C R E A T I O N . . .

It’s been many years since superheroes rose up to protect the Earth and its inhabitants. It all began with the creation of Captain America during WWII, and since then more heroes, and subsequently, villains, have made themselves known. Some heroes such as the Avengers and Justice League have made themselves known to society, whether that was desired or not. While others, like the X-men, have remained in hiding. Either way, the world is no longer in the dark about the existence of heroes or villains.

For decades, these heroes have courageously defended and protected the citizens of Earth, along with many other planets in the universe. Our reach in the galaxy has shortened due to the knowledge from some intergalactic heroes like Thor, Superman and the Guardians of the Galaxy. But the current reign of heroes have reached their end. Some have died in service, while others desire to hang up their cape and retire. Many of these heroes could not leave innocent people defenseless and in return decided to pass on their legacy to their children. These proteges have inherited their parents skills, abilities and powers, while also growing up watching and being trained by their parents.

Many of these children attended Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters during their younger years, up through High School. A good starting ground that helped these students learn how to hone their abilities, while also getting a proper education. Professor X always desires the best for his students, wanting them to have bright futures to pursue whatever they wish… Be that a hero or a lawyer.

Although Prof. X’s school was marvelous in many ways, some heroes still didn’t think it was enough for when another attack presents itself. So before throwing in the towel, Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark came together and funded the Descendant Academy. An elite, highly secretive facility that focused on the intense and vigorous training of the worlds finest heroes. Recruits were pulled from the most powerful and prestigious of proteges, only gaining entrance into the Academy if chosen. Bruce and Tony are highly selective about who joins the academy wanting uniquely useful and talented heroes to take up the reigns.

These Descendants come from all walks of life. Some are children of the most infamous and powerful heroes in the universe, some of simple human vigilantes and some… are even children of villains trying to get a clean slate for their family name. They all have been chosen to study, train and learn so that they can become the new saviors of the world.

Hydra has been around as a looming threat since WWII when it was founded by a former Nazi commander. In short, their goal is global domination which is now expanding to most of the galaxy. Hydra has taken interest in current advances in intergalactic travel and their desire has expanded along with it. Their imminent threat involves the kidnapping and experimentation of enhanced individuals, brainwashing them to use them as weapons. But in their wake, they anhililate opposing forces, human and mutant, to achieve their goal. Eventually as part of their overarching domination, they intend to rid the galaxy of all enhanced.

The Brotherhood of Mutants is a group dedicated to the cause of mutant superiority over humans. They embrace that their mutations or evolutionary, and that they deserve to rise about homo sapiens. Their goal is to either eradicating humanity, or subjugating it. This group was founded, and still ran, by Magneto. Unlike Hydra, they do not attempt to take any enhanced against their will, but recruit them for ’the greater good.’ They don’t target other mutants, but if they get in the way, the Brotherhood has no qualms with taking them out.

R U L E S

I apologize in advance for the weird and somewhat excessive rules I have. This is my second attempt at this RP. The first lasted a fairly long while, but I let wayyyy too many people in and it subsequently hurt the RP’s duration. I really want this to last awhile. So, this is my way of trying to weed out the flakey and non-loyal people to get something truly awesome. If you have question, concerns, complaints or think I’m horrible because of this, feel free to PM me lol. Also passwords will be sprinkled throughout the rules.

Returning RPers & friends x // x Just because you were in the original does not guarantee you a spot in the reboot. Same goes for people I know on here. This is nothing personal, I still think you all are awesome and don’t want to offend or hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m just being highly selective about who I let in. i.e. people who can post once a week, 500+ words, etc.

I will not accept any WIPs x // x In the past, once I accept a CS even if it is a WIP, people tend to not finish the CS then. So, I will wait until it is completely finished to accept it. Also, for those of us who have multiple characters, you can ONLY post for completed characters, WIPs cannot be in a post. Password 1: Who founded the Descendants Academy?

Reservations x // x Not on a first come, first serve basis. I reserve the right to decline characters and all roles are competitive. If you’re wanting to request a reservation, it will be a slightly different process compared to most RPs. I will not be acknowledging OOC reservations. They all should be submitted by PM, but that doesn’t mean we can’t chat and goof off in the general OOC :p Reservations should include : passwords, real FC & parentage.

Writers x // x My goal is no more than 10 writers. This has a potential to fluctuate, but I’m holding pretty firm to 10. I don’t want to let in too many people to the point where this gets bogged down. The more writer’s usually the quicker an RP dies. Also, no matter how far into this RP we are, if you’re interested in joining, contact me. There’s a possibility someone dipped, or we’re looking for more characters. Password 2 : Which superhero or villain would you want to go on a date with?

You have 3 days to get a WIP submitted x // x Once I’ve given you the green light for a character, you need to have a WIP submitted within 3 days. This could literally have nothing on the CS, and I won't accept it but I don't want to keep a reservation forever and then the CS is never made. Also, you have a week to finish the CS, unless you speak with me and we discuss an extension.

• Ages from 21-35. I want to avoid the stereotypical bunch of teenagers. These descendants are at their peak physicality and age. I want them mature (relatively speaking) adults, like past superheroes when they were in their prime. I’m willing to allow for characters older than this range, but if you want to go younger the chances I will say no, but you can try to run it past me and we can talk about it.

• One superhero/villain per descendant. I don’t want people mixing the pot to get hybrid children and a mix of powers. There are some exceptions, but those can be discussed via PM. I know I allowed it last time, but not this time. So, keep it to one “special” parent and the other is an average Joe. They can be a comic book character but not a hero or villain (i.e. Pepper Pots or Jane Foster) Password 3 : How frequently are you online and post?

• One Descendant per hero/villain. I “might” be willing to allow exceptions but since this academy seeks out unique and powerful proteges it wouldn’t make sense for there to be two superman descendants. Again, everything is negotiable in PMs.

• All powers and abilities are inherited from the dominant parent. Descendants cannot develop new abilities that the parent did not already possess.

You CAN however have as many characters as you can handle x // x Alternate genders to keep everything fairly balance. Also do not monopolize all the super powerful or super popular heroes or villains. Keep this diverse. The best ones are the characters that are underrated, or overlooked. Password 4 : On average, what's your post word count? Current, not necessarily what the site says.

Gettin’ the boot x // x If you’re MIA from OOC or posting for over a week, I will send you a warning PM about needing to post. But, if you’re stalling the RP for too long, I will talk with the other writers and we’ll either : write out, kill or move past your character. I don’t like kicking people, but if you disappear or whatever it will happen. If you’re going to be gone or going through something just let me know. Life happens and we can talk about it.

OOCs x // x I will have a decent amount of OOC boards for penthouses, NPCs, relations, etc. I’d appreciate leaving the conversations for the main OOC so we don’t clutter the other boards with stuff that isn’t relevant to it.

General Rules x // x Violence, adult language and adult situations will happen so if you cannot handle that you may not want to join. I encourage romance, it’s fun and we all enjoy complicated romance stories. Kissing and what not is fine, but when this get handsy... or naked. Just fade to black, and have your characters imply it later or whatever. We have imaginations, plus site rules and stuff :p Don’t control someone else’s character without their ok, this includes their NPCs. Also this meant to be fun so please no OOC fighting. Any issues can be directed through me and I'll handle it :)

The last couple of days had been quite long for the Black twins. Though to Roman, it didn't feel as long as it did when his mother and grandfather spoke with the Al Ghuls. How they managed to convince them that them coming to Descents Academy was still lost on him. Yet somehow whatever they promised worked. Now here they were on their way to a place that probably wouldn't care for them. At least, if their name followed them then they wouldn't.

Of course Ra's had made sure they received the best transportation. It had to be befitting of his most successful creations. They'd first taken a private jet. Though now they were traveling via limousine with members of The League following behind with their personal items. Their father followed in one of the cars. Rose had been insistent on him not joining them. Not at all surprising consider their disdain for each other after he'd been the one to torture her children. Her children. Whom she was choosing now to keep safe after all these years. Better late than never.

Roman sat beside his mother in silence. They'd already run through enough topics not warrant anymore conversation. So now he simply sat their poised looking across at his twin sister, Kezia, who laid sprawled over the seat with crayons in hand. She'd spent most of the trip being a bit of a nuisance. Talking off everyone's ear about anything and everything that seemed to get her excited. It lasted until she began begging for a coloring book that had a unicorn plastered across its cover. Slade Wilson, who could never deny his favorite grandchild, quickly caved and bought it for her with a box of crayons. Just like that, the world's most notorious killer was rendered helpless by the will of a little girl.

One good thing did come of that purchase: Kezia was mostly silent during the rest of the trip. All of her attention was panned towards creating the perfect color schemes while burning through the cassettes in her Walkman. Another gift from Slade. Most of her possessions were either gifts from Slade, Ra's, Talia, or their father. She seemed to have a certain knack for getting grown men and women to cater to her childish desires.

Roman couldn't contain the smile that crept onto him as he watched his sister in silence. She was muttering along to her song. Every so often she'd take a break from her masterpiece to play air drums or guitar. In those moments, Roman would let out a soft chuckle. He couldn't help himself from enjoying moments like this. Kezia may be a borderline psychopathic killer... But you would never guess it upon first glance. She simply didn't understand things the way that he did and who could really blame her? They went through a lot. They just happened to deal with it in very different ways. Roman just happened to choose to grow up and be in touch with his emotions while Kezia chose another path. An easier path. He may not agree with this or her thirst for blood, but he loves her dearly. Especially in simple moments like this. No contracts, diplomatic events, or 'training'. Just simple semi-normal family moments to be shared between brother and sister.

Kezia suddenly perked up to a seated position. She clapped her hands and giggled with excitement before ripping the page out of her book. She practically hurled herself over to Roman to show him what she did. She couldn't stop bouncing in the seat while Roman looked over what she accomplished. He was shocked. Kezia someone managed to color within the lines in a moving limo and all of her combinations even followed color theory. When did she even learn to do that?

"Misha, tell me what you think. Is it pretty?" She asked him in Russian.

"It's beautiful, Sashenka."

"Can we hang it up in our new room?" Kezia's head tilted to the side like a puppy discovering a new sound. The same gesture Kezia used to get whatever she wanted.

"Of course! All works of art deserved to be hung up for all to see. Though that means we may also have to hang you up." He nudged her with his shoulder and she responded with another one of her childish laughter's as she clapped her hands together.

Rose Wilson was not as amused. "In English you two. We're here."

The atmosphere quickly changed as Roman quieted back down. They pulled up to the front of the building and piled out. Kezia immediately took off the second the door opened. She ran straight towards the various flowers decorating the outside. She picked several different flowers that totaled up to the exact number of students she was told attended. It was gonna be her little greeting present for everyone. She was very excited for the chance to get to pass them out and meet everyone. She was certain she would make tons of wonderful friends here and maybe even find new sparring partners.

Roman was the one to call back her attention as they followed their family inside. A staff member to the academy greeted them and lead them into the office of Bruce Wayne. Rose, Slade, and Roman took a seat. Kezia decided now was the time to dance around the room and explore everything she could get her hands on. Bruce, thankfully, ignored this as he addressed them. The conversation went on for awhile though the details aren't exactly important save for Rose nearly making her way over Bruce's death once he informed her of the events that took part at last night's gala.

Kezia didn't really pay attention until the name of Cassius Thompson was brought up as one of the students captured. She was surprised he managed to get taken with his powers. Nevertheless, she was sure to be seeing him soon even if that meant having to rescue the damsel in distress. After all, they did share a history and were rather good friends now despite Roman not exactly being his biggest fan. She wasn't going to stand for him not accompanying her here.

The twins were soon let out into the hallway. Bruce informed them that he first needed to meet with another student who was going to show them around. Kezia didn't listen to anything he had to say though as she took off yet again. She came barreling down the hallway just as a giant mass of muscle turned the corner. She leaped into the air and wrapped her arms and legs around his body in a tight embrace. "Uncle B! I've missed you!" It was Nathaniel Santos. A family friend and former student of The League.

The sound of the sink flowed through the back of Nathaniel's mind as gripped each edge. He still wasn't up to full strength after the doses of anti-venom he'd been hit with. How were they even able to get his formula? Did they break into his room? Find a sample and replicate it? How did they know everyone's weakness?

His mind continued to race with more and more questions as he stared himself down in the mirror. A change of clothes laid beside him. A nurse handed them to him on his way out so he could change out of his suit drenched in Hydra blood. There was still blood on his face and hands. They must not have had time to wash it off while they were patching up all the students.

Time...

"I'll help you, Nathaniel," Tobias's words echoed through his mind. "And I'm sure everyone else wants revenge too. But, we need to heal first or we'll be useless and our friends will die." Him and Tobias weren't exactly friends but it seemed he was the only one in that moment that knew exactly how to settle Nathaniel for a short while. Maybe it was because of their understanding of what it's like to be seen by the actions of their father. Maybe it was as simple as neither of them being particular fans of social interactions. Whatever it was. His support and comfort was the only thing keeping Nathaniel somewhat in check.

He cupped his hands together and began to wash the blood off of his face. He moved slowly given the injuries he took once he removed most of his clothing. His jaw was bruised, various bruises across his body, and maybe a few broken ribs. His body needed time to heal as well. It'd be another day or two before he was up to his usually self. But unlike Tobias and the others, Nathaniel made a promise. "I will find you, Francita. I promise." He was going to keep it too.

Nathaniel was finally dressed and made his way down the hall. Why he was the one being called to Bruce's office was beyond him. Though really he should have been paying more attention towards the rushing figure that nearly tackled him to the ground. Oh, no... A familiar smell of flowers and white hair was clutching onto him like a spider monkey. "Uncle B! I've missed you!"

They were here. Why now wasn't exactly important as Nathaniel embraced the only person allowed to call him Bane. Kezia Black, daughter of Rose Wilson, granddaughter of Slade Wilson, twin sister to Roman Black, and allegiance to The League of Assassins where they first met. Nathaniel had been her sparring partner. Though punching bag seemed to be a more accurate term given her abilities. The two still grew close over their years together. It seemed to the point of Kezia consistently referring to him as uncle. He actually didn't mind it so much. He wasn't exactly a fan of her 'hobbies' but he couldn't bring himself to hold it against. Something about her just seemed so innocent to everything she was a part of.

Nathaniel practically had to pry her off of him in order to meet with Bruce in his office alone. What was discussed remains, for now, private. Once they stepped out, he was asked to escort the two down to the infirmary to meet the other students. This was surely going to be interesting to watch.

Cas half listened to the others discuss what had happened, but his eyes stayed trained solely on Wren. She somehow managed to joke around even in such a dire circumstance, Cas found that admirable. Letting his gaze fall down to the oozing bullet wound Wren was looking at, Cas grimaced at the sight of it. He'd been trying his best not to look, knowing that what he'd find wouldn't be pretty. The rushed bandage that had been thrown on his arm had become almost entirely crimson by this point and Cas knew he was in for a nasty infection if they were to stay in this hell hole any longer.

Wren still managed to make him smile though, with her awful British accent. "I'm ok... 'Tis but a scratch," The small smile pushed the gag further back into Cas' mouth and he immediately dropped it. Whoever had tied it was not a big fan of Cassius Thompson, it seemed. Moving his gaze from Wren for a moment, Cas realises that he was being looked at strangely by some of the other Descendants, no doubt because they hadn't a clue who he was. He thought himself an idiot for a moment for not hiding while he had the chance, there was no way Hydra could've known he was coming that day and so he would've simply been mistaken for another U.N. official. But no, Cas had to run after Wren Wilson - the most capable person he could think of in a fight. He couldn't exactly figure why he had done what he did, all Cas knew was that in the moment he was not about to let her be taken by the Hydra bastards.

