Unfortunately, the prosperity didn???t last long. When the Depression of the 1990's hit RolePlay City, no area was affected more. Factories shut down, many workers were laid off, and a great deal of the crime sweeping through the city was centered in the row of closed-down factories. The crime bosses who set themselves up there took on the name of the district.
They became known throughout the city as The Qupies.
For a time, Queens Landing became a place to avoid. It was dark, dirty, and struck fear into the hearts of upright RolePlay citizens.
When Ace Darkfire began his ???war on crime??? and formed the Gateway Champions, he focused a great deal of his efforts on bringing down the Qupies. Eventually, the Gateway Champions triumphed over the Qupies, but the cost was high.
There was some damage to the physical area, but of greater effect is the long-term damage done to the reputation of Queens Landing. Even after the economy recovered, the stigma of Queens Landing remained. The Qupies are long gone but the name has remained and to this day, the area is regarded as a grimy place with a reputation for seediness.
Present day Queens Landing connects north to Juarez Park, East to Tower City, and West to Freedom Port. RolePlay City's extensive Undercity also sprawl beneath Queens Landing. Although the area is still generally run-down, it has seen much more activity lately -- and not all of it good. Part of that comes from the fact that the area has become a popular location for raves, drawing in more of RolePlay City's teen crowd.
Yet the primary reason for the surge of activity in Queens Landing is due to the arrival of a gang called the l33ts p3ak. The l33t sp3ak have been in RolePlay City for some time, but they have only recently set up shop for good in the Landing, going so far as to clean up the streets a bit by attacking God-Mod gangsters whenever they see them.
The l33t sp3ak's first order of business seems to be waging a war on the One-liners, a gang from Remaeus Park. Nearby Juarez Park has become the battleground for this gang war where both sides seem to have backing from more powerful organizations. By using it as a home base of sorts, the l33t sp3ak appear to be taking Queens Landing back in time and threaten to turn it into crime central once again.

Jace stood floating in midair with his eyes closed. He was in his apartment and he was focused. Anyone who entered could sense the energy in the air. Jace was focusing on reading everyones minds at once. He hears many thoughts. A lesser being would have been insane by now. Even Jace was having trouble keeping his mind. This was how he found danger when patrolling didnt suit him. He focused on specific thoughts. Thoughts leading to pain, murder, theft. He focused. One mind drew his attention more then the others. Jace opened his eyes and stood up. Glancing to the wall he floated over and thru it. THe person was in Juarez Park. ANd he was a strong person. Violence not for the sake of violence but for money. THis puzzled Jace.
He flew toward the park with just his own thoughts in his head. This villain was destroying for money. Someone was paying him to do it. But who? Jace shook his head he couldnt get a bead on that he heard no name in the things head. Maybe he didnt know it. Jace decided to wait and ask questions after he stopped the rampage. Jace sped up to the park.

Deep in the gloom of his warehouse sanctuary, Dr. Wolfram watched the news feeds as they continued broadcasting up to the satellites. A cruel smile crossed his lips as he eased back in his chair. With the city in darkness, striking at the hour it did, the police and heroes would be hard pressed to contain the surge of violence surely to occur. Even as the energy dissipated and drained on the bock the massive industrial generators kicked in.
Standing easily the black clad man narrowed his eyes. Tonight would be a good night. “Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war…” he muttered even as his phone rang. Eying the number a moment as it rang again before he answered. “Yes…yes I understand. I shall do that…thank you.” Exhaling he bowed is shoulders a moment before grabbing his top coat and cane. Who ever his mysterious benefactor was he was nothing if not skilled. The power outage would allow him to slip into the Hall of Heroes. Whistling easily the villain known as Dr. Wolfram jaunted through the increasing chaos whistling a haunting tune.
Slowly winding his way through the crowd Dr. Wolfram reached the designated spot, a moment later a large black sedan rolled by. As it stopped to make the turn the door opened and a voice beckoned the dapper villain into the darkened interior. Smiling, Dr. Wolfram eased into car then before the door closed it sped away. Seated next to him a very large man with strange eyes stared back at him.
“Doctor…” the man said, Wolfram detected a slight purr to the voice, “We want to employ your skills to retrieve an item stored in the Hall of Heroes.” Nodding Wolfram glanced out at the stopped traffic as the car whipped around the stopped vehicles. “I understand, I believe that I can retrieve the item you seek.” Eying the man, it was a bit unsettling as the man smiled a very Cheshire grin, replete with gleaming teeth. Wolfram cleared his throat, “Obtaining the Energy Ankh will be difficult even with the power outage the Hall of Heroes has its own generators and a dozen or so police officers and heroes at any one time.”
“Yes we are aware of that, our employer has made arraignments.” Reaching into a satchel the large man pulled a pair of night vision goggles out. “You will need these once we drop you off, wait until the power goes before you enter.” Nodding Dr. Wolfram took the goggles then felt the car slow and stop. Looking out the window a minute, he eased out and said slowly, “I’ll be waiting for your distraction.”
In the car the man let loose a odd laughter, it made the hair on the god doctors neck rise. “Be ready…” With that the sedan sped off into the dark, the last sight the rear lights glowing angrily as it whipped around the corner. Glancing at the large fortress like structure known as the Hall of Heroes, Dr. Wolfram inhaled and stepped into the shadows, forming a shield before him he waited until the lights flickered then faded around the large building. Donning his goggles he chuckled, “Into the gates of hell…”

