8-Bit…8-Bit…8-Bit…!
What if I just mixed things up a bit?
I picked one fine time to move to this city eh?
Out of all the times I could have moved here, I pick the one time when everything and everyone is going bat shit crazy to settle down.
Well, let me pause there. I doubt you want to hear the ramblings of someone who hasn’t even introduced themselves right?
Right.
So allow me to introduce myself, I am Demetri Maverick. A shopkeeper, I sell a variety of things, ranging from the mundane, to the supernatural. But that’s another story for another time. You’ve come to me to learn just what’s going on here in this city right? And that’s just what I will convey.
It started just about the day I moved here, December 31st, 2009. The Dimensional Equilibrium around 8-Bit started to fluctuate, meaning, in simpler terms, 8-Bit was getting ready to undergo a change.
Originally, every place in the world has it’s own Dimensional Equilibrium. Whether it be a small island, or a giant mountain like Everest. This keeps our dimension, our world, away from crossing with others like the astral dimension, which holds your ghosts and ghouls. Normally though, every so often, the Equilibrium will tend to fluctuate, which will explain your ‘ghost sightings’. You dig?
So, basically, I didn’t pay much mind to it all when 8-Bit’s started shift, it’s a normal thing, happens a lot when new people settle down in new towns and such.
Who am I to know all of this? Well…I guess you can say I’m a kind of…Gatekeeper.
I make sure the different dimensions and planes are all in order, it’s a tiring job, but someone has to do it. I don’t like talking about my work though; just the thought of it can turn troublesome.
Back to the matter at hand, remember when I said 8-Bit’s Equilibrium began to fluctuate? Well, it didn’t stop. Normally, these little instances are just that, instances. They only last for about a week at the longest. This one, kept on going, it’s March now, and the fluctuations are only getting more and more erratic.
For now…the townspeople are oblivious to the shifts. Normal people can’t perceive things foreign to their dimension, they only see the damage those things cause.
For example, the other day, I stumbled upon a T-Rex the size of a small skyscraper. I handled it no problem (Gatekeepers have dangerous jobs, as such, we’re granted abilities to match with whatever baddies we may encounter), however it’s footsteps left some pretty unsightly craters in the street.
The people of 8-Bit all see situations like this as ‘unexplained phenomena’, and they’re the talk of the town these days. For now they’re nothing but interesting little rumors, but I fear for when things escalate.
I need to get to the bottom of all of this before things get worse, today a T-Rex, tomorrow could be some death machine.
It’s all so damn troublesome…

Mood Music 4: Those Who Fight Further
The erratic movements of the rift have caused strange changes within the city of 8-Bit.It looks like slowly but surely, a small group of people within 8-Bit are gaining awareness of the ‘unexplained phenomena’s causes. Not only that, but they’re also gaining Gatekeeper-like abilities, but with an serious change; the way their moves grow and evolve are similar to a video game. The only way they can increase the power of their skills is to ‘level up’. These individuals level up by gaining experience points, I guess through battle?
I’ve even gained possession of a few items which ‘power-up’ my own abilities, my guess is their also a result of the Equilibrium’s situation and do the same for the individuals who have gained these abilities.
Regardless, I can’t let these people divulge these abilities that they’ve gained, if they did that, they could seriously screw up the nature of this world.

OOC Notes
In The Beginning
He sat there, comfortably resting atop the tallest skyscraper in all of 8-Bit City. The building itself was a marvel to look at even without the seemingly zen figure as an accessory. It’s height alone was staggering, it appeared as if it were able to touch Heaven itself. All around it, the clouds danced about, it was a wonder the dread locked fellow didn’t catch a case of vertigo.
The piece of architecture overlooked a crystal blue Lake Hylia; the man made body of water of which 8-Bit was built around.
The building itself was shaped like a triangle, made completely of glass, which caused it to sparkle brilliantly as the moonlight hit it, sort of like a natural light show. For the most part, it was free of any decorations, only one thing was written on it’s side Eos. This building housed the main force behind all of 8-Bit, Eos Corp. They built this city, bring in all of it’s funds, and rumors even say that Eos Corp and it’s president even have it’s hands in the government of 8-Bit, but that’s just a rumor of course.
However, this is not a tale of business, and government, no, this is a tale of heroism, gallantry, and coming of age.
It was atop this very building that perhaps the strongest of these heroes sat, Demetri Maverick. His legs casually dangling over the edge, golden irises looking out to the lake, which reflected the silvery gown that the moon wore, and gingerly sipping on a cup off coffee he had just purchased only a little while ago.
With his free hand, he ran his fingers through a few of his locks. As he pulled his lips mournfully away from the ring of the cup he let out a painful groan. Hope filled, he held the Styrofoam object up above him, shaking it a bit hoping to here some signs of life from within, but there were no fruits in his harvest. The cup was empty.
Regretfully, he tossed the cup from his presence, watching it dully as the wind took it into it’s own possession onto wherever it’s graces would have it.
“I really should buy two of those…” He mumbled as a note to himself, casting a glance to see if he could spot the empty piece of waste. When he gave up the search, he simply scratched the back of his head and let out a big yawn.
“I’ve caught a whiff of a couple anomalies here…they don’t seem hostile...buuut…” He frowned, “Who knows. I’m still worried about this place’s Equilibrium. If it keeps up like this…” Demetri grimaced at the thought, “This world could end up in the Dimensional Desert…” He shook his head, clearly at odds with that idea,
“I can’t let that happen…” With that, the dread locked man snapped his fingers, and with a whimsical melody a dark blue door appeared just a few feet away from the rooftop he sat on. With a grunt, Demetri rose to his feet, and effortlessly he ‘walked’ on the air.
As he approached the door, it opened slowly, revealing a soft blue light from deep within. The man entered without looking back at his former spot, the door closed behind him with a loud ‘click’ and disappeared in a bright flash, without a trace of its existence.