Watching as Wren attempts to comfort Alec, someone who Cas may have never met but certainly knew by reputation. He realises that she may act all badass in public but clearly Wren was a lot softer than she let on, especially with her friends. It's not long after that Cas hears the heavy door of their confinements open, as three Hydra soldiers step into their cell.

They discuss who to take first, eyes on Alec and Frankie as they do so. It was clear to see that Frankie was incredibly vulnerable right now, and while he didn't know much about Alec, Cas did see the panic on his face after he awoke. They were certainly the easiest targets right now.

"Yeah but that one," One soldier pipes up, looking pointedly to Cas, "If we broke him first, he could help with the others. It'd make our job much easier." Fuck, Cas pulls once more at his restraints, to no avail. "Then we can just kill them all and be done with it." The other guard nods his head as he makes his way over to Cas, grabbing his keys. "Looks like you get to go first, Mr. Thompson." Cas is immediately devising a plan in his head, figuring that as soon as he's free of his restraints, if he can just pull off the gag then surely he could get them all out of here. Inhaling deeply through his nose, Cas preps himself to attack as soon as he is able.

However, before the solider is even able to unlock one of the restraints, Wren calls out to them. "Hey!" Cas glares at her, trying to get her to shut up before she got another harpoon to the chest. "Miserable pieces of shit! You can't even handle us! You have to drug us and chain us up... Then go after the one person who'd make your jobs easier!? You're all fucking pathetic!" She was purposefully taunting them, deterring them from Cas as the solider by his side walks over to her.

When he grasps Wren's throat in his fist Cas attempts to shout at him to stop, but nothing comes out. "Listen here you little whore," Frowning, Cas kicks out at the solider but he is too far for his foot to reach, "Say one more thing, and I'll drag that perky little ass of yours out by your hair."

"Go. Fuck. Yourself." Wren manages to get out with his hand still around her throat, surely she wasn't doing this just to protect Cas? He knew that Wren was the most capable of handling whatever the Hydra soldiers had in store for them, but that didn't mean he was willing to let her take his place.

As Wren bites off a piece of flesh from his nose, Cas has to try hard not to look too visibly happy. While the other descendants grimaced or glanced away, Cas couldn't help the thought that passed through his mind, Goddamn she's amazing.

The soldier clutches at his nose, pain etched onto his features before demanding that they take her instead. Unable to protest, Cas does all he can, pulling futilely at his restraints once more. His shouts are muffled and ignored by the soldiers as they grab Wren, though the other two seem reluctant to go for her at first, in favour of Cas, the wounded soldier near-screams at them to take her and so they follow orders. His blood boils when he is referred to as Kilgrave, that was the name that his father went by and not something that Cas ever wanted to be called.

Just before she is dragged from the room, Wren catches Cas' eye, sending him a wink. He knew she could handle herself, but when one of the soldier's snaps her neck, Cas can't help but feel an immediate sense of panic. Knowing that he needed to find them a way out of here, now more than ever.

ImagePetra would have been content to stew in her own emotions and get over her anger alone, but Ross's shoes sounded down the hall behind her, and before she'd really registered it his hand was on her arm, not tight, but unyielding. "No. Ya don't get ta do that!"

"Ya think I don' know that ya could've helped? Yeh could kill me with a bat of those gorgeous eyes of yers. 'Em not a hero. 'Em not gonna save da world some day. People like meh er insignificant compared ta gods like ya."

She had prepared herself for insults and anger. She had not prepared herself for this. Taken aback, all she could do was stare dumbly at him as he talked, waving his other hand around. She listened as he talked about the agenda he'd overheard, about how Wren had been taken. "I - I had no idea," she tried to say, but her throat had gone dry at knowing how close she had been to being a prisoner were it not for Ross's quick thinking, and she couldn't form the words.

He'd let go of her, but she remained frozen where she stood, letting him talk. Somewhere, through the haze of shock blurring her thoughts, an irrepressibly sensible part of her spoke up: Stay. You must not waver. Even like this, she couldn't break free of the automatic defense mechanisms she'd built around herself since forever.

"'N fuck Tobias, I couldn't let ya be taken!" His eyes were almost painful to look into, burning into her, but she stood steady, her face carefully schooled blank. "I wouldn't! 'Em not important, but you are. I'm sorry, Petra... But, I won't apologise for what I did. 'N I'd do it again without a moment's hesitation, even if it meant me life for yers."

He looked away, and the spell broke. Her feet suddenly unglued from the floor, she shuffled a little, one heel clicking impossibly loud in the ensuing silence. She couldn't respond in defense, only watch as Ross left her, heading back for the infirmary. "But you are important," she murmured to the now-empty hall.

Unwilling to go in, where Ross might be waiting, Petra lingered in the hall, pacing a few steps up and down to help clear her head. Eventually the mentors arrived, and she slipped in after them to stand in a corner, mostly unnoticed. A nurse hurried over, clearly alarmed, but Petra reassured her she was fine, asking instead for a glass of water. Tutting about stubborn students, the nurse left, presumably to find her new charge water.

"It's nice to see you all are well," Mycroft began. Petra respected him, but that had to be a joke, surely. Hardly any of the students looked well by any standards, lying bruised and bandaged and in a state of panic following the Hydra attack.

"Wren Wilson, Alec Constantine, Petra Max--" Mycroft's eyes widened slightly as he met her gaze, and she raised a hand and wiggled her fingers in his direction, coupled with an ironic smile. Far friendlier than she'd ever been with any of the mentors, but then again this was an unusual situation. As he continued reciting the list of those taken hostage, a few heads swivelled in her direction, attention drawn by Mycroft's words, and she was suddenly acutely aware of how awful she must look, still in her dress and heels, her hair coming loose, blood and dust staining her skin and dress. Not to mention that she had gone missing shortly after the attack began, and presumed taken hostage. How could she face her fellow students? She had little right to stand there while the others were experiencing god-knows-what at Hydra's hands.

"...Even Tobias singlehandedly saved Thaddeus Ross's life." Hearing Tobias's name snapped Petra out of her inner turmoil. Gratitude towards Coulson for taking notice of and mentioning Tobias's actions filled her. He probably wouldn't agree with her view, but it showed everyone what she had always believed of him - that he wasn't a villain. Mycroft could go fuck himself.

She wove past students and nurses, squeezing through the chaos that was a roomful of agitated mutants to get to Tobias. One of the mentors passed her - Coulson. In an uncharacteristic show of affection, she reached out to clasp one of his hands between her own, looking up at the older man earnestly. "Sir - if there's anything I can do to aid in the search for the others..." She trailed off, unsure how to finish the offer. Powerful though she was, at the end of the day she was really just a frightened child, unable to step up to fulfill the role of adversary or friend where she was needed. And the mentors likely had a wider range of resources at their disposal, but she wanted to make sure they knew they had her, if they felt she was worth anything.

"And thank you, for, for Tobias. He's not a bad person. Thank you for seeing that." Having said what she had to say, she let go of him, moving towards where Tobias sat on his bed, accompanied by the Worthington girl.

Stealing a chair from beside the next bed, Petra dropped down beside Tobias's bed, kicking her heels off and crossing her legs at the knee, heedless of her decorum. "Hey. How are you feeling? I'm sorry I disappeared. I was - preoccupied elsewhere."

ImageRiley didn't notice as Andrew struggled to reunite his mind and body, but his attention was regained the moment Andrew shot upright, almost the same way Riley had when he'd woken earlier.

"Whoa, dude. It's okay. Just breathe, yeah?" He leaned forward to place a hand on Andrew's shoulder, trying to calm him down.

"What the hell happened?"

Riley let his hand drop back into his lap, sighing. "After you helped me with Sol, I passed out... I'm assuming you did too, after. Hydra kidnapped some of our number while we were trying to fight them off. " He shrugged. "I doubt any of us could have stopped Hydra, they knew what they wanted and they caught us unprepared. But, oh god, Andrew, Frankie... they took Frankie."

There it was, the emotion that he'd been unable to feel earlier. Maybe telling Andrew what happened, it was as if he'd finally passed all opportunities for denial, as if he'd just opened the door and stared the truth in the eye, with nowhere to hide from it. Frankie was gone, and he hadn't been able to do anything.

The buzzing began in his chest, his heart jackrabbiting with a ceaseless anxiety. Coming to the Academy and accepting his destiny as a Barton, he'd always known he might get hurt, maybe face mortal danger. What he'd never considered was that any friends he made there would be equally susceptible to the same time risk. And of all of them, it had to be Frankie...

When Riley finally raised his head to look at Andrew again, he realised that his eyes had filled with tears, and he was shaking, gripped by a chill that he couldn't get rid of. He ran both hands over his face, drawing in a deep, rasping breath. "Sorry. It's probably, ah, shock." In an attempt to turn the focus away from him, he struggled to find a new conversation topic. "How are you feeling?"

Image"I thought I blocked you?"

Wynne almost laughed out loud. It seemed absurd that, in all the carnage and chaos, he'd remembered that one tiny act of heroism. "You did, but there was a lot flying around." She was cut off by a loud sound - Santos. Still she lingered there, standing by his bed as she watched Tobias speak to him, ruffling her wings a little to try to find a position that would alleviate the pain. It didn't quite work, more pinpricks of pain jabbing into them as the feathers shifted.

Tobias staggered backward towards her. Instinctively she reached out, intending to catch him if the need arose, but he sat down on his bed instead. She withdrew her hands, clenching and unclenching them awkwardly, hoping he hadn't seen the aborted attempt at help. Here, among people like her who'd had the chance to train and improve themselves, she felt out of place, weaker and less useful. He motioned at the chair, and Wynne sat down gratefully. At least she knew he didn't want her gone, which she had been anticipating.

The mentors filed in just then. If any of them had noticed Wynne among their number, they didn't seem surprised, nor did they comment on it. Hopefully they realised her commitment to her duty... or they just didn't care, which was fine by her either way.

"...taken hostage last night like it was nothing." That seemed rather an unfair statement, knowing the fight that had been put up, however stacked the odds against them were. Still, she made note of those who had been taken, should it come in handy later. The mentors' quibbling before their students seemed hardly professional, but then again it was a stressful situation for everyone.

"Even Tobias singlehandedly saved Thaddeus Ross's life. This all won't go unnoticed by the U.N., the academy, or anyone else." No, it wouldn't. That was news to her - she hadn't seen it take place - but it certainly put Tobias in a much better light. All the more reason to stand up for his trustworthiness to the U.N., should the need arise.

"Don't placate me." The words came low, but Wynne heard them all the same. That was surprising. Did he not want to be recognised for his deeds? Surely the acknowledgement would help his standing among his peers, or did he not care?

After Mycroft Xavier left, Wynne turned to Tobias. It would mean putting aside her pride, but in this case she didn't mind, not at all. "I just wanted to..."

She never got to finish her sentence. Petra Maximoff sat down on the opposite side of the bed, and Wynne shut her mouth with a snap. It could wait. She didn't want to reveal herself in front of anyone else.

Image"Over here."

The voice was accompanied by pressure on the bed, just by her right leg. Jensen looked up, too numb to even be surprised. She let Ross lie down beside her, shifting to her left a little so that they could both fit side by side, not uncomfortably.

Turning her face away, she stared unblinking at the ceiling, listening to the nurse enquire after Ross's IV. Considering the state of his face - worse than hers, somehow - she wondered how an IV could seem like the most important thing right now. "Fer the love of God, woman. It's on wheels int it?" Jensen exhaled shakily, making a noise that could almost be a chuckle. Good old Ross.

She drifted off for a little after that, only coming back when Ross sat up and reached a hand towards her. "Lemme see it."

"See what," she mumbled, before realising that he meant her injured left hand. She stretched it across her body to him, noticing as it passed her line of vision that blood was still leaking from the cuts, and that the side, which she'd hit the stand with, was beginning to swell and bruise.

Ross was efficient, plucking the remaining shards out of her flesh quickly. For a moment, all she heard was his breathing and the tapping of shoes around the infirmary. Then he wrapped her hand in bandages, and gentle though he was, it still stung, and she sucked in a breath, hissing.

Ross let go and lay down again. She let her bandaged hand drop, resting it on her stomach. "Thanks."

"Don' worry, Jones. Wren is tough. She'll take care 'o Alec." Jensen turned her head to the side to face him, meeting his earnest gaze. "Aye give it a day before Wilson struts back in 'ere with one of their heads on a spike."

Jensen made that weird shaky chuckling sound again. "Better be at least three heads. That girl's got more fight in her big toe than any of you in this room combined." She paused to think. Her usual brand of snarky wouldn't work right now. "I know she's probably fine. I'm just terrified for her right now," she admitted, her voice soft in her exceptional moment of weakness.

Luckily, the mentors' arrival saved her from having to say more. "Are ya fuckin' mad?! We're half dead 'n half of us are gone!" Jensen jumped, startled by Ross's loud voice in her ear. She placed her uninjured hand on his arm, trying to calm him. "That's not going to bring them back, as admirable as your fire is."

It wouldn't, but she bet it felt good. She wanted to be angry. She wanted to throw what was remaining of the bedside stand at Mycroft's stupid bald head for putting the blame on them. She wanted to scream and cry and wreck things. But what good would that do? She barely had the energy to think, much less feel.

It was easier to think about inane things. Something to take their mind off the people they couldn't help lying cold and hungry and in pain somewhere.

Jensen turned towards Ross again. "So... how's your girlfriend?" She nodded towards Petra on the other side of the room, as though he needed any clarification. There weren't that many girls his eyeballs were popping out of his skull for.

Caitria glanced at the three Hydra soldiers entering the room out of the corner of her eye; they looked at the descendants as if they were evaluating who to take first. "Those two look like they're ready to break right now," one of them spoke up, gesturing towards Alec and Frankie. Why are they talking about their master plan out loud? Are they that cocky?

"Yeah but that one," another of them added, jabbing a finger in the new guy's direction, "if we broke him first, he could help with the others. It'd make our job much easier. Then we can just kill them all and be done with it."

That seemed to convince the other two. One of them approached, reaching for the keys attached to his belt. "Looks like you get to go first, Mr. Thompson."

Caitria wasn't selfless enough to offer herself in the place of someone she didn't know, but she knew the situation wasn't going to end like the silent, pathetic cooling of a white dwarf star.

It seemed that Caitria would be proven correct. As if on impulse (it probably was), Wren yelled at the guards. "Hey!" She kicked and thrashed, but the soldiers didn't turn their heads. "Miserable pieces of shit! You can't even handle us! You have to drug us and chain us up... then go after the one person who'd make your jobs easier!? You're all fucking pathetic!"

Now that certainly caught the soldiers' attention. "Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?"

"You, ya fuckin' pussy!" Wren hissed at him shamelessly, spitting in his face.

The brutal exchange between Wren and the Hydra soldiers continued, with one of the soldiers' nose bleeding and a broken jaw for Wren.

"Get her!" the soldier with the bloody nose barked.

"But, what about Kilgrave?" one of the others asked, motioning towards the new guy.

"Fuck him. Obviously, Ms. Wilson here wants to be first."

"But she heals . . . torturing her would be pointless. If we took Cassius first—"

"I DON'T FUCKING CARE! GET HER!"

