Introduction
A gifted circus. No, not a circus of those with extraordinary ordinary talents, but a circus and a zoo of those with supernatural abilities. They are considered freaks, not even human beings to the regular populace.
Di Morte.
Even the name brings shivers down one's spine, a name that encourages and fosters the inner voice dwelling in everybody's head. Go....look at them...mock them for what they really are...look. See how ashamed they are? They hide behind masks...
Founded in 1959 by an Italian man, gifted with the ability of charm, capable of winning so many to his side, when he came to America and discovered the treasure trove of all the young children, confused and lost by their abilities. They had no idea why they were doing such things. Why they seemed to be able to walk through things. Why their bones never broke, no matter what they did to them. Why, in some more extreme cases, were they capable of flying and all their playmates weren't.
The Italian, who called himself the Ringmaster, began collecting them.
He forced them to wear masks, implanting an idea in their heads that their identities had to be kept secret. If word got out what their real names were, the police and the authorities would come and take them away, lock them up forever. They didn't want that.
Each mask was custom made for each child. Each mask held a special meaning to the child. It alluded to the child's ability, or the child's personality or just the child's own desire.
The Ringmaster began teaching them how to perform. Those with the flashiest abilities would be given acts, while those with more mild, modest abilities were put on exhibit in the traveling zoo that went with the circus.
Soon, Di Morte became infamous.
The original Ringmaster treated them well. He considered himself one of them, because of his gift. All his performers, and even those in the zoo, were kept clean and well-fed, content with their lot.
But then, he died.
His son took over. He shed his old name, taking on the name of his father. The Ringmaster.
There are still some that remember the kindness of the previous Ringmaster, but he no longer lives. The new Ringmaster demands much. There are rumors surrounding the reasons why. Perhaps it's because he's not gifted and he's just jealous of his father's collection. But there are other rumors as well...rumors of a darker secret plaguing the Ringmaster's mind. But who dares find out?
In his presence, all are required to don their masks, which therefore means the performers and the exhibits must carry said mask with them at all times.
there will always be just a little bit of trouble....
Strange things have started to occur. Strange figures, passing along secret messages under the cover of darkness, hidden by the shadows, pressed against the walls of the tents.
But Di Morte is always on the move. One week in one place, one week in another, a third week for just a little bit of rest before they go back on the road. Life is demanding, but it is always worth it.
Happiness never lasts.
Amongst the members of Di Morte, there will always be insecurities. Always will there be secrets nobody else wants anybody else to know. Romances blossom. Friendships are forms. Hatred digs its dark claws deep into people's souls, corrupting the bond that could have been formed. All in a day's work at Di Morte.
Yet, behind the scenes, behind the flashy masks and the mysterious smiles, in the darkness of night, among the dead, there is a threat. A threat that comes, as they will soon find out, in a form of the least expected.

Rules
2. There is a limit to the number of gifts you can have. A limit of two (2) in fact. And if the gift that you have in mind for your character is an element, then that gift counts for all two (2). Shape-shifting counts as two as well. As for shape-shifters, nobody can transform into anything. There must be a limit. And no dragons, unicorns, etc.
3. On the subject of elements, I'd like to keep the number of elemental users low. Like...I'll accept two (2). Because I want to encourage your creativeness. Think of something other than elements. Elements are boring. Think of things like...the ability to talk to bananas or something.
4. Remember to interact. Don't have your character sit in a corner and wait for somebody else to initiate conversations.
5. On that note, don't make your character depressed, shallow, self-loathing or withdrawn. Because that does not make for a fun role play. I will accept creative, unique and interesting characters.
6. Don't complain if I don't accept your character.
7. To prove you have read everything, don't actually send me a PM with any word in it. Unless it's a question. In that case, feel free to send me a PM.
8. I choose whether or not you are a performer or an exhibit, simply because not everybody can be a performer. However, you may apply to be either and it will be up to me whether or not I grant it.
9. 3 characters max per person. 2 main characters and a secondary character. Just so it doesn't get too crowded.
10. Make sure to check the OOC thread often. Updates and answers to FAQ's will be answered there.

OOC Notes
Mornings always began early at Di Morte. Especially on the morning of a performance.
"Ringmaster...." He tested the name again, smirking as he slipped on the white half mask. He pulled back his dark hair into a ponytail at the base of his neck, tying it off with a blood red ribbon. He took his cane, which leaned against the wall, and headed out of the cabin onto the campgrounds.
--x--
Sawyer Jacobs shifted in his sleep, before something heavy crashed into his side. He jolted up, staring in bright panic at the fox spirit that sat, rather smug, on his stomach.
"Elora...." he moaned, falling back onto his cot.
"Get up," the fox spirit commanded. "Ringmaster approaches."
Sawyer scrambled for his mask, tugging it over his head just as Ringmaster turned the corner. His real name...Sawyer didn't know his real name. None of the circus members did.
"Good morning, Fox," Ringmaster's voice was smooth, polite as he stopped by Sawyer's room. Sawyer nodded, the back of his throat suddenly dry..
OOC Notes
It was time to begin.
He slipped his feathered mask on, giving a trilling bird-call to wake the others. The Ringmaster would be around to inspect any minute.

