Introduction
But the night was just starting in the center of Acton City, in the Silver Strip. The noise was immense, the streets heaving with crowds and crowds of people, traffic horns blaring, lights flashing and the sound of music spilling out from open doors, rolling of queues and queues of people. Rows of clubs let only the creme de la creme through their doors, rejecting and turning away those who did not fit their perfect standards. But for those turned away, the Dirty Pretty Things, there was always one place you could go, one place that never turned you away.
At the far end of the Silver Strip sat the entrance to the old Acton City underground railway. A small sign, printed in simple letters reads "Mantro" set above a black nondescript door. There are no velvet ropes here, no bouncers to reject you if you don't look right. The door is locked, but when you knock, someone inside will open it for you. You never see them, but they are there.
Heading down the stairs, the music starts to get louder, the first place you come to is the Silver Strip stop platform. Here you can check your coats and bags, grab a drink and head off down the tracks to another section of the club. Mantro stretches the entire length of the Silver Strip and even a little beyond. Each platform plays different music, Acton Central plays electro, whilst the next stop down, Red Square plays rock and metal. It's the club of the people, beneath everyone else.
But tonight, Mantro will become so much more. A series of events on the surface, that no-one can agree on the origin of, means that the only people left in Acton are the Dirty Pretty Things. Safe down in Mantro whilst chaos reigned overhead, the survivors of Mantro emerge, eventually, into a desolate city, the only people for miles around being whoever they met that night down in the tunnels.
Would you trust a stranger with your life?
This RP will be set initially in Mantro Nightclub, over four of the eight stations (for sake of keeping everyone close together.) Those four stations will be Silver Strip (entrance) Acton Central, Red Square and Cemetery Drive. Your character will have to be in one of these four stations as when the disaster hits, the others will be blocked off and there will be no way out for them. If you have read this far, please put which station you wish to have your character start at on your character sheet.
When enough people have joined, we will start. There will be a period of four hours (not real hours by the by) for your characters to get together and get to know each other. During these four hours your characters will be able to come in and out of Mantro, but must be inside before the disaster hits or else they will be killed. The disaster will cause cave ins and debris to fall within Mantro, so your characters may not escape uninjured.
If need be, after the disaster has struck, I will put more details of the areas of Acton City in here. For now, we'll stick with Mantro.
Locations Within Mantro
Silver Strip Station The main entrance into and out of Mantro. There is a cloakroom here as well as bar, the music is mellow, welcoming you in Mantro. If you head left your next station will be Red Square. To your right is Acton Central.
Red Square Station The place to be if you like your music loud and heavy. Red Square Station DJ's specialize in rock and heavy metal music. All requests considered but if you ask for Miley Cyrus, prepare to have your ass kicked. The exit to the left of Red Square Station has been blocked off and is used as a storage area.
Acton Central Station You wanna dance? Come to Acton Central, where the music beats are harder than anywhere else. The place for ravers to congregate, don't forget your glowsticks at the door. The next station down from Acton Central is Cemetery Drive.
Cemetery Drive Station Cemetery Drive, aka The Cooldown Room. Come here for peace and quiet, the music is low enough for you to be able to talk and there are comfy chairs littering the tracks and platforms. The place to go to chill out and cool down. The next tunnel on from Cemetery Drive will be blocked during the disaster.
Rules
Please, try to be literate. I know we all have our off days, but a minimum of 100 words per post please. If you aren't feeling up to a post that day, don't worry, shake it off and come back later and try again.
Format correctly, that means separate lines for dialogue and action. It's quite hard to read a post when it's all bunched together.
No Mary Sue's/Gary Stu's. Also no whiners. If something happens that you disagree with, take it up in PM with your fellow player.
The city may be fictional but this is a modern setting. No special powers. Just regular people trying to survive.
Minimum age of characters will be 18, since this is a nightclub setting. As things progress there may be survivors in the city, so younger characters may be accepted then.
If you can't spell then don't apply. And I don't mean if you can't spell words like antidisestablishmentarianism (which Google Chrome hates.) If you regularly use the letter u for you, or 2 for two/too or use there/their incorrectly I will twitch with annoyance.
Swearing is fine, just please, don't make the f-word every second word in your post, it smacks of a lack of creativity.
Wanna get it on with your fellow roleplayer? Fine with me, flirt and kiss all you want in post just take any more serious bow-chicka-wow-wow to PM for the sake of my sanity.
Oh, also, violence is allowed, just discuss between players if you want to kill each other.
No God moding please.
If you are gonna be gone for longer than three days, please, post in OOC so everyone knows not to include your character in posts.
I think that's all for now! May add more later.