Wren turned her head towards the other descendants, winking as the Hydra soldiers dragged her away. Caitria knew that, as a supposedly sentimental and empathetic being, she should feel quite a bit more concerned for her friend. But while Caitria feared the pain Wren was about to experience, she also understood the logic of the situation; the person being tortured would be able to try to get more information on the situation, and Wren, with her powerful healing, would be the best option for that. However, Caitria knew that Wren would undoubtedly feel pain - a necessary sacrifice, but one that lit a faint spark of worry in the blonde nonetheless.

There was a short moment of shocked silence amongst the group before Caitria spoke up. "Well, at least we know that one guard has quite the temper and is easily provoked," the blonde mused in a somberly dry tone. "Guess that's a good thing to be aware of; emotionally manipulating someone can prove to be a powerful tactic."

Riley sighed at Andrew's inquiry, dropping his hand from the other brunette's shoulder. "After you helped me with Sol, I passed out... I'm assuming you did too, after. Hydra kidnapped some of our number while we were trying to fight them off. I doubt any of us could have stopped Hydra, they knew what they wanted and they caught us unprepared. But, oh god, Andrew, Frankie... they took Frankie."

Andrew placed a hand on the younger man's back, rubbing it gently in soothing circles. He never had anything personal against Frankie, but there was an inborn rivalry Andrew felt with her due to their parentage. But he was aware of the closeness between Riley and Frankie. Andrew felt like something was punching him in the heart as his friend tried to hide his tears.

"We'll get her back," Andrew stated strongly with much conviction. "We'll get all of them back."

Riley raised his head, eyes filled with tears. He breathed deeply, running his hands over his face as Andrew continued rubbing his back soothingly. "Sorry. It's probably, ah, shock. How are you feeling?"

Andrew knew Riley was trying to change the topic, but didn't comment on it. "I mean, considering all that's happened, I can't possible say that I feel great," Andrew commented, a faint note of bitterness behind his words. "But for the situation, I'm doing pretty well." There's was a pause of silence between the two before Andrew spoke again. "So, uh, who else was taken? I know Mycroft just said it, but I wasn't... paying attention."

Thaleia's verbal assault of the nurse was interrupted by Mycroft's lofty, unusually casual voice. "It's nice to see that you all are well. As -"

"Are ya fuckin' mad?!" Ross interrupted unabashedly. "We're half dead 'n half of us are gone!" Thaleia wasn't the fondest of her fellow descendants, but she wholeheartedly agreed with McCulloch on this occasion. Besides, she hated Mycroft more than any of her peers.

"Yes, Mr. McCulloch," Mycroft was too fucking nonchalant, rolling his eyes, as if the situation was another one of the Academy's simulations.

Alfred spoke up in a cracking voice. "He just means, we're very happy that you all survived the attack. It was a horrible situation and we're all so proud of how you all fought to protect each other and the academy."

"But, they didn't,"
Mycroft shot Alfred's attempt at gentle words down. "Wren Wilson, Alec Constantine, Petra Max -" Mycroft halted in his speaking when he noticed said redhead in the crowd. Thaleia raised an eyebrow as Mycroft continued. "- Lilith Isley, Ulrich Zod, Caitria Allen, Francis Parker and Cassius Thompson were all taken hostage last night like it was nothing. If you all would have fought as a team, like we've been trying to tell you for years now... none of this would have happened. Hydra would have been stopped before they laid a hand on anyone."

Thaleia clenched her jaw. The fucktwat could fight off Hydra himself with the shit attitude he had. "Mycroft," Phil interjected, clearly not agreeing with the other man's words. "They were unarmed and unprepared. They fought admirably, all things considered."

The two mentors went on arguing. "Even Tobias singlehandedly saved Thaddeus Ross' life," Phil commented, which did cause a flicker of surprise in Thaleia, although it really shouldn't have.

Mycroft blatantly ignored Phil's argument, speaking up once again. "J.A.R.V.I.S. is currently working to compile every piece of information from the attack that he can to try and find out where the other Descendants were taken. Once he is finished, we will use the data to form our next plan of attack. We can only hope we reach them before Hydra kills the Descendants... Or worse, before they find a way to exploit their powers to make their own super mutant weapons."

Mycroft urged the other mentors to take their leave with him, but Phil and Alfred refused in favor of helping the nurses. Thaleia's cold eyes followed Mycroft as he exited the room. "Wow," she muttered under her breath. "What a prissy bitch - get your own damn army to fight your battles if you wanna have such demanding expectations."

Kezia could hardly contain her own excitement over meeting the other students. She kept skipping down ahead of Nathaniel and Roman only to return gushing over how amazing it was going to be. "I'm gonna have all new sparring partners and maybe this time they won't break so easily!" She skipped away again adding in a twirl for a little flare. She returned yet again to inquire the boys over what it might be like. "Do you think they'll like the flowers? I wonder if they'll like my knife collection. Maybe we can even compare. I bet they'll love the flowers because I picked them out all by myself to make them feel better." She couldn't help but giggle as she skipped away again.

Despite whatever was troubling Roman, this was an amazing opportunity for her. She couldn't wait for the chance to make all new friends and have a great time at this school. It certainly would beat having to spar humans all day or listen to Roman complain about her methods. Maybe she'll even find someone who likes her methods like her friend Lilith. Lilith always encouraged her antics. Even Nathaniel accepted what made her different form everyone else.

The truth was, Kezia found it hard to keep friends. Making them was the simple part. She was an easily likable person. It was once people noticed her inability to cater to emotional needs that she lost them. It also didn't help that many people were not a fan of her enjoyment of assassination missions. She just couldn't help who she was and didn't even know how to change. Though it did help to have people like Cas, Lilith, and Nathaniel around. After all, they still stick around.

Once they arrived at the infirmary, Kezia was quick to make her rounds to every student in a bed. She handed them each a flower with a childish grin plaster across her face as she repeated the same line, "Hi, I'm Kizzy! This is for you!"

It took all restraint for Roman not to yell at his sister to settle down as they made their way through the halls. He understood her behavior but that didn't mean he condoned it. After all, he was looking to make a good impression on the group with all things considered. So it was only natural for him to worry the entire trip there over how he'd be able to do such a task.

Unlike Kezia, Roman didn't falter so heavily in the friend department. It came natural for him to draw people in and keep them there. Though he was quite picky with whom he chose to keep around. He simply didn't desire to force anyone to put up with the lifestyle he had no choosing in. This was why he chose to keep his friend group rather select. There was less damage control this way. And even less chances of him getting hurt emotionally by what Ra's may do to those he cares about if he ever falls out of line again.

It seemed as if ages had passed before they arrived in the infirmary. Of course Kezia wasted no time in thrusting herself as the center of attention. She went around introducing herself to each student while Roman screamed internally. He kept himself composed while he pitched in his own proper introduction, "Hello, my name is Roman Black and this is my sister, Kezia..."

"But you can call me Kizzy!"

"I understand this may seem a bit odd considering recent events but we are the two newest students to your academy. We wanted to extend our apologizes over what had unfolded last night and would like to offer our hand in anything you may need. We hope you can welcome us in so we can assist you in returning your fellow teammates."

Yes, it was a bit formal but it was all he could come up with. After all, it was the truth. Roman wanted to help. Though he specifically wanted to make sure Lilith was back safe form wherever she'd been taken.

Alec's shout sent Lilith jumping upright, half expecting to find somebody had entered the space with a torture kit or something of the sort, but there was no such threat. She waited for an explanation but none was given and that signaled the very beginning of a long haul. If shouting and complaining and crying already begun they were good as doomed and Lilith would have to introduce her villainess side to stay detached from emotions.

Then, in a timely manner as ever soldiers did actually enter. They spoke aloud of who would be good to ruffle at first referring to those closest to cracking, including Alec and Frankie, then a Mr. Thompson. The new guy. Lilith went wide eyed as they spoke about them like no more than cattle to the slaughter. And what were his abilities to make the rest fall in line so easy? Her eyes darted over to him as if he could provide some explanation before Wren piped up.

“Wren,”
her warning was well lost over the commotion. The restrains banging and thrashing and shouting. She didn't stand a chance. Even if she was heard, Wren wouldn't listen. And Lilith felt her own back arch up when one of the soldiers threatened her.

Sure enough the commotion continued and worsened to the point noses and jaws broke and the soldiers seized Wren and snapped her neck with Lilith's mouth falling agape slightly. She hated seeing her friend be dragged by the hair. She hated they even laid any hands on her even if it was a caress.

"Well, at least we know that one guard has quite the temper and is easily provoked," Caitra offered. "Guess that's a good thing to be aware of; emotionally manipulating someone can prove to be a powerful tactic."

If he even came back. And that was one verse how many other guards that were out there trigger and or torture friendly. However, Lilith didn't voice her little slice of pessimism. Because nobody needed to hear it.

She twisted her wrist around and squirmed from her restraints again, grimacing at the awkward ways her limbs had to bend and stretch but it was to no avail. “All us metas and no one can break the restraints!” She exclaimed exasperated. If she could just unleash that secret weapon the soldiers took fancy to in Mr. Thompson. If anyone's restraints just fell a little loose. Or perhaps they had to wait until each one was tortured one by one.

Frankie sat there silent and in shock. It seemed that Wren was one of the more calm out of the group in the cell. She wondered if the fiery redhead decided to sacrifice herself because of her healing factor or because of the new guy. He seemed less than thrilled at the sight of her being dragged away. It probably was a combination of both the man and her abilities. Frankie could only hope that Wren knew what she was doing.

She didn't know what to expect in the time they sat around waiting. Waiting for death, torture... For Wren to be brought back to them. Would she be brought back? Or would Hydra find someway to get what they want from her and kill her. Frankie never thought of Wren as the type of person to break or spill the beans. Killing her would be next to impossible, but then again Hydra seemed to have done their homework. Could they kill her?

The thought unsettled her as she shifted where she sat, tugging half-heartedly at her restraints. Frankie's gaze fell to the man Wren saved, his eyes wide like a deer in headlights. Kilgrave, they called him. Where had she heard that name before? Something to do with Jensen and her mother, if she remembered correctly. Something about that seemed a bit fishy in her opinion. Some guy Frankie had never met is here with them in the cell. What if he was a plant?

"Well, at least we know that one guard has quite the temper and is easily provoked," Caitria said, breaking the silence. Her tone was dry, but it seemed like she was trying to find anything that could be useful. Even if they were grasping at straws. "Guess that's a good thing to be aware of; emotionally manipulating someone can prove to be a powerful tactic." It was a good point. But when it came to people with tempers, no one could piss someone off faster than Wren.

Her attention was drawn to Lilith who, once again, tugged at her restraints. “All us metas and no one can break the restraints!”

Frankie tilted her head back looking up at the restraints around her own wrists. Her brows furrowed as she tried to twist them to look for any sort of makers mark. She then looked around at all the other's bindings, trying to find some sort of answer. It was a silvery metal, but more like nickel or steel rather than actual silver or chrome. Dots started to slowly connect as she ran through the possibilities in her mind. Frankie slowly moved her right arm, pulling it as far away from the wall as possible before the chain halted her. Then with every ounce of strength in her, she slammed the cuff back against the hook in the wall of the same metal.

Her gaze shifted up to the cuff, and there wasn't a single dent or scratch in the metal... Even when she used strength well beyond that of a human. "I think these are made out of vibranium," Frankie said out loud more toward herself than the others. She sighed, letting her body fall back against the wall in defeat. "If that is the case, then we're not getting out of these without a key." She probably should have kept that to herself, hopelessness wasn't the answer. But also beating themselves up, or wearing themselves out wouldn't help either.

Ross smiled, as much as he could manage, when he was able to make Jensen chuckle. "Better be at least three heads. That girl's got more fight in her big toe than any of you in this room combined." He chuckled slightly, nodding his head. It was definitely true. Then she changed tones. Ross didn't mind her sarcasm but he could understand her need to tone it down, given the circumstances. "I know she's probably fine. I'm just terrified for her right now," she said quietly.

He propped himself up on his elbows with a discomforting grunt. His lips parted, encouraging words about to escape before cue ball walked in. Of course, anything and everything the fucker said put Ross on edge. He was talking as if they failed a simulation or training exercise... Not that they were attacked, some nearly killed and the others kidnapped. It didn't take long for what little self control he had left to boil over. Ross was already on edge from his wounds, and... then Petra. Mycroft was not what he needed right now. "Are ya fuckin' mad?! We're half dead 'n half of us are gone!"

Before he could say anything else, or get up the effort to stand up and confront the bastard, he felt Jensen's hand on his arm. "That's not going to bring them back, as admirable as your fire is." Ross clenched his jaw while his body tensed, his gaze unflinching from Mycroft as he rattled on. His anger was fighting to get out and he needed a release. He groaned as his left hand slammed into his IV. It sent the stand falling over, ripping the needle from his hand and caused the bags to burst when they hit the floor.

In the blink of an eye a nurse was at his side, frantically trying to check his hand and clean up the mess. Ross just held his hand up and she froze. "Just go help someone who actually needs it." She waited a moment and even attempted to try and help again. But, when he made eye contact with her showing that he wasn't kidding, the nurse finally gave up and moved on to a different descendant.

Once she was finally gone, Ross relaxed, leaning back in the bed once again. He felt a shift in the bed as Jensen turned to look at him. "So... how's your girlfriend?" She then nodded toward Petra like he needed clarification as to what she meant.

"She's not me girl—" Ross sighed, not even finishing the statement. It wasn't worth arguing over, he didn't have the energy. "She's fine," he replied with an aggravated tone. He went to cross his arms over his chest but winced when he put pressure on his broken ribs. Ross sighed, slowly looking over at the red head across the room. After a moment, he let his gaze fall to his lap, taking a moment before he responded. "She's mad at meh."

Before Ross could go into any details, or explain what had happened to himself and Petra the night before, there was another interruption in the med wing. He propped himself up slightly, as he watched as white headed twins entered the wing. Who in the hell were they? The girl seemed overly excited and bubbly, handing out... [/i]flowers?[/i] Seriously. Did she not know what had just happened to all of them. Instead of saying something, or doing... Anything, he sat there dumbfounded as he watched her make her way from person to person until she stopped before himself and Jensen.

"Hi, I'm Kizzy! This is for you!"

Ross looked between the blonde before him and Jensen, then back to the girl. His mouth was wide open in shock. "Eh what?"

Then the other one decided to step forward and make his presence known... In a slightly more formal way. "Hello, my name is Roman Black and this is my sister, Kezia..."

He groaned as he sat up and looked over at Jensen. He was feeling cooped up and suffocated in the medical wing, especially with the new addition of these... odd students. He wanted to leave, and god damn any nurse that tried to stop him. "Wanna go get drunk? Aye need me a fuckin' drink." Ross gave a mischievous grin that probably looked borderline sadistic with his face half purple and blue. He was going to live, that was enough. He saw no reason to linger in the medical wing where he was being watched like a hawk. What he needed... And probably half of the people in the room needed, was a damn drink.

Tobias' first comment toward Wynne definitely wasn't the most intelligent one. But it made her laugh, he guessed that counted for something, right? He didn't intend for her to laugh. Honestly, he couldn't recall a time where he ever made anyone laugh. But he had to start somewhere he supposed. "You did, but there was a lot flying around." True. He hadn't really thought about that. Tobias thought he was able to stop most of it, and his metal shield stopped the rest, but he was by no means perfect. At least no one died, that's all that mattered... For now.

