Introduction
The land of Cyrodiil has fallen into civil war. Beginning with attacks on trade caravans moving between the Imperial City and the outlying provinces, the land has been thrown into upheaval and chaos, with the counts and countesses of each major city pointing the finger at one another. Battles began to rage across the countryside, leaving countless homes and property destroyed, and dozens upon dozens of people dead, both civilian and military. The major guilds - Thieves, Mages, and Fighters - have chosen to stay neutral in the political conflicts, choosing rather to move their major branches and guild halls into the outlying wilderness, sequestering themselves in caves, ruins, and abandoned temples.
Chancellor Ocato, now with operations based out of the Castle in the Imperial City, has remained idly neutral and unwilling to act during this time of war, and the citizens of the land began to lose faith in him as a leader. In addition to the civil wars raging between the cities, rebellions began to pop up everywhere against the Imperial Legion and everything it stood for. In order to preserve his safety and seat of power, the Chancellor contacted the church for support.
The church, now a powerful force in it's own right, decided to ally itself with Chancellor Ocato. The high priestess of the chapel of Julianos in Skingrad, a Breton named Ariana Vamalga, has become the defacto leader, and has made it clear that her loyalties lie completely with the Chancellor. Many were outraged at this show of support, and rebellions began against the local chapels in a show of resistance. The Blades, now operated solely by the church and lead by Brother Jauffre, have become something of an enforcement agency, hunting and killing any and all who oppose the church and the Chancellor.
Rumors abound that Chancellor Ocato, a great wizard in his own right, has been secretly contacting the Dark Brotherhood, another foreboding fact in this time of turmoil. Who will stand up to restore Cyrodiil, and who will be able to uncover the mysterious and sinister plans of the Chancellor? We must all pray to the Nine that peace will return soon...
Rules
1. Have a basic knowledge of the land of Cyrodiil (not necessarily all of Tamriel). This is the setting for the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion video game. If you don't, that's OK - the world of Tamriel is based largely in a medieval fantasy setting, so creatively is merited (and desired). However, at least try to make use of the resources provided.
2. Follow all the rules and guidelines expected of you by Roleplay Gateway.
3. Maintain an environment that encourages camaraderie and creativity.
