Introduction

-=BACKGROUND=-

In the year 2995, scientists have begun researching on the possibility of creating a perpetual energy source. The project was dubbed as the 4th Energy Project and scientists from all over the world put their heads together to make it a reality. Country leaders all over the globe approved of this venture and invested heavily on the project, further accelerating its already quick development. This was due to the fact that old energy sources like fossil fuel and nuclear energy can no longer satisfy the power needs of the world.

The research met several dead ends but as if by miracle, they finally unlocked the secrets of the 4th Energy and the first perpetual energy power core was created in 2999. The power core was taken to Japan for testing and it worked like a charm. However, something went wrong with the core and a meltdown ensued. The 4th energy core released a tremendous wave of energy that was powerful enough to scramble the atoms of every living being in the earth. Many did not survive this wave and was reduced to primordial ooze. Those who survived though had their genetic makeup completely rearranged and are now divided into two classes: The SILHOUETTES and the MIRAGES.

Silhouettes have a blue-themed appearance, usually sporting azure clothing or having blue hair. In terms of personality they are tame, secretive, and calculating and rely on their sharp minds to get things done. They think very logically and refuse to embrace something without concrete proof. Silhouettes are very smart and knowledgeable as evident by their technological superiority. However, their inherent powers are not as potent as Mirages so most of them incorporate technology to boost their powers. Their capital city is the futuristic metropolis of Sodom.

ImageImage

Mirages can be recognized by their red-themed appearance. Unlike their counterparts, Mirages are more lively, boisterous, and impulsive. They rely on their gut and their own strength to come through in the end, rarely considering if the outcome will be bad or not. They believe what is in their heart and grasp ideas even if there is no clear evidence of their existence. They are not so advanced with their technology but they do possess greater physical strength and are able to manifest more devastating powers. However they lack the wisdom and knowledge possessed by the Silhouettes. Their capital city is the shining utopia of Gomorrah.

ImageImage

Being polar opposites, Silhouettes and Mirages have developed a distaste for each other, leading both factions to declare war. Countless battles between them have scarred the world permanently, and the complete destruction of earth seems imminent. However, hope still exists in the form of Truths.

Only two Truths exist in this world and both are currently in stasis (NOTE: They will be activated at the start of the RP). One Truth manifests both qualities of Silhouettes and Mirages while the other manifests neither. It is unknown why they exist but they serve one important function: to travel to the point of origin (aka Japan or EDO-00 as it is currently called) reset the world to the way it was before the core had a meltdown. Along with their creation, this information has been programmed into their memories.

-=STORY PLOT=-

As the war between the Silhouettes and the Mirages nears its climax, the GABRIEL system of the 4th Energy core awakens the Truths to fulfill their mission. However, an error occurs during their activation and 95% of all Silhouettes and Mirages will see the Truths as enemies and seek to destroy them. The error also causes the two Truths to develop their own consciousness. One of them chooses to fulfill their mission while the other seeks to find out a greater purpose.

The RP's plot will be divided into two sub-plots but all of them will mesh together at some point on the story. These sub-plots are:

A. The Truth I know
- This story will focus on the Truth that chooses to fulfill the mission he/she has been created for. He/She will travel from Point 01 (the place where the two Truths were stored in stasis) to Point 0 (Japan). He/She will most likely pass by Gomorrah and Sodom. Additional plot details will only be revelaed to the person playing Truth A.

B. The Truth is out there - This story will focus on the Truth that abandons his mission in search of a greater purpose. During his travels, he/she will meet one of the leaders of one the factions and learn of their goal to become the sole rulers of the world. This inspires the Truth to also aspire in becoming the ruler of everything and he/she sets out in the path to godhood. Additional plot details will only be revealed to the person playing Truth B.

"*huff huff* I must... *pant* hurry!" gasped Oz, a messenger from the city of Pandemonium. An attack was launched in the city which had removed it from the map... all accomplished by one person. It was news worth telling to the High Samaritan.

The messenger dashed through the massive winding halls of the grand ziggurat of Gomorrah where the most powerful Mirage resided. Not many were granted an audience to him, including Oz who was immediately blocked by the templars that guarded the prayer hall. The messenger struggled to get in but was pushed back by the guards and threatened by their weapons.

"Who are you? What is your business with the High Samaritan?" asked one of the templars in a challenging tone.

"I-I have grave news from Pandemonium! I must speak to him immediately! Please!" demanded Oz.

