Guardians: Out of Darkness

Guardians: Out of Darkness Open

Most humans don't believe in demons. They are stories their ancestors told when they could not understand how the world worked. But when a group of friends find a boy fleeing SOMETHING, this belief is put to the test... (1 Guardian Spot open)

Introduction

Children are afraid of what goes bump in the night. They imagine nameless horrors dwelling in the darkness, waiting to pounce and perform nameless horrors upon them. So, when they hear the nightwatches in the walls and feel the icy hand of cold fear gripping their heart, they run into their parents bedroom and spend the night between them rather than face the darkness alone. As they grow older, they look back on these memories and feel silly. There's no such thing as monsters. And they are partly right. There are no monsters.

But there are Demons.

Demons have plagued the world for thousands of years. They appear in every religion, every mythology, monotheistic, polytheistic, or animistic. Like silent creatures in the shadows, they lurk, ready to inflict various horrors upon humanity, but as soon as one looks for them, they vanish. Out of sight, out of reality it seems. Demons do not dwell in the Mortal Realm. They have their own world, a nameless abode separated from humanity by an endless void, a void that can only be bridged by the dreams of mortals.

For demons do not have physical form in this world. They may enter the world only through the dreams of mortals, seizing their minds and dominating them as they transform their host into something like their original body. They consume their minds, their hearts, and even their very spirit.

Yet, despite well-known tales of terrible demons possessing poor mortals, humanity no longer believes. Such superstitious nonsense has no place in this modern world, but with technological and intellectual progress, demons do not disappear. They enter the world silently, maliciously, with none the wiser.

And yet, when a boy pursued by demons both in this world and within his own dreams is found by a group of young friends, these young people must put disbelief aside and become the first GUARDIANS in centuries. They must face their fears and defy them. For if they fall, the world will follow...

Setting

Just outside of the mid-size town of La Sena, California, a derelict piece of property has recently been renovated and transformed into a respectable institute of learning dubbed Ab Initio Academy. Catering students at high school age, Ab Initio's curriculum is based on firm logic and reasoning to better prepare teenagers for the realities of college and the real world. The Head does not tolerate any nonsense or fooling around, but the school is well-funded and has already made national and international news. Housing is provided for foreign and out-of-town students and for its first year, scholarships have been sent out to students from around the world. The Board of Directors is very ambitious and plans on creating the finest high school in the world. Of course, unbeknownst to them, a great secret is hidden beneath campus.

Image

Let all students remember that they are here as privileged guests. Any rule-breaking or gallivanting off to town without permission or during school hours will be strictly punished. You are here to learn, not goof off or play ridiculous games about monsters or nightmares.

Guardians

So, you want to be a guardian, huh? Don't make me laugh. You are all just scrawny little teenagers, not worth being a demon's brunch, let alone their fiercest enemies. I could smash your head in and put you out of your misery. Guardians are puny humans trained to fight against demons both within and in the real world. They are masters of all forms of combat from magic, archery, melee weapons, holy items, and even firearms you humans seem to be fond of lately. The hours are grueling and there is no one to teach you. Want me to put you out your misery? No? Well, it's your choice.

Demons
I suppose you think the most dangerous demons are the monstrous ones that desire to eat human flesh? True, those exist, but they pale in comparison to those who are able to retain a humanlike form. These demons cunning and powerful and will stop at nothing to further their own goals, whatever they may be. Although their relations with one another are strained at the best of times, they all share a hatred of the Guardians and a desire for the world. Then there are demons with secret agendas hidden from even the others. Be glad that you haven't even begun to encounter the worst of them! Not that your luck will last...

Element/Magic

All living things are affiliated with an element, whether they know it or not. Demons are able to create and manipulate their element naturally. Mortals, however, must unlock their element through training and research. They are as follows: Light, Dark, Fire, Water, Ice, Earth, Air, Lightning, Time, Life, and Death. A Guardian using an element uses their own energy to fuel their powers and thus cannot afford as many ostentatious displays as demons. However, mortals are more skilled in controlling their element and demons risk reducing their hosts to dust if they use too much power.

The ability to use magic is different from the ability to use an element. For one, it is a RARE talent that enables to user to use all elements, but none to the extent of their natural element. Arcane abilities include shields, rituals, healing, illusions, and other, non-elemental abilities. Mortals who use magic heedlessly can often tire themselves out or die from attempting to do too much. Demons are only able to use magic to maintain an illusion to hide their true nature, possess humans, and, ultimately, use a ritual open a gateway to the Demon Realm if they gain access enough power and artifacts.

Nightmares and Possession

Humans do not exactly remain in the Mortal Realm as they dream. Rather, their consciousness stretches beyond the world as their mind conceives of infinite possibilities, unrestricted by the rules that govern their home. Unfortunately for them, this attracts demons from beyond the world. Demons enter a victim's dream in order to overwhelm the human's mind and spirit and dominate them in order to transform their body to their liking. Demons primarily use their fears and insecurities against them, producing nightmares to break their spirit. Once a demon possesses a host, it is almost impossible to drive them out without killing the human. Successfully driving a demon out of a host and saving them has only been accomplished twice in the history of the Guardians.

Despite the grave dangers of possession, there are ways limiting the demon's power. For example, it is extremely difficult for a demon to possess a host with an element other than their own, particularly when it is the opposite such as when a fire demon attempts to possess a human with a water element. Furthermore, there are techniques and training Guardians can undertake to fight and drive away a demon from his or her mind. It is for this reason that demons rarely go after Guardians unless they know they can win. In addition, if a demon already has a host, it will have to sacrifice it in order to take over a new host. If the demon is repelled, it is sent back to the Demon Realm.

Rules

1.Please respect RoleplayGateway's rules. This should be obvious. One of my earlier roleplays was deleted because a couple of players decided to post explicit content.

2. No one-liners. I expect posts to average around three paragraphs or more.

3. No god-modding. Your character should be as strong as we can reasonably expect. A human can grow more skilled or powerful over time, but weaknesses should be taken in account and your attacks should be semi-realistic. For example, no taking out a hundred foot tall Fire Demon in one hit. As for demons, they should not be invulnerable or unstoppable. Demons may be immortal, but the mortals they possess are not and like it or not, holy objects and magic does hurt.

4. Cussing and descriptive battles are encouraged, but if things are getting heated between two characters, take it to PM's.

5. Respect other people's cultures and beliefs. I don't want this to turn into a flame war about what you and others should believe. This is for FUN.

6. Spelling and Grammar should be taken seriously. I understand if there are some mistakes or typos, but I would like this to be a literate roleplay.

7. Respect your fellow roleplayers. I know that I don't need to remind everyone that we're all friends here.

8. As for whatever may be missing from the rules, just use common sense and feel free to PM me or post in the OOC if you have any questions.

