Introduction
In the late 1980's, national disputes between the USA, and Soviet Union rose causing chaos in both countries, but more notably in America. Crime rates in America rose to dramatic levels and forced the United States to take a drastic measure. The once great city of New York, was forever transformed, into the jewel of New York, to one of the ugliest places of the world. The entire island of Manhattan was transformed into one giant maximum prison system for the whole country. The city, houses hundreds of thousands of prisoners, and has the highest security of any prison in the country. A 50 foot containment wall, made of concrete stone, has been erected along the New Jersey shoreline, across the Harlem river, and along the Brooklyn shoreline. This wall completely surrounds the island.
The bridges that once lead to the city, are now under heavy guard, and are heavily mined. As are the waterways that allow the Harlem River to continue flowing. The security of the island, as large as an army, encamps around the island, basing at a main area formerly known as Liberty Island. A lot of stuff goes on in New York now, but the rules of the game here are simple. Once you're in, you're not getting out.
The year is 2013. The Cold War, though it seems like it has decreased, still goes on, and America and the Soviet Union still go for each other's necks. Other countries are slowly getting involved and rumors are speculating that World War III is on the horizon. However, this all to you, is day old pizza. You're a prisoner of New York, and though you live life normal in this once great city, you are determined to get out. Chaos is not new to New York, but it's rising, and prisoners are starting to get killed at a frightening pace. Though you each have different sentences, you are desperate to make your sentence as short as possible, and though you may work with prisoners that you wish to kill, you all know that cooperation with each other is necessary, if you wish to break out of the world's most secure, and largest prison system known to man...
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-This New York is not too different from the New York we have today. Though technology is scarce, as is gasoline, electricity, and sometimes even food.
-Food is supplied at certain locations by military forces each month.
-There are little to no weapons such as firearms in New York. Firearms are a sign that you are a police officer, or someone high up. Though if you have a firearm, you could be a target for trouble.
-The city subways are inhabited by a group of prisoners, simply called crazies. They are known for their nighttime raids, and monthly hunts for food. They are wild, savage, and take what they can, when they can.
-There are two major gangs in New York currently. The Skulls, and the Turks. Each are known to have bloody brawls with each other, and are each run by people self-claimed to be higher up.
-The bridges that lead off the island lead to the only known entrances of the containment wall. These bridges however are heavily mined, damaged, and are watched over 24/7 by security along the wall.
-The wall is patrolled 24/7 with security units. In some areas, the wall has incinerator units, and electric fencing.
-Due to certain things in time that did not happen, certain buildings still stand, and certain buildings were never built. Notably, the World Trade Center still stands, and the new Yankee ballpark was never built. (That's just one example)
-The outside world to a lot of you remains a mystery. Not much news enters New York City.
-As mentioned already, a lot of things are scarce. New York City's streets still have cars, but due to the lack of gas, not many work. Some cars have been made to be powered by steam, but only on rare occasion. And if you do have gas, you are gonna be a member of the Skulls, or the Turks, like it or not. They will want your gas, and they will do anything to make you their supplier.
-Security very rarely will patrol inside the city.
More notes to come.

Rules
-In this RP, I don't care much about searing. I don't wish to read a bunch of f-bombs every post though...
-The plot is always in the makes. You got any ideas, go ahead and PM me. I am open for more ideas than the ones in my head.
-Have fun, but consider your other RPers. What I mean there, is don't make it so you're the only one having fun, and everyone else has a bone to pick with you.
-If you wish to control multiple characters, be my guest, but I'd prefer less than five. I know people who insist on controlling a lot of RP characters, and it confuses me to the point of wanting to quit an RP.
-My friend has ways of ensuring you read plots. I'll just trust you know to read the rules and plot, but do NOT ask me any questions regarding plot that has been stated already, or we may have a problem. I am glad to clarify things, but I don't like sounding like a broken record.
-Please please please please please.......use proper grammar. I understand not all of us have the GPA of College graduates, but let's try to make our posts as easy to read as possible. This does NOT mean half-ass the post.
-I'd prefer each post to be at least a paragraph in length. Now I will be lenient on this rule, mainly because, let's face it. If you're in a convo with someone, there's not much to do than reply and maybe add two or three more sentences. I'm not saying that in convos, you need to work your brain to fill an entire paragraph, but if you don't have a good enough reason not to post a paragraph, well......lets just say, details count and stuff.
-If there is a RPer that is getting on your nerve for whatever reason, please do what you can to reason with that person before coming to me. There's an RP I'm in where it seems that all we do is point fingers at everyone. I'm kinda surprised the RP is still alive after all the bombs we've dropped to be honest. Now if your reasoning fails, and the problem worsens, I will be glad to help sort stuff out, but I will probably NOT take a side, as any time I have taken a side, I always seem to end up in a hot spot. I will do all within my power to appease both ends.
-PLEASE......stay active. If you're gonna go on vacation for a couple weeks, let us know ahead of time. At least a day or two in advance (though a week is preferred). That way we can make some arrangements as to what we can do with your character, shelf it for a while, or grant someone else temporary control (the only godmode I am okay with). We all prefer if you did this instead of wait until the last minute and post in the OOC saying, "I'm going to Paris for a couple weeks, won't be online much, okay bye bye."
-Be sure to check the OOC rules when I say there's an update. If there's an update, I expect you to get in the loop with it. I don't take time to write these rules out for my health (though my fingers get good typing practice, on this crappy keyboard that doesn't always type a letter when I hit it...)