"Nonsense! If you must speak with the High Samaritan, then you must wait until an audience is available for--"

Suddenly, the doors to the prayer hall began to part, bright sunlight pouring out from the growing gap between the two golden doors. The silhouette of a person can clearly be seen from within and upon recognizing said person, the templars drop to their knees in respect. Oz too knelt down and hung his head, knowing all too well that they were now in the presence of the High Samaritan. As the light evened out, the skinny form of Hot Pants came into vision, a smug and slightly irked expression in his deathly pale face.

"Now now, what's the cause of all the hubbub here?" groaned the man, sticking his ring finger into his ear and picking to his heart's content.

"This man from Pandemonium... he seeks your audience, your grace." responded one of the templars.

"He is huh? Send him in..." replied Hot Pants before flicking away whatever mass he had managed to dislodged from his ear and returning inside the prayer hall.

Oz quickly stood up and followed the High Samaritan inside. He was at awe at the sheer size of the room. It looked more like a coliseum than a room of prayer with its impossibly high ceiling and dome like shape. Hot Pants settled himself in the middle of the room and slumped on the floor, reaching for his hookah and taking in a deep swagger of whatever was inside it.

"Now then, my child. You wanted to inform me of something?"

"Yes yes. The city of Pandemonium has fallen, your grace." replied Oz before activating his mirage ability and projecting the exact event from his eyes. The two watched as the town was slowly compressed into a small mass by some incredible force. Oz showerd much fear in his eyes as he watched the replay but Hot Pants remained as calm and stoic as ever, blowing bubbles from his mouth without a worry in the world.

"I see. So the Mirages are ge--"

"Actually your grace, it wasn't a Mirage." corrected Oz as the view in the playback shifted to a young woman wearing clothing that neither matched that of a silhouette's or a mirage's. "It was, something else."

The High Samaritan's lax demeanor was stirred by the sight of the young woman and his eyes were completely focused on her. Once the playback ended, Hot Pants closed his eyes and laid flat on the floor.

"So this is what you have warned me of... I understand now." sighed the High Samaritan as he stared up the mural of the heavens in the ceiling.

"Y-Your grace?" uttered Oz.

"You may leave now. I thank you for informing us of this unfortunate event, Oz. You may take up residence here in Gomorrah for the time being." replied Hot Pants before turning his head to look at the messenger. "And I am sorry about the loss of Pandemonium. Rest assured that we will try our best to prevent this threat from wreaking further havoc."

Oz nodded gratefully before taking his leave. He couldn't help but wonder if the High Samaritan could really back up his promise. That person that destroyed Pandemonium... she possessed power beyond their wildest dreams.

Having left the remains of the city that now lay scattered over the countryside quite some time ago, Iono wondered if the man she had caught simply turned in a different direction or was just rather quick on his feet. She had asked him where the largest city of the belligerent group was located and he pointed towards the horizon, claiming that their 'Gomorrah' rested in that direction. Satisfied with the answer, she tossed him in the same direction and told him to run to the one he had invoked so many times already. He was to be the harbinger of her arrival, and she hoped for a warm welcome, although that was unlikely considering what the messenger had seen before he was sent on his way. Still considering the current conflict between the conveniently colored groups, this High Samaritan should at least be able to think beyond the scope of that tiny city, what with him being the leader of half of the remaining humans of the world.

The idea of what she had just done still hung, understandably, as the focus in her mind. She had her abilities ingrained in her mind since the moment she opened her eyes, but the appearance of her own consciousness allowed her appreciation for the power to grow. Now she was easily ripping through entire cities with ease, and without the slightest bit of thought as to the consequences. During these thoughts the image of her counterpart grabbed her attention. She wasn't able to find her when she woke up and assumed she had been long gone. With no way of knowing where she had went other than in the general direction of the point of origin, she went about her own way until the recent events gave her a new perspective on the programming. "I wonder how she's doing." She cast her eyes around the immediate area, knowing that it was unlikely for anyone to be there, but hopeful in meeting her.

After some time passed, the city Iono assumed to be Gomorrah came into view. She didn't notice anything that stood out as unusual when compared to the last city she visited, only that there was more of everything and that most of it was bigger as well. "It's more impressive then anything else I've so far. I wonder if my frightened messenger ever made it here or not; there doesn't seem to be any sign of a disturbance." She continued towards what she assumed to be the main entrance to their capital and looked towards the guards. It was easy to tell she was not amongst their population and she wondered if they would act differently when compared to that disgusting smear she had left somewhere in the rubble. When she came to a point where they would easily hear her voice she called out to them. "I am here to see your High Samaritan. I sent someone ahead to inform him of this and I now need directions to that person." She waited for a response from anyone in the general area, there were a few citizens among the ones bearing weapons and they would be equally helpful in taking her to her destination.

