Introduction

Dragons.

We all know they don’t exist. They are just the fairy tale antagonist that keeps the prince from the damsel or the hero from the treasure. They are big things with wings that fly around and breath fire and just generally make a nuisance of themselves until someone comes along to slay them. Definitely not real.

Right?

Well… Not exactly. To the general public, dragons don’t exist. But that doesn’t make them any less real. It was only 600 years ago that humans confirmed that dragons are, in fact, real. Oh, you won’t find that in any history textbook or Wikipedia page (except perhaps the conspiracy wiki), but trust me when they say they are very real. Real enough that on-and-off war has waged between the humans and the dragons

Yeah, war. Is it so hard to believe that there was a war and no one noticed? Okay… Maybe it is. But it happened. The human side did its best to keep the war silent and unknown, and it did a pretty good job of it. How do I know that? Well, we are having this conversation, aren’t we? These medieval humans were both clever and powerful to pull off a stunt like a secret war. They were the start of the Dragon Hunters.

We finally got there; the Dragon Hunters. They were founded sometime in the 1400’s, amidst a veil of secrecy. The monarchs and even some of the nobles knew of the group, and it was thanks to royal wealth that the Hunters survived to become the longest active and also the first international non-religious organization in history. Anyway, the kings and queens would pay the Hunters to keep dragons from ravaging their lands (quite a big threat back then). Using a combination of magic, weapons, and shear willpower, the Hunters waged a defensive war against the dragons for the next 500 or so years, only stopping for the temporary truces that rarely lasted more than 5 years. Even in the 1900’s, the Hunters still fought bitterly against the dragons to keep human civilization intact. Then, things changed with the 1930’s.

We all know what happened between 1933 and 1945. What most people don’t know is that it marked the first time dragons and humans fought on the same side. Hitler made a contract with a large group of radical dragons that wanted to take land and form their own open country. Hitler offered them a deal that they would fight for him and he would grant them land once he had taken the globe. The dragon splinter jumped at the opportunity, and thus began an unholy alliance that almost changed the fate of the world.

Ever wonder why the Germans were able to move so quickly across Europe? Part of it was due to his excellent armored troops, but another part was due to the dragons on his side. They could be used as almost any type of unit, from an armored behemoth to a nigh-on invincible aircraft to a deadly submarine. Ask some of the old allied pilots, especially the British ones; some of them might have stories of confronting beasts in the skies and engaging in great aerial duels. Any pilot who tangled with them will tell you of their sharp movements, impossible agility, and massive (and literal) firepower. It is almost harder not to recognize what they fought than to forget about it.

Luckily for the world, however, Hitler wasn’t the only one to ally with the dragons. Once they realized that they were under attack by a group of their own, the dragons broke into virtual civil war. With the radicals allied with Hitler, the conservatives chose to throw their lot in with the Allied forces, knowing that it was the only hope of defeating the Radicals now that they had allies in the Axis. The fighting was fierce, that was for sure. Dragons and Dragon Hunters fought now under the same banner, if only temporarily, to keep balance in the world. They had parts in battles major and minor in all theaters, whether the history books recorded it as such or not. And eventually, at the cost of millions of lives, human or otherwise, peace was finally one. And not just peace with the Germans.

After fighting alongside each other, the Dragons and the Hunters had realized something; they really weren’t all that different. Both had their reasons to fight, be them fame, family, or otherwise, and both sides found that they could not only tolerate, but even enjoy each other’s company. Soon after the war, the newly formed United Nations absorbed the Dragon Hunters into themselves to form a sort of supernatural world police. In fact, the Hunters had even become a joint operation between the humans and dragons, and for the first time in history, dragons and humans fought alongside each other as not just allies but as comrades, looking out for the interests of the world, or at least as the Hunters viewed them. It’s too bad it did not spread to the rest of both cultures.

Even if they were officially at peace, humans and dragons mixed about as well as oil and water. Each side though the other inferior to themselves, and, naturally, this caused some tension and disagreements. There are always one or two groups out there trying to take the other race down a peg. That is why the Dragon Hunters still exist (although I honestly don’t know why they are still called that). They keep the peace between species and take down anything that threatens the balance. In other words, they are a glorified police agency. Um… don’t tell any of them that I said that, alright?

Wow, I’ve been going on for a while now and I haven’t even mentioned the different types of dragons, have I? Well, better late than never, right?

First I’ll give you some standard info about all types of dragons. All dragons have some form of “breath,” be it fire, ice, water, or anything like that. Sometimes it is just “wind breath,” but even that can make faster than 200 mph gales, depending on the dragon and species, which is nothing to take lightly, even if it can’t fry you. Second, dragons learned long ago how to shift themselves down into human form. In fact, many dragons choose to live like this in groups so they don’t take up inordinate amounts of space. Why live as a 60’ long dragon all the time when you can be a 5’ something humanoid that can both use the powers and transform back to the big ass dragon at will? Yeah, you can see why they do it now. Oh, and the average lifespan of a dragon can be upwards of 1000 years; hence why they are known for carrying grudges. Now let’s get to the types of dragons.

First off is the Western Dragons. Yeah. The ones that everyone outside of Asia thinks of when they think dragon. They breath fire, have four legs, two wings, tremendous size, and come in almost any color of the rainbow. They are obviously based in Europe, although a group of them split off long ago to fly out to “the New World.” Meaning there are two groups of western dragons; the ones in Europe lead by a king and queen, and the ones in the Americas led by their president. And they say they learned nothing from humans…

Next will be the Wyverns. Wyverns are from Africa, and are strong and proud. They have two legs, two wings, large size, and insane strength, even for a dragon. They usually have muted greens or browns, although the tribes that live in the Sahara and the Kalahari tend to have tan shades for scales. Their “breath” can be either a weaker fire than Europeans or a weak wind, which would be around 50mph. The group together in tribes, and every couple of years, a contest is held to determine who the representative of all tribes will be. The “contests” range from tests of physical strength and endurance to straight out fighting to leading ability. The most well-rounded Wyvern is chosen, and he (or she, occasionally) speaks for the tribes until the next contest, in which he must go through and win the contests again if he wishes to stay as the speaker. The speaker can lead the tribes to an extent, but major decisions require a tribal council and a majority of the tribes’ acquiescence to pass. That can be pretty hard, considering the rivalries that go between tribes. Glad it isn’t my job.

