You are a god, your mission is to amass belief and erode the support of the other gods. Death is coming for all and only the strongest of the gods can defeat it and rule the pantheon. Become the strongest and gain dominion over hearts and minds!

1,442 readers have visited Elemental Wrath: Rise of the Gods since defiante1 created it.

Introduction

You were once one of the mighty gods that ruled over the earth, a blissful Eden where your followers worshipped you and made you strong. You lived in an uneasy peace with the other gods who each had their own followers. However things could not stay so balanced, a new god rose up and challenged the order of things. The god of death, those who weren't sacrificed were killed in the wake of blood and terror he unleashed. He decimated all your follows and your power faded, one by one the other gods fell into the void with no one to sustain them until just four remained. The elementals, a god for each of the basic world elements. You are one of these. You cannot be fully destroyed for without you the world would cease to be, however with no more followers you have faded greatly.

With nothing more to feed on the death god slumbers, deep in the core of the world and waits for life to return so he can once again feast. His power is so great now that it would take a might force to stop him. You will have to be that mighty force, when the death god finally returns and life is once more rich on the planet he shall harvest again. You must gather your power, take it from the other gods if need be and conquer death itself!

You have ten thousand years to amass enough belief to face Death, the gods will have to unite by then or ruin will face them once more. However whose banner they unite under shall be decided by the strongest, will it be you ? Let us see...

Toggle Rules

This is not like a normal RP, you play as a god and not a character therefor the normal social interactions of characters don't exist in this. Instead you play one of the four main gods, each one based around an elemental.

Earth, Fire, Water, Air.

You must choose if your god has physical form or not, advantages to either. A form gives you some way to interact but it can be killed, you will lose power and belief if it is.

They are the four main spots for players although more may be opened up if people request to a max of 6 gods in total.

The two extra slots for late players by request only are: Light god and Beast god.

The idea of the RP is to amass power for your god, you do this by gaining the belief of the creatures that inhabit it. To start with that will be human tribes but the power to create life shall be yours so who knows what species may start to inhabit the land. You must build up your own power while eroding the support of the other gods, making yourself the most powerful and only then will you be able to unite the other gods to defeat Death. The enemy of all of you.

You achieve your goals by directing minions, creatures, creations and even mighty avatars. Shaping the land and changing it. Impress people or terrorize them into worshipping you, break deals with other gods or try to dominate them. Anything you can think off, its a sandbox RP of sorts.

There are a few rules however, you are a god not a character. All you can do is direct your attacks and creatures, the DM will decide what happens and how it affects the world. Each post you do will be summed up by the DM. This is because the RP is like a giant battle and battle RP we feel needs an independent judge to make sure it stays fair. All DM decisions are final, we do not wish to see arguments about power play or god modding.

Aside from that you can do whatever you can dream up to gain belief from the others, you are a god after all! However the more power you have, the bigger the effects for your actions and the more you can do. We have a guide for this, it is your power level.

God power levels

1: Create lesser forms of life (non free will and simple entities, anything incapable of worship)
2: increase power of everything below and of god abilities
3: Create life of human equivalent
4: increase power of everything below and of god abilities
5: Alter landscape
6: increase power of everything below and of god abilities
7: Create monstrous avatar (e.g. Kraken, Dragon, Balrog)
8: increase power of everything below and of god abilities
9: Create Prophet
10: increase power of everything below and of god abilities
11: Resurrect any fallen thing and control it
12:increase power of everything below and of god abilities
13: Apocalyptic miracle (meteor strike, whirlpool, earthquake, summon volcano etc etc)

Doing any of the special abilities lowers your power but many of them will gain you more worshippers in turn, so your power will regain in time assuming it goes to plan. Also losing any followers or creatures you create will also diminish your power, so use these powerful tools carefully. They can back fire or be wasted otherwise! It is just a guide though and it is not the strictest thing, it is more ment to be a referance of your god abilities since "Everything" is often a bit daunting for some and stiffles their creativity.

Influence

Influence is your gods power in that area, your god is strongest closet to areas of influence and weaker the further they are away from their own belivers. Divine powers are less effective on an area that is directly in another gods influence and are more powerful within your own. Buildings such as shrines and temples focus influence and act as strong beacons for faith, they also act as shields of sorts against enemy divine powers. Even those of the gods avatar. For instance, an avatar would be weaker in the presense of a beacon of rival faith. Be careful with such things though as their destruction shall damage your faith and power.

The game is like a game of chess, you must out think and beat your fellow gods or try to make peace if you like but that road is dangerous and not all gods will share that idea. The world is what you make of it!

Another new race had emerged in the second age of the gods, a new breed all together. A mixture of bird and man to form the harpie, large vicious creatures by nature but given the free will and sentient ability to choose. Choose to worship. Once their had been created, huge flocks of them set off in the direction their goddess had suggested. South, the mountains seemed like a fine place for them to roost and to settle but they didnt venture too far from their sacred home. They instead lived where scrub land met forest, living on the edge of both and the coast mountains of the north east. There they had the forest creatures and the fish both to feed them, swooping down upon both.

Although as fate would have it a lone tribe was also dwelling in the caves and coast of the mountain, emphasis on was. The harpies did not care for unbelivers a great deal and decended upon them with a fury unmatched by simple cave men who knew nothing yet of the divine storm brewing. Their basic hunting tools were no match for harpy talons and the winged devils of Arianrhod, which slaughtered them all and feasted upon them. The harpies did not mind killing, in fact they were well suited too it.

However they obeyed well the rules of their mistress, neither son of Bellegar or child of Arianrhod would be touched by them. Not when they had so much food to prey upon, the deer and fish both. They did mark their territory though, the mountain they had called home was littered with totems and jaggling animal bones. Making it quite clear who owned the mountain and whos territory it belonged too, feathers also strewn on their artifical markings. A trail for Bellegar to find should he want to trade with the winged devils.

Power was drained from the wind goddess Arianrhod, for creating life came with a heavy cost even with the pay of new worship. (Power level 2)

As the people of Agron grew, so did the proving ground. Not only did the people slowly add more features to the proving ground itself, but the competitions were becoming increasingly advanced and organized. Rather than allowing the combatants a weapon of choice, they were given one chosen at random before the fight. This motivated the people to master more than simply the weapon they felt most comfortable with, though most of the times the rules were dictated by the challanger. The competitions would developed further one year, when Bellegar rewarded their ever growing strength with a rather unusual reward.

Rather than a piece of weaponry or armor, which was the standard reward combatants received from Bellegar, he presented them with two great beasts. The first was a boar, large, muscular, and equipped with two large deadly looking tusks. These tusks quickly proved strong enough to penetrate trees, and scrape the surface of large rocks.

The second was a gigantic beast, with a long powerful snout, even greater tusks then even the fearsome boar, and hide so thick no ordinary arrow seemed able to pierce it. Mammoth was the name Bellegar gave them, and his people soon came to marvel at their sheer might alone.

Both of these creatures were blessed with unusual sharp wits and cunning by Bellegar, before he announced their role to his people. The boars were to be a gift to the humans amongst his people, to be used as they saw fit. They could vastly shorten the time it took to travel from one location to another, carry large weights, and their powerful sense of smell and hearing made them invaluable companions for hunting. Bellegar was also certain his people would quickly come up with new challenges for the proving with their new companions.

The Mammoth’s were a gift to the Thorin. Though nowhere near as fast as the boars, their unrivaled strength was enough to clear a field of rocks, were they to set their mind to it. And in battle it could not be matched, its mighty feet would crush anything unfortunate to find themselves underneath them, their snouts could hurl heavy objects, or even people high into the air, and they could tear anything before them apart with their mighty tusks.

It was a reward well earned. His people had continued to grow, becoming ever stronger with each year. However the fact that a rift was beginning to form in between his people did not go unnoticed by him. At the start those who had not desired to become warriors were few, and far in between.
Yet now the number of people who ignored that calling was becoming to great. Still this did not displease Bellegar, for sloth was something that did not persist amongst his people. Rather the people who choose not to be warriors earned their meals in other ways. A woman by the name of Kora made arrows for the hunters to use, in exchange for a first cut of the catch. Another man by the name of Zareth had developed expert construction skills, and was happy to build large, sturdy housings for the warriors.

There was no shame in this, for they still served Bellegar to the best of their capabilities…But as long as they remained here, they’d forever be second to the warriors…It was time to expand his empire.
Within a day’s time Bellegar had gathered all of those who did not desire to be warriors, and lead them along the mountain, Accompanied by a handful of boars, to aid them in the days to come. “This shall be your land.” Bellegar announced as they stopped before relatively open field. “You have all served me with the utmost loyalty.” He said turning to face them all. “Yet you have chosen not to follow the path of a warrior.” Feeling the tension rise amongst the crowd he was quick to add. “There is no shame in this. For you have all decided to serve me in other ways, ways that not only serve me, but the people of a whole. Yet amongst the warriors, you'd have to settle for scraps for the rest of your life. But not here.”

He gestured to the land behind him. “This is your land. Here you shall make a name for yourselves. Not as warriors, but loyal subjects of your god. There will be times of hardship, times when food will not be easily to come by. There will be a time when our weapons will not be enough, and superior craftsmanship will be required. But thanks to your labor, we shall be prepared, and we shall remain strong.”

Bellegar spent the next couple of weeks amongst this people. Teaching them more intimately how to live off the land. He told them to breed the animals they hunt for livestock. He then showed them rather then searching all over the forest for whatever plants or herbs were needed, they could plant the seeds, and grow it themselves, for either cures and medicine, or poison which they could tip their arrows with. Finally he showed them the way to a nearby cave, in which they could farm the mushroom within. It was around this time that he felt a disturbance.

It came to him from one of his hunters. He had spotted a light in the ever growing dark, and felt it necessary to report his find to his god eminently. Bellegar took a quick farewell of his followers, gave them his blessing, before he began to thoughtfully march back to his land. By the time he returned the hunter had gathered his brothers, and together they had brought the intruders into the proving ground, for that is where all made their audience with the Lord of the Mountain.

Though Bellegar had been curious as to what his brother wanted of him, curiosity quickly turned to outrage when they claimed they had not come to see him, but Arianrhod. Indeed it seemed his brother had not seen it fit to mention Bellegar at all. “You thought to cross my mountains without my blessing!?” Bellegar's tone was seething with rage. “What is this message he gave you to deliver!?”

When none of the men responded, Bellegar slammed his hammer into the ground, crushing the Archon beneath, and causing the very mountain to quake. “No matter...” He said in a sudden coldness to his words. “If you will not tell me, I have other ways to extract information.” To probe some ones mind was a simple thing, for all gods could do it, and did so regularly with all of their followers. Though when the subject is not so willing, the experience can easily become torture.

Bellegar, still boiling with rage felt a slight bit of satisfaction, as one of the men screamed, as Bellegar literally ripped the information he wanted, out of the mans mind, causing him to grow pale and shiver on the floor.

"Fire needs air, does it?” Bellegar said looking over his newly gained insight. Though he had seen into the mans eyes, he did not see into the eyes of his brother, and so his intent eluded him. Though he could make a educated guess. Chath needed no aid from their sister to conquer mere tribes...No...He must be preparing for war. And with Arianrhod out of the equation, that only left Morgana and Bellegar as his target. That would explain why he did they wished to go unnoticed through Bellegar's land.

Yet their capture changed everything. Arianrhod did not know of Chat's intentions...Though how long that would remain he could not tell. He needed to act quickly, strike while the iron was still hot.

“Cut off their hands. They can not be allowed to warn their master.” Bellegar said as he turned away from the crowd, as five large Thorin approached the missionaries with their sharp weapons in hand.
Bellegar went to the statue that had been raised in the likeness of Morgana, as per their agreement. There he knelt down to stare into the eyes of the Priestess who never seemed to stray to far way from that place. “I have a message to your Mistress, Priestess. Our brother moves against us. He has reached out for our sisters aid. If she would compile, I do not know. But if she were to give it, this battle will be to costly on us all. We must strike while he still stands alone. I have seen how he defies you, and I believe it is in our best interest to weaken his hold on this land.” He paused, taking a minute to think.

“We attack him together. My warriors will overwhelm his people. Her watterons will extinguish his Archons. And finally together we shall smite the very god of fire down before us. Her holy water shall weaken him, while I rip his head from his body” He then assumed a more civil tone. “As for the spoils. She may have the women, I the men. She can have the land, but I want the scythe, and the body. It shall serve my people well once its melted into tiny little pieces...”

The proposal had been made, and he could do nothing but wait for his sisters response now. As a god, Chath could not truly be slain, however destroying his physical avatar would be a gigantic setback for him. It could be costly, but Bellegar thought the risk was wroth the reward.

It was as early as the next morning, that Bellegar declared his intentions for his people. Finally they'd have a taste of true battle, and not only that, but their god would fight along with them. Given the threat Chath posed to both of them, Bellegar was certain his sister would agree to aid him to strike him down. All he needed was her word, and his soldiers would be ready to strike. It was only just before he was about to depart with his men that the harpies reached him with their message.

Though he did not know what Arianrhods people had that his people would be interested in, Bellegar accepted, not being one to turn down a potential deal when he saw one. “Return to your Mistress and tell her I accept her terms.” Bellegar said, and as he watched the harpies fly back from where they came, he turned to face the champion he'd put in charge of the warriors while the majority, including the warchief went to war. “If my sister decide to attack in my absence, take shelter in the caves. They will hold until my return. Relay this message to the warriors stationed amongst the farmers.” With that he rose and began to march alongside his warriors, and their mounts.

None could argue now that the gods were fully involed in the realm of mortals, their slumber over and their wrath spilling into the world. The Lord of the Mountain was a flurry of activity, his people matching his fervour that shaped them into a terrible force. Mastering many kinds of weapon, club, spear, axe and for the few special warriors, even the sword. Their god even gifted with them with mighty beasts of burden that also doubled as mounts. They took to them quickly, the boars were a savage but ideal mount for the forest. Not as tall as horses so their rider was less endagered by branches and more than caperble of pushing through any forest growth. The mammoths too just barged anything out of the way and in the space of a week there were "highways" through the forest which the mammoths took at their Thorin riders direction.

