collar. Carried by most military personnel, it can cause unconsciousness or death. There is also a feature that negates all access to abilities. The transceiver has two settings, short range which affects all obedience collars within a certain radius. And long range which works kind of like a projectile with a point and shoot mechanism. The third and most powerful of these precautions is The Kill Switch, stationed in undisclosed location, only to be used in a full revolt it will kill every single enhanced worker in Dominus if used.

The Knight of Sovereign

Using the same technology as the enhanced worker program, these soldiers make up an elite and secretive part of the Sovereign military. These very proud men and women are taught almost the exact opposite of their counterparts. They are taught that they are far superior to any common worker. And that they are the sole upholders of truth and justice in Dominus. And just as their counterparts come to believe they are tools, they come to believe they are knights, whose sacred duty is to protect the good people of Dominus. Many of them are stationed at the Colosseum disguised as average guards, as they are the only ones that could go head to head with an enhanced worker, without the use of a transceiver.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is the constant reminder, that much of Dominus has indulged in humanities darker desires. The Colosseum is a very large entertainment center, based on the appeal of watching two super powered contestants eviscerate each other. The justifications for this travesty, being that most see the enhanced as inhuman. Therefore their lives aren’t worth that of normal humans. The Colosseum is an intricate system, designed to keep the citizens of Dominus safe from the so-called dangerous radicals that lay within. The entire building emits the same signal as a transceiver, shutting down the part of the brain that controls the enhanced workers abilities, with the exception of the arena of course. The holding block is the place where all of the arena fighters are held. Their cells are specially designed for their abilities. They do have the ability to speak to each-other, if their behavior is on par. The Colosseum is very similar to a pre-virus baseball game, except with a bloody battle instead of a good spirited game. They have stands of cheering crowds, even snack vendors. There are children and families just like any other sporting event. The arena is filled with artificial sand to simulate the feeling of being in Ancient Rome. The seating is much like any stadium, with seating clusters, and stairways dividing them. And of course, a military grade electromagnetic barrier surrounds the arena to protect onlookers from the terrorists who provide their entertainment.

He waited a while before walking off she clearly was to busy researching to pay him any attention. He figured he’d make sure ant man had his needs met. I stepped in to the only prisoner he had doubt about being able to completely tank. He stepped in front of H.A.D.E.S. cell. “Are you ready for today’s games Ant… They’ll begin soon as the testing is finished and McGregor finishes the prep work for everything.” He looked at the infected individuals around him. “You know… if it wasn’t for orders you’d be the first bug I stepped on every morning… you sick disgusting monster…”

As HADES continued his song the doors slid open and he stopped but continued to mentally dominate the other infected to keep the beat but with a quick thought stopped it all together when James spoke of stomping on HADES. "Ho ho ho ha ho ho he ho ha aha ha, and I thought my jokes were bad. Well tell me Aryan lap dog" he says the laughing part slow and singular in a mock dry tone, he rises up and approaches the barrier that blocks the two so that it seems like there looking eye to eye "Why don't you, as you say Stomp on Us." HADES added the last word with the entire hive saying stomp on us at the same time. HADES mouth widened to a malicious grin and his eyes narrows in a happy yet sick and scary way when combined with his wide and thin smile " And of course I'm ready to brutally slaughter your kind en masse as you and your Soveriegn Dunces sit atop your high horse scheming double standard moralitys." taking a pause to let it sink in "I do however find a jolly good time when you send these types after me" HADES points his head to the cell to his right where inside contains a small 11 year old girl who looks like she's in tremendous pain as she clutches her head and bangs it against the wall.

“Joke? I’ve taken down projects just like you… supposed super weapons that just didn’t work out…” He smirked when he quoted the Joker from a movie that only roughly hung in James’ mind. “You know very well in a fair fight I’d win… and don’t forget that… once Sovereign gets tired of you… you’ll be on the chopping block…” His eyes glanced towards the little girl. “What… are you doing to her? STOP IT!” or I will cut you down where you feet defile the ground…” He spoke his voice raising in anger as his wires shimmered in the air. “I will not tolerate this…”

(Fanta's Post)

