Leon was busy packing his camera equipment into the bag, as he listened to his girlfriend beg him not to do this. He was trying to ignore her and he was already running behind. He took a deep breath as he zipped up his black Jansport backpack and slung it over one shoulder. Normally he was a patient guy, but Sarah was really getting on his last nerve normally the two year age difference was nothing, but right now he felt as if he was dating a little girl. Sarah grabbed his backpack tugging it off his shoulder.

“Sarah please.” He grabbed her rougher then he meant to. “If you don’t want to go I want make you, but this is something that I have to do, I need closer. Those tapes were the last thing my dad watched they meant something to him.” He explained looking into her brown eyes with his own blue ones. “Now are you coming or not?” he said, his voice almost seeming desperate.

Sarah softly shook her head. Leon frowned gently but didn’t say another word he placed his lips to hers softly kissing her, she barely kissed back and without another word he headed to his powder blue 65’ Mustang. Throwing his back pack in the back seat before starting the car, he pulled his black beanie on covering his dirty blonde hair as he turned looking out the back window reading himself to pull out the drive way. He smirked hearing the passenger door open he didn’t even have to look.

“Glad you decided to join me.” He said leaning over and kissing her cheek before pulling out of the drive way.

“I’m not doing this cause I want to…it’s because I love you.” She pouted a bit crossing her arms in front of her.

The car ride was silent, mostly because Sarah was giving Leon the silent treatment and he really didn’t mind, he thought it was cute. They parked his car a ways away from the hospital. He grabbed his backpack throwing it over his shoulder before going to Sarah’s side opening the door for her like a gentlemen.

“Come on babe, you can’t stay mad at me forever” he said softly leaning on his car. “You know what this means to me and I’m glad you came.” He smiled as she stepped out of the car.

“I’m only here because someone needs to keep you out of trouble.” She said in a serious tone as he draped an arm over her shoulder and they headed to the hospital.

Leon had gotten his hands on a blueprint of the hospital and he had been studying it. He knew the hospital like the back of his hand. Every exit, every entrance, and what tunnels lead to which building. The two walked for a while until they reached the back of the hospital where everyone planned to meet. Sarah smiled seeing Lena there, she was the youngest in their group of friends, but they didn’t treat her any different.

“looks like you guys are ready to go.” He smirked as he pulled Lena into a brotherly hug, he had been friends with the girl forever. “And you must be Huston’s daughter, it’s nice to finally meet you.” He offered his hand “Glad you could join us, it’s only right after everything.” He sighed gently.

After hours of prep and nearly exploding from anticipation, Dales finally caught eye of it. The ancient monolith of a darker day, and a monument to the suffering of oh so many. It was easy to pity anything that could be trapped here, and maybe what they did here today could help them move on. Then again..... if what they saw on the tape was real, then maybe pity wasn't as appropriate as respect and fear. He re-adjusted his fedora as his old 1969 Volkswagon bus, with black paint and the peace sign on the front replaced by a skull, pulled up in front of the psychiatric hospital just in time to let Dales see Lena trudging through the woods.

His hand pressed lightly against his horn, giving a cheery "meep meep" to introduce himself. As he rolled down the window, he leaned out and yelled "Hey Lena!". He pulled a bit closer before coming to a stop. "Hey, is Leon here yet?" he asked, before his attention was drawn to where she had been walking. "Uhh... you did know there was a turn-off in the road just back th-" he tried to say, but an irritated scowl upon her face shot through Dales like a spear. "Okay, okay... shutting up now" he said, holding up his hands in a submissive fashion. Opening the door, he noticed Lena was no alone. There stood another young woman of about equal age.