8-Bit City, Recreational District, Ramen Don, 8:35 PM
Xavier's Theme, Just Another Day
“Oy! Xavier, hurry up and get those floors clean! Tomorrows the first day of school, and you know that’s when business starts booming!” From far in the back of the small restaurant an hearty voice hollered at the sole worker not of Japanese decent, Xavier Wallace. The senior dressed in his typical street clothes save for one modification, the official ‘Ramen Don’ apron. It was a dark brown and had the restaurant mascot ‘Dr. Noodle’ on it (Xavier thought he looked like a middle age Japanese Charlie Brown).
When I say Ramen Don was a small restaurant, I mean it was a small restaurant. The eatery was arguably one of the smallest spots in the recreational district. Ramen Don had three tables, able to seat about four people each along the southern wall, while up north the kitchen, which was open to the customers, had a counter and a sort of ‘bar’ area where about eight people could sit and eat, and also keep a good eye on their grub as it was cooked. The décor was one word: wooden. Despite being part of the newest district in town it was also very old school and low tech. In fact, the Don and his sons cooked the noodles from scratch.
That wasn’t to say that Ramen Don wasn’t without it’s few faithful customers, up front, hanging from top of the window to the kitchen hung a long line of some important signatures. All of these signatures belonged to celebs, or long time patrons who ate at the Don’s spot, it’s sort of like a wall of fame. The restaurant was a must see destination on any noodle lovers pilgrimage, despite its lack of popularity these days, Ramen Don is a legend among chefs.
“Yeah, yeah. You know Noodles, I doubt the business is going to change, a lot of kids just head to that superstore’s food court to eat!” Xavier hollered to his boss, he affectionately referred to him as Noodles, only because he looked exactly like the restaurant’s mascot.
“Pish, posh! Superstore Eos have no flavor! It’s food lacks to subtle, yet powerful and refined taste of my noodles! They have nothing that Ramen Don does not!” The old man said as he beamed with pride at his noodles’ distinct flavor. Xavier shrugged however and walked to the front counter, reaching for the black remote that rested atop of it. He aimed for the old black box that was suspended by a simple shelf high in the top left corner of the restaurant. Switching the television to ‘on’ he began surfing through channels, which were mostly nothing but snow because the Don was too cheap to buy satellite. With a zombie-like movement he took one of the seats at the counter, not taking his eye off of the screen.
“Sheesh, can’t even get the videos on here…” He sighed, settling for the hourly 8-Bit City news. Anchorwoman Wendy Storms (xD) was currently transitioning to the next topic, Xavier watched with a goofy grin, because Ms. Storms was pretty hot, despite her being of the mature age of forty-five…allegedly.
“And now, a special report on Unexplained Phenomena that seem to be plaguing 8-Bit since December, our man on the street, Chase Horion is on the scene of yet another site of incident, this time, a mysterious wailing noise in a Shopping District alleyway! Chase?”
At that moment, the young man’s interest in the news quickly went south. Chase was handsome guy, but he wasn’t into dudes. He sighed, and swiveled around in his seat at the counter, facing back at the Don.
“More ‘Phenomena’? Sheesh! Where’s the real news? Like my new Rainbow Ramen?” The man said as he finished mopping the last bit of the now sparkling kitchen floor, Xavier’s less than stellar job on the tables no doubt paired in comparison. The employee cringed at his boss’ words.
“Ahhh, I think they’re definitely gonna do a story about your masterpiece Noodles…” He swung around in the chair, so the Don wouldn’t see his lips move for the next part, “In the emergency report, tch.”
“I heard that Wallace!” He always used Xavier’s last name when he was cross. The dark skinned character shrugged, and smoothly changed the subject.
“That’s all they ever talk about these days. Seriously…I’m tired of it…I’d be happy to see a story about your ramen,” Xavier glanced back up at the television, “Looks like quite a commotion going on in the Shopping District right now…come to think of it…this is the first time they’ve ever reported straight from the scene…” He frowned, thinking about everyone’s obsession in the whole fiasco.
Xavier looked down at his white digital watch,
“Eight fifty hm?”

I am correct. He replied confidently. Jayx merely shook her head.
"No, no, no- I'm positive!! They're really there-and I'm not the only one to see them too!! I've asked others, and they see the same thing!"
And you have not considered that perhaps this is simply a human defect? That others see those spots because they are also human and the construction of their eyes are the same-incapable of perceiving such a vast expanse.
"I'm not incapable of perceiving anything, It's right there-the sky-the universe-a supposedly infinite...something. Anyway, clearly I can comprehend it, so it's there. Therefore, the spots have nothing to do with any "human defects", they're there alright, and the only reason we can't see them at any other time is because they're translucent- lookin' up, like i'm doing now-just happens to be the perfect angle-but still I can only see glimpses of them."
Fine. Then, supposing your theory is true-what do you think they are?
Jayx sat up, shrugging, a small smile on her face. She glanced around briefly, realizing that the park was almost completely deserted. She recalled that, as a general policy, the park closed at sunset; which was a real shame, it was so beautiful at this time of day.
well? he asked, expectantly. Finally Jayx gave a small laugh, shrugging again.
"I dunno-but I like t' think they're fairies...."
Fairies?! You're serious?
"Of course I am! Anyway, I don't wanna talk about it anymore-we've been through this and no matter what neither of us are going to give in. Let's just call it a truce, alright?" Jayx said, staring up at the sky, however, this time much lower, more directed towards the tree tops again. Her eyes had glazed over and were now looking at something in her own mind's eye, rather than in front of her.
If you insist. He said, sounding amused.
Jayx stood, brushing herself off and gathering her bag, slinging the strap over her shoulder and inhaling the sweet scent of dusk. The light was fading quickly now and she knew she only had so much time before it became completely dark. She grimaced, for once regretting she didn't have her cell phone with her; the park's sun dial was useless now that shadow had enveloped its entirety.
She began walking, starting at a reasonably quick pace, but slowing as her mind began to wander again, as it always did when she was alone. The sounds of crickets and other nightlife began to fill her ears, and she relished the sound that could scarcely be heard anywhere else in the city. She halted for a moment, taking in her surroundings, she didn't see why she was in such a rush, her curfew was until nine, and it couldn't be later than 7..8 at the most. She had reached the turn before the exiting gates-once out there, she would be greeted by reality once more, as city life took its firm hold. It was astounding, how such a small area, could feel so far away from the city it was enshrouded by. If only-
Look out.
Before Jayx could react she felt something pelt against her head with tremendous force, knocking her off balance and to her knees. Her head ached horribly at the impact and for a moment she was incapable of movement as a result of shock. Finally, she blinked, recovering enough to look around for the source of such severe and sudden pain. Her eyes rested on the only object in her line of vision-a Styrofoam cup. She stared at it stupidly for a moment, then crawled over to it. What was in it, a brick?! she thought, picking it up. It was completely empty, and a little bent in. Incredulously she gaped at it, how could such a thing as a cup be thrown at her with such force!? And by who?
That thought caused her to leap to her feet, staring around wildly, but no one appeared to be there-or rather, no one appeared in the illumination of the lamp light near by...
She almost laughed as she glanced down at it again, then made a motion to toss it, but froze, on impulse placing it in her bag.
No way you're hittin me again. She thought irritably, as she strode out of the park.

