Introduction
Past
The king pushed the lifeless bodies away with his foot, a smirk on his face. What fools, to beg for mercy after waging war on them. It amused him, that people could be so stupid. He might rule a smaller kingdom, but he was to be feared, not challenged. He heard a whimper. The king drew his sword quickly. "Who's there?" He demanded, waving his sword around. There was no answer. He crept closer to the source of the noise. He turned a corner, only to find a small girl, only about three years old, crying. She looked up and let out a loud cry, seeing that the sword was close to her throat. She whimpered and looked away, awaiting her fate. The king withdrew his sword and her expression softened. The little girl was bleeding all over. He picked her up, and the girl instantly fell asleep. He took her back to the castle and ordered a servant to clean her up. A few minutes later, there was a knock at his chamber door. The little girl was dressed in a nightgown. "Thank you," She whispered, then hugged his knee. He looked down. He almost yelled at her, but decided not to.
About 16 years later after the great war, many things had happened. The king ended up adopting her, but nothing was really perfect. The king had things to do, places to be. The little girl, who he named Adara, was raised by servants. Unlike her adopted father, she was shy and sweet, while the king led his kingdom with a strong power of authority. Adara was often found out of the castle, riding her horse or something else that got her away from the castle. Of course, the kingdom was cut off from the others in Alabaster, a realm of many kingdoms. THey didn't know about what balanced and ran the world, but maybe that was because it was unbalanced. The element of air was missing, and the rest were either kidnapped or hidden away, so no one could find them. THey didn't need for their powers to be taken advantage of. Now the world is tumbling into chaos, and no one can find the elements.

Holly Knight-Walker
"Giotto, and the pleasures mine." Holly smiled at him, he sure was acting like the proper gentlemen that was for sure. Taking a seat where Giotto had pointed, Holly sighed mentally. It had been a while since she had, had a rest and it felt really good to be off her feet. She had been so intent on reaching the next village she hadn't even had breakfast.
Holly looked up as she heard Giotto's voice again. "The doctor...may be awhile more... A patient just went into labor. " The blonde headed boy cringed obviously feeling uncomfortable about the topic.
He must have had a bad experience, Holly thought tilting her head to the side slightly as she studied him. Deciding on not making him relive the event she left the topic alone.
"Oh! You must be wondering why I'm here." Holly said hitting herself on the forehead for forgetting. "I'm here, because I was wondering if the doctor needed any help. Like maybe an assistant.-" Holly was cut off as she heard a knock at the door.
Thinking it would be rude to answer the door herself Holly stepped back signaling to Giotto that she was done talking for the moment.
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto blinked, as the girl hit her forehead, while saying something. while she was about to continue, she stepped aside as a knock was heard. He offered her an apologetic smile, before Giotto walked back over to the door, opening it to see a man at the entrance. He narrowed his amber eyes, as he took in the new stranger. The newcomer was no doubt a warrior, certain from the way he had a sword and carried himself such as one. How disgusting...he probably killed hundreds of people...what did he want here? He didn't open the door further, and stood in the way.
"May I help you?" His voice was cool, and almost had an edge to it. He didn't want to help soldiers...he never found the need too.
Alexander snorted. "Unless you know where you could find the princess, no," Alexander's voice was cold and harsh, as if he didn't have any emotions to spare. He started to unknot his horse from the small stake in the ground.
Adara jumped off the cloud and walked her horse out the forest. She figured she would take the man's advice, what else was there to do? She heard a voice and kept walking. She suddenly spotted Alexander and squeaked.
He turned around. He snorted and smirked. "There you are," He charged towards her. Adara held her hands out. "Wait!" Suddenly, a blast of air knocked him into the hut. Adara let out a loud squeak. "What the-" Alexander hissed as he grew speed up. Adara pushed air against him. "What the heck are you doing?" He yelled over the rushing wind.
Giotto Jingshi
"For your information, I don't have time for arrogant people such as you. Don't waste my time, and I shall not waste yours." Giotto retorted, icy and sharp. Just as he was about to shut the door, he spotted a familier brown haired girl...it was that princess girl he had talked to in the woods...why did she come back here? She had rejected his offer earlier. He frowned slightly when he saw the other man turn towards the girl.