The mammoth also were good for lifting things, specifically rocks and logs. It was with these that the building effort around Bellegar. The mountain Agron becomming a fortress city carved into the mountain, surrounded by lesser villages but all with a giant pallisade around it all. This great city was fed on the cave mushrooms and forest game, with an abundance of resources around them. Yet it was not enough, it seemed the earth god was also wise as he was strong. For he saw the strife of his people and seperated them out, creating a second place for them to live.

Many went there, including even Thorin. For some of them dispite their size prefered making things and more humble work to the vicious life of the proving ground and constant struggle. They did not mind though for they saw the wisdom in serving Bellegar through other means, not to mention they would be more at peace with their lives without the bullying threat of the warriors. So a second town was created, not as grand as the warrior captial Agron or not yet at least. For in it were many crafters and workers. They soon took to building strong wood houses or carving out caves, it actually had what could be called buildings compaired to the simpler warrior dwellings. Naturally trade between both hubs was rife.

One other trade route did spring up by chance, a hunter who happened upon harpie dominion. He would of been killed if it had not been for the harpies questioning him first about where he came from, in the hope of finding more man flesh. Once he spoke himself as a son of Bellegar he ended up leaving their domian with a basket full of fish, feathers and tools. In exchange for his hunting bow and arrows. It wasnt long before others came to them seeking trade and the mammoths were put to work carving a trade route through the forest to the mountain. Trading weapons and bows in exchange for fish, fletching feathers and trinkets such as jewlery which the harpies seemed to enjoy making.

Though not all was well it seemed in the world because the first divine blood had been spilled from one god to another. The missionaries of Chath on their long trek to the North were taken in to the city of Agron to meet Bellegar. Under orders not to strike first they complied, not that it would of mattered much as even travelling with an archon they could not hope to fend off an entire hostile people guided by a god. Bellegar's actions were great indeed, perhaps assuming them for spies or sensing conspiracy he mutilated them. One died of blood loss, the other survived but only after the priestess of Morganna dealt with them. The pact for healers well established by a statue in each land.

A message for war it seemed as Argron sent an army force, Bellegar at the head of the war host. The first army of the second age and somewhere, deep in the world. The death god twitched in his slumber.

Power came to Bellegar, his new city and his people prospering under his divine rule. Also the purpose of war, uniting them in faith against a foe in the south. However Morganna also gained power, her healers spreading little ripples of belief and some other women taking up their healing arts in an effort to learn. Some just simply wanting a way to help save those they cared about, a warrior society produced many casualties. (Bellegar power level 3, Morgana 5)

The hunter gather age was over, due to time and even perhaps morphic fields man had advanced enough to understand many things. Farming, advanced wooden construction, basic stone construction. Along with those, the first smelting had begun. Copper and bronze were now metals people understood, basic metal construction was possible with them.

Time passes very differently for mortals and gods. The very core of life was stirring in anticipation to what was a possibility of future. War had ruled millions of years ago when Death showed it’s face and wiped the earth clean. Lady Morgana remembered the terror and did not want to see it happening again... or at least any time soon.

Her people on the coast were vibrant will life and prayers for her and that made a side of her happy and content. They were marrying ceremoniously by the shores, children were born and first washed with the water she blessed her people with and oh, they did have many children as fate smiled upon them and so did their goddess. Her people grew in vast numbers as she was watching them and guiding them. The priestesses did something that surprised her and increased her content even more – they started to write down in a rudimentary way the holy words she spoke to her people, the rites, the teachings. They used a special type of seashell and as paper they used simple planks of wood. These were distributed to all the surrounding villages of Oceania.
As her people were growing in numbers under her wing, she decided it was time to guide them into specific roles. She announced the First Priestess to gather everyone at the almost finished temple. Appearing in a magnificent form, beautiful as a pure maiden with her rainbow garments and perfect translucent body, tall as the temple itself, she spoke:

“My sisters and brothers, the time has come to be organized and grow strong. On this day I will put the foundation of several ~houses~ with more specific roles that you will take. First of all, there shall be the Warrior House. There, all of you who wish to prove your loyalty and physical abilities to me and to your sisters and brothers can do so. You shall train every day and I shall watch you flourish with honor, strength and cunning. Second, there shall be the Hunter House where talented archers and rangers shall polish their accuracy and skill in practice every day, hunt the forests for more various food, but also be prepared to defend our city and its people from hostile intruders. A special part of this House shall be the fishermen. They shall be both skilled at fishing as well as sailing and know that every tentative of improvement your current tools shall be rewarded with plentiful earned rewards in fish and blessings. All tradesmen and craftsmen are also to be part of this house, as it is a house that will insure both safety and prosperity to you all. Third, there shall be the Healers House. As many of my blessed healers live in the temple, now you shall have your own house where you can perfect and discover new ways of healing and mending. Be aware, there is great honor in this task and you shall be respected by all, no exceptions. As a special part of this house there shall be the Poison Masters – and your task shall be gathering the poisons that will both cure our people and infect our enemies. Under my protection and with your faith held high to me, you shall have my blessings upon you and your families. Remember, we are all brothers and sisters. All houses are to work together and we are all but a big family that does not turn down a cry for help when needed.”

She well knew that the women would be worthy and the men strong and willful. She was also watching with pride her selected few to get her most cherished blessing, all women, who were a part of her temple. These selected few showed unmoving faith, cunning, grace and a kind heart to those of her people, so what they received in return from their goddess was unnatural strength and speed, the power of 5 men together. She would bestow this blessing rarely but constantly, leaving but a limited number in every generation of her people. These were her living saints.
In the meantime, a few more healers had departed to the land of Bellegar, regularly sending word home of how his cities flourished, but how aggressive the people were. However, they did their job almost heroically in his land which was so different from their own and also gaining great reputation amongst the women in the cities.

The Lady Morgana had heard about what had happened with Chath’s missionary, and to some extent it saddened her to see blood being spilled like that. She knew it was time to create even more of her silent, but enduring sentinels, her watterons to patrol the city, the villages and even the forests without killing anything that belong to her land. So she closed her eyes as she forced into existence a few hundred of her watterons. She made her will clear to them, but this time, she had given them an extra gift. The water from which the watterons were made from was poison. Of course, she had thought of her people that might come in contact with it and as a precaution she enchanted the poison in their waterly bodies to only affect those whose faith did not rise up to the her. Only then, would the poison be effective, finishing off a human life in the small time of 3 days if they were to come in contact with it. Her second command to these sentinels was to take the route of the southern branch of the river that had been turned into the glass canal by Chath himself and, with great speed as no one could travel on land, mounted or not, they were to spawn in Obsidia. She had a message to the fire god and it was this:"Only I command the vast element of water! This is retribution for the disrespect you have shown the proposal I had given you, even though you respected my missionary! Pay for that insult!". This message was delivered loud and clear for all citizens of Obsidia to hear no matter where they dwell. The water, hence, was poisoned by the watterons, the people infected and plagued. It was a necessary act of the behalf of Morgana... because she was not to be taken lightly under any circumstances and both the people and the fire god had to be aware of it. She had also ordered a few of her sentinels in the north by the river Chath diverted into his land and their role was to infect the water continuously for as long as they lived.

The name of Morgana was etched on the lips of her people in songs of adoration...that may have reached even the furthest of lands. But there was also fear growing in the hearts that were not her subjects.

An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind, or so the saying goes. It seemed the immortal gods however had other ideas and the actions spoke volumes on their attitudes to vengence.

The water goddess was organising her people with a divine purpose, each man, women and child being organised into houses that focused their crafts and united them in various purposes. From warriors, to hunters, traders and crafters, even poisoners. People had trades and guidance on what to do and how to do it. With the hunter gather age over people began to get smarter too on how they dealt with animals, only killing off the ones which helped the animals prosper. Ensuring that there would always be plenty of food or at least no sudden shortages. Fishing too began to spread out its work rather than fish areas into barren water, a more careful and methodical approach.

With the holy pact between Bellegar and Morgana fully underway her people now had a forest too call their own as well, the lumber from it providing the materials for stronger houses, buildings and even the first rafts and small scale boats. Nothing ocean worthy but it aided them in fishing a little deeper off shore than the beaches, allowing them to bring back greater catches with their simple nets and spears. Her people were developing, even becomming quite fine shots with bows now that they had the wood to make better ones. And for each tree felled an offering was made at the shrine of Bellegar. A few of the craftsmen and woodsmen even taking to duel worship, praying to the shrine as they ventured out to do their days work.

They were by far and away the most advance civilisation now, toying with primitive writting and glyphs. A social structure that had a deep family and class system, not to mention what appeared to be the most organised religion. With priestesses and healers to symbolise their goddess and to crown it off, the new worlds first temple. Construction was finially complete on the grand thing, a stone base with wooden pillars and an ornately carved roof. Inside there were small pools everywhere, crystal clear water with a statue of the goddess in the centre of the temple. People came regularly to pray, some stayed there perminately. Worshipping and making a living serving those who also came to worship. It was a powerful beacon of godly power and belief.

Power rushed to the goddess although revenge for the Fire Gods actions seemed her goal. Using his newly created river against him, a deadly breed of watterons was created to travel down it to attack Obsidia itself! Poisoned watterons, green elementals of flowing, corrupted water. Her plan worked for the most part, they swam down the river at frightening speed and emerged on the banks of the river. With them an image of the goddess herself, spiting the fire god right back after he had used water against her and made his own miracle river.

Poisoned watterons began attacking people, slaying a few outright, their poison near meaningless as the glass daggers did little to defend against their wrath. The elite 30 or so templars that were created were also away, spreading the faith, leaving the city guarded only by the flame archons, which silently rushed to push out the invaders. A small battle raged from the raid against Obsidia, people fleeing from the elementals and those who got between their wrath dying swiftly. Steam would errupt as either died, water being cancelled out or flame. Although the steam was noxious and poisonous to those who breathed it in before it dissapated, luckily the Archons were not effected though.

Finially the raid had been vanquished but a terrible price had been paid, many of the hovels and huts near the river contained dead, many too of the Archons had been slain in their duty. It seemed the raid had made its point about who controlled the water, although making it crystal clear was strange colour the water had turned. Poisoned watterons at the head of the river, flooding it with their corruption and letting it flow downstream. None dared touch it waters and those who did soon became ill although their foolishness wasnt repeated often.

Chath had a problem, his actions had angered another god and now his miracle had been turned against him. His people grieving at the turn of events as they set about burning the dead, although water was going to become a problem soon as Obsidia had risen too new hights. The largest single city in the world, however such a city needed plenty of water and food if it was to survive in the desert. Both were now in short supply. Not to mention the prospect of war with Bellegar who was stomping around in his direction, however it would be some time before that became an immediet threat. The desert itself a formidable barrier that no army could cross without amply supplies of water and protection from a giant dragon.

Discontent had spread through Obsidia. The poisoning of Chath's miracle brought doubt and despair to his people. How could this happen!? Things were looking rather bad, but Chath was not fazed. There was no despair in his fiery heart upon hearing his missionary's pleas to help as Bellegar had them mutilated and yet another death was brought to his people because of the arrogance... sheer hubris this time. Bellegar dared to assume he knew Chath's intentions, and sought to wage war on the God of Fire.

So be it.

If the God of Earth wanted war, he would get war, and he would thus understand his mistake. Chath had acted out of self-preservation, as he had from the start. In turn, his people were attacked, poisoned, and his missionaries were punished for carrying out their duty. Bellegar had gone way too far on this one. Morganna's response was more understandable, but she still brought his people death, and for that, she could not be forgiven. He would reclaim their right to live, and would receive a warning. If she left well enough alone, he would try to respect her domain more, but bringing his people water had to be done.

First thing was first, his people had been too lax, too unprepared, for too long. They turned their prayers to their God, begging for a release from the horrors of this poison. "Please! Do something!" they begged time and time again. In response, he flies up to the top of Mt. Hubris (ironically named, no?) to speak to all of them. "Hear me, people of Obsidia! The God of Water, Morganna, grows restless that we take her water into our lands without permission. She sends you death, because I gave you life. This will be corrected. Boil your water, children... and collect the condensation. Soon enough, this problem will be rectified in full, but for now, realize that you are more capable than you first thought. You need not rely on your god to do everything for you. Use your minds! They are incredible tools, and some day, you will be known for them. In the meantime, the God of Earth, Bellegar, marches on Obsidia. I regret to inform you that we can live in peace no more."

Chath proceeds to tell his people how his missionaries trekked northward, and Bellegar stopped them cold. They knew of the mission north, as well as it's purpose. Anger fills Obsidia at this injustice, and it was that anger that Chath uses to focus his people, and hone them for the purpose of surviving.

"Obsidia is too large, and food grows thin. One-third of you will trek south, to a small village on the sea. Teach them to boil their water as well, and learn how to fish from them. Another third will trek north, and rally on the river in preparation. We are taking back the right to live. Those that remain will use the room to repopulate. In the meantime, there is much work to do. This mountain I perch on is sure to have metals within it. I will teach you to identify them, and thus mine them for smelting. We prepare for war, my children, and that is one thing you will be perfect at. My Templars will temper your rage into a will of steel, and your very bodies into a perfect weapon. Every man, woman, and child will learn how to protect their families. There are no helpless in Obsidia. To attack it's people will be to commit suicide. The Templars will teach discipline, and it will be with discipline and patience that you fight, and that you live by." There was no need to convince his people to follow that path in life. None of them wanted to be victims, and all of them wanted a chance to avenge their loved ones. Chath made sure they knew they were no mere tools. As harsh as he could be, he did care for them, though the other gods seemed to spite them for it.

"Those less inclined to fight will think. You will be known as Prophets, and are responsible for observing your environment, and using it to your advantage. You are responsible for investigating medicine, science, and reinforcing your people's faith."

