Introduction
Training for over a decade..only to be told that the program you had dedicated your life to had been shut down indefinitely. Your given two choices..start over from the beginning in another program..or take the tool that had defied all odds..and survived, when her handler didn’t?
The idea behind the program was simple enough, using humans who had no chance of survival to create a weapon by infusing them with magical stones They were unable to make a choice, no one to say yes or no for them, no family no friends. What was created was creatures that were as powerful as any mage, although they could work with the general population..no talent in magic needed. Since magic was such a rare, yet powerful commodity..this was seen as the ideal course of action.
The government chose the handlers very carefully..only the best and brightest were offered this once in a lifetime chance. They would be expected to run missions that were very important, very quiet. Since the two man team could easily outdo any five man team..the less that knew of the details the better. The tools were created to be disposable..to serve faithfully until the magic pulled all the life from their bodies, or until the death of their handler.
Ironically the creatures were called Guardian Angels, because of the fact that when they were bonded with their handlers their physical body ceased to exist..sometimes appearing over their handlers shoulders as an almost ghostly like aura..like a guardian angel looking over her charges shoulder. When both handler and angel are bonded, the handler would then take over direct control of the angels magic and/or physical abilities if the angel is able to manifest itself as a weapon. They more often than not served quite literally as batteries for magic powers.
All in all the idea was simple, an angel of their own to protect them with everything they had to the point of death, without question. To these angels, their handlers were their entire world..they remembered nothing of life before they were infused with the magic..with good reason..there was less to distract them. No one really knows for sure what drives these creatures to protect their handlers so closely...either it was an artificial memory implanted into them or the only goal they ever had in this life..either way, loyalty was not a problem
Unfortunately things don't always go as intended..during what was supposed to be a routine mission, the unthinkable happened..a handler was killed despite the effort of his guardian angel..both were shipped out to a base hospital as soon as they were able, but only the angel pulled through..her handler died of his wounds.
Leave it to the government to not let something like that go to waste..thus, her memory was wiped and she was given a full check-up. She seemed perfectly healthy..thriving even..but would someone take a tool that had lived on despite everything in her telling her she should just die? Only time will tell that tale...
(I will be playing the part of the guardian angel ^^ Just need a soldier!)

As he entered the reasearch facility, Wade was a little astounded by the level of technology in the building, and he hadn't even left the lobby. Large holo-screens full of information he didn't understand, fast moving elevators that seemed to move up and down by way of electromagnetic pull, and a well dressed receptionist sitting behind a large desk, quietly smiling at him as he investigated the room.
"I'm in the right place, aren't I? This looked like the right building from the outside but..." Wade trailed of as he found something else to stare at on the ceiling.
"Well i guess that all depends on what your here for, you dont look much like a scientist, you wouldn't happen to be the young man being paired with the angel would you?"
"Yep, that would be me, could you point me in the right direction? I intend on showing up a little early just incase i might miss any important details."
The receptionist stood from her seat and walked to the edge of the desk, pointing down the hall as she spoke. "Take these elevators up to the 7th floor, make a right, and the door you want will the last one at the end of the hallway."
"Ah, thank you so much, have a nice day ma'am." He said with a wave before stuffing his hands in his pockets and making his way to the elevator. As he approached, the mechanical doors parted with a hum and stopped with a loud click. Inside he found a bright screen with all of the floor numbers present, going all the way up to 65. As soon as he tapped the number 7 the doors closed once again and the elevator jolted upward. Once he had got out again he found his hallway, it was longer than he expected, with white walls and windowless doors all the way down and stopped at a small door on the far end.
Well, here we go, I'm starting to get feeling that my life won't be the same after I open that door. I wonder what these angels are like, knowing my luck I'll end up with a timid child.
Wade he took deep breath before he turned the handle on the door, he had mixed feelings of excitement and doubt bouncing through his head. He gently pushed the door open and stepped inside

Sophia had been instructed to wait in another room, content to simply read for the time being. Yet the lead researcher, Davis..would be giving the new guy a briefing on the program as a whole. Davis stood inside, jotting down notes as he observed a video feed. Looking up upon hearing the door open, the notebook would be set aside, the slight man adjusting his glasses for a brief moment. "You must be Wade, I've heard good things about you. If you'll have a seat..I'll go over the details and you can meet your angel after that." He waited patiently, picking up a file that had been set aside, numerous bright red stickers crossed out, covered over by green stickers simply stating active. "I'm not sure how much you know of the project, essentially we take people that have no hope of survival and alter them using a key stone. Through this, magic can sustain life..and they are granted magical abilities. When the magic runs out, their stone shatters and they die, provided they don't loose their handler. The bond is a tricky thing, its designed so that they are eternally loyal to their handler..even to the point of death. Now in the event their handler is injured, the emotional stress is so severe that they will often perish if their handler is no longer alive. Hence..they are disposable tools. They have had their memory wiped of course..we don't want them thinking back on their old lives or thinking that they had been human once. Your angel is a very special case.." Tossing the folder onto the desk so that it slid toward him. "Her name is Sophia..element is air. She's a rather strange case..as her handler died almost a month ago and she still continues to thrive. Even under intense testing she seems no different than she was before this whole mess happened. She grieved of course, very deeply. After discovering that she wasn't going to die, we thought it better to erase the memories she had of her old handler..to give her a clean slate and make it possible for her to bond with another of course..these creatures are simply too expensive to create to let her go to waste. As for her personal history...its all in there. We don't have much information on her prior to her accident of course, but it gives you a general idea of the situation. There are a couple of forms in the back you'll need to look over and sign. Most are to make sure you know that she still is government property and can be taken away at any point and time. Your typical forms."
Davis soon turned his attention away from Wade, looking out the window as he spoke. "You'll be given your first mission very soon, but we will allow you to become familiar with her magic and such beforehand. I honestly can't say how long we believe she'll last..she was the first to ever live on despite her programming. I would suggest telling her as little as possible..the less things that are on her mind the better able she is to serve you. Distractions tend to cause trouble in the bond..mainly when they are upset over something. We've had a couple that were unable to manifest if their thoughts were too jumbled. All in all its a complicated relationship, but she knows full well what she is and what is expected of her. She is happiest knowing that she is being useful."