Daniel's theme, In operation
The sun was starting to set and it made the scene of the epic struggle between two competitors that much more epic. One and seventeen year old senior, the other a twelve year old seventh grader. The place where this battle took place, 8-bit city’s arcade. The name of the game, Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The seventeen year old, yelled to the boy “ you can’t beat me, and let me show you why.” the boy started to mash the buttons and than suddenly the arcade was silent as the boy had just pulled off a super combo and the young twelve year old was defeated instantly.
The seventeen year old turned to crowd of people who were watching this battle for over an hour. The boy stuck his hands to the sky in celebration of his victory. The crowd started to clap, most were just excited the long drawn out fight was over. The boy parted his black with red highlighted hair to cover the left side of his face. He turned to the twelve year old and said “ you did good, kid I’ll face you again some other time.” the boy stuck out his hand and the kid shook it. They both smiled and the kid left the arcade defeated, yet happy. The seventeen year old boy turned around after hearing someone say to him “ Hey, Daniel I’ll take you on now.”
Daniel laughed and said “ only if you think your good enough.” a boy of about fifteen or sixteen appeared from the crowd. He walked up to the machine and than after picking their characters Daniel and the boy began to fight. It took roughly about five minutes for the boy to cry out in utter defeat. The boy looked to Daniel and asked “ how are you so good?” Daniel replied “practice and even more practice.” Daniel smiled, he waved his hand to the boy and walked toward the doors. He opened them and walked out onto the street. He took out his Droid X cell phone to look at the time. It was seven o’ five. The sun had already set and the moon had risen. He looked up at it let the light from it revile his slightly tanned skin. After his moon gazing was over he let out a small yawn and than walked himself to the parking lot of the arcade. He walked to an all black motorcycle and he placed himself on it.
He stuck his key in and then started it, his headlights turned on, he put a helmet on his head that made it hard to see his face and he than took off heading home. As he drove the traffic was light so he decided to speed a little, he let the wind rush against his helmet. He than slowed down and turned down a side street where he slowly stopped his motorcycle and pulled up into the drive way of a two story house. That most would consider a medium sized home.
He got off his motorcycle, he took off his helmet and left it on the seat. He grabbed his keys He took out his cell phone to look at the time it was seven thirty. Daniel walked up to the door of the house and he opened it. As he walked inside the door he tried to say “ I’m home” but all he could get out was “I’m..” before a hand pressed against his forehead holding him back. He pushed the hand away and saw his father dressed in formal clothing and Daniel asked “ you going out?” his father replied “ no, but you are. Tonight me and your mother are having a romantic dinner alone.” Daniel turned around and asked “ when should I be back?” his father replied “ come back at like nine, ten if things go well.”
Daniel shuttered at the thought of what he meant by if things go well. Daniel got back on his motorcycle and after putting on his helmet and starting it up he took off down the drive way thinking what he could do for the next hour or two. He stopped the bike and took out his phone. It was seven thirty five, he sighed and said “ maybe I’ll get some food and see a movie.” Daniel turned from the drive way and then drove down the street. He turned down the main street and headed toward a near by Italian restaurant

What friends? Nym was standing on the street on her own, probably looking rather strange with nobody around her, staring round the place with big blue eyes without a clue of what to do. She would've much rather be at home than standing here looking silly.
She idly tugged at the bottom of her grey oversized hoodie, which ended almost halfway down her thigh. She liked the looseness of it, even if it was obvious it was too big, especially seeing as she was wearing blue skinny jeans and black converse, making her lower half look extremely small. Over her shoulder was the messenger bag that held everything she carried with her.
Out of it, she pulled her small mobile phone, sliding the screen sideways so that she could see the time. She sighed, realising only a few minutes had passed during her passive staring.
"Forget this..." Nym mumbled to herself, tired of trying to stay out just because it would make her parents happy to see her have a life. She could be quite happy sitting at home and doodling in her sketchpad, without the need for company. After replacing the phone back into her bag, she hugged her sketchpad tighter against her chest before slowly beginning to make her way home, planning on walking seeing as it would waste alot of time and make her parents think she was out for longer than she actually was.
She wandered along the main street, listening to the world as she passed by, rather than to the music she'd usually have plugged into her ears. The roar of a motorbike rushed past her, the sudden loudness of it making her flinch away from the road, a little squeal escape her. She didn't like motorbikes, they were too loud and too fast. Never would she find herself on one, not even for a dare. Although, who would dare her? With another sigh, she pulled herself together and continued walking. Perhaps she'd get something to eat on the way home?
OOC Notes
The man on the street, Chase Horion, a young man with fiery orange spiked hair and hazel eyes, was doing some sort of….dance? To “Quell the spirits of 8-Bit”. Apparently the last edition of the special report found Chase visiting a street shaman for advice on what to do about the current going-on’s in town, and this…embarrassment was what the shaman managed to pull out of his ass.
“Thank goodness this isn’t on national TV. People would start pulling our funding like crazy…” Xavier pinched at the space between his eyebrows; his frustrated air gave a much older look to his person for that instant. The Don, seeing this, couldn’t help but chuckle at Xavier’s distaste for the news’ antics.
“I would have thought you’d be all for shenanigans like this Xavier, whaaat you don’t like the dancing boy?” The old man couldn’t help but cackle at his own words, after all, The Don thought he was a regular riot himself, how could a regular riot not laugh at his own jokes? Xavier grimaced, shrugging dully.
“Yeah right, that garbage. There’s no doubt that something weird’s going on in 8-Bit…but doing that—“ He broke his speech pointing with one large finger to the television, he was now doing what seemed reminiscent of a rain-dance. The wailing however, that was coming from the alley Chase and all of the people around him (cops and citizens) watched with enthused expressions. “Doing that’s not gonna solve a thing…” After shutting his eyes for a brief moment, he rose from his seat at the counter, and strolled over to the windows on the eastern walls.
The steel shutters were still up, so he could see clearly what was going on in the bustling street. Nothing but the norm, car after car whizzed by, tight clusters of folk passed on by, ranging from the elderly, to the young adult, to the teenager, struggling to shake off the idea of school starting the next morning. At the latter, he had to laugh, thankfully, this was his last year at the esteemed Atari High. He glanced to the last of the line of three wall length windows, the one which held the flashing neon sign that indicated whether the shop was open or not.
“We stay open late Noodles?” Xavier said, a bit amazed. As dead as the place was on a good day, he found it hard to keep track of the spot’s business hours.
“Of course! Late night eating is the future Wallace! You should learn this!” His boss replied with a matter-of-fact tone.
“Rrrright. I’m gonna step out and…stir up a crowd.” He was lying of course, he just needed to get some air, the smell of the Don’s newest creation ‘Rainbow Ramen’ was way too fresh in the air. Xavier didn’t know just what was in the Rainbow Ramen…but it seemed…foul.
Outside the shop, there was single wooden chair which he kept outside for his own use during breaks, much like this one. With a tiny satisfaction he removed his brown apron, and draped it over his neck and shoulders, sort of like a gym rag. Letting out a breath of relieved air he took his seat, legs spread out far, almost far enough to be an obstruction on the side walk, arms folded comfortably behind his head to form just the right amount of cushion that the wooden foundation of the restaurant behind him could not.
Xavier proceeded to people watch, casting a few soft glances at some of the people he knew. There was a flashing LED billboard atop the line of complexes across the street from them, between adds of new, cutting edge spots, it also displayed the time in the lower right corner.
9:00
“How late does the Don want me to stay…doesn’t he have sons to take my shift?” He scratched at his sideburn with a frustrated context.
“Hey, didja hear what’s going on in the shopping district?”
“Yeah! Another one of those…things happened right?”
“Yeah, but we can go see it live now! Chase Horion’s going to try and calm the spirits!”
“Seriously? Let’s go Maki!”
The duo of gossiping girls broke out into a hurried trek to the monorail, causing a few others around them to do the same.
“It’s like the hipster version of a witch hunt. Sheesh.” Xavier shook his head, no interest there. Instead, he reached into the left pocket of his jeans and removed one of his prized possessions, his white PSP, complete with the Vader decal on the backside. With a grin, he booted up his E-Boot of 'Legend of Mana', hacked PSP's were the best kind of PSP's.

During Kahns long walk his skin started changing young again and he began thinking of a way to please the dead. His first thought would be to sacrifice a poor living soul for the dead to spare him. He considered the sacrifice but would not know who he needs for the sacrifice. Kahn decided when he leaves school he will for the person he wishes to be a sacrifice for the dead.