H8's face twitched slightly in response to the fully grown enhanced worker that had just fainted before her; a tiny change in expression that seemed to indicate some small amusement. She could not be sure of the exact cause of this, whether it was simply the sight of the needle or an internal stimulus being difficult to determine, "Let's just say it was a random nerve impulse released from your obedience collar, hmm?" She said to the unconscious man quietly, her tone somewhat chiding but maintaining composure as she took his limp arm and extracted the sample carefully. Blood trickled into the vial, she humming to herself once more softly as it reached sufficient volume and removed the needle. The woman detached the filled test tube, now sealed, and unshouldered a medium sized case, opening it simultaneously. The sample was placed in the appropriate compartment and labeled with Luther's serial number, something which she had memorized from the computer for all occupants. Finally she looked around her quickly, checking for any unwelcome eyes before removing a band aid from her pocket and placing it on the small wound left behind. This was not part of the set procedure and she had 'acquired' the band aids from an unauthorized visit to the sick room. Needless to say, she did not wish the guards to take note of this behavior.

This procedure was repeated with every cell occupant, some reluctant whilst others did not mind or were too weak to protest. Finally she approached the other human computer, the one able to stand and offered a hand to receive his arm, "I will meet with you providing I remember this beyond 'Room 101'... The question is where." She whispered discretely. Her existence was a lonely one and she found it pleasing to be around another of high intelligence who wasn't a veiled slave driver. If and when she was able to take the sample she would unceremoniously exit the cell with the assistance of the posted guards. CAS felt somewhat uncomfortable and perhaps a touch guilty as she saw the barrier raise between herself and the other enhanced; The other prisoners. To her the divide was not just physical but suppressed these notions, instead beginning a cautious approach of ZAR's cell. He was the next to be sampled but she would require assistance from Lieutenant she had ignored not five minutes ago. She did not appreciate being referred to by her serial number, especially from one whom had tried to convince her of his belief of equality beforehand. H8 heard improvised and less than pleasing music emanate from the same direction she had observed the 'Hand of Death' heading and followed it under the pretense of requiring assistance for the task. She did not care to admit it was more to do with seeing whom was singing.

It did not take her long to reach Project H.A.D.E.S and the numerous infected surrounding him; the recombinant and the Knight in some kind of over-powered, perhaps testosterone fueled stand-off. This sight was interesting but not alarming to her, instead what concerned H8 was the 11 year old infected human bashing her skull against a wall. Her heart beat a little faster but forced her panic into submission, utilizing her analytical mind. It was apparent that the visible pain experienced by the child was directly controlled by HADES, some kind of link between the virus in his veins and hers. However she found this was not an immediately feasible link to sever, instead focusing on his controlling mechanism for this. It was a conscious action and its speed appeared high. Therefore it was controlled by his nervous system, CAS ran to the console beside the cell. She knew that an electrical shock of significant magnitude would be capable of temporarily stopping this action, already hacking her way to the appropriate systems with as much speed as her collar hindered brain could manage. The problem was what magnitude to use. Too low and it may not do anything or worse; it could prompt increased torture. Too high and they could both die or be injured. H8 calculated the voltage required, taking into account as many variables her mind could currently handle. After a moment she settled on a magnitude, hesitating a moment before the rhythmic drumming of the girls head against the wall prompted her to act. A few quick key strokes and a controlled electrical bolt surges through HADES' body, hopefully of a suitable size.

Michael looked at H8 as she came close. "I will meet with you, providing I remember this beyond 'Room 101'. . . the question is where." Michael immediately raised his head at the mention of 'Room 101' and he caught the woman's arm to prevent her from leaving when she turned to go.

"Room 101, the memory erase chamber? Memory wipe commenced by direct database access?" By database he clearly meant 'brain' but that was not the matter at hand. What was at hand however was that Michael was manufacturing a computer virus that would be compatible with the neurons in an individuals brain. If H8's general response meant 'yes' a small cord meant to plug into the port in the roof of the organic computer's mouths slithered from his arm. He grasped it and discreetly handed it to her.

"Details cannot be explained at this time" He whispered "Simply use it. All other matters will take care of themselves." Should H8 accept and plug the cord in she would feel a rush of binary code which immediately rushed to some recess of her mind where it would not affect her and where it could not be affected itself. Once the code had been exchanged Michael took the cord from her mouth and it slid back into his bionic arm.

The virus was that of the Trojan variety. Hidden and inaccessible until 'awoken' by something. In this case, the virus was designed to lie in wait until H8 was under the knife in 'Room 101' again. It was a rather ingenious plan. The cyborg's eyes swiveled about, not looking at her anymore, though they had been affixed to her face when the data exchange was taking place. He let go of her arm and whispered one last comment.

"Ensure you are plugged into to room 101 at some point. By any means, at all costs." He stepped back away from her and slid down the wall again and began to recite a random string of numbers.