"There you are,"
He heard the man say. he made the connection, and scowled a bit. So, the king really had sent someone after her like he thought. He was about to intervene, when he felt a burst of air shove him back inside. he crashed into a nearby table, knocking down jars. Where had that come from...could it be the girl caused it? He grunted a bit, before turning to the Holly. "I'm afraid I will have to step out for a moment. Please stay inside Miss Holly." With that said, he grabbed his sword, drawing it easily and quickly was behind the other man with a sword pointed by the side of his neck, right where the jugular vein was. If he even moved, he would slice it with no heisitation. "Drop your sword. A warrior such as yourself would know when you are faced with death." His words were cold and harsh, unlike the tone he usually kept. he could feel his fire power clawing at his mind to come out, and burn this man.
Alexander could hear Adara's voice. "I wouldn't do that if I was you..." Alexander snorted, pushed him in the stomach and grabbed him by the head. He pinned him to the ground, a sword pressed to his chest. Adara watched in horror. Adara held out her hands. "Wait!" Alexander's sword lifted out of his hand. "HOW THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THAT?"
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto's eyes clearly held no fear as he was pushed down by the other man. "It appears, I don't have any other choice..." He thought quietly in his head. Quickly, his hand locked around the other man's hands, and he activated his fire, burning the hands man easily as he pushed him off. The fire around Giotto's hands were scarlet red, but disappeared when the burn was delivered. The other man would feel his own flesh burning off, and nothing else since he made sure the fire was quite hot. He doubted the man would be able to use his hands after this encounter for awhile at least.
He kicked up his sword and caught it by the hilt, pointing toward Alex.
Alexander flinched his hands back and stepped back. "What is happening?" Adara desperately cried. Alexander tripped over a rock. THe bobby pins came loose from her hair. Alice watched in horror as her hair fell past her elbows, clearly showing that she was a woman. "You-you-you-you're a-a woman!" Adara cried. "Yeah, and if you tell anyone, you're screwed," Alexander hissed. "But-but you-your the best fighter! And the honored knight! And-and..."
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto watched with a cold look in his eyes as the man-woman fell down because of a rock. the only question now was to finish him off or not... He watched the princess freak out about it for a moment before speaking. "If you want us to keep it a secret...shouldn't you be begging or shall we make a deal?" He sheathed his sword, and looked at the girl. She didn't see his fire, which would be a good thing. He didn't ever want to use it again.
"Oh really? You know what the king's gonna do to me if I don't come back with the princess? He'll slaughter me raw!" Alice bit her lip, making it bleed and spurt. Not seeming to take notice of it, she went on. "What kind of deal? If it involves leaving that freak behind, then well we don't have a deal. What is up with you?" Alice glared at Adara.
"I don't-I don't know!" SHe cried. "It just happened! Look! I don't really even control it! It just revolves around me I guess!" She moved her hands slightly, making air swirl around her. Adara thrusted her hand forward. "See? I just move my hands around! It happened a few minutes ago! I don't know!"
Giotto Jingshi
"That, unfortunetly has nothing to do with me." he said simply, getting slightly annoyed at the woman's tone. Giotto sighed as he was about to turn back, but stopped before then saying "Princess, if I may ask...what are you doing back here?" He faced the girl now, as he debated what to do with the soldier. She couldn't attack anymore, the burns on her hand would prevent her from swinging a sword for awhile at least, possibly a week at most. He watched her demonstrate her air power, and frowned slightly at the girl.
"I can explain why you can do that, if you are curious." Giotto stated simply towards the princess.
"Wait, you actually know what's wrong with this freakshow?" Alice asked, crossing her arms. "I'M NOT A FREAK SHOW!" Adara stomped her foot. There was a loud clap of thunder. Her cheeks turned a bright red as if she should be ashamed. She got into a turtle position.
Alice snorted as she put her hair up. "Whatever you say," She rolled her eyes.
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto nodded slightly at the woman's words. "While traveling, I have heard stories of people such as her...they have the power to control one of the four elements. Water, Earth, Fire and Air." He said quietly, as he gazed down at the ground. He looked at Adara, then said "It appears you have been cursed with the power of air...There are others such as yourself, but most have gone into hiding...Others were killed or used as slaves." With that said, he turned his back on the two women. "Princess, you should return to the palace...Just say...you went to the doctor's hut. I'm sure our knight friend would support that story...if not the king may get a message about a woman posing in the ranks of men..." He said, a darken look in his normally amber eyes. With that said, he went back into the hut, shutting the door behind him.