Third is the Eastern Dragon. They are probably the most different from the other dragon species. They have two hands/claws, two legs, and no wings, although that doesn’t mean they can’t fly. Their “breath” is generally wind, although there have been cases of water and even electrical blasts from their mouths. They are known for their extreme length, and their abundant wisdom. They are the least antagonistic toward humans, and humans in the east revered them, not reviled them. They are led by an emperor from his palace at Shangri-La, the largest all-dragon city in the world. Every now and then, a human will wander onto Shangri-La, and while most stay, some return with stories. Where did you think the legends came from?

Another race of dragon is the Water Dragon, although humans are more apt to call them Sea Serpents. They are most like giant water snakes, with no arms, legs, or wings. They are also unable to fly, although this is circumvented by both the speed at which they can swim and their human forms being able to take things like planes to travel. Many mythical sea creatures have some basis in the Water Dragons. Mermaids (modified human forms), sirens (again, same thing), sea serpents (normal form), all of these things come from the water dragons. They are, for the most part, isolationists, so I can tell you almost nothing about their social structure and stuff. I just know enough to say that it is nothing like “The Little Mermaid,” alright?

Finally, we come to the Snow Dragons. They almost all live in the Arctic Circle, except for the few hermits that decided to fly to the Antarctic. In dragon form, they are almost all white or a shade of icy blue. They breathe, of course, ice, or at the very least a liquid that becomes ice on contact with a surface. They mostly live in the second largest dragon city, named Jotunheim. It is a city carved entirely into the Arctic itself, situated deep into the ground in a system of caves, tunnels, and chambers. The snow dragons are both isolationists and traditionalists, meaning that they refused any sort of contact and truce with humans for the past 60 or so years. It is just now that they have agreed to sign a formal truce and peace treaty with the humans. Who knows, that maybe that will end all the fighting once and for all.

Alright, I think that is everything. Wait, you want to know about magic? Come on, I just told you all about the dragons. Isn’t that enough? No? Haaaah, I guess I can tell you what I know about magic. I don’t actually know that much, so you will have to forgive me for being brief. Why don’t I know a lot? Well, there are a hell of a lot of different kinds of magic. Most of the stuff in novels is based on some fact. Some people use staffs, some people use wands, some people use incantations, some people use summoning, some people don’t use anything. There is a society of mages in London, I think, but they are even more secretive than the Dragon Hunters, and getting what I have on the hunters was a piece of work, let me tell you. At any rate, that’s about all I have on magic.

Still, from what I hear, the Hunters are still recruiting, both dragons and humans. Maybe it is for the peace treaty signing that is coming up, but for whatever reason, they are recruiting hard. Oh, you aren’t ex or current military or police or whatever and think you can’t join? Well, who knows, maybe you can learn some magic or something or how to be a field medic or something. They really do need help, from what I hear.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hi there everyone! This was something I came up with a while back but never got off the ground. I always liked it, so just recently I went back and completely rewrote it. It went from being about a 400 word description to be 2000+ word description. In the process, I got a much better handle on where I want it to go, so now it is just a matter of getting people involved. Ah, but you didn't check this out to hear me ramble. So let me get on with the show!

Well, anyway, this RP will be action and story based, and set in the modern era. Before you ask, no, you don't technically have to be a part of the Dragon Hunters to be in this fic, but don't expect be to work overtime and concoct ridiculous reasons to involve you in the plot early on if at all. You would need to see a way to get them in and talk to me about it, for as much as I like freedom, having people start with no reason to get involved usually is a recipe for an early death. If you have a good way to get them involved, the go for it, and even if you don't I will try to think of a way, but I honestly don't guarantee that it will be all too soon in the game.

I will put in here what you need for a character:
Code: Select all
[leftORright][/leftORright]
OPTIONAL: [leftORright][/leftORright]
Name: (Obviously)
Age: (Think about their jobs before saying 15)
Species: (Again, obvious)
Description: (This is your 1000 words if you have no pic, or any deviations from the picture)
Personality: (Please, I beg you, apply angst only sparingly)
Equipment: (Probably weapons for the humans, but can include whatever you want)
Abilities: (For dragons, you can specify the type of dragon and what it can do.  Humans, put your magic and how it works)
History:  (Figure it out.  It can be as long or as short as you like)
Extra: (You have more to say?  Put it here!)

Note: For the "leftORright" tags, delete the OR along with the direction you don't want the picture on.

The rules will probably be up by the time you read this, but if not, please note they are on the way. We will start once I feel we have enough people to be ready. If anyone wants to play a villain, tell me and I will consider. I have a plan in mind, I just need to see if it will pan out.

Rules

 1. Listen to the GM. I made the fic, I know what I am doing, shocking as that may sound
 2. Listen to your fellow players. They are not idiots; they know when you are powerplaying. Disputes, which are almost inevitable, will be solved by me as fairly as possible.
 3. Listen to your gut. It it sounds OP, it probably is OP. When it doubt, submit it to be and we can make it less OP.
 4. I would like to be able to read the posts, so use correct grammar and spelling. I understand mistakes, but there is a point where I am not sure if you are talking to someone or summoning a demon
 5. Have fun. Seriously, it is a hell of a lot easier to write about something you enjoy than something you hate. If you think I am being a killjoy, stick-in-the-mud, or just boring, call me out on it and I will fix it.

The air was a lot more than just crisp out. Sync walked briskly through the streets in the largest cavern of Jotunheim, pulling his white winter coat even tighter around himself. Even he wasn’t immune to the cold. He suspected that Snow Dragons would be the only ones that could casually stand this cold. The only positive thing was that the cave systems didn’t really allow for wind chill. Still, he would be happier when they had signed that treaty and gotten out of there.

He finally arrived in front of a line of his Hunters. They were his squad for this mission; the first squad he had been able to lead in the field for a long time. Being promoted had seemed good at the time, but it really only meant that he had to stay at the base and do paperwork rather than lead in the field. Hopefully, he would be able to change that.

