Description

Image

Image
Name: Yoshino Mei Sohma
Nickname: "Yoshi"
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Zodiac Animal: Tiger
Picture: See above.
Deeper Description: Somewhat small for her age, Yoshino stands at an even five feet two inches tall. Her body type is slender yet strong with a flat stomach, arms and legs proportionate to her body, small hands and feet to match. Her skin is a tad lighter than ivory, making the girl appear rather luminescent at times, but can darken quickly with time spent outdoors in the sunlight. Though, sadly to her, this lovely tan fades just as fast as she can attain it. Adding to her innocent appearance, Yoshino has white-pink hair which is usually kept in two messy ponytails as well as inquisitive red eyes.
Yoshino can typically be found to wear a plain black tied-spaghetti-strap camisole dress that falls just above her knees and is trimmed with red and white ribbons. This is often paired up with dark socks and shin-height black lace-up boots or, if she is home, bare feet.
Personality: As the Tiger of the Zodiac Yoshino is one to be somewhat bossy, often without even meaning to behave as such, which allows her natural leadership skills to shine through. Which, speaking of leadership, is often backed up by her wit, resourcefulness and determination to succeed. Her moods can change swiftly although she always appears rather composed, especially if under great stress. Though this never fails to hide how kind-hearted Yoshino truly is and can be. The type to be there for others, 'round the clock, no matter what else could possibly be worrying her mind at the time. She's the girl who'd put aside her own important duties for another. Additionally, Yoshino holds a sweet yet also seductive side of herself.

History: Yoshino was the quiet one, especially during her youth. She always had an odd fear of the God of the Sohma family, as well as some curiousity she could never quench. A girl who loved to read, sing and dance; sometimes all at once, though that had always ended with fits of laughter on her part. Even as a child, she'd held a sort of grace and elegance in her movements that seemed to have come with her curse as the Tiger of the Sohma family.

She'd never been overly close to her parents but she'd been a dutiful daughter in making sure she did her part in ensuring chores were completed and her homework was done to perfection, especially now that she no longer lives with them but at a shrine with a few others of the Sohma family.

Yoshino never had many 'friends', per se, as she didn't like letting people past the mental walls she kept built up within her. Although, she always had plenty of other children, mainly of the Sohma family, around her to keep her company. She was never lonely in anything nor was she ever unhappy, doing all the things she loved regularly.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

Yoshino woke up during the early hours of the morning, early enough to sit and enjoy watching the sun rise before she thought about preparing for the long day ahead of herself. She was in the shower when she heard her fellow Sohma's, or at least the one's she lived at the Shrine with, get up and begin their own day.

This was her cue to get a move on and she quickly finished up, dried off and got dressed in the high school uniform she was required to wear. By the time she was ready to leave her room she had dried her white-pink hair and placed the long strands in two loose ponytails below her ears and her school blouse and skirt were perfectly creased in all the proper areas. A quick glance in her mirror told her she was good to go and, without another moment's hesitation, the Tiger of the Zodiac grabbed her school bag, shoved her feet into her shoes and confidently strode from the room.

She had a meeting, then school, to attend.

---

After the meeting, Yoshino tiredly rolled her piercing red eyes as she stepped from the large house the 'God' lived in. How she hated to enter that place, to sit under Rin's cold glare as she made sure that everything in the Sohma family was in order. That thought sent shivers down the confident teenager's spine as she quickly left the porch of the detested building behind her and came upon the group that gathered at the gates though she didn't stop much longer than a moment as she called to the others who would be attending school with her.

"See you at school!"

She kept walking as she half-turned to shoot a cheerful smile and wave at the others before continuing on to attend classes. This was just how Yoshino was; confident, cool yet kind, and determined to always be on time. Sure, she didn't like being alone but being late certainly trumped that any day.

Kenji realized the time and began to jog to school, he had taken so much time staring at the Sohma's that he was making himself later.

He entered school running down the corridor towards his class. He had one minute to be sitting down in front of Hama, the teacher who truly hated his guts... otherwise it was another detention.

It wasn't that Kenji hated school, it just reminded him of the fact he didn't have all that many friends... which of course was his own fault because he rarely said 'hello' to anyone.

Finally he pushed open the door, and class had already started.... Damn it.

' Late again are we, sit down please and I might be able to get on with the rest of the lesson'.
' Sorry Hama Sensei...' Kenji replied as he went to sit down.

