Yaviel was now on her way to receive mission description from Tsubaki Amamiya - a member of Fenrir's Far East Branch who has come to "Revolution" to help out new God Eaters. For now Yavi and her squad was main attack force of "Revolution" since other God Eater squads consisted mostly of young God Eaters who had no experience in combat whatsoever. If they were to send these newbies to battle, then most likely they would die without even getting a chance to attack the Aragami. Because of that, Yavi and her squad is going on missions daily to provide colony with needed materials for survival. There is also another problem for the leader of first squad. Two problems actually. Two new members - Artyom Becker and Alex Yamamoto have joined her squad recently. Usually members like them would be very welcomed since they both have a lot of experience combat wise, but each of them have a serious problem. Artyom cannot go into Burst Mode and Alex has tendency to disobey his superiors. Yaviel knows that those of those can prove to be quite a problem especially against a stronger opponent. Hopefully Yaviel won't have to resort to THAT power.

"Yaviel Funaki, Captain of 1st Squad reporting for duty," Yavi announced herself to Tsubaki. Although two women instantly became friends, they still keep being official when it comes to missions and duty. There's no need to mix job with private matters after all.

"Good. Here's your mission for today. Destroy all Kongou and Sariel you can find in Paris Outskirts. Save all civilians in need and bring back listed materials. Is that clear?" Tsubaki explained as Yaviel scanned through the mission papers just to make sure, she hasn't missed anything.

"Yes, ma'am!" Yaviel replied with strong stance. Then Tsubaki placed her hand on Yaviel's shoulder gesturing that she was worried about her. "Please be very careful. A powerful Aragami has been sighted in the area. Don't fight it! I'm saying this to you both as a friend and as superior officer. You MUST NOT fight it no matter what happens. Just get out if you spot it!"

"You worry too much, Tsubaki," Yaviel smiled and gripped Tsubaki's hand to reassure her. "I won't die and neither will my subordinates. I promise to return in one piece."

"Good, I will hold you to that promise. For now you should check on your new members. They should be fully recovered by now, but you can never know. If they are not feeling well, I can send someone else with you," Tsubaki explained her serious tone slowly returning to voice.

"I'm sure that won't be necessary!" Yaviel said and started to go towards Becker's room first. Somehow this man intimidated Yavi. The first time she met him, she felt small, vulnerable and weak. Yes, that kind of powerful aura and experienced stance radiated this man. However Yaviel will never show that to him or anyone else. She's the leader, meaning that she has to be stronger than anyone.

"Becker, I need to talk to you!" Yaviel exclaimed after knocking on his door. If everything goes well, then soon she and her other two team members should be in Paris Outskirts slaying Kongous and Sariels.

If there was one thing Artyom missed from the European Fenrir Branch, it was definitely his old room. The slightly superior artificial food he could live without and he had already come to terms with the fact that he wouldn’t see any familiar faces in a while, but over the course of the years, he had managed to get comfortable in that old white and brown chamber with more furniture than he needed and that expensive looking – but most likely fake – painting of a beautiful landscape before the time of the Aragami giving color and personality to the room. And that was without even mentioning his collection of old utensils from pre-Aragami societies. “Revolution”’s headquarters were… less resourceful. His new room consisted on a 4m cube with gray, metallic plates on the walls and ceiling, a military bed somewhat disguised by white sheets and a retractable table he normally used to rest a miniature computer he used to access the NORN database or communicate with other people within the structure. Was it functional? Yes; in fact, Artyom was pretty sure that the walls were so strong that if an Ogretail managed to sneak in the premises, the coldness and desolation of the room would kill him before the Aragami even got to him. He hadn’t asked many questions, and given the brief time he had been in the rebel group he suspected he wouldn’t receive any answers even if he did, but he suspected it was a remodeled military base before the founding of Fenrir, and the outdated infrastructure seemed to support his theory. ’Beggars can’t be choosers’, he chanted to himself every time he entered the room, but that didn’t make the space seem any bigger or comfortable. Nonetheless, there was little point in complaining and he was tired of seeing himself as the victim, so he was slowly coming to terms with it. Besides, he didn’t mind the limited space that much on that particular day.