Still, it was time to hand out assignments. They had to take the protection of this event very seriously, considering what a screw up here could mean. After all, the stakes here were peace and hope for the foreseeable future, and that was something that you really couldn’t be too careful about. The Snow Dragons changed about as fast as a glacier moved, and for them to agree to a permanent peace treaty was a huge deal. “Ron, I need you to go up to the palace roof and set up a position to potentially snipe from, or at least see everything that is going on. Charoi, since you are new to this, go up with him and see what we are all doing down here. That should help you get a grasp on what we do.

“Thorn, Jessie, you two go on patrols around the square and look for anything odd before you come back here. Monica, Uther, you two are with me. Let’s go.” Sync motioned for them all to get to their jobs before motioning to Monica and Uther to follow him. There was a little bit of time left, but Sync wanted to get to who they had to watch quickly.

Ron gave a half salute to the commander and watched the young man walk off. Well, he claimed to be older than Ron, but that was kind of hard to believe. Well, Ron had heard good things about this guy around the barracks. Although, strangely, he could find out little about the guy. Well whatever, he would keep them alive for now.

Ron reached into his jacket, and withdrew his flask from its compartment and took a gulp to warm himself up. He then replaced it and pulled up the sniper rifle he had been issued for the mission to his shoulder. He had been wondering why they had given watch duty to him at first, but after seeing the team, it was no doubt that he was probably one of the more expierenced gunmen around.

Well whatever, he began to walk to the palace motioning the young girl to follow him.

Ron had never met her before and had never seen her around the barracks. Well, Sync had mentioned that she was new. First impressions was that she was a bit of a shy one. But he really didn't want to judge too much. From the characters he had met in his life, his first impressions had been proved wrong enough.

Soon the pair got up to the palace and Ron explained to a guard what they were up to. And after offering the dragon a sip from his flask, which was disdainfully rejected, Ron shrugged and thanked the dragon. He soon made his way up to the top floor of the palace and soon found the maintainance stairs to the roof. Ron thanked the dragon's insight about not wanting dragons to land on their roof and insisting maintanance personell transformed into human form before attending duties.

He opened up into the open cavern again and brought his rifle over to the edge of the building and set it down. He then stretched and lay down the rifle.

Well... He was set, but he figured it would still be some time before anything happened. Nevertheless, he laid down next to the rifle and began scanning the courtyard and adjusting the scope. As he did this though, he spoke up to the girl that was with him.

"Damn cold in here. I tell ya, the other dragons are going to be freezing their scales off in here. Especially those 'Verns, they really don't have anything like this around there, do they? Well, not that anywhere does."

Finally finished adjusting the rifle, Ron withdrew his eye from the scope and turned to the girl. "Hey there, I'm Ron. Don't think we've ever met."

Jessie's lit up when the commander gave her a job. Patrolling! glorious! she thought, thrilled at the opportunity to move around, she was not in the mood to sit still on at a high location snipping, or watching the whole treaty making process unfold. Not to mention the cold was beginning to get to her.

Full of energy, the cold wasn't much of a problem for Jes, she kept the heat in her jacket circulating back instead of escaping only allowing her unnaturally high core temperature to drop 3 degrees to a toasty 103 degrees Fahrenheit. As long as she kept the energy cycling she wasn't losing any of it and temperature problems would only arise if she started using excessive fire magic. Hopefully if the business went as planned she wouldn't have to do any fire tricks. Either way her ash pouch was tied securely around her wrist and hidden in her sleeve, patrolling could get dangerous and she was ready if anything went wrong.

Luckily the square wasn't too far off and she would get there in no time with her partner if they moved quickly which would probably pump up their blood flow adding to heat. As soon as the commander was pretty much out of ear shot and they were expected to be moving to their posts. Jes turned her attention to Thorn.

"Are you holding up in this cold? I wouldn't mind running around a bit if you're up for it? To get the blood pumping, you know?" Jessie smiled and looked ready to run a marathon.

Thorn was in her dragon form. She disliked being in her human form during winter and so stayed this way most of the winters alot. She shook her head, as more snow fell onto her scales. Smoke started coming out of her nostrils in puffs as she made herself warm by using her inside fire. It was like making fire but not actually letting it form all the way to shoot out from her mouth.

When Sync ordered them to patrol, Thorn had thought of making some snide remark but luckly she kept her mouth shut and concentrated on keeping herself warm. Although she didn't insult Sync, she would make up for it later by causing trouble for everyone. Then everyone would either be upset, tired or just angry with her. She was fine with that alot better then being bossed around.

When Jess asked about walking to keep warm.Thorn knelt down a bit, looked at Jess and simply showed a few teeth or so, before jumping into the sir, pumping her wings alot harder then usual to stay in the air. The snow of course made it harder for her but she was used to it from years of winters. She ignored some of the ice forming on her scales and the snow landing on her. She kept her ice blue eyes on her surroundings then she flew back down and landed beside Jess.

"No flying intruders." Thorn spoke as she shook herself. Some snow that had fallen on her during her flight fell off and there were even some clatters as ice fell. She growled angered by the ice cold winter and spat fire at the snow on the ground in front of her causing the snow to melt. Terrible weather... She thought as she started walking forward not bothering to check if Jess was following.

Charoi was excited. This was her first mission with the Dragon Hunters. Not even the cold bothered her too much because water dragons sometimes swam deep in the barren depths of the ocean. She followed the human to the roof, thinking about the dragons that flew around. She envied them and their ability to fly until she realized it was very human to want what others have.

I'm a dragon, not a human, she reminded herself. Sometimes it was easy to fall into the laspe of thinking she was the human her parents had raised her as. Were humans and dragons really that different mentally though? One had to wonder.

The human's voice startled her out of her reverie, "Damn cold in here. I tell ya, the other dragons are going to be freezing their scales off in here. Especially those 'Verns, they really don't have anything like this around there, do they? Well, not that anywhere does."

Charoi nodded her head in agreement, even though the cold wasn't that bad under her layers. The human introduced himself as Ron.
"I'm Charoi, and I'm not human, I am a water dragon. Nice to meet you." Charoi replied. She hoped that the fact that she was a dragon wouldn't upset the human. She still didn't know much of how humans treated dragons as she had just recently found out she was one.

While travelling the world on his search for the covert group, Noah had finally come across a decent lead. The Dragon Hunters would be signing a treaty with his people. At first he wasn't sure if he believed it, the Ice Dragons were proud, traditionalist, change wasn't something they were comfortable with.