He often sat next to Yoshino Mei Sohma, she had always interested him, her eyes always caught his attention... reminding him of his days in Cornwall. He gave her a little nod before getting a pen from his bag.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

Despite her late start leaving the Sohma estate, Yoshino found herself arriving in her first class of the day only a few minutes before the bell rang. She found her usual seat in the back row and right beside the wall full of windows, her favourite place to sit just so she could gaze outside. Also, it didn't hurt that the teacher, Hama-sensei, had a sort of soft-spot for the Sohma and didn't center her out and allowed the pink haired teenager a sort of peace within the classroom.

She pulled out the necessary books she would need for the class, setting them on her desk in an organized manner, before she reached for a pen. A sigh escaped her lips as she sat back in her seat, bringing the pen to her lips as she looked to the blackboard and considered the haiku written in kanji upon its surface.

Over the wintry
forest, winds howl in rage
with no leaves to blow.
- Natsume Soseki

Japanese Literature, if she were to be completely honest, was a class Yoshino truly didn't mind. She rather enjoyed thinking about stories and poems, both classical and modern. Lately though, her class had begun examining poetry and it appeared Haiku was to be the class discussion for the day. Particularly the one on the board. Though, Yoshino was unimpressed by the lack of actual work and tapped her pen lightly on her desk a few times as though to help keep this feeling from showing on her calm expression.

The teacher read the words off the board and introduced the topic of the day before he was suddenly interrupted, mid-sentence, by a tall, dark haired male who slid the door open and stepped into the class. The pink-haired female was amused to see the tanned face of Kenji Hima, a student who seemed to be regularly late, as he quickly apologized to the teacher and found his typical seat by her.

A class comedian, Kenji was never one to be taken seriously by the other students or Hama-sensei. In fact, Hama-sensei made his annoyance and frustration with the boy rather clear in his actions alone, let alone the way he spoke.

With this thought in mind, Yoshino raised an eyebrow at the young man and leaned over her desk with her open notebook to take notes, hiding the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips in doing so. How typical of him, she couldn't help but think with a slight shake of her head. She shifted her hold on the pen and pressed it to the paper, dismissing all thoughts that were unrelated to the course.

Kenji sat down, slightly embarrassed. He hated school, he hated being confined or being made to do something.... freedom was all he truly wanted. It was the same everyday, he was often late and punished by Hama-Sensei for it too, he knew that this time he would be punished too unless he paid attention.

Looking to the blackboard in front if him, he firstly noticed the old chalk stains in the left hand corner and began staring at them to figure our what they might say...

Procrastinate nothing but book

Procrastinate night and black

Procrastinate now and brake

None of his attempts at making sense of the old stains came to anything. In fact, he was sure he was just seeing things to fill time before the end of lesson.

Look at the board Kenji He thought to himself before idly scanning the Haiku that was written in Kanji.

Over the wintry
forest, winds howl in rage
with no leaves to blow.
- Natsume Soseki

What did it even mean, was there really any sense to be of something so short he wondered. It was often Kenji's downfall when it came to words that he never read between the lines. Rather he saw everything for what is was, he saw everything as it seemed on the outside before considering what was on the inside. Making him rather recluse and lonely.
When Kenji finally decided no sense could be make of the Haiku he put his pen to paper, while Hama questioned other students about the 'Deeper meaning'.
He began to draw a tree, with a pile of leaves at the bottom with a tiger lying among them...

' Often you have to look for the deeper meaning of a Haiku, there are so many... and no answer is wrong because it is all about how it makes you feel. What does it make you think...... Hima?!'

The loud Echo of 'Hima' rung into Kenji's ears, causing him to jump up and knock his notepad under Yoshino's desk. He had no idea what he had been asked, he looked around sheepishly to see if any of the answers jumped out at him. Nothing.

Hama pointed to the door, Kenji picked up his bag and left the class. He headed back outside into the large field where students often had their lunch and hangout... Kenji sat under and old withering tree.... He totally forgot about his notepad.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

Yoshino put up her hand with her response on her lips, turning to look at the teacher only to catch sight of the doodle on Kenji's page as it slowly blossomed from random lines to become a tree with a pile of leaves and a tiger lying in them. The tiger was what caught her eye and the sight of it caused the Sohma to fall silent and pull her hand back down, shaking her head as Hama-sensei paused to look at her curiously before continuing in his own speech.

The tiger.. how..?