“Hoi, hoi! If you’re looking for the finest goods in all of Gomorrah, look no further! I have everything from clothes, to blankets, food, and scriptures! I’ve got it all for you my friends! Not a store in this city beats my prices!” Rowan called, walking about in loose-fitting brown clothes befitting his lack of wealth. Then again, his bare feet didn’t help his appearance any. His grin, however, stood out as he meandered through the town. It was good to be a part of making this town a better place. Nothing could cause his devotion to falter. His happy-go-lucky attitude proved to be somewhat of an annoyance to his fellow Mirage at times, but usually they were grateful to see someone with such a lively vigor and passion for his career.

He stopped for a moment, handing a blanket to a young girl and her elderly grandfather. It was obvious to Rowan that the two weren’t very well off. Despite this town being larger than some that Rowan had travelled to, there were many people in no better shape than he himself. “Take this…” He spoke softly, as if kindness and his soft smile would help soothe those in strife. If nothing else, he had to at least try and help others. It was a passion of his, as it was a passion of his father before him. After receiving gratuitous thanks from the two, Rowan continued on his path through town. He felt good doing this every day…

However, everything came to a grinding halt when he saw a man he had seen before rushing through the town. He didn’t think much of it at first, but then it began to eat at his thoughts. That was Oz, a man from the distant city of Pandemonium. Moreover, it appeared he had traveled here in quite a rush… I wonder what’s bothering him so much? However, Rowan soon pushed the thought away. After all, it appeared the man was headed in the direction of the High Samaritan. Whatever the reason, the messiah of the Mirage would not fail to help that man. These hopeful thoughts were drained from him at the appearance of an odd sort of person he had never seen before. She appeared to be human, but wasn’t a Mirage… “She’s not a Silhouette either…” Rowan muttered, eyeing the woman carefully before she spoke. She was here to see the Grand Samaritan.

Rowan took this as his chance. He walked towards the woman slowly, returning his smile. If anything, he had to, at the very least, maintain his composure. “Excuse me, Miss. If you’re looking for the High Samaritan, I could take you to him.”

Finn adjusted his tie, looking at himself in the mirror. He looked pretty handsome if he could say so himself. A smile crept onto his lips as he stared at his reflection. It felt like he was staring at the face of Sodom itself, he was the President after all. This city was run by him, and he did a fine job of it. The streets were peaceful and civil, just like him. He shaped the city into the magnificent and civilized place it was now, the Silhouette stronghold. It was a place of justice, refinement, and above all, Mirage-free. He spat into the corner, where a spittoon was. Normally, many would frown upon him spitting, but a bad taste had entered his mouth as he thought of Mirages. He didn't know how they could survive as they did: With a 'Priest' smoking a pipe as their 'leader'. It truly baffled him how such a unrefined city such as Gomorrah could survive for the length of period it had.

But enough of that, he put on his blue suede suit and walked towards the door. His secretary filled him in as he walked towards the doors of the Presidential building to enter his private vehicle. As he walked, he was only half listening, reflecting on his own past. He had always felt like he was leading a double life, a President life and his own: both were needed to kept separate or things got ugly. Finn sighed, adjusting his cufflinks. Somedays he felt that he was only president because of his powers. Finn was a very gifted Silhouette, almost on the league of the Mirages in his mind games. Many had called him sadistic and evil, but he called it fun. Besides, life needed excitement.

He walked out of the doors to see his vehicle sitting there. Just another day in the office, as usual.

Jinx was sitting down on a bench fiddling with the blue beads that dangled from her hoodie as the lively atmosphere of the revolutionary metropolis of Sodom surrounded her and her companion Jumper- a type of wolf she had learned to call friend. Her fellow citizens looked busy, no doubt being silhouettes that they were thinking logically on a matter.. be it for technological advancement or further knowledge. At least, that’s how Jinx understood them to be like. Not a moment of time passed without such a thought entering through the mind; a result of a Silhouette’s want to keep advancing and striving forward. And then the need.. a Silhouette’s need for a reason or substantial amount of proof to believe or embrace anything. Right now, that was what Jinx was searching for.

