Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
“Just lean with the sled as I turn us…and if need be grab the breaks back there. I have some up here as well but we might need them both if we find ourselves in trouble."
"Alright. Sounds easy enough."
Frost carefully sat down on the sled, taking care to not jab his staff into the back of Winter's head. Or to even touch her in general. Truth be told, he was a little skittish around women. He had never really been close to them before, as hunting usually kept him off on his own in the middle of nowhere for several days at a time. Taking time to adjust himself so he was fairly certain that he wouldn't fall off, he tapped Winter on the shoulder before gripping the sides of the sled in a white-knuckled death grip. Inside, he was terrified. He'd never been on a hill this incredibly massive or steep. The bottom of the precipice couldn't even be seen because the snow allowed little to no depth perception. If this kills me, I will haunt Winter to her grave. Frost swallowed nervously while he waited for Winter to set them off.

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
(( Haha..I thought he said he had a sled in the beginning XD))
Winter looked over when he asked if there was room for two. Not only would that be rather hard but it could slow them down AND she did not really want to be that close to a man. Normally Winter would lay down on the sled for the best speed but it seemed they would have to both be sitting on it. Because Winter had never really traveled with anyone before she had not thought of this problem and now that she had… Well Winter was a tad bit annoyed that this could cause them to slow down.
It made her wonder how far this man had actually traveled. All the far travelers knew to bring a sled along with them. Oh well hopefully he was worth his weight. After letting out a small sigh Winter nodded and sat the sled down before sitting in the front.

((Oh and I am not trying to down on your character..I am just trying to show off Winters personality a bit more))

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
“How old were you when you chose that name?..five?”
Frost could hear Winter laughing behind his back. He stiffened indignantly and quickened his pace. And very nearly walked out onto thin air. Taking a look over the edge, he could see that the slope was pretty steep, and the bottom was very far away. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that Winter had taken her sled off of her back and was preparing to ride it down. He stood there awkwardly, just staring at her.
"Room for two? I don't have a sled or anything similar to it."

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
Winter listened to the male and thought about it. Well he certainly was not like most, but then again neither was Winter. But to Winter Frostbite was a bit of a silly name and she could not help but giggle.
“Frostbite?” She repeated not really thinking of this until now.
“How old were you when you chose that name?..five?” She teased before placing a hand over her mouth and starting to giggle again but this time a bit louder.
“You know I have not traveled with someone before…” Winter commented as she begun to remove her sled from her back.
“And I must say..it is a bit more enjoyable then going alone..” Winter then walked a few feet and looked down at the almost completely drop ravine they were standing over covered in snow. It was steep, and it was far, but it was also covered in very soft and thick snow. This to Winter was the funnest part of traveling.

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
((It's ok. I'm currently in California. And came from Georgia. We don't know what snow is xD))
Frost felt something inside him change when he heard her giggle. He didn't know what it was. Shoving aside the thought he continued onward. They crunched through the snow with little to say until Winter broke the silence. “It’s funny..in the lands we live in no one dares name their children anything to do with the winter or snow. And yet our names are a bit alike. To think someone would name a child off of something as cruel as out winter and even more so..How odd that I would meet someone with such a name..” He shrugged slightly and fell back, letting Winter take the lead.
"Frostbite is actually a name I have taken upon myself. But it's not much different from what my real name is. My birth-name is Hoarfrost. My father named me that for the way snow seemed to stay away from me. But I cast that name off long ago. Frostbite is who I am now."

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
((sorry not trying to be bossy! I just love to see what people/characters will do to survive hardships ))
Winter felt a ray of stupidity hit her.
“Oh.. I’m really sorry. I must have forgotten..” She commented before giving a soft ashamed giggle. The young woman caught up with him at once before she thought of something.

The sky was gray and dull but thankfully there was no snow falling. Still there were not many animals. Winter had a feeling they could be getting near avalanche country.
(( Also here are some bad thing I have thought that can happen. No meat for several months, an avalanche occurs, they walk on and maybe Winter falls into thin ice, they get attacked by wolves or a bear, and maybe lastly Winter get very, very sick. But you can choose the order for these or just the next one or think o one of you own..but let’s talk about the trouble that will come before it comes so we can..both know about it XD and the Winter getting sick thing can be the last thing.))