Curious, piercing red eyes shot over to the raven haired male as he boredly added to his drawing. Only to be pulled from his daydream-like state by the raised voice of the bespectacled teacher at the front of the class and result in his jump up from his seat, his notepad flying under Yoshino's own desk. The female's eyes widened as she raised her legs up to avoid being hit by the bound book of paper, her face pale as she stared down at the offensive drawing.

Not that it was truly offensive to her but.. it struck to close to home, what with the curse of the Tiger being her infliction..

Yoshino shook her head free of these troublesome thoughts as she quickly bent and picked up the pad, flipping it closed and hiding it under her now closed notebook. She raised her hand and stood as she was called upon.

"To myself," she started, her voice musical despite the plain topic, "I feel that Soseki-san is speaking of how dead and tired one can feel, especially during the cold winter months, and the lack of energy to fuel other emotions that would otherwise become apparent, say, during a time of warmth and cheer." She bowed as she returned to her seat, only to hear the bell sound as she did so.

Hama-sensei was quiet as he nodded, clearly giving her theory some thought, before looking to the rest of the class who waited in their seats. They were staring expectantly at the teacher who, now, spoke. "I'll see you all after break to continue speaking about your thoughts on this Haiku."

With that said, every student rose from their seats and gathered their things together to run off and see their friends for the few minutes they had before classes resumed. Yoshino, on the other hand, gathered her belongings and piled them into her bag before swiftly exiting the classroom and rushing down the hall with the grace of the tiger.

---

Yoshino found Kenji by the withered old cherry blossom tree she, herself, often sat by within a few minutes of searching. God, he was nearly as predictable as she was!

"Hey, Hima-san!" Yoshino wasn't one to call someone by first name unless asked, nor one to not use honourifics. The notepad the male had dropped was in her hands though she didn't hand it to him as she came to a stop a few feet from him. Instead, Yoshino very purposely opened the pad and flipped through a few of the pages. Her expression was rather blank, though her eyes were narrowed, as she glanced at several drawings before snapping the book closed and holding it out toward Kenji. "Here, you left this in the classroom." She watched him for his response to her Alpha-female act, the way she only behaved when she felt threatened or as if the family secret was threatened. And, well, she felt as though it was but decided to play it off with a small smile.

"Your drawings are very good," the pink haired female murmured, her voice soft as she made a motion as though to leave. "I couldn't help but notice the one you were making in Japanese Literature," she added before waving her hand to the pad that Kenji now held. "But the others are.. wow." Her expression showed her sincerity as she sent another smile toward Kenji.

Kenji sat beneath a withering blossom tree, the pink petals fell softly onto his head. There was a cold breeze, with a scent of morning due but it was nothing compared to the smell of the crisp salt sea of Cornwall. As Kenji's mind drifted to the thought of his Mother's home he wondered whether he would ever truly be happy with life. So far all it had done was knock him down.

"Hey, Hima-san!"

His thought process was broken, he gazed up with a dizzy expression, it took him a few minuted to come back to reality. He noticed that she was flicking through his book.... rather than handing it straight back. He stood up.

"Here, you left this in the classroom."

Even though Yoshino had snapped the book shut, and came across slightly rude, Kenji gently took the book from her hands and stared into her red eyes, trying to find the right words to say. He wondered whether he had offended her in some way.

He chose to say nothing, rather he noticed the cherry blossoms that fell landed on her shoulder, they were the same colour as her hair. This was truly memorizing to him, she was standing there in front of him, she was being defensive but no matter which way he looked at it she was rather beautiful.

He soon snapped out of yet another daydream as she made indication of leaving:
"Your drawings are very good,"....."I couldn't help but notice the one you were making in Japanese Literature,"

He didn't quite catch the last part of what she had said, but as she turned away he felt an urge to continue the conversation.

'Sohma-San... I apologize that you had to come find me to give me this.... I should have been listening rather than doodling anyway.' He edged forward a little to catch up to her.
' The picture in literature, was what the Haiku said to me... I couldn't write it down so I drew it instead... the tiger can sometimes symbolism loneliness... but it is also beautiful just like the poem.... You can have it if you like?'

He really had no idea where all of that had come from or why he offered one of his poor drawings to her.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

Yoshino paused as the male replied to her, something she hadn't entirely expected. She'd noticed how Kenji had begun to daydream again, his eyes making it clear he was zoning out while he'd stared at her.. and, to be honest, she'd found it slightly unnerving as he'd done so. Was something on her face? Her uniform? She dropped her unique coloured eyes to catch a glimpse of her skirt, just in case.