Maybe the world is changing.. He quickened his pace, beating his wings harder, it had been quite a while since he had flown through a blizzard. It's close, just a little further.. Noah hadn't been home for almost 10 years, travelling the globe, living in the human world. After all this time he could find his home from anywhere, even though he could hardly see in this snow, it was instinct that lead him the right way. And at last... Jotunheim

Noah landed, quite gracefully, and shook out his wings and shifted into his human form, "home, sweet home" he sighed and pulled out some clothes from the backpack he was carrying in one of his claws. Quickly pulling on a pair of dark grey cargo pants and a white singlet, no shoes, no jacket, the Ice Dragon blood made fairly impervious to the cold. He slung his pack over his shoulder and started making his way through one of the large entrance caverns of the city.

After just a few minutes he noticed a courtyard not far ahead, he heard talking, then into sight came a dragon "YES!" He raised his fists into the air in triumph because it wasn't an Ice dragon in front of him but an ebony scaled Western Dragon and a human girl standing next to her. Noaah rushed towards them "It's true then? You're the Dragon Hunters, right? And you're here to sign a peace treaty with my people?.. Oh, sorry. My name is Noah, this is my home" He bowed his head towards the Dragon politely then extended his hand to the human girl "Welcome to Jotunheim"

Ron pushed himself up from the cold tiles of the roof for a minute and leaned back raising his hands in defense from the snappily worded responce. At least she had said 'Nice to meet you' "Hey, hey. No offense there." Ron said "Know you dragons can get touchy about that sometimes. The other dragons were just transform'n so I figured all of the dragons would have. Though if you are a serpent guess that makes sense, and also explains why you don't have any firepower on ya. Unless you got a surprise in that bag of yours." He smiled at that, imagining a rifle being produced from that small bag.

Once more he reached into his jacket and produced his flask, from which he took a quick sip. "This your first mission with the Hunters? Sync said that you were new. Well, for that matter, ever been to Jotunheim?"

Ron began capping his flask, giving the dragon a chance to answer before rembering his manners. He pointed the flask at the dragon. No matter how she looked, Charoi was a dragon, so she had already been born before his grandfather had. "Drink to warm you up?"

Charoi saw that she had not responded to the Ron's question in a proper way. His hands up made it seem like she had verbally assulted him. I got to loosen up a bit. This may be my first mission but that gives me no excuse to be disrespectful, she thought.

In response to Ron's question she said, "Yes, this is my first mission. It is also my first visit to Jotunheim. Cold is like a predator here, coming into any crevice and any unprotected spot."

When Ron offered her his alcohol Charoi blushed. Sure she was 18 and a legal adult, but people were not supposed to buy alcohol untill they were 21 and Charoi interperpted that as you were not supposed to drink it until that time. Sure a little wine tasting was fine every here and now, but definitely not on a mission. The thought then struck her that Ron assumed that she was older than she was, since most dragons her age would be little more than babies.

"No, thank you though. I'm still 18 and don't drink." she said.

"It's true then? You're the Dragon Hunters, right? And you're here to sign a peace treaty with my people?.. Oh, sorry. My name is Noah, this is my home"

Thorn looked up at the human in front of her. It took her a second to realize he was a snow dragon, not human. She heard what he said then debated whether or not to roar in his face or to sound the alarm. Well Sync said to patrol which to Thorn is to basically sound the alarm if she saw any intruders. She rolled her eyes before making a movement that looked like dragon's version of a shrug.

Thorn looked at Jess wondering what the girl would do about this. Thorn wasn't the one to always do things the right way, especially when she was grouchy and the weather was making her more grouchy then ever. If you had known her about half her life, then you could tell by the extra smoke rising from her nostrils that she was annoyed and probably angry.

Hearing nothing from Jess, Thorn decided to speak first. "Truth. You really rely on whether or not the statement is true?" She asked, sounding a little sharp. She didn't bother to say their names, mostly because she didn't know this dragon. She didn't know if he was trustworthy friend-to-be or a lying murderous dragon.

C-curse t-this everl-lasting c-cold! Final thought bitterly, the icy floor biting into his back as he lay against the floor in one of the many tunnels of Jotunheim.

He had been stuck in this miserable place for three weeks now, waiting for the inevitable arrival of the Dragon Hunters. About a month ago, he had gotten hold of a lead that the mysterious group and the ice dragons were going to sign a peace treaty, thus tightening the one of the final loose ends in the world of dragons and dragon hunters. Final himself had only come out of solitude several years before (somewhat recovered from the deaths of his family), and had come determined to join them and to prove to himself that he wasn't weak like he thought back during the war.

So, that is why he finds himself here, still in the same frozen city of Jotunheim, still laying on the same frozen floors.

However, today was soppose to be the signing of the treaty. A perfect time to find a dragon hunter and get himself recruited. With a will, Final lifted himself from the floor and decided to begin his search, making his way down the ice inclosed tunnel. In these seemingly endless hallways, which were actually quite large to contain the ice dragons that inhabited them, Final wandered aimlessly until his tunnel opened up into a large courtyard, his eyes immediatly spotting the three figures near the outer edges. Two of them seemed to be talking to eachother. From here, he couldn't tell if they were dragons or not.

If their Hunters, they may be patroling. Asking wouldn't be such a great idea... However, that didn't stop Final's curiousity to get the best of him. So off he went, making his way towards the three, hoping for the best.

“Monica, Uther, you two are with me. Let’s go.”

She just nodded after hearing the command and then following the squad leader quietly. Monica never mention somebody with their name, never was never would. It was an attachment to remember names and attachment always brought inefficiency. She had learning that in a hard way.

Monica was inhaling a deep breath to clear her mind. Each swift step she took was soundless. Silver hair blended perfectly with white surrounding, she pout a little at that. Jotunheim was comfortable to her because of its cold air and low temperature. But still, the stiff atmosphere and the heavy mood made the place almost suffocating. It was important mission, no time to relax, fail and then hell.

The rifle was slung over her right shoulder while her old Neuhausen strapped safely on her left thigh. The weapons weight was reminding Monica why was she even there, in the place she never visited before along with its foreign occupant. Nevertheless, it reeked of familiar feeling.

