Factions, Families, Clans, and Empires
Kael is around 5'8" tall, of slightly muscular build, he had medium length black hair, and dark eyes. He wore your every day clothing, black and grey colors usually, he would have fit in to the goth crowd in his younger years, had he actually attended much public schooling. He was decently attractive and not very imposing. Most people would just pass him by.
Kael was a quiet, calm and methodical person. He wasn't the provocative type. He had a sense of humor though, and liked to laugh, and could often be sarcastic and dry. He was a very logical and no nonsense kind of person, able to think on his toes.
Remington ACR 5.56mm

Kael was born in the north eastern regions of Utah. His family was the live off the land, work until you drop kind of folk. Not alot of money, and not alot of use for technology. That didn't stop Kael from becoming familier with it, he was taught by his father, along with his two sisters from a very early age to hunt, gather; and live off the land. He learned how to use a rifle, and other tools from not long after he started to walk.
His childhood was fairly uneventful, he had few friends; but he was close with his family. His Sisters were significantly younger than he, but they spent alot of time together. He was homeschooled, by his mother, and was a fairly intelligent young man. He loved to read, and he loved to write. But he began to feel restless. He didn't want to spend the rest of his life at home.
So when he was 19 years old, he enlisted in the Army National Guard. He enlisted for a period of 4 years, and saw action in Iraq, and Afganistan. He was a trained Tracker, and a Hunter. The Army made use of his skills. The little farm boy from Utah, was thrust in to a world he bearly understood.
It wasn't long after he got back state side, that things went to hell. He was stepping off the plane when the meteor struck. he was watching the news, when the TV's shut off. It took only days for the virus to spread world wide.
He had hurried home, to his little abode in Utah. His family was dead, sleeping in their beds, they likely had no idea that something had happened. He had dropped to his knees, and wailed. Burying his face in to his youngest sister. The 9 year old girl lie still. He clutched her body to him, cursing whatever god or otherwise listened. He didn't notice her beginning to stir.
That's when it happened, he heard the faint, unearthly moan from her. First he thought that she had been alive, he almost leaped for joy, but when her dead eyes snapped open, he could tell something was wrong. She lunged at his face snarling, only his quick reflexes saved him, as he put his arm up infront of him, to block her advance. She bit in to his hand, however the tactical gloves he was wearing, had banded kevlar inside of them. And Despite the dodgy protection it offered, a 9 year old girl's biting power was not enough to bite through them. He shoved her away as she tumbled off the bed on to the floor.
He cried, and pleaded unsuccessfully with the ghoul, begged his sister to stop. She crawled back to her feet and came to lunge at him again, he knocked her to the ground, once more, and pinned her from behind, still trying to beg her to stop.
All of a suddan the door burst open, and his father; also a ghoul came lunging at him. He backed against the wall. Pleading for his family to stop. Then the glass from the window next to him exploded, and his father dropped to the ground, his head blown open. It seemed like an eternity, but a second shot followed and obliterated his sister's skull, he yelled in a rage turning to the window. Ready to kill whomever had killed his family.
It was the military, the pulled him from the window, and on to the ground, their guns drawn on to his face. they checked him thoroughly, and let him go. They Torched his house, and sent him on his way. He was no longer part of the National Guard, he could not go with them.
He gathered his supplies and took off trying to find out what had happened, why his family had died; and why his sister and father had came back, and tried to kill him. Weeks passed, as he made his way through the rockies.
The first time he came across civilization, he realized just how fucked things had become.
Kael Wrynn made it in to L-Town one of the few refugee's filtering in lately. He passed through the quarantine check, with relative ease, his military backround ushered him through the checkpoint. He was thoroughly examined via a doctor. He had his battle rifle strapped around his neck and shoulder, holding it at a downward angle against his chest. The things he had seen over the last few weeks had nearly driven him insane. He was quiet and reserved. They told him to head to the mall first.
He moved quietly, he was not naive enough anymore to beleive ANYTHING was safe. his rifle was brought up to his shoulder, as he advanced towards the entrance ot the mall.
He moved up to the corpses, pulling his tracker knife, he made sure to ensure each corpse was really dead, he scowled at the desecration of the bodies, he moved to enter in to the hole. trying to be as quiet as he could.