However, despite this, she listened and even turned back to face him to give her full attention with a confused smile on her lips. He was apologizing to her? What a curiously strange, and normal, boy. This was yet another puzzle to her as not many people showed her such a kindness.. Most people just continued on with their lives, not that she really minded much anyway, but Kenji seemed to be different.

"Ah, yes," Yoshino mumbled, internally berating herself for being so stupid and jumping to conclusions. "Of course, it was no trouble at all. Really." She pretended not to notice as he took the tiniest of steps forward, toward her. Did he intend to befriend her? She didn't know how to really do such a thing, gain friends.. Although, perhaps that was in an effort to keep the Sohma family curse the secret it had always been. With this thought in mind, she relaxed her body slightly and allowed her arms to fall to her sides as she continued the conversation.

"But what a unique interpretation you've thought of," her tone was appraising, changing from her typical cool tone to one that displayed more warmth and interest. She nodded, her expression thoughtful as she considered the dark haired male in front of her and the courtesy he had just extended. "I'd like that," Yoshino answered truthfully, surprising herself at her blatant honesty. Maybe she really did like that drawing more than she'd feared Kenji knowing the secret.. Hm.

The pink haired Sohma eyed Kenji for a moment before releasing a soft sigh, "It's almost noon and I was thinking of going home for lunch... would you care to join me?" Her question startled herself but this was easily hidden with a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders and the barely noticeable increase in her smile. "I live on a shrine not far from here and I know my cousin," she tried not to stress the word, "was hoping for us to bring friends to share a meal."

Yoshino's eyes widened slightly as she realized he might have other plans or, perhaps, wouldn't want to dine with a Sohma. hurriedly, she continued, "I mean, you don't have to but I know Taiga would be happy to see me bring a friend home, for once." Clearly, extending invitations wasn't something she did often.

When Yoshino said yes to taking his art, Kenji smiled. Someone else appreciated his work and almost understood him. He tugged at his shirt and let out a small chuckle, this girl, a Sohma had actually spoken to him the class clown. Most people would not bother, or have chucked away his notepad, but she came all this way to hand it back.

"It's almost noon and I was thinking of going home for lunch... would you care to join me?"

He let out a huge breath and fell back on himself a little. She had invited him to lunch, when he would usually just eat alone. He pondered saying no, he did not want to intrude on her since she had gone out of her own way to return his notepad. Kenji also thought about the fact that other Sohma's would be there, that large house near his home always creeped him out, especially the dark haired female he often saw staring from the window. Something was telling him not get involved with such a secret family.

' I would love to come!' He blurted out before he could stop himself... his cheeks began to flush red.
He had actually planned to say no, but something made him say yes. It may have been her awkward way of asking him, or her deep red eyes... he just couldn't tell.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

This boy truly is one of a kind, she thought as her lips pulled away to reveal perfectly straight white teeth, her smile lovely and clearly genuine as she observed the blush that rose in the male's tanned cheeks. Of course, she ignored this in an attempt to avoid further embarrassing Kenji as she gave a nod of her head. "Shall we then?"

Yoshino, with a slight wave of her pale hand, motioned for the male to come with her as she stepped away from him. She fully expected him to back out, to say he had changed his mind.. or even just run away. After all, not many became involved with the large, strange family that often kept to themselves.

"We live at a shrine," she stated carefully, fully aware she could either be talking to Kenji or not to anyone at all but thin air. Regardless of how crazy she would have appeared, the pink haired girl continued to speak in an effort to not scare the young man off. Although, her talkativeness most likely betrayed her own anxiety which was still at a relatively low level within her. "Taiga is practically my guardian," Yoshino added softly, her tone rather cheerful as her shoes met the sidewalk and she continued walking. "He cooks for us and looks after the shrine, keeping it tidy and organized.."

The female trailed off, quite aware of how out of hand her babbling was becoming, before she turned her head to look at the raven-haired jokester. They'd be reaching her house in a few moments and she was trying to give him another chance to turn away, though felt a slight pang at the thought that he might take her up on it. He seemed to be the closest thing she had to an actual friend.

"Here we are," Yoshino stated cheerfully as she stopped and motioned with her hands to the large buildings that made up the shrine; the gates they had yet to pass through, the open building with an alter in clear view, the several storerooms and the actual residence. "Welcome to the Sohma estate," she added as she stepped between the two posts and the open metal gates, "Let's find Taiga and get something to eat!"

"Shall we then?"