Holly Knight-Walker
Holly watched curiously as Giotto walked to the door and began speaking, his voice much harsher and colder than it had been moments ago.
As curiosity got the best of her Holly took a step toward Giotto glancing out the door to see a man. Scrunching her eyebrows she tried to figure out why Giotto hadn't already invited him in like he had done with her, for all they knew he could have a very nasty cold.
"Unless you know where you could find the princess, no." The stranger said his voice holding the same tone as Giotto's.
"Princess?" Holly muttered, excitement begging to spread through her body as memories of her mothers story telling seeped into her mind.
Her mother had always told Holly stories off far off places,magical lands, and princesses. Basically any story a little girl could dream of, but the stories that had always stuck out to Holly were those of the princess. The stories would always tell a tell about a beautiful princesses and daring knights that got her hand. It fantasized Holly to no end making her dance around the house pretending she was a princess herself.
"I'm afraid I will have to step out for a moment. Please stay inside Miss Holly." Holly was snapped out of her daydream as Giotto exited the house leaving her in to miss out on the action.
Frowning and her curiosity getting the best of her she opened the door slightly watching from the small slit.
The stranger laid on the ground Giotto's sword at his neck before the stranger over to him and Giotto burnt his hand, air came in there somewhere from a girl standing off to the side. Confused by the sight Holly only stared closing the door and hurriedly sitting down in a chair as she saw Giotto walk back into the hut.
"I saw that." Holly chirped excitedly. Jumping out of her chair she rushed over to Giotto.
"That was so cool, I mean hot. How did you do that with your hands?" Holly grabbed his hands studying them for herself.
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto sighed as he walked back into the hut, shutting the door behind him. He placed the sword by its original resting plce, and barely had time to turn as he heard the Holly's excited voice. The girl jumped out of her seat after the sentence and grabbed his hands. This girl was easily excited wasn't she?
"That was so cool, I mean hot. How did you do that with your hands?"
Giotto's face turned a bit red as the girl held his hands. He wasn't used to female contact after all. He only had one choice, to play dumb...maybe she would believe she imangined it. "Um...what are you talking about Ms. Holly?" He asked, offering a nervous smile to the girl. He didn't want to tell anyone about his power. It was more of a curse then a blessing after all. He paused before thinking before frowning slightly. "You went outside when I asked you to stay in here? Hopefully that would change the subject.
Alexander motioned for Adara to follow. "Come on, move it," "I'm not going back to the castle," Adara stopped her foot. "I never said I was going to take you there. Now get on the horse before I change my mind," Adara uneasily mounted the horse. Alexander tugged her sleeves over her hands, protecting them. She got onto the horse and grabbed the reins with her sleeves and kicked the horse. Adara held on, uncomfortable as they raced off.
Alexander motioned for Adara to follow. "Come on, move it," "I'm not going back to the castle," Adara stopped her foot. "I never said I was going to take you there. Now get on the horse before I change my mind," Adara uneasily mounted the horse. Alexander tugged her sleeves over her hands, protecting them. She got onto the horse and grabbed the reins with her sleeves and kicked the horse. Adara held on, uncomfortable as they raced off.
Holly Knight-Walker
"Um...what are you talking about Ms. Holly?" Holly looked up from Giotto's hand to see a slight blush on the tall blonde's face, making her immediately drop his hands and shy away from him a little. She hadn't ment to make Giotto feel uncomfortable, but she kind of liked seeing him blush, if that didn't sound weird. Which it probably did, since they had just met.
"Just call me Holly." She muttered looking down at her feet.
"You went outside when I asked you to stay in here?" Holly's eyes widened. "No, no, no I just peeked out the door, and that's when I saw that fire trick."
Forgetting her previous shyness Holly stood on her tippy toes trying to become eye to eye with Giotto, but failing miserably.
"Come on admit it! I saw it. " Holly looked away thinking before turning back to Giotto still on her tippy toes. "How about a secret for a secret." She said a smirk on her face.
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto offered a smile, to hopefully confirm the fact that he pretended not to know what she was talking about....It didn't work. He cursed quietly in his mind, since his playing dumb and changing the topic didn't work. Though she dropped his hands and looked a bit flustered too. The girl didn't look up and he inwardly cringed at the mention on the fire he had summoned. There was no way she would have imagined it, she had a perfectly clear view of it. He opened his mouth to say something, though the girl seemed to forget about her earlier shy attitude.