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
((Noted))
Frost's expression was blank. He impassively watched as Winter rose from her sled. He had already started to walk away by the time she had stowed her umbrella behind her back and gathered her things. The sun had finally risen, making the snow shine like millions of precious gems. A few grey smears that were seen through some sparse trees were the only other natural formations that he could make out. As far as he could see the snow was undisturbed. No animals anywhere. Odd. That thought made him slightly uneasy. His grip on his staff tightened.
“You know..you never told me your name..”
"Not true. I told you outside the bar, but I'll say it again. Call me Frost. Or Frostbite if you really want. Now let's get moving."

(( Just for furture I live in Alaska and trust me..no one will live jut sitting up against snow..so next time mind maybe havng your character make a bit moe of an effort to live? XD))
Winter’s blue eyes slid open and she could not help but give a small grumble. Yes she had done this many times but she stilled like waking up in a bed instead of in the snow. The young woman slowly sat up setting down her umbrella and letting the snow slide off of it. Another day. Yawning again Winter stood to her full height and begun to pull her umbrella closed and pin it behind her back…
“Okay..First lets walk a few miles then we need to hu-“ Winter then stopped mid word and took her nose as she sneezed. After sniffing she finished her distance.
“Hunt for some meat..Vegetables won’t give us all we need..” After sniffing a bit more and rubbing an eye Winter then turned to Frost.
“You know..you never told me your name..”

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
Frost was appreciative that she pitched in to clear the snow for their improvised shelter. It was deep enough so that he'd be able to sit without feeling the sting of the icy winds all night. But only just. He cleared a spot for himself so he wouldn't get too much snow melting onto his clothing before sitting down with a soft crunch. Bringing his knees to his chest, he laid the staff in the crook his body made between his legs and his abdomen. When Winter gave her short explanation, he replied with a simple, "Ah."
As she prepared her improvised bed, he simply leaned against the snow wall until he found a comfortable position. Some loose snow fell on his head, but he ignored it. He watched until her chest, or rather her shirt, began to move with the slow, steady rhythm of breathing. Once he was certain that she was sleeping, he slowly began to drift off to sleep. One stray thought entered his drowsy mind before unconsciousness claimed him. Keep her safe Frost. Keep her safe.
---HOURS LATER---
Frost's eyes opened to the soft pink glow of the early morning sky. He took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the sight before getting to his feet. His muscles felt sore and tense from the long hours of walking they accomplished the night before. After a quick stretch, he moved the short distance to Winter's sleeping space. He moved the umbrella up from her face slightly with his staff. She was still asleep. For a moment, he was just staring at her. When his brain finally caught up with itself, Frost shook his head vigorously and poked Winter in the shoulder with his staff.
"C'mon. Daylight's burning, and we've got more ground to cover today. Let's get a move on."

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
Winter could not help but give a soft giggle.
“Our stories are a bit alike..and here I thought I was someone special..” She commented as she helped move some of the snow.
"I don't have a bitch tim of the month all girls have..though some think I have it al year.." She inforemd Frost letting him know she did not have extra blood..so to speak. The fact was the snow was so deep they would not get to the ground. However if they made a ditch large enough it would help keep in some heat as well as keep out some wind. Winter of course helped Frost dig a ditch large enough for their two sleds as well as keep a lot of wind out.
After it seemed good enough Winter pulled in her sled and took the umbrella off her back. She had never before had to share a snow ditch with someone so this almost felt a bit odd. Winter was just so used to being alone having another person with her felt..odd. After pulling out her umbrella maid out of strip of leather as slightly glazed with a then metal Winter laid on her sled and pulled her long cape around to cover her body. She then placed her umbrella over the upper part of her body so it covered it from the lightly falling snow before placing her hat over her face and turning away from Frost.
“If you wake up first..feel free to wake me up so we don’t lose any ‘daylight’.