Charlotte was walking to her Junior homeroom, up the stairs on the second floor. She knew there were elevators, which were faster when the school was this deserted, early in the morning at 7:15. Her mother worked as a Freshman teacher at Atari, so she was always here early. It was somewhat of a good advantage, because now she didn't have to rush & she was always on time.
Depending on how many other teacher-kids were at the school, she'd hang her backpack on the back of her chair, take her guitar case up two more flights of stairs to the Extracurricular Music room, and practice chords & melodies. Today was one of those days.
Her guitar was seemed heavier today, because she had stayed up late the night before finishing homework. She climbed up the last step on the stairwell and stood at the top. There was an extra door on her right. When that get there? She wondered. Maybe my mind's just playing tricks on me. Charlotte shrugged it off and walked on through the hallway which was still dark. She flicked on the light switch & almost screamed at the dark, massive shadow at the other end of the hall.
Charlotte shivered, closed her eyes. "It's not real, it's not real, it's not there. Just keep walking." She let out a breath, still shaking, and carfully walked on. She realised the figure was infront of the door she wanted to go through. She could see the "Music Room" plate on the door, just behind the monster. She held her breath and reached for the doorknob. She turned her head to watch the monster back away and disappear between the walls. Recovering from her sight, she opened the door and sat on a stool.
Relaxing, she took the guitar out of its black case, laid the case on the floor. Charlotte placed her fingers over the strings.
I wonder when I'll ever stop seeing this insane things...

Daniel slowed his motorcycle down and turned into the parking lot of the restaurant. He parked it and than took off his helmet. He laid it on the seat and than fixed his hair by shaking it wildly. He than parted it to cover the left side of his face as he always did. He let out a low yawn and than walked through the parking lot to get to the sidewalk. He walked down the sidewalk to get to the restaurant’s doors. He than saw a girl walking down the sidewalk as if she was lost or had nothing to do. He smiled and waved to the girl as she got closer.
For some reason she looked familiar, maybe he had seen her around school. But she looked young, she looked like she was a freshman or maybe a sophomore. Daniel couldn’t really tell. He shook his head getting rid of the thoughts and he walked into the restaurant. As he walked down the short walkway to get to the main part of the restaurant he saw a young woman waiting, she was the hostess. She looked at him and said “ hi welcome to..” she stopped after getting a good look at Daniel and than said “ oh it’s just you, what do you want Daniel?” Daniel looked at her and asked “ is that anyway to treat a customer, Priscilla.”
she replied “ no it’s not, but your not really a customer your more like a pest.” Daniel looked at her with a fake shocked expression on his face he placed his hand over his heart and he said “that really hurt, your going to make me cry.” Priscilla chuckled a little and said “ ok, come on I’ll get you a table, and maybe if you bring a date in sometimes I might not consider you such a pest.” Daniel looked at Priscilla and said “ sure I can do that, so.. Are you free tomorrow night?” Priscilla stared at him and Daniel said “ I’m just kidding, or am I.” Priscilla walked up to a free table and said “ you better be kidding or your going to be disappointed tomorrow night.” Daniel wiped his eyes as if he was crying and said “ you make me so sad. So can you tell the chef I’m here. So he can make my usual.” Priscilla shook her head and said “ fine.”
A waiter walked up to Daniel’s table and gave him a glass of water and than walked away and Daniel said “ hey, wait your not going to take my order?” the waiter turned to him and stared for a second and than said “ do I have to?” Daniel looked down at the table and said “ no, but you never know I might want to change my order every so often.” the waiter laughed and said “ you come in here almost every week and your order hasn’t changed once.” Daniel folded his arms and said “ does everyone in this restaurant have to be so rude.” Daniel chuckled as he began to drink his water, he knew most of the people who worked at the restaurant so they treated him more like a friend than a customer and this was their usual banter. As Daniel was drinking he found himself thinking about that girl, why did she look so lonely, he started to think that he should have talked to her instead of just heading inside.

With a slight frown on his face, Preston marched down the side of the road, weaving through the seemingly endless crowd of people, he heard whispers and even some giddy voices talking about some 'Chase' character, and some odd act he was performing. With his hands in the pockets of his jeans, his left hand gripped the $20 dollar bill his mother had given him to go and get something for dinner. Sure it was late, but there was nothing at the house to eat, so it didn't matter to him. Preston tilted his head upward, looking around for some sign of food joint. He was in the mood for something oriental, so he figured a chinese restaurant would do nicely. Being dark, there were endless lights coming from multiple stores, but he couldn't tell which ones sold food, and which ones were just there for the entertainment of others. He decided to get a little excersise while he was out, so he drew his hands from his pockets and began going at a slow paced jog. A bright neon sign caught his attention about a half-mile down the bussling street. It claimed the shop was open, so he figured he would take the chance.
Upon entering the wooden establishment, he realized he was in a place known as 'Ramen Don' and he was quite content with himself that he had managed to find a restaurant like this from sheer luck. He approached the counter, where he saw a man who looked to be a few years older then he was, judging by his hulking build and facial hair, neither of which he posessed, and an older looking foreign fellow conversing about something on television. Preston hiosted himself upon a stool at the counter, looking up and examining some of the names upon the wooden wall, wondering what on earth they could be there for. His first guess was some sort of eating contest, like spiccy noodles or largest bowl of noodles consumed within a certain time limit, and the thought made him even hungrier.
It was nearly 9 PM when the older boy hopped from his stool and proceeded to go outdoors, and Preston took that as an oppurtunity to place an order. Raising his ahnd politely, and mustering his voice, he called out to the elderly man. "Excuse me, but what exactly is 'Rainbow Ramen'?"
OOC Notes
”Excuse me, but what exactly is ‘Rainbow Ramen’?”
At that, a new energy flowed through both of the men in the shop, through the Don, an electric excitement, through Xavier, fear for the customer’s life. The Don came from deep within the kitchen and scurried up front to better communicate with the blonde haired boy, a wide smile on his face.
“I’m glad you asked boy! You have impeccable taste, Rainbow Ramen is---“ At that moment, Xavier came barging in, a deathly serious look on his face.
“Don’t. Get. That. Ramen. I’m begging you. Stick with tonkotsu, pork bone can’t kill you. Trust me.” Xavier had perhaps never been so serious in his life, because he never had to save someone’s life before. The large young man bent over the counter, eyes resting on his boss.
“What’s the matter with you, you get one customer all day and you wanna kill em’?” Xavier was scolding his own employer, he tried whispering, but the fury in his voice caused it to grow louder than he aimed for. After taking a deep breath, he wiped his hand across his face, trying to regain his composure, and then he turned around, a warm grin on his face directed towards the kid, who didn’t look much younger than him actually.
“Sorry about all of that, Rainbow Ramen is…well, don’t ask,” He rubbed the back of his neck embarrassed, “Anyways, I’m Xavier, this is the Don, welcome. You’re our first customer all day…”
“Wallace! Don’t tell him that!”
“Yeah, yeah…” He mumbled. “Like I said before…tonkotsu’s the best thing on the menu."

