In the year 2015, a virus breaks out, infecting only one 50000th of the population of central Japan. The few who were lucky enough became guardians. Guardians are humans with supernatural abilities which can be inhuman strength, endurance, reflexes, power over an element etc.
Those who werent so lucky became demons. Demons are people who have turned into monster like creatures which devour living beings. Many can disguise themselves as normal humans but with a wicked personality. But most of them have to hide until night, where they creep out their hiding places in search for prey. Only a few of the demons have similar powers to the guardians but in a different way. Demons can have inhuman strength and endurance as well as no feeling for pain. The few with special abilities mostly have internal weapons such as a tail with a poisonous spike or a bone shooting arm.

It happens that the virus only infected 14 to 25 year olds and there is no cure in sight. The only way to keep the population safe is to find and kill the demons.
The story begins at a local school where some students and young teachers seem to have the virus and have become guardians. But not all at their school are guardians or humans.
