Flies in the Brain

Introduction

.:Intro:.

The changes are slim to none of stumbling across somebody who could truthfully tell the exact year, or even the date. Looking at what's left of the world and the tiny hints previous civilizations have left behind, one could say this lifetime takes place in the future. This 'almighty futuristic civilization' hardly does the previous ones dating all the way back to the cave-days of early man any justice.

People and creatures run wild in the great heaps of rubble littering the areas of what once was a major city in Europe. Clothes are scarce, so most tend to go without --comically running about in their birthday suits with tires or plastic cones on their heads for one reason or another. A governmental structure has not managed to be formed (and maintained) for more than several sun turns, so, people have simply learned to be disconcerting of any sort of central control. This, as one may have guessed, makes for quite the dystopia.

Enough people have a tendency to die so early on that they'd have Maat plucking herself silly if she bothered to even weigh the damn souls anymore, and rape has become just about as common a greeting as a 'hello'. Money is a fantasy item that some of the more 'crazy' occupants of the New World talked to themselves about, and it currently has no real appeal to the everyday person. Naturally, many cults and such have been tried to form in vain attempts to shine light onto the new world and reunite the lands and such, but many end up falling through, dying off, or eating their babies --all of which have at one point or another, happened.

However, despite the destruction and damage many years of radiation from the effects of nuclear fallout years before have ravaged the people, there is a group who survived. It is not a large group, for large groups tend to spiral out of control rather quickly, but it is a relatively sane group --and that's more than enough to ask of today's society.

The Group has no name as of yet, mainly because meetings debating the discussion of names usually result in somebody's fist in another's face. The exact numbers of the group shift a lot, so it is difficult to say exactly how many they have at one time, but currently, they have nearly thirty men, women and children. It centrals itself along the Seine river in France, south of what was once the city of Rouen, in a small village. There is no official building, as some of the members have developed an unexplainable phobia of roofs, and would prefer to stand out in the rain and cry then stand under one --so as a result, they tend to stay near the ruins of houses instead of residing inside them. There are of course members who have no fear of the decaying houses and who gladly make themselves at home inside.

Life is not easy, although it differs on a day-to-day basis. Food is scarce. Often the main members of The Group will get together and make a selective choice on which person out of their group they will butcher and cook. Water is not a problem however, as the Seine river still flows strong --partially radiated or not. Babies are very precious if they are not stillborn, and often people will squabble over possession of the infant, or altogether steal it from it's mother. The Group has a tendency to step in when it comes to this though, and members can be kicked or eaten for such a crime.

This is the world we live in... And as long as you don't talk too much (to yourself or otherwise), make an attempt to cover something other then your head, don't have sticky fingers, and want to feel like there's something more to it all, we'd like you to join The Group.