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
(It's fine, gotta remain incognito and what not)
Frost listened with a detached mindset. Her early life story was not uncommon in this time. He had heard it several times before, but he didn't really pay much more attention to it. However, her physical 'disability' piqued his interest. "So how exactly did you find out that you are unable to bear children? I have never heard of such a thing before." Another gust of wind blew past, making him shiver. The night had fully enveloped the land in a shroud of darkness. He continued to listen with renewed interest as she recounted her return to her town. Behind his goggles and head-wrap, he arched his eyebrows.
"Well at least you avoided getting slaughtered like the other people in your town. And you've made your name of yourself because of it." He shrugged."A positive bit in everything, I suppose. Anyway, we should probably start a shelter of some kind, the night isn't going to get any colder. And we can't help the people at our destination if we freeze out here."
He stopped and began to clear some snow away with the end of his staff when he remembered what he had promised before she told him about her life.
"Where to begin. There's not much to tell. I am the son of my villages best hunter. My mother died in childbirth as well, so I never really met her. When I was about seven, a large group of bandits blew in and basically took control of the town by force. We were treated worse than dogs. Most of whatever we made, hunted, or grew was given to the bandits so they wouldn't kill us, or hopefully wouldn't kill us. It didn't always work. After a few years, my father decided that enough was enough. He tried to organize an uprising with our fellow townspeople. It never panned out. They were all executed, publicly. I had to watch as the bandits fat leader stabbed my father in the stomach and left him to bleed. I ran away that night, but not before burning the entire village to the ground. And that fat pig leader. I eviscerated him." Frost's grip on his staff tightened at the memory. "And ever since then I have been roaming. I've never stayed in one area for more than a month."

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
Winter at this point felt very tired and rather warn. Pulling out her water pouch she opened I and pulled it o her lips only to find the hard drink that she bought was no more. Turning her gaze to the man behind her Winter thought about his question. Well It would help take her mind off how tired she was.
“I don’t mind..” She informed him turning her attention back forward.
“I am from The village in the West mountains.. Both my parents were farmers. When I was born however it caused my mother to become ill and she died. Because of this my father named me Winter which for us means trouble.” With that the young woman turned her head back to the man only slightly.
“I don’t normally tell people that because they tend to pity and be-little me. But I feel you would to no such thing…” Turning her attention forward once again Winter continued as she begun to un latch her sled from her back.
“My father was not cruel but he did not take care of me..I learned to take care of myself..at eight I hunted my own food and because I hated to be bound I begun to walk out of the village further and further. This was only a hobby…I mostly farmed for Palstics ((underground vegetables)). I wanted to have a family, get married just like any woman my age..however at 16 I found I could not have children. But then I wondered why did I live? I ran away, I left my village and did not know if I would live or die or if I even wanted to live or die. I was attacked by many animals and because of this I learned how to live alone in the snow as well as fight. I went back at 17 after being gone a year…Evil men had taken over our village..the girl who left would not know what to do..but at this time I had changed and found I could do as I pleased..and I won’t have people fighting for me..It was my job to fight f others..I killed every man. And from then I was no longer known as Winter Trouble but instead Winter Mighty..” Lightly shaking her head Winter giggled lightly and let her sled slide down onto the snow as she begun to pull it along.
“From then I have been getting letters and calls for help and I have come to each one..I have almost died many times but it is my choice if I die or not..and I have always chosen to die not die..” Letting out a deep sigh Winter then turned to frost.
“But frankly I think I am over my head this time and I almost feel foolish for agreeing to do this at all..”
((sorry for all the spelling mistakes..I am aking a taking class and now I don't know whereall the keys are..))

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
"I am Winter..you most likely will grow to hate my name..for me..it is more reminding me of my element..."
Frost snorted dismissively. "I won't hate you unless you give me a reason to. And you'll know when that happens. It might even be the last thing you'll know." He followed her into the white landscape. It was not long before the town they departed from disappeared behind a snow-covered hilltop. Frost had to admit, the nights weren't so bad now that he had a companion. Even if they didn't really talk much, but the fact that there was someone else with him just seemed... comforting. The night went on in relative silence. The winds, it seemed, did not rest. The cold air was almost constantly blowing in their faces, worming its way between any gaps of clothing it could find and chilling them to the bones. Frost decided to speak up.
"So. I know almost nothing about you. If it should stay that way, fine. But if you're open to it, I'd like to ask you about your past. If you decide to tell me, I'll return the favor. If not, I'll say nothing. Either way, the choice is up to you."