9. Have Fun!

James Kaden was no stranger to running long distances. He didn't have much money or any sort of vehicle. He didn't even have a bicycle. Thus, when he was chased, which was more often than he would have liked, he had only his own two legs and his luck to depend on. Nonetheless, after running two miles in blistering heat that was better suited for midsummer than autumn, James was tired and soaked with sweat. Heat definitely wasn't his element. If it was winter, he'd have excaped by now, but a roar that sounded far too close told him that the being chasing after him was at least five feet away, maybe ten if he was lucky.

The demon looked to be a cross between a hyena and a coyote with an unnatural amount of teeth in its mouth that looked like each was stuffed in among the others to fit as many of them in as tiny space as possible, not to mention it reached a head over him on its hind legs. James had been hoping that when he entered the city, it would back off, return to whatever wasteland that it inhabited before it caught his scent, but no such luck. He scowled and looked over his shoulder, the demon's yellow eyes wide in anticipation. It must not have eaten in a long time or it took some perverse pleasure in the hunt. James wouldn't discount either possibility.

He glanced back and gathered energy in his palm before thrusting it behind him, sending a pair of sharp, icy spikes at the beast, but it didn't even move out of the way as the ice hit it, its body transmuting into sand where it was hit, his attack passing harmlessly through it before it reformed. He cursed quietly. He was too weak now to defeat it. Normally, a demon at this level wouldn't be a problem for him, but he had encountered it in the desert outside the city and this unnatural heat wave was augmenting it. Combine that with his natural element and the fact that he had been traveling two days straight without any sleep and James knew he was in trouble.

"Give up, ice-human! There's nowhere to go!" the it screeched out and idly, James wondered what the people around him were seeing and hearing. A rabid hyena? And escaped animal from the zoo? For the thousandth time, he cursed humanity's blindness before running towards the edge of town. If he had to die, then at least he'd get the demon away from other people. As he was running, he spotted something. A high wall separating what looked to be a series of buildings from the rest of the city towered over him like a castle's defenses. Even better, it was one of those old walls that had vines growing along it. he smiled and quickly grabbed a vine, pulling himself up as he scaled the rest of the wall frantically, using the plants like stepping stones. He didn't look back. He knew that the demon was climbing after him, but he was faster. He was just at the top of the wall when he cried out in surprise and pain.

"Aggh!! he groaned, biting his tongue before he could shout even more. It felt like a railroad spike had been driven through his ankle and he looked down to find his left foot in the demon's mouth. He grimaced slightly, but drew his jian from his side and stabbed downward at it. Its eyes widened in surprise and he saw he drew a little blood before it dissolved itself in sand again to avoid injury. Quickly, he jumped off, making sure to land on his good leg before looking around. It appeared that he was on a campus of some sort. He was not far from a dormitory. He grimaced as he staggered forward. How was he going to explain this?

Emilia, often better known as eyes, walked in an almost idle state of the campus of her so called school. The weather had been unnaturally hot lately, but she wasn't complaining, the girl could light herself on fire and still be in some twisted heaven. She stuck out like a sore thumb at this school, for many reasons. She was always alone, never speaking to someone unless it was some smart remark or an insult - and the occasional threat. She didn't seem have any friends of any kind and people tended to steer clear of her, and lastly - she looked like someone's human sized porcelain doll. What other reason what they call her Eyes but for those large puppy dog eyes - though they looked as if to have no soul they were a thing of beauty - or something to creep people out, both were possibilities. She wore a short white dress with lots of layers and ruffles at the bottom, with a garter belt connected to two different length stockings. Her shoes were white platforms, with bows on them, she had a black lace glove on one hand, and bracelets with unusual writing engraved on them on the other. Her hair was a long light brown hanging just passed her hips, slightly wavey and blowing in the wind. In one hand she held a small black and white decorated school bag, with doodles all over it and things hanging out due to being over stuffed.

Nothing particularly interesting had happened to her lately, and she wished something had. Ever since she ran away from home, having killed her parents - though by accident, she had lived alone away from the world. Or at least, that was how it seemed most of the time. When she learned of demons it perked her up some, she had the horrible habit of seeking adventure, trouble, danger. It was something she could never get away from, she attracted bad things and situations, and she embraced them with open arms. But now, nothing had happened lately and she was almost going insane. She looked around at the school, mentally laughing to herself, she tried to imagine herself as one of the people surrounded by friends laughing and gossiping. The thought almost made her sick to her stomach, Eyes was not a social one. She did not make nice with others easily, and others did not like her for many many reasons.

Just then, out of the corner of her eye she saw what looked like a boy hop the giant wall of China or so she reffered to it, and with just a faint green color in his aura, she realized he was sick or injured. Due to his movements, she was going to be injured. From afar she scanned his body, and located the source to be his ankle, she raised an eyebrow as it peaked her interest, absentmindedly she seemed to be walking towards him, until eventually the two were face to face. She was immediately irritated with herself when she realized she was going to have to speak to him. She looked at his ankle now closer this time, a fresh wound and a deep one at that. Her dead eyes were beside themselves, "That's interesting, what the hell happened to you?" she stood still in front of him and noticed something interesting about his aura. There was an unnatrual blue color, one not associated with mood, sickness, but something she had seen before - somewhere.

She concluded that he had been chased, injured, jumped the fence and now was here. But he was fascinating to her for some reason. Eyes was never really able to see her own aura, as mirrors did not show them, but whenever she had looked at her hands there was an orange glow about them. It was similar to this blue one, somehow. Eyes had not only been associated with fire as a natural element, but the others as well, though water, ice, and time were the ones she had best control over aside from her natural affinity. Then there were the non - elemental magics or so she called them, which came as natural as fire - with their own weaknesses however. "Well don't just stand there." she said after adding a few swear words after. "Or do you want to get caught - again?" a twisted smile crossed her face, she hoped soon life would be interesting. If he was paying attention close enough, perhaps he would realize time had stopped.

Ab Inito Campus - Sorority Dorms
Dante "Ronin" Carter

-Carefully prying a feminine arm which had snaked itself about his torso sometime from the other night , a cautious glance back at the owner of the arm revealed a sleeping beauty, although he hadn't a name to go by, he recognized the face as belonging to that of a girl who went to school nearby. A quick surveying glimpse about the room had told a story about the girl who had been a virtual stranger to him just hours ago. Pictures from egypt, paris, japan, jamaica, posing with yachts and expensive cars. the girl apparently came from money, a daddy's girl from the looks of it as well. The type of girl that was warned to avoid boys like Dante.-

"not bad" Dante thought to himself, managing to unroll the layer of comforter on his side, completely freeing himself from the girls embrace, sitting at the edge of the bed, he would reach for his coat which was strewn about the floor mixed in with an assortment of clothing articles, searching his pocket, he withdrew what looked to be a lighter and a roll of paper, its contents questionable. flicking the lighter, a flame sparked the end of the swisher cigar wrap, a healthy plume of smoke ascending and mystifying the dorm room-

A soft voice responding to Dante's smoke signal. "So, are you going to pass that or what?". The blonde now roused from sleep.
"I didn't know this was your thing" Returned Dante, -holding the toke for her to take - "It is, and my name is Allison if you hadn't noticed. If you stay awhile, there may be breakfast in it for you"

"Sorry, but it looks like I'll have to decline on the breakfast offer. There's someplace important I have to be and I'm running a bit behind as it is." Dante, carefully handling himself into jeans, along with belt buckle into appropriate holder. Reaching for coat, a show of hand revealed calloused fingers with ring finger decorated with ornate customized jewelry. The rings face consisted of Onyx, trimmed with gold inscribed lettering which read "BK" . What secrets did the artifact of bling hold? Perhaps a symbol recognizing allegiance to a secret group or organization.