Thus, Chath began to prepare for war. Smelting was taught to his people, as well as mining and forging. Their fires burned hotter, making for harder, more resilient blades. The smiths were taught how to fold the metal and create exotic, but highly refined tools of war. Scimitars and katanas were the two favorites. The mines were heavily reinforced, Chath wanting to avoid cave-ins. Schools were built to encourage learning, and a temple was built to give the people a common place to pray. They began to turn from an uncivilized mob into a well-disciplined, focused society. The warriors were very monk-like, mastering hand to hand combat and coming up with new ways to hurt their enemies. Spars became the norm instead of fights to the death, though a deathmatch could not be refused. Chath discouraged them unless a wrong had been done. His Archons were still there to protect, so it would be difficult, and against Chath's will to commit a crime anyway. Two branches were created, the fighters, and the faithful, and each were equal. Both had leaders, both ordained by Chath himself to ensure they were always capable, and never corrupt. Red tattoos became common, in reverence of the Templars, though they were different in design from the Templars themselves. It made the men look more intimidating, and the women more exotic and beautiful than they were already.

Lacking much wood, his people were going to have to learn more about metal and stone construction. That was now a focus, as reinforcing their home was important. A basic stone wall had begun to form around Obsidia. At Chath's command, a small group went out to build a shrine in the middle of the desert. It became part of a pilgrimage to go find it, surviving off of the desert and what little it had to offer. His people would become experts at that. Surviving in the desert meant knowing one's environment, and recent events had spurred on a quest for knowledge. Poisons could not be allowed to hold his people back, and thus research into holistic medicine was started. There were those that emerged that would be more talented at healing than others, but their means were mundane, not divine. Perhaps divine aid would come with time, and need. Farming somehow came to be in the desert. Whether it be from mushrooms, like up north, or desert plants, or even farming what the scythe could support, the people would survive.

For now, Chath had much to do. He went south, to ensure that a shrine was built in the fishing village of Katar, and that they heard his words as well. The fishing village would grow, as would the food available. To the north, there was more work to be done. Chath flies high overhead, wings blazing a trail in the sky as he approaches the villages clustered around. He stops at each of them, commanding them to meet on the river, and then spreading his words among them as well. To the north, the watterons still poisoned his people. He would prefer to make things right with his sister, and avoid a conflict with her as well, but he could not allow his people to be poisoned. She'd put him in a hard place, but he was going to attempt talking to her first.

When the people were gathered south of where the watterons were, he brought those that wished to witness this meeting of sorts. By the river, he calls to Morganna, knowing that she would hear him, and requests that she appear for all to see. If she did, his people would bow respectfully, but like their god, they were a proud lot, and the show of respect would persist until they were told to rise, or Chath began communicating with Morganna. Either way, appearance or not, Chath's words would be as follows: "Sister, I have indeed made an error in not asking for your water, but I hope you understand that I could not wait. While I could not agree to your offer, I harbor no hatred for you. I wished to show my people self-sufficiency, and feel I have succeeded in that. Your anger is clear, though, and I apologize for the disrespect shown. If you'll forgive me, I will be more mindful in the future. That said, my people still need this water. I don't wish for war, despite Bellegar's accusations, and least of all with you. There is much our people can learn from one another yet. I beseech you to withdraw your poisoners and allow me to control this single river in the interests of keeping my people alive and well. I will do what is necessary to complete this goal, and with respect... it will be done with or without your cooperation. My people are angry for the deaths caused, and I cannot allow them to suffer. I wish for them to know your kindness, not wrath. Thus, if you agree to my request, I will wish to further communicate with you, to see what we may do to make up for my disrespect."

Once he had his answer, Chath would take the actions that he must. The local villages would build an outpost, with the intention of making it an eventual fort, and center for trade if Morganna was feeling kind. Chath's people had much to give, and needed much in return. A fort and trading post would keep both people safe. If she wasn't feeling kind, then it would only keep Chath's people safe. Either way, Chath would turn his attention to his brother. This war was already over, Bellegar simply wasn't aware of it yet. From the sandy dunes, Chath uses his godly powers to create a race made in his own image. A draconic race, scaled and fierce... not picky about what they eat. They were created with the purpose of making the desert dangerous, but there were rules in place to control them. They were not to attack the desert people, easily identified by red tattoos. They were given a hatred of water, and a love for heat... as well as a healthy respect and fear of fire. They were sentient, yes, and might even have a spoken language and the capacity to worship, but they were made dim-witted to avoid negotiations, and prevent conversion. Cannibalistic in nature, they ate whatever they killed, and weren't picky about scavenging things long dead. The diseases in their mouths were great in number, and unbelievably deadly. Some were contagious, others were not. Also instilled was the hatred for large beings. They were scary, and like any dim-witted barbarian, things that scared a lizard man were attacked by a lizard man. The main feature of this new race, however, was the speed at which they bred. Each mating produced twenty to fifty eggs, ensuring that Chath had a horde to work with, and that they never ran out of food. One last thing was put into place before everything clicked... the desire to die. To die, even by fire, meant they fed their race, and left no fear left to use against them. Every last one could be slaughtered, save one, and that one would charge the enemy lines.

200 individuals were pulled from the shifting sands, and began to exist as a race, procreating as soon as they found somewhere to settle. If needed, they would change genders to produce more rapidly. The large dragon that looked so like them was feared and respected, and so his commands were heeded. He was the Creator, the almighty, and he wanted them to push north, expand into the forests in the west. Their objective was to kill and consume any who were dressed like a worshipper of Earth, armed, or within the southern mountain ranges. They were to spread themselves out and breed, kill, consume. Chath himself then flew to meet Bellegar's army. He was prideful, but not stupid... his distance would be kept as he issued his warning. "This is your only chance to turn back, Bellegar. I do not wish for war, but if you seek it, you shall have it. Those that do not turn back will only survive by giving themselves to me. You will also return my missionaries to me, or I will come and retrieve them. These are my terms, and they are not negotiable. Turn back." he orders. If Bellegar's response was even slightly less than favorable, Chath would respond in kind by lighting the forests around them on fire, and willing the fire to spread, impeding their progress forward. They would have to wait, or turn around and go around or through the mountains. If the God of Earth tried to negotiate, only one thing would sate Chath's rage and his people's desire for justice... and that was to have Bellegar hand over one of his generals in payment for two missionaries, who would otherwise have made fine commanding officers themselves.

In the meantime, those that were deemed worthy and capable were granted the title of Gifted, and an army was formed. Every able body would be equipped and put on standby. Those to the north were given equipment to defend themselves. Weapons, even armor, were going to come in handy. The Templars became generals, leading armies of the combat capable north to the outpost, and to the west of that location, building an outpost nearer to the border in preparation. First, the blitz, then the attrition, and then finally, a final blow would be given to Bellegar if he continued. Once past the fire, the ash and smoke filled woods would yield only death by lizard, or Suo-ata, as they became known as. Death and disease would be granted upon Chath's opposers, and with it, horror. The Suo-ata did not fear death, and hated the giant beings that Bellegar brought forth. Chath, while giant, was also on fire, and therefore not to be messed with. Besides, one didn't strike at their creator, especially when one cannot be reasoned with. The closer Bellegar fights his way to the desert, the worse it would get. Provided he even got to the desert, more awaited him. Fires would not light when the desert grew cold at night, Suo-ata would continue to reap this new source of food and reproduce because of it, and just as Chath said, only those that turned their worshipful mind towards him would be spared.

One last thing was left to be done... a bird of fire, a phoenix, was sent north to the God of Air, to communicate what his missionaries could not. He wished to help and be helped. The same message he'd given his missionaries was given to the people of the north, and their god if she chose to listen. This time, he informs her of his intent to repel Bellegar. He wished for her blessing to take to the skies, as well as a similar situation of mutual aid that Morganna and Bellegar had, if only for the sake of safety. More than anything, he simply wished to communicate with her more easily, and so a way to do that was requested.

So, the first war had begun, and all would see that Chath was not to be trifled with. His rage was unmatched, and once he had the chance, Bellegar would see the anger he'd invoked by his acts of bloodshed. He would realize that he was making a mistake, one way or another, but perhaps he would listen to reason once he had been put back in his place.

War was underway and fire was responding with a furious blaze, or at least the threat of war. The army of Bellegar was still within his own lands and realm but its destination was known, not to mention blood had been drawn. A missonary of Chath slain by the God of Earth.

In response fire retallated with furious activity, his people being organised into rapid action. The needs of survival came first though and water was paramount in the desert. The effective and wrathful tactics of the water goddess had tainted the new glass river, fouling the miracle. However under the instruction of their god the people managed to prevent all but the first deaths. Boiling their water and clensing it from impurities was not an ideal solution but one that worked none the less.

Secondly food was still an issue, dispite their gods wishes farming did not come to the desert yet. Chaths power had waned, his scythe's aura shrinking as the divine power weakened. Not to mention they lacked the animals or mushrooms like the others.

Action was taken to prevent starvation though as the city of Obsidia was divided. Two great exodus's left from it, one north east, the other south east.

In the south the town of Katar was formed, once a tiny fishing village it grew almost overnight as the people arrived in droves and began to fish the ocean heavily. Trade immedietly sprang up to the hungry Obsidians as now they had a fine food source to sustain them. In return the new forges and the mines under mt hubris churned out weapons and tools for the people, the bronze age was well underway.

The second group of pilgrims to the north, under the protectful watch of their god travelled to the head of their river. Chath himself gathered up all the surrounding tribes and converted them to his own people, who all watched as Morgana appeared as Chath beseetched her for peace.

The lady of water it seemed agreed, her point made at least. For her watterons of poison departed from the land and back to their goddess domain, leaving the fire god to established his third town. One surrounded by rivers on the border with the forest.

In each city templars trained people to fight from every walk of life and age, the starting of army it seemed. The people learned to use bronze swords and weapons, most of them quickly learning the basics. However it was ONLY the start of an army, such things took times and dispite Chaths wishes he would not have an army for his Gifted to lead just yet. Nor would he have the fort's he wanted. His people had no experiance with wood and had only managed basic structures in the north, it would take time before it was fortified. Not to mention his people were still new to the way of the swords. However a Gifted had departed to each city to govern and run it in accordance to Chath's teachings.

His "Prophets" set their minds to it though however they were far too occupied working on the shrines and the potential plans for a temple. One shrine in the desert was build and another in the town of Katar. The temple hadnt begun though for his people had schools to construct and army training grounds, not to mention the mine under Hubris to maintain. The rest would have to wait.

The fire God Chath however was not going to rest, the last of his power was used to create a new race. Suo-ata as they were called, a brutal race of dragon like lizardmen who spawned from the desert in vast number.

They wasted no time rushing north into the forests, being too dim witted for building they prefered the thick green growth as the forests provided them with everything they need. Immedietly they divided into tribes and fought amongst themselves, killing and eating their own including hunting for animals. It was during one of these hunts that the plague of monster lizards encounted Bellegar's army. War broke out immedietly as blood was shed, lizard blood though as the army was too strong for a lone tribe of hunters. Suo-ata were not a united front but their nature gave them an animalistic cunning, they began to ambush Bellegar's scouts and outriders. Killing any who they could catch alone.

The forests soon became filled with violence, lizardmen fighting lizardmen, lizardmen fighting men and lizardmen fighting Thorin. It was not enough to stop the army of Bellegar but it was enough to slow it down, making the whole process far more dangerous.

A meeting, the first of its kind also took place. Two mighty avatar gods trading words, Chath ordering the withdraw of Bellegar, which was met with a denial of authority. For no one god had the right to order another, which lead to more fury from Chath as his domination was denied. His missionary withheld from him.

Fire spread into the forest itself, trees burning as they were consumed in the breath of the great dragon. However it did not go as Chath planned, his flames halted the army but did nothing more. His power weak and so far from his worship ment that it didnt have the energy needed to consume the entire forest. Not to mention he was more in Bellegar's land, which stiffled the power of the fire god to only a small blaze.

The world waited with baited breath, armies were being build, a new monstrous race had emerged and war seemed inevitable. How it would turn out remained to be seen. Most importantly perhaps was if the wind goddess would invole herself in the fued between the gods, a fire bird had been sent to to her domain and bringing words. It could perhaps change the fate of everything.

The birds that she had delivered unto her people served in ways that were unimaginable to most. It was not just the aid that they delivered to the humans that made them valuable. No, it was that all that they saw Arianrhod too could see. At times they would fly far and wide from their people in search of things of interest or even to ensure that safe travel was ahead. At most times there was little that brought the goddess' attention to the world below, but now she had cause to watch. Little conversations were seen, particularly where the trade route with the harpies had been placed. Words of war came to her. And the knowledge of what exactly had brought it about.

For now... she did nothing. It was none of her concern. She had far more vested in her people and no need to send them off to aid or hinder the fire god. No, instead she began to settle more firmly above the main monolith, blanketing the sky in her dense, shading clouds and a cool wind that invigorated those who stopped there. So it came to be that with time the old ones, and even those that had suffered dire and crippling injuries began to settle. So too did those who simply did not hold the wanderlust that was meant for the nomads. It began with a few clusters of people that milled about but soon became so much more. As the various nomadic tribes visited it began to come about that things were built. Stalls for trading items were created to the south of the soaring stone that praised their goddess. They held quills and various cloaks and hoods created from feathers, beaded necklaces and charms that came from the harpies along with the arrows, bows and knives that were available to trade. It could almost be considered that these stalls were a warehouse of sorts, keeping the surplus ready for those that may need it.

Soon it came to be that a new animal was brought to the scrublands where her people roamed. She brought to them great beasts that possessed large curled horns that arched forward from their skull, sharp ends pointed forward. They were covered in thick hide and had bodies similiar to that of a smaller buffalo but for their faces which were actually bird shaped complete with broad beaks though with fur instead of feathers. From their backs sprouted enormous wings that could support their hefty build in flight along with anything they may need to carry. More than anything, they were ample food for the people of the land as they had litters of calves rather than singular ones and one full grown adult could feed a tribe, nomadic or otherwise, for long periods of time. To the north of the great stone they had begun to create basic stables and overhangs where they kept those of the adult animals that they could breed. So it was that meat became a more steady source, supplied to the nomads that paid a visit and could afford to trade for such. And nothing was wasted. Hide was kept as well as bones along with horns that soon came to be used as a way to call on the harpies when calls were amplified through them. So too was the lengthy fur that covered the front half used. These things soon made more clothing and jewelry, exotic goods when combined with the feathers and baubles that they soon became to be known for.