He hurried to his feet and did an immediate surroundings check, checking his vectors. His rifle was brought back up to the ready, as he listened to try and discern the situation, he hurried towards the sound of the gunfire.
He rounded the corner, coming behind the girl, and the zombies. He quickly assessed the situation, he drew a bead on the back of the head holding the girl, at the angle and height of the zombie, she was at a less likely trajectory to be hit by the round penetrating, he pulled the trigger sending a single 5.56mm round expertly in to the back of the skull of the zombie. Even if he had missed, and accidently hit the girl, he would have been doing her a favor.. he knew the result of being bit.
He knelt down on to one knee, to steady his shots, he began a methodical killing pattern. Taking deliberate aimed steady shots, he started to take them down one by one; of course starting with the one that had taken the place of the first zombie, attacking the girl. "Run towards me!" He yelled, battle trained reflexes and the cold steely demeanor of a soldier that had seen just a little too much. He was almost desperate to save this girl; save her like he had failed to save his family. His right hand firmly holding on to the foward grip of the rifle, he began to take them down.
Kael Wrynn he caught a brief glance at her face, and he stared for only a second. She was gorgeous, but that was forgotten quickly as he reached out to grab her hand, and the both of them to sprint to safety.
When they entered the room, he dropped his gun to the ground, and then he was nearly tackled by the girl as she slammed in to him, he wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her close to him. His heart was going about a million miles an hour, both of them caught up in a moment of affection, due to surviving this nightmarish incident. "...Are you okay?" he inquired, curiously checking for any bites or scratches.
He let her go, and followed her to the back room, concerned by her silence. He let him self smile for just a second, upon seeing some of the modern luxeries he had missed for the last while.
He took the food from her earnestly, cold soda, finally cold soda. he took a glance at her. "My name is Kael" he said simply, moving closer to her
Kael Wrynn sat down to eat his small meal, lying his bag down on the table. he downed the soda fairly fast, it had been weeks since he had found one; much less a cold one. The power in most places were out, only a few cities atleast where he had come through had any form of power. He opened his pack, glancing at the contents inside. a variety of medical supplies, deer jerky, and ammunition boxes. Also were the contents to create a bow, and arrows, his previous history of being a tracker had come in handy surviving on his own. "..Are you unable to speak?" he nonchalantly mentioned, he was downright curious about her. He guessed she was mute, but he wasn't sure.. after the things he had seen, he didn't feel like talking much either.
Kael Wrynn shrugged slightly at her lack of response, he wasn't put out though. He had seen the hell she had been going through. He picked up the sandwich and turned to look at her. "Thank you.." he said politely. He ate the sandwich rather quickly, possibly a habit from his time with the armed forces, or possibly just because he was hungry. He sat there quietly for a second, before turning to look at her once more.. he turned back to his pack pulling a few peices of deer jerky. He stood up and walked over to the cot, and sat down next to her. "..Here eat this.." Survival took alot of calories, they say the average man when trapped on a deserted island, or some other strenuous situation could burn up to 4000 calories a day. "If you don't get more food, you could get sick" he mentioned, concern in his voice.
He gave a soft chuckle, "I see your apple, i'm just saying you should keep your energy up." He already was planning in case of the worst case scenario, and they had to escape. "If we ever have to leave this place, you'll need the calories." He cocked a grin at her, offering the dried meat again. He had quite a bit in his pack, and he was capible of providing food from the land for himself. "What's your name?" he inquired, he didn't know what to call her; he felt it would be rude to refer to her as 'you' or 'girl'.
Kael Wrynn nodded reassuredly at her as she took the food. he than watched her stand up, and start writing on her hand. when she sat down next to him, he looked over, reading what was on her hand. "Kazumi eh?.." he mused. He held his hand out to her gently, and grinned "Cute name." he responded. After weeks of hiding in the woods, and making his way through ruined metropolises such as Denver, he was rather pleased to have found another living being.