"And where would that place be?" -Peered the girl with an almost cheshire expression-

"The administrations office" He turned, starting at her door. "And oh yeah, stay away from bad boys. I hear they're trouble" he gave a slight nod before exiting the room, making his way down the hall and steps leading away from the sorority house , venturing out onto the open campus square"

Lean did a little stretching as he walked towards the schools campus. Ever since his aunt and him moved to this town for him to go to this school he has been trying his best. After he woke up a little late, he managed to get scolded for being irresponsible for not setting his alarm. It took him even longer to find clothes for the day. He was riffling his closet and dresser for something that would be a good thing to wear. He ended up choosing a solid black shirt and some baggy khaki pants with his white converse shoes. Eating breakfast was a nightmare for him. When he got down stairs and apologized for his tardiness he got yet another lecture on picking clothes for the next day. He sat there in quite solace just listening and not paying attention. Once he was finally finished he calmly backed out of the kitchen and thanked his aunt for the meal, grabbed his bag and left the house in a quickened paced.

He couldn't help but yawn when he got closer to the school. "This place will suck out your soul if you stay here to long." He chuckled to himself when he had said that. He began to fan himself by picking up his shirts and flapping it in quick succession to get some air to his chest. This heat wave has been killing his fun ever since it arrived here. 'Shorts would have been a better idea for today.' He thought has he stepped onto campus. He adjusted his bag because sweat is kinda gross when it accumulates on your lower back. He knew immediately that for some odd reason the grass was still green and soft as he stepped out onto it. He decided to scan the campus to see if he knew anyone who was here yet. Instead of looking further he spotted a girl standing with a young man who was standing on one leg. He was wondering what happened, so he began to move over towards them.

"Everything okay over here?" He asked as he was approaching the two. He was a little curious as to how the boy got over to the wall as seeing as he hasn't ever seen the kid before. When he got up to them he gave a quick look over on the boy and saw that the boys ankle was bleeding a copious amount. "Um that can't be healthy. We should get him to the nurse or something." He moved over toward the kid and asked "What happened to you?" He started to rub the back of his head thinking 'This day is going to be interesting.'

Isabella woke up in a nearby forest on the outside of the town. Since she was in her host, she had the weird effects of being human. That mean't sleeping, eating, and whatever else went with it. The ground below her was very cold. She couldn't remember what happened the night before that left her in this mad place, but she didn't want to stay. Rising up on her feet, she brushed her pearly white shirt and skimpy grey shirt off. Looking at all of the dirt stains on her she shook her head. 'Disgusting Isabella' she said to herself. Picking up a bag that she had left there and slipping on her shoes, she walked back into town. People scattered around her franticly trying to get to the grocery store or to find the next big sale. Girls in slinky bikini's strolled by on their rollarblades and waved at surfers on the beach. Isabella breathed a fresh breath of air into her lungs. It felt good to be inside of a human.

A bunch of students were heading towards the school yard of an academy. She had no intention of becoming part of any type of school just because she felt like she shouldn't have to work. As she walked by she sat down on a bench that probably belonged to the school. She paid no attention to the students walking past her. A boy with blond hair standing about a yard away from her caught her eye. As did the few other students standing near him. She slowly examined their figures, their body tone, and voices. Because she was part demon, her human senses were greatly enhanced allowing her to hear, smell, taste, and see anything better than a normal human being. She listened in on the conversation. As much as she hated this school, she always found herself coming right back to the same place.

She continuously enhanced her senses to get a better feeling of each person. She was tempted to exchange words just incase she needed a new host. Emma was becoming scrawny and unhealthy. Isabella never went to a hospital to treat the girl, so if she continued to get sick, Emma might die and Isabella might be trapped. Deciding that it was proably best that she didn't interfere her senses backed off.

'Maybe this wasnt the best time..' Isabella thought to herself

The entire family had been stuck in the small black Saturn car for 2 days. It was quite hot, compared to the 401 highway in Canada. Apparently this is partly because they're on vacation, partly 'cause of other reasons, like detective work. A white pigeon had crawled out of Lloyd's jacket. "Okay," Lloyd complained, "Just because Com was practicing soccer with demons and I stole a demon's candy means nothing!" Their father was slightly irritated, but their Mother always had more patience, she was something else, that woman. Com was forced to be reduced to some kind of Hex Editting, because he couldn't get internet connection. Lucy, Lloyd's little sister, was reading Nosferatu for the 7th time, Dracula for the 26th time, and Twilight for the 34th time. She also had a couple Touhou Project mangas. Lloyd's father was busy driving and Lloyd's mother was listening to songs by Tokie Hotel on her iPhone, with her headphones on. Lloyd was reduced to taking care of his perfectly tame pigeons, Serenade, Melody, Forte, Bass, Piano and Da Carpo, all with fully white feathers. They often liked hiding in his jacket or sleeves, or perching on his head or sholders or legs.

Besides talking to his pigeons, he was extremely bored and had a mild case of ADHD, which helped even less. Plus, his pigeons, though understood some words, they only truely understood orders and tricks. Lloyd let out a loud grown. Everybody, even his pigeons, even the singer on the headphones and the person on the cover of Dracula, took a glance at him, but resumed as if he was sitting quietly. Why where they even going to a small town in California? Lloyd has never been to California before, and other than the beaches and the expensive hotels, he didn't think it was so fun. Places like Flordia and Toronto were awesome, and he's been to Detroit many times, because it's right across the river from Winsor, across the border, and it can be crossed by the Ambassador Bridge or The Tunnel. Also, he imagined New York to be like Toronto, but smogier and with 12 hour traffic jam and to be set up like in movies, and of course the Empire State Building seemed legendary (but that's from reading too much Percy Jackson). Either way, there were many other places he wanted to go. His father must of had a client call from here and the client was paying A TON, so this must of had been an huge case, possibly something supernatural? Like some paranoid person thought he found a ckub filled with vampires, what a rediculous sight that would be, if he found out he was only extremely drunk. Well, Lloyd's father brought the family, so at least they could stay somewhere expensive. Suddenly, all 6 pigeons kept looking around cooing. Nobody payed attention except Lloyd. "Anything wrong?" he whispered to Da Carpo.

