“no-do-well-er”, he likes it. He is humorous, polite to women (especially the elves!)
He’s proud of his militant uniform, often boasting that he was the militant sergeant where he lived.
He has a small problem with hygiene, however. While he doesn’t mind spending the last of his coins on a mug of ale, or a time with a good woman, he does mind spending it on getting a shower, or buy herbs for improving his already yellow teeth.
“Why should I spend me good money on dat? If there be problem, I ask a healer. They can do everything with dat fancy magik.”Oh, and if it wasn’t already noted, he uses a lot of slang, speaks his mind before thinking and curses a bit.
Nation of Origin: Ferelden
Skills: Albert knows how to
survive in the woods and (somewhat) in the urban cities, he can play several games of card as well as doing a
magic trick with cards (usually pulling out the card that the person took).
Having been a farmer and militia, Albert is more experienced with the rural life; harvesting, patrolling the lands, hunting, ensuring order, feeding the kids while making the wife happy. All that sort of peasantry stuff is common for him. So overall, he’s an excellent tracker and trap maker (though mainly for animals)
Background:Born and raised in a small agricultural village, Albert grew up as a farmer, just like his father, and his father, and so forth, though being in a family of nine children already meant that there were enough hands for the farm, so Albert and his two younger brothers decided by the age of 18 that they would make work as the local militia. Reporting to their lords for service, they were accepted into the militia before they had received any form of training (not that they complained).
Time passed, albert and was married by the time he was twenty three, and had his first child when he was twenty five. It was peaceful, he would spend some time patrolling, helping his other brothers with their farm, drinking half his payment away while giving the rest for his wife to use.
The village militia sergeant never bothered to make any proper report to their lord, so when a messenger was send to investigate, Albert stepped forth, accepted responsibility and explaining that
“We’ve been searchin’ for a deep answer to a mystery. The crops be not as tall as last year…Maybe a witch is about!” The servant left and they never saw anyone from their lord’s lands again.
Two months later, the sergeant retired and Albert was (unofficially) promoted for his replacement; mainly thanks to his bold action when the messenger was there.
Time passed, and news of the darkspawn invasion reached Albert’s small village. Many young men left the city, leaving the city almost defenceless; Albert and a dozen other militiamen remained to protect the village, mainly because they were too lazy to go marching for some distant battle (and there was no mentioning of payment!).
Time passed and then another messenger arrived…The Darkspawns were coming, by the thousands! Not only did panic spread through the village like wildfire, the city council debated whether they were to make a stand behind their wooden walls (which had saved them time after time) or flee. Some suggested that they were to burn it all down, and poison the wells, but it was over-voted and decided that the militia was to prepare an orderly evacuation of the village…You can guess how well that went with albert in charge.
It was every family for themselves. The darkspawn hunted each family down, showing no mercy, and those with no skills in fighting proved little to match the ferocity of the darkelves. Albert and his two other militia brothers agreed that they would stay behind and distract the darkspawn so their family could make it for the ports and then they would be re-united in the Free Marches, Kirkwall.
Everything went according to plan, till the brothers got separated, and Albert was on his own, fighting his way to the main road and making North, towards any port that would take him to the Free Marches.
He never saw any of his family members again.
Spending a year in depression, drinking and begging, Albert finally pulled himself together and found a work as a private guardsman and bodyguard for merchants and their caravans. With time he gathered himself a small band of sell-swords, hired amongst gangs, merchants and vengeance seeking clients.
Life became better that way, the more he fought the better he became. Albert enjoyed the life like that, most often the gangs would either negotiate or bribe him into leaving them alone. Any case he always got paid…At least it continued like that for a while…Till the Qunaries began killing the citizens, that was when hell broke out for Albert.
More than half of his men killed, those who were left had fled Kirkwall, and that left Albert back to where he started when he arrived at Kirkwall, though this time he knew how to start.
Gathering a new group of thugs and bullies, Albert started off with a group of battle hardened men, this time they aimed for much higher priced business, and that they found…Cartel blood feuds, kidnappings and low-levelled assassinations was their new profession.
Again, the life of criminals paid off for Albert and his gang. They got their money, lived what they thought to be a good life. Yet, once again…The political affairs ruined their otherwise peaceful life-style…The civil war between the Templars and Mages caused yet another all-out war to start in the streets of Kirkwall.
This time, Albert fled the city, stealing what was left of the money of his gang. Now, albert sees himself as a man of fortune, fighting whenever someone has money, and
Other Info:Albert is an alcoholic and although he tries to be tough it becomes too much of a bother for him in the long run.