At the great stone itself, the goddess was known to appear to her people, whispering words of encouragement and aid. They began to worship more properly, abasing themselves before the stone for but a simple sign from Her. And she gave it sparingly. She would advise them on things such as breeding of animals and gathering things. She would even advise them on spreading the word of her strength. Most activity was during the great yearly trade meeting that took place there, her people still delighting most in the open world of the scrublands. No closed temple was raised around the stone, but the thought was there regardless. It was a grounds of worship. It was during one such meeting that she whispered to those that roamed the furthest south and typically held the trade route with the harpies.

"I have an important task for you," she spoke to the Chief of the particular nomadic tribe that called themselves Sa-Sani. "Split amongst yourselves and keep half in your normal lands. Continue to contact the harpies as you should and further offer them tribute and let them know that in times to come they may well be needed as protection or warning against those that would harm any who are among our people. Even moreso, give to them some of the new beasts so that they will not known hunger when other food sources are low. For the other half, I wish to further the domain that bears witness to my power. Send them out to the tribes of the fertile plains east of the mountains, particularly those that do not already worship one of my siblings. Any of those you come across, give them gifts. Just a small bit of course. Tell them that should they desire more to erect a shrine in my honor and worship the goddess of air. Once they have, direct them in how to trade with those of the scrublands and ensure they wear upon them the feathers of my birds. Should you be met with hostility, do not fight directly unless there is no choice. Either call upon the harpies to deal with them entirely or come to them in the dead of night to kill them in their sleep. None will underestimate you." Perhaps it was a harsh way to deal with any who may mindlessly attack her people, but she hoped to begin a spread of respect now that her people knew of her kindness.

"Should you come by chance upon those that worship my sister, the goddess of water, treat them kindly. Offer to them the same as what my brother has. The opportunity to trade. Should they wish not to, then leave them as they are. Do not attack, but certainly defend if they should try to do so. Now go, deliver to your tribe my words." With that, she was pleased that with hope her reign would spread further.

As the nomads that worshipped her developed they no longer came to survive. They came to thrive and be entirely happy with their lives. It was pure freedom that they held, the freedom to do as they wished and to go where they would. Soon they came to dance in their everlasting joys and to sing out to the heavens songs of the air and most of all... freedom. From hide and wood they created drums that could hold the beat of their melodies, or announce their presence. So too did they make more with the beads they gathered and various jewels. Even flutes were brought into existence along with other primitive wind and percussion instruments. With these they would likely cause a certain amount of envy in those that knew nothing but work and fighting. After all, these people could do as they wished and they did, all while bearing the love and worship for their goddess.

So too did their abilities with bows and knives develop. The did not fight amongst themselves, but during the yearly visit to the Monolith it came to be that they would have grand contests of skill with marksmanship as well as a Great Hunt to see who could bring in the most new livestock with extra points awarded to those who did so without killing. To do this they came to simply tie two large stones at the end of thick hide to cast at the legs of the creatures to entangle and topple them. In otherwords, they had bolas. They were weighted enough to bring down these beasts that were simply known as buffalo down even when in flight.

When a bird came to her, and one that was not of her creation she was not entirely surprised. While she may have mostly kept to herself in the north she knew it would not be long before someone would contact her. Besides, she had heard whispers of war though not the entire story. The phoenix was allowed to come to her with no trouble as she took its message. The idea of helping him in his war was quickly dismissed. There was little she could do and even less still that she would want to do. Already she had begun to have contact with Belleger's people, and to forge an alliance against him would not do well for her even with the harpies as protection. The idea a trade of knowledge however would not be too hard to do. If nothing else, it would be showing an equal opportunity to everyone. Either way, she would not show favorites. "Take this message back to your Master," she whispered to the phoenix. "Tell him that I will not come to his aid in his war. He may use the air in his area as he wishes, but I do not desire needless deaths of my people. However, should he wish to encourage a trade agreement between my people and his then he may do so. While the war is ongoing we may trade items through a carrier system of sorts. Once it is over however, assuming all settles well enough we will arrange a meeting directly between our lands. Unless he wishes to offer something else there is nothing more I will give him. Should he build a shrine in my name however things may be different. For now, this is what I give to him. He must be the first to offer something of use." Her words came as they were, with no gifts. No, the key to her continued success was to not cause waves with the other gods. They would all recieve equal treatment from her. For now at least.

Wind was blowing strong and the people of the north were slowly increasing their claim on the land, their culture refining and expanding itself as their customs grew and their crafts increased.

The great central monolith had become the centre of the land, not a city but more a giant trade post for the old and the infirm. Those unable to travel instead of abandoned finially had a place to live and be productive in the name of the goddess, which in turn attracted those who wanted a more settled life. It hadnt taken long for the pillar of stone to become a trading post town full of people hawking their wares and prospering off the half year gatherings.

The half year gatherings had become more than just a focal point for the nomandic tribes to worship but also to test their skill, as per their goddess orders they had taken to the bow and the knife. Suble weapons that they used with excellent skill, not just because it was a weapon but because it was what they used to eat. Those who couldnt shoot their prey didnt last long out on the harsh, cold tundra of the north. Especially during the fierce winter. Her people though were innovative as they were resourcesful, wasting nothing and finding a use for everything.

The new beasts or "beakalo" as they were known provided a new rich food source for her people and they no longer had to scratch a living off the hard land. With new meat her people grew strong and healthy, even taller as they had more protien. They revered the animals for their life giving quality and they became sacred in their own right, before the beakalo they had nearly starved on occassion. All was well and the herds prospered, the natives making sure they never over hunted the sacred beasts.

However the world being the way it was and talk of war in the south, even the air goddess couldnt simply let her people go by unaffected. As instructed by their loving goddess they ventured south to the harpies, stopping to pay tribute with new beakalo flesh. With that done they expanded into the valleys below the mountains, taking some of their beakalo with them for food as they did not wish to be parted from the animals. They set up a new nomadic route, a long one following the river to explore and also encounter new tribes. They ventured far before finially they set up a stable route, following the land as the seasons changed.

One thing however was the new beasts, they didnt all stay with the pilgrims from the north. Newly introduced to the fertile plains of the east they expanded like an explosion of life, it wasnt long before large herds of them were roaming about. No natural predators to follow them they flew where they liked and grazed on the lush plains of grass. It seemed that many indeed would be enjoying the beakalo's taste. From the desert people freshly entering the eastern lands, or the Lady Morgana's own hunters. A far cry from her exlusionary diplomacy which refused the fire gods warmongering call.

Still power came to Arianrhod as she guided her people to success. The north fully claimed and now even a claim on the eastern plains.

When Chath approached his brother, Bellegar did not believe he had misjudged Chath intentions. He would not need the aid of their sister, against mere mortals. But Bellegar was ready to listen to his brother, for his offer seemed within reason. “Very well, I shall give you your missionary, but I shall not pay for the life of the other. He trespassed into my land, and paid the price. I hope his sacrifice have reminded you to pay proper respects to your fellow gods.” Bellegar said to his brother. “I shall not march into your land, but in case you plan to deceive me, I shall build a fortress on this ground to stand against your armies. If your intent truly is peaceful, then it will merely be a waste of resources, and will not mind our presence here, correct?”

And so without further negotiation, Chath burned the forest before Bellegar and his army, his actions betraying his words. Had he truly not wished war, he would have let Bellegar waste his time and resources on securing a front, which would never be under siege. He would have taken his missionary, comforting himself with the knowledge there would not be any further bloodshed.

Yet Chath had sought to order Bellegar around like he was just another of his subjects. He never once attempted to compromise, or even admit the fault he had made by challenging Bellegars authority, by not paying the proper respects in his land.

In the end it did not matter, the plan was unchanged…

Bellegar then turned to the missionary of Chath . “You see how my brother is quick to abandon those faithful to him? He runs away to protect his own scales, but leaves his faithful to die. And to think, he would trade the life of one of his missionaries, with that of a single ‘heretic’. Is that all your life is worth to him? Do you see how fickle your god’s loyalty is? There shall be war now… Your people, your friends, your family will be slain, all because of his foolish pride.”

Bellegar then extended a hand, and showed the missionary obsidian, how its people were poisoned, how the archon’s fell before the wateron’s. Bellegar had not seen as much as sensed these events himself, so these were mere images Bellegar manipulated from the missionaries memory of his home. Though there were advantages to this, for he made the assault seem ever more devastating than it had been in reality, yet there was enough proof were the vision ever to be questioned

“Now look at your hands.” The vision vanished within a instant, leaving him to stare wide eyed at the stumps, where had once been hands. “Do you see it now? The monster that you served. Is this the glory you imagined when you worshiped it?

Silance fell as Bellegar allowed the thoughts sink in. “But I offer you a chance, a mercy your god didn’t see fit to give you. Join me, and your kin shall be spared from my wrath, and if you prove your worth to me, I will even return your hands to you.”

Bellegar then left the missionary in the care of his warriors. The seeds of doubt had been planted, but there would be much time before he could undo what his brother had done to the man. Standing before his warriors, Bellegar gestured over the ground behind him.

“Here, in this mountain pass, we will build a stronghold to bring ruin to my brother and all those who would follow him.” He then called forth the people he'd handpicked from the village high cliff, as its people had come to call it. These men and women were constructors and stone carvers, who had been brought along with the warriors for their unrivaled expertise in their field.

Firstly he began teaching how to construct ballista's, a weapon which would be essential in order to slay the fire god, as he was one to retreat into the skies, alongside the catapult, which could make quick work of large groups of soldiers. And secondly he set about the arts of creation once more. The creation of the Thorin had already drained him, but he thought it essential to do this last thing before he could recuperate his powers.

Clencheing his hand into a firm fist, he channeled his power into it. He then released it, and five bright lights suddenly appeared and scattered into the air, and flew into the mountains to the east, west, and a single one went to the far north.... Deep within those mighty peak's, life now stirred.

The Hive Queens had awoken...

The Hive Queen's, which was often referred to as the Wives of Bellegar, due him giving them the same love for the mountain, and creation he possessed, had the ability to control the thrall's, which they spawned and command as they pleased. The Thrall's, were incredibly strong, capable of carrying objects several times their own weight, and best of all, they were next to mindless to ensure their loyalty, even if Bellegar was to work them to death. Then there were the Soldiers, about twice as large as the thrall's, and countless times deadlier. They possessed long powerful clawed hands, Sabre like fangs dripping with poison, and blessed with near perfect sense of sight, and hearing. Though still under the Hive Queen's command, their control was more loose, so that the warriors could adapt to a unexpected situation instantly rather then await new orders. And finally they had the Praetorians, thick shelled, hulking behemoths that served as the personal guard of the queens, and leaders in strike forces at times. Though winged, the Praetorians did not fly, as much as they launched themselves into the air at a high speed to assault targets. In addition If the hive queen was killed, the Praetorians had the ability to evolve to take their place. While incapable of laying eggs, the evolved Praetorian's control of the hive would be greatly increased, to bring order to the hive.

All of these were all created with large formic acid glands within them, which allowed them to spit acid at their enemies, and render their own flesh poisonous to anyone unfortunate enough to attempt to eat them.

Meridians were what the people came to call this race as a whole.

That night Bellegar spoke to his wives, through their minds, telling them of his plans and desires. They were to nest, grow, dig, raise shrines in his honor at the fort, and bring material they find to his people, and aid in the construction of his fortifications in this region. The one sent to the north was further ordered to bring word through one of her thralls, to Arianrhod that he wished two shrines to be raised at their trading outpost, where both gods could be paid tribute. The Wife was then told to spread her Thrall's as quickly as possible. He wanted those mountains claimed in his name, before the Harpies got to them, though he felt satisfied with letting the harpies keep what they already claimed, though nothing more.

“Do this for me, and I promise you eternal glory, and whatever your hearts may desire.” He said to them, before his attention was turned back to his army. Bellegar ordered them to advance past the burned line to drive the tribe of Lizard men who resided there away from the construction of the fort. Many tribes would still remain in the area, but this one was the biggest immediate threat, and there for had to be dealt with.

To do this, the Mammoth's were prepared for war, and by Bellegar's command their tusks became decorated with a thick barb wire before the assault. They were then organized into a wide line, which would be sent charging through the forest, tearing trees into pieces, and crushing Lizardmen as they went. Following behind them would be Bellegar, and his Boar riders to finish off any Suo-ata that was not instantly killed, and not to far behind them, was the rest of the army, who jogged lightly along, wisely saving their strength for the battle to come. They would encircle the Suo-ata tribe, and kill anyone who did not retreat. Even if the entire tribe was to retreat, the army would not follow, as long as they left this land, they did not care.

Regardless of the battles outcome, Bellegar would order the thrall's to dig wells for his people to drink from. He would tell his builders to construct forges, so that they could make fine weaponry and armor from the material the Thrall's found, and continue construction of more siege weapons. He also then suggested that they could use the mammoth to hurl rocks at their enemies to add further devastation onto their ranks. For now Bellegar and his people would stand against the fire god, in a united front, while his fort was being built. But as the Meridians grew, and spread, Bellegar would order many of his people, including the warchief back home to Agron. But Bellegar did not order all his men to leave. He was determined to make this a place that would be more then a simple fort. Fields of food was to be planted, work for both soldier and craftsman was plenty, as he had encouraged his engineers to try to experiment on the siege weapons, and find ways to improve them, and of course you needed people to man them. Then once the Queens to the east had increased their numbers, they were to launch raids on the fire gods city close to that mountain. He did not believe he could completely wipe them out, but he could make life difficult for them. The acid spit could spoil their supplies, and with their inhuman strength they could tear down buildings before they could form a proper structure. It would take lives, but that was the beauty of Thralls. There was always more to take their place.