So far, the day had been fairly boring. A normal, sleepy day of oppressive heat on the campus of Ab Initio Academy. And oppressive really meant oppressive - Lucas had not felt heat like this for as long as he could remember. Being eighteen years old, that was not very long, but it didn't much matter. The point was that he had never felt heat like this before, and it had begun to annoy him. He had always hated it when he walked around with his shirt sticking to his spine. Shirts simply were not supposed to do that.

With a soft sigh, Lucas stepped out into the blinding sunlight, raising one hand to block it off for a moment, at least until his pupils had the chance to shrink down to an acceptable size and restore his vision. As soon as the sun had become a little bit less than searing, he let his hand drop and stuffed it in the pocket of his tatty green sweatshirt, shaking golden hair down over his brown eye. The other one, bright blue, was the only one that anyone ever saw. Knowing full-well that he would regret wearing a sweatshirt, but having promised himself he would never be seen without a hood on this campus, he headed out across the lawn. What he was aiming to do he could not have said – he was just looking for something to do, someone to chat with. In spite of all hid half-concealed appearances, and the almost satirical smirk on his lips, he was a very social person.

Silence bothered him. And on a day as hot as this, things tended to be pretty quiet.
It wouldn’t take more than a couple minutes to prove that today wasn’t going to be one of those days where things did what they “tended” to do.

Totally unsuspecting, Lucas came around the corner to discover a cluster of students in the middle of the lawn. Well, mostly students. One of them, he didn’t recognize…
That one was bleeding.

“Woah…” he muttered as he drew nearer to them – when he had decided to approach them, he was not sure, but apparently he had. “That looks nasty.”
He stared for a moment at the boy’s bleeding ankle, then looked up at the boy’s face. “You want to go to the nurse?” he asked, as though it was perfectly normal to ask someone who was bleeding whether they wanted to go to the nurse, instead of just taking them.

Cassandra flopped around on the top of the stone wall, balanced perfectly on his back. A human would probably have toppled over the edge by now but he was no human, and he knew what he was doing. Sleeping on the narrow ledge had become a sort of habit of his, and he knew, even unconscious, exactly how far he could roll before he fell.

He had also come to know exactly when it was time to wake up.

At a scrabbling of feet on the wall, his eyes slitted open, as brightly yellow as a couple of citrine stones. He rolled over onto his stomach, propping himself up on the slender arms that belonged to this perfectly androgynous human who hosted him. Disguised in the shadows, he watched from almost one hundred feet away as a boy leapt over the wall and limped away onto the campus, to be met by a flock of pitiful little human children. Cassandra did not need to look to know why the boy was injured – he could smell the other demon.

Why would a demon chase that boy…?
Who cared?

Sighing quietly, Cassandra rolled over again, this time flopping straight off of the wall. He twisted in mid-air, landed lightly on his feet, and paused quickly to check that not a hair was out of place before he flounced out across the lawn. He was the most beautiful boy in the school – his host looking more like a pretty girl than a guy – and he knew it. And he flaunted it.

And sometimes, he let a girl, or even a guy, play with it. But only sometimes. If they were good to him.

That wasn’t the point, however. The point was that everyone on campus knew who he was, recognized him on sight, and he made sure that stayed the case. This new boy was on his campus, and even if he wasn’t going to stay, he was going to know who Cassandra was.
Running his hand once more through his semi-wild, strawberry-blonde hair, he walked up to the group with his chin tipped high and proud.

“What happened to you?” he demanded. “Why are you bleeding all over my campus?”

The heat of the noon sun was almost unbearable. What added to Duranni's discomfort was the backpack crammed with books on her back. But that was self induced. She would rather have her books than not, anyways. Or would she? Maybe she could give some to other readers. It was heavy and uncomfortable, sure, but her treasure trove was worth it. So she told herself.

Duranni finally reached the town. Full of tall, impressive buildings and various stores, it was also filled to the brim -no, over the brim - with humans. Her host's stomach rumbled. She reached in her pocket and pulled out some money, enough for a meal. Duranni fed her host body well, she felt like she owed the human who had once lived in the demon-inhabited shell that much at least. Plus, eating was a pleasent experience for the most part.

Humans are truly ingenious when it comes to making things, Duranni thought as she bit into he freshly bought pizza. It seems too often that demons destroy instead of create. That was one of the reasons she valued books so highly. They were masterpieces of the human mind, both in what was contained in them and how they were made. She respected humans and secrectly wanted to make friends among them, but dreaded the consequences of another demon finding out. Thus, so far she had refrain from making too much contact with humans. She planned to change that today. She heard there was a school around nearby. Duranni finished eating her pizza and started heading in the direction of the school. She reached it later than sooner. I won't be recognized as a demon, right? Duranni thought.

-Dante rummaged through pants pockets, searching for a map detailing directions to the administrations office. He was often the type to lose sense of direction. The unusual layout of the campus only compounded to his overall disorientation. He must have left it back at the dorm, he thought to himself. Not very far from his vantage point he observed two suspicious persons, he couldn't help but notice them because one had been bleeding somewhat profusely at the lower ankle, his foot looked like it had been impaled by a railroad spike. In his hands vicegrip resembled a chinese straightsword. A jian as they were known, this stood out to him as a red flag.

The other figure in question belonged to that of a girl. Judging at a glance, she didn't have much of a figure and she wasn't all that pleasing on the eyes either. She also gave off a bit of a creepy vibe which unsettled him on some level, despite this though it was against his moral compass to turn blind eye to another persons suffering , even if it was against his better judgement.

"Of all the times not to carry my blade on me..." Dante approaching the two with a bit of natural suspicion upon his expression. -Hawk-like eyes panning about their blindside. This made him look even more deadpan if that were even possible. - .Comming from the slums he understood that trusting others, even they were close friends and relatives was not to be done without putting your own safety first, but what manner of threat could an injured boy and girl pose to him? This was Dante "Ronin" Carter. One of the most infamous street toughs in all America, the man who single handedly conquered the mid-west.

"What's going on over here? You think you can walk? Stay there and I'll get to you ".

A girl was approaching him. That was just what James was afraid of. He glanced behind him and heard the demon scaling the wall step by step, as though the the vines confused it. They probably did, considering it had lived in the desert. Lush greenery was alien to it. His icy blue eyes met the girl's glassy ones. They, along with her small frame, made her look like a porcelain doll, but that was irreverent now. The girl was in danger and she didn't even know it. He met her eyes and said seriously, "If I told you, you wouldn't believe me. Blind as humanity is by its preconceived notions of "logic" or "reason." Just know that I'm being chased by something and if you don't want to die with me, you should go."

As he was delivering his lecture, he felt some sort prickling on his skin, as though his environment had changed. He glanced around and, sure enough, he caught sight of a bird halted in mid-flight and yet still in the air. He glanced at the girl curiously. That meant... No. It was too much to hope for. He had searched for them everywhere for longer than he liked to remember. Yet, he had to ask her. If she knew anything about the guardians...

