Introduction

Gods; A New Age
Image

Background & Info:

3’000 years ago the Great War against Appollyon, the God of Destruction, was won by the combined forces of every God (good and evil) and their mortal armies. The colossal powers caused the mortal’s former home to be shattered, and the tectonic plates moved, tearing the island apart. Whole civilizations were consumed while others managed to escape to safety.

Now, a new island has been found and populated. Each former faction rebuilding their cities and laying claim to land as they explored and conquered, some broke old alliances while others upheld the Treaties of Old (Before the Great War).

Now, this is where you, the very worshipped God steps in. You will take command of your civilization, write of how you steer your faithful mortals to greater glory (or greater doom!).

The sun is rising for a new change, but can the Elder Gods find peace with the New Gods? It shall all be determined with time.

Also, to give everyone a heads-up, the GM will be:
-Almostinsane

Co-GMs:
-Lady Ethereal

Now, this RP will contain quite a lot of reading, so I’ll go ahead and give you a few links so you don’t have to get lost ;)
(Character sheets found under “Gods, Avatars, Heroes/Champions, and Regulars”)

[:NOTE:]
As this will be a highly literate RP, we will need to see your writing style. We have a Thread where you can send in your submissions and then you can await a response from the GM or one of the Co-GMs. Take a look at the Rules so you know what to write about.
We will do our best to give you tips and constructive feedback in order for you to have a second go at becoming a part of the RP.

Sefthal
The rolling hills and plains surounding Orventis:

"Indeed my friend, the market prices in Carth could be affected by the yearly migration of cattle herders. However, I have been lead to believe that the cattle herders are coming late this year. Would it not be a prime opprotunity to open relations while there is a shortage? Surely they will take foreign cattle when even the Nobles can only muster the barest scraps of meat," Icarvi said, his tone short and clipped, as it often was when he debated with his Avatar. It appeared that even while they trod through the grassy hills the God and his Chosen One spoke about serious matters.

The mood was broken, as if it was inconsequential, when Seth clapped the God on the shoulder. "Hah! That is where you are wrong! Just today I recieved word that the Herders have already been in Carth nigh on two days."

Sefthal smiled to himself. It was just like Seth to send word ahead. The God was suprised however. Just a week ago, last he had checked, the Herder migration was weeks away from Carth. Considering this for a moment, the God came to a revelation. The Herder population of the steppes near Carth had indeed always paid him homage. It was then that he remembered his blessing. Last year, a great drought had nearly devastated the cattle of the herders. So, as one, all of the Herder's had called to Sefthal for safe passage on their journey to greener pastures.

Sefthal had been pleased, and had granted them quick passage to the rolling hills south of Carth, where the rivers and springs fed the plants sufficiently. The blessing must have had a profound effect on the cattle. Under normal circumstances, cattle from that area moved at a turtle's pace. But, energized by hearty eating and whatever else they had found, the herders had managed to rouse their cattle into a rare gallop all the way to Carth.

The God's in depth (if rather boring) thoughts were shattered by a war cry from many deep throats. Looking around, the Avatar and God sighted the Orcs at the same time. There were about twenty of them. All of their number were heavily muscled, and taller than any man. They carried a crude assortment of weaponry. As they charged at the pair, the Orcs bellowed their challenge. Seth was about to rase his staff when Sefthal held him back. The God raised his hand, and snapped his fingers. In an instant, the orcs stopped, almost frozen in mid run. Even the dust at their feet went to half a snails pace.

Walking over to the mob of orcs, Icarvi examined them. Bulging muscles and sharp teeth prevailed. Scruntinizing them, Icarvi was confused. In his short spans on the ground, he had never seen an Orc face to face. As he walked amongst them, Sefthal could not help but reach out and touch their minds. Crude thoughts swirled around his, quick as any humans, even as slowed as they were. Pretty much all of them had to do will killing. The God contemplated this. It appeared that Orcs were not indeed dumb animals as most people considered them. Just singularly focused.

Suddenly, Sefthal stopped mid-thought. He had felt something familiar. Focusing on that feeling he metaphorically reeled in whatever it was. In his mind, a tendril appeared. Following it, he walked through what he realized was the racial memory of the orcs. He saw only war for the majority of that, glued together with massive expansion and catastrophic declines. Then, suddenly, it came to an end. The tendril had become severed. Sefthal could faintly detect the other orcs, in their masses. But something was missing. By chance, he came upon a shard of a memory, only a few seconds. It was mostly emotions, that of the pain and indignation of... a God? Sefthal held onto the memory, even as he withdrew from the orc's mind. He examined the other orcs, and found similar shards.

Peicing what he could together, he came up with a short memory. In it, he witnessed what he realized was the last few moments of Urgael, the God of orcs. There, he watched as the Orc God's essence was torn from his body. What became of the body was not shown, but Sefthal quessed that it had probably just phased out of existence. Withdrawing from the memory, Sefthal stowed all that he had gathered in the back of his mind, stowing it away for future use.

Returning to his earthly form, Sefthal transported himself and Seth a safe distance away before releasing the Orcs. When question by his Avatar, Sefthal only said that he had something special planned, and that Seth should bring as many Orc employees of the Trading Union to him as he could in a timely manner. The pair then returned to Orventis.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Okay tomorrow is Thursday, I will be adding the (new) new gods Rp to the roster then. It will have my little twist of a story but it will keep many of the same mechanics as this one.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Okay everyone I am here to ask if anyone who still watches this OOC thread is willing to actually help get this Rp back on track to some extent.
That or I can create another Rp with somewhat of the same feel as this one, but don't worry I have already spoken with Saxious and he is already well informed about this situation.

