Introduction

On the battle cruiser:

The sirens go off as troops mobilize to defend the ship. And as the attack continues, the engines take heavy damage. The ship entered the atmosphere the plante, Sahara. On impact, all major systems, other then communication, were destroyed beyond repair. Looking from their wreckage, they see a forest; a forest inhabited with strange animals. But there appeared to be no sentient beings on the planet.

On the Planet:

As Kivan looks through the forest, hunting for birds, he looks up to see a large metallic mass under attack by small, strange-looking creatures. As the metallic object enters the atmosphere, it begins to turn a bright red before hitting the ground. After the impact, Kivan runs to his sister, Songrose, to tell her what happened.

You are one of the terrans on the battlecruiser. You can be:

8)Civilians(Usually work around the ships)
9)Marines(Ex-criminals with battle suits built around them. their nural inhibitors(whitch usualy keep them in line), and battle suits have failed)
10)Firebat(Their large bulky suits are too large for the dense forrest, so they have to leage their biosuits behind)
11)Ghost(Probaly the strongest of the Terran, due to the fact that their the only ones that don't use a bio suit, but their occular imlants(implanted in their eyes to enhance vision) are still functional.)
12)Medic(Their extenive medical knowledge makes them useful for surviving the hardship on the planet)
13)Captain(The only uptight battle cruiser capain is in charge of the NORAD III)
14)One of the siblings on the planet (not too many; pm first)

Rules

1) No godmodding.

2) People on the ship are reliant on technology; they aren't as...in shape...as the people on the planet. (Which does generally mean they aren't exactly as strong as those on the planet.

3) People that grew up on the planet are a little stronger than those on the ship, but they have no grasp on technology at first. (Ex. "Where's the on-button?" "...What's an on-button?")

4) Everything on the ship. except for communication, is down. And help will not come in one day..which means anyone not used to technology must help the others survive. (Which could mean weeks, months, etc.)

5) You cannot repair anything else on the ship; destroyed beyond repair means destroyed beyond repair! (Though metal pieces can be slavaged for other uses; Ex. melting down metal plates to crude metal weapons such as swords, arrowheads, spearheads, etc.)

6) If you want to be one of the siblings on the planet, pm first; we don't want too many.

7) The only race you can use is terran.

8) While on the planet, you use the weapons of the siblings on the planet. You have no guns; we make bows and arrows, we use swords, we make fire, not use a oven. (We're very...old fashioned, aren't we?)

9) Pm me if you're having any problems.

10) The time period is around the time that the Brood War begins. At this time everyone knew what the Zerg where, unless u lived like the siblings. all the Terran including the UED know about it, and the Protoss knew about the Zerg before the humans.

I was walking through the forest, and as I was looking up through the canopy of the trees, I saw an unusual sight; a large metalic object slowly flying through the sky, possibly under attack by much smaller, what appeared to be living creatures in orbit. A large flame began to burn from the side of the object, and two explosions seemed to come from what seemed to be the back of the large object. It evetually began to fall from orbit. I ran off to tell my sister of what i had just seen.

As I was running through the forest, it seemed like an eternity before I finaly made it back. "I saw something strange near the lake! A large object is coming in like a meteor!" I said frantically.

I looked back at Kivan, giving him a confused look. First he refuses to let me come with him, then he comes back telling these strange tales? I shook my head. "Is something wrong with you, big brother? If it's such a large object, how did it get in the sky in the first place? ...Are you sure you didn't see a meteor, and it's just very large?" After all, what sort of large object could it be otherwise? Made of metal, or rock? I turned my back to him, stirring our little fire. But then...Kivan was never one for telling tales like this. I wondered if something had made him crack. It would be awful if my brother was losing his mind...I glanced back at him. "Maybe you just saw a meteor," I suggested.

I replied "It's no meteor! come and look for yourself!" I grabbed her arm and pulled her through the forest to show her the object, but before I got close enoght to see it, I heard a loud crashing sound. Startled by the noise I continue moving on to find the souce of the sound, draging Songrose along with me.

I ran along as he dragged me, confused and a little curious. Especially after the loud crash we heard. He had one of my amrs, but I used the other hand to grab one of the daggers at my waist, just in case. Not a meteor? What else could it possibly be, then? I looked ahead, over the trees, to see smoke rising from ahead of us. I stopped, yanking my arm from Kivan's grip. I stared ahead cautiously, drawing the twin to the dagger I had already grabbed. "I think...I'll hang behind and watch...you can go ahead...I'll keep up..." I said, still watching the rising smoke. I walked forward slowly, watching where I was going, but looking up every now and then to make sure I was heading straight for it at my slow pace. I didn't want to run into the middle of trouble!

