GENERAL APPEARANCE
- Marran is normally clad in heavy clothing and endeavors to cover as much of his body as possible. As such he normally covers his face with a hood and various scarves and he wears a long coat and leather jerkin, also he often wears bandages or rags on or around these items giving him a rather scruffy appearance. He is around 6 foot in height but augments this with his hood and thick soled boots. Despite his clothing he is of a light build and would be rather unassuming if it weren't for his strange attire.
That being said in a crises or time sensitive situation he will very rarely stop to think and will often take the action that appears most appropriate at that point, even if the outcome will be less than favorable, something he would write off as βthe heat of the moment.β However he is unlikely to charge into such scenarios and if given time will carefully plan out his movements though it's more likely he will revert to spontaneous action if the plan goes even slightly awry.
Since he tends towards ruined area's or places abandoned by humanity he has a keen interest in history and if he is particularly engrossed he will follow any lead to glean information about certain ruins or settlement remains. Furthermore while he has no problem with human activity he mistrusts machines and more advanced tools, not for a lack of understanding but merely because he views older ways as better, relying on the natural order on the basis of βif it ain't broke, don't fix it.β
- Sand manipulation: Marran's main ability is that he can generate and manipulate sand, he can only generate it from his hands and has limited control over it. He is capable of firing it at high pressure which can blind or disorient at low pressures but could kill or wound at higher ones. Given sufficient time it is possible he could whip up a sandstorm although generating the materials on such a scale would take a lot of time without a lot of naturally occurring sand. While he has not had sufficient training he could manipulate the sands shape and density to create barriers though maintaining one would be a considerable challenge.
Affinity for the abandoned: When in area's ruined or abandoned by human kind (E.g ruins or places where human structures once stood) Marran can detect any artifacts or items that might remain and whether others have visited recently.
Dreaming: If secluded enough and given enough time Marran can enter a dream state, in this state he is capable of gaining clarity on his thoughts and healing from wounds, it also slows his metabolism to the point where he will require very little nourishment and can be used if he is trapped without supplies. While he is totally defenseless in this state anyone making physical contact may be pulled into the dream, though it's not difficult to exit from.
Dust Teleport: In an extreme situation Mirran could turn himself into dust, and scatter, being blown to another location by the wind and reforming there, acting as a kind of slow teleport. However this ability is unreliable and may not take him very far at all, furthermore if some of the dust he transforms into is detained he will not be able to move very far at all. Finally, reforming himself is not an instant thing and could take hours if he is not fully concentrating.
WEAPONS/TOOLS
- Machete: A sturdy blade picked up many years ago, it is always kept sharp and serves a variety of purposes.
Talisman: While this item has little magical power in and of itself it has sentimental value and is useful as something to focus on when performing bigger feats of magic.
STRENGTHS
- -Single minded in terms of achieving his goals. -Observant and will always take in his surroundings. -Highly agile and can move deceptively quickly despite his heavy clothing.

- -His lack of human contact means he has difficulty forming any kind of long term relationships. -Very little regard for peoples property or possessions -Difficulty in controlling or focusing attacks meaning they can be interrupted.

However a change occurred when his mentor suggested he was ready enough to attempt a trip into the:βDeep Desertβ how much of this actually transpired and how much was a hallucination is unknown but a mere few days later his mentor returned with no sign of Marran, the badly shaken man informed the tribe that they had been set upon and separated by some kind of spirit and that in all likelihood Marran was trapped, the shaman claiming that should he spend even a day more in such a place he would return mad or not at all.
It was 2 weeks before someone was spotted wandering out of a dust storm from the north and though the person had the appearance of Marran they were significantly changed in their outlook. He was more somber and while he remarked at the beauty of the landscape he showed little of his previous love for his friends and family. Instead he warned them against the deserts and soon after he left, possibly out of fear of his family who now viewed him as possessed or possibly for a reason known only to him and what was hidden in the dunes.
He crossed to the edges of his country visiting various settlements and learning the ways of several countries before setting off back into the desert, as he entered adulthood he began to actively seek ruined or forgotten places unable to fully break away from human life but with no wish to fully integrate. His powers being a cause of fright or even aggressive action for some. It was only a few years ago that he came across a new settlement owned by a people who told him of a country far to the north and a place where he might find others in a similar position to him. And so he traveled to Japan eventually seeking his way to Gensokyo in the hopes of finding somewhere he could truly call home.
