Introduction
Welcome. Are you like us?
No?
I suppose I should explain.
My name is Shannon. Yes, like the river. Anyway, I'm one of the last. One of the last hum- people on earth.
See, I nearly said human. But I'm not entirely human anymore. The humans were wiped out by a freak virus. Animals and plants were left unaffected. If the virus didn't kill you, it would make you stronger. But less human.
If you were going to survive, you still got the symptoms. The worst was probably the coughing. I won't give you the gory details. But if you were going to survive, you would get a really bad rash. The rash would eventually fade, but your skin would glow. It's not that obvious in daylight, but we glow like anything in the night.
And we are unique. We can mutate into an animal. One animal. And for some unknown reason, we also have the control of one element, which we can use in either form.
Water And The Cheetah.
Fire And The Eagle.
Air and The Wolf.
Earth And The Bear.
Light And The Snake.
After a lot of searching, we managed to find each other. We began to set up a new city.
It's complete. And it glows.
Like us.
But we discovered that we're not alone. There are people who are less human than us. If that's possible. They slink around in the outskirts of our town, never quite able to get into the light of our city.
The smart one worked it out that that's why we glow. It's to repel the Lurkers as we call them. But the Lurkers seem drawn to our light, even though it makes them weaker, and if we glow too brightly, we can kill them. The Lurkers have unknown powers. And they seem... darker than regular humans.
We swore that we would stay away.
But will we be able to stay away? And will the lure of our light be too much for the Lurkers?
No?

OOC Notes
Eli walked around the new glowing city. It was beyond beautiful, something that she would love to sketch. Her pianist fingers made a simple movement, making the air flow faster. Her hair flew behind her back, just the way she liked it. She continued to walk, her black converse stepping on the glowing sidewalk. Making another movement, the wind slowed down, making her hair fall down. She stared up at the clear night sky, wondering if there were others out there or if the disease had killed them off.
OOC Notes
Mica Araneah, an antisocial, extremely intense choice of person to have survive. She tended to ward people off, and on top of that she hated all the bright lights. Ever since that damned disease....
Leaning slightly to the side, Mica relished in the feeling of the wind in her face and the heat from the fire eminating from the edges of her back feathers. She was swiftly manuvering through the brightly lit buildings and occassionally letting her talons scratch against the pavement below her, enjoying the fact that no one else was around to interrupt this perfect moment.
Although, as soon as that thought went through Mica's head, she looked up to see Elle not five yards away and approaching quickly. Mica sighed and pulled back a little, flapping her wings until she was moving slow enough to change midair and land on her feet. In a flurry of firey orange and coal black feathers, Mica's form settled into a slim figure in baggy guy's clothing. A black sweatshirt with its giant hood pulled up over her short black hair shadowed her face to the tip of her nose, but in the light of the city her black eyes still glinted almost eerily.
Slipping her hands into her pockets, Mica stepped into the shadow of a building and remained silent as she watched Eli.

OOC Notes
Eli felt as if a she was being watched, she smirked to herself. She saw a beautiful eagle fly up, then dissapear. Eli blinked, thinking that she was imagining seeing something or someone in the shadows. Her speed increased as she walked to the building, "Hello?" her voice echoed. She crossed her arms over her chest, it was chilly tonight and she had on a thin, sheer white tank top with lace on the hem and on the bottom. She walked even closer to the building, thinking about turning into her wolf form. She had always lived turning I to a wolf at night, she was jet black with spots of dark chocolate brown, so she looked almost invisible. Except for the wolf's eyes, that gave the whole charade away; her wolf's eyes were honey colored, as some people would describe as being "golden." Right now she chose against shifting into a wolf.
OOC Notes
A lone figure wandered the streets, lighting every alley she passed. The glow she emitted seemed to come from deep within. Even her rippling auburn hair emitted a glow. Her brown eyes were bright and relaxed, and she walked confidently through the streets. Her stance was relaxed but catlike, somehow. Her hot pink ballet flats clicked against the pavement, adding a flash of colour to the glowing side walks. Her clothes bere bold and bright, and they contasted with her pale skin. She wore a hot pink t-shirt and a short black skirt.