The footsteps of busy folk passed her by time and time again as she sat there, trivially playing with the dangling beads until she at last, decided to stand up and Jumper obediently followed behind as she made her way for a city store. The automatic doors opened for her and Jumper to step in, the shoppers already appalled that the wild animal was allowed inside a civilised technological building but Jinx would not leave her best friend outside in the cold. In fact, she treated the animal like a human. Jinx headed into a restricted store in the corner that nobody really took notice of without another second wasted on what other people were thinking and upon entering along with her companion, her eyes gleamed at the array of weapons displayed on the shelves and behind bullet proof casing. “Jinx, back again so soon?” The weapons dealer asked, leaning across the counter looking where her eyes were headed around his store. She simply nodded taking out her GC-88 model gun, her second weapon on person. As she placed it on the space in front of the man in miniature form she said softly, “Enlarge GC-88” and the weapon gradually grew to its normal size on voice activation. The weapon was now obviously in bad shape, having numerous scratches along the barrel and dented on its handle’s side. “My golly Jinx.” The weapons dealer said, pushing his glasses closer to his eyes as he analysed the damage. “Get it fixed by the time I come back..” she said nonchalantly exiting the way she came without another word. Jumper sniffed around the store playfully before following after what it would call its master. Jinx glanced over her shoulder at the wolf with an expressionless face. “Anything suspicious?” she questioned as Jumper tilted his head, as if confirming nothing out of the ordinary. “Alright.” She concluded, walking through the rest of the shopping centre with her long faded blue ponytails bouncing at the sides of her head slightly with each step though the girl’s personality front didn’t appear to match its cheerfulness.

"I did not ask for a guide Mirage, I asked for directions." She barely glanced at the man who stood before her and gave her answer with in an agitated tone. She didn't want to follow some bumbling idiot who would fall to his knees in prayer at the drop of a hat, and she certainly didn't want to see another marble of that disgusting hue for some time. She pointed towards a building towards the center of this place they referred to as a capital, squinting her eyes in an attempt to make the image clearer. Before he could give any clarifications or add further to her memory of him, she spoke, this time with insults escaping her lips. "Is that where your cult leader resides? It seems suitable for one who has hoisted himself so high using a mental illness as a rope." She would not hide her feelings of superiority any more than she had done in the last city of red she passed through, and if they found issue with such a thing she would happily craft herself a new ball to play with.

She turned somewhat towards the tanned boy, someone who she assumed sold something around this area considering he was not a guard and there was no other good reason for someone to be here. Her eyes had gone unchanged since she had gotten close to this city, one of annoyance and apathy. She didn't want to feel this way, it was just hard for her to show any other form of emotion without a much more comforting atmosphere about her. Being in the capital of the people she just forced to become intimate on an atomized level, definitely didn't offer that, at least not yet.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

So is Sodom's government similar to the US's in management? Like the president has a cabinet and they have a congress or is the president like a dictator?

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

I'll work on a reply now.

Sorry for taking so long but I thought one of the other people would have posted by now and I've had exams and readings to do here >.>

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

I think it would be better to reply now.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Should I wait for people to make their intro posts, or should I respond and just go ahead of them?

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

@Joker:

Gack has corrected that error

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

my first post is kinda lame, but i had nothing really to go on :p

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Not quite sure what to write as a citizen.. just doing anything in Sodom?

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

I was looking over the characters and noticed that Andrew Layton is a Mirage, yet he is placed in the Silhouette category...

Yet after further reading, I believe there may be a typo, since i'm pretty sure Andrew is a Silhouette.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Well, I made the first post everyone. Feel free to jump in now. ^^

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Yeah you're right, Red. Our truth will probably finish her character later.

I'll be starting the RP tonight.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Perhaps it'd be best to start? As well as make a roleplayers wanted topic. It'll be easier to attract others with an ongoing story? If we take too long we might end up losing more people than ideal ><

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Helecate and Reianna has officially dropped out of the RP so we have one Silhouette and one Mirage Spot available.

Bumping this RP again!

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

I did, yesterday actually.

Well I guess I'll give it another shot.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Have you pmed them a reminder..? Maybe they forgot :S Just a suggestion if you haven't.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Your character has been approved JokerofSpades.

Still waiting for the others to submit their characters.

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Here's a tip for finding pics.

You could visit Zerochan.net and search for either Blue or Red. You can find hundreds of pics of characters that are red or blue themed. ^^

EDIT: I've checked your character Valkyrieknight and she's okay with me. Approved!

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Submitted my charrie =3 Still searching for a theme song but pretty much done o\

Re: [OOC] Illusion: Lies and Truths

Well you could try searching konachan if you're making a girl. You'll find some guys there too, but there's a lot less.