Kenji was stunned, he had just decided to go to girls house for tea to meet her guardian...
He just knew that everyone would start talking at school about how he was always by himself and now he was hanging around with the Sohma's. Strangely this did not even bother him, Yoshino had a kind heart and a caring personality... plus she was uniquely beautiful.

He began to follow her ' you live at a shrine huh?, I'm rather jealous I live in a crappy apartment.' he responded.
Though Kenji looked like a fool, he had noticed that Yoshino had began to talk to him more, which he rather liked... someone was finally making an effort.

Once the pink haired girl began to mention Taiga, Kenji began to feel uneasy ' Are you sure your guardian will be ok with me coming over, I don't want to intrude on you' he then let out an awkward giggle. However by this point the shrine was only a few seconds away and he was being welcomed to the estate, Kenji realized there was no going back at this point. He wouldn't dream of leaving now because he knew what an ache someone leaving could cause on your heart.

Taiga paused, evaluating the appearance of the food arranged neatly on the table in front of him. He'd finished cleaning the house with plenty of time to spare, so he'd had plenty of time to cook. Various kinds of onigiri (rice balls) wrapped with a piece of seaweed were on a plate the middle of the table alongside some sliced apples. Some tamagoyaki (a slightly-sweet layered omelet) served as the other main dish.

Satisfied with what he saw, Taiga unhurriedly untied his apron and arranged the seating cushions around the table. Heading out and around to the ablution pavilion, he smiled and waved when he saw Yoshino and a boy, who he guessed was a friend from school, pass through the Torii gate.

"You're just in time, Yoshi-chan! Lunch is on the table!" he was obviously in an extremely good mood, as usual. Not much could get the dog zodiac down after he'd spent the morning cleaning and cooking; two of his favorite things to do since he'd come to be in charge of the shrine. It was definitely a relaxing atmosphere, so it was no wonder he enjoyed it so.

Mind wandering momentarily, he realized he'd forgotten something at the main house when he'd left from the meeting. "I'll be right back, Yoshi-chan! I forgot something earlier. Help yourselves to whatever you like!" he smiled as he hurried past them, only pausing momentarily to give the young tiger zodiac a glance that clearly said be careful.

Hurrying over to the main house, he almost walked into a girl that was peering through the gaps in the gate. "Ah. Sorry! I didn't see you there!"

Yoshino Mei Sohma

"You live at a shrine, huh? I'm rather jealous, I live in a crappy apartment." Kenji replied as he had followed the girl, leaving her rather cheerful to know that he was willing to converse with her. Though she knew, even without looking at the male, that he had grown nervous upon hearing of Yoshino's guardian. He happened to mention it a few moments later.

"Taiga won't mind at all," she assured him with a smile, nodding her head encouragingly as they passed through the Torii gate.

"You're just in time, Yoshi-chan! Lunch is on the table!" The slightly-older male in question called to her, a grin on his face as he caught sight of the pair coming closer to the house. Yoshino turned her head to wink at Kenji, momentarily hiding one of her ruby coloured orb-like eyes as if to say 'told you'. The cheerful Dog of the zodiac told them to help themselves to lunch as he passed, shooting her a look that only she would decipher.

A look that the Sohma family members often gave each other if there was a normal human nearby. The one that told the individual to be cautious of what they said and did.

Yoshino pretended she hadn't seen it as she was sure there would be no issues and smiled in return to Taiga, "Hurry back or we might eat it all!" She laughed at her own joke, trying to get Kenji to relax as she continued on into the house.

Slipping her small feet out of her shoes, the pink haired female stretched her arms as she moved down the hall and into the dining area. Her eyes widened in surprise at the sight of the amount of food that sat on the table.

"Taiga has really outdone himself this time," she muttered, ducking her head as a low giggle escaped her lips. She turned her head to look at her schoolmate as he followed her in, waiting to see his own expression. Oddly enough, she was curious as to how he'd react. Especially after the ups and downs of anxiety the poor boy had been having since she'd invited him over.

Kenji followed Yoshino like a duckling followed it's mother. He scuttled along behind her only briefly popping his head up from time to time. The older male who Yoshino referred to as 'Taiga' walked past him... he didn't seem to care that Kenji was accompanying Yoshino.

The older man seemed just as carefree as Yoshino, this relaxed Kenji. Being within the shrine made him miss his Gradmother Nelly, she was such a sweet old lady and she adored her only grandson Kenji. Often when he went back to Cornwall she would an array of English sweets for him, and a roast chicken dinner which was one of his favorite English dishes.

