Name: Katsuo Abinji
Nickname: Satoru
Appearance: http://dra90nboi.deviantart.com/art/Nin ... -147302223
Age: 83 years old, yet still active and strong
Role: Master of the Shifting Shadows
Ninja Rank: Shadow Eye
Armor: Katsuo rarely wears armor, as he never really needs it. In his study hang his two old suits of armor, pictured here: http://valerianastock.deviantart.com/ar ... -113325876
The first one, the black one, is clearly much newer and less worn than the second. He was awarded it when he was given the rank of blood moon, many, many years ago. In the rare occasion of a battle or duel, this is what he would probably wear.
The second suit is much older, his first suit of armor given to him when he joined the shifting shadows. He never wears it, but it still remains in his study.
Weapon: He rarely goes on missions, and weapons he rarely uses. In his study hangs his old katana, named ‘Ryuu’. A pic of Ryuu: http://steelatlas.deviantart.com/art/Ka ... -105504449
Skills: Master of All skills
Bio: (ooc: Too much info, had to break it down into parts.)
How he came to be: A long love story of twisting plots and daring escapes, but in the end the result was clear. The serving maid, and the wealthy landowner she loved were separated by war only days after she conceived her first child. She kept the pregnancy a secret, in fear of being put to death or worse, as fornication was not allowed in the house where she worked. So she ran, and finding a job as a tailor’s assistant settled down to have her baby in the small fishing village of Tou-kwan
Early childhood: A healthy baby boy, he grew up strong with a mind full of wild dreams and an imagination beyond his own good. His mother was poor, but he never seemed to mind, growing up content yet alone, as his crazy ways was enough to keep the other children away from him.
Late childhood: When he was ten he began to see that he was alone, and tried very hard to get the other children to like him. He finally went over to a field the children loved to play at, and upon arrival he was brutally beaten up by an older boy. Full of anger, he resolved to get even with the boy. For the next couple years he worked hard, learning to fight from an old ex-soldier who lived on the edge of the village. The soldier however, saw promising things in young Katsuo, and sent word to an old friend of his at the Shifting Shadows.
Young adulthood: When Katsuo was thirteen he was whisked away in the night by a man with feet as soft and quick as a cat, yet strong and deadly as a lion. He dressed entirely in black, and introduced himself to Katsuo as the ‘Dark Ninja’. He told Katsuo of a ninja school high in the trees, and of what he could learn there if he came. So Katsuo went home and said goodbye to his dear mother, and went with the dark ninja, named ‘Shimata’, to the Shifting Shadows. There he began his training as a ninja, and with his lateral mind and overactive imagination, he began to progress differently than the other students. Faster in some areas, yet slower in others, yet always fully dedicated and with an incredible amount of diligence and industriousness.
Middle-years: Just days before his thirty-ninth birthday, Katsuo was awarded the rank of Heavenly Moon, for a mission to rescue Shimata and several other ninjas. Shimata was one of the few who did not make it, but he saved multiple lives. To him this signifies his becoming a true ninja, and he sees it as the official beginning of his adult life, as it was also the day he met Katyia. She was a true ninja, coming from another school to complete her training at the shifting shadows. They were assigned on a mission together, and the way they worked together was something that can only be described as perfect. All of his small quirks were corrected by her, and he unknowingly corrected her own. He proposed to her two years later, and they were set to wed a year from that day. Four months later, on a mission against the Blackguard, Katiya was captured and killed. Distraught, Katsuo went on a solo mission without orders and murdered six of the Blackguard’s men, earning him the rank of Blood moon as well.
Elder years: After the death of his fiancée he changed, becoming much quieter and calmer and less social. It was during this time he connected fully with the elements, learning how to manipulate them in a way few others knew how. He never showed his grief to anyone though, remaining the image of the wise yet hardened ninja. The day he became of age to do so he was awarded the Divine Eye, and was essentially the right-hand-man of the master of the school. So when the master of the school breathed his last, it was to no surprise that Katsuo was made Master of the Shifting Shadows. He has held this position with maturity and grace, without haughtiness nor pride, and with wisdom and humility.
History:
Upon arrival, he was a quiet fellow, hardly interacting with the other ninjas, who mostly shunned him for merely being different. Shimata was his mentor and confidante, so it was only natural when he was captured for Katsuo to attempt a rescue mission. But as I have told you, Shimata did not survive, yet Katsuo saved others and was awarded Heavenly Moon.
Now respected, he changed some. He became friendlier, joking and laughing with the other ninjas in the tavern and openly training with them instead of separately. That is, until he met Katiya. When they were together they spent all their time as such, training together, eating together, the ideal example of ninja love. That is, until she died.
After Katiya’s passing, Katsuo went back to his old quiet, solitary ways. He spent all his time on his studies, and as a result excelled as a ninja but lost himself as a person. Whether or not he ever found himself is unknown, as when he became master much changed.
As master, his behavior to the other ninjas changed greatly. He stopped ignoring them, but didn’t engage with them either. He began a strange new practice, unnamed but still known to all the ninjas. After any promotion, the ninja gets to go to Katsuo’s study, where Katsuo shares a bit of wisdom with them. This is considered a privilege to most of the ninjas.
