Introduction
Many people are familiar with the Ouija Board, a piece of wood with letters painted or etched into it, with a pointer used to spell out messages from the spirits of the dead during a seance. Well, what people do not realize is that the original Ouija was something completely different. So come join the adventure and discover its true nature and origin.
BASICS OF GAME PLAY:
1. This RPG is Setup as a mystery/adventure
2. Members start off with no idea of the true Ouija board or its origins, but are only familiar with the classic wooden board with letters and pointer, designed to communicate with the dead.
3. Through the RP members will learn of and uncover each of the 4 items which make up the original Ouija board.
4. The first part will be found in a specific place, the others will be found using clues gathered from this first location.
THE PLOT:
Please read the following page for general information on the Ouija board
http://www.castleofspirits.com/ouijaboards.html
The origins of the Ouija board begin with two sisters; the Fox sisters, who actively claimed to communicate with spirits on a regular basis. They developed a system of knocks for each letter of the alphabet and so communicated with the spirit world using this method. Word traveled fast about the sisters' talent of contacting the dead and soon everyone from America to Europe wanted to do the same. In 1891 two gentlemen, Elijah Bond and Charles Kennard, had an idea to attach a planchette (pointer) to a board with the alphabet on it and had in fact invented the first Ouija board. Dr. Aldo Curry, the medical director of the 'Danvers Insane Asylum' of New York claimed that his asylum was witness to an outbreak of mass insanity, all stemming from the publics fascination and obsession with the 18th century parlor game. Dr. Walter Miller and his colleque Abegial McHugh are professors at Marshall College in Conneticut, along with their mentor Dr. Henry Jones. Walter is determined to recover the Quija device, a life long obsession, hopefully with the help of someone he can trust.

OOC Notes
Classroom #32. Occult Sciences
Walter was running a little late for his class and so he hadn't had a chance to read through his mail from the other day, instead bringing them to school and placing the letters on his desk to be opened later. Had Walter been more diligent in paying attention to such matters he would have noticed a letter of particular personal interest to him, hidden among the bills and junk letters. This mornings discussion revolved around the Spiritualist movement of 18th century Europe and America, with a particular focus on the subject of communication with spirits. Most of the class was dedicated to the various instruments and tools used for such endeavors, mainly the Planchette, a crude-heart shaped piece of wood with a pencil attached at the tip and two wheels connected beneath the wider end. This forerunner to the smaller version used in tandem with the classic 'board' type, used a simple sheet of paper placed beneath the device to contain the messages received from the spirits of the dead.

With a big inhale in Abegail began her first lecture of the morning. Her speech was careful as she ensured that her heavy accent slipped in as little as possible. The last thing she neede was the students complaining because they didn't understand what she was saying.
Her lecture today was about the beginnings of the Grail myth, a subject they would discuss all year. Along with this class, Abegail also taught a regular European History, and medieval history class. She had to do well, her contract with the college was only for two years with the chance to be made permanent after the two years were up. She was hired to replace a retired professor who, due to failing health was forced to leave befor he would have liked.
Her red hair was pulled away from her face and pinned back as she stood and talked to her class. Most looked bored as all college students do, but a few were keen and asked questions. By the end Abby's nerves had calmed. Smiling she left the lecture room and headed to her office. Passing by a few of her colleagues, Abegail smiled and said hello. Unlocking the door to her office, Abegail entered and dropped her briefcase off on the messy desk. She hadn't been here long but it didn't take much for her desks to be littered with notebooks, texts and other various bits of things.
Abegail turned and headed out of her office again, this time in search of coffee. She had no idea where to find it but she figured if she poked into enough doors she was bound to find some. Walking down the hall, she poked her head into one door that was cracked open. A man was sitting at his desk reading a letter.
"Oh, excuse me. I was looking for a place to get some coffee." Abegail voice was apologetic.

Abegail stepped into the room and walked to the man, hand extended her. "Thank you for the tip on where to find the coffee. I have not had a great deal of time to get to know the campus yet." Abegail kept her smile. "You are?"
Abegail glanced around the room attempting to get a sense of what the man taught. He was older than she was, likely a permanent member of the staff. His room didn't give enough away for her to peg down a particular subject however. So, she waited for him to introduce himself so she could ask him.