"You have manipulated time. Are you one of them? Are they training you? I knew that they were supposed to be in this town, but I thought they'd be gone, like everywhere else. What is your name?" he added hastily, reminding himself of his manner. He hadn't been surprised like this in months.

And yet, more people arrived in their little bubble, despite the spell. One was an older black kid and the other a kid that wouldn't look out of place in a slasher film, but he knew better than to judge by appearances.

"More? No... I'll be fine. I can't see anyone. Too many questions. If you don't know how to fight, then you should leave, but if you're a Guardian, it's an honor to meet you both. And if you must know, I'm fleeing a demon from the very depths of hell," he told them hastily before glancing at yet another kid, this one that he couldn't tell was male or female.

"I was unaware this place belonged to you. If it is the place I think it is, it belongs to the Guardians," he told him sternly, put off by his rudeness.

Oh, thank god, was on Lloyd's mind, after he woke up from an eye resting to see they were in the town. They drove past houses and other things. They stopped on front of a building, a school most likely, students were going in it. Lloyd grinned at the thought of missing his own school, just to take a vacation, his classmates should be sooo jealous right now. "Why we stopping here?" Lloyd asked. "Can you stay here for a little bit? We'll get a motel room or something and then we'll be going to the nearest store and..." as soon as the word store came out of his father's mouth, both Com and Lloyd got out. The car drove away, Lucy staring out the window, and happy she wasn't inbetween two older sweaty nerds anymore. "Why onfront of a school?" Lloyd asked. Com shrugged. All of Lloyd's pigeons were perched on his clothing and hair. Com had his laptop in his arm, everyday was work day for him. Lloyd and Com sat near the stairs of the high school. Com openned his laptop and was trying to continue with some programming. Lloyd was making bird seed appear out of thin air using magic trick, to feed his pigeons.

Leon just looked at the kid who was blabbing on about demons and guardians. "Um i'm sorry but I think you've lost quite a bit of blood. I think you might be seeing things." He couldn't figure out what this kid was talking about 'why would we have to fight anything?' he thought 'This is absurd.' He kinda scratched his head and started to look around but nothing was moving "Um why is nothing moving?"

He started to freak out and pace a little bit. Leon was completely confused at the situation, he kept looking around but nothing was moving and he started to rub his head as if he was trying to think of some logical way this could be happening. "I've got nothing. So Whats a guardian then?" He asked holding his hand across his face. When he moved his hand he noticed another kid was coming there to. He even yelled and yet he really didn't notice. He tried to think and started to pat himself down as if he were looking for something. "Nope." He said as he couldn't find a knife or anything. "I took some training to fight but I don't have a weapon on me."

Leon then looked a little confused. 'Why am I believing this kid.' He turned to look at the kid when he heard in his head 'Trust him, he will lead to your true path.' He quickly looked around with a small panicked look on his face. "Who said that?" He then looked at the kid "I've got your back no matter what happens. You could say I just have this feeling that something is going to happen." he looked over at the wall behind this person and studied it for a second "So what are we fighting?"

...lies...

"no-one will love you, child....everyone is just lying to you...no-one is truly being honest with you...you're alone...you have no-one...no friend, no family, no nothing...you're alone, child..." A voice whispered in the back of the boy's fragile mind and he turned his head, whimpering as the nightmare began. Why did this have to happen to him? Why did he have to have nightmares like this every night? It was starting to tire him out. He tossed and turned on his bed.

...weaknesses...

"p-please...n-no more....p-please....d-don't haunt me...w-whatever I d-did...I-I'm sorry...please...d-don't g-give me n-nightmare...p-please..." The boy begged in his sleep, tears streamed down his pretty face. However, begging was useless. Begging could not stop the nightmare...for the demon did not want to harm the boy. It wanted his pretty face.

...manipulation...

"if you want the pain to stop, child...accept me...give in...give me your body...I will make everything go away...I will protect you...child, give in...you will be no longer in pain...I promise..." The voice whispered gently and the boy shivered. The voice smirked, it almost won.

...shaky belief...

"r-really?...if I accept you, you won't give m-me n-nightmares anymore?..." The boy whispered in his sleep, utterly broken. And the voice grinned maliciously. Finally!

"yes, child...accept me...make me a part of you...I promise you won't have to feel pain anymore...just say 'yes', child..." The voice hissed in his ears and the boy whimpered again, this time in fear.

"...y-yes..."

...Victory...

The darkness began to wrap around the boy's mind, twisting it, turning it. Making his vulnerable mind become its. It smirked and felt the boy's soul weakened. Good...excellent...just a little more...

...complete control...

The boy's eyes snapped open and he began to laugh like a maniac, making his parents became even more worried about their son's state of mind. He turned his dark purple eyes and looked at them, a sneer appeared on his lips, making his handsome face became eviler. "I am fine, Father, Mother...you do not need to worry about me...you are dismissed..." He gave a gesture with his hand and his parents, who were still having a shock expression on their face, rushed toward him and asked worriedly "A-are you alright, son? what happened? do you still have nightmare? do you need anything?..."

The boy, no, the creature of the dark growled in annoyance at its host's parents. He said coldly "...I said I was alright...there is no need to get yourself concerned over me...now if you excuse me, I need to prepare to go to school..." His parents just nodded dumbly and walked away, still too shocked to react.

The door closed softly and it was alone in the room. It allowed a cruel smirk to cross its face. It was not it anymore, it was a he now and it had a name. Its name was Kaze Odayakana...and he was going to cause havoc and destruction to this world, taking everything to himself.

...money...

...power...

...women...

...everything...

He would have them all...and more and more and more. He started laughing again. This time, the madness was visible in his laughter. Humanity...what a laugh...He would destroy this world...and he would succeed in doing so. Nothing could stay out of his way. And especially, not humans. He would complete his goal...

...World Domination...

Eyes raised an eyebrow at the boy, he was going on about guardians and all this other bullshit that she didn't even want to bother responding to. Asking if she was one of them, who was training her, no one was training her of course. But when he spoke about something chasing him, and that if she didn't leave now she would die with him, a large grin appeared on her face. How fun it would be if something was chasing them, but when he spoke of a demon, that's when she truely was sure she was sticking around. She was no coward and no little girl who was going to run away from something, she wanted to see this demon, if she died with him, ell too bad. Of course, there was no way in hell she would ever let anyone or anything kill her, that was just like losing, and she didn't lose - anything. She saw him glance at something, the stopped time perhaps? Time was not her main element so she couldn't hold time forever, though. More people started approaching which was a buzzkill. They were so concerned about his ankle, his stupid ankle, but truely it wasn't like he was going to die because of that ankle.