The girl had tippy toed herself to try and make eye contact with him, though she had lean in a bit close to be as tall as him. His face slightly reddened once again, as he took her shoulders in his hands and pushed her down softly and also took a small step backward. "There is no secret though..." He trailed off before sighing and letting his arms drop back to his side, sighing in defeat. "Okay...tell yours first then."He said simply.
Holly Knight-Walker
Holly stared at Giotto awaiting his answer when he did it again. His face turned a slight shade of red.
Holly raised an eyebrow as he pushed her down and took a step back. Why was he constantly getting embarrassed Holly mused studying his face.
"There is no secret though..." Giotto said trailing off, Holly locked eyes with him. Her deep blue eyes staying trained on his amber ones. He was defiantly hiding something Holly thought, deciding on not giving up on the topic.
"I saw what I saw." Holly said one more time before recieving a sigh from the boy in front of her.
"Okay...tell yours first."
A smile spread across Holly's face. "Okay.. But first you have to pinky promise you'll tell me the truth after." Holly held out her hand pinking raised and waiting.
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto tilted his head to the side once again and watched as she held out her pinky. "Very well..." He said, and lifted his hand and did the same, wrapping his hand around the girls. Wasn't pinky promise done by little kids? He felt like he didn't really need to promise and started to wish that he just kept denying it. But...he didn't want her to go around and tell everyone something was wrong with him.
"Though...whatever we stay between us, correct?" He asked, as he looked at the girl, releasing his pinky from hers. He scartched the back of his head, before offering a tentative smile towards the girl.
Alexander avoided the village roads as went around them. She could barely see, but she could see enough. She could feel Adara start to fall asleep. Alexander rolled her shoulders to try to get her more centered so she wouldn't fall off. She sighed, slowed her horse to a stop and moved the saddle back and put her feet in the straps so she wouldn't fall out. Alexander got back on her horse and made the horse speed up.
Alexander slowed when they reached a hut. She picked Adara up, opened the door and went into a small bedroom. The "bed" was just a blanket. Alexander put her down and walked back out to the small kitchen. She tapped on the stone oven and got some food out, some old vegetables and some water. Alexander chopped the vegetables up and put the water in a pot on the stove. She added some vegetables and let it cook.
Holly Knight-Walker
"Very Well...Though what ever we say stays between us, correct?" Giotto said extending his much larger hand and entwining his pinky with Holly's
"Of course." Holly sang excitedly releasing her pinky from his as he did so. She knew what she saw was similar to what she could herself, she had the gift of water and he had the gift of fire.
Holly smiled before she beginning to talk more confidence in her voice as she confided her secret in him. She had finally found someone like her she just knew it.
"Hmmm...well it might just be easier to show you." Holly said thoughtfully looking around the small hut. Turning around she found a small container of liquid, hoping no one would mind if she took it, she picked it up without asking.
Turning back to Giotto she swished the bottle around in his face trying to show him a liquid was in it. Bringing the bottle close to her, her mouth turned to a firm line as she concentrated.
Waving her hand gently above the container, the water began to rise starting to float in the air, looking like crystals from the setting suns rays.
Holly looked up at Giotto and grinned. "See?" Holly put the water back in the container giddiness filling her. "Now it's your turn." She said placing the container back and standing in front of him waiting for a show.
Giotto Jingshi
Giotto watched as the girl took a small vile of liquid...he debated to tell her that liquid was actually dirty water from the stream that they kept when using leeches in treatment, but she looked pleased with what she found so he didn't say anything. As the girl concentrated, he watched as she stared at the bottle intently. He blinked as she made the water float up, a slight flash of surprise showed in his face, before going back to stunned. So...he wasn't that different...he had heard stories of other elementals, but never actually met any until this day. The princess girl Adara was one, and now Holly was one...they were only missing earth.
He had been deep in thought, when the girl put the container back. It took him a moment to realize that she was waiting for him to do something."Oh...Yes..right..." He lifted his hands, enclosed in fists and in a moment they were covered in orange flames. He drew in a breath, and release his palms. A fire ball was formed, and her made it split into smaller little lights easily, without even moving his hands. After all, he had trained with it in a young age so he could control fire with his mind. He made the small flickers fly around so they almost looked like fireflies in the dim lighting. He made them swirl around Holly, before all of them flying into the chimney, setting the logs placed there start to burn. With that show over, he let his arms drop to the side once again with another sigh. "You are the first and last person I want to show this too." He said simply.