"Its too hot to touch... we can only observe the wrekage from a distance."I said, backing a way from the wreakege. " We'll need to get some water to cool down the heated meatal" i continued. i went to the nearest stream to get some water, leaving Songrose to see if anything rises from the wreakage.

I rolled my eyes; of course I would be the one to have to sit and watch for survivors! I had no idea if anyone was going to even come out of that wreck of heaterd metal. I wasn't sure if Kivan would take his time or not, either. If he did, then I was going to be here a while; the nearest stream could be as long as minutes away if he ran bother ways, or hourse away, if he took a peaceful stroll. I sat down, hiding in the trees, watching the boring scene. Smoke continued to billow from the metal, fire continued to burn, and the birds around, silent since the crash, were now starting to chirp and sing again. But, ever obedient to my brother, I sat and watched, looking for any signs of life.

I finally made it to the stream. I sat by the stream and filled the buckets as quickly as I could. When I finally filled the buckets, I ran off towards the crash site, thinking what would happen if there were survivors. I began to ignore my thought as I continued to run.

I continued to watch the wreckage, waiting to see if someone was going to walk out. Seriously, who was going to walk out of that heap of junk? I was beginning to wonder if anyone had been on that wreck at all. I stepped out of my hiding place in the trees, and sat, watching the patterns in the smoke. I gave a sigh. This was probably the most boring thing Kivan had asked me to do; watch for survivors when there might not be any. I looked around for something to do, and finally ended up plucking blades of grass and braiding them, throwing them off to the side, and plucking more. If Kivan didn't hurry, there wouldn't be any more grass in the area. ...Not that the fire on this thing wasn't going to be a big help on that part. He needed to hurry...before the forest went up in flames.

Bastian groaned, as he pulled again on the broken power cell that was near embedded inthe power generator of Rex. The human groaned, and whiped his brow, leaving a heavy smudge of grease in it's wake. The crash had caused the power cell to shatter, and become bent and disfigured, causing it to get stuck inside the imput receptical. The metalic cell was definely not going anywher any time soon, even with proper lubrications, which probably did more damage than good to the internal workings of the generator. Bastian pulled with all of his might, the crowbar he had aquired straining with the core. Finally after a series of uncomfortable groans, grunts and sighs, he gave in. He'd need a brute to get that thing out...

He swiped his hands on his jumpsuit, and adjusted his glasses. Another mechanic called from the floor up to him. "'Ey! Bass! You've been workin' on that thing for like...five hours now. Should'nt you give it a break?"
"Sorry Sylvester! I'm making good progress here and there, but still has some major issues. I could get the weapons system to start spinning up again, but the loading system is fried. I can't tell what works in the cockpit, because I can't get this damned power core to come loose. It's busted anyway! Then the right leg's pnumatic cylenders are bent, and the left's gas assistance function is completely useless. Bottom gattling is jammed up too...and probably so many more problems I cannot even begin to explain." He said, placing his hands on the ladder he sat upon.
"Jus' take ya a break, huh? We ain't goin' nowhere fast, and we ain't going to try and "Salvage" our only Goliath that we MIGHT be able to get running." The man called back up to him.
"Oh? Let me know when we get those replacement parts in from command, in the next...oh ETERNITY or so." Bastian said sarcasticly, sliding down the ladder, landing on the floor with a soft thud.

Bastian went through the ship, hands locked behind his head, as he walked in almost a daydream. Maybe I could try and strip some of the parts from the wrecked Goliaths...bah, but that'd take a cutting torch...and a whole 'nother assload of tools I don't have at my disposal. He thought to himself. He pushed through the lower hanger. He was now where there was a large opening in the hull of the ship that had been ripped open on impact. He walked towards it and out it. The planet they had crashed on was no eye-pleaser for Bastian, but at least it didn't have anything trying to rip them apart yet.

He stepped out into the open, looking around, checking the enviorment, and even what remote wildlife he could see. It wasn't a terrible plannet, but by far it wasn't the best. He would've prefered the tropical island plannet....He began to walk out and around the ship, just kind of puttering around the ship, paying no real attention to where he was headed...

I stood up quickly. Someone was walking? Someone I didn't recognize...there were survivors? He didn't seem to have noticed me. I followed along, a safe distance behind, wondering if he would have the sense to turn around. Though following him proved to be about as boring as waiting for survivors. He only wandered around this...thing. Kivan had better hurry...I didn't like being around these strangers on my own. Though what would they do to me? Surely they weren't unfriendly. I wondered again when he would notice I was following though, after living here my entire life, my footsteps were nearly silent; Kivan couldn't tell I was behind him half the time. As I followed, I glanced at the heap of metal every now and then. Finally unable to contain myself, I had to ask. "What is this...heap of wrecked metal? Big Brother said he saw it falling from the sky...but how'd it get up there in the first place?"