But the amusement came from someone who walked up to them and ask why he was bleeding all over their school. She looked out them with a sarcastic expression, "I don't see you're fucking name written all over the place." Her eyes taunted them, come get me they screamed. But she turned to the boy, who was spilling out all these things she didn't understand. "I don't know what the fuck you are talking about, but, I have no intention of standing here waiting for something interesting to happen." She then pushed passed all the people, with the assumption at least one of them would take care of the boy, and quickly climbed the ivy over the fence. As she stood there, she looked down to see a hideous creature struggling up the vine. She laughed out of amusement, life was going to get interesting. Quickly looking back at the time stopped behind her, give or take several people which she didn't understand why it didn't effect them, she jumped off the wall and landed below the creature. "So you do exist." she said in a dark tone.

Logic would say don't set fire to something or don't use so called magic in front of others, but then she never did listen to others. She had no one to tell her what to do, and if someone caught her, well, she'd worry about that later. Her whole body appeared to light up in flames, and she threw a few fireballs at the creature which angered it and made it stumble and fall, but it didn't seem to hurt the creature. Pity, accustomed to fire maybe, taunting the creature which then spoke to her, blades of ice appeared on her arms and she dashed at it, only to change the ground to ice and take it by surprise, the creature slipping and hitting a nearby fence. "Ooops?" She wondered if she would die right here, at least she would die having fun.

"I don't know anything about Guardians or Demons but I can sure as hell handle myself in a fight, however you don't sound like you're all there mentally. I hear that the heat can do terrible things to a persons pscyhe, either way I think it's best if someone brought this man a drink a water and tended to his wound before he slips even further". "My name's Dante by the way, I'm here to help you but talks about demons and science fiction isn't going to help anyone, understand?". Dante would turn to the others who had been standing nearby watching the bizarree scene unfold in its entirety , shaking his head as to show disbelief to the idea.

At this time a deep sense of forbodding had overcome Dante, he didn't quite know what to attribute this anxiety toward. Dante was not the type to be easily swayed or driven to sudden unease of all things, even someone with as little of spiritual awareness as Dante could feel that something wasn't quite right, it was far too close and overpowering to be dismissed or judged by something as sleight as logic or reasoning, dante only thought in terms of survival. Whatever it had been was going to reveal itself sooner rather than later. Drawing hands into solid fists, he would take on a boxers stance , using his body to fortify the already weakened strange blue haired man and girl. "Whatever it is you were running from, it seems drawn to you. I'm sure the government is somehow behind whatever this here thing is. I wouldn't put it pass them."

"A demon. It it's lower in its hierarchy, but the heat wave has strengthened it. Ambushed me in the desert so I had to use all my energy getting out of its element," James told the silvery-haired boy. He frowned at the girl's words and suppressed the urge to smack his head. So these weren't Guardians. So much for finding a safe haven. He groaned as she climbed the wall. Did she really think she could defeat it on her own? As soon as it managed to find its way up the wall it would kill her. He heard a crash and realized the demon was pounding on the wall now and by the sound of it, it had increased its size. Joy.

"Whatever she just did made it angry," he noted, spotting cracks beginning to appear on the wall. He grimaced and picked up his jian, rubbing two fingers up and down the flat of the sword, giving it a faint blue glow. He tried to fight the subsequent lightheadedness. At the black kid's words, he smiled slightly. Of course, he didn't believe him. No one ever did. He seemed to notice the creature, however. No matter, he wasn't going to argue semantics with him. He held it up to him and the silvery-haired kid.

"I've infused my jian with the Ice Element. The creature transmutes itself into sand whenever it feels threatened, but it is not infallible and can only stay in that form for a few seconds. If you manage to stick this through its heart or head before it changes into sand or right after it reforms, it should kill it."

He smiled slightly, "Or, if you think I'm delusional and the creature a normal beast, it should be killed all the same."

The wall began to collapse and he turned to the girl that had perched herself on it, his once wry tone filled with concern, "Get away now!"

Leon quickly grabbed the blade and felt the cold in it. It was a good weight in his hand he would try his best. Leon grabbed the boy and throw to side hoping that he didn't hurt him. As the wall crumbled he was under. He cover his head as the wall collapsed on top of him. Dust flew up as the wall hit the ground and when it cleared Leon was in the middle of rubble. When opened his eyes and realized that there was some black substance in front of him. He was unsure of what happened much less as to what it was. To him it looked like a shadow had come up and protected him. "Um what is this?"

Leon poked the shadow to see of it even had a feeling. Once he touched it, the shadow began to wrap itself around him. In a surprised voice "What's it doing, what's it doing?' The shadow just began to swirl and wrap around him. 'Calm yourself' a voice had said in his head. 'Its your element control it embrace it and it shall embrace and protect you.' Leon let the shadow spiral around him. His thoughts were just all over the place. "Its my shadow." He said as he extended his arm and it merged onto his hand and a black obsidian dagger appeared into his hand. Now that he was dual wielding he dropped to a fighting stance and adjusted the blades so that he was holing them in a reverse fashion.

As the dust cleared he saw the thing. He didn't even know what he was looking at but to him it was wrong and didn't belong here. This thing was large to say the least. He charged the beast with some speed. 'What the hell and I doing?' He thought running up to this thing. Leon slashed at the beast with both the blades. Once passed through the beast as the other made a gash in its side. The beast turned its head toward him as Leon jumped several feet back ready for this beast to try and attack him back. "Oh god this isn't good at all." Is all he think of when seeing this beast turn its nasty head to look at him.

All six birds stopped eating the bird seed and flew to other ledges, they were watching something. Com didn't feel like looking up. It seemed there was some comotion It was probably nothing to worry about, yet all six birds are reacting, so something had to have been going on. "There's demons around here," Lloyd said in a low voice. Com barely looked up. Lloyd dropped a soccer ball he made appear using a magic trick at his feet. Com but the laptop in it's laptop bag and gave it to Lloyd, and stood up and put his foot on the ball. To think they don't even know anything about demons, but they hunt them. Lloyd whistled and held a couple stranda of sewing thread. All 6 birds grabbed a thread and flew in seperate dirrections, some even flew inside the school. They dropped threads over each demon they could find. The thread would likely fall in their hood or hair or stick to their clothes. "When do I start kicking?" Com asked. Lloyd stayed silent. Pretty much every teenager that had some fighting skill had considered themselves demon hunters, back at their school, for demon hunting was a daring, fun, dangerous, and somewhat childish game, but many teenagers did it, but obviously, demons are rare, so it's still a stupid game. Com and Lloyd took delight in this 'stupid game' too. Lloyd has trained pigeons, and animals are able to sense disturbance better than humans, like when it's about to rain.

"Say, I've been researching this place," Com mentioned, "And there are a lot of rumours, and I'm guessing that means demons are after something, however, something else happens here..." Com faultered. "Some kids were talking about Gadgets, Reeds and Gardens, buth I think it was actually Magic, Demons and Guardians, whatever that's about." "Wanna investigate?" Com asked. Lloyd was walking toward the building. Com sighed, "Please don't do the white suit thing." "Aww," Lloyd groaned. "We aren't supposed to draw attention," Com told him. "Fine, how 'bout the 'Sleeping Rose'" "Are you crazy?! Do you want to put everybody in this school to sleep?!" "Not everybody."