For now though, she would have to continue her journey home alone. Passing the many restaurants and take-outs made her hunger a little more obvious. She paused for a moment, checking her phone again for the time; almost eight o'clock. Perhaps she should wait till she got home, it was getting a little late for her liking. Eventhough her parents wanted her to spend some time out, she was pretty sure that they would start to get worried if she began to take too much longer. Especially seeing as she had school in the morning. With that thought, she continued walking again, speeding up her pace a little. It seemed to be taking her longer to get home than she had originally thought.
It wasn't long before she was passing by 'Ramen Don', a little place where she'd eaten a couple of times since she came to 8-bit. The food wasn't half bad. If she was planning a quick stop, then she probably would've gone in there. But she had already decided it was time for her to go home, and so instead hugged her sketchpad closer to her again while she carried on homeward bound, ignoring most of the random talk about some guy called Chase doing some ritual in an alleyway. The people round here sure did come up with some crazy stuff round here - although the phenomena itself had been quite crazy too and Nym wasn't sure what to make of it.

Grasped tightly in his left hand was yet another cup of coffee, this time however, he had another one in his right, resting beside his hip. The fellow watched the crowds at the end of the alley, thankfully, no one was aware of his strange entrance; the only thing they saw was a tall man in a daze, standing suspiciously in a dark alley.
Demetri grinned as he took another casual sip of his beverage.
“Now,” Setting his drink on…the air, he went into his left pants pocket and revealed his cell. He slid the phone upwards, causing the wide screen’s display to light up, revealing a strange grid with countless yellow blips. This was a tool for those in his line of work, actually, more of an app. Droid certainly does do everything. With his thumb, he scrolled through the grid, until finally, he located a single red blip. “Not to far from here huh? The shopping district.”
He looked forward to see a small group of men dressed neatly in their black suits, they appeared to be having an off the record discussion.
“So, do you want to head down there and check it out?”
“Well…we are on break after all…”
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested…”
“Right! Come on, let’s head to the shopping district!”
Demetri grimaced, “Damn…the Equilibrium is only going to get more and more unstable if all of these people get near that anomaly. I’ve gotta---“ In a heartbreaking turn of events, his cup of joe came toppling from his makeshift shelf onto the cold concrete below, sending it’s creamy goodness into every crack, and his white gators.
“Son of a b---“

"That's not too far from here..." She muttered to herself.
No. Go eat. He said suddenly, causing her to scowl.
"I didn't ask for your opinion." she replied, now staring vacantly at the TV's, not really seeing them. An older man passed by her, giving her a puzzled look as he heard her muttering to herself. He shook his head, his drooping mustache waving around at the motion. damn crazy kids he thought, shoving his hands in the pockets of his coat and speeding up his stride, making as much distance between himself and the girl as he possibly could.
You can go see what happened later-right now you need to eat. He insisted. Jayx growled in protest. Look, even if you disregard my advice and instead attempt to go over there, you'll likely pass out on your way, and I can't do anything when you're lying unconscious on the sidewalk-at night- in the middle of a busy city. Jayx sighed, knowing He was right.
"Fine. What do you suggest I do?" She asked irritably, "I hardly have any money at all-and I'm not seeing any restaurants-"
There's a noodle place right over there-looks cheap enough. Jayx glowered as she glanced down the street to see there was in fact a ramen shop only a few stores away.
"What's that smell?" She muttered, wrinkling her nose.
It doesn't matter, it's still food and you still need to-
"Yeah, I know, I know! Will you shut up already, you've already won-i'm goin!" She said beginning to walk towards it. There were much more people congregating in this area of the city, though it had thinned out immensely compared to how it was during the day.
Someone has to look out for your well-being if you wont.
"Oh just go away!" She spat angrily.
Fine. He said as she entered the small establishment. Her eyes glanced up at the menu, then at the small advertisement sign on the counter which had been hand-made and brightly colored, reading: "Try our new Rainbow Noodles". There were three people near the counter-one of them a person Jayx recognized as Xavier Wallace-he was in her year; she didn't mind him too much-he was, after all, one of the few people who didn't assume she was a dim-wit incapable of speech-they had even had a whole conversation once...about snails, oddly enough...but it was still the most interaction someone had willingly had with her in awhile and she appreciated his effort, despite the rumors going around the school about her unstable sanity. He was currently having some sort of heated discussion with the man behind the counter, who couldn't look happier-and in front of her was another customer-she recognized him too as another High School student-though she couldn't place his name. After he had ordered the man turned his attention on her, and she opened her mouth to order, the Rainbow Noodles still on her mind...
Don't. Get what he got.
Jayx sighed, exasperatedly.
"I'll have whatever he just got." She said, motioning to the other customer. She then hopped up onto a seat at the corner of the counter, then began to fiddle with the chopsticks that had already been placed there-removing them from their paper package and separating them, frowning as the broke uneven.
I'm just not having any luck today, am I? She mused as she set the chopsticks down, placing her elbow on the counter, her head resting on her hand, and waited impatiently, her thoughts drifting back to the Shopping District...

All it took was a good aim, and the attaching of a blade to the end of what would normally be a simple walking stick. Then he lay in waiting. Watching the door from the dark, shadowed corner that he preferred. That was also where his private desk was. A small alcove, almost; all but separated from the other parts of the store. He spun the ebony cane in his hand, his naked fingers rolling the smooth cane in circles as he watched the door silently. Warily.
Eerily, he thought. This brought a frown and the thought was quickly murdered by hordes of imaginary demons running through his head. That voice of reason gave a single, tiny squeak before it was undone by his insanity.
How lovely.
He heard the door open and his attention was back to where it was supposed to be. He saw a teenager step through the tinted glass double doors and his lips peeled back in a sinister grin, "We're closed." he said, his voice smooth and calm. The kid froze, he must have been dared to step into Mr. L.'s dusty domain. Exactly as I presumed, Grace mused. Before the boy could move even a step further Grace reared back his arm and threw the cane - now spear - like a javelin. It hit the wall, inches from the teen, and stuck. The boy nearly wet himself, it seemed, as he scrambled to get out of the shop.
Mr. L. stood up slowly and smoothed his dark red turtleneck. He strode to the wall and yanked the cane free before returning to his desk. Returning the cane to its original form was simple enough. One needed only to unscrew the blade and replace it with the short, blunt, steel tip. These things he did, and he dropped the blade in a drawer before depositing his cane into a bucket beside his desk.
He simply loved frightening the youngsters.

