I used to listen to my grandmothers stories of her own great great great grandmothers stories, such fairytales she spun! Of this world, The world of Athera...like that there was a giant orb in the sky, one that shed light. But I do not believe that. The sky for a long time has been covered by this mist, I asked her once if she believed her grandmother. She said no. Of course she didn't, she also told me the tales of the three races of Paravians. Of those fantastical creatures. Of the Rathain paravians... the unicorns that dancecd with nature and were the purest and most direct connection to Ath. And the Ilitharis Paravian… centaurs that crafted weapons that no mortal can replicate that were taller than two men and stronger than ten! finally...my favorite were Athlian Paravians the sunchildren. they were a small race...pixie like but were keepers of the grand mysteries and possessed great wisdom. They were my favorite because they also loved music.
However she also told of the time before there was such a thing as Townsborn and Clansmen fighting. That before there was five High Kings that ruled under Paravian laws. But...a rebellion happened and the Royal lines were forced to flee. The people who followed the Royals were...well forced out of their homes into the woods and wilds to live and wait...wait for their return. For the High Kings fled through a World gate to another world. The Townsborn took over and they rule with the governors and mayors.
She also said that around this time is when this mist came that cloaks the world to these muted colors. That it came out of a place not of this world. That there used to be things called...stars and things grew healthy and strong, that the stench of mildew didn’t cling to everything and that this mist didn’t chill you to the bone. I...know these are just tales, but I would like to believe that this is true….I would love to see stars.

The clansmen would like you to believe that there were these nigh immortal beings called Paravians that could shape the world and that the world was better under the ‘High kings’. I will tell you this is not true. The Kings were corrupt and could not be trusted. They would not allow us to hunt without their permission, we could not own land to grow our crops. Ath’s sake I hear we could not even cut down certain or make a dam without these so called Paravians permission.
The clansmen are barbarians and rob our caravans, killing and slaughtering innocent lives. They must be stopped, life is hard enough in our cities with the crimes and petty squabbles. To them we are just prey to be killed. They hunt us down and so we do the same to protect ourselves.
I have heard the talk of this so called orb of light in the sky, it does not exist now and it never did back then. This Mist is not otherworldly it is just here as it has always been, we strive to live and the clans strive to take it away our life. We must be more vigilant and keep our people safe from them.

It has been two hundred years since the fall of the High Kings. Of the coming of the mist that cloaks Athera making life here hard to live. The tension is still very much alive in Athera. Clansmen are killing Townsborn in their raids and Townsborn are hunting Clansmen with Headhunters who get a hefty reward for their scalps. No one remembers the son and it has faded, like the Paravians, into a myth that bards tell in tavarans.
In Ettra as usual the Clansmen are in wait at the forest to attack. And the Townsmen ready the caravans for trade, hiring guards to protect them.
Oh yes tension is very much alive. For what a few do not know is that their lives will be change. Be it through minor acts or great ones is up to them. Some may find the side they are on unbearable. Some may find that they do not wish to fight anymore...but fight they must to survive. Their lives are about to take an unexpected turn. What friends they have may turn on them. Those with and without magic will very soon find out what it means to fight for survival. They may even see things of legends in the corner of their eye.

All it takes is one step to start this journey, for good or for ill. May Dharkaron be merciful on their spirits and may Daelion not steer them wrong.
