Introduction

In this world there are many things that cannot be explained, and the race called "Adita" is one of them. They are as ancient as the land itself, yet they have the appearance of a child. When humans discovered their powers..the humans hunger for power has turned the race into survivors...the last of their kind. Each Adita is a precious thing..seen as elemental weapons by the humans. They bonded themselves to the peaceful race and turned what was a gift..into a curse. Wars raged...many died. Aditas and Humans alike..no race was spared the horror of war. Eventually..there were but a handful of them left, coveted possessions of powerful countries, traded like pawns..sold like slaves. They were seen as weapons by their partners..their masters. Only a few humans dared to look beyond the power of the Aditas to the creature beneath the violence. What they found...was indescribable...

This storyline takes place in a powerful seaside kingdom called Bhasma. The royal family has kept an Adita for many centuries..passing the girl down as an inheritance. Some kings treated her as a thing, while others believed that she deserved to live her life as she wished. She had been partners to near 6 kings over the centuries..fighting for the country with everything she had in times of war..in times of peace she served as a guardian of their children..a beloved playmate that never changed. Her name? Sundari. She was a rare Adita...claiming the power of both the moon and water..therefore...the ocean was at her beck and call. It was her joy and sorrow. But it was life.
What is the price of a life?

Sundari had lived her entire life within the royal household of the Kingdom of Bhasma. Serving generation after generation of Kings and Queens..Princes and Princesses. She's seen many a partner die not only in battle, but to the hands of time or even from illness. She holds no ties with any Adita clan, although she is born of the Moon and the Water clans. Unlike many Aditas, there is no way one could confuse Sundari for a human. With pure white hair and eyelashes, and vivid blue eyes, she moves with a cat-like grace, capable of pulling off rather difficult acrobatics even while still fighting alongside her partner. There is no one left alive to recount how Sundari came to serve the royal family, but rumors of her being abandoned in the dead of winter somewhere upon the family estates. She was found by a servant, who quickly carried the abandoned girl inside where it was warm. She would have lived a normal life as a kitchen maid if not for the marking that distinguished her as an Adita. Richly detailed waves, as one would see upon the shoreline were marked in the center of her chest. Thus, that was how Sundari came to live with the royal family to begin with. The King and Queen raised her alongside their other children..as if she were borne of their blood. As she grew older, her schoolwork meshed with lessons in martial arts, dance, gymnastics and anything that would assist in her learning how to use a sword. So naturally, when she was finally allowed to unwrap her first sword and draw it, she had held and fought with it sheathed for near 12 years.

But when one looks as different as Sundari does, there is no hiding what you are from the world. Several generations later, she still lives and serves the family in keeping them safe as well as occasionally serving as an assassin. But that was her life, bonded with the leader of the kingdom..almost serving as another family member.

Bhasma is mainly on the coast, and even the castle has worn steps that lead down to the cool sand. A small country that generally kept to themselves. Suddenly, the current ruling family is put under attack, Sundari and the King holding the ground while the rest of the family ran and hid. That day, changed everything.

The battle wore on, both her and the king wearing down, until a simple mistake would cost the older man his life. The pain of loosing a partner was beyond any mortal pain, it burned clear to the soul. In a fit of sorrow and rage, half mad from feeling the touch of death upon one that she'd been bound to, she would draw the ocean below up to do her beckoning, sweeping the castle free of those who wished to harm the people within. While all but one or two of the invaders were swept away over the craggy sea cliffs, each and every innocent that had been in the castle at the time was completely safe, if a bit frightened.

It was then, only after all that she had vowed to protect were safe, that she would fall to her knees in exaustion, milky white hair stuck to her cheeks.

The time had come again, they would choose a new King..and she would soon have a new partner.