After the abrupt arrival of Nathaniel, and then the less than friendly speech by Mycroft, he left while Coulson and Alfred stayed around to help them. At least two of the three mentors seemed to have a conscious and care about what happened, regardless of what Mycroft thought. In Tobias' opinion they did the best they could, given the circumstances. After all, it was Mycroft who had everyone leave their weapons back in their rooms. He couldn't help but imagine how the tables would have been turned if Wren and Thaleia could of had their guns, or Riley his bow.

His thoughts quickly came to a halt when Wynne turned toward him and began to speak. "I just wanted to..."

Before Wynne could continue Petra joined them, taking up a chair beside his bed and kicking off her heels. "Hey. How are you feeling? I'm sorry I disappeared. I was - preoccupied elsewhere."

Tobias glanced over toward Wynne slightly, wishing she would have finished whatever she was going to say. But then looked back to Petra, giving a slight shrug of his shoulder. "I'm alive. But, where were you?" He didn't want to linger on what happened to him. Coulson already said more than he would have liked. Tobias didn't come to the school to be seen as a hero, and he didn't want to be hailed as one above the others. They all were in the same boat, they all did what they could. Saving Thaddeus Ross was within his power, so he did it. Simple.

He could connect some of the dots, considering the way Ross flipped out and left the room when he mentioned Petra. Tobias could probably guess what happened, but he'd prefer it if she told him herself. At least she seemed uninjured, and he could only assume that Ross had something to do with that. But, it seemed as though the day was going to be full of surprises and interruptions. Maybe at some point he'd be able to finish a single conversation.

A new pair of students, apparently, were joining the school. Tobias had absolutely no idea how he felt about it. He sat there stiff and silent in his bed, watching as the one went around the room and the other made some sort of formal greeting. Hell of a time to join the academy. Something inside him said that seemed fishy, but he'd rather investigate that on his own rather than question them in the open. His brows furrowed when the girl known as Kizzy stopped beside his bed, passing out flowers to the three of them and introduced herself.

Tobias nodded his head, not really knowing what else to do. After she was gone, his gaze fell to the flower in his hand. He sat up in his bed, reaching out the flower toward Wynne. He carefully slid it behind her ear, the side of his mouth tugged upward in a slight smile. Tobias had no need for a flower. What would he do with it anyway? Wynne had wings, a flower suited her and he wasn't in the mood to be totally rude toward the new girl by throwing it away. He sighed, laying back in the bed looking between the two women that were his company. "I'll be alright. You both can go help with the search effort, if you want," he commented toward the two of them. "Or check on others," he added, this time in particular to Petra.

He'd have to be blind to not notices something going on between Petra and Ross. Whatever the man did it had her seeming... off. Even though Tobias' would was potentially fatal, he didn't look nearly as bad as Ross. He'd heal, so if she needed to talk to someone else, she didn't need to stay around his bedside. It was new territory having people worried about his own well being for a change. He didn't quite know how to handle it.

Whatever had happened, whatever was happening at the Academy was enough to send an alert out to the Arrowcave. Gwen couldn't even imagine what would have had to happen for an alert to be sent out. She'd always thought the Academy was inpenetrable, but apparently someone managed to penetrate it and on the night of the Gala to. Thankfully, her father had snatched a Javelin-7 from the Watchtower and used it for long distance missions or if he ever had to visit the Watchtower, so she stole it and instructed the autopilot to take her to the Academy.

On a commercial airline or in her father's private jet, it may have taken her five to six hours to get back to Connecticut, but in the Javelin-7 she made it there in just two hours. On her approach, she could see the large hole in the side of the building. "Get to a height I can drop from and return to the Arrowcave." She instructed the autopilot, whilst cringing at the word Arrowcave, her father wasn't very original or creative and it just sounded wrong anyway.

After exiting the aircraft, Gwen ran for the main entrance of the Academy, she spotted several people in gowns in several different states of shock or being attended to by the Academy's medical staff. She spotted two guards near the entrance and dashed up to them.
"What happened?" She barked at them, out of worry instead of anger.
"There was an attack during the Gala, Hydra assaulted the event and took a few of the students." The guard's debrief was brief and blunt, and Gwen just stood with her eyes wide and her mouth slightly agape, she blinked as her eyes slowly looked everywhere bar at the guard, her mind was racing with who could have been taken. A short time passed before the guard brought her attention back to the moment. "Ma'am?"
Gwen just blinked up at him before shaking herself out of her daze and rushing to the ballroom, hopefully, there were still people there.

Upon entering the ballroom, she could see the true extent of the damage, a hole in the wall, debris and blood everywhere, a few limbs remained near a sizeable amount of debris. Gwen swallowed hard in an attempt to keep herself from wretching, it was then someone noticed her standing by the door. "Ma'am, you're not allowed in here."
"Trust me, I'm leaving. Is everyone in the Infirmary?"
"Everyone that's left, ma'am." Gwen didn't even have a response to that, the staff must have been pretty shaken up if that was how they were responding.

Gwen ran directly to the infirmary, opting for the stairs instead of the lift, she couldn't stand still worrying about her friends like this. She arrived just in time for Mycroft to list of those who were taken,
"Wren Wilson, Alec Constantine, Petra Max—" Gwen narrowed her eyes at him, she could see the redhead from where she stood. "Lilith Isley, Ulrich Zod, Caitria Allen, Francis Parker and Cassius Thompson were all taken hostage last night like it was nothing. If you all would have fought as a team like we've been trying to tell you for years now... None of this would have happened. Hydra would have been stopped before they laid a hand on anyone." Gwen clenched her fist, her friends were kidnapped after failings by his security team and he had the audacity to blame the students, she could feel herself getting angry, and she'd happily let herself scream in his ear if it didn't risk everyone else. Luckily, Phil interjected before Mycroft could say any more.
"Mycroft, they were unarmed and unprepared. They fought admirably, all things considered." As Phil interrupted Mycroft, Gwen looked around for her remaining friends.

Ross was with Jensen and two people she'd never seen before, whilst Andrew was with Riley. She spotted Ross getting up and announcing he needed a drink. She weaved her way through the infirmary to him. "With wounds like them, Rossy, you might not want to thin your old blood." She teased him, before nodding to Jensen and looking at the pair with them. "Hey, Jensen, and you two?" She pointed at the two in sort of drumming motion, a bit like finger guns but without the thumb extended. "Are you guys okay?" She asked, her tone more serious than most were used to her being.

Wren was taken because she provoked the guards, not without a final wink to her comrades before her neck was snapped and she was pulled out of the room by her hair. Even Ulrich was rendered speechless by the events. Though there was a particular protectiveness to it circling around the mysterious new guy. If they hadn't threatened to take him, would she torment them so much or wish the victim of torture luck. Ulrich glanced to his shoes in thought. He might have done the same for a selective person or two.

His gaze lifted when Caitra was the first to speak, offering that one of the guards had a temper and that is was good news. Emotional manipulation was a handy tool even if it was fueling anger and adrenaline in the enemy. Could cloud their judgement. Then again Wren had that effect on people.

Lilith grew frustrated, Frankie grew hopeless. Ulrich wasn't an idiot, the situation wasn't at all ideal and it looked like their fate were in hydras hands but they needed their heads up. Maybe not literally but if there was even a remote chance of escape... "So what's the plan when they come back for another one of us? Make them angry? Distract them?"
Ulrich's head rested back on the wall staring at Caitra waiting for some plan to blurt from her mouth. Then his eyes shifted to Lilith. "Why don't you lure them towards you? Humans are stupidly susceptible to pheromones. The rest of us can figure out how to get the keys. Since Constantine is fresh out of magic tricks,"
he added pointedly, though the same could be said about him.

Where was his strength and powers to bust them out? Once he was out of his restraints the soldiers would be welcomed to a world of pain. This is what prisoners must have thought about Zod and himself. "At least they want us alive. For now."

ImageFar from her usual observant self, Petra hardly noticed what she'd interrupted. She spared Wynne a glance, noting her injuries. So their mole hadn't stood by while the rest were attacked.

"Ross's mirror dimension," she turned back to Tobias, letting the tone of bitterness in her thoughts bleed through into her speech. "I only wish I could have done more... At the very least, I could have sucked the gas out of the room and given everyone a better fighting chance. But Ross saw them targeting me and - well, he just acted, I suppose."

She shifted in her chair, turning more towards the other boy. "But, what you did for Thaddeus Ross... your mom would be proud of you. I know that."

Anything else she was going to say was cut off by the arrival of a couple of people, one skipping around, the other seeming to understand a little better the decorum expected of one in an infirmary.

"Hi, I'm Kizzy!"

Petra accepted the flower thrust at her without complaint, although her expression made it clear she was distinctly unimpressed. "Thanks." In her hands, lined and roughened by her violent childhood, the flower seemed pathetic and out of place. Uncertain what to do with it, she let her hands fall into her lap again, shielding the flower from view, turning to follow the newcomers with her eyes as Tobias did... whatever he was doing with Wynne. Petra had not known him to be particularly fond of being openly kind, but maybe this was a start.

"I'll be alright. You both can go help with the search effort, if you want. Or check on others." Tobias's voice called her attention back, and Petra tore her eyes away from the two white-blonde heads to meet his gaze again.

"I'm not exactly Miss Congeniality here," she pointed out. "But I'll let you heal in peace. Rest up." So saying, she reached out to touch his shoulder gently. "You too," she directed at Wynne. "I hope you're both feeling better soon." Pushing her chair back, she rose, leaving the infirmary. No one stopped her to ask where she was headed, so instead of seeking out further company, she headed for the lift, intending to go back to her flat and collapse into bed. Maybe take a hot shower. Everything was suddenly so exhausting.

ImageIt took some amount of effort to squash down all the emotions threatening to spill over - this wasn't like having an anxiety attack, not when it was someone else's life at stake - but Andrew's comforting presence helped. Riley focused on his light touch, warmth radiating through the thin fabric of his shirt, and after a minute felt more confident in his emotional stability.

"I mean, considering all that's happened, I can't possible say that I feel great. But for the situation, I'm doing pretty well." Riley could hear the bitter undertone in Andrew's voice. He smiled, a sardonic twist marring it. "For the situation," he repeated to himself. And what a situation it was. Training had always been about what if you're on enemy territory, what if you have to protect someone. It had never asked what if the enemy was on home territory and they had failed to protect those dear to them.

"So, uh, who else was taken?"

The names came like clockwork to Riley. Every name a reminder of how they'd failed in their duty, not just to protect the people but to protect themselves. "Wren, Caitria, Lilith, Ulrich, Constantine, and... some guy named Cassius?" He shrugged. "With the number of students joining us, I can't really say I'm surprised to hear an unfamiliar name." He glanced over his shoulder at the two currently making their rounds around the room. "I don't suppose you know who they are...?"

The pair reached them soon enough, and the girl held out flowers to both of them. "Welcome to the Academy," Riley greeted them. As soon as they moved on he placed his flower on Andrew's bedside stand. "For you. Could spruce up your place."

As he set it down he glanced over at Andrew, noting with a pang of guilt how tired the other man looked. He'd just regained consciousness, and instead of letting him rest Riley was jabbering away about his own concerns - so incredibly selfish, as usual, Barton.

He stood abruptly, eager to prevent any further mistakes of the same sort. "I'm, uh. I'm sorry, I'm going to let you rest now. You probably really need it," he blurted. Reaching over to pat Andrew's shoulder, he turned away, heading back for his own bed, where he could pick up his things and go back to his penthouse where he could freak out in private.

ImageMaximoff's less-than-cursory glance didn't escape Wynne. Funny, how she could see so many of her own qualities in the other girl, yet neither trusted the other, instead choosing to remain wary and assume the worst until proven otherwise. She could be good, if she ever chose to work with me instead of against me, Wynne mused.

Instead of eavesdropping on their conversation, Wynne shifted her attention to the brother and sister. Kezia and Roman Black... she had little information on them. Some, but not enough. Switching her phone on, she typed a quick update email to the U.N., adding a little note at the end requesting for the twins' files. That was the best she could manage for now.

When she looked up, the girl was standing in front of Tobias's chair, beaming at her. Returning the smile (which didn't reach her eyes), Wynne took the flower, twirling it idly in her hands. "Nice to meet you," she murmured as they passed by. Pointless, but a nice gesture all the same, she supposed.

Movement towards her face. She looked up quickly, just as Tobias slid the flower behind her ear. Surprised, she raised a hand, brushing the petals with her fingertips. "Thank you." Another thing to thank him about. She did not expect to find him this willingly heroic, or so gentle - Tobias Lehnsherr was turning out to be a very unexpected character.

"I'll be alright. You both can go help with the search effort, if you want." He lay back, looking between her and Petra. Well, there was no need for Wynne to offer. If not her father, then some other higher-ranking official would have already made clear the U.N.'s stance on the Academy accessing their resources. It wasn't her place to decide. She nodded at Petra as she left, mildly surprised at her comment.

"I'll let you recuperate," she told Tobias. "But before I do... I just wanted to thank you for what you did earlier. I know that you're likely cautious of me and my motives here, and I cannot blame you for it. But I hope we can start again, as classmates instead of people caught on opposite sides of a war, which was never my view. And after today... I owe you my life. I think that's enough reason for me to doubt your reputation, even just a little. I'll see you around." Having said what she wanted to say, she got to her feet, shaking her wings out behind her briefly to unruffle them. She left the infirmary, taking the stairs up as far as they would let her, all the way to the roof.

ImageJensen could read the tension in Ross's body the moment she mentioned Maximoff. With this proximity, how could she not? "She's not me girl -" He cut himself off with a sigh. Jensen had to restrain herself from chuckling. It was rare her readings of relationships were wrong, and this was just another little mark in her list of successes.

"She's fine." Jensen waited. Sometimes the best way to get more from people was to stay silent. Although she had to feel a little bad for him - he was a genuinely nice person, and Jensen wasn't yet entirely certain Maximoff was a girl worth hurting over. "She's mad at meh."

Jensen sighed sympathetically. "That's gotta be hard." Ross didn't respond, however, preoccupied with looking around the infirmary at something. Jensen remained lying down, staring at the ceiling, her hands folded over her stomach.

"Hi, I'm Kizzy! This is for you!"

Jensen raised her head off the pillow a little, looking at the bug-eyed blonde standing by her bed. Ross's expression said exactly what she was thinking, albeit with a little less cursing. "Eh what?"

God, there was no end to the freaks entering this place. She recognised the irony in calling some among their number freaks, but honestly. Some of these people had never grown up around normal folk. The best greeting she could manage was a half-grimace, half-smile, nodding as the boy spoke. "Right. Uh, glad to see you're having fun here." She could hardly keep the disdain out of her voice.

"Wanna go get drunk? Aye need me a fuckin' drink." Jensen let her head drop back onto the pillow, groaning. "And here I thought you were going to sit here blabbering all day, McCulloch. That's the stupidest question you've ever asked me, and I'm pretty sure you say a lot of dumb stuff." She pushed herself upright, ignoring the way her bones creaked. "Absolutely."

Before she could get out of bed, though, another blonde, this one familiar, stepped towards them. "Hey, Jensen, and you two?" Jensen's eyebrows shot up. "Are you guys okay?"

"All sorts of surprises today, but I think I'll survive," she responded. "Didn't expect to see you back here today, Gwen."

Frankie stopped trying to break her binds, slumping back against the wall. Every time she heard a distant noise part of her hoped it was Nathaniel and the other Descendants storming the Hydra base. But, she knew better. She shouldn't let her hopes get up with every bump and noise. In the end, she figured that if they get out, it'll be by their own doing. Frankie had no idea where they were, and it was unlikely that the others knew either.