Kael Wrynn shook her hand softly, he could only imagine the trauma she went through, he wasn't there to witness the deaths of his family; but he was unfortunate enough to have seen the end result. He released her hand, and looked forward. In another world, and in different circumstances, he might have been uncomfortable, and nervous being locked alone in a room with a girl as cute as this, however that world was gone.. and he was just thankful to be able to talk to someone, that actually existed. He had thought the horrors of war had been terrible, boy had he been wrong on that one. Atleast the dead there, had stayed dead.
Kael Wrynn got off the cot, and watched as Kazumi moved over to shut off the lights, it took several seconds for his eyes to start to be able to see in the dark, as she started to crawl back towards him, he held his hand out for her to grab on to, one so he could pull her closer and ask her what was going on, and two so that he didn't lose her. He moved his hand to his side, to rest it on his 9mm handgun.
Kael Wrynn pulled her up, and hand on to her hand. when he heard her moan he moved his arm around her to keep her close to him, he could almost feel the fear coming off of her. "It's okay.." he whispered quietly. He watched in the direction of the door. moving his other hand down to unsnap the buckle from his holster. placing his hands around the grip of the gun.
Kael Wrynn scowled slightly removing his gun from it's holster, he slid his hand up and down her arm, still murmuring words of reassurance to her. In the dark they would have the advantage, if he had his battle rifle, even more so, but he doubted he would be able to get up and move with Kazumi so tightly clung to his side. He looked around the room, for what he could see for another exit, or cover.
Kael Wrynn Glanced up to the ventilation grate she was opening, he stood up moving to his bag and his Combat Rifle. He holstered his handgun, and slung the rifle up around his shoulder. he turned the safety off, and put it on fully automatic. he moved back to the wall placing his bag in to the vent so that Kazumi could grab it, sans a couple of clips, which he placed in his belt. He wasn't sure if he would fit in the ventilation grate, he couldn't really see it. "Kazumi.. run!" he whispered harshly.
Kael Wrynn looked up at her confused.. he shrugged then and jumped up in to the cot, to join her up in the ventilation shaft. He was reasonably confident that he could have held them off, they had no idea he was in here, and the second they opened the door he would have sprayed it with assault rifle fire. But he understood Kazumi's fear, maybe she thought she'd be left alone again. He was a former recon scout in the army, he knew when to retreat from a fight. He climbed up in the shaft, and replaced the grate.
Kael Wrynn quickly followed Kazumi out of the ventilation shaft, landing a bit more gracefully, as he dropped down with his bag and equipment, he could hear them through the vent screaming about not finding the girl. He glanced back towards the vent and shook his head. "Kazumi who were those guys?" he inquired to her? So it wasn't just the zombies that he had to worry about, people were still as stupid as they had been, basically all of civilization had collapsed. He was now even more so on guard.
Kael Wrynn he hopped out of the pellet bin, and on to the floor, he then reached back to grab her and help her get out of the bin herself. When she didn't answer him he didn't give much of a reaction, he was starting to get used to it. his deductive skills were pretty reasonable, when she tried to communicate, she never tried to use ASL, she clearly was not deaf or mute, atleast she wasn't. So that left him to beleive it was a psychological block causing her silence. he chuckled when she murmured. He could hear the inflection of gear in her moan. "Don't worry, I won't let anyone hurt you, Kazumi.
Kael Wrynn pulled up the rifle aiming it at the door groaning slightly at their complete LACK of luck. "I'm sick of running from these bastards.." He was ready to take them all done, but he heard arguing outside of the door. he could hear the death moans of the approaching horde, man he hated zombies. He was getting angry, life made no more sense, the dead didn't stay dead, and the world had pretty much imploded, yet these kind of scum still tried to pray on the remaining elements of humanity. "Kazumi.. hide, don't let them see you." He told her. He didn't want her in the line of fire, if they managed to get through the door.
He looked over towards Kazumi as she was tugging his arm, pulling him towards the bin of styrofoam. He willingly followed her after only a bit of minute resistance. Sighing a bit he headed towards the bin with her. "still keeping his rifle pointed towards the door. and one arm around Kazumi's which she was leading him by. Once they got to it, he turned to her again "I'm not going to abandon you.." he tried to reassure her, he had no plans of going out in a blaze of glory, he was pretty damn set on living. And now that he had found as she had one of the few decent human beings left, he wasn't ready to just go out and end it all. His family would not have wanted it either.