With only three steps behind squad leader, she could measure anyone who got too close to them. She looked again toward the squad leader’s back. For a human, he always seemed….off. She shook her head. Focus. and darted her gaze back to her surrounding, keeping watch of any irregularity. Occasionally, her gaze would dart back toward the squad leader and the Blacktide-clan guy.

She remembered when she was still a hatchling, under a thin layer of ice, looking toward the grayish sky, and watching the snow fell gradually. Inside the frozen ice coffin, an eternity passed in a second. Monica blinked. Focus, focus. She lose her concentration very easily today. A small frown had marred her face. Something always went wrong whenever she unfocused.

She gripped the strap of her rifle tighter.

Sync led his fellow Hunters through the palace quickly. They had to get to the room in which the document was being signed before anything could proceed, and besides, if something bad was in the works, it would get less time. As they walked briskly down a hallway, Sync turned a corner only to run into something hard and fall to the floor. He looked to see what it was before sighing slightly. "Princess Aria," he said, standing to offer a hand to a down, "shouldn't you be at the signing already?"

"Well, yes, but you weren't there yet Sync! My parents said I could run to find you." Before the group stood (or perhaps sat as of now) a pale, platinum blonde girl. Her hair was probably closer to white than it was to either silver or true blonde. She was wearing a pale blue dress, but she looked like she would have been happier and more casual clothes. She was Princess Aria Flanders of the Snow Dragon royal family.

"Princess, we were going as fast as we could without flat out running, okay? Now shall we go?"

She nodded, then motioned for them all to follow her as she ran down the hallways. Sync sighed and jogged to keep up with her. He wondered sometimes how she was a princess. Dismissing the thought he turned to the two with him. "Once we get there, make sure you are on high alert. I doubt something will happen, but better safe than sorry."

Thorn saw another dragon. Well, a dragon in his human form, who was coming this way. She didn't know if they were allowed to pass through or not. She didn't want to be out here in the freezing cold, getting snowed on and have her wings freeze off. She didn't even know if they even allowed to talk to these strangers. She didn't really care about them being intruders or not, she was just being selfish right now.

Thorn sounded the alarm, which was a loud earsplitting roar. That should probably get me suspended or... Oh, who cares! She thought to herself angrily. She spread her wings out a little as she let out another earsplitting roar. Her tail thumped against the frozen ground twice as she raised her head and sat down.

Jotunheim...
Despite the centuries that had passed it continued as Drexza remembered, tall, cold, full of tunnels and boring... extremely boring. Underground... a perfect defense against anyone not used to the extreme cold, a few minutes where the only thing needed to see an enemy fall, but where was the passion in that? Not like another city of her memories and it´s glorious ice palace, now that was a challenge.

In here... Drexza, in her glorious second year of renovated freedom, and some... "companions" not only were able to enter without any problem they also got an escort to guide them to the place were "the event of a life", as he stated, would happen not noticing how the group continue decreasing in numbers as they walked the tunnels and it was sad to see how easily a claw-wave and a small lie about guards were the only thing needed to reassure him before his leave.

And now partially alone and in first row, Drexza could only show a small fanged smile as she though of how many time it would take to the guards to realize that something was wrong. There were smells in the city that weren´t supposed to be there and of course she and her companions were included in that same category, well who cared at least she would be able to have her little fun.

Uther felt far too jumpy for such a simple job. A peace treaty were the representatives came fully armed was never a good sign. A thousand factors played against not only against him self and all the others and there wasn't much he could do to change them. Fortunately, those factors also happened to be a big jumble of 'what if's. There was the obvious danger of the Snow Dragon royal family saying no and simply slaughtering all the Hunters, even the dragons who stood next to them and with the size and strength your average snow dragon had, it'd be a blood bath. There was also the possibility of a betrayal. Some elaborate trap to take down the leading of one of the stronger dragon families and a handful of loosely affiliated dragons all in one blow. And he was stuck with the two people who could most likely do both. If this place wasn't so cold, he'd be sweating.

Deep breathes he though, gripping his katana's hilt tightly as he forced his eyes shut and took a few cleansing breathes as he walked. If every possible ambush happened, I'd have been dead a long time ago. Besides... His eyes wandered to the other two he was with. These two can't be too dangerous. The human Sinclair was still young no matter how old he claims to be. And the girl, Monica. He knew that her human form was very much deceiving and that she had a history with the Hunters but she seemed distracted. Not that Uther could blame her. He must have looked the exact same not only a minute earlier, if not worse. It was odd, though. She wasn't nervous, merely... uncomfortable? He couldn't imagine why considering this was the home of her people. Perhaps what he heard of her exploits were more truth than he though. Maybe it was just nerves. Maybe she was thinking the same thing he was.

On the other hand, the human didn't seem unnerved in the least bit. He was treating this like a walk through the park. Hunters entering dragon dens usually ended with death and not always to the prey in many cases. Even if what he said about his age was true, he was still young by human standards and he already had a certain position of power in the Hunter's organization. And there he was, leading on boldly wild the poor little dragons cowered along behind him. The moment Uther realized he was walking one step behind the Hunter, he picked up his pace and straightened his back up. Peace felt like it was dulling his edge. He'd lead squads of his own into open aerial combat against the traitors with AA fire raining around him and he didn't bat an eye. Why should a simple peace treaty unnerve him? Besides, the Hunter were thinking ahead. Patrols, sniper positions and armed escort. They knew their stuff, to say the least.

As Syn rounded the corner, the sound of him running into someone made Uther half draw his blade. The sound of a light female voice made him re-sheathe it in the blink of an eye. All doubts were wiped from his mind. Princess Aria. Hardly dangerous by any standard and her family would never let her run around without at least armed escort if they truly planned on betraying them. No clan would take such a risk as to leave the next generation in danger, especially one of royalty. Only half listening, Uther checked behind himself to make sure no one was following while subconsciously seeing if Monica was okay when he heard the sound of running. He snapped his head back towards the two who were now jogging away. Groaning quietly under his breathe, he hurries after them with his hand on his hilt.