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
The young woman turned her attention as another man attacked her new help. But it seemed he could take care of himself. Good it would be sad if she would have to ditch him in the next town. Pulling her scarf tighter around her neck the young woman looked up at the stars to know where she was. Winter was actually rather tired.
She wanted to lay down and sleep in a warm inn actually. But they still had ground to cover. So letting out a soft sigh Winter begun to walk as she fastened the sled onto her back which also held many of her supply’s,
“It will take nearly two months..we have our work cut out for us..” Then starting to talk she added.
“Also..I am Winter..you most likely will grow to hate my name..for me..it is more reminding me of my element…” Thankfully Winter was very good at surviving the snow, as well as hunting and knowing what to avoid. Her name actually meant trouble when her parents gave it to her but soon she changed it around to mean power. And Winter was proud of that.

"Sunny Valley, huh?" Frost scratched some rough stubble that had grown during his hunt. "That's one far off place, lady. Ordinarily I'd as how someone managed to get word to you all the way out here, but I'm not going to question an employer or partner. And since none of these children," he waved vaguely at the rest of the patrons in the pub," are not wanting to protect a girl like you, then I'm going to have to fulfill the task."
"And you must know... Supposedly these men all have Black Eyes."
“Black eyes? Are you daft woman!? No person, Man, child OR woman has survived the attack of black eyed men!” The third person was a far-from-sober man who spoke loudly with bloodshot eyes. Even as he stood, he swayed a little. Typical Drunk. What an idiot, thought Frost.
“Then how do you suppose the word about them gets out?”, the other woman replied simply before grabbing her hat and exiting the door.
The drunken man clenched his jaw in embarrassment, his cheeks growing redder than they already were. He sat back down and returned to his drink, shoulders hunched.
Frost turned back to the door, pulling his hood over his head again. Without turning around, he waved to the rest of the men in the bar. "Goodnight ladies."
Behind him, he could hear some angry muttering and mumbling from the other men. One nearby noise caught his attention. It was the whispering sound of a blade being drawn from a scabbard. A grunt and the whistling sound of a thrown blade followed the other noise. In a flash of movement, Frost grabbed his staff from its place near the door, spun, and deflected the blade. It arced away into a nearby wall and stuck there, quivering. Silence rapidly filled the room. The man who threw the dagger only stood there, gaping. Frost fixed him with a cold glare.
"Don't do it again. Or the next one won't be hitting a wall.", he said coldly. He closed the door behind him, cutting off the warmth and noise of the bar from the outside world. His eyes instinctively squinted at the glare of the snow. He hurriedly pulled his goggles over his face so he could see again. He stood in the cold, watching the woman whom he had accepted this task from.
"So. Whenever you're ready, lead on. And just for the time being, the name's Frostbite. Call me Frost if you want. Let's get going, we may be able to cover a few miles before the night really gets cold." Frost began to walk in the general direction of Sunny Valley, using his staff as a walking stick yet again.

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
Winter stopped when she heard a man speak. Turning to him she listened to his comment on not going to help but only to fight. That was fine she did not are the reason she just needed help. Once he asked about this job she turned fully to him so he would completely understand…
“It is in Sunny Valley…” She informed him informing the man on how far it was before she added.
“And you must know…Suposevly these men all have Black eyes..” Suddenly a man stood from a table just behind them.
“Black eyes? Are you daft woman! No person, Man, child OR woman has survived the attack of black eyed men!” Winter gave the man a light glare.
“Then how do you suppose the word about them get’s out?” She asked before pulling her hat over her head once again and grabbing her sled by the door. Turning her attention back over to the first man Winter asked.
“Are you still willing to come?...It is very far..and getting there we will not be able to rest..”

