Outwardly, to the majority of the solar system, Elves are a viewed as a regal and distingué people. But as a race whose entire culture has be built upon the safeguarding of secrets and bio-warfare; the elves have become a suspicious, mistrustful and apprehensive people.

All elves are deist and adhere to the belief in the existence of God, on purely rational grounds, without any reliance on revealed religion or religious authority or holy text. They believe that a God did create the universe, but has since remained indifferent to it. Respectfully, the elven people choose to practice alchemy and place the pursuit of scientific discovery as the priority of their people.

But their adherence to science has lead the elven people to live strict lives, built around the betterment of ones education and status within elven society. Status is an important facet of elven culture; position, education, the size of ones home, physical stature, and ones discoveries all define who an elf is. Such is the way of their government, Emperors and Empresses are chosen based on their achievements rather than birth rights, bloodlines or divine prophesies. Voted in by their respected councils, any highly educated, status heavy individual may vie for the chance to rule ones nation.

Every 10 years a new emperor/empress is chosen. Unless the current emperor/empress is killed. Emperors/empresses are voted in by the council members of the current emperor or empress. However, upon the coronation of the new emperor/empress, the council is dissolved and the new emperor/empress chooses his/her new council. The council members of the old emperor/empress may individually lobby to keep their position. However, the final decision is based on the desires of the new emperor or empress.