The divine rule of the gods was in full force now as war was well underway, Bellegar was marshalling his people with all the relentless purpose of industry. A torrent of activity to respond to the new threat of the Suo-ata and the scourge they represented as a threat. The attempt at diplomacy had failed and with it the certainty of years of bloodshed, the captive missionary was a strong minded individual. Indoctrinated heavilly in the ways of Chath, brain washed almost like the rest of the templars who had been converted personally by Chath. However even that faith was not immune to doubt when at the mercy of another gods divine power.

The templar wailed with grief at the images shown of his people and the troubles that had plauged them, also the knowledge that he would not be returned home to his people. He did not respond, he merely withdrew into a catatonic like state, speaking to no one and nothing. His way of coping with the troubles about, not even finding solitude in prayer but rather prefering to shut down completely while he was taken back to Agron.

Not that Bellegar was troubled much, for he began digging in heavily. First fresh builders from Highcliff came to help reinforce the area and began construction on a fort and farm land while the army defended from the occassional lizard hunting party. Their lack of organisation was a blessing to the sons of Bellegar for only the most hungry groups came looking that deep into the mountain pass. As construction began the master builders made quick work of a wall but not that it mattered, for a new force entered the second age. One unlike any other.

The new force was the Moridian, the wives of Bellegar. Their ilk was beyond alien compaired to the rest of the races and the soon burrowed into their mountains and began spawning many thrall larve. Those Thralls hatched out and began digging more tunnels and venturing forth to bring the queen food and materials. Which lead to more being spawned, each mountain turning into a warren of turrels and passages filled with Moridian beings. Their rapid spawning nature and perfect cooperation though came at a cost, only the soilder castes and up were caperble of worship and it was not advanced worship. Their simple minds ment only the Queens themselves could truly worship but it did ensure absolute loyalty. Within a matter of days the mountains were crawling with Thralls which scavenged food for the queen, teams of them digging out ore from the mountains and bringing it to the fort. Whole groups of them carrying entire trees to the fort to supply it with lumber which only sped up its construction and it wasnt long before it was fully constructed, an army of slave labour essentially saw to that.

The Queens also began breeding their soilders, many groups of them could be seen patrolling around the base of their mountains. Even clashing with the Suo-ata which lead to a brutal battle, the ant things shredding lizardmen only to be brought down by weight of numbers, lizards jumping on them and battering their carapace open with clubs and stone axes. Yet the irony was that those lizardmen soon died after consuming the toxic flesh of the Moridians, their poison glades penetrating their bodies and destroying any who ate from them.

The North Hive was far more peaceful though, they infested the mountains and quickly became the annoying neighbours of the Harpies. The flying devils didnt much care for the ants that now competed with them for food and screetched viciously at them every time they crossed paths. Dispite their gods commands it seemed the harpies didnt like sharing and managed to throw a few Thralls to their deaths off the peaks, harrassing the workers. They began to beseetch their goddess for help while maintaining a not so healthy distance from the hive workers whenever possible. Dispite that though it seemed that Bellegar did have a gnack for cooperation, enough to make a pact with his trade partner and two shrines build in the trading post. It came naturally to those there to worship both since they already admired much about each others cultures, bringing fresh power to both the gods.

Fort Ordo was born and it began a hive of a differant type, buzzing with activity and work. Forges being constructed, weapons being made. Ballistics moved up onto the four main towers to defend from air assaults, catapults inside, well supplied with rocks by the Moridian thralls. Even the mammoths were being taught to act as rudamentry siege equipment in case of attack, not that it was planned for since war began to take an aggressive turn.

The army of Bellegar was lined up and their clever assault began, three waves of attack. First a mammoth stampeed to clear the way, followed by boar riders and Bellegar, then the mass of barbarian men. It was a bold plan and it took the first Suo-ata tribe head on, by surprise too because the dim lizards hadnt seen the mammoths up close yet. Battle was ugly, the mammoths barged straight into the tribes hunting grounds smashing trees down and trampling many but it didnt take long for the lizardmen to latch onto them and butcher them as they continued to rampage. Giant beasts covered in scaled monsters who hacked into their flesh, finially starting to bring them down when the thundering of a god approached. Bellegar smashed into the recovering lizardmen and his charge further backed by giant boar riders and the boars themselve, fierce beasts with giant tusks that gored many a lizard. It further scattered the lizardmen but they had little notion of retreat, dispite Bellegars clever plan there would be no easy victory.

The Suo-ata turned on their attacks, swarming in great droves around the attacks in an attempt to encircle and butcher them. It was a simple but effective tactic, save on Bellegar who crushed them with stomps and hammerfalls. Once again clusters of boar riders were fending off waves of lizards who came at them, which only provided the men running up behind with clear targets. The lizardmens swarming nature used against them as the soilders were able to swarm them in kind, circling around them and butchering them with the methodical action of trained and feirce warriors. The boar riders and mammoths were cut to peirces and a fair few soilders had been ripped apart. But victory was clearly Bellegar's a tribe near decemated and forced to finially give ground before he pulled back with his glory. Many of the men returning home with tales of war, while others embraced their new lives as frontiers men. A new fortress town fully supplied with farms and weapons, feeding both humans and Moridians alike and guarding the pass to Bellegar's domain.

Still it seemed the god of the mountain wasnt done yet, his new Moridian soilder caste had been given marching orders also. A small batch, only around fifty was sent towards the northern most city of fire and they decended down without thought or complained about their odds. The fire people were at first baffled, their town was not yet fortified but they were not stupid and kept and healthy watch. They did not know what to make of the bizzare creatures skuttling towards them until they were close enough to see the hostile intent. The alarm was raised and the raid was fully underway. Large beastial insects smashed into huts while desert warrios jumped on their backs and began hacking at them. Others batted away clawed spikes as they fought for their lives, some were simply consumed as acid hit them in the face from lethal spits.

The raid was defeated though, against a thousand desert people all armed and trained ment there was no victory hope. However it did bring with it many casulties, a hundred men and women injured and dying or dead. The bizzare ant beasts accounting for twice their own number before being brought down. An impressive start but also a stark omen, the war was going to be brutal. With the Suo-ata replacing their loses easily and now another swarm unleashed, who knew how such a war would turn out!

The people of Oceania were growing with each day. Every one of them now knew how to make good use of bows and arrows now due to the intense practice with these weapons. The priestesses were keeping the moral up for both men and women as words of the war between Bellegar and Chath reached their ears and made for intense discussions. A few of the more enlightened priestesses even started writing down chronicals of what was going on in distant lands since they really did began to master the art of writing.

An interesting blessing had befallen the people of Oceania. One day, a young hunter who was making his way through the forests had spotted a strange herd of flying buffalos over the treetops. With that tale he hurried as fast as he could to the First Priestess describing them in detail and, due to his archery skill, even managed to bring a trophy of these creatures home. The priestess immediately went to the temple to ask the goddesss about this strange being and consult. The Lady Morganna nodded in full understanding of the matter and explained that these were creatured fabricated by the wind goddess, a figure not many had known of until now. She had instructed the priestess to tell all hunters that these were creatures that could be of great use to the brothers and sisters of Oceania. They would make meals of their meat, use their skins as material for armors and bones for other useful tools and weapons (like tools to help with farming, fishing, cooking tools and so forth as well as knives and perhaps tips for their arrows when sharpened enough – though metal would always be preferable). The made armors from these skins would be crafter in three layers to provide better protection for the wearer. All the brothers and sisters were invited to use their imagination as to what these materials could be put to use to.

The Lady Morganna had heard every word that Chath had directed to her about her assault and she was slightly pleased that he had understood her message. However, she was not about to become lax in under circumstances as far as matters like these went. She projected to Chath a reply that said the following – “My brother, as a token of your new found respect for water I request you build a shrine in my name, in Lady Morganna’s name, in the town of Katar on the shores of the sea. As proof of my kindness and generosity you shall also have a healer that will bring with it the recipe of poison curing. But be aware, the leaves that cure needs do not grow in your desert land and you shall appoint a small number of your people to gather them and help tend to the shrine, which will be the main healing base. In return, I shall not destroy the town of Katar and I expect the same from you and your people. They are not to touch my city and my people.” She knew this was a reasonable offering and she was, to some extent, glad for the sake of mankind that her brother finally responded to reason.

The power of Morganna had grown enough to make another extremely valuable gift to her people. The titan. She gave word that the people of Oceania should gather just outside the city and be prepared for the miracle that was about to take place. She appeared, as usual, in her beautiful garments and undeniably amazing presence and spread out her arms as to embrace her people as she spoke...
“My brothers and sisters... on this blessed day I give to you the most powerful protector the world has seen. Accept it with your open hearts in utter adoration to me.” Perfect sparkling mists arose from her open palms like pearls in sunlight colored by the amazing power they held and slowly merging in front of the goddess to take a yet unrecognisable shape. Deep blue gigantic ribbons of the purest water started to wrap around what now seemed to look like an enormous snake figure. As the making was completed, the titan lifted its head towards the sky and let out a deep, penetrating hiss that sounded like “Ssssaaaah”.

“I give to you, my beloved people, ... Leviathan!”

The people were so awestruck that none would even gather themselves to cheer or thank the goddess. This being were surging with power and potential, not to mention this was the most biggest thing they had ever layed their eyes upon. But this creature, Leviathan, was half as impressive as it was strong. In times of need, his water body would be able to turn into crystalised ice as hard as the hardest of minerals, it could, in need, freeze the land completely underneith it and around it when needed and it would be able to spurt massive quantities of water... poisoned water... or great ice lances when in combat with foes. Leviathan would never hurt his own people and would patrol bettween the settlements of the water people, making his presence known and reminding all that the Lady Morganna was with them, for them, protecting them.

Regaining their composure, the people cheered and chanted the name of their goddess countless times until the even the land seemed to hum the same tune of utter adoration and worship.

But the Lady was not yet done. After the intense experience of making Leviathan, she instructed her people to build two cities under the name of Morganna. One would be called Dew-neth and would be placed in between the triangle of rivers, more to the west of Oceania and it would be populated by hunters, warriors and especially craftsmen, all forming their particular houses and keeping the structure of Oceania, along with a shrine in the heart of this city. Another city would be formed just north of the lagoon that existed south west of Oceania and this one would be called Linae. In this city some of the fisherman would come, along with the specific houses that would be present in Dew-neth. A shrine would be built in the center of this city as well.
There was one last gift the Lady wanted to make her people and this time it was especially for her archers. She created in the rivers surrounding her cities a special type of crocodile creature, much faster than an ordinary croc, with six legs, thick hide that would be very hard to penetrate and of course, jaws completed with three rows of extremely sharp and poisonous fangs. Their tails would be completed with pin-point spikes that in temselves would be dangerous to any being. There were to be trained and took as hunting pets, valuable allies and worthy companions of Lady Morganna’s archers. This would ease hunting and add a special touch of dangerous when enemies encountered her people...

The Lady Morganna had given her people her blessings from her very core...and they had rewarded her generosity with unmoving adoration...

The people of the coast were always a beacon of civilisation and it continued to act like it, their peaceful cities let man evolve free of warfare and strife for the most part. Their bellies full and their minds eager to take on whatever challenges their land presented. Though it presented few, food became even more of an abundance as the beakalo came in. It wasnt long before they were being hunted for sport as just a nuisance animal whenever they wandered close, not just their meat. With such bountiful supplies it was no surprise they had time to develope literature and chronicals of history.

They developed fine leather armour but also arts and crafts of their own, not the rustic and soulful jewlery and trinkets of the wind goddess people. But rather fine works of art, slowly created to form little statues of perfection or relics of devotion. Peace lead to many creative outbursts, espcially when the craftsmen could live out their lives and perfect such things in good health. Something more likely with Morgana's priestesses tending to the populace, allowing masters to arise in their various crafts. Long lives ment more time to practice after all.

Diplomacy also arose between the Chath and Morgana, a pact formed to benifit them both and ensure the peace of Katar. In return Morgana's envoy set off towards the desert and Katar, while many other envoys marched. A great exodus had begun, the surrounding villages of Morgana's Oceania were gathered up and sent off to their new locations lead by their houses. These formed the base for new cities, giving them a fixed population of decent size to begin. They brought with them much lumber from the holy woods, making sure to pay tribute to Bellegar before hand as they set to work. Two new cities began forming on their locations, both being constructed from the ground up although both started the same. A holy statue acting as a shrine in the centre, the image of Lady Morgana herself.

The world shook with the power the exodus, the largest effort of divine will had manifested itself in the form of a great avatar. A mighty water snake to watch over and defend the people of Morgana, it was a powerful creature. Strong enough to fight with a god even, strong enough to battle an army. It was a tremendous force and it showed the power of the gods at work, no doubt it would change the fate of the world in some way or form. Though dispite all this, it was undoubtly not going to be the first of its kind. An avatar of the gods was a powerful thing and no doubt many would seek to make their own.

Ripples of power spread out from this event and in their wake the croc's were breathed into existance. A dog like creature but born of the water, a simple but effective tool to serve the people of Morgana as hunting companions and war beasts. No doubt a few of them could easilly bring down a man if given half a chance. The people were primed to expand and thrive out across the land, with all the protection they could desire!

None would say that the Fire god was not fickle, nor that he was not easily enraged. Who's fault this war was would only be clear to each side, and recorded according to who won. That's how it always happened. Chath was restless, and his people saw this. Their God stood, vigilant, gazing north, waiting for anything to dare and set foot inside HIS desert. Twas not from fear, mind you... no... it was hope. Hope drove their God onward, hope that peace could be secured with his sisters, hope that Bellegar would be foolish enough to press his fiery brother further. His was a rage that begged to be unleashed, and if any were truly a God or Goddess of war, it was he. During the day, the sun burned bright, and Chath oversaw the construction of his temple, the first stone structure, gained from the digging done in the mountains. As they mine, they gain materials. This place would be large enough that Chath would be able to rest there, and regain his strength if needed... but also to grant his people an audience with their god. When the temple was finished, he would reward it's builders with rest, and the first audiences with their God. He would thank each of them, one at a time, and cure any sickness, any ailment that was plaguing them or their family. A feast would be in order for Obsidia, a small celebration... but that was in the near future, not now. Those were only plans!