"So what's the plan when they come back for another one of us? Make them angry? Distract them?" Frankie lifted her head from the wall, looking over to Ulrich as he spoke. "Why don't you lure them towards you? Humans are stupidly susceptible to pheromones. The rest of us can figure out how to get the keys. Since Constantine is fresh out of magic tricks." Her gaze drifted over toward Alec who seemed to be a mess in the current situation. "At least they want us alive. For now."

Frankie sat there thinking about what he said, furrowing her brows as she tried to think of a plan. She then blew out her lips, looking over toward Ulrich. "Even if Lilith lured them toward her... How would we be able to do anything?" She nodded her head up toward her hands, shaking them abruptly in her binds as a reminder.

She parted her lips to speak again, but something else took the words from her. In the distance, somewhere off in the Hydra base, Frankie heard a blood curdling scream. It wasn't like the screams you hear in horror films... It was so authentic it caused her spidey sense to spike, the hairs on her arms and the back of her neck standing on end. Her gaze fell as she held her breath while the wail echoed throughout the building. It sounded like pain... unbearable, continuous pain...

Frankie had never heard Wren scream. She was always one of the bravest people able to look death and pain in the eye and laugh. But that scream made a pit grow in her stomach. It didn't look good for them.

"And here I thought you were going to sit here blabbering all day, McCulloch. That's the stupidest question you've ever asked me, and I'm pretty sure you say a lot of dumb stuff," Jensen said as she sat up. "Absolutely."

Ross scoffed, sitting up much slower than her as the soreness was really starting to sink in. "Aye, no need to be an arse about it." He hung his legs over the edge of the hospital bed, gripping the sheets in his hands. He took a deep breath in through his nose and out the mouth. Sometimes he really hated the accelerated healing and shit the others had, while he was forced to feel everything in the most excruciating and slow way... ever.

Before he got up, a familiar face he wasn't expecting appeared before himself and Jensen. "With wounds like them, Rossy, you might not want to thin your old blood."

Ross snorted while rolling his eyes. "Just you watch meh."

"Hey, Jensen, and you two? Are you guys okay?"

"All sorts of surprises today, but I think I'll survive. Didn't expect to see you back here today, Gwen," Jensen said, replying to Gwen's question.

"We're better den others..." Ross' voice trailed off as he looked around the medical wing. Some of the others in there had worse wounds than himself, like Tobias. But it looked like Ross got the ugliest award hands down since half of the damage he took was to his mug. But, he wasn't talking about those in the room... But, the unknown fate of those that were kidnapped and taken by Hydra.

Ross couldn't handle that depressing room anymore. He pushed off the bed, dropping down to his feet. When he first stood up, he wobbled slightly, reaching out and grabbing Jensen for support. He caught sight of a nurse tempted to walk over toward him. But, Ross help up his index finger in a silent threat that she better not bother him. He sighed. "Let's get da fuck outta 'ere. I wanna drink 'til I'm pretteh again."

Once he regained his balance, Ross made his way toward the exit. But, of course, before he was in the clear one last nurse had to try and stop him. He groaned, rolling his eyes. "Mr. McCulloch, you really need to stay on bed rest and refrain from intoxication. Your body cannot handle that strain like—" When they realized they struck a nerve by comparing him to some of the others in the academy, the nurse quickly drew silent.

"Aye'll take meh chances," he groaned pushing past her and headed out of the medical wing. When Ross turned the corner and saw Petra standing there waiting for the elevator he froze. He sighed as his gaze fell to the ground. Not wanting to deal with an awkward lift ride, he turned and threw open the door to the stairs. It was twenty seven floors to his room... Fuck. He took a deep breath looking up the numerous flights of stairs. With a final sigh, he grasped the railing and slowly started his ascension.

"Ross's mirror dimension," Petra answered his question with a very evident bitterness. Tobias' gaze shifted over toward the Scot on the other side of the medical wing as she continued talking. "I only wish I could have done more... At the very least, I could have sucked the gas out of the room and given everyone a better fighting chance. But Ross saw them targeting me and - well, he just acted, I suppose."

Tobias parted his lips to speak but she quickly changed the topic before he could. "But, what you did for Thaddeus Ross... your mom would be proud of you. I know that."

He shifted where he sat slightly. Tobias was used to getting noticed for... anything he did. Even if it was Petra, but worse when it was Coulson. He gave a slight smile to Petra at her comment about his but it quickly faded. God, he hoped she was ok. He completely forgot about her with everything that was going on. He didn't kill Thaddeus, that he knew. Magneto wasn't going to be happy... And if he knew any better, his father was probably hunting Raven down as he sat there in bed. Tobias wished he could get out of bed, find her first and take her into hiding. But, he was useless right now.

When Tobias gave his flower from the overly excited newcomer to Wynne, she raised a hand to brush the petals with her fingertips. "Thank you," She said softly. He nodded his head with a very slight smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

The new twins soon disappeared amongst the other descendants leaving him alone with the two women again. "I'm not exactly Miss Congeniality here," Petra replied to his comment. "But I'll let you heal in peace. Rest up." When she reached out and touched his shoulder, Tobias smiled up at her and nodded his head. "You too. I hope you're both feeling better soon." His gaze drifted from Petra over to Wynne as she addressed the blonde.

"I'll let you recuperate," Wynne spoke up once Petra left. Tobias looked toward her. He liked having the company. He wasn't expecting anyone to be at his bedside. It was a nice change. But, he'd hate to be rude and pass out from the heavy drugs mid conversation or something like that. As much as he didn't want to admit it, rest was most definitely in order. I'll see you around."

"I don't blame you... For judging me because of my father," Tobias replied. He wasn't spiteful or mean in his words, but understanding. She had no reason to think he was any different than Magneto. But, he still said it... To ease her conscience. "And you're welcome," he said after her as she started to head out of the infirmary. "You don't owe me anything." Tobias raised his fingers slightly from his abdomen in a weak wave good bye before she left.

The Hydra soldiers pealed Wren's weak and battered body from the bed they had her strapped down on. When she stand her knees gave way and she collapsed under her weight. What has they drugged me with? She wasn't used to drugs having an effect on her. It was like someones first time drunk or on acid. She found herself blinking to try and clear her vision. One of the guards groaned in frustration as he leaned down toward her. In a swift movement, he hoisted her over his shoulder, holding her legs to his chest while her head and arms dangled over his back.

She wanted to fight back, kick him in the balls, smash her elbow into his temple and royally devastate everyone in that room but her body didn't listen to what her mind willed. Instead, Wren weakly kicked her legs and arms. God, did it take a lot of her energy just doing that. Whatever was in the drug they gave her was strong and effective. But, even with that she could still feel its effects wearing off as he carried her back to the cell.

Frankie somehow managed to doze off, even with her hands held in the cuffs at an awkward position. Her head was draped over to the right leaning against her shoulder. But, approaching steps echoed throughout the corridor she was startled awake, blinking the sleeping from her eyes. She raised her head, looking toward the entrance of the cell as the steps grew closer. Was one of them next? Wren had stopped screaming hours ago, was she dead and now they come for another? She held her breath as she waited for them to come into view. And when he did he carried something like a sack over his shoulder.

It was Wren.

Frankie let out a gasp in surprise as the practically lifeless Wren was carried into the cell. The man dropped her on the ground without much care and slapped her hands back into her binds. But instead of taking another one of them, the guards said nothing. They made sure Wren was secured then left them in the cell, disappearing back from where they came.

Wren slumped against the wall. The only thing holding her upright was the cuffs that held her hands against the wall. If it wasn't for those she would have tipped over onto the ground. She could feel the cloudiness slowly lift from her vision while it seemed at the same pace her body began to react and listen to her once again. Everything was still slow but it was coming back to her. After a long moment, she raised her head as best she could, letting it rest back against the wall. She looked around at everyone in the cell and gave the best smile she could manage at the time. "Oh good, you guys are ok," her voice croaked.

Frankie sat there in a shocked silence for awhile, just taking in Wren's appearance. The girl looked like death. Like she had been pushed to the brink of death multiple times but not allowed to die. Sure, Wren would heal but she had never seen Wren in this bad of shape. Dried blood cover a lot of her skin, her gown from the dance was all but destroyed, just enough there to cover what should be covered. The sleeves were gone, a large whole was tore where her abdomen was and the skirt was tattered, torn and ripped. Wren had a fat lip. There was a dried trail of blood that ran from her nose over her lips. Her right eye was as purple as a grape and nearly swollen shut. But somehow with all that she managed to smile... With a few missing teeth.

"Jesus, Wren. What happened to you?"

"... You don't want to know." Wren glanced over at her left wrist, where she vaguely remembers them cutting off her hand at some point during the super fun torture session. Whatever they gave her slowed her healing. Her hand wasn't quite to regular size just yet. She knew her strength wasn't fully back yet. She was slow and lethargic, but maybe... Maybe she could pull her hand through the cuff. Or, maybe with it still healing it'd be easy enough to break the bones and slip her hand through.

Wren took a deep breath then tried to adjust her body to the most comfortable position possible. She then brought her thumb and pinky as close together as possible. She started wiggling, squirming and pulling her hand downward. After a couple minutes of trying, it didn't seem it was going to work. So, instead she bent her finger backwards placing the tip on the wall. Wren took a deep breath preparing herself before shoving her hand backwards, snapping the bones in the first finger. She then moved on to do the same to the second.

"Wren! Stop! What are you doing?" Frankie had no idea what the woman was thinking, but she's been through enough already that day. Why was she breaking her hand?!

"Shut up, blondie!" Wren tried to snap at Frankie but she didn't have enough strength to sound very assertive, but sounded more irritated if anything. "I'm trying to figure out a way out of here... Unless you have any bright ideas?"

It took sometime, but Ross finally found a bar. Honestly, he had no idea where in the tower he was. After about three flights of stairs, he gave up with that option and decided to search whatever floor he was on. And surprise surprise, there was a bar there. There was so much in that damn tower that it was easy to forget how much he hadn't seen. Ross had never taken the time to figure out where everything was, but apparently he should have. All he knew was where the penthouses were, training rooms, the garage, the entrance and the cafeteria. He never really found the need to discover what else was here until now.

But, whatever motivation he had to find out what lied within the walls of the academy was quickly washed away by the burn of vodka down his throat. Ross didn't talk much while he drank. He didn't have much to say that would be remotely similar to his usual self, and he was sure that Jensen or Gwen wasn't in the mood to listen to him bitch and groan about Petra. They might have been talking at some point, maybe to him... But he had no clue. Ross was never a lightweight but the combination of exhaustion, alcohol and some serious drugs, he was feeling the liquor after two shots.

He made the decision then, that it was probably in his best interest to go rest as the nagging nurses wished. But, he was too stubborn to do it in the infirmary. Ross stumbled his way out of the bar and managed to find the elevator after several wrong turns, twice of witch took him back to the bar. Once on the lift, he sighed, leaning back against the wall. Then slowly, very slowly, he started to slide down the wall until his was sitting on the ground in the corner of the elevator. He made an attempt to reach his hand up to press a button, but was no where close to reaching it. "Shite."

Ross tired to move to his feet, and got half up before gravity decided that wasn't in the cards, causing him to stumble back down to the ground. He glared up at the elevator buttons and toward the closed doors, and blew air out between his lips. "Fuck it."

After sleeping some more and being more compliant that others in the infirmary, Tobias was able to convince the nurses to let him out of bed. Of course, with a wound like his, strenuous active wasn't the best action, so he still needed to be in a wheelchair. But he wasn't in any rush to do crazy physical exertion so he was happy thankful for the wheelchair. He slowly and carefully wheeled him self out of the infirmary and down the hallway. When he reached the elevator, he leaned forward pressing the button. Shortly after, the doors open and revealed something he wasn't expecting.

Ross McCulloch laying slouched in the corner on the ground. The Scot's expression perked up slightly as he waved his hand in the air weakly. "Aye, mate!"

Tobias didn't move. He just sat there, staring at Ross with furrow brows until the elevator doors went to close. He quickly stuck out his hand to stop them, then rolled into the elevator being sure not to hit Ross' foot. "Are you... Ok?" he finally asked, trying to decide if he was wounded or intoxicated.

"I... 'm great," Ross said with a smile, waving his index finger toward Tobias. "How 'er you? How's yer sister—niece?" His voice trailed off taking a sad and serious tone.

Tobias gave a sympathetic smile, gazing down at his lap. Between everything that happened, he wasn't surprised that Ross wanted to drown it all away temporarily. Petra was put off by what the Scot did to save her life, but he did save her life. Tobias parted his lips preparing to say something but Ross cut him off by calling out in slurred words. "What floor 'er ya goin' ta?" Ross stretched his hand up toward the buttons but still was unable to reach them.

"I got it," Tobias chuckled slightly and pressed the button for the roof. As the elevator ascended, he took the moment to have a one on one with Ross... Even if he might not remember it once he sobers up. "Hey, Ross?"

"Aye?" Ross rolled his head against the wall, turning his gaze to Tobias with a cheeky grin.

"I want to thank you for what you did for Petra. She might seem mad now, but she's thankful too. If it weren't for you, she'd be taken same as the others. I am thankful, she's very important to me... And I know you care about her too. I owe you."

Ross' expression seemed to sink while the alcohol only seemed to make its way to his more somber emotions. "Aye would do et 'thousand times oer... If she likes et or not."

The elevator came to a stop, opening to the roof. Tobias rolled out and turned to face Ross. "I know you would. That means a lot."

The doors started to close and Ross raised his hand, saluting to Tobias before the doors separated them. He rolled himself across the roof, finding a table with an umbrella. He parked his wheelchair under the shade and pulled out his cellphone. No messages from his mother, but that's not why he got it out. His thumb scrolled through the contacts until he found Petra's name.

Compose Message to : Petra Maximoff

"There's a drunk Scot in an elevator. Maybe you were too hard on him? He just wanted you safe.

Gwen smiled at Ross' snort, "Just you watch meh." She blinked slowly and shook her head with a slight chuckle.

"All sorts of surprises today, but I think I'll survive." Gwen nodded, she was glad to hear it. "Didn't expect to see you back here today, Gwen."

"I'm glad you're surviving, I didn't exactly expect to be back today either." She looked around the medical wing, in her anger she'd missed Mycroft saying Ulrich's name, so she assumed he was somewhere else in the building.

"We're better den others..." Ross' voice pulled her back into the conversation.

"You might want to tell your face that, Panda eyes." She teased him, she knew it wouldn't do well to dwell on everyone's suffering so she turned to jokes and a bit of teasing.

"Let's get da fuck outta 'ere. I wanna drink 'til I'm pretteh again." Gwen watched as Ross pushed himself off the bed with some difficulty, she would have helped if it didn't hurt his pride to be helped off the bed and from the way he was with the nurses, she knew better than to worry after him. Gwen followed behind him, towards the exit, only for the trio to be stopped by one of the nurses.

"Mr. McCulloch, you really need to stay on bed rest and refrain from intoxication. Your body cannot handle that strain like—" Even Gwen could feel the awkwardness and it wasn't directed at her, but Ross wasn't one to leave that air hanging around for too long.

"Aye'll take meh chances," He groaned as he pushed past her, Gwen mouthed we'll look after him as she passed the nurse who simply nodded before returning to one of the other injured. As Gwen left the room, she noticed Ross turning on his heels, in the opposite direction of the lifts and making for the stairwell, she took a glance at the elevators and could only see Petra, causing her to knot her eyebrows at his disliking, maybe something happened before the dance, she made a note to ask him about it when he was feeling better.

