Introduction
Wen-Terra. A land not much unlike ours… Somewhat. In fact it is quite different than ours. Mainly for one reason. Magic.
Nobody knows how magic began in Wen-Terra, but it is known the derivation of the power. The power of your soul. At the birth of a child, one soul that belonged to a strong, deceased individual enters “Rebirth”. In “Rebirth” the soul loans itself to the child, in exchange for the perception of feeling alive once more. And as this soul lends its power to its host, the spiritual power it has gained in the afterlife manifests as magic. However, by accepting this power the host can manifest the partner soul allowing it closer to life in exchange for its power. At this point the soul will try to break free of its host and live once more. Then it becomes an internal battle between the partner and the host, the host using the strength of their own will to suppress the physical manifestation of the partner during the spellcasting. If done successfully, when the magic is over the pair will return to their original state, as if nothing had happened. However, if the Rebirthed soul breaks the will of its host then the Rebirthed soul gains possession of the body. It is unknown what happens at this point to a science, but perhaps it is almost an intoxication of being alive grips the Rebirthed soul and the body goes mad. Destroying all in its path until its eventual destruction.
As you could imagine, this could be a problem for the citizens of Wen-Terra. So in response, magic guilds have formed. They are guilds of people whose sole occupation is to learn magic and take care of the problems of other people. Including eliminating Rebirthed souls that have taken possession of physical bodies. However another important duty of these guilds is another form of protection to their people. Monster hunting. Over the last one-hundred years or so, in Wen-Terra, monsters have begun to appear. Mage guilds have now been called upon to eliminate these when the movements of these monsters threaten humans. Be this in hunting the monsters until they are exterminated from the area or chasing them away.
The guilds themselves get the requests for these jobs mainly locally. When a citizen has a problem or issue, they can submit a request to the guild and post a reward out of their own pocket. However, sometimes if the problem is big enough, the citizen will send the request directly to the king. There, he will determine whether to give the job to the guilds and add his own reward onto the reward posted by the the client, or to send his own court mages and guard out to deal with the threat personally, at no cost to the client or himself.
However, there is a catch when mages are battling. Souls are… private to people. And as a general rule, those with strong magical souls (IE: Powerful people in their previous life) attempt to hide what soul they have from everybody. This makes these jobs much more difficult as the mages hardly ever allow themselves to use their full potential or the full extent of their power. For risk of succumbing to the inner soul or because of whomever may be watching
But… that is not the start of our story. Our story begins in one of these mage guilds in the capitol of Wen-Terra, called Nexus.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALRIGHT!!! Welcome to the world of Wen-Terra. First off, thank you for your apparent interest in populating this world. Now, I’m going to describe more about the world.
GOVERGNMENT: Wen-Terra is all controlled by a single nation, so the people simply refer to the government as “the kingdom” or “the king”, since the nation is ruled by a king. It is a traditional kingdom in an earth sense with the king having the majority of the power but he is held weakly in check by an underpowered senate. The king has the right to choose his successor and must choose this successor when he reaches the age of 35. The king also has the right to choose his wife, however he only does have one wife, and mistresses, unlike real earth, are rare and are often followed by riots if that does happen.
The senate is made of 200 people at any one time. Although officially, the senate consists of 250 people. The senate breaks the year into 5 semesters, and each semester 50 senators get the semester off. In this way, there are always 200 senators working at all times. The senators are elected by the king selecting 200 candidates every year and then the people vote on their election for the 50 senator spots (The previous 50 who had already been in office the longest lose their seats unless re-elected).
TECHNOLOGY: Buildings are made of stone. Cannons have NOT been invented… yet. Ships are transport and cargo vessels. The weaponry is Middle Ages. Just in general, tech is middle ages. There is nothing that runs based on magic as the use of magic for normal people is severely limited. (Since they do not want to risk a Rebirthed soul and usually, their souls do not have much magical potential)
GEOGRAPHY: Wen-Terra is a made of a fairly small landmass. It has mountains in the north and on its western shore while its southeast is the primary agricultural area. The northeast is the least settled area and it is home to mainly fishing villages, with the terrain being too rocky to farm effectively However this part is quickly getting migrants from the south due to its growing number of mines. The south is heavily forested and logging is a major industry, and it is also home to some depleting stone reserves and the rare precious metal mines. The central part of the continent is the most organized with highly planned sprawling cities, being at the crossroads of the goods of the world. All of the major cities lie on one single massive river in the middle of the continent that has been used for river travel for as long as people can remember.
Also I will be making a second OOC called “Letters” These are teasers. Your character has no idea what these letters are or that they even exist. There will be no direct reference to them in the course of the RP (I think). These are little sub things that I will be posting from time to time (I will post on the regular OOC when I put one up) to keep you interested and guessing.
Also, I will not be submitting a chara. I will be controlling all NPCs though and I will make chara sheets for important NPCs.
CHARACTERS: There is a twist for this RP. You will NOT be able to pick the soul that gives you your magic to start with in this RP. You will submit your character from Wen-Terra to the RP and leave your soul and your element ambiguous. After I accept your character, I will assign your character a soul. It may be one with a similar personality or it may be one that has a completely different one. The only thing determining it is what I feel like. Rest assured though, all of them are balanced, and you will not be getting stuck with any poor ones (Although I will try to give out the truly epic ones to those who first come)
And please add at least these things to your character sheet.
Name:
Age: Remember not everybody has to be a teenager (But be realistic I would feel bad beating up an 80 year old man)
Gender:
Appearance: Pictures or text
Personality:
Weapon Specialties: Be reasonable. To master a weapon takes years of practice and discipline. A seventeen year old boy probably wouldn’t have had the time to even master one discipline much less more.
Equipment: Again, be reasonable
History: I will NOT accept any character that says they have amnesia about their past. That is a cop out in most cases and you are too lazy to think of something truly unique and just went with the standard traumatic event caused amnesia. And then they have some grandiose past. NOT HAPPENING! (If you couldn’t tell, that is a pet peeve of character creation of mine) However, if you need a mysterious past for other reasons, PM me and we can talk.
COMBAT: And for combat, I will be the final say if something hits or not. I know it is hard to let your character get the crap beaten out of them, so I will be the final judge. At any time you can let your character be hit and overrule my decision that they could dodge or block, but you may not override when your character gets hit. To be fair I will be taking into consideration a few factors. I will grade by the practicality of the attack, the speed of the attack the general skill of the character and the quality of the post. I will grade these on who gets the advantage on a scale of 1-5 then I will total up the advantages and take the difference. Then I roll a 20 sided die (Or in this case a random number generator) with the standard odds 1-10 the attacker hits and 11-20 the attacker misses. But those numbers will shift based on the total advantage. If the attacker had an advantage of 4 for example, then the attacker would hit for a number of 1-14.
Examples: A competent Spear user is attacked by an extremely skilled swordsman who is standing a short distance away. In a very nice post the swordsman tries to dodge around the spear and matrix the spear and get a slash across the spearman’s chest.
The post is very good so the attacker gets an advantage of 4
The attack is impractical. You are charging directly at a weapon with much longer reach, but the post did acknowledge this. Defender gets an advantage of 4
The attack is not very quick. The spearman has some of time to react. The defender gets an advantage of 2
The swordsman is incredibly skilled, however the spearman is not bad himself. The attacker gets an advantage of 3
So in total, the attacker has an advantage of 7 and the defender has an advantage of 6 so the attacker has a total advantage of 1. So on the die 1-11 the attack will hit and 12-20 the attack can be blocked or dodged or hit if the defender chooses.
IF you have any more questions. Please PM me about it or post on the OOC
This is a completely original work, please do not copy it.
Parting words: PLEASE BE DEDICATED. I have grand plans for this RP. I know for a fact that there was no way I would be able to try to fit the entire story into a single RP so I am breaking it up into a trilogy. So yeah, this is hopefully going to be going on for a very long time. Enjoy!!!