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
The harsh winds whipped Frostbite's cloak around him. For the hundredth time he regretted buying a sled at the last town he was in. The snow crunched beneath his feet and staff as he crested a hill, one that he'd hope to spot some sort of civilization from. His pack was not as heavy as he liked, but he was able to hunt enough meat for the next few days. At least, he hoped it would be enough. Another blast of cold air hit him, worming its way though the fibers of his cloak. [i]It's getting colder. This town had better have an inn, or else he'd have to sleep in the snow, again. And he would rather not do that if he could help it.
Cresting the hill as the sun began to descend below the horizon, Frostbite heaved a colossal sigh of relief. The lights of a town were just beginning to glow in some of the windows. If he had to make a rough guess, he would reach the town just before nightfall. Taking a quick break to drink, Frostbite resumed his trek. It was a few more hours before he finally entered the village. It felt good to not have to walk through large drifts and instead walk on shoveled dirt pathways between the houses. He could use something to warm him up, preferably one with some food too. He didn't have much, but he should have enough for a simple meal.
The pub was loud, noisy, and filled with the smells of smoke and alcohol. At all the tables, there were clusters of men talking over many tables and many, many beers. He propped his staff next to the door before removing his hood and goggles. He scratched the stubble on his chin for a moment before wandering towards the bar. A young woman was talking with the bartender. She caught his attention for a moment, but he walked to bar anyway.
"Barkeep. A strong drink, if you please. and some bread as well." He placed enough coins to pay for the drink and bread.
"Of course. Coming right up."
The bartender returned in a few moments with a flagon of ale and half a loaf of bread. "Here you go, sir."
Frostbite thanked the man and began to eat his food. The young woman down the bar openly addressed the patrons of the pub.
"Who among you wish to show off your skills as well as help many in need?"
Nobody answered her request. Frostbite slowly finished his remaining food and drink. He carefully considered what could happen. He hadn't fought any people in a very long time. He wondered if he could still fight as well as he used to. The woman turned to leave when he cleared his throat and followed her to the door.
"You said that you need help. I don't really care about saving others, but I do want to have a chance to fight some decent opponents. So if you need a partner, I'll help. Just tell me what I need to do."

Re: [OOC] Glacial Odeyssey
It was simply freezing. Even for Winter this was a bit much as the regret of setting out alone really begun to take hold. Yes she had gone the furthers than any human in her village and any man for the past 60 years however she had not known even the air hurt her lungs. Why had this happened? Well when she got the letter asking for help Winter simply did not even think about it. She packed up her sled and left the very next day. But now after the third day of travel she was tired and really begun to understand she could not do this alone.
The young woman slowed her pace as the glow of a village became a bit brighter. Perhaps asking for help would be wise. That and she needed some food and maybe some scotch. Walking into the village Winter finally found a pub. This is where all the so called ‘B.A’ people came. Lifting her sled under her arm Winter opened the door into the nice heated stone room. It was loud and smelt like sweat and drunk morons. But Winter could hardly be picky. Sliding her hat off her head Winter shut the door behind her and walked into the bar and up to the counter. The rather old a scruffy man looked up at the girl before grabbing a glass.
“Juice hun?”
“No thank you..” She muttered softly pulling some hair out of her face.
“I need something strong..something to keep me awake for several hours then help me sleep for several hours..” The man chuckles as he begun to go through his bottles.
“A long way to go?”
“260 miles..” Winter muttered softly hating her own words as she pulled out a water pouch off her hip ad handing it to the man.
“Mind filling this instead please?” The man chuckled again.
“That’s far for such a young girl..do you suppose that is very safe?” He asked starting to fill the pouch with a dark purple drink. Winter lightly shook her head.
“No..It’s not. But..I promised some people I would help with a little problem they have..”
"Don't girls like you jut want to get married and start a famil?" Winter was thinking of other things so could hardly answer.
"Girls like me?..I can't say there are girl lik me..that and I can't hav children.." It was then when she thought of something. Turning her head over to the men on their stools she stood and turned tawards them.
"Who among you wish to show off your skills as well as help many in need?" But Winter was ignored. A few turned their ees over o her but oninued to talk with eachother as if nothin was said. Letting out a deep sigh Winter turned o the counter and handed the man his money before pulling the water pouch over her hip once again.
"Thank you.." She said to the man who lightly nodded...
"yes..well um goo luck.."
