Geoffrey Davidson Cromwell
{ AGE }
34 (Although he's more like 234)
{ PROFESSION }
Chosen Defender of the Universe
{ FACE CLAIM }
Henry Cavill
Doctor Infinity is rather tall, and was created that way to force fear into his enemies and opponents, but Geoffrey Cromwell is around 6'1", and so the spirit of Doctor Infinity has taken that height to suit his new surroundings and to be able to blend in with normal civilian life.
{ WEIGHT }
With a body size of a superior athlete and the muscle density of a professional bodybuilder, all of these gifted to Geoffrey Cromwell when he was chosen to become Doctor Infinity, he currently weighs around 220lbs, most of which is muscle and flesh and hardly any fat, although there is some because of his healthy diet.
{ SCARS }
Doctor Infinity has no scars that can be seen, because most of his scars are stored in his mind. With all of the memories of the various Doctor Infinities in his brain, Geoffrey Cromwell has felt the pain, grief and sorrow that many of the others have felt, most of which were caused by their inability to save someone who they thought needed to be saved.
After many centuries of traveling the universe and explored what lies beyond in the darkest reaches of the galaxy, Doctor Infinity has gathered a collection of many things that he likes, although most of them are not found on Earth. But Doctor Infinity's greatest love is the Planet Earth. Ever since Geoffrey Cromwell took over the mantle of Doctor Infinity from his predecessor, he was be teaching the mind of Doctor Infinity to love Earth and the humans that live on it, and to protect them above everything else in the universe. He is also a lover of peace and knowledge, for it allows him to reflect on his past deeds and to better himself to make sure that the mistakes that he made would never happen again.
{ DISLIKES }
Doctor Infinity is the Sworn Defender of the Universe, a title gifted to him by the Gods that made the Universe. It is his role to root out evil in all of its forms and put it to the sword, so that the Universe can be a truly peaceful and safer place. In order to do that, Doctor Infinity knows that he must remove the seven deadly sins from the Universe, but so far he is unable to find them. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride are found in all forms across the galaxy, and make people who would be friendly and peaceful into war-mongering demons that have to be stopped, and yet Doctor Infinity does not know why. It pains him to so others suffer, and it makes him a more determined and focused entity when he does see it.
{ FEARS }
Doctor Infinity was also created with a single fear, Atychiphobia. Atychiphobia is the abnormal, unwarranted, and persistent fear of failure. As he is the Sworn Defender of the Universe, the feeling of failing in his duty and being unable to bring peace to the Universe weighs heavily down on his conscience. But because Doctor Infinity is afflicted with such a heavy form of Atychiphobia, he considers the possibility of failure so intense that they choose not to take the risk. In fact, some of the Doctor Infinities before Geoffrey Cromwell have subconsciously undermined their own efforts so that they no longer have to continue to try, causing them to fail in their role and be stripped of the title of Doctor Infinity.
Doctor Infinity is normally a kind and gentle man who has love and respect for all walks of life. He is also quite wise and does love to share his wisdom with those who care to listen. Yet, despite his kindly and sociable nature, the man is often alone and keeps a stoic vigil over the entirety of the Universe. The tenants of his job commands this and he follows it to the letter. All the while he remains content and does not seek society even though he often watches it. Sometimes he does feel a longing to be apart of the Universe, beyond just it's protector, and is often ecstatic to be sent away for a mission. Even though he is told to route out whatever Evil may fester, he often distracts himself with mingling with the people of the Universe.
When faced with his task, he is a determined and courageous individual. Often clever and calm, he approaches most problems critically and thoughtfully. Much like a doctor he is thorough, intelligent, and surgically precise. He despises those that are Evil, often unable to understand their motives or desires despite his knowledge and wisdom. It's as if they take rather basic and understandable hopes and dreams and distort them and alter them into something completely alien and malicious. He faces down such foes with resolution and willpower.
Doctor Infinity is quite sensitive to the woes of others. Often feeling pain himself when sympathetically listening in on the troubles that many people face. It is often his dream to make existence a beautiful and a worthwhile place, much like how the afterlife is depicted to be. He hates killing any life, but will do so at the heed of the Council, which often picks the most dangerous and most terrible threat to the balance of the Universe. This often interrupts the perceptions of his own feelings, which are often filled with sadness and anguish. Not for the life that was chosen for him, but how he can't seem to give it up.
The history of Geoffrey Cromwell is short but Doctor Infinity's is not. The first Doctor Infinity was simply known as The Infinite One, an entity crafted by the Council of the First, made entirely of the powerful and cosmic force known as Mana. Its power was magnificent as it wielded the wily energy with ease. Seeing the Universe as largely chaotic, the Infinite One was sent to protect and bring peace to all. Yet it became abundantly clear that The Infinite One was ineffective at combat. Being incorporeal it could not physically harm another living thing, it had all the power in the Universe but was unable to use it. That was when The Infinite One chose a worthy vessel to host it's tremendous power. The Council of the First witnessed this and sought to use this method of transference ever since.
A host was not made immortal and could still be killed. Many have died being the Infinite One but one host decided to relinquish the title instead. The Host and the Infinity Soul were one with each other and therefor made their own decisions. Often an Infinite One would search the Universe for a worthy successor when the Host feels ready to retire. Then that successor carries on the mantle and this process has been going on ever since. As for the Human, Geoffrey Davidson Cromwell, he would be known as the first ever, Human Doctor Infinity. Geoffrey Davidson Cromwell, was born in 1781 to a small family of four. His father Wallace Cromwell was a veteran from the American Revolutionary War and his mother was a simple home maker. He had two older brothers, the eldest grew up during the War and the second eldest was born right after the end. He lived a comfortable existence helping as a farmhand until he moved out on his own. He wanted to go to school and worked and saved up money to afford such a privilege. He was quite intuitive and absorbed knowledge very quickly, he wished to become a doctor, but then came the War of 1812. Both his Brothers entered the War and so did he.