Re: [OOC] Cacodemon: Rebirth
Yeah, I am really sorry about this. I had just learned my college orientation started the day before I went on vacation and I was running around like crazy so I never really got this thing going
What I'm probably going to end up doing is reposting this RP, and if you applied, submit again and consider yourselves accapted, even those I haven't accepted yet, the only reason you had not been accepted were that I was having a hard time giving your people their spirits.
And by submitting this again, I will be able to see whi is still interested and active
As I said REALLY sorry about this, but I was running around and was hardly on my computer at all for the last two weeks.

Re: [OOC] Cacodemon: Rebirth
I think PvP would actually rarely occur. You're all on the same side right now, but you never know what will get into people's heads as the story goes on, so I wanted to make the system fo if that happens, to speed up the battles. As for major NPCs it will pretty much be 50 50. Most of the time I will let you hit or for NPCs that you are not supposed to beat, not let you. But for the ones in between, then I will do the dice battles. And with minor NPCs, you can pretty much just knock the stuffing out of them. And I will warn you if it is a major NPC battle.
Re: [OOC] Cacodemon: Rebirth
How often would PvP actually occur? From the baseline of what I read, we are all on the same side. Therefore, I doubt/hope we don't have too much PvP. Would this be used for fighting things like important NPCs, or would those be more script battles as opposed to this full on dice battles?
Re: [OOC] Cacodemon: Rebirth
Yeah, this is just some system I made up, it is probablyt going to be tweaked, as I do not spend any time in the battle arena. I just wanted to get a system that I could use to make sure there are no invincedodges. And this style I will mainly use for PvP encounters where I assume all characters could rip through a bunch of weak enemies. I will mostly let you do what you want with other enemies since I don't care about them. However, and my definition of extremely skilled is that I am going to take the best estimation based on your character's bio and logical conclusions I can reach, and since this is based upon the comparison with the defender, I just compare what my conclusions are.
And agreed, catching an arrow is nigh impossible however, with whatever magic I give you, you'll probably be able to do something about it if you see it coming.
And DO NOT include magic in the bio. A twist I made for this RP is that I will assign you magic styles that I have pre-made based on your character. These are on a first serve basis, so it is my way of rewarding those who submit early, giving them slightly more flexible powers.
I hope to see your bio in the near future.

Re: [OOC] Cacodemon: Rebirth
I'll be submitting my character sheet in a bit :o looks interesting.
The combat rating system seems off to me though...what's your definition of 'extremely skilled'? Mine would be a swordsman so accustomed to battle that movement and parrying familiar opponents comes second nature. The next guy's version might be akin to a Dynasty Warriors hero, who rips through enemy ranks without breaking a sweat. And even then, a marksman who has been taught how to aim a crossbow could take him out(or at least hobble him) just by pointing and pressing a trigger. Catching bolts and arrows is nigh impossible even when fully prepared and focused, and deflecting them with a weapon...no.
Clarify ;-;? I spent too much time in the Battle Arena not to pick at things. Sorry.
Oh! And if the character's fighting style includes magic, should we still put that in the profile? Or is everybody melee?
