He was once Striker; one of the world's most dangerous villains. Now he is Cocoon, and his ambitions have driven him to becoming even worse.
Real name: Joseph Orson
Age: 124
Abilities: Joseph was born with the special ability to teleport... or so he thought. Over time he learned that his power was another all-together. Joseph wields electricity and generates it on an extremely high level. The teleportation was due to self-charging suddenly being released and lurching him forwards at the speed of light. During these instances he fuses with the very matter he creates and almost instantly reappears. Of course, becasue this ability is not instant, actual teleportation, and instead involves travelling he must know the route from A to B beforehand. Eventually Joseph learned to control the power and discovered that through constantly charging his own body his agility could increase for stunning results. At times he reaches such speeds that he appears not to be present at all. The added tension flowing within also increases his strength. Another use of this power is the physical manifestation of this electricity in infinite forms, from streaks of lightning to buzzing auras an even complicated shapes. Joseph, because of his ability, is inmune to any dangers that electricity may pose, and can travel through exterior sources such as wires. Yet another use is the capability to drain electricity, generated or even biological, to heal himself or empower. Joseph has also been known to transform completely into electrcity at times, rendering him completely resistant to physical harm and dangerous upon contact. The voltage running through Joseph at all times is immense, making Joseph not the most powerful, but perhaps the most dangerous villain around when coupled with his complete lack of morals.
In his current state (Posessing no physical from but able to manifest himself through forms of pure electricity) Joseph can project himself through electricity, effectively creating copies of what was once his body.
Excessive use or the use of grand quanitites of energy drain Joseph.
The current Joseph is arrogant, selfish and extremely ambitious. The self-obsessed male cares little or not at all for the goings on in the world around him such as the Levani and his race's strife. Instead, he chooses to focus his attention on achievement and discovery... for now. His ultimate goal is a simple one. Glory.
Originally his goal was power, domination and every other thing a man with power to abuse desires. Unfortunately, things did not go too well, and after a short while he realised that soon he would age, weaken and eventually die. That was unacceptable. Objectives shifted and Joseph began to do anything and everything to prolong his own life at any cost, whilst maintaining his eternal youth. Before becoming Cocoon, Joseph was a handsome man, extremely, and because of this excessively vain. Now, knowing fully well about his current condition Joseph wants nothing more than to find something that will restore his lost body.
In short, Joseph wants to achieve the unachievable. Joseph desires immortality and is willing to do anything to obtain it. In truth, his own death petrifies him more than anything else. He hates thinking about it and refuses to even talk about such a thing. Despite the fact that his suit allows him to live indefinitely and through his ability he can regenerate almost instantly, he knows that he is only a system failure away from no longer existing.
Joseph shares no views with either humans or Levani, but has 'allied' himself with both on many occasions. The very technology that maintains his life is based on tech stolen and bought from Levani, and is an upgraded version of his previous work he built with a team of expert humans. Though rather a typical view for a villain, Joseph sees anyone and everyone around him as tools to achieve his goals... with one exception.
Recently, however, Joseph has been showing changes.
Cocoon: Cocoon is the technological suit that encapsules Joseph's body and also adds numerous benefits.
-The Cocoon suit provides Joseph with nightvision, thermal vision and X-ray vision on a limited scale.
-The suit is also able to morph, effectively allowing Joseph to take on any form or even render himself completely camoflauged, almost invisible.
-The Cocoon suit is perfectly adapted to Joseph's abilities and functions as if it wasn't there whenever 'teleportation' or other powers that would normally be impossible with it are used.
-It has no need of a power source due to it feeding of Joseph's self-generated electricity.
-Two wires stretch from the back acting as constantly vigilant eyes.
-Joseph is rendered inmune to any form of mind manipulation within Cocoon.
Weapons
-Sword: On Joseph's back is a single sword that can be charged with electricity for additional effect.
-Knives: He carries a large number of knives sheathed across the suit that can be thrown, or more often than not fired forwards like bullets when Joseph charges his grasp.
-EMP grenades: Usually Joseph can render electronic devices useless by simply overcharging them, but you never know.
-Regular grenades, smoke grenades and flashbangs.
Joseph Orson never was the luckiest person to have lived. He was born as a superior being, down to reasons unknown, along with his sister, who was also gifted, into a wealthy family. Childhood was as basic as childhood could be for someone with such abilities for Joseph, but so was life. He saw his powers as just another aspect of the world around him.
Joseph was as polite and as well educated as a child needed to be so as not to make his parents look bad. Without his gift he would have been completely normal, and to the world it seemed that way. He had been well by his parents to hide what he was capable of, study, and try to get a decent job someday. In all honesty, it wasn't until his teenage years when the first main event in his life took place.
As he matured his thoughts developed. He had always wanted to be like the heroes he often heard about, just like any one of his friends, but fortunately for him, he had the means to make that happen. Knowing this he started off small; saving kittens and stopping bullies at school along with other activities of the sort. For a boy of his age it was fun, and the attention was a bonus he grew to adore. Even though his parents had told him not to draw attention to himself, it was something that made him happy... for a short while. Eventually he grew bored of doing small things and his ambitions ascended to greater heights. He began to set his studies aside and focus on becoming a real hero; someone who could make a big difference, someone who would be loved. Despite his efforts however, things just didn't work out. His wasn't efficient enough, wasn't in the right place at the right time. The name he had invented for himself, Striker, just wouldn't spread. There was always some other hero stopping the bank robberies and bringing down evil before he could even find out what was going on. It took time, but he gradually reached the conclusion that if he wanted to become a hero, he would have to stage something. He needed to bring about a false evil that only he would stop, alone, but for that he needed another.