OOC Notes
A man sat in one of the many abandoned, aging buildings of what was once called Time Square. He smoked a very bad, cheap imitation of a cigarette. It wasn't anything at all like the real thing, but the military never supplied them with smokes, and the only cigarettes anyone could find anymore either belonged to the higher-ups in the Skulls and Turks, or came when new prisoners brought them in. At least the police weren't so bad as to take them away like most other stuff they did.
This man had been here for 28 years now, and was just sick of this place. RUmors were speculating rises in national crisis, and the prisoners were getting out of line because of it. Of course the people who kept them in here didn't care less. If you died in New York, they didn't care. ALl they cared about was people staying in. Three prisoners were shot dead trying to escape via a makeshift raft the other day.
He took a puff of the cigarette before flicking it away. He had to get out. But he wouldn't be able to do it on his own. He had to put together a team...
He walked outside lighting up another bad cigarette. The streets were pretty much empty as they usually were, say for the few stragglers. He began to walk in hopes of finding some people to help. He had several plans...he had to find the right people...
OOC Notes
She couldn't find any thing in the store, she she decided to venture outside it was okay during the day time but your likely to get caught by the Crazies and end up as somebodies weird test subject at night. As she walked out into the light of day, she started to search for something that would just slightly extend her reach. She turned to look down the road and saw a guy he didn't look like he would try to jump her but she kept an eye on him anyway. She ran across the street, where there was a pile of junk. She started to dig through it, and found an old plunger, "This will work great", she said. When she went to go back into the grocery store she looked back down the road at the guy, he looked to be about ten years older than Kaylyn, really tall, very tanned skin, and dark hair. He was also quite muscular but that was common on the island, because you work so hard to survive.
Now Kaylyn had a choice to make she could go back to the store now and risk this guy finding out what she was up to and possibly try to kill her for the food. It wouldn't surprise her it had happened before, or she could wait until he goes past and then head back into the store. But then again he could just crazy and come after her cause she a woman. Finally her stomach won over her brain and she made a run for the grocery store. Inside she made her way back to the shelf and once again crawled under it. Using the plunger to push the can, making it role into the adjacent isle. "Yes!", she cheered, as she ran around the corner. But what she found was not a can of food but a can of motor oil, she fell to her knees on the floor and began to cry into her hands. She was beginning to wish she would have asked them to off her when she stepped foot in this hell.

The man stopped once Yacob could see the rot on his teeth. "I said, I want my watch back boy...", his bad breath emitting from his mouth. The man gave a gritty look and flicked the cigarette out of Yacob's ear. Yacob lost it. He grabbed the man by the scruff and with his right hand socked him square in the jaw. Instantly the man fell to the ground, bleeding from the mouth. "Agghhh!! Get him!" the wounded man demanded. The gang of men picked up any objects around the crate for weapons. Empty bottles to an old shoe. Yacob took two steps back, looking for a way out of the alley way, but his back was against the dead end, he had cornered himself. The gang of men rushed at Yacob, the leading member threw a glass bottle towards Yacob, as he ducked down out of the way, Yacob could feel his head spiraling down towards the concrete. A second member of the group had kicked the side of Yacob's head in as he was dodging the bottle. Yacob curled up on the ground, hiding his face, feeling each blow from the gang of men. Kicks, punch's and foreign weaponry crashing down is all that Yacob could feel. After what seemed like forever, it finally stopped. Yacob rolled over to look up towards the sky, he could see the bloodied mouth man smiling down at him. "Put it this way, we weren't going to let you walk out anyway, you just made more of an excuse". The man tapped the side of Yacob's cheek, before booting him in the head. Everything went black.
Yacob opened his eyes to the sunlight, blinding him. His head was thumping sore, and body flushed with pain. Yacob forced himself to his feet, falling right back down onto his backside. Back against the cold bricks, he leaned over and picked up his cigarette off the ground. Putting it back in behind the ear it came from. His pockets were empty, wrist bare, and still thirsty. They took everything back. "All for a drink and a watch..." Yacob chuckled to himself, feeling his ribs flood with pain. Yacob knew his injuries were not extreme, but would take a day or two to heal over. Nothing Yacob hadn't felt before, you could say he was use to it. Not knowing how long he was knocked out for, Yacob tilted his head up towards the circling clouds. Wondering if he would ever get out of New York.

Roger had been walking down the street, just thinking. A song was stuck in his head, and wouldn't leave. Didn't know the song, didn't konow the band, just knew about them. Whatever.
It all left his head when he saw a woman, younger, give him some looks. Roger was still a ways away, but she looked...desperate? She couldn't be a member of the Crazies, it was still like one in the afternoon. But after a period of them looking at each other, she came across what looked like a toilet plunger. Whatver she needed that for. New Yorks plumbing system was looked at 24/7 by the security and their crew, though Roger was sure twhey'd let them all die in filth if they simply stopped caripng as much as they did, which wasn't that much.
She went ionto what once was a supermarket grocery store, and he followed from a distance. He followed her to a popint where he watched her toss an old can away an d begin to cry.
"You're crazy if you think you'd find anything in these places..." Was all Roger could manage to say.
[i]Way to go Roger...[\i]

“I need to get the fuck out here, me, Harrison, it’s a whole damn city full of fucked over people, there’s gotta be a way.” He said sighing just happy he could soak in the sun’s rays, wondering if some of the new prisoners would have brought in anything he could smoke.
Groaning he got up, he wanted to meet up with the new prisoners see if they had any smokes or some sort of food source they managed to sneak in.
“Let’s see what the outside world been cooking up, while I been up in here rotting” He said walking away from the broken taxi.