Bastian heard a feminine voice behind him, causing him to jump....Odd, as they only had a few females on board his crashed ship...and it didn't sound like anyone he knew. He spun around on his heels to view the person in question: She had long ebon locks of hair, and stood on a slim frame. He was fairly shocked to see someone on the planet other than his crew, much less someone so beautiful. He stood stunned for a moment, before stuttering out the obvious:
"W-whoa! A woman!"

He walked forward cautiously, still eyeing her up and down. He pushed his glasses up on his face, and continued to examine her. "So! There are sentient being on this planet!" He said in a gleeful tone. But then he remembered that the woman had asked a question. Two actually. He looked between her and his vessel. "T-this? This is a ship! A spacecraft, of course! I can't remember what particular model or code, but it it is a Terran craft." He said, with a smirk.

She probably has no knowledge of technology...she's completely oblvious to what a ship is.... But he looked back towards her again. "And yes, it did sort of fall from the sky....But there is else beyond the sky, called Space and it is this vast unparraleled plain of stars and planets! And it got up there by launching itself from a planet like this one, using high powered propulsion engines that can counteract the force of gravity and..." His ramble went on and on, about how the ship worked.

Finally he took a breath. "The others have to know about this! Maybe your people can help my people get out of here!" He said, grinning. He would motion for her to follow him back around the ship, and into it.

I shook my head. "My people? The only other person here is my brother. He went to get water to put that out," I said, nodding towards the flames. Why was he so surprised to see a woman? Surely he had seen at the very least one before. I listened to him rambling on, and shook my head again. "I think this is all beyond me. ...But it is a wrecked heap of metal, now," I said, following him. "And we can't help you get out of here; we might be able to help you survive, but certainly not get out of here. ...Well, if you mean get this thing up in the air again, that is." I touched the side of the craft. "This would melt down nicely...make a nice set of arrowheads...maybe a dagger of two...definitely for a few swords..." I looked over the large craft. "Big Brother can probably find more to make with this once it's melted down...it'd make a nice set of weapons at the least."

After running through the forrest, I made it to the side of the heap of meatal. As I looked around, it had appeared that my sister had left. "Mabye she went home" I thought to myself, as I began to put out what remained of the flames. Over the hissing of the water, I heard people talking on the other side the crash site. As i approached the source of the sound, I saw that who ever was ther had left.

He paused for a minute. "You and your...."Brother"...." He started. This brought up by far, many, many questions he didn't want to ask, but almost felt compelled to. She began to explain how she couldn't help them, and he slightly tuned her out after hearing that. Crimony. He thought. Radio is the only thing we have on this things that works, and Command says that we're on the bottom of the list for supplies....

He came back into the conversation after she had finished. "This? Melt down into few weapons? Your math is a tad off lady..." He said, looking over the carrier. "This thing could manufacture well above a thousand swords. Hell, probably a shield to match, too!" He said, readjusting his spectacles. "But don't you think it'd serve as a much better shelter? I mean, this steel is corrosion resistant. Near everything resistant in fact! That's how we made it through the atmosphere! Sure we could use the damaged bits as weapons... but I'll stick to living inside." He said, almost rudely.

He shook his head, before looking back up at her, realizing he'd...kind of been a jerk. "You have a name, right? I'm Sebastian... Who are you?" He asked.

He was going to argue with me? I brushed that thought aside. "But it would be more useful to melt it down into weapons. I said a few because it would take too much time and energy to melt down the entire thing, though I suppose if it stays here long enough, it will eventually be melted down...though to melt the entire thing as often as we needed it would take at least a few generations...and I don't think we'll be having any more of those." Use metal? As a shelter? ...Why? "As far as shelter, we make do in a cave; I trust the cave more than I trust this...wrecked metal heap. And, technically, being inside a cave is still being inside, isn't it? And my name is Songrose. And, despite the little argument, it is nice to meet you, Sebastian," I added with a smile.

As the hissing of boiiling water finaly settled down, it felt safe to finally enter the heap of twisted meatal. I quickly found a hole in the meatal big enough for me to enter and went in, carrying two or three buckets of water to put out any flames inside. As I entered, the voicees echoed louder. I began to think the they where in the crash instead of on the other side. As I continued through the supprisingly intact halls, the voices grew louder. As I came around a corner, I came to see a strange man talking to my sister. "Who's this?" I asked my sister.