Abegail crinkled her nose at her slip of accent. The gesture made her look young, a motion a young girl presented with a bug might make. She took a step forward again, her hand still out waiting for him to shake it. What an odd man he was. Abegail looked him over. From here, he didn't seem too much older than she was but the hat made it difficult to tell. He was tall, that much was certain. Hair was barely visible under the brim of the hat. Abegail chuckled to herself thinking of her mother's opinion of longer hair on men, despite the fact that Abegail's own brothers tended to wear their's longer.
He seemed like an unusual man, likely taught Geography or Anthropology. He wasn't stuffy enough for the English department and too causual for any of the sciences.

"I teach History. European, Medeval, with a specialty in Grail Mythology."
Abegail tilted her head, "Dr. Jones? Indiana Jones? I have met the man, briefly when I first arrived. He is gone right now is he not? I believe he mentioned that he was leaving shortly when I met him, what it is now, about a week ago?"
Abegail's curiousity was creeping in, "So this letter, must be something important for you to be so excited about it. Not common mail I assume?"

The staff at 'Damners' as it is affectionately known by staff and inmate alike, are overburdened by the unprecedented influx of new patients into the hospital. At times, it seems as though it's all a game of 'who will die first, to make room for another' as they barely have enough space to accommodate the patients they already have. Most of the inmates housed at Danvers are long time sufferers of mental disorders, ranging from slight Dementia to Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality), though not recognized as such in the current era. What's strange is that all of the newly arrived patients seem to suffer from the latter. The diagnosis of such an infliction in this day and age was believed to be more aligned with possession, then mental deficiency. It seems as though the Danvers Insane Asylum has been overrun by individuals possessed by the spirits of the dead. Whats even more puzzling is that they all seem to be coming from a relatively small village, situated only a few miles from the facility, and which is often visited the Danvers medical director Dr. Aldo Curry.

"It's alright. I was just leaving. Coffee calls. It was nice to meet you Dr. Rivers." Abegail nodded to him and the woman as she attempted to walk past the blonde who was in the door.
Abegail, awkwardly shuffled her way around the woman, making space for her to step in and talk to Walter. Once outside of the door, Abegail made her way down the hall to find the coffee. Once she had a cup in hand Abegail made her way back to her office, passing Walter's again. Shaking her head, Abegail smiled. "Pretty blondes always made mens head's turn."
Abegail took a seat at her desk and pulling out a notebook began making notes.

Andrea took a quick glance around the professors office, it reminded her a lot of Indiana's or Dr Jones as he was to her back when she was a student, the only difference was the subject matter that filled the room, instead of things to do with archaeology, things to do with the Occult filled the room, yes, she had defiantly come to the right man.
"Mind if I sit?" she asked motioning to the wooden chair placed opposite the Professor on the other side of the desk.

"Dear Doctor Miller, my name is Dr. Aldo Curry, the medical director of the Danvers Insane Asylum in upstate New York, in a little town called Berketville. You may not remember me but, I had attended one of your lectures which you held in New York city at the Waldorf hotel. This would be roughly one year ago. In case you have forgotten, I shall now explain. I expressed an interest in the Ouija and communication with the spirit world, in relation to mental and emotional disorders. I have been visiting a nearby town from which we have recently been sent many unfortunate individuals, these people seem to be possessed by some malevolent spiritual force. The fact that all of these unfortunates have come from one specific location has led me to believe that there is something strange going on in the town. Rumors of Witchcraft, seances and various unwholesome activities have been reported. Ouija boards have been discovered in many of the households from which these new patients have come. Please Dr. Miller, I need your help and your advice on this matter. Can you help me? signed Dr. Aldo Curry."
Looking up from the letter Walter focused on Adrea's reaction to the message. "Now thats an eerie coincidence." Walter exclaimed.

"I realized that this is perhaps not enough to spark your interest in what is going here. I cannot get into too much detail, as there are other interested parties. Just in case this letter is intercepted, I shall have to tell you when you get here. Lets just say, I have an item that would interest you."
After Walter had read the conclusion of the letter he looked at Andrea once more, "Well. That changes everything. Are you up for an adventure." Walter smiled.
OOC Notes
"Could it be possible that 'the other interested parties' Dr Curry speaks of, could have anything to do with the break in?" She asked curiously. A large smile appeared on Andrea's face when he asked whether she was up for an adventure "Try and stop me."
