Introduction

1880 of an alternate timeline. Hope Asylum was established about 10 years ago for young people in the city of Eterna to go to if they suffer from a mental illness. It offers psychological support but also serves as a school for those who are still in school. The bright color of the building and its well looking interior makes it seem as if it were a great place to rehabilitate. The headmistress and her assistant seem to be nice people too. But that is only a facade that hides the evil and horror behind the place. Patients are used as guinea pigs for the headmistress' twisted experiments, mostly having something to do with mechanical prosthetics and similar things. Mostly people make the mistake of trusting the headmistress' female assistant because she can hide her twisted personality better. The patients have to find a way to get out because the police wont believe lunatics.

Headmistress: The head mistress is a seemly friendly person but has a sick love for mechanics and will use the patients as test subjects. She doesnt look like it but her body is almost completely mechanical.

Assistant: The assistant is a young woman who came to the Asylum a couple years ago. She shares the same interests as the headmistress but can at least keep her cool and stay calm although her thoughts are otherwise.

The Asylum: The Asylum is a two story building with separate sleeping cells for the patients, barred windows, a dining hall, classrooms, therapy rooms, a lobby, a recreational room, a detention cell and a fenced courtyard. For those in need of education subjects are Maths, Literature, Arts, Sports, Mechanics, Sciences, Biology and Music.

Punishment: Normally if a patient doesnt behave they get medication and the detention cell while wearing a straitjacket. Otherwise they get torment in the musty cellar where the headmistress replaces their limbs with mechanical prosthetics. Those who have prosthetics normally get their prosthetics detached and left in their sleeping cell until punishment is over. The worst case is if their head is attached to a mechanical body, then their head is removed an put into a dark box. They wont die because of the technology.

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

I know my way around steampunk fine. I was just curious if things would make sense, besides the whole 'fiction' thing. Thanks for clarifying.

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

I don't think there were asylums in the 1880s- all the crazies were put in prison, usually chained to a wall.

That aside, I'm making a character! :D

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

well it might take a bit anyway until it starts since I am going away for a week.

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

Um...I don't think we're getting anywhere with characters...

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

NotSoHeartless: Do you not know steampunk. In steampunk which plays around that time, those things could be possible. It doesnt always need to be realistic since steampunk is fiction. This RP is fiction in genre. Surviving without a head is one of the few abilities possible with the mechanical parts but only if the neck part is mechanical making it not possible to bleed to death because of separation, also having the body breath idly while the head is separated and eventually the possibility to move the body via soul/wireless connection/telepathy. My character has her utensils in her hands for example. That is a possibility too but only if you arent a patient excluding pens or erasers or so.

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

I created a character I hope you like her!

Re: [OOC] Hope Asylum for Young People

This RP sounds very interesting. But, being able to survive as only a head is what caught my attention. Is the RP going to be realisitic or are characters going to be allowed 'abilities' do to their mechanical parts? I'm assuming the parts aren't that spectacular due to the timeline.