She didn't get a moment longer to think about how incapable she was, as there was a sudden cry of fear that grabbed her attention. She looked up, only to see a figure somewhat bigger than herself scrambling out of a shop doorway. Apparently he didn't see her there, too gripped by some sort of fear or shock to notice that he practically ran straight into her. The force of the impact having knocked her aside, the boy not even turning back to check that she was alright. To stop herself falling flat on her face, she had to put her hands out infront of her, her sketchpad skittering a little infront of her.
"Ow..." She whined, carefully pulling herself up onto her knees, checking her hands to see that there were only a few minor scrapes - she would be fine. Nym looked over her shoulder, the boy that had knocked her over having disappeared down the street. "Thanks..." She murmered sarcasticly, hoping that he wasn't going to be at Atari High tomorrow, not that there was anything she could do about it if he was. It wasn't like she could speak to anyone, let alone stand up for herself.
With a heavy sigh, Nym pulled herself to her feet, edging over to her sketchpad and gently taking it from the ground. She couldn't help but moan a little as it was folded awkwardly in places from crashing to the ground. She'd done so well to keep this one flat as well. She dusted off the cover before hugging it close to her chest again, having pulled her sleeves over most of the palms of her hands so that there wouldn't be any blood spots on it from the little cuts on her hand.
She couldn't help but glance at the shop that the boy had run out of, looking up for a moment to see it's name. It was dark inside, so she guessed it was closed. What was possibly so scary about the place that could cause such a reaction?
Looking in the window, she could see sculptures inside, other things that glistened in the dim light from the street. It looked, interesting. Pieces made from glass dotted about the place, she couldn't help but stare at them with awe.
"Pretty..." She mumbled, wishing she could make things like this.
OOC Notes
I should REALLY turn that sign off He thought with a grumble, and was just about ready to shove the newcomer out the door , but to his surprise, it was a familiar face. They weren’t the best of friends, but they talked, and despite the rumors surrounding her, the girl was very cool people. Her name was Jayx, and they had a pretty damn interesting about snails; mainly about what it would be like to be one.
“Hm? Nice to see a new face here, welcome to Ramen Don Jayx.” He was a bit surprised to see her here though, she wasn’t a usual at Ramen Don, but business was business he supposed. To his relief, she didn’t give in to the temptation of the Don’s concoction, and instead, piggy backed on his referral to the blonde kid. Tonkotsu.
Feeling as if his work was done here, he strolled back over to the counter to take a seat himself, closest to the TV so he could laugh at the foolery going on in the Shopping District.
It was 9:30 now, and it looked like Go-To-Guy Chase had just finished his ‘spirit-quelling’. The crowd erupted into a thunderous applause and the TV personality flashed them all his winning smile.
“Nice.” Xavier shook his head at the man’s antics. But that grin of amusement on the young man’s face quickly wiped away to give way to one of immense shock; for the scene on the television suddenly went for celebratory, to horrific.
From somewhere in the alleyway they stood around outside off, a powerful stream of flame flew into the crowd. It didn’t touch the people nor Chase, however, what DID hit Chase was some sort of invisible ‘force’, it smacked the red head so hard he was sent tumbling deep into the crowd. The camera man must have began to make a break for it at that point like so many others did; but anyone watching could make out the sound of a fanfare of police and ambulance sirens.
“What the hell?” Xavier shot up from his seat, he was headed closer to the tv, but when that cut to nothing but snow, he spun around on his heel, and headed for the door. “I’m clockin’ out…” With a distant tone, he reached for his key-lanyard before he pushed against the door.
“You be careful down there!” The Don hollered out, Xavier was surprised for a moment, but he remembered that he was wearing the restaurant’s apron. The way the boss saw it, any type of advertisement was good, even if it meant a dead employee. He had to laugh as he poked his head back in to toss the apron back on the hook beside the door.
“Later!” There was something down there in the Shopping District, something his curiosity couldn’t let him ignore.

She stood, leaving a tip and thanking the man at the counter for the ramen; then turned and hurried out the door.
You're not going to go there. He warned sharply.
"Yes I am." She replied, determined. She wasn't going to allow him to talk her out of yet another incident-who knew how many more there would be?
This is a stupid idea and you know it. You saw what happened! Do you really want to walk into that mess?
"Yes, Yes I do. It's the most interesting thing that's ever happened here! Maybe it's the Bumblebee!!"
Not again with that theory-look, the bumblebee theory is nice, but when I said anything is possible-well this wasn't what I meant! You might get yourself killed!
"Well I'm sure that if I get myself killed now, it'll be in a more interesting fashion than I could ever have hoped for!"
This is moronic. You're smarter than this. Don't do it, please.
"Too late, I'm already half way there."
It's past curfew-Loralie's is going to-
"I Don't care what she does-and she doesn't really care what I do either-I'm almost 18 anyway, and once I am they're chucking me out as soon as the clock strikes twelve-the only reason I'm still living in that place is because of legal obligations."
You can't-
"Try and stop me." She said angrily as she stormed to the Shopping District. Already only a block away and she could see loads of firetrucks, cop cars, news stations and ambulances parked everywhere. She grinned in spite of herself. Finally, things were going to get interesting...

Lilli’s small fingers hovered a few inches in front of the cereal box that was (stupidly) placed all the way in the back of the white refrigerator. Her left hand gripped the handle of the refrigerator while her right struggled to grab the out-of-reach cereal box. She’d been doing this for about three minutes already and she still couldn’t reach the darn thing.
‘I thought I told mom and dad to put it on the freaking counter, next to the microwave, right before they left!’
Lilli’s parents were both doctors at the local hospital and so they were only home for a few hours each day. That didn’t mean that the hospital was constantly busy, though. No, just because of the strange events that had been happening recently, all the doctors were put on high alert or something like that. That’s what Lilli’s mom told her, nobody really knew.
Because of this, Lilli almost always had the house to herself. Some kids would call her lucky, since there were no parents to tell her what to do all the time. Lilli just thought it was boring. Where was the fun in staying in an empty house all the time? Sure, she had books, video games, and other things to do but those always eventually got boring too. Then again, there was always practicing with her power…
It had been a few weeks ago since Lilli actually used her power, which was manipulating wind. Though, that time was unintentional. In fact, almost every time Lilli used her power was always unintentional. It was probably because every one of those times involved her being mad as hell. She was lucky nobody knew about her power. One time, she had almost exposed her little secret to someone at school…but that was another story.
Lilli cursed as she stepped away from the fridge and walked out of the large kitchen. She came back a second later, holding a small wooden stool. She placed it on the white tile floor in front of the fridge, positioned her left foot on top of the stool, and brought her right foot up beside it. She smirked as she grabbed the cereal box. She stepped down from the stool and pushed it out of the way before placing the box on the granite counter.
The brown haired girl turned around, reached down and opened the dishwasher to retrieve a clean white bowl; in which she placed on the counter beside the cereal box.
She turned around again and opened the refrigerator to get milk…the milk that wasn’t even there.
She looked around the fridge, pushing things out of the way as well, but didn’t find any of the white milky substance that was known as milk.
“Shit!” Lilli slammed the refrigerator door shut. “What the fucking hell! Now I have to go buy something to eat. Thanks a lot for all your absolutely craptastic help parents.”
‘Calm down Lilli,’ she thought to herself, reassuringly. ‘You need some exercise anyways. And you might find something else to eat for dinner. Other than cereal.’She closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down, before a faint smile made its way up to her face. She opened her newly brightened eyes and her smile grew wider.
“That's better,” she said, happily.
She walked out of the kitchen and out onto the hallway towards her room. She walked passed two doors. The right was a bathroom, and the other was her parents’ room. Reaching the end of the hallway, she opened the door and walked into her room. It was a normal room, with a single twin sized bed in the center and the closet on the other side of the room facing the front of the bed, a brown dresser next to the closet, a small bookshelf that was beside the bed, and a door that led to another bathroom on one side of the room. Well actually…the room was kind of empty, now that she thought about it. Probably because Lilli generally spent more time in the living room than in her own room.
Her visit to her room was quick, since all she did was change out of her white t-shirt and jeans and into a brown blouse with two front pockets and black stockings. She also grabbed her cell phone, her house keys, and a twenty dollar bill, which she stuck inside the front pockets of her blouse.
Lilli walked to the front of her house and retrieved her black and white converse high tops that were placed in front of the door. She put them on quickly.
Finally, the girl opened the house door, stepped out, and turned around to lock it. She ran down the five stone steps that led to the door of the house and started making her way down the sidewalk.
‘I should probably get back soon,’ she thought to herself while staring up at the dark sky. ‘It’s almost ten-’
Her train of thought was interrupted by the loud wailing of police and ambulance sirens coming somewhere up ahead from where Lilli was. She could tell that whatever had happened was pretty serious, since it seemed like there were many trucks and cars up ahead. She contemplated on whether or not she should go any further.
‘Should I…I probably shouldn’t. But I have to pass by there to buy dinner. Unless I don’t eat dinner…’
Lilli continued on this inward battle with herself before finally making up her mind.
‘Ah what the hell…it wouldn’t hurt to just take a little look.’
She took off running at a light pace towards the commotion.