Geoffrey was consigned and was used as a medic thanks to his medical knowledge. He helped to ease the many soldiers dying out on the field during the British Invasion. He unfortunately lost his Eldest Brother during the conflict. A few months after the war, Geoffrey opened up his own clinic of sorts in town. He didn't have many patients but only one was needed to change his life forever. On the way back home late at night, Geoffrey took his old familiar route through the woods when he encountered an injured man. Well at first he thought it was an injured man, but upon closer inspection it was a strange creature dressed in strange robes. Geoffrey wasn't sure if it was a man or beast but it attempted to speak at him. It made sounds but nothing Geoffrey could understand but it sounded injured. Being the good-natured spirit he was, he carried the being back to his clinic and attempt to heal him. He quickly realized from the wound it had, he could not save it but he sure damned tried. The being noticed this and understand it's own mortality took Geoffrey's hand. For that singluar instance Geoffrey understood the next words it spoke. It sounded like some inauguration by the wording of it, soon he felt a great power beginning to surge with him and all of a sudden a flood of memories entered his mind. He could see what life this creature had, he was of another world beyond Earth, his name was Kan-Asja and he was the 128th Doctor Infinity.
Soon the clothing Kan wore disappeared as his own clothing changed into something that looked like Merlin would wear. Upon Geoffrey's body the Infinity Soul made him the 129th Doctor Infinity. From the memory transfer he realized he was chosen to become the new defender of the Universe and work for a mysterious group known as the Council of the First. He was spirited away to an unknown place and brought before the Council. They introduced themselves as the first race to gain sentience in the Universe. There race has all but been extinguished over time, the council where the last survivors of a dreadful war. He was both shocked and confused as everything rushed far too quickly for his liking, he needed to time to process and the Council, although confused themselves over his request, granted him it. With some understanding his brain was able to wrap around this sudden change. Although he was unsure if he was the right choice to wield such supernatural power. The Council was uncertain themselves, fearing that a Human could not handle such knowledge and power, being far too primitive. Yet the first hosts were primitive as well but had learned to use this power. The Council did it's best to reassure the fledgling Doctor, but it would take practice and experience before he eased into his role. He was uncommonly accepting of this fact and even felt honored to be charged with such responsibility. He has seen the horrors of war and strife, being this Doctor Infinity, he can help more people everywhere than he ever hoped he could as a normal man. The rest as they say was history.
Magic: Being what you may call a Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Infinity has access to a wide array of spells and powers. This is mainly thanks to the Infinity Soul, the source of all his powers. The Infinity Soul was made from and directly connected to a mysterious cosmic force known as Mana. Being Doctor Infinity, he can manipulate this esoteric force for a number of uses, both defensively and offensively. Such as creating force fields, energy-based constructs, energy projections, and concussive blasts.
Doctor Infinity also makes use of spells, incantations and rites that expends Mana to use for a variety of different effects. Such as Elemental Manipulation, Transmutation of Matter, Illusions, Levitation/Flight, Invisibility, Intangibility, Teleportation, and some degree of Mind Control. Then he has the use of a variety of Paraphernalia, the most obvious and most used is the Infinity Rod. A long staff adored with mystical ornaments that allow for easier use of Mana, channeling and empowering spells. His next and perhaps greatest object he uses is the Augury. A pool of the purest water that allows Doctor Infinity to scry the known Universe for threats. It also acts beyond Doctor Infinity, often showing him omens of the Future. He may also use it to consult the Past or with the Council of the First. Then there is the Infinity Hat, more than just a piece of his costume, the Infinity Hat has access to a pocket dimension which Doctor Infinity uses for storage. When in need he may scrounge around in his Hat for various Tomes of Power or mystical artifacts.
{ STRENGTHS }
His greatest strength is his purity of heart and powers of empathy. He is a kind and caring individual whose believe in holding all life precious, leaves him willing to defend it against the most wicked of forces. Even to the point of sacrificing his life. Such devotion and conviction is hard to combat.
{ WEAKNESSES }
His greatest strengths however are his greatest weaknesses. His kindheartedness is easy to exploit at times, especially if Doctor Infinity believes he can save someone's life even if they lived a wicked life. He believes heavily in rehabilitation and reform instead of outright killing his foes. His desperateness to save lives leaves him at a disadvantage when enemies hold hostages or use their own vulnerability to twist at his heartstrings.
His other weaknesses is the source of his powers. The Infinity Soul may have infinite power but the body that hosts it does not. Mana comes with a toll for using it and any body, no matter how strong or durable, cannot withstand the fatigue that spellcasting brings. There is a tax on the body every time Doctor Infinity uses Mana since flesh and bones can hardly tolerate such an immensely powerful cosmic force. The Infinity Soul helps to give it's host a tolerance to it, more so than any other thing can possibly offer, but it is limited. If he pushes himself beyond the threshold of tolerance, it can mean death. Magical Objects do help to increase a resistance to Mana Drain allowing for more spellcasting, especially the Infinity Rod. Without the Infinity Rod, he can still cast all of the spells he has learned but at a greater cost and for less effectiveness.