At a jog, it only took a few minutes to get to the signing hall. It was a large room, obviously used from public addresses and the like. A table was placed in between a row of chairs, two on each side. Two of them were for the king and queen of the ice dragons. The other two were for the number two of the Hunters and his secretary. Sync was not happy that the second-in-command was the one here for a number of reasons. Firstly, he was afraid anyone other than the leader would be taken as an insult, which it wasn't. The commander of the Dragon Hunters was not in good health at the moment, and he was on retreat in America. Second, the man had absolutely no command skill. Sure, he had led many missions, but most of them were completed in spite of him, not because of him. He had heard that his physical skills were very good, but mental ones... not so much. Speaking mental skills, the last reason and most important was that this guy was a dragon hater. He thought he hid it, and honestly, he did hide it from most people. But Sync had seen the bastard sneering down at his dragon subordinates.

Sync, the hunters, and the princess all moved to the side as both sides of the treaty sat down. Sync was tuning out the words, but things seemed cordial. He scanned the crowd quickly, until a shock ran through him. He scanned the crowd again, but he couldn't find what had cause the shock. He had crossed eyes with a woman in the crowd, but she had disappeared into it. While he was looking, the world shook. Explosions echoed around outside as suddenly, the second-in-command and his secretary were moving. The secretary's hand moved from his hip toward the the king and queen as his boss dashed from his chair, grabbed the princess, and was out the door in a second. Two shots rang out; one from the secretary's gun toward the king, the other from Sync's own gun, straight through the secretary's hand. People in the crowd were shouting, while some just stood to throw their jackets or other pieces of clothing off submachine guns. Sync made a snap decision. He ran out the door after the commander, telling the two with him, "Make sure the king and queen stay safe!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outside the palace, things had been peaceful. At least until an explosion demolished a building in the square, followed by another and another in different places. Out of allyways, taverns, and tunnels came soldiers in full body suits an helmets with visors. Each uniform was blazed with the letters "MN" on their shoulders, and each soldier had some kind of weapon, be they assault rifles, rocket launchers, or just RPGs. They opened fire on civilians and hunters alike as many hunters got to cover and returned in kind. It looked like full scale war had erupted in the streets of Jotunheim.

Ron was just scanning the courtyard when it erupted. From seemingly everywhere in his sight guns were leaping into hands and people flooding into the courtyard. How the hell did all of these people get here? Or for that fact get their guns?

But Ron didn't say any of that instead he just left out a slightly awestruck "Sonuva..." He lowered his eye to the scope and adjusted slightly, and pulled the trigger. A plume of red erupted from a soldier's chest as he was emerging from an alley, and Ron swung his gun slightly. He racked back and heard the cartridge drop beside him. Suddenly, he remembered Charoi next to him. She was a newbie, although right now he didn't have much time to give many words. "Cha! Update sync, got large force, I'll stall as long as I can. I ain't getting all of em."

With a breath he racked the bolt forward and aquired his next target. Another alley, a ways away from the other one he had shot at earlier. He scoped in on the man and fired. Not a clean kill, the man dropped to the ground screaming. Good enough. He knew he couldn't kill all of these bastards, so he just had to make them think twice about moving forward any more.

He racked the bolt back and heard the ping of the cartridge hit the tiled roof. "Got binoculars in that bag of yours, kid? Call out targets as you see em' regardless." He just hoped she understood by target, he meant the guys with the big stuff or other snipers.

Charoi went from having an exciting first mission to a terrifying first mission. Sure, it was still exciting, just in the wrong way. This was supposed to be peaceful! Charoi thought. Then again, nothing turned out the way it was supposed to. When she was supposed to never find out she was a dragon, she did. When dragons were supposed to live really long, she wouldn't because of some stupid spell her parents had put on her.

Charoi jolted back to the present. Ron had asked for her to look for targets. She rummaged through her bag and found the binoculars she had packed last-minute. A shudder passed through her. She had just had a vision of a bullet hitting her, splattering her brains and making a rainbow of reds on the clean, white ice. No time for that now. She put the binoculars to her eyes and looked for people with sniper rifles and other big guns that weren't dragon hunters. "There. Behind that sculpture is a target." she said in a quivering voice.

Final stopped at the sudden hostility from the dragon in the group before him. He had been slowly making his way towards the three, trying his best to appear none threatening as he came closer, but apparently the dragon considered him a threat. Already his hopes for joining the Dragon Hunters were beginning to be dashed. Quickly, he raised his arms and showed his hands, revealing he was not armed.

"H-hey! I'm not attacking! I just want to talk!" he shouted franticly. He definatly didn't want to get in a fight against a few Dragon Hunters, since he wasn't a great fighter himself.

However, seconds later, the distant sounds of explosions reached his ears along with gun shots, which filled him with alarm. Someone was fighting someone, obviously, but why...

Of course! The treaty! Someone must be trying to keep the treaty from being signed! Instinctively, Final changed into his dragon form, the fin that stretched across his spine layed flat against his silver scales. With one last look at the other three, he raced back into the tunnel he came from into the courtyard, heading towards the sound of explosions and gun fire.

Thorn glared at Final but before she could say anything the sounds of guns and an explosion went off. She didn't move or speak, but her very vigilant like attitude was switched to over alert. She wasn't going to trust someone she barely met, and if they were a snow dragon then in no way was she going even bother helping them. Hello! This was where snow dragons lived and if things were bound to go wrong, then it would probably be a snow dragon. A dragon that doesn't want the treaty to be signed and just one dragon, could possibly mean a group of dragons. How could she knew if, Noah or Final wasn't one of those dragons.

"The treaty isn't being signed." Thorn stated to Jess, as she opened her wings only to clench her jaws. This place was cold and she wasn't even puffing smoke to keep herself warm. She didn't realize that until now. Trying to ignore the cold, she picked up Jess easily and held the human firmly using her two front paws. She wasn't going to put Jess on her back, but hold her as she flew over to Ron's position. no human alive, or dead has ever been on Thorn's back and she was going to keep it that way as long as she was alive. Using her tail a little, she launched herself into the freezing air currents tightening her hold on Jess.

The snow bit into Thorn's scales, quickly turning to ice and just making herself colder. The flight probably would have been easier and quicker for a snow dragon, but for Thorn it was not so quick. Every few yards, she'd have to breathe fire and fly through the flames just to keep herself from becoming an icicle. During those time, she would lower her head a bit, to keep the flames from burning Jess. Her tail was taking the worse of the cold, but she flew onwards almost to Ron's position.