That was the best way to describe the sound Xavier's car made upon start up, remarkably though, it the car kept itself alive since the end of his sophomore year. He named her Black Lavender, simply because the outside was black, and the inside was a fuzzy lavender decor. Finally, the car was ready to go, so with a fire in his brown eyes, he grabbed the gear-shift and pulled it down to the 'D'.
"Let's go..." He pulled a single CD from the dashboard, it was riddled with scratches both on the back and front, it was burnt so there was no indication as to what was on the disc, he knew what it was of course, and with a devilish grin he popped the disc on in, and began his drive to the shopping district.
Everyone Nose, Theme of Action
* * *
Demetri leaned himself up against a random wall a ways from the shopping district. He watched as drones of people came running from a certain direction with looks of horror plastered on their face.
"Dammit," His eyes were focused on his cell, the once tiny red dot on the grid had grown into a giant blob.
"A Rift-Hopper. No doubt about it." His golden had a new fire in them, odd for one as aloof as he typically was. "Those idiots agitated it, now it's going on a rampage..." He sighed.
"Troublesome..."
[I'm sure you all figured this out, but start heading towards the Shopping District in the next few posts, come getcha some action!]]

"Yep."
"...In his underpants."
"So it'd seem."
"Isn't that indecent exposure?"
"Gettin' awful close."
"Shouldn't you be arresting him?"
"Prob'ly."
"Will you?"
"Nope."
The younger Kernow looked up from his seat on the mall bench to fix his father an incredulous stare.
"Why the hell not?" The boy asked, pointing at the offending figure with one of his crutches. "He's a mad, naked ginger running and dancing through the streets screaming about evil spirits."
John Sr. took a long drag from his cigar before answering.
"Because a mad, naked ginger runnin' and dancin' through the streets screamin' about evil spirits is the most goddamn entertainin' thing I've seen all day." He explained through his thick accent "'Sides, 'e 'as nipple rings. I refuse to be frightened of a man 'oo 'as nipple rings."
Jack didn't bother surpressing his snort.
The older man let out a laugh as he stepped away from the wall he'd been leaning on and offered his son a hand up, out of necessity more than anything, as Jack's recent spell of sickness had made even such a rudimentary movement an incredibly strenuous exercise.
"C'mon, I'll drive ye home in the squa-."
Suddenly, they felt it. Not an explosion, but a definite and unnatural 'thwoom'-ing sensation.
To top that sudden pulse of dread both father and son felt, the people outside had stopped congregating around the funny man in his underpants and were now running and screaming in that good old-fashioned 'Godzilla is Pissed' kinda way. Though he'd been off-duty for nearly an hour now, John immediately pulled out his pistol and turned to leave. He wasn't exactly pleased to leave Jack behind, but there'd be no way in hell he'd be able to get the near-crippled lad to his squadcar while wading through the terrified mob.
"Stay here." He ordered over his shoulder, emphasizing his point by both saying it in Welsh and in the tone he used to drill unruly recruits in. "Ya go out there, and ye'll only get trampled to death. I'll come back and collect ya in a tic."
"The fu-" Jack started, not exactly happy to sit pretty while something freaky enough to scare the knickers off thousands of people was apparently only a foodcourt and a glass wall away.
"BOY, YER A FRIGGIN' CRIPPLE, AND I WILL CRIPPLE YA MORE IF YA DON'T KEEP YER ARSE RIGHT WHERE IT IS."
Satisfied that that comment had managed to stifle the boy's protests, John hurried out the abandoned foodcourt and disappeared into the human sea.
Jack, stunned into silence, found himself only able to make one comment.
"Ah, shit."

