Introduction
Hi everyone! I've been away from RPG for a little bit due to rather annoying circumstances (namely college =.=). So for my semi-grand return I thought I'd try something a little different. This RP is going to be a sort of fusion between an RP and a writing game. The players will still be writing the parts from their character's perspective as normal, but each week one randomly selected person will have to post a theme or event for that week. This could be an enemy assault, an interesting discovery, or simply a period of social talks between players. But at the end of each and every week the theme changes, whether people are ready for it or not. This should prevent the RP from becoming stale but also enable players to add their own interesting twists and turns to it. So without further ado I suppose I should get down to the actual RP.
It is the 41st Millennium, a dark time of eternal warfare which knows no peace. The vast armies of the Imperium of Mankind are beset on all sides by aliens, monsters and heretics too numerous to count. His soldiers fight across millions of worlds in a battle for domination of the galaxy.
But they are not alone in this task. The endless void between planets and star systems is endlessly patrolled by the unflinching captains of the Imperial Navy. These vast starships are one of the most important strategic resources possessed by the Imperium. Without them it's armies would be trapped with no hope of resupply, there would be no force to protect worlds from pirate raids, and expansion would be impossible.
The ships themselves can be centuries old, bristling with guns, thick hull plating, and powerful void shields. Their captains, hardened in the crucible of battle, know their ships intimately- many of them treat them as though they were living creatures. And in some respects they are. The ships are possessed of Machine Spirits, and their mood can greatly affect the running of the ship. For example, an angry spirit will make the ship harder to maneuver but it's gun batteries will be slightly more accurate, or function smoother and faster.
You are the Captain of such a vessel. Tasked with hunting the enemies of Man through the depths of space, and bringing his armies to new worlds. You could have worked your way up through the ranks, or perhaps you have a noble heritage and bought your captaincy. It matters not in the end. Those fit for the command will be met with success. Those who aren't will quickly show it in their shortcomings.
Currently your Battlegroup, Battlefleet Arcadia, has been anchored in the Ultima Macharium star system. This region lies between the Eye of Terror and the Halo Zone, and as such is prey to all kinds of Xenos and pirate raids (both Eldar and Chaos).
What adventures await you none can say, for this far out on the galactic plane you must forge your own destiny. May you weave a great tapestry of victory and triumph in the Emperor's name.
Now for the necessary requirements.
Characters:
All characters must be human, Imperial, and at least outwardly non-heretical. Players can play any class of ship with certain limitations which will be explained now.
There is no limit to the number of standard Imperial captains, but the ships are limited as follows:
0-1 Emperor class battleship
0-1 Oberon class battleship
0-1 Apocalypse class battleship
0-2 Avenger class grand cruisers
0-2 Vengeance class grand cruisers
0-2 Exorcist class grand cruisers
0-4 Armageddon class battlecruisers
There is no limit to the number of Light Cruisers that may be played.
A quick note on escorts: in the event that you want to play one just write the one bio for the squadron commander and then give orders to the other two ships in your squadron during the RP.
I will also allow one Space Marine character and one Adeptus Mechanicus character. They may pick any ship class for their respective races.
All of these allocations are first come, first served. It is worth checking out the rules for the ships (links at bottom of page) just to see how they compare and what their limitations are. Also please use the rules to allocate armaments/upgrades to your particular ship.
Now for character profiles the necessary information is:
Captain's name-
Gender-
Age-
Appearance-
Personality-
Ship name-
Ship class-
Armaments-
Crew competence(good/average/poor)-
Ship colour-
Brief history of captaincy-
Anything else you wish to include-
Now for the bit that isn't quite so fun.
Rules:
1.Basic knowledge of 40k universe required.
2.If it's not your turn, then don't suddenly start a major event without running it past either me or the person whose turn it is first.
3.You are not trying to win anything. There is no grand prize for killing 300 enemy ships in one impossible explosion, so please don't god-mod or go really OTT.
4.Respect your fellow RPers by not forcing their characters to do things, and by using spelling and grammar to the best of your ability.
I think that will be all for now, have at it!