Unfortunately, before Thorn could land and set Jess down, she was intercepted by a snow dragon. At least she thinks he was a snow dragon. He was just as big as her and of course had the advantage in a fight against an American dragon that wasn't really good at fighting in snow. Stubborn as she was, she wasn't going to engage in a fight with a passenger in her hands. He came from the left trying to tackle her out of the sky, quick as light Thorn pulled up but barely. She slowed down her speed for a moment but dove over the dragon and stopped quickly on the roof, she set Jess down.

Wham! Thorn felt herself get whacked by her adversary's icicle like club tail into her hind quaters. She lost her footing for awhile, but before she could even fall off the building the dragon was on her again. Thorn reacted instinctively trying to open her wings and try to wiggle out of his grasp. This was just a diversion though. They were tumbling through the air, falling downwards. She heaved forward barely dodging her opponent's jaws, and then they do some sort of role. She was on the dragon now with him on the bottom, so he would take most of the impact when they landed. Thorn knew she wasn't going to stick around for that and opened her wings to catch the air at the last minute. The snow dragon hit the ground, creating a snow cloud around himself. She snorted, smoke coming from her nostrils she flew upwards going back to Ron, Charoi and Jess.

Ron gave Charoi a quick "gotcha" before swiveling to the monument before sending his shot downrange. Clean hit and the target went down. He racked the bolt back, trying to think of what to say to a greenhorn. He wasn't exactly a motivational speaker. He scoped in for a second before he heard the beating of wings getting closer. He cocked his head to the side, confused and getting a better perspective of what was happening. He watched as one of the dragons from their side was tangling with a Snow Dragon. A losing fight for a dragon that wasn't part of the Hunters, Ron began to scope in, removing it from his thoughts to scope back in. The Hunter dragon had something in it's claws.

A Human, probably a Hunter. Why!? "What the hell are they doing?" Ron muttered as the paair continued toward hsi location.

THEN THEY BLOODY DROPPED SOMEONE OFF.

Ron's jaw gaped. " What the **** are you doing you oversized Lizard!?" Ron yelled out at the retreating figure. "Charo, grab your bag! Everybody and their brother knows we're here now! We need to MOVE before their snipers line us up!"

Ron lifted the gun, not bothering to grab any of his other tools from the ground next to him. Right now, he had to MOVE. That little hot dropoff had just telegraphed where they were to anyone in the area and he was damn sure snipers would be looking to pick off that Hunter the dragon was carrying.

Ron slung the gun around his arm, the bipod still down and ran over to the girl the dragon had dropped off. He grabbed her by the shoulder and yanked her up. "Charo! Get the hatch!" He yelled out.

Charoi scanned the ground for other enemies when she heard the flapping of wings. She looked up and saw one of the dragons on the same side she was on fighting an enemy one. Zooming in with her binoculars Charoi could tell that the dragon had a human in her claws, one whose name she recalled was Jess. The Hunter dragon disengaged long enough to place Jess on the ground nearby.

Then Ron started yelling about moving. She hurridly put her binoculars away and zipped her backpack up. She felt a little annoyed that Ron was calling her Charo, not Charoi, but now was definitely not the time to address that. He told her to "get the hatch." She assumed that meant to start getting away so she began running from the are with Ron.

"What are you doing?!" Jess screeched as the Dragon grabbed her and took off. There had been explosions, and soldiers were quickly destroying the square they had just been standing in. She quickly slid a metal handle out of her ash bag and into her hand forming a medium sized metal shield. As soon as it was formed a bullet glanced off it, momentarily Jess struggled against the hold of the Dragon as it carried her away but she soon realized it was futile and if she got out now she'd just fall, But she was wishing for a bullet proof vest, or at least dragon scales for protection right now.

Relieved, she noticed that Thorn was at least heading for a safer higher location so she could maybe strike down a few from a distance but her relief turned to distress as she saw their sniper and his partner on the roof. She hadn't even noticed them up there let alone the sudden enemy invasion, now everyone knew where they are.

With a thud she landed on the roof dropped by Thorn with an attitude as rude as her earlier reaction to the warming up by running idea. Making brief eye contact with Ron as he yanked her up was all she needed to see to know their cover had definitely been blown. Keeping her hand shield out she drew the bow string from her bag and revived the crossbow on her wrist with a small burst of flames it was snugly strapped into place on her arm and the actual bow portion of it was still folded into the unique device. X-Bow on her left arm and shield on her left, she was prepped to follow Ron since he seemed in control.

"Sorry I didn't expect that either, now let's get down there so we aren't easy pickings up here." She quickly informed Ron and Charoi. Her adrenaline was racing and the fire within her was raging she needed to let it out, and where better than in the center of the fray.

Drexza smiled at the situation before her. Attacking the city? Nice. Beginning the attack in the middle of the most important event? Good. Attacking the King? Better. Taking the princess away from all the guards saving her all the work? The best, even better due the fact that the betrayal was coming from the same group that was supposed to make sure everything was right.

As soon as the man disappeared from sight, Drexza ran away on her four claws through the same tunnel she had arrived following the only thing she could trust in that moment:her nose. Easier than she expected, while the smell from the humans´guns was starting to cover all the traces the "clean" smell from the princess was still easy to pick.

And at last after changing from tunnel to tunnel, roaring all the time as a hound pursuing a fox would do, Drexza was behind the man, that was having a hard time with the princess, ready to change the situation. With a little effort she increased her pace to reach the man, practically jumping to reach his side.

"Mind if I help you?"

The man only had enough time to turn his head before a huge claw hit him in the face, probably he would survive after all Drexza had use the impulse of the jump aiming at the neck; he... kinda had luck.

"Nah... you don´t mind"

After giving the man a last look of disdain Drexza turned to see the princess, who was in a worse state that she expected: fearful, a weak presence, almost crying and scared, very very scared. Seriously? This could be easier than she expect, blame her parents for sheltering her that much... Drexza show the small princess her usual smile, more a feral grin than a smile, before closing the distance between them.