For now, Chath had quite a bit on his plate. First, Morganna appearing once more to request a few things. It happened as Chath was inspecting the damage. The God of Fire was surprisingly somber in that moment, the imprisonment of his Templar weighing heavily upon his very soul, but such a thing would not be as noticeable to mortals as it would his ethereal sister. "Your terms are more than acceptable, Morganna. You can see that I will need healing knowledge in the years to come... yet I do not wish to drag you into this spat between my brother and I. Were you to, indeed, give your blessing to ensure the safety of Katar, and send healers to teach my people at the shrine that I will gladly have constructed there for you, then I would be most pleased. In turn, I will do everything within my power to keep the horrors of war away from your people. I will not request that my soldiers take refuge in your lands, but the one thing I ask of you is to build a shrine in Oceania. The Suo-ata are a beastly race, but they are my race, and will steer clear of a city containing a shrine of Chath. For smaller villages, something smaller would be sufficient. If the Suo-ata truly expand that far, I will provide alternate means of protection, and ensure their numbers dwindle. You have my word on each of these things stated, so long as you do not turn an aggressive eye towards me or my people."

So, the Goddess of Water would have a guarantee of peace, and the shrine that she wanted, so long as Chath could have the same. His people would meet hers with suspicion, as was common in the desert, but under Chath's watchful eye, a shrine would be constructed in Katar, so that fishermen may ask Morganna her blessing. Eventually, his people grow accustomed to the idea. Obsidia was a different story, but they could certainly understand the need for a Water Shrine in Katar. Further north, they would begin to rebuild Fort Dagga, but in a different way. A siege had begun, and they needed to fortify. Instead of building up, they dig into the ground, building underground storage spaces for supplies, underground homes, and so on... reinforcing the dirt walls with wood and stone. Forges were established, and with the God of Fire's blessing, they did proceed to make arms and armor. Bows had been seen, but now that they had wood, they could make them. Thus began his people's training with long range weapons. Armor was created from what metal could be traded for lumber. It was light armor, but armor nonetheless, and in time it would improve. To make boats in Katar, lumber was floated downstream, through Obsidia, and to Katar. Escorts would accompany each bundle, but in time, an outpost system evolved. Each was placed within sight of the other, so that no gaps were allowed, and communication would be possible from Dagga to Obsidia at nearly the speed of sound. Rudimentary systems of communication were developed. His people discovered, eventually, that the oils of some desert plants burned slowly, but brightly, and so lanterns were created, and used to flash different messages at night across this warning system. In time, more complex messages could be sent. During the day, hand signals would be used. Thus, the desert people invented sign language, a method of silent communication.

Meanwhile, an Acolyte (the position formerly known as "Prophet", changed to avoid confusion) was making his trek through the desert, in search of the hidden shrine. A very small Oasis had sprung up around the shrine in the middle of nowhere, but he would not reach that just yet. No, a few of the minerals he had been experimenting with were in a pouch. These minerals, for whatever reason, burned quickly, and hot. If he could accelerate that process, the destructive power would be increased one-hundred fold. Alas, there was something missing. On this journey of discovery, he would become frustrated, tossing the bag of minerals away into a less sandy, cracked part of the desert. The result was something he never expected. An explosion. Suddenly, the shrine didn't matter anymore. He moved to investigate, eventually tasting the substance that had acted as the final catalyst... salt. When he returned home, he would begin experimenting anew... salt now in his pack to complete the formula, but it would take time to perfect and weaponize. Luckily, he shared this discovery... ensuring that it was completed should his experimentation prove to be his demise.

So much was going on in the world, and so much of it was because of war. In Obsidia, they followed Dagga's example, digging into the sand, using water to create a more manageable substance, and digging. The people would do this to their own homes as they could, and the extra earth was moved to the north of the city, starting to hide it from view as the dune grew. Stone was used to line the new underground homes, and some even kept digging further, creating tunnels, or digging more and more deeply, perhaps discovering caves, water, minerals, and so forth. The amount of digging was limited, however. If they dug too much, the city would become unstable. So, Each household was limited to one tunnel to a neighbor's home, and most worked together to provide a way to reach one side of the city to another. The tunnels generally didn't go directly through a home, but rather right past it, connecting by a very, very short tunnel. Doors or cloth kept privacy, and various locks were being created. Marks were put on doors to identify who's home it was... the start of a written language. Things were starting to progress in the desert ever so slightly, even with the war looming over the people. It was not so hard to remember a time that they were simply warring tribes, stories passed down through generations of the Dragon God that forced the tribes together, and brought the people more than they would have done themselves in a very long time.

War. ...Such a heavy word to be used so lightly... but a burden that the desert people would bear with dignity and strength. Their enemies were honor-less curs, and would be shown no mercy. Templars made their way to the tribes of Suo-ata, the lizard-men heeding the words of their god's people. They were not to consume the Meridians, as they were poisonous. A mammoth, however, would go a long way towards repopulating. So, as quickly as each lizard was slain, more filled the gap it left. With communication now open, the Suo-ata would start to become more organized, less of a mob and more of a force. Strength in numbers had it's advantages, but they would never truly be an army. No... they were the cannon fodder. One or two tribes would be relocated to the other side of the eastern-most mountain range, a living barrier between the Meridians and Dagga. Chath would be busy seeing to the construction of schools, the temple, blacksmiths, the mine, and the shipment of weapons and armor north, armor with the symbol of Chath in it. The lightning had been replaced by a more complex symbol. An S shape, the top and bottom separate from the center, and framing the center image, a small dot with rudimentary flames roiling around it. It symbolized all that Chath stood for. Honor, determination, justice. It would become a more commonly seen image. Focus was given to metalworking, improving technique and forge construction to purify metals, and perhaps even begin smelting iron ore. It would be some time before they mastered Iron, and longer before they create steel.

Thus, with his people doing well enough, learning and teaching, it was time to tell them of their purpose in this war. Temple or no, he would gather his people, they would feel the fury of their god burning in their chests, begging to be focused and unleashed

"A brother in faith is held within Bellegar's seat of power... that stark, toiling city he calls home. My brother in godhood would have my Templar believe I have abandoned him... I saw as he saw. The lies told to him are an insult to me... to you. He showed a decimated Obsidia, and yet HERE WE ARE. He said I abandoned my faithful while he keeps your brother from me, we will show him where he is wrong. We will shake the very earth with our rage at these lies. Obsidia demands justice for the death inflicted, for if we allow one to die, another will die without purpose. We will not back away, we will demand freedom and respect from the God of Earth! The price of this war is simple... I will have my Templar back, and one of Bellegar's commanding officers... as he lacks any faithful enough to spread his word... We will then forge northward, securing a path through the mountains, so that we may learn from Arianrhod's followers... nothing more, and nothing less. Bellegar fortifies and hides in his mountains. We will not hide, we will not lose. Morganna allows us to drink her waters and consume the bounty of the ocean. Her kindness will be repaid... Arianrhod will prove a valuable ally, so in a gesture of good will, construct a shrine to the God of Air. Praise her, so that she might see your anger and sorrow, and know why you fight. Let her see your wondrous, sharpened minds. Let us end this war quickly, my dear faithful... the sooner it is over, the less sorrow there will be, and the sooner Tyrol may come home and heal."

Again, there was much going on. Chath dealt with his worshipers on a very personal level. He began to get to know his people, their thoughts and feelings even when they did not pray. Despite his fearsome behavior and, at times, cruelty... he would become cherished and admired by those that worshiped him. There would even be times that he accompanied the group escorting supplies floated downriver, both for security, and simply to bestow such an honor to the guardians of that shipment. Moral would be kept high, and the fearsome god would be endeared to his people. All this time, supplies were gathered, weapons were forged and invented, and his people prepared for war. Siege machines were not yet possible for them, due to limited amounts of lumber and metal. Not until gathering had progressed would they be able to build such things. For now, they would instead train to become the most dangerous warriors on the face of the planet, and develop advanced tactics and coordination of their forces. A well organized, tiny force could, under the proper conditions, defeat a much larger force. Intel and the environment would become crucial. Hopefully, his sisters would both build shrines to honor his wishes. He made it clear that he waged war for justice, despite how Bellegar may misinterpret his intentions and actions, and wished for a quick end for peace, and to prevent his people from suffering. Hence, the desire for knowledge and safety from his sisters.

War could not be fought without supplies and it seemed the fire god Chath had realised this in full, diplomacy and trade were as much weapons of war as spears and swords. A deal was struck with Morgana and the people of Katar set work on building the shrine just as it decreed. For the fishermen worshipping a god of water was an easy thing to understand, the ocean often having such power over men. However the request of Morgana building shrines was new and it remained to be seen how she would take such a change of terms. Plans for a temple were drawn up and Obsidia began construction of the great and mighty building, such a thing would take a great deal of time to finish though. Much like Morgana's great temple it would be finished at a later date.

Still Chath's people built with a ferver that would of even impressed Bellegar if he wasnt intent on destroying them, not only were the foundations laid for the temple but Fort Dagga was secured and reinforced. Not only building high walls but tunnels and underground cellars to provide better shelter for the people there. It was an impressive construction to defend the Fortress City. Not only the buildings though but tribes of Suo-ata were directed around the mountains to act as a screen for Dagga.

The Suo-ata took to this with glee, new open plains opened up to them and they quickly expanded up the mountain range and into the surrounding lands. Claiming new hunting grounds for their savage lizardman tribes. They even had a near miss with the wind goddess tribe, who spotted them and had to flee for the fear of being eaten by the brutes. They were fine though, the nomands were masters of hiding in the terrian they knew so well.

Trade sprang up though down the river, uniting Katar with Dagga as lumber and supplies were traded up and down. Which ment rafts and simple boat constructions for the people, not to mention wood to fuel the forges of war. Metal could not be smelted without sufficant fuel to burn after all and with that fuel the weapons and armour Chath needed to supply Dagga could be made. It was an impressive system that gave his people the edge they needed to survive.

Obsidia's tunnel plans were only done on simple homes for the most part, their people were too busy working on the temples. Acolytes overseeing the construction and directing the work with their keen minds, but the people did begin to understand and evolve their language and writting skills. Glyphs and symbols being the start before it developed into a proper written word. His Acolytes oversaw more than building though as they made an impressive discovery. Rudamentry explosives, a black powder that was both dangerous and powerful and perhaps even a potential weapon. Although this was far from completedly, his people were still experimenting how to use it properly and how to collect the salt "peter" from the desert.

The people rallied to the gods cause although they were confused at his latest orders, worship of other gods had been on pain of death. The instruction to build and worship the wind goddess name was confusing to many of them and many refused. However a shrine was built and some did praise it, giving power to the goddess and entering into some of the peoples hearts. Although many were still not comfortable with the idea of duel worship, fearing death or beliving that Chath was the only true god. A faint social exclusion had begun to form around those who prayed at the shrine as well as Chath's.

More importantly though the Suo-ata had Templar's among them enforcing their belief for the tribal lizards had reverted to an existance of fighting one another and constant death and birth amongst them. Their respect of the fire god was not the same as belief with without the templars presense they could well wander from the path. Still they expanded slowly, their own infighting keeping their numbers under control but even so, they had become a huge force. Skirmishes with ant patrolls were becomming a daily occurance and the whole area was fast become a constant war zone.

(Power comes to Chath, level 3. Morgana level 2, Arianrhod level 5.)

The goddess of air was not entirely kind, nor was she forgiving. Little happened around her people that she was not aware of, and certainly no pleas for help went unheard. She had wished for peace to reign for her people for a bit longer, long enough to build them in strength and let them become the true hunters of the night and people that could keep some relative kindness in their lives. But... things were changing. She had known it would happen but that didn't make it much better.

First came the call from her harpies. It... displeased her more than a bit that Belleger had seen fit to place his new creations so near to the winged devils of hers but even she could understand why he had done so. Even so, her harpies had been allowed their freedom to do whatever they would like, whether it be to breed or create things or even eat those that came too near to them. They were protected by her and only had but a few orders which were but to worship her and to defend others that did. She could not simply let them be bothered by the creatures of the earth god that dwelled so near. Plans were formulating however. Plots of necessity.

Such plots came even closer to full fruition when she heard of how the suo-ata were marching in a different path. And how they had frightened one of her tribes. The fact that her people were smart enough to flee before harm could be done was something that she was eternally grateful for. But it would not happen again. She would not allow it to happen again. And thus her decision was made.

First she sent word to her people through the birds they carried. Before anything was done she would tell all of them of her plans, including the harpies. They would not be kept ignorant. From the birds she told them of what would be done, letting her words echo out from them on gusts of wind. "Hard times are coming to us. Let it be known that we are not going to war. We are merely going to defend ourselves. Chath, the fire god wishes to ally himself with us and yet he recklessly sends these lizardmen past us. This cannot stand. Belleger, the earth god is the head of this war. We will aid him and further our own cause at the same. There will still yet be hope for the fire god but only if he listens. For now, I need the best archers to prepare to aid Belleger's defense. I will speak to him and if all goes according to plan some will be sent to his southern fort, Fort Ordo. The others, as well as some of the harpies will be sent to aid in the building and fortifying of a new fort to be built at the pass where the Suo-ata are attempting to break through. Also, those that go will provide food from the beakalo for them as well. As for the harpies, part of this will be to ensure more breathing room between you and his mountain creatures. There will be a boundary between you should all go well. I will not forsake any of you. Know that above all else as you go to fight. When all is prepared, you will go to aid and I will do what I can to prevent as much fighting as possible. Those who travel to further explore and expand may continue to do so and yet always keep an eye on the air in case you must return. Further, should you come across lizardmen do not go recklessly into battle with them. Kill them as you see them since their numbers are getting out of hand but do so with subtlety. Throw stones into their midst to confuse them. Attack at night. Do not put yourself in harm's way. We will stand strong, and yet move with the flow of change my children. I will guard all of you."