Dales presumed that she must be the daughter of "that Gray guy", as he stepped forward to introduce himself. "Hi" he said, offering his hand. "Would you happen to be... uhh... 'Miss Gray'?" he sheepishly asked, feeling kinda stupid for referring to her as "Miss Gray". "My names Dales, and I'm a friend of Leon. Uhh, the guy who sent you the letter. And Lena, here" he nodded her way. "I can't imagine your thrilled about being called 'Miss Gray', so could I know your name?" He was trying to stay on topic and not seem to antsy, he really was. Though the opportunity too actual conduct a real paranormal investigation was all that raced through his head.

Having completed his side of the intros, he went to the back of his little bus to check all the gear he brought. "Oh man, this is going straight on my youtube channel......." he chuckled to himself. He unloaded all his assorted euipment before hiding his bus a little ways off the road. It took some moving, but Dales got all his junk ready for the "show and tell" he was planning. After a while, everyone was where they planned to meet. Dales must have checked his watch eight times before Leon finally showed up. Dales smiles as his foot tapped the side of one among many a large case. "Dude, I brought everything I had, including that expensive as hell thermal imager. If there's something in here, whether it be rats, hobos, or ghosts, we're gonna find it. Now who wants to help me carry this heavy crap?"

Luke had taken a nap to try and rest up for tonight then set his alarm, but for some reason it didn't go off and he woke up late. He woke up in a panic when he looked at his clock and realized he had slept in half an hour. He threw on the first shirt he saw, a pair of pants, his hoodie, practically jumped into his shoes and was out the door. He drove about 80 mph. the whole way there. Once he got there he saw that almost everyone was there, but they didn't seem to have been waiting for him.

Luke got out of the car and seen Leon pull Lena into a big. As he got closer to the group he realized that everyone was there. He walked toward the group and got there just as Leon was about shake the Grey girls hand. Think of something that would hopefully make his friends laugh. Luke went up behind Leon and Sarah and put his right arm over Leon's shoulder and his left over Sarah's. And said,

"How are the lover bird doing." Then he pretended not to have noticed Leon trying to shake the grey girls hand and said in a very bad pretend voice, "Now Leon that isn't how you greet a lady." Luke went over to where the Gray girl was got one one knee, took her hand and in a very bad imitation of a British gentlemen's voice said, "My name is Luke and I would be honored if a beautiful girl like you told me her name as well." then he proceeded to kiss her hand.

Lena had been waiting for an answer from the new girl when Dales popped up in his retro bus and made a comment about her toil in the woods.
"Oh, yeah?" she huffed, a mischievous glint in her eyes and the second he drew closer, she skipped over and swiped his beloved fedora off his head, placing it on her own.
"Oh, man, nice hat Dales. Your hat hair could use a bit of work, though." She teased, squeaking in surprise as she was suddenly wrapped up in a hug by the leader of their expedition.
"Oh, thank the gods, you two made it!" Lena laughed, returning the hug and catching sight of Sarah, who looked totally out of her comfort zone. But she hadn't been at all pleased about the adventure they were going to be having and personally, Lena thought Leon should have left the girl behind. She adored the youngest member of the group but felt more protective over her than she did the others. But, if she was here, Lena may as well try to make her feel better about it.
"Hey, Sarah!" she chirped and gave her a one armed hug.
"Ready to see all that is slimy, ghostly, and grotesque?" A noise sounded in the woods behind them and Lena turned in time to see Blair appear.
"Our token redhead has arrived!" she cheered, using the nickname she'd given Blair ages ago. And that just left-
"How are the lover birds doing?" Lena jumped at the voice that had sounded pretty much right next to her. She hadn't even heard Luke step up. She snorted at the display he made for the Gray kid (So typical Luke) and grabbed the hood of his sweatshirt, pulling him back up.
"Luke, glad you could make it! Don't harass her. And /you/," she began, looking at Gray,
"Don't fall for it. He's a scoundrel." She smiled and winked before releasing the final member of their group, stretching, and fully appreciating the night and her surroundings now that she was in a better mood. She sincerely hoped their noise wouldn't attract any unwanted attention because now that they were all there, she'd be entirely ticked off if they got kicked off the grounds. She was ready to go, see whatever there was to see, and go home with stories to tell. And hopefully, Leon and the Gray kid could leave with some peace of mind.