Xavier's drive was cut short when he pulled up to the main street of the district, all around him, crowds of people were running wild amongst the flashing lights of the city. In a word, he was stuck. There was no way he could drive forward, not unless he wanted to mow down countless innocent people. With a grunt of frustration he turned to key into the off position; the car sounded like an airplane touching down as it turned off.
He removed the key, and hiked out of his window, touching down to the street below with as shaky balance.
Thankfully, he managed to park in an area where the crowd was less dense, so he could easily run towards the source of all the discord.
Quickly, Xavier ran towards the alleyway where it all started.
Ten minutes later he arrived at his destination. There was a police barricade all around to block any curious civilians, like himself, from getting inside. Around the same time he arrived, another cop, apparently formerly off duty, also showed up, of course, he was aloud on the premises. He knew he wasn’t supposed to be here, so instead, he went back just a bit, to a black mailbox a few yards away from it all, there he sat, back pressed against the cold steel of the object, gingerly watching the events ensue.
Xavier had chills running up and down his spine, there was something here, not only did the flames spitting from the ally prove that, but there was just some…presence he couldn’t ignore.
There was no time to reflect on that though, because at that moment, the invisible figure lashed out, attacking one of the on duty cops, he flew back, busting through the wooden barricade and into one of the police cars on the opposite side of the street.
The cop’s partners all hollered out in shock, Xavier would have too if he wasn’t trying to stay hidden, the cop that had just been attacked was gushing blood, from giant claw wounds on his torso.
“What….the…hell?”
OOC Notes
She heard the commotion before she saw it.
Charlotte had let off from work one hour and a half before, for the late shift to take over, where she worked at the music store. After she grabbed her things and left, she stopped at a few stores and another new one that had opened just to see what type of clothes they had. Shitty, as usual. No places sold any high boots or black converse, knee-high striped socks or just solid, skirts, maybe a pair of good ol' blue jeans, hoodies, or plain tees. And worst of all- no scarfs to be found. Anywhere.
But on her walk home, a crowd of people in an alley-way caught her attention. She quietly padded up and squeezed through the group of quickly confusion & chaotic people to see what this was all about. She finally got to where she could see the front. Nothing that she could see over this tall guys' head...
9:43
She checked her watch. I should really be getting home, it's getting late... Charlotte was really particularly concerned about what her pathetic mother thought when she strolled into their small apartment.
Then she saw it. Out of the corner of her eye, a little past the crowd & around the corner, slowly making its way closer...
Charlotte tried to breathe, close her eyes, tell herself it's not there, it's not real!
That's what she tried to convince herself before the crunch made her change her mind and look up at the bloody, slashed wounds of the police officer limply laying on the other side of the street.
OOC Notes
Stop.
She complied without thinking. Almost immediately after her action it happened.
She wasn't too far away from the car in question and she jumped, startled as the cop hit it with great force. She stared at him, petrified for a moment, her eyes fixed on the gaping wound-what looked like a massive claw mark-causing him to bleed freely and rapidly.
Get out of here, Jayx. He said harshly, but Jayx remained frozen in place. People were screaming and many had backed away. She was alarmed at how few people approached him. Instead, most seemed to be retreating slightly-too fearful to get closer, but too curious to run away.
Jayx! Listen to me! You need to get out of here NOW!!
Jayx shook her head slightly, attempting to get out of her daze, but all she could see was the crimson stream flowing from the man-she had never seen so much blood before.
MOVE!!!
Jayx retreated, turning and running-or attempting to. The crowd had grown so thick that she found herself incapable of making much distance from the man. People were moving around chaotically-some going forward to see what was going on-some hurrying back, also interested in preserving themselves- and some, like she had been, standing stock still, mesmerized by the incident. She found herself pressed against a wall, a moderately fair distance away from the commotion, but fortunately-or unfortunately, not far away enough not to see what was going on...
OOC Notes
I’ll sing for you! I’ll sing for you! I’ll sing of my love, my endless song!”
“You’re rather perky tonight, Aemyle,” A semi-amused, suit-clad woman said to the teal-haired young woman that marched happily beside her. Aemyle chuckled and stretched her arms out above her head.
“The concert was so much fun! I have not had so much fun in ages, Miss Carolyn!”
“What about the concert two weeks ago?” the older woman replied. Of course, she was only older by four years, as opposed to the twelve she thought she was. That thought made Aemyle giggle, but she would never tell her manager about this age difference. If she couldn’t convince the truant officers, then convincing her would be equally fruitless.
“But it seemed so much longer. I just could not wait for tonight!” Aemyle replied.
“But you know what tomorrow is, too, right?”
“I know, I know! School starts tomorrow,”
“Which is exactly why we should get you home sooner, rather than later,” Carolyn pointed out as she made as if to make the turn into the residential area. Down the other street, the one leading into the shopping district, something caught Aemyle’s eye.
“What’s going on in there? I hear sirens and yelling,”
“Nothing you need to worry your little head about,” Carolyn turned away from the shopping district and gestured for the singer to follow.
“But I want to see! Come on,” The alien ran in the opposite direction, turning a few yards away to yell “Come! Come!” to her manager.
She continued running after that, following the sounds of the crowd. Before long, she caught sight of news vans, and a crowd surrounding something beyond those vans. Turning around, she noticed the absence of a certain manager, and worried for a moment about how the woman would react to her running off. But Aemyle was an adult, wasn’t she? She would just have to apologize to Carolyn later.
Curiosity leading her forward, she pressed into the crowd, hoping to get a glimpse of whatever had drawn this crowd. She could hear bits and pieces of conversation; “He looks ridiculous.” “Do you really think this will work?” “Since when does dancing around in underwear repel evil? Last time I checked, it attracted evil! Hahaha!”
But before Aemyle could make it to the edge of the crowd, something alarming reached her ear. Cries of fear and shock rang out from behind her, and she turned just in time to see a string of flames zoom passed her, knocking her flat on her back. As she rose, the screams became louder, and people ran past her to get away from whatever invisible force was still present. There was a red head in his underwear not far off who lay flat on his back with a gash in his chest as if a monster had attacked him. Her hand went immediately to the holster attached to her leg, looking for her gun as she watched others knocked back by the invisible force.
“Ma’m!” She heard a man call behind her. Turning, she found it was a police officer, “Ma’m, you need to get out of here! It’s not saaaafe!” In mid sentence, he was sent flying as well. Aemyle let out a shriek, pulled her gun, and let out a blue shot of energy out in front of her, yielding an odd shriek from the air in front of her. So there was a monster here; had it appeared in the same manner as she?
OOC Notes
Xavier bit his lip; he was starting to think that coming here was a terrible idea. His heart was beating fast now, fast from the fear that he felt.
It only grew as the following occurred.
He didn’t see it all happen, he had his head turned away from the scene now, instead he was looking forward at the frantic crowd, people were evacuating the Shopping District like the whole area was on fire, he should have been with them. He should have moved a long time ago—but for some reason, his body wouldn’t budge.
In a fearsome display, the entirety of the police’s barricade was sent flying into the air. All around, wooden barriers were flying through the air, crashing on cars, rooftops and perhaps even people. The wind flew right out of Xavier’s body as one of the wooden objects feel only a hair away from his own feet. Quickly, he pulled his legs up against his body, in fear of yet another crashing down, closer this time. His body was shaking, this was way more action than he had bargained for.
“Dammit, dammit! Relax!” He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. For now, his body’s erratic movements had stopped, slowly, he took another look at the scene behind him—his eye’s widened to the size of saucers, each of the officers were laid out on the ground, either unconscious or…
There was a fearsome roar, from the center of all the chaos, and from midair ((which would have been where the beasts’ mouth was if Xavier could see it)) a geyser of furious flame erupted. Even from where he sat, he could feel the heat; he slammed his fist up against the mailbox, frustrated at his inability to do anything. It sounded like something had made the beast cry out in pain---was someone trying to fight that...force?

“This is bad…something of this high of a level, it could cause serious damage…” Demetri was running up against the current of people, he couldn’t risk warping in commotion like this, too many people could see, the again, they were probably blinded by terror. He looked down, frantically at the screen of his phone, the red blob was only getting larger and larger.
“Huh?” The dread locked man came to a quick stop, from further away, another, orange blip appeared on the grid. Moving extremely quick. “Orange…that’s…” He shook his head.
“Shit!”
* * *
Far, at the edge of all the confusion, a man clad in black arose from seemingly nowhere. His body was frail looking, even with the added girth of his cloak. he stuck out like a sore thumb among the people of 8-Bit, but he didn't seem to mind.
With a pair of glowing crimson eyes he strolled closer towards the scene. Whistling an ominous tune.
[[I'm probably gonna turn in after this one, I'll be up at like 10 something my time (eastern), sorry everyone]]

Anyways, enough of my whining.
We're having this Halloween shin-dig tonight so it's mass clean mode for the morning, but I'm gonna try and sneak on the computer every now and then throughout the day.
And sorry Neko, aha.
Re: [OOC] Epic Quest [it's begun!]
And my post reiterates much of yours, but I only did that because Aemyle's reactions contain an important build up to her big reveal. Bear with me on the length.

The battle with Zaghnol is over, ending with a reveal of its mechanic insides, and Demetri's appearance as the Champion of the coliseum. Unanimously pissed at how he's basically been screwing with them, the gang demands answers. He tells them that they can't talk in this Dimension with so many lingering ears (he'll explain why later, rules of the Gatekeeper and such)
so instead, he warps everyone to his place in limbo. A night club with eternal entertainment and a serious variety of guests.
Spread out, knocked out on couches in the upstairs VIP area, the gang awakes to find Doombringer's character pointing a gun at Aemyle's head. 'Welcoming' them to Demetri's place.
That's that. Nemeth, you can just wake up along with everyone else. Shouldn't be too hard to jump back in!

EDIT: Neko, the one mouthing off at Demi back in the coliseum was 'Him', Jayx's warrior friend, not her. Jayx is actually in love with Demetri XD
