Strengths: Matthew is very perceptive and more intelligent than most people give him credit for. Despite his size he is quick on his feet. His only other strength is the fact that he's the best shot on the force.
Weaknesses: Due to the loss of his wife and child, Matthew is almost at his breaking point. A short and powerful temper don't help either. Another weakness is the fact that he tends to not think certain things through. He likes to jump into action. This fact tends to get him into trouble. Despite his size, Matthew does not have a lot of upper body strength. He has also been smoking since he was sixteen.
Matthew is a problem solver when it comes to people. He likes helping people and tends to consider other people before himself. He tends to be a bit of a smart ass, is usually making jokes, and he loves being a bit of a troll sometimes. He can be serious if need be. He was always interested in some of the less popular topics: conspiracy theories, aliens, the paranormal. Conspiracy theories being the one he was least into. He never dismisses anything as impossible.
Matthew was born and raised in Ohio. He lived in New Carlisle most of his life. His father left before he was even born. Growing up was hard because he was never the most social person. With only a few friends, he was always getting picked on and bullied. He never knew that the man who was raising him wasn't his real father. He was only seven when he found out, which really messed with his head. He left a few years later which didn't help Matthew's mental stability.
Growing up wasn't much fun either. Matthew was constantly listening to complaints from his mother and grandmother about how much better he could be doing in school. It wasn't that he was having trouble. It was just the fact that he wasn't trying. He saw no real point in doing any more work than what he needed to do to pass. Through high school, he had plenty of friends but was constantly depressed. He tried talking to other people, but no one would be serious about it. He hid it well and never let people know. And, of course, people went to him with their problems.
After graduation, Matthew was at a party. This party was the turning point of his life. He had met a girl at a concert and she invited him to that party. Her name was Ciara. They had both gone overboard on the drinks and took the party to a more private location. After that night, they started dating. A little over a month later, they found out that she was pregnant. His mother wasn't very happy to find this out. Taking initiative, Matthew joined the police force in Dayton. He had no problem with the academy. After a few months his daughter, Destiny, was born.
After a few years, he had built a nice life in Dayton and it was going great. Recently he had found information leading to a major drug bust. A local gang wasn't happy about it and found out Matthew was the one who was responsible. One night when he was on patrol, someone burned down his home with Ciara and Destiny inside.
