Description

Real Name Jake Elsworth
Alias Deadeye
Age 28
Role Anti-Hero

Powers - Deadeye posses three special powers.

1. Deadly accuracy with any form of projectile weapon - This is especially true with regard to thrown weapons. He does not tend to miss with thrown weapons. He can turn any hand-held object that is reasonably aerodynamic into a thrown weapon. He is also an expert marksman and archer.

2. Heightened agility and reflexes - Deadeye’s reactions are much more immediate than a typical man’s allowing him to dodge blows in close quarters combat and, with a bit of distance, even bullets.

3. Unusual stamina - Deadeye can function at his physical peak for fairly long stretches of time without great fatigue. He also recovers his strength very quickly after becoming exhausted. A side effect of this is that he requires very little sleep.

Weaknesses
While Deadeye’s reactions are much quicker than a normal man’s and although he can maintain a much higher than normal degree of activity without tiring, he has no special defense against those things which affect all humans. Deadeye has very few friends and/or allies as he is not prone to trusting others nor to asking for help. His vigilante actions have made him an enemy of the criminal elements while his willingness to injure criminals places him at odds with the justice system.

Abilities/Skills
Deadeye is a former undercover police officer and he was very good at his job. He is skilled in disguising himself and fitting in with a wide variety of groups and settings. He knows the workings of the Roleplay City police force from the inside and still has a few close friends on the police force. As a result of his police training he is also a very good driver (he prefers to use a motorcycle) and skilled in a number of investigative techniques. While he is skilled in hand to hand combat, his great strength in this regard is the way his heightened reflexes allow him to dodge and avoid the attacks of an opponent. He will tend to avoid close combat and use his agility to place himself at a bit of distance from an opponent where he can use his accuracy with projectiles to great effect. He has no qualms about injuring a criminal opponent and has taken great pains to learn how to target his thrown weapons to painfully disarm or disable such opponents.

Equipment

Weapons
Deadeye wears a pair of bandoliers that hold throwing knives. In pouches on his belt he carries two hard rubber balls that are often used for stunning opponents and a handful of superballs (the small rubber balls that bounce really high) and several large marbles. He also carries a special modified policeman’s nightstick and a semi-automatic pistol. He prefers not to use the gun. He keeps a variety of other weapons in his safehouse.

Costume
Deadeye wears a black mask that covers his head completely. The mask has special ear pieces that enhance his ability to perceive sounds. He wears a black bodysuit that is designed not to impede his movement. Over this he typically wears a long and light weight black leather coat.

History

Jake Elsworth is a former member of the Roleplay City Police Department. During an undercover investigation, he and his partner were captured by a dissident member of the Flamers who had broken off from the main gang and was bankrolling the synthesis of a variant of the Dictionary-Verse drug. Both men were injected with the variant drug as human guinea pigs. The effects were painful and his partner’s heart burst as a result of the strain the drug produced within his body. Jake fell unconscious and exhibited no obvious physical changes. Believing the experiment a failure and the police officer incapacitated, the criminal and his gang debated what to do with a dead cop and a captured cop. Jake, however, recovered surprisingly quickly and, acting purely on instinct and rage, grabbed whatever was near at hand and began throwing. Before long, 2 gang members were dead, the others seriously wounded and the Flamer blind in both eyes. His partner was accorded a hero’s funeral, but the way the rest of the case was handled smacked of a large scale cover up. Disgusted, Jake quit the force. Disillusioned by the workings of the justice system, he has dedicated himself to waging a personal war, as the vigilante Deadeye, upon the criminal element of the city.