Amalia straightened, wiping the tiny beads of sweat that had accumulated from her forehead. Karash made another note on the chart, but when she moved to attend the next one, he spoke.

"You should rest. Too much of this and you won't have enough left later." His tone was stern, but she smiled all the same. He was always looking out for her, even if he never said so in as many words. Sometimes, she wondered how she'd gotten by without him. Actually, the answer was fairly apparent; she'd fainted a lot more back then.

"You're right I suppose," she replied sadly, the smile disappearing as she gazed down the line of beds. Several of those present were sleeping fitfully; a few had even needed to be tied down to prevent their thrashing from further damaging themselves. Frankly, she wasn't sure if this was a good thing or not. The longer they stayed in the sick bay, the longer it was before they had to fight their next match, after all.

Karash was staring her down, and she knew without asking that he understood exactly what she was thinking. Without another word, he turned and strode out the door, correctly assuming that she would follow after giving the supplies another check-over. Actually, that was odd: she could have sworn there were more bandages here yesterday... a glance at her inventory sheet confirmed it. Maybe the Lieutenant had taken some? She had never seen him or any of the other Knights down here; usually it was just herself, Karash, and the nurses, but... she made a notation on the sheet, so that it would appear as though she'd used the bandages today. Whomever it was, they need not get in trouble for such a small matter as forgetting to sign out their supplies.

McGregor, back in his office at the end of the hall, shut the door behind him. His head sagged until he was staring at the floor. From the threshold between the cells and the offices traded a smooth, worn and dingy concrete floor for a firm, worn and dingy industrial carpet - colored dark grey to mostly obscure the strange stains everywhere. McGregor closed his eyes halfway and blurred his vision until the stains were invisible among the surrounding tight grey knots of fiber, leaning back on the closed door.

He was that way for thirty or forty dragging seconds, before he straightened himself, washing back to reality. As the eight-and-a-half paces across the room and around the desk took him to his chair, he grabbed the phone from his pocket and punched a few buttons.

"Four messages," said the androgynous voice over the phone.

"List," replied Mcgregor.

"One: Yesterday, 20:04 - Dr. Thete...
"Two: Yesterday, 22:31 - Lieutenant Oleo...
"Three: This morning, 05:08 - Public phone #3486 - L...-"

"Play Three."

A peculiar pause persisted for a moment at the beginning of the message, wind and traffic passing through the earpiece. Then a man’s deep sandpaper voice came: "The sun rises earlier down there, you know, on Earth. It’s risin’ right now. Still dark up here for another couple hours, I’d say." A breath bounced and seethed out of the speaker’s voice, an eruption that may have been laughter. "Too dark up here." The line clicked into silence.

McGregor sat still, his eyes scrunched as if someone had just sneezed into his face.

"Replay message?"

McGregor disconnected the line, and started in on some paperwork.

HADES smirked as James threatened him. "Kill me? You wouldn't want to kill me. She's alive because of me. Unless you want the mental backlash to destroy any semblance of humanity left in her" he said having a small grin on his face. The grin however was soon destroyed when a surge of electricity coursed through his body. His cool and composed figure was broken by his arms spazing out and his head shaking in pain. It reflected with his minions due to them all screaming and howling in pain. Some did what the girl did and banged there hands screaming, a little more then half turned out much MUCH worse. Some slashed there own flesh with half mutated hands, others ripped there bottom lips off or other parts of there heads, and the worse of them all morphed half way to full and charged forward and electrocuted themselves numerous times trying to go into a bezerker rampage. HADES regained his posture, stumbling slightly. " I have no idea what the hell you just did, but to what you said earlier if you kill me the immense backlash will make what you saw here look like a happy rainbow with doves. Do not test me whelp, these gates cannot hold me as well as you think they can...." he says grimly before flicking his left wrist and the small girl Noe rolling in a ball, her arms wrapped around her legs, repeatedly whispering "He see's all, he knows all, he devours all......." to herself. "Go ahead and help her though, you are 'The Law' around here, you could easily open the gate." HADES said to the Knight.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Well this was fun while it lasted, so no chance of revival on this thing or has the creator himself buried the coffin on this thing?

Re: [OOC] Ascension

I would like it to be known that whenever someone details the events of the next time H8 ends up in 'room 101' I need to detail what will happen so don't go wiping H8's memory whenever that post comes about. ;) I've got a nice little surprise in store for any incoming memory-wipers.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

*coughs* Fanta would like you to know... "I heard that and that I'm not the only one who disappears at important points..."