There he was again daydreaming and Yoshino had already walked ahead. Kemji sped up to catch up with her, almost bumping into her as he did so but he swung to the left hitting a wall.
' Sorry about that' he said rubbing his head.... it was at that point he noticed the food.

"Taiga has really outdone himself this time,"
Kenji nodded in agreement, and stared blankly at the table. His unlce could not cook at all and Kenji couldn't either. It was strange that in the morning he had woken to burnt toast and now he was feasting with the Sohma's.
Once Kenji had gotten over his awe he noticed a little giggle from Yoshino which made him blush.

' You have a sweet laugh' he said without thinking, quickly changing the subject ' imagine the dumbest boy in school dining with the smartest girl... Thank-you Yoshino...Chan?..'. Kenji was not sure he was entitled to say her name in such a way, so he waited for her to scold him.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

Yoshino found herself unable to hide the giggle that escaped her when the male nearly walked into her and, quickly avoiding her small frame, ended up running into the wall. "Sorry about that," Kenji said as he brought up a hand to rub his head and she gave a nod, smiling kindly. "It's fine, are you okay? Did you hurt your shoulder?" It was in her personality to fuss if there was a probability of someone being hurt, though she hid the worry well. The smile that hadn't yet left her lips now widened as she watched the expression on Kenji's tanned face.

He appeared to be rather shocked at the sight but at the same time he sort of looked like he was zoning out, she could tell.

"You have a sweet laugh," he said lightly, his eyes showing his surprise at his own words. The girl's red orbs grew large and a light pink tint blossomed on her cheeks as she stared at Kenji. She was saved from responding as he hastily added, "Imagine, the dumbest boy in school dining with the smartest girl... Thank you Yoshino..Chan?"

His tone relayed his uncertainty of what he was to call her by; were they on a first name basis and what honourific should he use? The pink haired girl could practically see Kenji ask himself these questions and almost resign himself to what a regular girl would have done.

Freak out.. or something else along those lines..

But Yoshino was no ordinary girl and felt rather pleased that he felt 'chan' was an acceptable honourific to address her by. Thus she made her decision to say what she did.

"It's fine if you call me 'Yoshi' too, if you'd like?" Her eyes twinkled cheerfully as she finally moved from her awkward standing position and across the room to her regular seat. She sat on the cushion comfortably, kneeling with her bum on her feet for now. "Taiga calls me 'Yoshi-chan'," she mused aloud, outwardly appearing to think nothing of it. "But.." Her eyes grew serious as she regarded him, curiousity written deep within the tilt of her head and set of her jaw.

"What shall I call you, Hima-san?"

She seemed genuinely interested in what he would consider acceptable.

Yoshi-Chan

He replayed it in his head over and over. What would people say if he began calling her that in school, not that it really mattered to kenji but this girl had always been quite solitary. In fact all of the Sohma's tended to stick together, they were not exactly the friendliest often avoiding contact from anyone else. Yet somehow Kenji was not privileged enough to be calling one in endearment.

He liked it.

" Well, Yoshi-chan..... in England they don't use the Honorific, I have never really been one to care what I was called.. my Grandmother calls me Kento though...." He noticed he was rambling "Well anyway the point being you can call me whatever you like and I would be happy".

He could not understand why he had shared his Grannies nickname with Yoshino, he flight slightly dumb by mentioning it... plus he hadn't even explained why she used it. Rather than trying to explain himself he sat next to Yoshino ready to eat.

Yoshino Mei Sohma

No honourific? How odd..

Yoshino's ruby red eyes shone with curiousity and confusion as she looked at Kenji, shaking her head as she tried to work her head around that. Westerners seemed so different from how people behaved and lived in Japan. Even Chin, she knew, was similar in the sense of showing honour and manners. Perhaps the English showed their manners in different ways?

Either way, she was interested to find how unique their backgrounds were.

" 'Kento'?" She tilted her head and considered this, causing her hair to fall over her left shoulder despite the elastics holding the lovely white-pink locks back. "Or 'Kenji'..?" Hesitantly and slightly uncomfortable with the lack of honourifics, Yoshi added, " 'Kun'?"

She smiled cheerfully as she reached ahead of herself, using the chopsticks she'd grabbed a few moments ago to take certain foods she really liked.

"May I call you 'Kenji-kun' then?" Yoshino asked quietly before placing a bite of tamagoyaki in her mouth and chewing slowly.