"Seriously?" She moaned as she climbed the stairs behind him.

Gwen simply followed after Ross, she wasn't as fussed about drinking as she imagined the other two were so she just let them two take the lead. As she followed them, she whipped out her phone and wrote a quick message to send to Ulrich:
XXX
To: Ulrich
[Are you in your room? I didn't see you in the hospital wing. xx]

As Gwen slid her phone back into her jacket pocket, Ross had finally found somewhere to drink, the three of them perched themselves on some stools by the chosen bar. She watched as Ross downed the vodka straight, her face visibly disgusted, until she realised she was being that girl who sat with a glass of white wine, waiting for her boyfriend to text her back, occasionally stealing glances at her phone to see if the notification light was flashing.

"So, not that I expect either of you to want to talk about it," She said, mostly to Jensen, she could see Ross' attention was fairly focused on the bottle in front of him. "But what happened?"

"So what's the plan when they come back for another one of us? Make them angry? Distract them?"

She opened her mouth to reply, nothing too friendly either, before she caught his gaze on Caitra. As far as escapology went, she supposed Caitra's brains were their best chance. Maybe she did have something more to offer...Until his eyes caught hers.

"Why don't you lure them towards you? Humans are stupidly susceptible to pheromones. The rest of us can figure out how to get the keys. Since Constantine is fresh out of magic tricks."

Her eyes turned into a warning glare. “If Alec could get us out of this rut, I’m sure he would.” Wow was that the first thing that she said. “Likewise, I'm not feeling too appealing right now.” The loose translation, she was feeling like shit.

"Even if Lilith lured them toward her... How would we be able to do anything?"

“Frank’s right, I lure them here, then what? You have no strength and I don’t think even your legs will get a kick in. We’re bound so not like we can steal the keys.”

Besides, in a dire moment it would be less than subtle if Lilith started to want to befriend the guards. And the soldiers were evidently well informed of their powers. But she liked his spunk. However, appreciation, optimism, was completely taken from her when she heard the most awful scream. It sent shivers down her spine and made her feel like she was being punched in the stomach. Lilith turned her head into her own shoulder and cringed.

Though her eyes grew heavy she couldn’t rest. Not a blink. The world around her dulled but never completely vanished. Right up to the point Wren reappeared. Or some form of Wren. The sight of her friend startled her awake. It was rude to stare, Lilith knew that, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from the beaten and bloodied Wren and no words came to her. Frankie and Wren exchanged some words but they drifted to the background as Lilith's gaze fell on the end of her green dress. She dared to wonder how long it had been, and how long it would still be before she met the sun again or death...

Suddenly there was a sickening crack sound. Lilith snapped her head in the red head's direction. Unfortunately she couldn't bring herself to argue with Wren about hurting herself further if it meant their escape. Inside, Lilith knew, even the daughter of Deadpool, Wade Wilson, had her limits.

“She’ll recover,” Lilith encouraged. Some guilt circled in her gut for saying that. But they could get her help and rest once they were out. And that was Lilith's priority.

The tension in the air grew thicker. Lilith was getting exasperated (although Caitria certainly shared her sentiments), and Ulrich was growing short-tempered. Caitria could feel her own impending headache, clenching her jaw to prevent herself from saying anything that might rub the others the wrong way. Now was not the time to get into arguments.

Caitria turned her head towards the entrance of the cell as she heard footsteps approaching from the distance. The guards were probably coming back for another one to torture after giving up on Wren and her regenerative abilities. To her surprise, Caitria caught a flash of red hair as Wren was dragged into the cell. The guard dropped her on the ground, cuffing her hands once again before leaving. The redhead scanned everyone in the cell before cracking her best smile. "Oh good, you guys are ok," she said in a rough voice.

Caitria couldn't quite say the same about Wren, and it seems as if Frankie agreed. "Jesus, Wren. What happened to you?"

"... You don't want to know." As Wren spoke, Caitria analyzed the redhead's hand, frowning at the unusually slow pace it was healing at.

What Wren chose to do next definitely wouldn't help said healing process. Caitria grimaced, eyes wide as Wren snapped the bones in her fingers, clearly trying to break out of the restraints.

"Wren! Stop! What are you doing?"

"Shut up, blondie! I'm trying to figure out a way out of here . . . unless you have any bright ideas?" There was a short pause before Lilith spoke up, directing her words to a distressed Frankie.

"She’ll recover," Lilith said, taking the logical route instead of the emotional one. Caitria frowned, not confident in whatever plan Wren was trying to put together. However, the handcuffs were indeed made out of vibranium, and although everything had its weaknesses, as far as Caitria knew, no one in the group had the capability to take advantage of vibranium's shortcomings.

"Your dad's Kilgrave, right?" Caitria commented offhandedly, directing her words to Thompson. "Which means you can control minds, if I'm not mistaken. That would certainly be helpful. And unless someone has the ability to break through vibranium, or if they have a secret stash of adamantium they carry with them at all times, then breaking our hands like Wren is doing in attempt to relieve ourselves of these restraints is, unfortunately, the best option we have."

"Wren, Caitria, Lilith, Ulrich, Constantine, and . . . some guy named Cassius?" Riley listed the names in an almost mechanical manner. Andrew frowned at the last name, not recognizing it.

"With the number of students joining us, I can't really say I'm surprised to hear an unfamiliar name," Riley said, as if reading Andrew's thoughts.

"Yeah," Andrew agreed. "Not a particularly good time for more people to flood in though." The brunette let out a soft, tired sigh as he scanned the people in the room, many of them in hospital beds like himself.

Andrew followed his friend's gaze as it travelled to two platinum-haired siblings. "I don't suppose you know who they are...?"

Andrew shook his head as the two approached. "Nope."

The two of them approached, the young man introducing himself as Roman Black and his sister as Kezia, or Kizzy for short. "Welcome to the Academy," Riley said, Andrew echoing the greeting as Kizzy handed both of them flowers. Andrew smiled at her, thanking her before she moved on to someone else with her brother in tow. As soon as they did so, Riley placed his flower on the stand besides Andrew's bed.

"For you. Could spruce up your place."

"Aw, that's sweet!"

Before Andrew could say anything else, Riley stood up and began speaking. "I'm, uh. I'm sorry, I'm going to let you rest now. You probably really need it," he blurted out. Andrew was going to insist on his friend staying, but Riley merely patted his shoulder and turned around to return to his own bed.

Ulrich scoffed slightly as his suggestion was thrown in the scrap pile. Logically it made absolute sense to throw it away since there wasn't much chance of success but he'd like to see them come up with something better rather than sit and look like damsels.
He knew a girl that would fight and struggle with every fiber in her being - even when it could be an annoying and troublesome quirk, he secretly admired it. God he'd be dead if Gwen knew how much he liked it. And she's the one he fell asleep thinking of, in a happier place for a while.

When someone entered the cell, Ulrich peaked an eye open. Wren looked like hell though even that was an understatement but at least she was in one piece. Zod and Ulrich used to break people almost as well. It must've been fun to torture someone with rejuvenating abilities. They could really experiment and go wild...

As these more insensitive thoughts played through Ulrich's mind, the girls conversed on what happened and what was happening.
Wait, what was happening? Ulrich had been cuffed by kryptonite for too long, it was hard to be attentive to his surroundings. "...breaking our hands like Wren is doing in attempt to relieve ourselves of these restraints is, unfortunately, the best option we have."

"Ladies first,"
Ulrich dared lazily, more so towards Caitra and even tried a smile. She was fine to suggest it, but he didn't see her twisting and bending her limb in odd ways.
He couldn't break anyone's hand in his condition. How was he, and the others expected to break their own? Ones with rejuvenation and strength still in their being, sure.

Once he was out of his restraints, it'd be open season. Once, his peers were all unbound as well. That was part of a rule apparently. Saving first then revenge. Or justice.

ImagePetra enjoyed some thirty minutes of solitude - proper, comfortable solitude, none of that sitting on a cold floor in a thin dress shit - letting the hot water run until the bathroom was filled with steam. With a warm mug of tea on her bedside stand and an old book in her arms, still unfinished from before the training exercise that now seemed a year ago, she settled on her bed, dressed in a warm sweater and jeans. She had no plans to emerge from her apartment before the next day dawned.

Or so she thought. After seven pages, her phone buzzed.

From: Tobias

There's a drunk Scot in an elevator. Maybe you were too hard on him? He just wanted you safe.

...

Just a thought.

Petra exhaled a long breath through her nose, lips pursed. She tried not to shake her head. As there wasn't really anyone around to judge her for physically expressing her frustration, she didn't mind so much that the attempt to suppress herself failed. Ross was a grown man, he could deal with himself. She typed a quick message back, then set her phone to silent and tossed it back on the stand.

To: Tobias

I'm not his chaperone.

But she couldn't get the image out of her head. Not for lack of trying, but the book couldn't hold her attention - not even with an explanation of old, fairly obscure chaos magic theory. Eventually she set the book aside with a sigh, pushing herself off the bed. Her tea would probably go cold. She might not finish the book until she was eighty. It hadn't even been three hours, and she was already breaking her vow of not leaving her apartment.

Gods damn Ross.

ImageAs per Riley's luck, upon returning to his bed, he suffered another attack of dizziness that had him sinking to his knees, gasping for breath, almost knocking his IV stand over as his hands scrabbled for purchase on the nearest surface. Having been helped up and back into bed by a couple of nurses, he forgot about heading back to his apartment, instead drifting in and out of wakefulness for a period of time. Every time he closed his eyes he had a fresh nightmare about his dad and friends, all of which he promptly forgot upon waking.

He awoke proper some time later, staring blankly at the ceiling of the infirmary. The drip had been finished and removed sometime while he was asleep, so he presumed he was free to go. With a groan, he pushed himself upright and looked around. Already some of the students had taken their leave, judging by the relative quiet of the infirmary and the empty, as-yet-unmade beds. Scrubbing a hand over his face, Riley gathered his things from the bedside stand, making sure his watch was tucked carefully away, and left.

His head was heavy. If a concussion was all it took to fix anxiety-induced insomnia, Riley would have run headfirst into a wall years ago.

The elevator doors slid open, and a pair of feet came into view. Riley glanced up, startled, to see Ross sitting in the elevator, his eyes closed.

"Oh boy." Riley hurried forward, bending down by his friend. "As if getting your entire face rearranged wasn't enough, Ross? What the hell?" He slipped an arm under his friend's shoulders, trying to heave Ross's dead weight upright and press the button for Ross's floor at the same time.. "Let's take you back, yeah?"

The elevator doors slid open, far earlier than Riley had expected. Petra stood there, her arms crossed, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else. "Give him here."

"What?"

Instead of repeating herself, she stepped into the elevator with them, pressing the button for Riley's floor, then adding her support to Ross's other side. "He's like this because of me. I'll take care of him. You should go back and rest."

Ross is my friend, Riley wanted to say, but he caught the dangerous glint in her eyes. Trust me, I'd rather be doing anything else right now, it said, and so he backed off. "Alright. Thanks."

They reached his floor, and he tried, as gently as possible, to slip out from under Ross's weight. "Feel better soon."

ImageShe was flying. The sun was warm on her skin, her stitches were screaming, and she was soaring.

Wynne couldn't help herself. She'd just popped into her assigned apartment briefly - bare, boring, and a really weird shade of beige - dumped her stuff, and then gone up to the roof. Warren Worthington could make all the threats he wanted, but the world knew she was a mutant, and here no one would try to rein her in like fucking Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.

She pretty much looked like him, though. On the ground - or even the roof - the temperature was mild, but up in the air, doing acrobatics like she'd never tried before, the speed and the wind chill brought a pretty flush to her cheeks. Her braid had pulled loose, and pretty much half her hair was now blowing by her face, but she didn't care. Despite her lack of experience, flying was incredibly freeing, and came to her easily.

After amusing herself by tailing a flock of birds (and scaring the hell out of them), Wynne tried a few midair loops, then turned and dove into a barrel roll, ending it with a headlong spiral down towards the roof of the Academy. Just before she slammed headfirst into the concrete, she pulled up, slowing abruptly, and did a final midair backflip, landing lightly on her bare feet. Blood beaded below her stitches and slid thickly through the feathers, not enough to cause alarm. Still, she shuddered. It felt weird - both the pulled stitches and her wings stretched out.

Movement caught her eye, and she whipped around, her wings folding up behind her on instinct. She hadn't expected anyone else to come up here, which was the main reason she'd let herself loose.

Tobias Lehnsherr. Even when she wasn't looking for him, he turned up anyway. Wynne tugged the rubber band out of her hair, trying to smooth her hair back into something vaguely presentable. Dear Lord, that she might be acting like a wild teenager again, and this time in front of people much more important than a handful of university students. It was embarrassing.

ImageJensen had to hurry to catch Ross. No way he was going to be steady on his feet, not after the beating he'd taken and the meds they'd probably pumped into him.

She was proved right when he wobbled and grabbed at her, letting him lean on her shoulder until he found his legs. "Whoa there, tiger. Take it easy."

"Let's get da fuck outta 'ere. I wanna drink 'til I'm pretteh again."

She laughed, despite herself. "You said it. Let's go." She crooked a finger at Gwen, a silent invitation. They weren't the closest, but she'd take whatever drinking buddies came her way.

The stairs weren't a problem for Jensen. She didn't say anything when they rounded the corner and familiar red tresses came into view, only continued supporting Ross up until they stumbled across the bar. In this mood, she wasn't eager to argue with anyone, least of all the one person who'd been kind enough to offer her a listening ear in the usual gang's absence.

She made good work on the bar almost immediately. At her request, the bartender kept the alcohol coming, seeing her through multiple whiskey shots until her vision was pleasantly blurry. Not enough to fuzz her thinking over, but enough that her pain had dulled considerably. She barely even noticed when Ross left, deciding at the last moment to let him leave. He needed the bed rest more than she did, although if he made it back to his apartment in one piece she'd be surprised. Didn't go after him, though, just remained where she was, smiling to herself.

After a little while she realised that Gwen had posed a question. Running back through her memory, she recalled it and finally turned to the other girl. "I dunno, like some giant clusterfuck. You seen the hole in the side of the building?" After downing another shot she sighed, trying to find the words.

"So there's this... gala, right, there's United Nations and bloody Thaddeus Ross, some winged gal joining us from the U.N. Temporarily. Whatever. If she's a spy, she's doing a shit job of it because she just went up on stage and announced it to the entire ballroom that she was joining as a student. Then these goons fuckin' blast a hole into the ballroom. Boom." She pushed air out from pursed lips, raising her hands to mimic an explosion. Probably almost hit Gwen in the face, but who cared. She downed another shot and continued.

"And they have these gas... things. They're grabbing students. Shot a claw right through Wren's chest like Moby Dick." Her voice faltered, grew sombre even through the alcohol. "Couldn't stop them, you know. They were prepared for us. I watched them pull Wren into a waiting helicopter. Then some bastard whacked me in the face - pow - and jabbed me with a needle. Next thing I know, I wake up feeling like shit." She laughed, a wet, choking sound, and rested her forehead on her hand, closing her eyes. "But when don't I feel like shit? I'm used to it. I'm worried about Wren. Pretty, tough, dangerous Wren... at least they can't kill her. Well, they could. But she'll be back. Hasta la vista, baby." She started cackling again, hardly able to control herself. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew she was very, very drunk. But it didn't really matter, not just then.