So whoever wants in on whatever path is take just let me know with a PM.
We will take action in four days, which for me is next Thursday.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Guys I've been busy and will continue to be busy with Marching Band, we have a concert band competition coming up and we are entering Parade Season, so our Band Director is killing us with all these practices. Not to mention all this stacked on top pf my regular chores, homework, church, and practices outside of band.

Pretty much Im working at a snails pace

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

alright thanks for the heads up Almos

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Thank you for telling us, no worries, we understad that college can dominate a large part of your life.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

I don't think I can continue this, :(. College keeps me busy and, honestly, I don't think I'll be able to keep up with a roleplay like this. I just don't have the time for long posts and studying the counterpart cultures for the Avuvians (Greece, Rome, Tolkien's Numenor and Gondor). I will still be happy to see this roleplay going and, if it is still going when I have the time, rejoin it.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Sorry for my lag, I'm writing as we speak.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Sooo, anyone want to work on something together while I wait for Oran to respond to Ersatz so Ersatz can bring me out of Limbo once again?

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Higurashi, the magma is from the earth splitting. As you know, Madelina (Alyss is the Hero not the Avatar and it was Madelina who challenged you.) used the voice to split the earth and the fire rise forward and all that.,

The Fire died down, but the earth remained split, and as we all know from our geography class beneath the first layer of the earth is magma.

Madelina is indeed weakened. As you recall, i mentioned she fainted before she could conjure a third voice spell and the fire have died down because she has ceased to put her energy into it but the earth remains split because she is still putting her strength in doing that. (I somehow forgot to add that part, Shame on me).

The Voice will be explained in my next post. Till I post it up, for those of you who play elder scrolls skyrim its alot like the Dragon Shouts.

I don't mind the bridges and what not, He is backing it up with logic and he is taking losses which I say are quite appropriate (having faith in your God= the God will attempt to protect you) and the only one's not truly being affected by the fire is the Champions whom I was hoping were not at all affected by the flames so Alyss De Mandolin could take on one and the other take on one.

EDIT
Higurashi- the Magma is also not rising, just what's waiting for those who fall in.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Eratz - thanks. I read over my post and instantly thought 'my dude got nightvision. WIN.'
And I don't think having any gravity around would be very productive... xD

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Ersatz's avatar is specifically not a fire user; she has the power of the, so far undefined, Voice. Her people are the ones breathing fire, not her.

And since she used enough power that you think she should be close to death, maybe your basic, insignificant, everyday soldiers shouldn't get to walk through her towering inferno set above a split in the earth so easily? And let us not forget that magma is already in the earth and depending on the location (which Ersatz and Oran get to define, not you) it could realistically be somewhat close to the surface.

I also didn't read anything really describing how your army fought, just how his liked biting people and thought that the Imperium was a group of "worthless cowards".

Edit: And hey, whats a massive chasm of fire and death if the infantry can just jump over it and the horsemen can conjure bridges from the ether to get on the other side? Not much apparently.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

I do feel the need for godmod on the horizon.... I mean, okay. Your avatars power is specifically to use fire. But Magma from the earth? Really? A chasm that spans for endless miles? Honestly? At the very least, your avatar would be nearly Dead by such and effort. Likewise, Your flamars are tearing into my men like so much meat. If you think there is any sense on honor my men uphold, you misunderstand. Their honor is only to serve their God, and by extension their commanders. They would not be honorbound to neglect from using dirty methods. Infact, the press of bodies would mean they would be using the dead as sheilds.

Otherwise, i expect you mean to simply kill off my heroes. I'm sorry for bitching, but this is just how it looks to me.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Hmmm, seems like Murali needs to keep an eye on Hallick...something about changing the Laws of Gravity doesn't really fly to well with me.... XD

jokerofspades-- And Night vision? Priceless.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Lifecharacter wrote:Law is simply what order pertains to and what criminality rejects; it never stops existing and has no true opposite. That said Vára mainly focuses on laws that one can't really break (gravity, thermodynamics, momentum, etc.) and leaves those one can break, ie the ones made by other gods and mortals, to their respective people. Whatever the planet's name is is one little rock floating through a vast existence that she'd prefer not to give too much attention to.

She'd even leave Apollyon alone if he didn't mess with her, so the only reason she's gotten involved so far is because Imperios is her son and she'd rather have to scold him than watch the others kill him, and now she has a coalition of the minor gods to put down.

Vara's laws (gravity, momentum, etc.) are exactly the types of laws that Hallick is the antithesis of; forces and ideas that are not supposed to change. In a universe where everything is created by gods, even the constant laws themselves, I think that anyone of those forces can be changed by the same forces that created them, and that is what Hallick is trying to accomplish.

Re: [OOC] Gods; A New Age.

Well, that cleared up a lot actually. Thanks.
Though I feel like I just got schooled...

EDIT: I did edit the last part of my post for my god to make it more reigned and restrained on his 'night vision' (Had to xD) and his connectivity to the other Gods.
I do deserve the scrutiny about it, since he was god modding (I'm not sure how that works for a god... like a super god mod? Sure.)