"Ah my dear and small cousin. Who would tell it? Betrayed by the humans that were so eager to help us." The princess looked surprised, of course one would need to ignore a lot of things, like broods, time and other complicated stuff in dragon history to mark both dragons as family, also trusting that she was hated enough so her name would never be pronounced infront of the young one, maybe she was surprised by hearing the obvious, or maybe she was that confused in general "Don´t worry we are here to take you to safety. You know alternative plans? Well you dear dad and I have some differences, but when it comes to you we both know what to do. Take you out of here as you can hear... It is not safe." After another confused stare Drexza started to wave her tail as a dog would do "Oh don´t worry while it is not close is big, comfy, big and and... we can braid each other hair until all this calms down."

Not waiting for an answer Drexza turned to see two figures in dragged cloaks that stop casually at some steps of distance from them, although someone with enough knowledge would recognize synchronicity expected out of heavily trained soldiers, one of them got closer to Drexza, showing that it was a girl, as if she waited for something just giving a very significant look before turning at the princess.

"My guys here can take you to the place I mentioned... actually only the other one, the girl and I have to stay back and you know... cover your back. Decide what you want to do, but do it quickly... Ahhh yes if you decide to go back to your parents you will have to go back alone. Can´t help you there...you know business to do.. popcorn...just remember that humans can´t be trusted."

Again without waiting for an answer Drexza walked away been followed closely by the girl, stopping before the tunnel that the man had use to escape; with an annoyed sigh the dragon turned her head to the girl with a murderous glare.
" I started roaring like ten minutes ago, you were supposed to get the girl to avoid this act of... pity. Tell me that the other things are ready." They girl only nod and Drexza´s glare turned into a look of amusement. "Then you know what to do..."

After another nod the girl disappeared in one of the tunnels and Drexza crossed her arms hoping that her mook remembered that despite what the princess said he was supposed to take her away.... awaken or not.

Thorn didn't care about their cover being exposed. Right now she was just focusing on surviving this place and hopefully the humans would survive too. She ignored Ron, knowing she could bite his head off later for what he called her she took flight and dove for the ground. Her wings quickly getting iced she was barely able to flex them as she morphed into a human being. Naked, cold and trembling she ran behind a building to where she had stored some clothing someday before. Quickly dressing herself, she ran into the building where the treaty was supposed to be signed at. She was searching for Sync and the others. They needed to know there was a problem. A really bad problem they needed to get rid of.

Thorn rushed through the hallways following Sync's scent and the others when she turned a corner and froze. There was another scent here. It wasn't the regular scents of snow dragons but a fire dragon. A dragon the could breathe fire. Of course the smell wasn't was rushing toward her with a whole bunch of other smells. Thinking it was probably some hidden member of the DH she pushed it to the back of her mind and continued her search for Sync and his group.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Hey guys...

Sorry about the wait. I have had a lot of school work and stuff recently. so I really haven't had a great chance to post. Well, I don't think I will be able to post tonight, as I would have liked (Actually I tried to post last night, but went to sleep before that could happen)

But anyway. I will do my best to post tomorrow. And just letting you know I AM still here!

hope to see you around!

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Alright, I make sure we still go out to recruit you. Looks like we have one person to recruit, so lets get this thing over with and get a move on.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Halloo, sorry! I've only read the OOC today. >_<
I still am interested in this RP and would like Micco to be recruited! Please! :3

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Okay... So, it looks like the only surviving (named) hunters will be Sync, Charoi, Ron, and Thorn... I will get up a post tomorrow. Those who have died: I am sorry, but I think I have been more then fair. You have had a week or more to post, so I take your inactiveness as abandonment. To those who have yet to be recruited: PM or post here so that I know we need to still recruit you. If you do not respond by Wednesday or perhaps Thursday, I will not send anyone out to recruit you. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I need to be for the story to go on.

Agreed. Keep it going! Also we are ready to bring more... attempts of mischief. IN other news Im about to start a new job as a entertainer (using dogs Fu.k Yeah) with some friends. So don´t worry if I only appear to post in the dawns. XD

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Yeah, I want this to keep going as well. So I guess as of monday it is just the five of us.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

I... er... I mean Thorn wants to live!!! :D

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Yeah, I have to agree with light here. If you want to live through Jotunheim (as in you want to keep playing), say it here before or via PM the end of tomorrow. And to those who have yet to be recruited, just tell me here or in PM if you are still interested in the game so we don't have go recruit people who aren't there. I will post on Monday to keep things moving.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Hey there, Can I just take a headcount so we aren't waiting for people that are no longer posting?

So far people I know are sticking around right now:

Chari
Me
ShatteredMind
Furry Dragon
BlueWind_22

Anyone else trying to make a post, or should we wait for?

If not then I propose we make the abandoned characters KIA, to help us along, and not to have to worry with them being NPCs.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

For the first time in a long time I was not extremely busy with my life to post. I was waiting for the other to post as I already had my 15 sec of glory. XD
To thing of something more interesting according to the reactions before implementing the evil plan. An evil plan that I will have to short very much if things continues like this.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Look, guys, if you don't want to post, just say so. I will post tomorrow so that this hopefully doesn't die. To those of you who have posted or at least told me why you can't, thank you.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Yeah, I see no one is posting. Is that because you don't want to control minor NPCs or something? You can kill as many of the attacking dragons and humans as you want. If you guys still don't like that, I will take direct control of them instead so anything you have to do is basically purely reactionary.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Okay, great! The Jotunheim arc is winding down, so hopefully we can work on getting some recruits.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

HALLO~ Gawd, you don't know how badly I want to join in!! XD Just came to tell y'all that I'm still here and waitn'! :L

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Sorry life happened... and clowns, circus, small nieces... meh you know the drill. At least all is ready to phase 4.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Alright, then I will post later if Thorn doesn't. That is the last person I was waiting for the reaction from.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Alright, if the two people who were with me don't post today, I will post tomorrow. Those who are just fighting are welcome to keep doing so for now.

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

O.o the new character feature's rly cool! (I don't know what it does exactly but it seems convenient)

I didn't come on for a week and I thought I was going to be ridiculously far behind, guess I was wrong ^.^

Sorry I disappeared... life always seems to pick up as soon as I join a roleplay -.-'

Re: [OOC] Dragon Hunters: Reloaded

Sorry for the long time for the first post! Irl aggro. v.v' Anyways, I've obviously posted as you can see from the huge wall of text. I'm not usually this mouthy but since I missed the first time I -should- have posted, had to do catchup. But it got done and hopefully there are no hard feelings! :D