Saffron merely grunted as a response to the first girl who showed up to the meeting place behind the hospital. She seemed nice enough, but neither of the girls obliviously wanted to be the first to say hello. Next came an attractive teenager with another girl whom she automatically assumed was his girlfriend. Oh well, it's not like she'd ever talk to these people or see them again.

However, she felt obligated to at least shake the Hartfield kid's hand. After all, both of them had lost their parents without warning. Though her father's death seemed to be more connected to the hospital than his, they at least had some common ground. As for the others, she hadn't been expecting to get along well with them if at all. Saffron was the sort of girl who kept to herself in order to avoid attention, relations that could end with a snap of the finger, and just her general awkwardness in new social situations. She knew that her mother must recall the days where she could talk to anybody, but she herself could hardly remember them. Her childhood had been completely blocked out by her father's death.

Next came another guy, who was not being trailed by a prissy looking blonde. He greeted her as 'Miss Gray', which she honestly found amusing. She had been told that chivalry was dead. "My name is Saffron," she told him, smiling a bit before he turned to examine his various equipment. Her smile returned to a slight frown as he began obsessing over his thermal image thing and said something about hobos. At least he knew that this was a stupid idea and would film it for proof. Dales then asked if anybody would help him carry the stuff around. Why not? she thought and was about to walk over to him when she was stopped by another boy. She also noticed a red headed girl who had beat her to Dales to help with the equipment.

Oh, so was everybody here a couple? How dandy! Saffron chuckled a bit, thinking that if there was a hobo in there than maybe he would get rid of one of these kids. She honestly hadn't been expecting so many people. When Leon had said his friends were coming. she'd expected maybe two. But no, here she was with five strangers about to break into an old hospital because somebody thought there were zombies or whatever in it. As much as Saffron loved horror movies, she found it hard to believe that anything more than rats and bugs lived in there.

The third boy honestly confused her as he got down on one knee and began kissing her hand in speaking in some sort of accent. After she got over the initial confusion she ripped her hand away and bopped him on the head. "My name is Saffron," she repeated for him and the red headed girl. "And I would appreciate it if you never did that again." Saffron glanced at the first blonde who had shown up, as she had gone from awkward to completely accepting and open armed in a matter of minutes. Oh how people confused her.

Leon smirked as he saw his friend with all the equipment, he pulled a pair of large bolt cutters out of his back pack before feeling his friends arm go around him and Sarah. The he watched as he went down on one knee. “And that is why you don’t have a girlfriend.” He teased “Alright, I’m going to go break in so we can start taking stuff inside, we have to be inside by 7, that’s when the guards come make sure everything’s locked up and ever since the accident security is higher.” He stated. “I’ll be back to help as soon as I get the doors open. He said taking off towards the front door, he smirked seeing the “DEATH AWAITS” spray painted in lime green. “Guess will find out.” He mumbled to himself.

Sarah smiled to Lena “Hey” she said before frowning “No not at all, I wasn’t going to come but I didn’t want Leon getting hurt.” She said not at all wanting to go through with this she glanced to her boyfriend seeing him cut the large chain off and go inside.

“Wicked.” Leon smiled as he went inside “This is bad ass.” He said whispering to himself before going back outside “Alright were in!” he yelled to the others making his way back over to them to help carry the stuff in.

"Hey, come on. Give it back! That's my lucky hat!" Dales said to Lena, retrieving his fedora from her. "And I do not have hat hair...." he continued as he slid his hand over his smooth near-black hair before donning his hat. Luke made a rightful ass of himself, taking "Saffron Gray's" hand, and received a thump to the head for it. Dales just rolled his eyes. Blair stepped forward and was willing to help with the gear, which she always did. Out of the group, she was the only one that seemed as interested in the supernatural as Dales. But he had a better idea. "Hey, Romeo" he said, facing towards Luke. "Come on, help me with this. Grab that big one over there, and be careful! I got the tripods in that."

