Introduction
There are roles to have: Heroes and Apprentices.
Shaman: The shaman is known to be a drunkard and a pervert. Yet the shaman is one of the more powerful heroes. His weapons are his fists, a feather and parchment. He can summon his primal (an animal guardian) and shapeshift to his primal and to the other gender. The shaman only takes an apprentice of the opposite gender as it is tradition. Beware of the shamans strength and his paralysis spell.
Shaman (m)- played by Aniihya
Shaman apprentice (f) - played by Makenna Young
The Ramen Cook: The Ramen Cook is not some normal job when it comes to this hero. He can turn any pair of good quality chopsticks into a lethal weapon. His skills are making noodles and putting people in pain with his chopsticks. Part of training is at home at the cooks place and part of it is in the cooks small noodle shack that offers space for eight customers.
Ramen Cook (m/f) -
Ramen Cook apprentice -
The Butcher: The butcher is a cleaver wielding fighter who prepares meat when he is not fighting. Even though many think he might be a blood lusty psychopath, butchers have in their history been kind and social people. The butcher mostly uses a meathook and a cleaver to fight. Like the shaman, the butcher has a high physical strength.
Butcher (m/f) -
Butcher apprentice -
The Shrine maiden: The shrine maiden is a supportive role and works as a healer and can summon magical shields. In personality at work she is fair, elegant and kind, yet in private or off the job she is very similar to the shaman. No wonder why they often team up. The shrine maiden uses a bow in case she needs to fight.
Shrine maiden (f) - played by Aniihya
Shrine maiden apprentice (f) - played by RurouniBishi
All of these character regularly meet at the Ramen Cooks noodle shack. All of these can be stronger than their famous counterparts.
Place of setting: Asano, Norikata. Asano is a city of 200,000 that is surrounded by mountains. It is a two hour train ride to the capital on the coast in the west. To the eastern coast it is an hour by train. Small villages surround Asano and are found partially in the mountains. Some villages are reachable by train while the rest are connected by paved roads.
Asano itself is a city with houses and high rises (up to 20 floors). Partially houses stand next to the highrises. There are often restaurants, shops or convinience stores on the bottom floor of the highrises. Each area has a temple and a shrine, totalling 62 within Asano. Nowadays much magic has been replaced with electricity and most common folk have lost knowledge of practicing magics. The older folk and most heroes still use magic. In the villages younger folk still have some knowledge of magic. Warriors mostly now use motor vehicles as transportation while healers sometimes use cars or horses. Many poorer heroes can be found riding bears, oxes or large wolves or simply walking.

A memory shot through Kana's head. Last time he said that, he "took her out" with a kiss. It had worked as it effectively shut her up and she daydreamed for the rest of the time. Kana held her mouth. Rather she would be quiet than be embarassed.
"The warrior's choice is Kawashima Fu! The marksman's choice is Andoyama Kairi! And the healer chooses Shibayama Ai!" The announcer said. It wasn't a surprise that two of the three new apprentices were rich kids. It wasn't like average people had much of a chance anyways.
"Speaking of which. Kana do you want an apprentice. I personally gave it much though and according to tradition I need to have at least one apprentice of the other gender. But for shamans, the gender has to be opposite." Ryu said. Kana nodded: "An apprentice would be great. It can't be just us two forever. Plus it would be fun!" She started getting all hyped up. "Let's sort of pose again a wall while the viewers are leaving."
Five minutes later, the two seemed kind of goofy and embarassing with Ryu leaning against a wall trying to look badass while Kana made all sorts of weird poses. "A shaman and a shrine maiden looking for apprentices here!" Kana yelled. One man stopped and said: "Look at the jugs on her!" Suddenly Kana tensed up. "I am not taking someone who compliments my bust as an apprentice." "That's right and if you touch her, then I will shape you like a pretzel." Ryu said. The men backed up, not because of the threat but because the way Ryu said it. It came out of him with a calm voice, a smile and self-confidence.
With a sigh, Tsubasa followed her brother as they made to leave the area. She'd have to find another hero looking for an apprentice, or just become a hero on her own like her brother was going to do. She paused, causing someone to bump into her when she heard someone saying that they were looking for apprentices. Shrine Maiden? Her brother pulled her off to the side while she thought. What was Shrine Maiden known for? Then she remembered, healing, support, and archery. The three things that Tsubasa was capable of. She looked around and spotted a homeless looking guy and a girl who looked like a shine maiden making poses on the wall opposite of them. Tsubasa looked at her brother, who knew what she was thinking. "I'll wait here for you. Good luck."
With a nod Tsubasa shoved her way through the crowd, nearly punching somebody in the face when they groped her breasts. She made it through the crowd and stood in front of the woman. "Did you say you were looking for an apprentice? Well then I would like to apply." She made sure she sounded confident when she spoke.