So it was that she told all that worshipped her entirely what was planned. For her part she first sent warning to the Earth God, sending forth one of the birds to ask permission for her to visit him directly in full respect of his area and not wishing to step on any toes. Once allowed to do so, she would come to him even if only as a swirling cloud, similar to the one that her people had first seen when she'd come to them so long ago and yet she stayed far above him to speak. "I come to you with a proposition. The lizardmen march on you, and they attempt to pour in through the pass that borders south of my harpies. I will give to you the food and miscellanious supplies needed, as well as the strength of the air if you would like to build a fort there that will protect both of us. My harpies and archers will aid there to prevent the passing of the Suo-ata. I will help in keeping them from spilling into your lands. I will even send some of my archers to your southern fort, the Fort Ordo. All I ask in return is a shrine at the new fort as well as a solid, blank border between my harpies and your mountain creatures. Have some of your creations vacate the area the separates them. I offer you equal aid, my brother and I hope above all else that you accept." Should he agree to her terms then she would immediately prepare all that was needed.

More still had to be done however. She could feel the tingles of worship in the south, in Chath's main city Obisidia. Their hearts called to her and she would come. There was much to speak of to the fire god and she would. She did the same kindness she had given to Belleger however and sent a bird first, though in this case it was to tell him that she was coming. She didn't ask permission for a very simple reason. He had not done so when he'd deigned to send his Suo-ata so close to her nomads. So it was that she emerged from the shrine itself that had been erected in her name shortly after the bird delivered it's warning. Gently she began spilling up from it in a fount of clouds and feathers for all to see. She was nothing so solid as her brothers and was certainly a different thing for these people of the desert to see before them. She rose up entirely however until she was once more a swirling vortex above all with the shifting head of feathers and scales that she bore at times. She knew her arrival would attract Chath to come speak to her. If not, then she would seek him out. Either way her warning would be delivered. "I have given you the hope of trade between our people. I have even given you the faintest offerings of peace and yet you do this. You send your lizardmen so perilously close to my nomads without even the smallest warning or offer to keep them from attacking. I will defend my own before all else. Already I have told my to begin culling them since their numbers are so vast. After all, you must care little for them if you send them so far from you. I give you one last chance however. Pull your Suo-ata back from the northern areas and I will leave all in peace. I have offered to give you so much and yet you answer me with chaotic lizardmen at the borders near my lands. This offense will not stand, but you do have a chance still. Do as I ask with your lizards. And further, allow any here who worship me continue to do so and spread, even allowing them to retreat to my lands to the north should they wish. But only those who worship in my name will be given that honor."

She let his people hear of how he had betrayed the small bit of trust she'd given them. She let them hear how she had shown nothing but kindess, particularly for her people. She let them see just what sort of gentle, yet firm goddess she was. With the warning however, she left. She let them all be and returned to her people in the north to have them prepare for all that was coming. The would gather food, the would gather hide. They would ensure that they were ready.

The peaceful times of the second age were slowly dying, as the gods expanded and moved closer to one another tensions began to rise. Even those who had kept to themselves could no longer afford to do so, or would not be able to for long. It seemd Arianrhod had finially come to terms with this and was making plans to defend herself.

A pact was forged with Bellegar to secure both their fronts to the danger of the uncontrolled Suo-ata which were truly becomming a scourge. Plans were made for a fort to cover the eastern pass through the mountains that both the gods shared, to help defend against rampaging lizardmen. Plans were also made to ease the tension between the harpies and the Moridians, the ants which had been attacked on occassion by those winged devils.

It seemed that both gods understood the power of cooperation but wether this was an alliance or merely a deal of convience remained to be seen. What was sure was that a fort in the east would help secure the valley and plains that lead straight to Agron, but also shield the nomands from some of the wrath of Suo-ata. Should it come to that. They already had their trading post which stood as a beacon for divine cooperation, prospering for both of them.

Fort Ordo received a group of travellers too, a hundred archers from the nomandic lands. Gifted shots with the bow and a worthy addition to the defense of the fortress. Many marvels were seen by the wind goddess people, they saw giant barbarian men and even actual giants. Strange bug like beings that skuttled about also, adding to the fortifications of the buildings. The Nomands had never seen such things and marvelled at the power of the earth god, some even stopping to pay tribute at the shrine he had errected within the fort out of respect. Before they began to practice firing arrows off the walls of the fort although they quickly tired of this, it wasnt long before the Nomands ventured out to see first hand the terrible might of the Suo-ata.

South of the fort was a warzone, battle could be heard at all hours of the day. Skirmishes with ants and lizardmen had full out errupted into constant wars. Some lizardmen tribes repeatedly rushing up the side of rocky faces to meet Moridian defenders who hurled rocks down at them and spat acid into the ranks. It was a vile place and nomands for the first time were fearful of the wars that were heading to their lands, which only furthered their resolve to fight hard. Knowing that their actions may well prevent the lizards every getting up north.

They ambushed many too, popping out of the darkness and cutting down whole groups of lizards with their arrows and sneak tactics. The lizardmen were savage creatures, natural predators in the forest. But the nomands of Arianrhod were expect hunters, out matching Bellegar's rangers with simple ease. They used trap after fient after trap to trick and confuse the dull beasts. Still it mattered little, the area was infested with them.

Nomands near the harpies also took up this game on their gods orders, venturing south to begin hunting the most expansive of the tribes close to them. Picking them off one by one. They culled them best they could and never suffered losses, their ghost like tactics easilly outwitting the beasts. But it was also a futile gesture, it merely slowed the lizards. Their design ment that they were perfectly caperble of rebuilding their losses, they didnt even realise or notice they were being hunted.

With her people busy though it seemed the god of air had something to say to Chath too. Her appearance indeed was noted by the fire god and she would not doubt hear his words before she left his city. Belief was a powerful thing, but also a dangerous thing. Introducing a shrine into Obsidia had given Arianrhod a small foothold in the desert domain and she was using it to full effect. Several more people flocking to her shrine at her appearance. Though it remained to see how consequences of such brazen action would unfold. One thing was sure though, gods didnt bow to other gods and as the power of wind grew it seemed she was flexing her etheral muscle.

The greatest strength of the Meridian's were that none truly died amongst their rank. The experience of each individual was forever part of the hive collective, and in that sense they were in a state of eternal reincarnation, as the next generation was given the knowledge and experience of their predecessors. It was thanks to this shared consciousness that the Meridians could develop so quickly. Already thrall's and warriors alike was receiving a small amount of training to better defend themselves and as each individual improved with time, so did the hive as a whole. Hordes of soldiers, along with thrall's were sent against Bellegar's warriors, as a new kind of proving. This one focused on fighting in as a group, rather then individuals. Lethal force was absolutely forbidden of course, as in times of war, casualties during training would be unacceptable.

The Soldiers in the meantime was given fine armor, weaponry, and was taught by Bellegar himself how to fight. He instructed them how to use their superior speed as a advantage, to always be on the move, and keep the enemy guessing. He also taught them to fight like Meridian's not men. Men only had four limbs, Meridian's had eight, and they would do well to use them.

The Pretorians was also prepared for battle. As they had the most freedom amongst the Meridian hive, many of them were allowed to leave their nest to join the army. It meant little in the end, as new Pretorians would be born to take their place before they'd climbed down the mountain.

As part of the Army, they were allowed the same rights as everyone else. They were given weapons and armor, and they took part of the proving. Though due to their gigantic size, which even dwarfed the Thorin, they were in a league of their own, fighting against other Pretorians for honor. Though as special treats, groups of warriors would be pitted against single Pretorians within the provings at times.

But as one Pretorian was greater then any one man, Bellegar changed the terms of championship status. To become a champion, one did not need to be the strongest, but the most versatile. Win or lose, if a man proved himself worthy of becoming a champion, they'd be rewarded the title by Bellegar himself. This did not mean Pretorian's were not allowed to be champions, they would simply not achieve the title through brute strength alone.

As for the humans, they continued to think of ways to improve on their armor, and weaponry. Their next advancement in the field of range combat, came to them thanks to Bellegar. The god of flames liked to take refuge in the sky, and so Bellegar had to adapt accordingly. Taking the base design of a ballista, he made himself a crossbow, and showed his people how to make a replica in their own size. The crossbow was far more powerful then a average bow, easier to use, yet slower to reload. Though not for Bellegar, who's divine strength could pull the sting back with ease.

He then began to order his Thrall's to hollow out large boulders. The boulders were then to be filled with acid, and sealed up. The people of the mountain did not have explosives but this would be a suitable substitute. Once launched, the boulder would shatter on impact, releasing large pools of acid. Though unlike a explosion, the danger would still remain long after the initial impact. In theory at least. Until proper field testing, the acid filled boulders would never outnumber the ordinary ones, just in case Bellegar overestimated their effectiveness.

Smaller rocks were also to be hollowed out, and filled with acid to be hurled over the walls by slings and finally cauldrons were to be filled with acid, and stationed near the walls, for when the enemy finally reached that far.

In the mean time, tunnels were already in the process of being made to provide a quick trade route between the various hives and provide a quick means of reinforcement. The mountains were also to be equipped with additional siege weapons at key locations were they ever attacked.
Fort Ordo was to be reinforced further as well, the walls should be built higher and thicker to assure they'd be neither climbed or broken. Furthermore barb wire fences were raised, and ditches were dug around the surrounding fort ground to slow the enemies advance.

To defend the mountains, Bellegar ordered the edges of the mountains to be carved so steep, they were deemed impassable by men. But of course, there was little that could stand in the way of a Meridian.

The Hive Queens in the mean time was busy with the talk of war. Branka and Bellgoth, the two sisters to the east were all in all happy with their assault. Each individual Hive Queen could spawn up to 3,500 eggs per day, so the filthy lives they lost meant little in the long run. Though to sustain such numbers, Bellegar introduced new creatures to the earth. There was the more common worms and insects, which while small contained numberless vital proteins. And the Nugs. Small hairless, fast breeding rodents who dug themselves deep into the earth for food. Further more he declared the Suo-ata beasts, and thus was to be treated as such. Though frowning upon cannibalism, Bellegar allowed his people to feed on Suo-ata flesh from this day on.

Sustenance now dealt with, Bellegar was free to expand. Though much like the common ant, Meridians were not designed for expansion. They fortified one location, and their population never grew beyond the Hive Queen’s control of that location. They could however spawn new Hive Queens to expand in their place.

Veran, and Dalo, daughters of Ashra, and Uro of the western coast, was sent to the mountains near Fort ordo. Veran was to focus her entire hive on soldiers and a unusual large number of praetorians to hold the front line. While Dalo, under Veran's protection, spawned a large number of thrall's to work around the keep, and gather resources, both for Fort ordo and Veran.

Razza, and Sokka, daughters of Bellegoth and Branka of the eastern mountains, were stationed close to Branka to aid her effort against the now fortified Dagga. With the Suo-ata crawling over the land, it was safer for them to create tunnels leading to Dagga. But if they were to go to the effort of digging that far, Bellegar did not intend on wasting that effort on mere raids. Once the Thrall's reached Dagga, they were instead to build a whole series of tunnels around the buildings, until it weakened the structural integrity.

Though Sokka, just like Veran, was to focus her hive on soldiers and praetorians, while her sisters provided the supplies needed to sustain herself.

Meanwhile, Leandra, doughter of Oren of the northen mountain was taken into the tunnels under fort Ordo. What became of her there, only the Hive Queens and Bellegar knew.

Then, one fateful night in Suo-ata land, a man appeared before a party of Suo-ata. The Lizardmen readied for the attack, but the man stopped them. "I was sent here by the great Dragon.“
He said, as his hand went to his cloak. As the cloak fell to the ground, the man revealed the red patterns that marked him as a follower of Cath. In truth it was little more then paint, tough in the dim light it would be next to impossible to tell for sure. "I bring words from our god. The great Dragon." He said in proud tone. Though in truth he brought word from Bellegar. "You have been deceived! The men who now leads you are heretics! Followers of Bellegar." He spat at the last part of his sentence. "You do not honestly believe the great Dragon would send mere men to lead the great Suo-ata, do you?" The man laughed, with a wide grin of amusement on his face, as he shook his head. "We are but pawns to be used in his name. It is you, the Suo-ata who are favored in his eyes, made in his very image. Why else would he send you here alone? Hmmm?" He paused for a moment to let the question sink into their thick heads. "Because Only you could be trusted to forfill such a monumental task. So why would he send men now? He wouldn’t… It is a trick by Bellegar to mislead you. To make you weak!“

All sense of amusement melted from the man, in a instant. "As indeed he have... The great Dragon wants these blasphemous heretic's dead! And any Suo-ata who would think to defend them will face a similar fate. You are then to continue the war with the other tribes. Purge the weak, and let the great Dragon see which one amongst you are the strongest. Only he may be allowed to lead the Suo-ata." The man reached into his pouch for a item given to him by his god. "The great Dragon commands it!“ The item shattered on the ground, followed by a blinding flash. By the time the Suo-ata’s vision returned, the man was gone, leaving only a small burned patch where he had once stood.

Fire was beyond Bellegar’s control. Yet elements of the earth could make a suitable replacement, enough to fool a dimwitted Suo-ata. The man couldn’t help but to smile in amusement as he ran back towards the fort. Only time would tell if the Suo-ata would believe the Prophet who had appeared out of nowhere, with a warning of deception, only to then vanish in a divine fire so bright it blinded the mortal eye.

But regardless the outcome, Bellegar planed to strike against Obsidia itself. The Sau-ata were still in his way but Branka had access to the river, which eventually lead down into Obsidia. If he was to redirect the river, Obsidia would once again run dry, and not only that. He could enlist the aid of his sister to provide another obstacle for his brother.