I hear you, I have been busy with work as well and while I can pop in to check the boards and do some Admin stuff I have been unable to sit down and properly post anything for my role-plays. I should be in a more lax state next week and can devote the attention needed.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
This is just a quick note to say that life is looking to be keeping me from finishing up my next couple posts for a few days yet. I was on the road every day this last week and will be traveling again for work through the weekend. With a bit of luck, my schedule should lighten up a bit come Monday and I'll be able to move things along with Deadeye.
Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Feel free to post. There's a lot going on in the City. Well with all these characters I hope more stories take place than Deadeye and General Freedom...such a large city with so much potential, I'd hate to see to go to waste.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Alrighty, I got Overload in there :). If she shows up, does that mean I'm clear to post, or do we get the ok directly from you?
Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Howdy Kohananinja, yes you can use the same character, just place it in the character hopper for approval. If you are using the same character as last time, I thought she was a great character and had a lot of potential. With the new system and all the locations inked I think we can create some great role-plays.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Hi Skallagrim, utterly thrilled to see this back again! Do you need us to re summit our characters here, to you by PM, or are we clear to post if said characters were accepted in the last one?
Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Edelle, nice to have you join this role-play. So far Whysper and I have been carrying it but I am looking forward to having Monster be an active hero in the RPGCity. If you have been keeping up the same beginning with the scarab beetles.
Deadeye is dealing with the criminals trying to hit the Newsstand and the assault that occurred at the Hall of Heroes where something important was taken. Are things occurring concurrently with the nastiness at the IDE.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
I love that story for introduction of Deadeye. I have added a new location, the Hall of Heroes where villains are taken for processing. It is also a place for heroes to meet each other logically instead of in a random haphazard manner.
I have just about finished the General Freedom story introduction and will spin that off to other things once I finish it. Also the power is now going out city wide so that can offer new opportunities for hero/villain and hero/hero interactions.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
With my most recent post I've finished carrying over the bank robbery story that I had used to establish certain aspects of the Deadeye character in the previous game. With the reboot of the game, I'll be looking to spin off of this in a bit of a different way than I had originally planned. For the moment, at least, the character is now freed up for possible interaction with others in the Remaeus Park area of the game.

Thanks for the kind words, Culex.
RPs losing steam and simply dying on the vine is one of the more frustrating features of online gaming - especially when the game itself is very promising. We'll just have to see about making sure we maintain some solid activity in that case as this game has a lot of potential.
Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Like any role-play it requires the people involved to be active and have a desire to see the role-play continue to grow and expand.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Well met, everyone!
Skallagrim,
I copied the profile of the Deadeye character that I played in the previous incarnation of the game over to this version. I'm still trying to find my way around the new Roleplay feature, so I'm hoping that I did this correctly. As I try and write the character into the action by all means do not hesitate to point out anything that I need to adjust so that things do not become out of sync with any new directions you have chosen for the game. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where things go.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
Yes you can, this is an open universe with the only limit on respecting other peoples IP and no god like entities. Make a new character and submit the bio to me.
I hope everyone gets into this RP and helps to bring it to life.

Heya Skall. Is it cool if I make another character at some point? I mean, I'm liking mine and I can't wait for this RP to get deeper, but if I feel as though I need to make another may I?
Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
NPC Villains and Heroes for HRPC: You may use these in your storylines, however refrain from killing them as they inhabit the city as well. You may also make your own NPC heroes or villains and add them to this roster. Just follow the template outlined below.

Re: [OOC] Heroes of RolePlay City
I have one major rule and that is no killing of someone's named creations unless you get their expressed permission.
Nameless goons and thugs can be used as cannon fodder all you want. However named villains or named organizations cannot be destroyed or killed. Respect other peoples work and intellectual property and we will do the same to yours.
Also treat this as a DC/Marvel/Dark Horse type of universe where the fights that happen are better when the villains pound the crap outta the heroes sometimes. Also feel free to establish alternate identities for your heroes and families or occupations and love interests. Make this role-play breathe life.
