Megan and Mag are twin sisters, and Megan looks up to her brother, Bennie. After Mildred went missing, Severus was left to raise the three of them alone. He knew that Voldemort wasn't really gone, and that he still had enemies out there who would hunt him and his children down if they even knew he had kids. He vowed to protect them. What he had to do was act in public like they didn't exist. It wasn't difficult at first. He'd have a house elf babysit them while he taught classes, and would be with them after he was finished with his duties. But when the three of them were older they wanted to play outside all the time, and so he had Mildred's parents look after them.
