Personality: CAS is, by the nature of her enhancements inquisitive, sometimes her curiosity and hunger for knowledge leading her into less than favourable situations. She always thinks in a logical, scientific manner even at times where this would seem inappropriate, suppressing any emotional response and often her manner of explaining things making her appear cold. This, however, is not true as H8 is kind and sees all life as equal though this view has emerged more from her study and knowledge of science than any empathy. Years of isolation have left her I want of some social skills, often coming off as rude and having most memories of previous social interactions erased from her impressive memory once a month is unhelpful to this at the best of times. She is surprisingly creative and has an interest, or perhaps possible aptitude, in music as a consequence of enhancing the mathematical parts of her brain and is not without a sense of humour.

History

Reason for being in the Colosseum: Research into the success of standard and obsolete models for the improvement of future enhanced workers and to ‘teach H8 a lesson’ as to what the consequences of disobedience are.

Bio/History: UTLO006431 was created for the specific purpose of assisting in the developing, conducting and analysing of experiments performed by Dominus’ scientists. As such she was engineered in a somewhat ‘custom’ fashion, an increase in intellect hardly being normal for standard enhanced workers and considered dangerous by some. It was thought the more highly developed cognitive abilities could make disobedience and rebellion more likely as well as access to high level research posing a security risk. To combat this they installed a ‘defect’ into her genetic code, the nerve fibres of her heart weakened and altered so that she would be far more susceptible to obedience collars. In addition, she was given implants to allow a machine to wipe her memory of ‘irrelevant’ information. It was reasoned this would make it less likely for her to disobey with this increased risk and was created for a Dr. Hiltz.

CAS, as she was soon nicknamed after an old model of calculator, was originally assigned to assist in the research of Dr. Hiltz who was attempting to theorize and develop methods of the future retaking of the Earth. She quickly proved a valuable assistant, her intellect perhaps rivaling that of her apparent master which led to his putting down of CAS on a regular basis out of his arrogance. She developed good dexterity through the precise movements required in the using of much of the scientific equipment after an accident for which she was threatened with liquidation, not wanting to risk it again. One of the other scientists was somewhat nostalgic, his quarters littered with old books and she would sometimes be required to visit him there to bring the results of some recent experiment or new discovery to his attention. In these times her curiosity proved too great and would secretly ‘borrow’ one of these books from time to time, her eidetic memory allowing her to absorb the information swiftly and replace them soon enough to avoid suspicion.

Unfortunately once a month CAS was taken to undergo a mandatory wiping of memories that were deemed unessential to her function in a place she eventually dubbed ‘Room 101’. This would strip her of much of the concepts and ideals taken from her ‘studies’ as well as anything learnt from social interactions though also the knowledge of the room and its function. However after just under a year and half one such procedure had a malfunction unknown to the scientists resulting in her remembering the room and how the device therein was operated by them. Before her next wipe she manage to break into it and alter the programming to be less severe in what it considered unessential to her function, able to retain some of the information from her readings.

2 years ago the research into the future retaking of the Earth was deemed to be of a lesser importance, its budget and resources cut and re-assigned. CAS was considered one of these resources and moved to the area of the development in new models of enhanced workers, as much of her former research included genetics. A larger scale memory wipe was carried out to remove knowledge of any previous research not relevant to her new task but was able to once again save some of her personal memories. Still, many were lost. Her new ‘master’ was even less likeable than Dr. Hiltz, more knowledgeable of her devious nature and constantly watching her. She was given the name H8 after a computing system and treated as such, Dr. Thete trying to strip her of what humanity she had. Recently for some small disobedience she was sent to conduct research on enhanced workers in the Colosseum to see what could become of her if she behaved this way again as well as gain useful data.