Joseph's sister did not share his goals, and was leading a regular life. At first she refused to help, but over time Joseph convinced her that if his happiness was of any concern to her, she would have to. It was Joseph's first act of manipulation, though he was nowhere near becoming the monster he was destined to be.
To protect her identity she donned a mask and on one busy day in Chicago unleashed chaos. There was no destruction or harm to speak off, but her actions embedded fear into the innocent citizens. The eighteen year old Joseph was the first to arrive on the scene knowing that this was his moment. All he needed to do was pretend to stop his sister, and people would know the name of Striker. Unfortunately, no real planning had gone into the idea. He had been careless and his sibling had only followed through so as not to disappoint her brother. As Joseph reached her there was an intervention, another hero, already famous, who wanted nothing more than to bring down evil with all of his being. This hero's intentions were pure, but that meant little to Joseph. It was his time to shine and nobody would take that away from him. Foolishly, he attacked the second hero before any harm could be brought to his sister, or the reputation he desired. The battle was fierce, and to everybody else's eyes Striker was an ally of evil, attempting to defend the latest threat from their saviour. Joseph realized this too late, and when he was beaten and thrown to the ground he saw that his sister had fled. He was angry. Furious at the one who had stolen his opportunity, and as police dragged his weakened self into the back of the van he realised that his days of being a hero were over before they had even began.
The aftermath of Striker's battle with the hero was brutal. Lives had been taken and destruction had been the key element. Their was no redemption for Joseph after what he had done. He was sentenced to life in prison.
The first days were terrible. There was no contact from his family or friends. He had been wearing no costume, after all. They knew he was responsible for what had happened and he doubted they would want anything to do with him. He was right. The families of villains were known to suffer greatly, and it was in their best interest to severe any relation with the feared Striker. In his cell Joseph began to brood, but eventually new news reached his ears. On the outside Striker had become a household name already. Even within the prison, despite the constant security around him and the technology that restricted his powers, he inspired terror. In less than an hour he had achieved what he hadn't been able to do in all of his years: fame, or more accurately now, infamy. With nobody inside the prison and only rumours of what people thought of him as company he became completely focused on himself. It was clear to him that he was more powerful than anyone else there, feared even by the guards around him. He was superior in more or less every way. Men and women double his age had failed to make an impact on the world like he did, and they would waste away, forgotten. That wouldn't happen to him, though. Everyone knew who he was, but after a while he began to doubt that. Years passed and eventually people stopped talking about Striker. Inside, other criminals realised that he could do nothing to them, as did the guards, and he became just one more guy. A number. This gave Joseph a motive to leave.
It was surprisingly easy to defeat the restrictive technology. After all, they were electronic devices, and through constant electrical charging, despite thins being mostly prevented by devices, he shorted their circuits. Not much can be said about Joseph's following escape. There was death and chaos and rage and destruction. The more he did, the more he would be remembered. If he simply escaped then he would be on the news for a few weeks. If he erased the prison in the process, well, that was something on a much higher level.
Once again in the outside world, Joseph realised just how hard it was to be a villain. Almost immediately there were heroes after him, and only narrowly did he escape. His original plan had been to cause as much panic as possible... constantly, but when heroes got involved he found himself to get quite frustrated. He was superior, yes, but they were many, and Striker did not want to share his glory with an ally. No sooner had Striker returned to the world, he vanished.
Joseph retreated into the shadows to contemplate his next move. His mind was racing. How could he achieve the infamy he deserved, survive, and make sure he was never forgotten? Death was the main obstacle. The heroes wouldn't make the same mistake again and simply lock him away to return again someday. They would kill him, no doubt, and even if he did make an impact on the world, he would die and eventually fade from memory. What he desired.... no, what he needed, was immortality.
Striker kidnapped the greatest technological minds and put them to work. Over time they developed The Cocoon. The Cocoon was what it's name implied. It was a shell that would protect Joseph until a permanent solution to his little dying problem could be solved. Eventually he would be reborn as an immortal, but until the the suit would have to suffice. Unfortunately, though, there was a catch. The Cocoon would effectively cryogenically freeze Joseph, rendering him inactive. If there was any problem and he didn't wake up, he would be forgotten. That was the moment when the Cocoon's second form was built. It possessed an artificial mind. Joseph's entire brain and DNA was copied completely onto a chip and inserted into The Cocoon. Whilst he was inside, it wouldn't be Joseph acting, but an exact replica of the sleeping one within. Joseph inserted himself inside the suit and connected it to himself... they became one. The Cocoon maintained Joseph alive, whilst he did the same and used his own generated electricity as a power source. The suit was sentient. Joseph slept within whilst a second Joseph, a copy, became the villain known as Cocoon.
Cocoon was worse than Striker. It was the same person, but enhanced, with better protection and a computer's ability to learn and calculate at an alarming rate. For years Cocoon wreaked havoc. Despite this, he was a machine, and because of that was controlled during a short period of time by Dr. Machina. It was his single moment of subordination as a villain.
Then the Levani arrived, and during their alliance with the humans The Cocoon was upgraded once more. Despite this, there were side effects. The suit began to live off more than Joseph's electricity. It started to drain his very life.
The Cocoon drained him of the little life he had been granted within, and after a while Joseph was reduced to nothing more than the electricity that ran through him. He realised then, that, even without a physical body, he was still alive. As an electrical being he surged through The Cocoon's wiring and took over the mind once more. Now, seemingly never dying, Joseph seeks a way to restore him human form and ultimately, rid the world of the Levani threat and achieve total glory.