Sawyer, relieved, stepped out of his room, Elora trotting by his side - not that anybody else could see.
"That was rather more stressful than usual," the fox noted as Sawyer headed towards the cafeteria. His stomach rumbled.
"He scares me," Sawyer admitted with a soft voice. He pulled off his mask. "Something...about him...."

Confucia’s comment seemed out of the blue, heh, blue. Back to the point! One moment she was commenting on how absurd the apple was, and now she spoke of blue cheese, she was not aware that the comment seemed strange, but a curtain other individual was acutely aware, and he cocked an eyebrow at her from across the bench. His name was Kohn.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well that in front of you missy, so happens to be an apple, that which we humans consume. So consume it and quit complaining, you haven’t eaten in a day or so if I’m not mistaken.” Kohn dug back into his cereal, eyeing his friend with the blank mask. Why did he have to be the sensible one? If it weren’t for him this idiot would have starved by now probably, and Lark would have gotten hit on by numerous unsuspecting guys, and August would have said something offensive and gotten into trouble, and a thousand other things… He sighed.
“Do I need to shove that apple in your damn mouth? Or are you going to eat?” It didn’t make sense; he loved food, why would anyone not love food?
“Hello fox.” He nodded in Fox’s general direction as he entered.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well, I don’t think my mask allows for food shoving…” Confucia tapped her mask were her mouth should be, this was not good. Her mask was ok during work hours, but it was proving to be so inconvenient lately. She didn’t like being seen as nothing. Waving to Sawyer she tossed the apple into that air and it started to circle her head in a planetary fashion.
“I don’t think my apple can find an opening…”
OOC Notes
Their Ringmaster had a certain habit of.....well.....
Not being very gentle with the feminine male.
--x--
"Are you cold?" Ringmaster's voice slid across the room, as he crossed over to where the boy knelt. He put a hand in Lark's hair, lifting the boy so that Lark was standing.
OOC Notes
OOC Notes
He disappeared out the door, heading down the hall.
Where others still had yet to be inspected.
Insolence and messiness were not to be tolerated. Especially not on a show day.
OOC Notes
He couldn't bring himself to stand. His legs would not hold him.

Glow strutted around one of the cages, watching the creatures within as they quivered. They knew it as well as she did. The Ringmaster was approaching.
OOC Notes
--------------------------------------------
Kohn froze after Sawyer spoke, "He's with....fuckin." Kohn let his spoon clatter on his dish as he forced himself up. This was a recuring problem, the new Ringmaster was rather cruel, and Kohn tried as much as he could to redirect said cruelty as much as he could. He dearly missed the old ringmaster now more than ever.
He took off at a jog out of the cafeteria and passed said cruel ringmaster without even looking at him, pretending not to notice. He didn't stop until he came to Lark's cage. "Yo...hey you ok?" Kohn bent down, offering a hand to help him up, releaved to see no new bruises.
---------------------------------------------------------
"Oh dear, that makes for a poor way to start a day." Coni frowned, putting the apple down, suddenly her appetite was gone. "I hope Lark's ok, wish I could do something." She tapped her blank mask, she hated this damn thing.
OOC Notes
To everybody else, it looked like he was offering it to empty space.
The fox shook her head, curling up and laying her muzzle on her paws. Her intelligent eyes stared up at Sawyer, as the male reached down and put his own mask on the table. He studied the mask, before taking a thoughtful bite from the apple.
"Wish worms could talk," he responded to Coni's earlier statement. "Would make life a lot more fun."
"Because you don't have company enough?" Elora snorted.
"Shut up, El," Sawyer shot a dark look at the
--x--
Kohn ran by him. For a brief moment, the Ringmaster frowned, before he shrugged. Let them do as they pleased. He would be back later. This was his circus. These were his people. They would not get away with doing whatever they wanted for long.
His father had been too lenient on them.
"Glow," his voice held a note of affection. But was it affection? Did he feel affection?
OOC Notes
Why did the Ringmaster pick on him so much?
Probably because he reacted so well.

Glow smiled at the sight of the Ringmaster, reaching out and slipping her lush arms around his neck.
"My lord," She breathed.

