Introduction

-Transmission Begin-

You are a group of Inquisitorial Acolytes. Perhaps you were once an Imperial Guardsman, drafted from the front lines after a special ops mission. Or, maybe you were once a Hive criminal, killing and looting in one of the innumerable city-planets in the Imperium of Man. You may have been an Adeptus Arbite - one of the Imperium watch-force, always vigilant for signs of succession. You may even be one of the Callixus Assassins, drawn into this work by a previous hire.

Whatever you were before, it does not matter now. What matters now is that you work for me. I am Inquisitor-Lord Tyburn Graves, and it is my job to hold back the multitude of dark horros that threaten humanity on a daily basis. I am, however, indisposed of at the moment, so I leave this mission to you.

You are to board the trade-hauler Brazen Sky, and proceed to the frontier world of Iocanthos. The Inquisition has received word of paranormal, and perhaps demonic, activity that grows in intensity as the completion of Stern Hope, a cathedral of strategic and theological importance, draws near. After traveling on the Brazen Sky, you are to meet with a Senior Imperial Agent, Aristarchus the Seer in the spaceport of Port Suffering. The Seer will guide you to Stern Hope, and perhaps his psychic abilities will aid you. If you need aid, another Inquisitor, Isidor Druth, is currently en route, and should arrive shortly after you. Isidor is an old friend of mine, and will be happy to lend any assistance.

I have faith in you. All equipment will be provided as necessary. Go forth, and let the Emperor's light guide you.

As far as ships go, the Brazen Sky is hardly luxurious, but it is in good repair and and is a sizable vessel. Unfortunately, it's not ideal for passengers - offering one rusty-walled open crew bay with lumpy cots, mismatched fittings and flickering glow-lamps that sometimes wink out for days at a time before coming back to life.

Meals are offered in the ship's galley, where you rub shoulders with ratings and engineers. But you are mostly segregated off and roundly ignored. Further, you have no freedom to move around the ships, and you must deal with Sebek, a purser who promises "goodies from the grey market".

Then there's the noise. The constant grinding sounds of mechanical parts that may or not be working, screeching behind the plas-steel plating, is enough to drive a person mad.

The transit to Iocanthos will take 3 days at best, so finding out more about your destination, and about your fellow Acolytes, may be time well spent.
