History

Recorded History: Diao Chan was one of the “Four Beauties“ in ancient China together with Xishi, Yang Guifei and Wang Zhaojun. Legend has it that when Diao Chan paid offerings to the moon at midnight, Chang'e (the Chinese Moon Goddess) hurried to hide in clouds, for this beautiful lady made her feel inferior. The phrase “outshines the moon“ in the beauty-describing idiom “Beauty which outshines the moon and shames the flowers“ has Diao Chan as the very subject.

Diao Chan is a singing girl in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. In order to alienate Dong Zhuo (a tyrannical warlord) from Lu Bu (Dong Zhuo’s adopted son), Diao Chan took upon herself to implement interlinked badger games, regardless of her own happiness. Under her effort, Dong Zhuo was killed by Lu Bu, thus contributing to the emerging of the outstanding heroes: Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Quan, etc.

Records on Diao Chan are scarcely found in history. Most of narrations about her were given in unofficial history books and other literary works. According to scholars’ textual research, Diao Chan was living in Muzhi Village in Xinzhou, Shaanxi Province. In the village still stands a stele written with “Diao Chan’s Hometown“ as well as her tomb and temple. They were built for commemoration of this respectable woman who sacrificed herself for the country.

On the pretext on how she died, there were many rumors about it, Some said that she was killed by Dong Zhuo's followers along with Wang Yun after Lü Bu escaped while others claimed that she followed Lü Bu while he roamed the land with his army until he seized Puyang from Cao Cao. In some other mouths, Diao Chan was killed along with Lü Bu after the latter was defeated by Cao Cao and Liu Bei's forces at the Battle of Xiapi.

The other rumors tell that Diao Chan was captured by Cao Cao after the Battle of Xiapi and he presented her to Guan Yu, hoping to win Guan's loyalty towards him. Guan Yu suspected that he was being tricked when he recalled how Diao Chan had betrayed Lü Bu and Dong Zhuo earlier. Guan killed her to prevent her from doing further harm. In another version of the story, Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei all wanted to marry Diao Chan and they argued bitterly over the issue. Guan killed her to end the dispute.

In one Yuan Dynasty play, Diao Chan is introduced to Guan Yu by Zhang Fei after Lü Bu's death. Instead of accepting her as the spoils of war, Guan decapitates her with his sword. In another tale, Guan Yu did meet Diao Chan but he let her become a nun instead. When Cao Cao heard that, he wanted to take Diao Chan for himself and Diao Chan committed suicide when she heard that.

Present Life: Calleigh had always been fascinated with the concept of music, thus she had developed a certain skill in playing the Cello and Flute. She was praised for her musical ability at the age 4 and as well her singing voice had been discovered. It seemed she had inherited this due to the soul inhabiting her body. Although at that time, she had no idea of her said destiny. She simply liked music and the history of the Ancient China that tells the tales of various heroes such as Cao Cao, Sun Ce, and many more. Moreover, she was truly interested in one of the prominent female characters named Diao Chan die to the mystery of her life that were only build up with certain speculations.

Soon enough, at the age of 8 she had been plagued with various memories about events regarding about Dong Zhou, Wang Yun and Lu Bu in the past that she had no idea about. In addition, she had always seen her vision being clouded in the sea of fire as the heat scorched her body. She had spoken about this to her family and she had been concluded to bear the soul of Diao Chan. Surprised filled her nevertheless, she did not want to accept the fact that her fate would be the same as Diao Chan. Does, she wanted to change it for the sake of creating her own future and not some history that would be repeated again especially when she knew the truth of her death. In addition, she never wants to betray her older brother who harbors the soul of Dong Zhou.

NPC

Name: Christian Dunweir

Age: 18 Years Old

Hero's Name: Dong Zhou

Nation/School: Hu Lao High

Personality: Christian is composed, receptive, analytical, and prefers not to engage in combat unless needed to. He is content on silently observing both parties until the fighting reaches its conclusion, and actually fights only when he is challenged and attacked by an opponent Furthermore, he is a very cold, dispassionate figure, and indifferent, willing to harm both his comrades and enemies should they ever get in his way maybe except towards his sister which he shows leniency. Christian is fully capable of committing truly abhorrent and inhumane actions without feeling any shred of remorse or hesitation. Despite this, he is not particularly violent, unlike a historic counterpart, and will only fight when provoked. His cold demeanor allows him to stay completely calm and in control in most situations, and he is not easy surprised or caught off-guard.

Main Weapon: Christian had always liked handling swords and had proven great talent towards it. Soon enough, he gained exemplary skills in sword-fighting. In addition to that, he had inherited the actual sword of Dong Zhou named "Horror" that further cemented his destiny as the Tyrant that would be kill by betrayal.

Relationship: The one who carries the soul of Dong Zhou who had been seduced by Diao Chan's beauty and in turn lead him to his inevitable death at the hands of Lu Bu. It seemed that fate was ironic for they were born under the same family as siblings. Currently, he is taking academic lessons in Hu Lao High. It seemed very ironic for him to study there along with his sister Calleigh. He is the leader of the said school and is seen to be a tyrant by fellow students there. It seemed he is following his destiny however, he had always implied that he was going to change it without fail.