He was lying on his bed with his eyes closed and as still as he could, trying to concentrate solely on his thoughts. Fenrir doctors had told him that it was a good idea for God Eaters in general to practice meditation and self-examination in order to cope with the stress of their responsibilities and had recommended many books that explained how to effectively practice it. There were people who were able to read those pages and, without any help or additional guidance, put the instructions into practice. Artyom obviously wasn’t one of them. He had never believed in the enlightening powers of meditation, but lately he had decided to give it a try; it wasn’t going well though. In his least inspired days, he couldn’t even manage to stay still, let alone concentrate enough to muster a useful thought. In his most inspired days, he just fell asleep. And that day, you could say that boredom was being his muse.

As drowsiness began to take over him and his consciousness started to fade…

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

A very close sound brought Artyom back to reality, leaving him wide eyed and stunned for a short while as he tried to remember where he was and what he had been doing. When he heard the voice of Funaki Yaviel commanding him to open the door, he managed to get a general idea of what the situation was. He sighed in relief as he processed the order in his head and stood up, straightening his shirt and looking for his jacket.

‘Good. I was tired of doing nothing anyways’, he thought to himself.

He had found that the best way to combat stress was to actually do productive things, and that usually meant doing work related to research and/or exterminating Aragami alongside his new comrades in Squad A; that is to say, Captain Funaki and Alex Yamato. Not like he had much contact or field experience with them, and there wasn’t much information about them anyways. All he knew about Yaviel was that she was, as Cain Xavier had put it, an extremely rare God Eater, but when he tried to inquire about it, all the Director said was ‘if you stick around for long enough you might just see for yourself’ all the while without even making eye contact, as if to say he had nothing more he wanted to share with him. Artyom had heard that despite her good attitude and charisma, she had the tendency to put herself in danger for others, which meant she probably wasn’t very aware of her value and that was bound to bring problems later. Artyom had his own reasons to trust her though. As for Alex, his background was not nearly as mysterious, perhaps because he was also a newcomer and his information wasn’t classified, but after hearing a few things about the incidents prior to his arrival to “Revolution”, he had determined he probably didn’t want to know that much. Artyom hadn’t even engaged in conversation with him, and in all honesty he was somewhat curious to see how he was holding up, and even worried if he could perform effectively after such an experience. Then again, he wasn’t one to talk.

But those were things he had to see for himself, not think about.

“Yes, ma’am”, Artyom greeted Yaviel once he opened the door and straightened his stance in respect. “How may I help you?”

Soon enough Artyom opened the door and took official stance, as a soldier should when greeted by superior: "Yes, ma'am! How may I help you?"

"Good, at least I know I won't have any discipline issues with you," Yaviel said to herself in her mind and with serious tone continued. "We have been assigned a mission to kill all Kongou's and Sariel' in Paris Outskirts. Are you ready for this job?"

Artyom looked like really has had a lot of combat experience as his body was clearly muscular and could probably crush Yaviel in a second if she wouldn't resist. Luckily, Yaviel's massive armor sort of masked this difference which made her feel more at ease. Before man could reply however, girl continued: "There also is a strong Aragami near the area, so we will have be extra careful. You must take in mind that as soon as you spot some unusual activity you must warn me, because we do not have permission to fight it. Got it?"

Honestly Yaviel would have preferred to just go and put an end to all the Aragami in area so there would be no problems, however while she is leader of squad, she cannot be reckless. After all if other members get their armlet damaged during the fight, they might turn into Aragami and being injured too deeply might lead to same result. Unlike for her. She only noticed it recently but Yaviel's injuries heal almost instantly. She also can't become an Aragami, because... well, she already is one. That thought clearly pained her, because one day Yaviel might not think as human anymore, she might think as an Aragami. If that day ever comes, Yaviel will make sure to put an end to herself and as many Aragami as possible.

"Also, I know you have problem with Burst Mode. If time comes, don't hesitate to ask for my help. I'll make sure that you and all of your team mates survive!" Yaviel showed a little smile to brighten up the situation a little bit. After all, in these dark times even the smallest smile could mean salvation.