As she reached a block of apartments, she turned to go inside. Before she could, she saw another figure strolling down the sidewalk. "Hey there." She called, turning back around and heading towards her. "I'm Shannon. What's your name? I'm the water and cheetah. Who are you?" She said, summoning small droplets of water to hover around her skin to prove her point.
Their combined light lit up a shadow, illuminating a figure. "Who are you?" She asked, releasing the water to splash around her feet.

Mica watched as Eli passed by a little ways, then stepped out of the shadow. Mica always found waiting for someone to approach a little awkward, so she tended to hide herself until they were closer. Still silent, Mica pushed a rush of energy through her body and out of every pore in her skin. A slight haze and the smell of something burning surrounded Mica, as well as a bubble of warmth.
"You shouldn't go out in such thin clothing." Mica said, staring at Eli again with a bird's watchful, curious gaze. Turning her head slightly, Mica acnowledged another person that approached. Flicking her eyes towards the water drops that hovered for a moment, Mica turned her head so she could see both of the girls in front of her.

OOC Notes
"That's the thing. You never know what the weather's going to be like here." Shannon stepped a little closer, making sure she could be seen. "For instance, I feel perfectly warm. Then again, cats can only feel the cold on their pads, tongues and noses." She rubbed her nose instinctively, making sure it didn't get too cold. She began to play with a ball of water that she formed from the water droplets that had fallen around her feet. Her feline side wanted to bat it around, but her common sense told her she would look like an idiot. So she refrained, instead tossing it from hand to hand.
OOC Notes
Eli saw a figure running her way. Her red hair was flying with the wind, her flats making noises against the concrete that someone might confuse them with heels. She nodded at the girl's greeting, "I'm Elizabeth. Call me Eli or Elle. I'm air and wolf." She said, making the wind increase and decrease. She looked at Shannon's appareal and smiled. Eli herself was wearing a white tank top, with black skin tight jeans tucked into her boots. Her boots were a rich chocolate color that went up to her knees, they almost looked like riding boots with leather straps and a thin heel. Of course she had on her metal rusted ring on a silver chain that her father had given her when she was ten.
OOC Notes
Mica stepped back a little as the other two girls started talking. She fell back into the shadow of the building, the light glow eminating from her dampening the darkness a little. After a few seconds of just standing there, Mica turned and started walking through the alley towards her building, not exactly seeing that conversation going anywhere. Mica wasn't much of a talking person, and tended to get along better with guys anyway. And, not only that, but the girl with the water in her hand was a little bit offputting for some reason. It was probably because their elements were opposites, as well as their other forms.
OOC Notes
Shannon shrugged. She let the ball of water drop to the ground, where it splashed around her feet. Damn. I'd better take these shoes off or they'll be ruined... Do you want to come in?She gestured at the apartment building behind her. Just so you know, I'll probably sleep in my animal form tonight.
OOC Notes
Eli nodded, "Sure." She said, looking down at the ground. Just like the rest of the city, it had a faint glow. She started walking to the building, "Do you have a piano? Or a sketchbook? I need to do something with my hands." She chuckled, running a hand through her wavy black hair. Her hands inched to something, flip a page, play a note or sketch.
OOC Notes
Um.... Just let me think. Oh, I know. I have a giant A2 drawing pad behind my bed. It was a birthday present. Shannon smiled, heading into the building after Eli. She pressed the button for the lift, and stepped inside. If you want to go back to your place, get anything, I'm on the fifth floor. As the lift doors closed, Shannon sighed. The lift was warm, and the carpet was thick and plush. Some of the mutants lived here, in different apartments, so it was generally clean. As the doors opened with a ding, she stepped into the warm apartment that she called home. She was a little bit of a neat freak, so the cream carpets were pristine and fluffy. There wasn't a speck of dust visible. Shannon smiled. She walked into her bedroom, kicked off her shoes and decided to get changed. She pulled on a pair of tracksuit bottoms and she pulled a hoodie on over her t-shirt. She pulled the giant drawing pad out from behind her bed and set it onto the coffee table in the main room. She stretched out on the couch and picked up a book that had been on the floor. She flicked it open and began to read, waiting for Eli.
