Background:
The year is 2016. There has been a breakthrough in bioengineering. For many years, there has been an effort to make the adrenal gland accessible at will. This was made possible by a serum, nicknamed Stim, developed by an American medical research corporation. Medical science is typically aimed at improving human life. This research team's goal was to harness the human body's natural ability to amplify itself in survival situations, and make it available for everyday use. This would make it possible to improve livelihood and productivity.

Since the administering of Stim to the public would undoubtedly lead to a severe increase in crime, the precaution was made to administer first military and law enforcement. Over the course of the next few months after the serum's completion, the initial test subject, consisting of various animals, showed drastic increase in strength, agility, reflexes and critical thinking. Noting no negative side effects, the Stim was then tested on human subjects with similar results, leading to the administering of the serum to the military and law enforcement of the country.

Stim was very successful. Crimes were significantly less successful, and eventually the crime rate dropped sharply. Seeing the positive results of their creation, it was desired that the serum go nationwide, so that the populous could reap the benefits from the serum. Their decision was a direct result of their lust for human advancement. All aspects of human life would never be the same. After it's success in America, Stim was released to the rest of the world as well. This was a decision partially based on the growing monetary greed of those in charge of the company that produced the serum. The product had been become a success and was making them a lot of money. Their avarice got the better of them, causing Stim to go global. The other countries of the world being allowed to have access America's production advantage would ultimately be the least of their worries.

A year later, upon a routine examination of the animal test subjects, the researchers found that there initial subjects had either died or gone completely insane. It was agreed upon that this was nothing to worry about, seeing as animals are inferior to human beings as far as their genetic makeup. There was also the fact that this corporation was adamant about their worldwide release of Stim. Thus, the reports of the negative side effects went unreported.

Storyline:
It is now 2020. In Approximately 65% of the world's population is either dead or have been reduced to seemingly mindless beings that want nothing more than to sate their obscenely destructive and ravenous nature. 25% remain completely unchanged due to the fact that they did not decide to take the serum. They now have either been killed off by the savage creatures, or fighting to survive in a wasteland where there is no such thing as safety or sanity.

The remaining 10% are the only chance humanity has left for survival.