Lloyd walked to the croud. He pulled a scarf from out of his sleeve and put it around his neck. Com ran inside the building as fast as he could. Lloyd walked up to a girl, and offered a couple roses, that just appeared in his hand with a magic trick. Lloyd tied his scarf lightly around his mouth and nose. The flowers had a huge amount of cloroform in them, so when they openned, it would put any small crowd to sleep, however, demons don't get effected as fast. One after another, each student in the crowd, just, sort of, passed out and fell asleep. It looked painful, but at least it work harmlessly

Isabella noticed all the kids standing around. It was time for her to catch a prey. She hadn't fed on anything other than human food for about three years. She was getting a tad bit tired of it. She needed a soul, a soul of a man. A few of them were boys, boys she could use. She felt helpless, but she knew what she had to do. It was the only way to survive. Isabella stood up and started a ritual that would unleash a boy into a quick desire for her. Either one, or all of them, someone would come. She focused on her internal powers and started a chant. Her eyes quickly turned red and focused on the boys ahead. In order for it to work, they would have to notice her. She took a few steps forward and continued the chant. They wouldn't be able to tell that she was a demon because she was in human form.

Focusing, she continued. If only one of them would notice...she could feed

Because she was a succubus, men would normally lust after her and quickly pay attention. The only bad part is, she can't sense if they are a guardian or not. Even if they were, she had the confidence that her prey would be easy.

Kaze pulled up his zipper and checked his image in the mirror. He was wearing a white t-shirt with jeans and a sleeveless black hoodie. He chuckled and touched his face "...not bad for a teenager boy...this one has a great body..." Covered his head with the hood, Kaze walked out of the house. He had to avoid the sun for a small amount of time in order to get used to the shining light again. Damn! He still preferred the dark, moonless nights more. He wore a pair of sunglasses and stretched his hands. Hmm...time's to cause havoc to this pitiful world. Kaze grinned and carried his schoolbag over his shoulder. But first, time to go to school! This should be interesting...consider the fact that he had never gone to school before. Just image how many souls he could kill.

Kaze chuckled and walked to the limo. It was good to be rich! He ordered the driver curtly "...take me to school..." The driver looked surprised at the boy's change of personality. Well, it was reasonable, he guessed, considered the fact that the owner of this body was a very gentle and kind boy. Feeling his patience ran thin, Kaze snapped "...do you have hearing problems? I said took me to school, fool!..." The driver flinched and stuttered a 'yes' before shakily taking him to school. Relaxed in his seat, Kaze studied the scene in front of him. The world had changed a lot since the last time he visited it...a hundred year ago. He could sense a few other demons' scents, lingering around here like they just passed by or something. He could also sense another familiar scents - the Guardians - those goody-two-shoes he hated. Pretended to save the world, what a laugh! But he had to admit, if he could have a Guardian's body, the potential would be limitless. Their bodies had better duration than normal persons' bodies and so, he could use his power more. Just imaged...destroying the world in a body of the one that was supposed to protect this place...that would be so ironic!

He arrived to the school not five minutes after and he waited for the driver to open the car door. Walking out of it gracefully, Kaze waved his hand and said "...you're dismissed..." Not bother waiting for a reply, Kaze carried his schoolbag and walked slowly to the school, his eyes took in the whole school's scene. How the students were talking to each other. Some girls were giggling at him, some were pointing at him and blushing furiously. Kaze raised an eyebrow. Hmm...this body was popular at school, it seemed. He shrugged his shoulder and continued on his way to the class. He did not care for those weaklings. They were nothing but mere pawns, useless and good for nothing but making decoys.

He sat down on a seat in the class, bored out of his mind now. He took out his sunglasses and rested his head on his hands. Now, to wait for the class to begin...He closed his eyes, wishing that somebody would talk to him so he could study more about the human's world and how to take over this place.

"Hey you, don't go running off like that without thinking things through. Idiot's gonna get himself killed...but what was that thing he managed to call upon just now, that black shadowy thing?" Taking to his feet, Dante managed to avoid most of the falling debris from the volatile explosion which had leveled a good portion of the structure surrounding the campus, any skeptic notions Dante previously clung to had been discarded along with much of the wall. He knew that he had to act with haste or he could end up becoming prey to whatever had just claimed the wall. A hand fixing upon belt buckle, unhooking belt buckle from its fasten, he would affix the length of the belt tightly around knuckle, creating a sort of makeshift gauntlet, a resourceful one he was. The metal used in construction of the belt just so happened to be christened silver.

Dante would gesticulate the roman catholic hand single for prayer before kissing the silver plated knuckle fist. He understood that an indirect attack would most likely give him the best chance of survival. "The creature can turn to sand on command, but what if it was doused with water before that happened, wouldn't it retain some shape? sort of like a sand castle?" Dante turning sights to a nearby hydrant. Using his belt buckle as a sort of hydrant wrench, applying physical force upon the valve, straining a bit before the valve went into its first rotation, water began to disperse from the value, the valve completely loose now pumping a steady maximum flow, he would direct the hydro cannon in the monsters path, bombarding the demon with an unrelenting force of water.

Releasing waterlocked fingers from the hydrants mouth, he would work a fast sprint toward the demon. Raising a cocked fist, he brought himself off the reach of the ground, spanning the length of a field-goal line, he would bring a decisive fist-hammer into the demons jawline. Even with the reinforcement, his fist swelled a bit from comming in contact with the beasts hardy exterior. his feet planting the ground, only before skimming up a trail of earth in his wake, as the force of the impact sent him skidding back a bit.

Duranni was wandering about the campus when she saw a boy with a cut, swollen ankle that could only be resulted from a demon. Is the demon still hanging around? Do they need help? Should I held them? Duranni wondered. She hadn't openly gone against her kind before. She had done little things, such as being polite to humans, feeding her body, and not going through many bodies. To help these humans against a demon would probably have pretty big consequences.

She heard them talk about water being the demon's weakness. My element is water! I've got to help. But is it the right thing to do? Pushing aside the morality issues Duranni ran over, preparing to manipulate her element. There was already someone there with a hydrant spurting water, but she could still help.

Duranni shot condensed water from her palms and manipulated the water that was evaporating in the hot air so that it went down on the demon in the sand. She also directed some cold water of to the injured boy's ankle to cleanse it and cool it off.

Shaden smirked to herself as she sat on a small stool in the bedroom of the Chief of Police. She had found out everything she needed in one night. Humans, she thought, so weak minded. She finished combing her hair and began to think. What to do with the Chief. She put down the brush and pulled on her skinny jeans. She realized the Chief of Police wouldn't be likely to say he'd had a one night stand. Especially since he had a fiancée. She pulled her t-shirt over her head and tip-toes over to the door. The Chief's fiancée would be here soon, and Shaden would never forget the rage of the Girlfriend. Or in some cases, Wife. She pulled on her fluffy socks and then put her knee high converse all stars onto her feet. Converse all stars = the best shoes from Heaven to Hell, and everywhere in between, she thought. Shaden opened the door as quietly as she could, and walked out.