Gathering the priestesses that was kept in the fort, Bellegar lead them up the mountain, to the fall the river of Obsidia originated from. Some of the women made holy gestures, at the sight. Sense they were stationed in fort Ordo, they'd neither had access to a shrine nor any larger body of water, which was said to be the embodiment of their goddess. “Greetings sister.” Bellegar said, starring down into the the running stream, knowing it would carry his word to Morgana. “I have come to offer you a gift.” He said with a respectful bow. He was standing before her people after all, and so thought he owed her that respect. “I have seen how the people of the desert defies you. But I have come up with a solution, that I believe you will find to your satisfaction.”

With a quick gesture, thrall's appeared seemingly out of nowhere, and began to work on the rock around the fall. “For generations, many of my people have offered you worship. Yet in these lands they lack a shrine, or any sign of your divine virtue. Still they have remained loyal to you, and for filled every duty I have assigned them. As a reward, I will give them this river, as a place where they may offer their worship to their goddess.”

He paused before adding. “There is of course one troublesome little detail. The Suo-ata will not rest until my people and I are dead. Sadly your priestesses will be caught in the middle of this. That is why I believe it would be in your best interest, to send your Wateron's to defend your worshipers and keep the Suo-ata from crossing the river. This would not be an act of war on Cath of course. Merely a means to defend those faithful to you. Surely no one can deny you that right.”

If Morgana answered favorably to Bellegar's request, the dam would be kept open just long enough for the Waterons to travel up the stream, before it was redirected towards the west. And to assure Cath would not simply fly over the mountain and break the dam, Bellegar told Branka to build him a shrine here, which would provide protection from the fire god, and a place where she and her sisters could offer their respect.

It was not long there after, that the message from Arianrhod reached Bellegar. He needed little time for consideration before answering. “Very well, if you stand for the supplies, I shall have Oren build you your fortress, and the shrine you desire, as well as one for myself, so that my warriors there may offer their worship. I will then instruct Oren to lead her brood away from the neighboring mountain of your harpies.“

Bellegar wasted no time putting the archers to work. They were to train his warriors in the way of the bow, and through the Thrall's, the Hive Queens were also to learn the way of archery. Bellegar also wanted his people to compete with their guests, and allowed them to take part of the proving's if they wished. But sense they were better archers then fighters, he implemented a yet another kind of proving, utilizing range weapons. The general goals of these challenges usually evolved, who had the superior aim and who could fire their arrows the quickest and still manage to hit their target.

The thrall's due to their lack of mobility did not make the most ideal of front line fighters. But they still had the keen sight of all Meridian's, and their strong powerful bodies, could make them serve well as defensive archers, and soon unique bows were to be made for the thrall's.

Though these bows looked like any other, aside from their larger size, they were specificity made for the Thrall's and their inhuman strength. Only the best of men could ever hope to pull its string, but the Thrall's had no issue with it, and soon they would be able to rain down righteous vengeance on their enemy. For even if their aim was flawed, a thousand arrows aimed at a large force was bound to hit something.

Bellegar was prepairing for war, full out war it seemed. His preperations though did not match those of his fiery brother, who massed up soilders of a savage race and trained armies. Bellegar's preperations were those of a defender, he dug in his posistion and his people became set on not leaving it. With an army holding nearly every mountain, the Meridian's insect men combined with Fort Ordo becomming a bastion of strenght and power. All manner of defenses added and equipped to it, ranged weapons also. His people were still not fine archers but a crossbow was a differant matter. Its point and aim, simpler style was more natural to the people and they respected the power of the thing. Still it was deemed a weapon for the weak and those of low skill and build. The warriors of Agron mainly refused to use them but the artisans of Highcliff took to them quickly, often customising and carving patterns into the stock of their weapons.

New divine commands too, not just work but also how to treat the enemy. Surprisingly his people had no quarrel with treating the Suo-ata as beasts for they were not far above them, hunting and eating them seemed relatively natural to most. Not to mention they were seen as a blight, their rappid expansion and unnatural. That combined with the new life Bellegar added to the mountains, the grubs and the Nugs ment that food was now plentiful and ample to supply the area.

Work was hardest, the ants were in a constant battle in some areas to fend off the disorganised but aggressive rabble that was the lizardmen. Carving the mountain sides was slow work because of it, many a time it being abandoned due to assaults by the hostile forces. It was done to a degree though, the access to the mountains limited so that it could be assaulted at all sides but rather specific walkways and rumbled routes. Fighting on these was too feirce for any proper work although it did protect the mountains reverse sides.

It seemed though that Bellegar wanted to try his hand at deception and abusing the systems Chath had set in place for his lizardmen Suo-ata. The trick worked, to some degree at least. Only one Templar was killed, by surprise. Which then errupted into a full blown tribal war, two tribes of lizardmen carving each other apart in the confusion before the real Templars could instil order back into the unruly creatures. A quick display of fire quelled them enough to talk reason into them along with safe words for the Templars to stop such a repeat occurance. The Suo-ata were not bright but it did not mean precautions could not be taken. Especially to stop the same trick happening twice.

Though it seemed Bellegar had come up with several plans, his Thralls upon the mountain working furiously to redirect the river. A somewhat cruel but also clever way to deprive his enemy of a vital resource, however it remained to be seen if the water god would allow such an afford to her rivers and waterways. She too profited from them and the respect that she gained from followers like Chath's. What was clear though was that the river started in the mountains and after a spiral path was cut it had been successfully redirected and a shrine emplaced around it. The river to Obsidia had not run completely dry though but its flow was now a shallow muddy track compaired to its normal body of water, hitting a foul blow. A charade of peace was gone and Bellegar's plans had become offensive in a sinister way.

His deal with Arianrhod was fully underway though, a pact forged to buid a fortress between the two mountain ranges to house both their people. They began building immedietly but it would not be completely for some time, a journey was included after all. However the hive was moved and a border mountain established between the two factions, giving the harpies the space they had prayed for and earning Arianrhod more joy from her followers. The new proving was set up in Highcliff, their preferance for crossbows made it a natural choice but dispite Bellegars efforts the bow was just not a weapon they enjoyed. They far prefered the mechanical like mechanisms of the crossbow, happy to leave bows to the nomands of wind.

The provings took place as usual and a new warchief was ellected, this time a Thorrin. The silent and stoic leader who barely spoke, more often rellying on a giant stone sword he had taken to using to do his talking. The people were set for war and like their new leader they had a resolve as strong as the earth itself.

Dangerous times were knocking on the door of mankind, no matter whom they worshiped. As far from the battlefienld as the water people were, they had news and tales coming from the land of Bellegar and Chath continuously and, needless to say, it did make them feel uneasy. They trusted their patron goddess, no doubt, yet they could feel the cold breeze of war coming closer to their own lands and families. The impact this fact had on them all was that they had become even more fierce in their training with bow and arrow, constantly doing their very best to improve both their aim and their weapons. Thus, they had created from the simple bow, a more refined and much deadlier form of bow. The long bow. Its range was definetly bigger and the piercing ability of the arrows was much improved as well and now able to pierce some metal armors. The heads of the arrows were metal now, made as sharp as lightning. The crocodile companion of these archers were increasingly obedient and well trained, and with it, even more efficient in the aspects of slowing or even killing a target.

However, not all of the population took archery as their primary war skill. A small number of them took a great liking to melee fighting and thanks to the craftsmen that had evolved along nicely like all the rest, they would be custom make armors and weapons. These fighter’s particular favorites were the lance and shield. These lances were taller than their wielder by a half of their own height and the shields barbed with poisonous pricks. The Lady Morgana had made them into a careful population. She had made sure not to take the blessed peace of their lands for granted and always prepare, improve... evolve.

The craftsmen were also improving the quality of the buildings in all three of the water cities, making them resilient and larger than what they normally built. They now developed a way of treating the woods they used in order to be quite fireproof by using a special oil from a species of fish found on Morgana’s shores. Taking the model from Bellegar’s homeland from which the water people received letters continuously written by the healers in his land, the craftsmen, masons and builders commenced erecting high walls around the cities of Oceania, Linae and Dew-neth. However, having so many plains at their own disposal, the water people starting using them closer to their full potential, growing weats and vegetables that now filled their tables alongside the fish and beakalo flesh. They would start to regularly hold feasts in honor of their kind goddess at the feet of the temple, praise her wisdom and thanking her for the peace and well-being that enveloped her lands.

The temple in Oceania now held a special addition, a structure built as part of the temple, that was used as a school where the elite of water people could learn to read and write, where maps were created and strategies discussed. It was also here that the administrators of the three cities would meet and discuss new ideas of crops, buildings, weaponry, armors and trading, then taking these new ideas and putting them into practice when they returned into their cities and nearby villages.

A new form of travel had been developed as well between Oceania and Linae and that was by sea. A part of the fishermen took a major liking to building means of water transportation that quickly became quite efficient. They built larger boats with sails instead of ores that would carry merchandise from one city to the other. Since some of the travels took place at night, a star guide was slowly being developed that would insure the boats followed their routes, even in the dark. The first astronomists were developing. For trading between Oceania and Dew-neth, however, a different kind of boat was created that was longer and slimer, perfect to be going up and down the rivers.

The priestesses did not rest. They made sure that no idleness was shown towards the young shrines in the new cities. In that sense, they named a few more special builders and craftsmen to raise temples in the place of the shrines in Linae and Dew-neth located in the center of each of the cities. They would be ornate with the best of pearls that were now the most respected of adornments since it represented their goddess so well, the new temples to be were to hold statues of magnificent beauty that would picture Morgana and, now, there would even be murals and songs of adoration decorating the walls.

The Lady Morgana appeared to her people in each city and watched over them without interruption, and even though there were many whispers of war in the neighboring lands, the presence of Leviathan that patrolled from one city to the others would ensure and make the water people feel safe and at ease.
Her fiery brother had requested a shrine of his in each settlement of Moragana, in order to have a sorts of protection against the Suo-ata who were a constant threat to not just her people... but all peoples. Her message to Chath had been this: “My people are NOT defenseless, my brother. And what you ask is too much by any circumstances. You shall not have the shrines. If the Suo-ata are to attack my cities, I –will- consider it an act of aggression from your part. I shall not believe that you, their god and creator, cannot control them and keep them at bay! I do not wish for any of our people to suffer.” And she delivered her message in person in front of her brother and his people, always soft spoken and slightly stretching her arms out in a gesture of peace.

As for her other brother, Bellegar, his gift was much welcome as The Lady Moragana agreed to sending her waterons for the sole purpose of defending those that belonged to her kind. She would make sure her beloved brothers and sisters would feel safe no matter in which land they were. They would make their living at the new built shrine, the waterons always a shadow that assured them the goddess was always with them.
Hunting in the woods, some of Morgana’s people had stumbled across a tribe of nomads that wore feathers and the such as ornaments. Yet, these tribespeople did not seem aggressive, but on the contrary. The hunters immediately asked who they were and what they were doing on these lands and as soon as they presented themselves as the children of the wind goddess, one hunter had been sent back to Dew-neth straight to the temple in construction and the first priestess there to inform of this... meeting. The priestess asked for the Lady Morgana’s wisdom.

“My blessed goddess, what shall we do about these people?”

“Manna, my sister,” the goddess spoke “These people are not to be harmed unless they want to inflict harm upon our brothers and sisters. Yet, they cannot be allowed to roam free in our lands either. Send a representative of the water people and have him explain to them the importance of borders and how they need to be kept. I shall send Leviathan to be present for this meeting as a means of precaution for our hunters and the representative. I am sure my sister will understand. I do not see why we should provoke pain to one another.”

Morgana suggested that a canal be built to the north-west of Dew-neth that would make the border she had sent message of to her sister. It had its root in the river and end in the sea. Part of that border would be the represented by the river itself before it forked around the city. There would be waterons place on that river as immovable sentinels. Wards for the land of water. They were commanded not to kill any of the wind people unless they were the ones to take an aggressive and war-like attitude.

... every pain of her people was a pain to the goddess.

The goddess, Lady Morgana continued to shape and defend her people. Ensuring they prosper and continued to thrive under the protection of the divine matriarch and leviathan. Everything from new weapons and warriors, to the basis of a government and council forming in the prime temple of Oceania. Even boats and rafts hugging the coast along to trade through the oceans although deep water was still beyond the simple vessels, unable to handle the larger swells.

However her peoples work bordered on the immense, they had begun advancing the shrines in their new cities into temples. Monster amounts of work but the people were dedicated, in time they would no doubt succeed. The forest wood was harvested threefold and the workers pay their dues to Bellegar as they send it to the cities for construction. It seemed Morgana had little time for the other gods, save telling them to pay their respects.

Chath received the harshest words, his demand of a shrine in every town refused and perhaps unsurprisingly. Although it seemed the Suo-ata were generating fear and hatred in the other gods, their weariness showing as the lizard scourge spread across the land. It seemed few wanted to share their space with such a violent and dangerous foe.

Bellegar's maneuver of diverting the river partially was a success with the blessing of Morgana behind it, sending her watterons up into the river and mountain. A new river was forged going across the Suo-ata infested mountain pass. Not far from where the Chath's burn line had once stood. A side effect was Chath's river near running dry, Obsidia's water supply taking another huge hit once more only this time at the hands of Bellegar.

Arianrhod's own people were given a meeting too, Leviathan watching over as Morgana laid down the rules of the land as she saw fit. The land was not big enough for everyone to share apparently, lines being drawn in the land. It was a dark time.

Re: [OOC] Elemental Wrath: Rise of the Gods

Added a new section to the rules about godly influence and how it affects the game, buildings like shrines and temples increase belief but also act as focus points for your god. These areas are partially protected against enemy god powers or weaken their presense. However losing them means a loss of power as they store it.

Re: [OOC] Elemental Wrath: Rise of the Gods

http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/2145/godstage1.png earth is now dark grey.**

The basic map for the god game, the areas are colour coded. Yellow is the desert, yellow green fertile plains, brown is scrub land, camo green is forest/mountanous. Bright dark green is jungle/tropical. Light blue lines are rivers and inverted V's are mountains.

Coloured dots refer to god tribes/cities depending on size. Red is fire, brown is earth, light blue water.

The empty circle represents the nomadic boundries of the wind's people since they have no direct settlements.

Hope this helps and we can add more to it in time and make it more detailed!