"You're the one that said I should take it off! Off like a plane." She twirled her fingers, causing the mask to do a flip. She watched with glee as Sawyer spoke to Elora. "And is miss Elora this fine morning, still fabulous?" She smirked, snapping her fingers and causing a flower to pop out of the ground. She picked it up and waved it around. "Lack a day, for the elsutrious must grace us with her presence!" Confucia was trying to coax Elora out, she liked her, quite the curious person she was. Especially becasue she kept sawyer company so much.
"Oooo, look who's still alive." She winked over at Lark as he and Kohn filed in.
OOC Notes
"No, that's rude El," Sawyer sighed. "She's not in the mood today," he glanced apologetically at Coni. 'Thank God I'm not scheduled to perform....'
Elora got on her hind paws, sniffing at the table. Sure, she was a fox spirit. But she still liked to eat. She grabbed a scone. And all any other person could see would be the scone disappearing into thin air.
Sawyer looked up at Lark. "Hey~" he greeted the boy. He swept a critical eye over him. "You alright?"
--x--
The Ringmaster smirked, unlocking Glow's cage as he pressed his lips to the inside crease of her arm. "Step out into the sunshine, my dear," he murmured. "It's hard to see you in the dark. And today is performance day~" He laughed a little, a somewhat...strange laugh.
OOC Notes
"I'm fine," He whispered, flushing, dismayed that they were all so worried about him.

Glow stepped out of the cage, letting her long, bare leg brush against him as she moved. The sunlight hit her, and seemed to shatter, intensifying into a halo of brilliance.
OOC Notes
The flower she held slowly fell back into the ground from wence it came, it, much like most things, was not permanent.
----------------------------------------
"If you aren't performing, mind keeping an eye on everyone while I'm up?" Kohn and his Lion tamer act were up today, if he was performing then he couldn't watch over everyone. Who the hell gave him that job anyway? What a pain.
OOC Notes
She could wait. Wait until the ringmaster was by himself.
OOC Notes
OOC Notes
"That's right....believe him," Elora curled up around Lark, despite the fact that she knew he couldn't feel or see her.
--x--
He smirked at Glow. "Go eat," he murmured. "Today's a big day."
He turned abruptly, heading down the hall again.
He stopped outside Milly's cage.
OOC Notes
OOC Notes
So, not until tonight.
He picked up a scone, glad that he wore only a half mask so he could eat.

Glow watched the Ringmaster jealously, knowing full-well where he was going. She tossed back her dark hair an headed off for the dining hall.
OOC Notes
Confucia smiled behind her mask as Kohn snorted at her joke. Daring that was, but funny...
OOC Notes
Sawyer had the sinking feeling he didn't want to know.
"I can find out for you, if you want." Elora jumped up onto the table, before she began mocking Glow. Sawyer stifled a snort of laughter.
--x--
"Good morning," he nodded at Milly, accepting the rose. But he didn't smile. "Did you have nice dreams? Today is performance day. Are you ready?"
He seemed in a good enough mood this morning.......
But who knew how long that would last.

You know what. Here's some videos if you'd like to see exactly what our dance team does. The information you'll need to know about it is in the video description. xD
As a little side note, I'm on Red Team. :3 But I'll post a black team video my sister got as well.
Black Galaxy - 2010
Red Underworld - 2010
Red Circus - 2009
ANYWAY so that was what I was doing.
And yeah.
So I'm online now. I just have to go read some posts. :3
PS @ Tæfarós
Yes. That line was intentional. ;3

Re: [OOC] Di Morte
I mean, I won't get mad if you post past that time range or something, but I just don't want a lot of posting when only like, two people are online and everybody else can't make it. Because nobody wants to read the conversations that takes place between characters that don't really have anything to do with yours.
And Taefaros, I totes get what you're saying. Mebbe their show will begin then. :3
If Gorie gets online. >_<
Re: [OOC] Di Morte
Alright I shan't bore ya'll anymore with my life story haha. <3
Re: [OOC] Di Morte
That schedule sounds about right, though the posting seemed to pace itself a bit when we all decided to become Animal Collective. Awesome. Say, if I post at 11:30, will you rage?
By the way, today was really something. The first senior art final went up today; we basically get the school gallery to ourselves for a week, and son, I was not disappoint. Spent most of the night with my partner before she offs back to college in the morning, so here I am after dark again. xD
I titally understand, Gorie. It's all of matter of compromising how early the post-school hours will be, which range from a lot to...a lot more. Speed reading isn't quite my deal unfortunately, although I do have a habit of rereading posts for the hell of it. You guys are just too sweet. Also, was the "acting was her forte line" intentional? Because in the context of music, it was brilliant.
Unless you take your daughter on a play date, Adel? I daw'd hard at that. Seriously.
Oh hey, how about having Wyn and Sage start their performance after his dance offering? They could be accompanied by musical outlets and whatnot. :)
And now I'll shut up, maybe post if I don't pass out soon.
Re: [OOC] Di Morte
You guys post so much. I apologize for getting on so late this past week! I've had swim practice and we're tapering because it's our last week (T.T).
So. I've been thinking. In order for people to catch up (I know FancyMittens and Everscale have been complaining to me about how they can't keep up with everything that's going on since all three of us [know each other irl] are still in high school and therefore don't have as much time as others), we should have a posting schedule.
Every night, at around 6:00, the posting should begin. And end at around 10:30. That way, people can be on and we can know what's happening and everything doesn't really run away before the Ringmaster can even get a word in.