Dales grabbed the second heaviest of the cases, which held a heavy duty battery, a back-up hard drive, and his laptop. He was willing to either carry the rest himself or Shanghai Luke into doing it, but Blair stepped in and took the rest. Leon went off to cut the chains, and Dales was sure as hell glad someone remembered bolt cutters. Cause he sure didn't. After a few moments, Leon gave the all clear. The group herded towards the front entrance, paying little heed to the warning spray painted in neon lime green. Dales couldn't help but scoff a little at that. "Yeah, that's original. Hey, guys, I got a brilliant idea. Let's not chain ourselves inside. What do you think?"

Upon stepping inside, Dales lungs were filled with aged and stagnant air, loaded with God only knows what. He really should have brought painter's masks. He marveled at the B-rated horror film they had just stepped in, in all it's gloomy glory. "Oh-ho, man.... Jinkies" he chuckled. "This place is straight out of Scooby Doo. You almost gotta wonder if this place ever looked inviting?" He set the cases on the floor, and started to unlatch them. "Hey, Leon. It's your show, dude. How you wanna do this thing? Oh, wait." Dales turned to address the rest of the group.

"I would really, really, really not recommend taunting or provoking anything that might be here. If this place is empty, then we just look stupid talking politely to ourselves. If there is and it's as bad as the tape said, then.... well, you know. I'd really rather not piss these things off. Just sayin'."

"Our token redhead has arrived!" Blair smiled and laughed a bit at the use of the nickname she was always called. Blair picked up the rest of the equipment, and followed Dales to the hospital door looking the building over. Blair went in the building after Dales, and set the rest of the equipment down, and looked around a bit, and coughed. The air in the hospital smelled musty and old. She bent down after getting a good look around, and started helping get the equipment set up. "I would really, really, really not recommend taunting or provoking anything that might be here. If this place is empty, then we just look stupid talking politely to ourselves. If there is and it's as bad as the tape said, then.... well, you know. I'd really rather not piss these things off. Just sayin'." Blair nodded. She defintely agreed with him. "Yeaah, good idea." She said getting some of the remaining equipment out.

The minute Leon got the door open and waved them all over, Lena gave Sarah a reassuring smile, linked arms with her, and led their way to the hospital, stopping abruptly when the smell hit her.
"Yikes!" she gasped, covering her nose.
"Smells like death in here... no pun intended, of course." she said with a grin and looking around the hospital, all the while keeping one ear open for Dale's chatter. At his scooby doo comment, she laughed.
"Ruh-roh, Raggy!" chills tingled along Lena's arms and she knew she was getting goosebumps but she ignored them. The place sure was spooky, though.
"I agree with you guys... I don't want to provoke anything... but I don't think ghosts mean us harm. I think they're just angry, confused, and lost. That's why I came, I want to help them cross over..." Lena trailed off as she thought and then locked eyes with Leon.
"You said most of these guys died due to a doctor performing experiments and lobotomies, right? And then some of the patients killed him, right? What if his spirit is still here? I mean, ghosts can be left behind rather than crossing over when their death is shocking to them or when they are completely unprepared for death... Murder certainly sounds like the shocking sort of death that would leave a spirit behind... and what if that's why the other ghosts are so angry? I mean, I'd be pretty pissed off if I had to spend an eternity locked in a madhouse with the ghost of the man who tortured me to death. I think we should try to find the ghost of Dr. Jekyll and, ya know, exorcise him or help him cross over or whatever... I'm not totally sure how, but I can guess we can always try waving our hands," Lena paused to demonstrate the "waving of the hands" technique and then continued by saying
"And maybe yell something like 'GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT!'.... I dunno, I haven't thought that far into it. ANYWAY, whenever we get rid of psycho therapist, maybe the other ghosties can rest in peace." she finished, her breathing slightly elevated. She sighed and rested her head on top of Sarah's. That was probably the most Lena had ever said at one time in her life.