OOC Notes
"Alright." Eli said, walking back to her apartment. She walked into the building lobby, heading towards the elevator. She was on the 7th floor, so walking would take up to much time. She pressed the 7 button and leaned back into the mirror wall as the classical elevator music began to play. Her eyes opened as the elevator came to a sudden stop; she got out and walked down the hallway and into her apartment. She smiled at the sight of her gran piano, walking past it and into her bedroom. Eli sighed, picking out her pajamas. She picked out black flannel sleeping shorts and a black tank top. Of course she wouldn't forget her black slipper boots, the really fuzzy and soft ones. She changed into her outfit and walked back into the living room, grabbing a pencil. She ran back outside, changing into a wolf. It was to chilly for her to make it to Shannon's apartment, and the black fur kept her warm. She ran past the streets, and shifted back into herself as she reached Shannon's building. She walked to the elevator and pressed the 5h floor button. She went to Shannon's apartment and gave the door 3 knocks, she smirked when she remembered that she had put the pencil behind her ear.
OOC Notes
Shannon stretched and yawned as she went to open the door. She fiddled with it for a moment before yanking it open. Eli stood there grinning. Shannon noticed the pencil behind her ear and grinned. Then she realized what Eli was wearing. Did you come the whole way here like that? It's freezing outside. Shannon asked, puzzled.
OOC Notes
Eli chuckled, running a hand through her jet black hair. "No. I shifted." She walked in, slipping past Shannon. She grabbed the black hair tie off of her hand and tied her hair in a messy bun, letting some stray hairs fall down in soft waves. "Nice place. You're so....clean." She couldn't think of a better word to describe Shannon's aprrment. "Where's the sketch pad? I wanna draw you."
OOC Notes
Shannon blushed. That explains it. Yeah, I'm a little bit of a neat freak. Sketch pad's on the coffee table. Back in a minute. Shannon grinned, and she slipped into her bedroom. She pranced over to the dressing table, where small pots, bottles and boxes sat in a precise order. She tinkled some, before she found what she was looking for. She picked up a small little pot filled with foundation. She brushed some over her face, covering a few small spots she had. She gave her hair a quick brush, and she then went back into the main room. She darted over to the kitchen, where she filled some bowls with snacks. She took a handful of M&M's and went back into the main room. She set down the bowls, and stretched out on the couch.
OOC Notes
"Just stay still." Eli said, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "The last time I drew sometime was really annoying. I could not get him to stand still!" She chuckled, picking up the skecth pad and pulling out her pencil from behind her ear. She sat on the floor with her knees bended so she could have a flat surface to put the pad on. She began drawing Shannon, sometimes taking an M&M. She started with her hair, shading and highlighting the colors with her ebony pencil.
OOC Notes
Mica finally reached her building after ten minutes of walking around aimlessly. It was a tall, greenish white stone building with a light glow eminating from it, and a few barred windows scattered here and there due to the fact that it was located on the far edge of the city. There was no visible door on the second or third floor, only a slight outcropping of bricks and a giant red button at shoulder height. The nearest enterance to the building was one more story up; a solitary door with a three-foot outcropping in front of it. Mica looked up slightly before jumping up and transforming into her hawk form in a flurry of feathers that seemed to come from nowhere. flying up for the short distance it took, Mica dropped down onto the platform, back in her human form. Opening the door just a smidge, she reached in and pulled out a smallish leather strap before closing the door behind herself again. Letting the strap fall to her feet, Mica re-transformed into her hawk self and wiggled herself into the harness before taking off towards the dense forest behind her building.
OOC Notes
“I'll stay as still as I can, but I'll need to eat!” Shannon smiled slightly. Her eyes flicked to the window where she saw a shining eagle flying high above the glowing buildings. She smiled again, truly happy. She glanced around her room, making sure that no invisible force had messed up her home. She was satisfied to see that nothing had. She stared at the M&M's, feeling a sudden urge to arrange them by colour. She suppressed the urge, instead trying to memorise the colours.
OOC Notes
Eli sketched and sketched, making sure that everything was perfect. She smiled when she was done, wiggling her eyebrows. "You ready?" She asked. Eli flipped the pad around, and there was Shannon, in black and white. "What do you think?"