Frankie quickly shut her mouth when Wren snapped toward her. Part of her wanted to argue, but she simply sighed, leaning back against the concrete wall. The sound of Wren breaking the bones in her hand one by one turned her stomach. If there was something in there Frankie might have gotten sick but she couldn’t even recall the last time she ate or drank something.

“She’ll recover,” Lilith spoke up in regards to Wren’s actions. She didn’t seem like she believed the words coming out of her own mouth, but Frankie accepted them in silence. What else could they do? But part of her wished there was a different way… Because one thing Frankie knew was that if they were going to break out of here they’d need Wren at 110% and she was barely at 20%.

"Your dad's Kilgrave, right?” Caitria asked the new man in the group with the mouth guard. "Which means you can control minds, if I'm not mistaken. That would certainly be helpful. And unless someone has the ability to break through vibranium, or if they have a secret stash of adamantium they carry with them at all times, then breaking our hands like Wren is doing in attempt to relieve ourselves of these restraints is, unfortunately, the best option we have.”

"Ladies first," Ulrich added after Caitria was done. Frankie didn't like the sound of that. If her own hands were broken she'd be useless. Wren didn't look like she could carry the fighting herself, and they were no match without their hands. If they had a Wren at full capacity then Frankie would gladly stand back while the Wilson prowess took over. But there was no time for such luxuries.

”Oh, shut up,” Wren groaned as she yanked her broken and mangled hand from the restraint on the wall. She was surprised how much that little act took out of her. Wren let her broken hand rest in her lap. She could feel the effects of whatever drug they gave her wearing off slowly. Her body was healing, but not fast enough.

”If you all break your hands… We’re fucked. Just rest… while you can.” Wren didn’t have to say her meaning… Hopefully. Regardless, she wasn't going to. Whatever energy she had left, she was saving. She let her eyes close as she steadied her breathing, focusing most of her attention toward her hand. Of course, her abilities have always been subconscious but sometimes if she focused enough Wren could make it work a little faster. Honestly, she had no idea if it was working or not, but she still tried.

Frankie felt herself growing antsy. She sat there silent yet staring at Wren waiting for whatever the woman was going to do next. The red head just sat there and for all she knew she could have been asleep. Finally, Frankie spoke up unable to bear the silence, "...Now what?"

Wren sighed softly as she opened her eyes looking down at her hand in her lap. After a moment she slowly flexed her fingers continually until it no longer hurt or made unnatural noises. She then looked up toward Frankie, then parted her lips. "Hey! Asshole!" she shouted at the top of her lungs, jingling the shackles of her restraints against the wall as loud as she could manage. "MOTHER FUCKERS!! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU! HEY!" Her voice already started to grow horse as she took a deep breath between words. "Fucking pussies! HEY!"

Frankie's eyes widened like a deer in headlights when Wren began to scream and shout. Had she gone crazy!? What was she doing. "Wren!? Shut up!"

Wren ignored her and continued to shout profanities until a guard showed up at the door to their cell. "Would you shut up? Or was 6 hours not enough?"

"Blow it out your ass!" Wren yelled at the guard before she spat at him.

The guard didn't need anymore provocation. He pulled out his keys, unlocking the door and walked over toward her. Once he was close enough, his eyes widened when he noticed Wren's left hand holding the cuff but not in it. She smirked up toward him before raising her leg and slamming her foot into his knee full force. The joint snapped backward and the man fell to the ground. Wren tried to reach him with her free hand but he was too far. She shifted her body, hooking her foot under his jaw and jerked him closer. Her long legs quickly wrapped around his neck before he could call out. Her thighs constricted around his neck while her free hand grabbed his flailing arm, snapping it backwards so he couldn't fight.

Frankie watched in admiration and horror as Wren not only attracted a guard into the cell but knocked him down to her level. She made it look effortless, like she hadn't been tortured for hours. But the look on the red head's face was horrifying. It wasn't the look of desperation to survive, or break out, but revenge. She was angry and wanted blood. Frankie knew Wren, along with many of her other companions, had taken lives, but seeing it was completely different. "Wren... Stop! You're killing him!" She hissed just above a whisper.

Wren tightened her legs. "Exactly," she replied glaring up from the guard at the blonde. Her gaze was enough of a silent threat that the spider girl finally stopped trying to argue. There was no saving lives at this point. She wanted revenge and blood... And if Ms. Perfect alerted the guards then Wren would go through her as well if it meant getting out.

When the guard stopped fighting and his face turned blue, Wren let his head slip from her thighs. She grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him closer so that she could reach his keys. She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the physical exertion taking its toll but she pushed it back, refusing to succumb to the fatigue. It took a couple tries to unlock her other cuff, but once she did she couldn't help the smile that crossed her lips. Before Wren moved onto the others, she grabbed the strangled guard's head and gave it a quick jerk, snapping his neck. At this point, she'd rather be cautious.

It took a moment for Wren to get the energy to stand up and move over to Lilith. She unlocked her binds one at a time, then handed the blonde the keys. "Can you finish?" she asked as she allowed herself to slide back down to the ground, leaning against the wall.

Ross might have fallen asleep, or was he resting his eyes? It didn't matter. He heard the elevator doors open. He let his head roll against the wall as he slowly opened his eyes finding Riley standing before him. "Oh boy." Riley hurried to his side, bending down to meet him. "As if getting your entire face rearranged wasn't enough, Ross? What the hell?"

He chuckled, waving his friend off. "Did y'know alcohol and morphine don' mix?" Ross smiled at Riley as slid his arm under him pulling him up to his feet. Ross let himself lean against his friend, smiling up at him. "You, sir... Are a wonnerful mate. D'you know that?"

"Let's take you back, yeah?"

Ross pouted slightly, poking Riley's cheek. "Ooookay. Parteh pooper."

The doors opened again. Ross kicked out his leg preparing to start walking but realized Riley didn't move. He looked up finding none other than his Red standing before him. God did she look beautiful, even with her arms crossed over her chest. Why ya so angry, beautiful? He smiled weakly between the beauty and his friend.

"Give him here."

"What?"

Ross looked between the two lethargically. Petra entered the elevator, pressing a button, then took Ross' other side for support. He was content as a cucumber standing between the two of them. His smile stretched ear to ear so much that it squinted his eyes like a doped up puppy.

"He's like this because of me. I'll take care of him. You should go back and rest."

"Alright. Thanks," Riley said as he backed away. "Feel better soon."

Ross' brows furrowed, confused as to why Riley was leaving him. He reached out after him as he left. "Aye luv ya mate... Don' ferget it!" he called after him as the doors started to close and he was left with his arm draped over Petra's shoulders. After a moment, he looked over at her. His hand that rested on her shoulder raised as his fingers started to twirl a lock of her hair. "Yer so beautiful... Even when yer angry... Soooo angry." He smiled the best he could toward her as he let his hand fall from her shoulder, moving to support himself against the side of the elevator. He raised his hand to rub his nose and winced the second he did, forgetting it was broken. "Shite."

Tobia's phone buzzed shortly after he sent the text. He illuminated the screen to read over the message.

Message from : Petra Maximoff

"I'm not his chaperone."

He sighed, locking his phone and sliding it back into his pocket. It wasn't his place to tell her what she should or shouldn't do. He figured eventually she would understand why Ross did what he did. Or hopefully she would. Tobias would have done the same thing if he had the power. He set his phone down on the table and just as he did so, something caught his eye up in the sky above the tower.

Tobias rested his hands in his lap as he willed the metal in the wheelchairs wheels to roll him out from under the umbrella. He looked up into the sky, surprised to see none other than Wynne flying above. Regardless of her wounds or anything else she seemed light as air and free, he could see the blood stained her white feathers. He found himself smiling slightly at the sight, not of the blood but of her freedom. He was able to make himself levitate on the occasion and knew the weightless sensation of it.

Then everything in her flipped like a switch when she saw him. She quickly landed on the rooftop, and pulled the tie of her hair. He couldn't help but chuckle slightly as she was evidently embarrassed by him seeing her.

"... I can leave. Didn't mean to interrupt." He motioned his thumb over his shoulder as he commented about leaving. Tobias' gaze fell to her wing where she was bleeding, her stitches having being ripped out. "You should get that cleaned up before you're infected. I can do it if you don't want to go back to the hovering nurses." He gave a sympathetic smile.

After a moment, he tapped his fingers on the armrest of the chair. Tobias nodded his head toward her and willed the chair to turn and start back toward the elevator. He always loved the roof, but it looked like someone else needed it more than him.

Gwen watched with wide eyes as Jensen downed her alcohol, she didn't even wince once, Gwen's eyes watered at the thought of even sipping what she was drinking. Neither she nor Jensen reacted to Ross leaving, even though one of them probably should have made sure he got to his room at the very least, but Gwen needed to be caught up on what was happening. Unfortunately, a drink-to-forget Jensen was her only option right now.

"I dunno, like some giant clusterfuck. You seen the hole in the side of the building?" Jensen took another drink, giving Gwen some time to reply.
"It's hard to miss," Gwen put it bluntly. "Although the ballroom is something else."

Boom." Jensen expanded her hands outwards, as if mimicking the explosion she was making the sound effects for, her hand was about an inch away from hitting Gwen in the face. "And they have these gas... things. They're grabbing students. Shot a claw right through Wren's chest like Moby Dick." Gwen audibly gasped, the image in her head wasn't one she wanted to remember for very long, she grabbed her wine glass and downed whatever was left of it, as the bartender returned to top it up, she silently indicated for him to leave the bottle. "Couldn't stop them, you know. They were prepared for us. I watched them pull Wren into a waiting helicopter. Then some bastard whacked me in the face - pow - and jabbed me with a needle. Next thing I know, I wake up feeling like shit." The sound that came from Jensen's mouth wasn't a particularly pleasant one, but Gwen could recognise that it was a laugh. "But when don't I feel like shit? I'm used to it. I'm worried about Wren. Pretty, tough, dangerous Wren... at least they can't kill her. Well, they could. But she'll be back. Hasta la vista, baby." Gwen raised an eyebrow as Jensen started cackling at her own joke, she could appreciate wanting to laugh given the situation, anything to keep yourself from ruminating on it she guessed.

"Christ, any wonder an alert was sent out. Who else did they take?" Gwen then chewed her lower lip for a bit, she looked at her cackling, drunk bar buddy. She wasn't oblivious to the fact that Jensen was a little more than focused on Wren during her retelling, but she would eventually get to that point, even if she should keep her nose out of Jensen's business. She took a sip from her wine glass and picked up her phone to double check if she'd received any new notifications. There was none.

Harley was awoken by the noise of screaming, he'd grown accustomed to the screams he could hear at the facility, but these screams, they were different. These weren't the screams that came from cruel experiments on unwilling subjects, these screams got their origins from outright torture. He looked across the hall at the blond woman who'd been his silent neighbour for some time.

"I wonder how long it'll be until it's us making those noises." Harley leant against his glass cell, then his face went flush. "Not in like, a sexual way. Just that... What I mean is I wonder how long these people will keep us before they decide we're disposable." He stuck his face right up against the glass and angled himself to try and get a better view of the facility, he'd established long ago that it wasn't a hospital, but it definitely wasn't a prison either, from what he could gather. There was guards, sure, but their corridor was only patrolled every so often, not constantly guarded.

He looked back the girl and smiled, "I'm Harley, by the way. Harley Williams. Probably should have introduced myself sooner, since we've been sharing this corridor for some time."

Anastasia would've thought she had kept a pretty low profile ever since she travelled to America. No one know who she was, where she was, or what she was up to. She stayed quiet at a cheap hotel during her first couple days. It was no "chocolate on the pillow" hotel. The receptionist smelled of stale perfume and the tables had ashtrays instead of flowers. It was dingy, dark and cheap. Perfect. Anastasia kept her tinted sunglasses on and said nothing as the room key was dropped into the lines of her hand. She hid behind a cheap numbered door while the air conditioning delivered the virus more efficiently than room service. She travelled without noise over the dense carpet, littered with unvacuumed dirt and dark without illumination from the strip-lights above. Now they was just plastic casings on the crudely artexed ceiling, about as useful as a knife in a gunfight. The stairwell was just as deserted as the rest of the place. The third floor welcomes her with the hush of a graveyard but without the courtesy of the dead being six feet under. Already some watery light struggles through the window. She pulled her curtain closed.

The bed of cheap stripped pine with its rough canvas mattress was jammed into the corner of the long, drafty room. Without the large bed it would seem quite cavernous, perhaps with it's stone floor and corniced ceiling it might even seem quite grand to Anastasia, but like this it was reminiscent of the economy section of some clapped out train carriage. At opposite end of the bed the light shone dimly through the grimy mullioned window onto the grey bedding and the grey, dusty floor. Outside to the horizon one could only see where the grey sky blended into the grey of buildings. If there was a color to sum up life in the dormitory, grey would be it; an anthem for her life in a grey shabby tank-top eating grey food to the grey drone of silence.

That was until she had finally stepped out of her room one day, only to be welcomed by gunshots. She quickly grabbed the glock neatly strapped to her inner thigh and shot her rounds back at the two men yelling at each other in Russian. One of the men grew the courage to come tumbling towards her to pin her against the wall, but not before she had shot a bullet into his leg and gave him a nasty punch to the nose. He knocked the glock out of her hand, which she only returned the favour by tossing his gun to the side. The other man soon came barrelling towards her as well, tackling her by the waist just as she was distracted by the painful blows she was delivering to the other man who was already groaning in agony from the wound to his leg. Anastasia felt the air be knocked out of her lungs as her and the man went for a trip tumbling down the stairs.

Purple welts were formed and scattered across her abdomen like a disease. It hurt to breathe and she quickly wondered if some ribs were cracked. She quickly regained her thoughts and ability to move long before the man had did so and outstretched her leg from her seating position on the ground to jab him in the ribs with a kick. The man, about a foot taller than she, seized her leg and dragged her to him in a blink of an eye. Anastasia pulled out hair in handfuls, scratched, bit, kicked and head-butted, only to be handed a agonizing slap to her cheek that made her fall to the ground once again -- the side of her face stinging red with blood beginning a steady red stream down from her nose. She felt her hair suddenly be grabbed from behind her, causing her head to be violently jerked back as she stared down at yet another man who had been called by the others for assistance. Before she could react, she had a white cloth brought to her mouth and nose, cutting off her access to clean air as the head-spinning stench of chemicals filled her senses. She did the only thing she was capable of doing in that moment and jerked her limbs around violently, elbowing and kicking the men who surrounded her but to no justice, she soon felt darkness consume her vision.

---

There is something disturbing about this concrete box she was in. It had been engineered with absolute precision. The corners were sharp and straight.Someone designed this jail cell, they sat in a clean office under the glow of the natural sunrays and used their God given talents to create something so soulless as to constitute additional punishment. By the time a person is let out, if they are let out, they probably rarely recall their name and have lost most of their vocabulary. For the most part their sanity is shot, they swing between crying for the mothers and battling invisible demons. She could only imagine.

None of the guards talked to her, but she didn't need explaining. She knew exactly where she was and who brought her there. She heard screams from other cells and they paralyzed her, though she didn't react to them. Anastasia carelessly dragged her outstretched her feet from her seated position against the cool wall, the baggy t-shirt pierced with holes, stained with blood hung from her figure. Her skin had ruptured above the growing purple blooms. Every movement hurt. Bruises freckled along her arms and legs and her cheek was a nasty swollen crimson colour.

