Introduction
Welcome to Jolly Acres Mental Institution, a calm environment where even the most troubled minds will spend the rest of their lives in peace...
That's what it says on the brochure. It made me laugh because, really, who do they think they're fooling here?
The first time I saw the brochure was long after I was checked in. The whole thing is one big piece of comedy, if you ask me. There are pictures of patients painting, swimming laps, and playing guitar. Don't let it all fool you. Past the bustling gardens at the welcome gate and the perky welcoming building, it's just like any other institution. It's just a bunch of concrete buildings surrounded by barb wire fence.
I'm not even sure how I remember all of that... I haven't seen the light of day in years...
Jolly Acres Mental Institution is home to some of the top crazies in the world. It's the Alcatraz of asylums. Due to being guarded like a maximum security prison, no one's ever managed to get out. That is, until now.
This is where you come in. It seems I've found a way to get out, and I'm taking you guys with me. This is our chance to escape and lead a normal life. Most of us are already in straight jackets, so it's not like there's really any consequences ahead. But I warn you, the open road is harsh, especially for people like us. To survive, we'll have to stick together. We might, I daresay, become friends. But that aside, join me as we hitchhike across the midwest, as we camp out in the middle of nowhere, as we traverse the darkest alleyways in the country! Join me for a taste of freedom and a chance at the life you always deserved!
But it won't be easy. I mean, why does everyone look so scared of us...? Crazies have feelings too, you know!
Rules
In addition to the obvious (Be respectful, no god-modding), I expect you to;
~Be 100% LITERATE. I understand, sometimes we miss a typo when we proofread. I get it. But consistently poor grammar and spelling on your part is just lazy.
~Your posts should be at a 250 word minimum.. Add some bulk to those posts! Scrawny little one-liners don't make for a good story.
~When/before joining, please PM me or reply to my Insanity OOC topic
~I'm not sure if this exactly a rule, but you're encouraged to get creative with your character. Diversity makes things interesting.
~Most importantly, have fun~!

There can be something that's just different about the person, that's cool. Anything that you think would get them into a mental institution for some amount of time. When creating your character, just follow the site's basic character skeleton, that should be enough. Just make sure we have a basic understanding of your character's personality, history, and why they're in the Acres.
Also, to all of you: The story will consist of the escape and them trying to get far away, and I sort of saw things ending up where we all decide we can't just keep running forever, so they have to make more permanent decision, i.e., will they give up and return? Try to destroy the Acres so there's nothing to worry about anymore? Flee the country and take up residence somewhere far, far away? It just depends on how things play out.