Shaden Edon hated Sun. Seriously. It might have made humans tan, but it was evil to a Shadow Demon. It bound her powers. She could still change form, but it was ridiculously weak, so it was pointless. Night was better. Easier to cause chaos. No one can see a Shadow Demon hiding. She walked through the city, striding and scanning everyone. Not many people were around, so something had to be going on. Shaden walked towards main plaza. Something seemed off. And it sure as hell wasn't the fact there was a bleeding boy on the floor. Demon's were around.

The bleeding boy was being cared for, as Shaden scanned the crowd. She hated that another Demon was here. There was the odd Demon she was friends with, but the majority had bad history. Hopefully, it would be a friend. But then again, Luck had never liked Shaden. Shaden walked around the edge of the crowd, still scanning for the Demon.

Com walked through the halls of the high school. This wasn't his school, so he got lost a lot. Of course nobody was paying attention to him. Com was looking around for anything suspicous. Possibly either demons or secret entrances. Com was sort of nervous, for if some teacher busted him for loitering on schol grounds that he didn't go to... That didn't really matter right now, he just had to figure out what exactly are "Guardians", were they just a couple of people who played the Demon Hunting Game? Com also looked around for anybody with string dropped in their hair or on their clothing, because those were demons. Of course the place was so crouded, it was rediculous.

Lloyd was shocked. He accidently put a small croud of students to sleep. "Oops," he said under his scarf. He needed to dispose of the roses, but how. Lloyd spotted a limousine. Wow, rich kids. Either way, Lloyd threw the chloroform filled flowers ontop of the limousine, before it drove away. Lloyd casually entered the school, trying to not be suspicous or anything. All of Lloyd's pigeons were ontop of the building at a safe distance away from the chemical.

Com and Lloyd met up at a spot. "Find anything?" Lloyd asked, taking off his scarf. Com almost passed out at the smell of chloroform. "Hey!" Lloyd shouted. "Uhh," Com said, getting his focus back, "No, and you didn't either, did you?" Com and Lloyd looked around. "Best we don't get involved," Lloyd suggested, "I don't want to be attacked by demons or even go to school durring vacation," Com nodded as he started walking to the nearest exit, Lloyd following him.

Lucas stared at the boy with the bleeding ankle, brow furrowed in concern. At first he was concerned, but the boy started jabbering about demons and he started to feel downright scared for the newcomer's sanity. Most people did not believe in demons... Oooor carry one of those! he thought frantically as the boy pulled out a Chinese sword and passed it to Leon. Lucas started to back away from the boy, but behind him the wall began to crack. He whipped around, staring at the quickly crumbling stone. Whatever had been chasing the boy – be it a demon or a tank – was clearly coming through to get him. Lucas had no idea what was happening, but the strange boy was hurt, and Lucas was not about to abandon him.

Irrationally, as the wall crumbled, Lucas turned himself so that he was standing between the boy and his pursuer. The cloud of dust cleared, and his eyes widened.
“Holy fuck, it is a demon,” he hissed, his back going stiff with shock. He had never seen a demon before, but there was nothing else that this thing could be. It looked like some sick cross between a hyena and a coyote, with far too many teeth for either. Such a creature could not have existed in the world where Lucas had been born.
At least, so he had thought.
__________________________

Distracted by the arrival of the bleeding boy, Cassandra did not, at first, realize that the other demon was there. When James started to chatter about it, however, he felt the presence of the other, and realized that he could hear the creature scrambling up the wall. It irked him a little. He really did want to play with this new human, but the silly little dog on the wall was going to interrupt him before he had the chance. Ah, well, he could find a way to twist this to his advantage.

For instance, impersonating one of these Guardian children that the newcomer seemed to be seeking. Cassandra was confident that in his human skin he would not be recognized – he was quite firmly planted in his host body. He seized the opportunity when it was presented, to entertain himself and destroy a Guardian child in one swift blow. Or rather, not so slow. He would have to gain the boy’s trust before he could reveal himself and break it.

As the wall crumbled behind Cassandra, he sprang back with a cry of shock that more than passed as human terror. As he ran, seemingly triggered by the sudden blast of emotion – but in truth completely planned – bolts of electricity shot from his palms to blacken the ground around his feet. Unrecognizable as a demon and capable of controlling an element, there was only one conclusion that anyone who knew about demons could reach.
Cassandra slipped, his expression perfectly frightened, into the role of the unwary Guardian boy.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Alright, since I couldn't keep track of who's playing, here's the revamped version:

roleplay/guardians-facing-the-darkness/

I hope we all have fun with this. :)

Sorry for having to start over. For the latest one, I think we'll start out in the Sanctuary.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

I understand. And I will try to PM everyone.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Just wanted to throw this out there: my post will be coming sometime tomorrow morning. I have to wrote... just have to type it. Classes ran late today and social stuff, Tuesdays are normally like that. So post coming tomorrow. Just wanted to let ya'll know.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Uh... have you tried pming them? Asides of those of us who are here.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

I don't know. We were inactive for a couple days because I was busy one weekend and then only a few people post.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Enya Seaborne by AvengerSpirit. Post coming later today.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Hm, I think we should do a roll call. I haven't heard from a few people lately. Is everyone here?

James Kaden played by almostinsane is here, obviously.

@Calyx: There might be a space open. I don't know. Haven't seen a demon in action so we could be open for one of them. Or a guardian. Or both if you wish.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Hello, almostinsane, if someone did drop out may i replace them, i'll do my best and create an awesome and skilled guardian character.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

No, but I think someone may have dropped in this time, so maybe I could accept one more.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Is there still a spot open? If so I would like to play as a Guardian aligned to Death

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Yeah. The first site I was on went down the drain so did the second, though its still running. The quality sucks. And the third one I've had over the years was taken down because the owner didn't want to renew it. I was going insane without my stress relief. My post will be up soon, by the way.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Ah, I see. I got here the same way.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

I don't know. They just don't show up, at least last night they didn't. I think I have it figured out now. I really do hate having to learn new systems, but I desperately needed a new site.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Thanks. Yeah, college sucks. Hmm... What happens when you try to post?

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Its fine (though for some reason my posts haven't been showing up, gr...). I just wanted to make sure. I understand completely. College sucks.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Sorry. I simply haven't been on for awhile. I was kept busy with studying and tests, but I have free time now. I'll have the timeskip up soon.

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Is this dead now? I submitted my profile but I haven't heard anything back... Should I be worried or has the GM just not been on in a while?

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

thats probably a good idea.. lol

Re: [OOC] Guardians: Out of Darkness

Hm, is anyone up to a timeskip of them finding the Sanctuary?