"I wonder how long it'll be until it's us making those noises." Anastasia raised her head, finally hearing the voice of the man she had been sharing the cell with the whole time. She searched his face, her eyes blank. "Not in like, a sexual way. Just that... What I mean is I wonder how long these people will keep us before they decide we're disposable." Her eyebrows only raised in question. He introduced himself, which Anastasia only stared at him blankly for a couple moments, deciding whether or not she should speak or just lower her head back down and remain silent, as if he had never spoken at all.

"Anastasia Petrovna." Her voice was hoarse, her Russian accent stringing through her words. "We'll mostly likely be able to recognize each other by our screams instead of our names in no time." She smirked slightly, the lighthearted joke rolling off her tongue like poison as she realized the situation they were both stuck in.

It hadn't been long since her return it seemed and Wren was begging for round two, carrying on and making offensive remarks towards the guards that could have very well invested in a soundproof cell. Lilith was actually on Frankie's side for once, wincing and shrugging her shoulder up to her ear and wishing she'd shut up for once. Why the hell call the guards back before they decided to take another one on their own.

The picture was drawn pretty quickly when the guard came in and Wren kicked him down. Frankie begged Wren to stop, but the look on Wren’s face said it all. Her mind was set. Lilith found herself staring at the man’s face until he gave up the fight and his life was taken and just for extra measure Wren snapped his neck. It snapped Lilith out of the trance at the same time.

Wren approached and Lilith cupped her wrists the moment she was unbound and held them close to her chest. Then Wren handed her the keys to free the rest as she slid down the wall to catch a breath. Or so Lilith hoped it was only a break and the red-head was okay. She nodded to Wren and did the rounds of unlocking the others without a comment to share until she reached Ulrich.

“Hey, listen, if anyone passes out or isn’t holding up well, get them out okay?”
Lilith looked him square in the eyes to assure she had his full attention then proceeded to unlock his restraints and slide them across the room. The girls were undoubtedly strong and resourceful but also stubborn and prideful and they had been detained for who knew how long. Lilith didn’t expect anybody’s peak performance. But General Darkness only needed a bit of solar power before he was near indestructible again. “Or take a bullet for them,” she mumbled and pulled a face. “Whatever gets us out in one piece. From here onwards,” she added grimacing lightly, remembering the state of Wren.

Lilith cautiously got to her fee, using Ulrich as a brace then the wall for support, steadying herself for a moment. Something in her told her she wasn’t going to get any better than this and she was done waiting. Anybody that objected to that could just be thankful she freed them rather than strut out the cell and lock them in again. “Let's go.”

She took a few steps and uncharacteristically hesitated before stepping out of the cell. She sooner expected bullets to fly than a free walk out this floor. Especially with the hold up of their hydra buddy.

"Ladies first," Ulrich said in a languid, yet challenging tone. Caitria scowled softly at his response; she was aware of how out there her suggestion was, but at least she was trying, even if she was grasping at straws.

"Oh, shut up," Wren let out a groan, tugging at her restrained and mangled hand before letting it rest in her lap. "If you all break your hands . . . we’re fucked. Just rest . . . while you can.”

The following silence was quickly broken by Frankie. ". . . Now what?"

There was a soft sigh escaping Wren's lips, before the open her mouth to scream at the top of her lungs. "Hey! Asshole! MOTHERFUCKERS!! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU! HEY! Fucking pussies! HEY!"

It seemed as if Frankie was equally as alarmed as Caitria was. "Wren!? Shut up!"

"What the fuck are you doing?" Caitria muttered, more to herself than Wren. Provoking the guards wasn't smart if Wren was currently as weak as Caitria thought she was.

Caitria watched, slightly alarmed, as the guard began to approach Wren. The redhead, contrary to what Caitria thought was going to happen, attacked the guard, beating him up to near death before snapping his neck to finish the job.

"Dear God," Caitria whispered under her breath. Compared to her father, or any other valiant superhero out there, she was a bit more morally flexible, and accepted killing with open arms if it was necessary. After all, killing and death was part of this life Caitria had chosen. However, what Wren was doing was perhaps a tad bit unnecessarily brutal. Nonetheless, Caitria couldn't blame her; Wren had been tortured and beaten - she was bound to feel at least a little bit vengeful.

Wren handed the keys to Lilith, freeing the blonde so she could help rid the others of their cuffs. Caitria extended her wrists, nodding in gratitude as her handcuffs fell to the ground, unlocked.

“Let's go,” Lilith called out. Caitria cautiously stepped out of the cell, peering around the building as if someone was suddenly going to jump out and attack them (that was certainly very likely, at the moment).

"So, what's our plan?" she asked the others quietly - she didn't want to yell like a madwoman in foreign territory. "If we even have one right now . . . "

Energy was being drained from his body while his blood was set on fire. It was a wonder he was still able to witness Wren cause another scene. His brows furrowed and much like his cellmates, wish she'd shut up, but didn't want to waste his energy hissing the words. It felt as if he couldn't afford to, his eyes could barely stay open. Wren got the guard by surprise and finished the job causing Ulrich to sigh out in relief. Mostly because there was peace at last.

Suddenly it seemed a figure appeared over him - he dozed off for a split second and Ulrich met Lilith's eyes, though admittedly with some effort. “Hey, listen, if anyone passes out or isn’t holding up well, get them out okay?” He nodded to show her understood and was rewarded with his restraints being thrown away. “Or take a bullet for them. Whatever gets us out in one piece. From here onwards,” she added consciously.

His darkened veins slowly faded from his neck, face, around his collar and chest, and wrists - though those were just the visible parts of his skin his somewhat dishevelled suit showed. But it looked like a good night in comparison to the fate of Wren's dress. Hell, suffering some kryptonite cuffs compared to the fate of Wren was better. Lilith used Ulrich as a brace while he was caught up studying the red-head, making him scoff halfheartedly then climb to his own feet.

“Let's go.”

He took off his jacket and held it out to Wren. If there was anybody to snarl and sneer at an offering of a jacket, it'd be her and her ego, but he still offered. And his arm was hers to take if she wanted a hand up as well. Meanwhile two of the blondes crept towards the cell door. Ulrich paid them a glance then switched his gaze to Frankie then back on Wren. He couldn't promise to get them out in time without a graze if trouble occurred nor take a bullet for them, but he'd try, so he wanted to keep them in vision.

"So, what's our plan? If we even have one right now . . . " Caitra asked quietly.

"You go scout the building, tell us the best escape route, how much fire power we should expect, and we skip into the sunset,"
Ulrich answered easily and headed towards the speedster. "At least that'd be a decent plan if anybody were expendable. But we probably shouldn't risk splitting up,"
he answered more sensibly and bumped her with his arm gently, even offering a small smile. An indication of a joke, or so he believed.

"My plan honestly is to avoid getting caught and killed." He crossed his arms and shrugged.

Ulrich pursed his lips glancing at the floor then down the hall. In truth, he couldn't help but feel disadvantaged by being unprepared. He didn't know what laid in wait around the corner and generally there was this looming sense of unreadiness. He rolled over an important question in his mind and eventually, chose to ask it. "Are you ready?" The question was directed to all of them but his eyes found Frankie, the most honest and kind-spirited one. The one with the most to lose if things got messy.

ImagePetra felt like calling after Riley's retreating back. Not really, he's your friend. Get back here and help me. At the very least, What am I supposed to do with a drunk person? But she kept her mouth shut, watched the lift doors slide closed.

"Yer so beautiful... Even when yer angry... Soooo angry."

There it was. The lack of inhibition she hated so much. Petra closed her eyes, exhaling a slow breath through her nose. "...Thanks. I think." But he wasn't done - a moment passed, then he started tugging at her hair. Frowning, she let him, then patted his fingers, trying to quiet him. "Alright, that's -" "Shite." "Hey. Don't do that. Come on." She turned to see him reaching for his face, and, reacting on instinct, she grabbed his hand to stop him from touching his face again, her hold lingering for a moment.

"Why are you always hurting yourself? First getting your face beat in, then drinking yourself stupid when you're in this state? Do you not think before you act? What did you say - even if it meant your life for mine? Do you really think you're worth that little?" She couldn't help the frustration colouring her tone, and as she spoke she shook his hand a little, still grasped firmly in hers. Her grip grew warm, magic rising to bubble beneath her skin with this display of emotion.

She paused, rethinking what she'd just said, and dropped his hand. "I'm not angry. At you." Her voice was lower, tired, the accent she'd picked up from her mother stronger when she wasn't suppressing it. "I just don't agree with what you think, about either of us." The lift doors slid open at Ross's floor, and she helped him out without another word.

Once Petra managed to wrangle Ross inside and - after taking a moment to goggle at the interior and mumble "why don't you have a proper couch like normal people" - find an empty seat to deposit him in, she went hunting for a kitchen. It was a fairly small room, almost hidden from sight, and it didn't take long digging before she found a mug, some hot chocolate, and a small carton of milk in the fridge.

No hot water kettle though. Unwilling to leave Ross unattended for much longer (worried as she was about spending too much time around him with no filter), she filled the mug and rolled it between her palms, channelling heat energy through her hands until the mug's contents were steaming, then went back out to Ross. "Take this. It's hot," she warned, bending down beside him. She guided his hands around the mug, her hands pressed over his to ensure he wouldn't drop it. Once she was satisfied, she let go and stood up, leaning against whatever game machine he was sitting at. "Are you going to throw up, should I get a bucket?"

Image"Aye luv ya mate... Don' ferget it!" Riley saluted Ross's passing shout over his shoulder. "Love you too, you mess of a human being."

He pushed open the door to his penthouse. "Hello, J.A.R.V.I.S.," he said automatically, without really thinking. The moment the words left his lips, he stopped dead, one foot in the threshold. Would he get a response? It seemed silly to get attached to the an AI, but if J.A.R.V.I.S. wasn't functional because of the attack... well, everything would be different.

"Hello, Mr. Barton." Riley sighed, relieved. Was it his imagination, or did the response sound tired? Low and drawn out - Riley felt like he was stepping into someone else's room. Stupid, since it was the room he'd spent so many of his nights arranging and rearranging, cleaning, trying to make his own. But it didn't seem the same anymore.

Stopping only to kick his shoes off, he collapsed onto the couch, staring at the ceiling. He didn't feel like sleeping, not when he felt this unsafe, but he was too exhausted to do anything else. Maybe he could spend the rest of the day like this, just thinking about nothing.

Image"...I can leave. Didn't mean to interrupt." Was it her imagination, or did he seem amused? Wynne, silent, remained where she stood, the concrete roof burning the soft soles of her feet. "You should get that cleaned up before you're infected. I can do it if you don't want to go back to the hovering nurses."

He turned to leave, and she found her tongue. "Stay," she blurted. When he turned back she cleared her throat, trying to look warm instead of coldly neutral. "Please, don't go on my account. There's enough space for both of us. And I... might need an extra pair of eyes." Tilting her head towards her wings to illustrate her point. "I mean - if you want to go, you know... I just meant you don't have to mind my presence..." She turned away, giving him the space to go if he wanted to. Maybe he really didn't want to be there with her, but was too polite to say so.

By the pool stood a lone showerhead, higher than Wynne would perhaps have liked, but good enough for her purpose. She moved to stand under it, her wings stretched out as far as she could, and cupped her hands to direct the water over the pulled stitches. The flow of blood thinned, red-tinged water splattering the floor until the worst of it had gone down the drain. After trying to shake some of the water off, she lowered herself into a chair, trying not to ruffle the feathers too much as she arranged them over the back so they would dry off in the sun. She'd deal with the stitches themselves later.

"Sorry you had to see that," she began, "I don't get much chance to stretch these and practice, and keeping them folded up all the time, uh... It gets tiring, you know? Like if your hands were constantly bound behind your back." Maybe it was the sense of freedom she'd gained from her short flight, but it suddenly seemed easier to talk to him, now that she knew he wasn't going to go. Or maybe it was because she'd thanked him and gotten that load off her chest. "This is a very peaceful spot. Do you come up here often?"

ImageJensen couldn't count how many shots she'd had. Did it matter? Not unless she was thinking about the resulting hangover, and that had never really been one of her concerns. She slammed another one back, and the bartender winced at Gwen as he refilled it, no doubt thinking of how she was probably going to be saddled with a very drunk Jensen very soon. "An alert? What, we've got Mycroft sending out newsletters to old students now?" She laughed loudly, obnoxiously, clearly amused by her own joke. "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're back. Glad you're back... Good to have you back. One just wishes it wasn't under these circumstances, y'know."

She turned her head, just in time to see Gwen check her phone. "Somewhere important you have to be?" A thought struck her. "Shit!" If an alert had been sent to Gwen, then her mother would definitely have gotten wind of what had happened. Jessica Jones was an alert mother, if not a very loving one.

Sure enough, when Jensen checked her phone, there were a handful of new messages and missed calls.

From: Mom
I heard about the gala. Call me back.

From: Mom
You're tough. I know you're ok. Call me back.

From: Mom
JJ. Please just let me know if you're fine. If anyone's reading this, please call me.

It was almost enough to make Jensen sober up immediately. She hit the dial button, and her mother picked up immediately. "It's me. Don't cry." Her voice was still slurred, and she laughed a little at Jessica's reply. "Didn't drink that much. 'm still in the Tower, I'll be fine. Could probably drink my weight right now. You know me." It continued that way for a while, back and forth until Jensen eventually hung up with a final loud "You love me!" and slammed the phone down on the bar.

She waved a hand at Gwen. "If you have to go, go. Don't let ol' Smashed Jen here keep you down."

HALDOR THORSONhex // DAA01A

Image
Haldor opened his eyes wearily as the drugs in his system were finally wearing off, leaving him somewhat disoriented and with a hell of a hangover whoever oversaw keeping him sedated would have a lot of explaining to do later. As his eyes adjusted to the dim room around him he took in his surroundings it was clear he was in a holding cell of some kind however clearly not meant for any comfort. His eyes scanned the four bare walls and and noticed scorch marks on the wall and the floor and on the ceiling, he quickly surmised he most have woken up before as the damage on the walls looked fairly recent. As his mind awakened further he began to understand his situation more clearly, he was bound, his hands firmly behind his back and his neck shackled to whatever was around his hands. His feet were also secured to the floor and like his neck they were shackled to the device on his hands as well. He grinned he must of scared them pretty badly to secure him this much. He relaxed and looked around the cell again there was little he could do in this situation much as he was loathe to admit, if he could at least get a hand free it would be a different story. He began to wonder how long he had been held in the cell, he felt like his beard had grown quite a bit and he was sure his hair was longer too but he could contend with the issue of lost time later. Now that he was awake and his mind clearing more by the moment Haldor decided it was time to get out of these restraints he braced himself and with a load yell he summoned his strength and pushed against the restraints on his hands as hard as he could willing them to break off his hands, not a subtle method by any means but at this point getting out of these restraints was paramount however he could not feel them giving at all. Defeated he relaxed for a moment and waiting before attempting it again.

"Well this should be a fun story to recount to father, so how did your first mission to Midgard go? Well let’s see I got ambushed then I was abducted and locked in a cell for who knows how long and placed in some of the strongest restraints I have ever encountered!"

he chuckled grimly "Yes, I think I will leave out some details" he pause for a moment upon hearing faint noise he knew the sounds of battle well whoever was out there was making a fair bit of noise, enough that if they were not careful they could draw the attention of the whole base. He listened more intently now and thought he heard people outside his cell now. Was somebody breaking in or breaking out? It was hard to be sure but it was clear he would not be getting out of the restraints on his own and whoever they were they were no friends of Hydra. He called out as loudly as he could "Hey on the off chance you are not Hydra how about helping me out of here, I can help you all get out?!"