Luke had just kissed Saffron's hand before Lena came over and pulled him to his feet and called him a scoundrel. Then before he could dodge Saffron hit him on the head, Over acting a bit he said "Owwww that hurt, and i was just joking you guys." Shortly after Dales asked him to grad the biggest suit case. Grumbling a little bit he went over and picked it up. There was another suit case that he was going to grab, but Blair beat him to it. Looking ahead he seen everyone else was already in the building and they all seemed to be smelling something really bad, so Luke prepared himself for it and went in.

Once inside he new right away how bad it really was, this was one of those times he hated his good sense of smell. As he walked he looked at the walk with all of the scary graffiti on it and ignored it. As he caught up to the group he heard Dales make a Scooby Doo reference and comment about how scary ghosts could be. Then Lena agreed with him about the ghost being scary. Great I'm with a bunch of chicken he thought. He always hated it when people get scared so in a sarcastic voice he said,

"Ok Shaggy and Velma if any ghost come after us, I promise I'll kick there ass's all the way back to the after life, so you guys don't have to be scared ok."

Saffron followed the rest of the group into the hospital, shutting the doors once everybody was in. She would prefer not to get caught trespassing. Her record was already less than perfect and the last thing she needed was her mom breathing down her neck. She sighed a bit and looked around, seeing only a chair and set of stairs that didn't look at all interesting.

Soon everybody was making comments about ghosts and what not. Saffron laughed a bit, sitting down in the old chair off to the right of the door. "You guys believe in that crap? So does that mean I shouldn't threaten them by saying I'll give them a lobotomy?" She laughed again. "I can't promise you guys anything. Honestly, I don't see why some 20th century doctor who liked destroying people's brains would wanna stick around this place. It's downright dreary here. Oh, can't you see me shivering?" she asked mockingly before standing back up.

The blonde gazed at each of them for a moment, trying to remember why she had come. Her eyes fell on Leon, and she frowned, turning to look down one of the hallways. She took a step forward and was a bit suurprised to find that her boots did not echo much. "Besides, isn't that how you're supposed to make them come out?" She shifted her weight and swiveled back to look at them. "So where are we going? You guys seem to be the experts." Without waiting for an answer she started to walk across the lobby space and over to the wide staircase.

Blair sighed and listened to the others talking.

"You guys believe in that crap? So does that mean I shouldn't threaten them by saying I'll give them a lobotomy?"

She was glad that Saffron wasn't scared, but if there really is potentially dangerous spirits in this place, then the girl definitely should not provoke it by telling it she would give it a lobotomy. Ya know...Unless she wanted to be either harmed or dead like the people might have been in the video, that is, if all of that stuff wasn't faked.

"I can't promise you guys anything. Honestly, I don't see why some 20th century doctor who liked destroying people's brains would wanna stick around this place. It's downright dreary here. Oh, can't you see me shivering?"

Blair couldn't see why a doctor like that would want to stay in a place like this, but she guessed that if the doctor really liked destroying brains, then maybe a crazy doctor would want to stay back here, make sure the 'patients' were tortured in life and death, but that's just what she guessed. She didn't have the mind of a crazy doctor, so how would she know.

"Besides, isn't that how you're supposed to make them come out?" Blair looked up at Saffron who was making her way over to the staircase and decided she would answer her. "Well, you could try provoking a ghost to make it show itself, but that could be potentially dangerous. I mean if there actually are ghosts here capable of harming someone, then that wouldn't be the best idea. Plus, in places like this that have or supposedly have tons of trapped spirits, you usually get a lot more activity, so we shouldn't have to if everything in that movie was true." She said finishing up with the equipment.