I turned to look as I heard another voice. "Big Brother! He's just someone I saw walking around the...ship," I said, a little hesitant about hte unfamiliar word. I shook my head. "Brother, listen. I think we can melt this stuff down; we can save some pieces to repair weapons, and use larger pieces to make swords. I, myself, need more arrowheads." Actually, I didn't need more. But I kinda thought we'd need to make more. Bows didn't require much strength, and I wasn't sure how strong these people were.

Bastian watched as this new fellow came up to him, apperently Songrose's brother.... He really didn't seem to intimidating. But then again, when you had the ego of someone whom operated a 50 ton bipedal tank for a living....

"Songrose? A pretty name, and quite uncommon. But....Uhm...I cannot say I'm going to simply let you strip our ship.... I mean, not that I care that you use the excess, but our captain would beat me black and blue if people started to....you know. Dismantle our ship?" He said, rubbing his brown hair lightly.

He began think, and seeing how they were both here anyway, he might as well start buffeting them with questions.

"Well...okay. First of all, if you're the only two here...how come you need so many weapons? It's not like you are waging wars with anyone...I can understand defending yourself from the other native wildlife, but you can't possibly need more than maybe one, or two blades...."

"And secondly, when you say the only ones "Here" do you mean on this planet, or in the surrounding area? Because if you're not the only ones of your race, then I'd like to talk to a chiefy kinda guy...."

"And third.... What the heck are you even?" He asked in rapid succession.

Songrose, a pretty name? How was a name pretty...I shook that question off; not important enough to worry about. I thought through the questions, and decided to answer in order. It would make the most sense, anyway. "We need enough weapons to hunt with, and because brother has fun making them, and because I like to practice with them. Something like a stress relief, you know?" What did we mean by here? ...I honestly didn't know how to answer the question. Not without causing some question to myself. "...We're not sure. We've never left this area...and we don't honestly know if there is someone else on this planet...but we know for a fact there is no one else in this area." I could say that much confidently. I didn't know if there was anyone else on this planet...but we thought that, if there were other people, surely we would have seen them by now. "What do you mean, what are we? We're the same as you. I see no differences that point us as different races. Why? Do you see any differences that mark us as different races?" I asked, a little defensively. How could he see us as different creatures? We were similar enough to both be called people, weren't we?

"What do you mean 'not let us strip the ship?' Who said we were going to give you a choice?" I asked "But if theres anything you find that's important to you, we'll let you keep it," I continued, feeling a little sympathy for this scrawny man. "By the way, Songrose, who is he?" I said to my sister. "Never mind, I continued, turning to the scrawny man "Who are you? And why do you think where not human? We look just like any other human," I said a little upset.

I looked on as Songrose answered my questions. At least she was mannered somewhat about my questions. But this man came over, and almost began to threaten him! "What do you mean 'not let us strip the ship?' Who said we were going to give you a choice?" This immidately began to shot red flags off for Bastian. "Well, concidering you're "Civilized" you ask before you take something." He said, defensively. They both said they were human....this was true, and althought I couldn't find different looks, their behavior said otherwise. Not to mention what are the odds of someone on a completely different planet, that had never left it, came up with the exact same language, exact same styles, and exact same name for their race?

He turned around, and began to walk back into the ship. "Fine, do what you want with the ship. But if a bunch of buff guys in space armor come out, and start yelling at you, don't be surprised." He waved his hand dismissivly, and kept walking, untill he came to the first door, and went inside the ship.

"...Civilized in that manner can mean death, you know," I pointed out, following. "If you can't take what you need, how long do you plan on surviving?" If the metal was necessary, then why leave it just because we don't have permission? "We never claimed to be civilized; we only know how we manage to survive here. And, since it is the two of us...or rather, has been for so long, we haven't come across something that we weren't exactly allowed to take without a fight aside from the meat from an animal to feed ourselves. We're not used to others since Mom and Dad died, you know?" Not that he would really know...but still... "We just haven't been around others in so long, we're not sure how we're supposed to act." I glanced at Brother, then looked back to Sebastian. "And my brother barely knows how to act around other animals, aside from hunting them. You can't think us too uncivilized because of that."

Songrose was right: since when was the last person here? Regretting the way I treated this man, I ran to catch up with the man, to finally get an answer to my question. When I caught up to him I said "if you're going to stay here, I might as well know you're name. I'm Kivan." I said trying to calm down. I had hoped that he would finally tell me his name

yay! and it's ok if your starcraft is a little rusty; my brother's a freak, he'll know anything you ask him about starcraft...and he's sitting behind me and agrees! ...or he says go to the starcraft wikia...or you can ask me, and i'll ask him, and he'll be irritated from too many questions! lol...don't worry about it, my starcraft isn't the best, either...

Re: [OOC] Beyond The Fringe

Eh, sure, I'll give it a throw. I might as well. My starcraft is a tad rusty, though.