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Yeah that's a basic thing about Fanta. She always dissapears when you need her most. But repays by spamming well thought out posts to catch up.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

I'll edit my own post when I can, but on another note.

Fanta will be unable to post due to computer/login issues if you wanted to know why she was inactive.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

The reason why I dropped that block of text instead of leading it out is because I was and still am 99% sure this RP is on the verge of death/getting dangerously close so why not drop a big finale for it. Also jut because it's all in one post doesn't mean it's happening simulatenously. He can still react to it, he's not some dead corpse lying there he's a real living breathing person. That's why people can reply and sometimes cut others off mid sentence in RP's. The point is James is supposed to be a real human (Mutant thing) and every human reacts to things. My post, the basic fundamental of sadism in RP's, was that you cooperate and tag along.

Edit: But fine I'm cutting half the post away from the other half *grumbles and walks over to Ascension activity wih a machete*

Re: [OOC] Ascension

He himself isn’t that fast physically… his wires however move at the speed of light besides his wires he is pretty much an above average human, if you can get the drop on him, or deliver a decent blow he’s screwed as he is all offense. The reason he could strike through the barriers is his wires are made of energy, and thus if he applies a certain amount of energy into said wires he can pierce the fields though this also applies if someone can deliver a equal or greater amount of energy they could in fact disrupt his wires.

You should have broken it into two posts lead Jacob in more. As when its one post, especially one block of text its instantly implied that everything is happening right after each other. Breaking it into a first post and then a response means each thing is happening at a relative time. As a player to be a sadist you need to draw it out. You need to attempt to get the optimum amount of suffering or at least emotion from each action in which you wish to be a sadist in. When being a sadist on a role-play you can’t afford long posts that jump through interactions or it ruins the experience and effect.

As an answer to why a sadist wouldn’t use a gun.. Please refer to the most commonly known and most bad___ sadist in Gotham city and he whom is acting as your avatar the Joker… the joker used knifes for a reason… their much slower… using a gun you shoot someone… your going to end up killing them rather fast… a knife… you could deal a few thousand slits first… wouldn’t kill them… if its only skin deep… still going to hurt like ____.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Wh-wha-wait how does James even go through the electric barrier? Does his wires move faster then the barriers can be constantly sent up? Fighting him after and mid escape is going to be fucking impossible if he can move that fast (And have wires that sharp and strong) unless this is just Worf effect......

P.S: What about bullets? You said you have to take your time to deliver pain yet a bullet to the shoulder is fast and will give you a shit ton of pain. Then shoot him again in the other shoulder for more pain before he bleeds out.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

That was the entire point of her flailing around a bit, it was for James to try and help her and then she would recoil away go to the corner and hiss at him. If that had happened like I expected you to post then it would have turned out alot more grim. She didn't say anything she just did things so I was hoping that I wouldn't have to god mod and just let James fill in the blanks otherwise what you said would require chat.

Edit: Thats also why she was a girl so that his Chivalry would kick in and try to help the girl causing ^ to happen.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Now that's scary. Glad sadists aren't that common.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Eh… HADES really isn’t that sadistic… if he was… he’d make him feel bad… or want to try and help the girl first… and then show him how helpless… how futile his attempts were… you toy with your prey first… and then you deliver the strike… your went directly for the strike. Sadists enjoy other’s pain… something quick… isn’t a good way to generate pain. You have to make sure it hurts them.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Huh I guess I got a bit carried away with the Sadist part of H.A.D.E.S. oh well so long as James mind is fucked with enough i'll be happy.

It's fine. Real life is more important than roleplaying. :)

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Screw real life, all its done is force me to be hungry and limit my flight abilitys to plummeting slightly slower then a bowling ball.

I've been a little busy with my real life actually for the past week or so...

Re: [OOC] Ascension

Well I’m waiting on Fanta who seems to be waiting for Guru who hasn’t been on for like twelve days…

Re: [OOC] Ascension

COME ON PEOPLE POST ALREADY! FOUR DAYS! YEESH!

Re: [OOC] Ascension

He has not logged on in seven days, presume he did not resist and for the sake of being able to continue with out him just say he fainted until Guru returns.

Re: [OOC] Ascension

I sure as hell hope not... It's bad enough having it blaring on the radio every five minutes in this time period! Speaking of time, our merciful GM hasn't posted in a while and I'm frankly getting a little annoyed being stuck waiting for his reply.