OOC Notes
"Whoa. That's amazing. You must practise loads!" Shannon grinned. It was amazing, seeing herself in black and white. She stretched. "Want to see one of my skills? Besides being able to arrange that bowl of M&M's by colour in under two minutes. I'm a great cook! M&M's are nice and all, but I fancy something more fulfilling." She stood up, yawning like a cat. "I'll prove to you that I can arrange that bowl by color later."
OOC Notes
Eli smirked, "Ugh make me baklava." the memory of her father making it when she was younger brought a smile to her lips. He might have been a cold hearted man, but he raised her right. He thought her many things which she loves doing now. She popped a blue M&M into her mouth.
OOC Notes
Shannon blushed. Well, I don't actually know how to make that. But I make some mean brownies. Wanna taste? She grinned, humming to herself as began pulling the ingredients out of various cupboards and the fridge. Oh, and watch the blue M&M's. Before everyone died, one of my friends ate one and her teeth turned blue. It was, like, an hour before it faded. Even after she ate a yellow one. I couldn't stop laughing for ages. She grinned sadly, remembering the times before everything went wrong. She shook her head, pulling a hair tie from her wrist. She pulled her hair back and tied it up. Do you want to help? Tie your hair back if you do, there's some hair ties in the bathroom.
OOC Notes
"Stupid, stupid, stupid."
Pequa shivered as he crouched at the base of a tree. He had been chasing a few plump rabbits, and now he was lost. He knew he was in a forest close to the city, but beyond that he had no idea how to get back to his marsh. He could feel the light of the city burning on his skin even from this distance, and he hastily scooted into the shadow of the tree to get out of it. He traced a claw on the ground, noting with disappointment the dryness of the soil. He shouldn't stay here for long, it was far too dry for his tastes. He slumped against the tree, grumbling with frustration. He was cold, hungry, and who knows how far away from his marsh. He unconsiously started fiddling with his scarf as he said, "All I need is for a Mutant to find me now and this night will be perfect."

OOC Notes
She had slithered a short distance from the group as they met, watched with interest as they exchanged greetings. The... she shivered... the bird... she had slunk away into the shadows, but the cheetah and the wolf had gone off together. Alora wondered hesitantly for a split second if she should show herself, follow them... but she chose not to, for the moment, she wished to be alone. She slithered away from the building through the city, basking in the warmth and the light. It helped her to forget the awful past... the horrible memories... slipped all away. Her whole world was bright and shining now. She could live with that. She stopped, sensing... something... out there. Something dark... and different. Alora morphed into her human form, eyeing the outskirts, tasting the air... She wandered curiously closer, but not too close, she might meet... one of them, if she did... Wait, was that what she was sensing, a... Lurker? She hissed, purple eyes narrowing, wondering if she should continue to follow the taste or stay away. Every nerve in her body was telling her to run, but... she continued to draw closer to the edge of the city, something really quite contrary to her nature. After all, she had always been afraid of the dark...
OOC Notes
Pequa tensed as he heard the sound of footsteps. "Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!" he thought as he shrank into a ball. "Of course, I had to tempt fate." He practically strangled his scarf as he considered his options. Something had discovered him, and due to his closeness to the city, he was sure it was a mutant. Oh, how he despised the mutants. They were human and animal, separate yet whole, not a strange mishmash of them both like he was. However, that didn't matter now. What mattered were his odds. If it was just one mutant (Did he hear one pair of footsteps or more? He couldn't remember.) he could probably take them. If it was more than one... He shuddered, not wanting to even consider that. He gulped, and stood up, trying to get into an ambush position as best as he could behind the cover of the tree. He tensed up, and waited for the intruder.

Re: [OOC] Brighter
Hey, I just submitted a new profile for the Eagle. If it's already taken, then I'll remake it.
Re: [OOC] Brighter
Hello! I'm a newbie RPer who would like to join this RP. Please correct me on anything I do wrong. I think I submitted a Lurker profile, but my computer glitched the first time so I submitted it again. I apologize if my Lurker shows up twice because of that.
Re: [OOC] Brighter
Hm...I think I'd be interested in taking a Lurker role...I'll see what sort of strange design I can come up with.
Re: [OOC] Brighter
Interested! But curious about plots and motivations, as well as the level of other roleplayers. If it ain't at least intermediate I'll only end up dropping out. xD
So, any details you could spare on the former? What will the characters be doing--just fighting their opposition?