Jaw set, Mai storms away from the proceedings, her parents in tow. But she wouldn't turn. She daren't give them that satisfaction, the satisfaction of knowing they've gotten to her. In all honesty, she's not sure why they're still upset. It had been a while ago that she had refused to try out for an apprenticeship, the one thing Ai and Lu had dreamnt for her. Too bad. They had lost their parenting rights when they had condemned her to the wilderness against her will.
"Mai! You better listen or else-"
Fuming, Mai unsheathes the dagger at her waist, turning on her heel to face her parents. "Let me be! I want nothing to do with you, nor them." She nods towards the three heroes. "A lion consumed the dreams I once had!" She indicates to the scar that mars the right side of her face. "A lion you condemned me to! Now, let me be!"
Ai and Lu, Mai is pleased to see, stay rooted in place, jaws dropped in sheer shock and disbelief. She smirks contentedly, leaving the procession as people star her way, lion's paw bouncing against her chest. Now what? She's need to do something with her life, but she had been trained solely to fight. That's when she hears it.
"A shaman and a shrine maiden looking for apprentices here!"
Mai freezes in place, calling to her mind the purposes of these heroes. Shrine Maiden is a bit - ah - unconventional for her abilities, but Shaman? Why not? It would be something to do, and in a way, she'd still be fulfilling her dreams.
Sheathing her dagger, hair flowing out behind her, Mai makes her way over to the pair of oddball-looking heroes, surprised to see another young lady conversing with them already. All the same, she doesn't even look at the girl or the Shrine Maiden as she steps over to join the group, face impassive, hoping her parents are watching and crying out in shock.
She stops right in front of the man, maintaining eye contact determinedly. "I wish to apply for Shaman's apprentice." She speaks without emotion, absentmindedly running the fingers onher right hand through her hair, exposing her scar without realizing it.
Tsubasa opened her mouth to thank the man when he mentioned that her costume was nice. But quickly shut it and began to turn red from embarrassment as she discovered that he was a pervert. And could turn into a women. Which was very interesting and something that she almost wanted to ask him about. But judging from the way the two acted, she would be seeing him often and would probably see it eventually.
When another girl came up and said she wanted to apply to be the man's apprentice, Tsubasa nodded to her. She wondered how many other people would apply to these two, and how much of a chance she actually had at getting a spot. She glanced back at her brother who was still standing there waiting for her. He smiled and she smiled back, his smile boosted her confidence a little bit. Like it always did.

Kana then thought about the information she received from her applicant. "I see. If you don't know healing magic, I can get you up to level, no matter how unskilled you are."
"You understand that becoming a shaman isn't simple right? You need lots of physical strength as well as skill in magic. I expect you to bend steel girders with your bare hands and catch a blade at the end of your apprenticeship. You also need to be able to sense spirits, banish them, summon a primal and turn into the other gender. It is the way of the shaman. My master showed be how to do everything and she may have been a bigger pervert herself than I and it might reflect on you too. We will visit her in two days for you to find your primal." Ryu said to the applicant. "Keep an eye out for Maraka's apprentice and do not be intimidated by him. He must should you respect before you can accept his challenge."
"There you are you damn shaman! No matter if you are in male or female form, I know your face!" A male voice said. It was Maraka. Ryu chuckled and said: "You hothead. I wouldn't challenge me if I were you. It will only bring embarassment." Maraka pulled his blade and swing it towards Ryu who caught it with only two fingers. "I told you. Now do you want to spend another hours trying to get your sword out of the ground, because I will not fight you." Ryu said. Maraka got pissed and said: "Shut up!" trying to pull his sword from Ryu's grip. Ryu then planted the blade in the ground. "I warned you." He said. "You may be popular, but there are far better warriors out there. Your master would have been disappointed. Guys, let's go somewhere else. Maybe my home or the shrine."
"With all due respect, Sir, I've been through a lot in my short time in this world," she speaks in her signature monotone, the very emotionless voice her parents had raised her to use. ("Emotion is weakness," Lu had said impassively. "Avoid weakness at all costs, lest you fail each of your endevours.") "I am as physically fit as can be and can use next to any weaponry. While I am afraid I can say nothing in terms of steel girders, sensory, and the likes, I am willing to put forth as much effort as necessary to learn." She smiles an emotionless smile. "I don't easily give up, and enjoy a good challenge. Assuming I am told beforehand of any challenges." She glances down at the lion's paw around her neck as Maraka stroms toward Ryu.
Mai pays little attention to the interaction between the two men, though she can't help but be impressed when Ryu catched the blade between his fingers. After that, she glances toward the two women - one about her age, one certainly older. Mai offers an emotionless smile to the younger girl, a short nod to the elder as she steps back to join them. When Ryu turns and asks the question, she just shrugs to display concession, not wanting to waste a word.
The fact that he was an asshole. And certainly spoiled at some point in his life. She wondered if the other two were the same, and was suddenly glad that she hadn't been chosen. She watched the conflict between the shaman and the swordsman and found herself impressed by the perverted man. Though she certainly didn't trust him. At all.
When the shaman mentioned going to his house or the shrine, she focused her attention from the struggling swordsman to the pervert. The shrine in the area was the one near her house. Had she seen the shrine maiden there before in all her years going there? She glanced back over at her brother to see that he was still waiting there, and signaled to him that he could go home. He smiled and left with a wave.
Tsubasa knew that she did not want to be in the perverted man's house. So she decided it would be best to speak up about it. "I would be more comfortable with the shrine, to be honest."

"So who are you two? You understand that the apprenticeship isn't a piece of cake. For shaman you will need to lift a lot, workout, meditate and practice spells. Shrine maidens have to practice archery and spells most of the time."
Mai nods toward Ryu impassively. "I am Mai, Mai Tukiko. Believe me, I have been training my entire life to join one of those," she nods toward the three higher heroes, "but decided against pursuing their apprenticeships for, ah, personal reasons. My prents do not approve of the path I have chosen to take, but it matters not to me." She silently hopes that none of the others will press the issue lest she enlist herself on a well-rehearsed rant.

"This is my home." Kana said in a sweet voice. The house was more in a traditional style and only contained one floor with a courtyard at its center. "My room is next to the guest room and the guest room is similar to the guest room at Ryu's place just with tatami mats. There is a pathway from the house over to the shrine. Please only wear socks within the house or you may suffer from punishment. For normal shrine work you will be given clothes while your choice of clothes can be made during training. Every Friday, we will train together and then head over to the noodle place afterwards."
