Judith

Judith felt herself flush further at Margaret's stare, the green-haired girl hurriedly eating the rest of her food to buy her a little time. Okay, okay...she could get through this! This...this morning had really turned out to be super embarrassing, b-but, she could get through it! The worst was behind her now....right?

Judith really hoped that was the case...

"S-so, um..." Judith spoke up, looking over at Margaret...her cheeks still tinged a bit pink. As long as Margaret (or Ruth) didn't bring up the 'back' massager again, she certainly wasn't about to elaborate on it any further. "Um, wh-what do you wanna do today, Margie?"

Before she and Margie left to do...whatever they were gonna do for the rest of the day, Judith made a mental note to herself to...move things around in her room, as it were. Because clearly, certain....things were in far too obvious spots, and she really, really didn't want Margaret (or her little sister!) to stumble across her books again, or worse, the...'back' massager.

Aolani

Aolani suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder, as Chiyo proclaimed, "Hey, it's okay. You didn't do anything wrong."

The blonde slowly raised her head up, cautiously looking back at her friend...deeply relieved to see that Chiyo didn't look disgusted, or anything like that. Just...surprised, it seemed.

"Y-you're sure?" Aolani carefully inquired, looking around nervously, her eyes darting back and forth between Chiyo, and the bed frame behind her. "I didn't...that didn't....um, g-gross you out, or anything...?"

Okay, okay....so far so good...m-maybe she could recover from this! Chiyo didn't seem to be reacting all that badly, so...m-maybe...she had a chance to fix this?

Aolani's mind was going into full damage-control mode now, wondering how she could recover from her momentary lapse in judgment. It really all depended on how Chiyo interpreted the kiss...did she think it was just a friendly peck, or....something more? Personally she'd wager the latter, given how she had...m-moaned, into the kiss. That was sort of a dead giveaway, after all. B-but, maybe Chiyo hadn't noticed it, or wouldn't put two and two together...?

....

She didn't....Aolani really hated lying, and people who lied. She hadn't been lying to Chiyo before, of course, it was just...an omission of truth. Chiyo never asked, and she never told. But now, with that kiss...whatever happened next, it would be wrong to try and deny things. She'd just had to accept what had happened, and....try to move on from there.

Aolani shifted around, moving herself so she was fully facing Chiyo, now. She looked away nervously, before gathering a sudden swell of courage...her eyes moving forward, gazing into Chiyo's own, staring straight at her.

"I...." Aolani bit her lip, fighting through her bout of nerves. Ugh, she'd never felt this...this nervous in years! W-what was wrong with her?! "That is, um..."

It was....h-hard, finding the words. She'd....she'd fantasized about this moment, mentally rehearsed what she'd say...usually it involved giving some overly flowery speech, about how much she loved Chiyo and how long she'd had a crush on her best friend. About how she cared about her, and how it hurt so badly, yet felt so good, to...to love her like this. How she wanted to spend the rest of her life with her, and do everything together, and...and....

But the words failed her now. Aolani was usually an articulate girl, always ready to speak her mind. But her voice completely failed her here; she just couldn't think of anything to say. None of her halfhearted preparations and daydreams helped her now.

....

Well then. If she...couldn't be so eloquent, then maybe she didn't need to be. Maybe all she needed were three very simple, but powerful words.

"I love you." the words flowed out of her, and they felt so...right. Liberating, even. She'd wanted to say this for a long, long time. "I love you, Chiyo Wakahisa."

"I believe," replied Margaret, "that you mentioned that you wanted to go to lunch and a movie? I admit that I don't know what's currently showing, but I rather like the idea." She gave another small smile saying this, both because her words actually were completely true, without any hint of ulterior motive or thought for once, even for Judith's benefit as those thoughts and motives almost always were, and as what was hopefully a bit of reassurance.

Having finished, she set her plate aside, adding "And what of you, Ruth? Will you be alright here on your own?" This too was genuine. She figured that it was likely so, based on the fact that Judith seemed alright with it, but Margaret didn't know herself. She didn't know when kids these days started being okay to be left alone. Her own circumstances were a bit unusual, and she could barely remember being Ruth's age. That whole time period sort of blurred together for her into a single 'before'.

Chiyo

"Y-you're sure? I didn't...that didn't....um, g-gross you out, or anything...?"

That was strange. Chiyo supposed Aolani hadn't figured it out after all. Well, now there were situations that Chiyo would need to mentally go back to and reassess. In reply to the actual question, she just shook her head with a smile.

The next words though, they surprised her quite a bit more. Well, at least once she heard them all strung together properly, though the verbal stumbling itself was rather uncharacteristic of Chiyo's friend as she had come to know her, and thus was at least somewhat surprising as well.

Even so, it was nothing compared to those three words in succession. Chiyo had suspected after the kiss itself, that suspicion was directly tied into her current state of mind, that of the dating-sim protagonist, but that didn't mean that she was actually prepared to hear them. For a moment, she just sat there blinking.

"Don't wait too long or she'll get the wrong idea." A part of Chiyo instructed. "You know the words, just say them. If there's anything you know how to do it's this."

"I love you too, Aolani." she said with a warm smile.

And it was true. The blonde was one of the most important things in Chiyo's life. To call the girl her best friend would be understating it for Chiyo. She was her first friend, and something that she would not trade for anything. And if she had romantic feelings for her, well, Chiyo could certainly reciprocate.

Judith

"I believe that you mentioned that you wanted to go to lunch and a movie? I admit that I don't know what's currently showing, but I rather like the idea."

Judith gave a dim little nod, setting aside her plate as she contemplated matters. Yeah, seeing a movie sounded good, and so did going to lunch afterward! Hm, maybe they could invite Chiyo and Aolani over too? It'd be nice to reach out to them, certainly, and Judith really wanted to get to know them better! Especially if either of them joined her or Margaret as fellow Magical Girls!

That thought cheered Judith up a bit, perking her up after the endless embarrassment she'd suffered through since breakfast began. A tiny smile graced her face, traces of her previous embarrassment dissipating.

"And what of you, Ruth? Will you be alright here on your own?"

Ruth looked up from her plate, spearing one last forkful of pancakes to eat, as she finished her own meal. After swallowing, she gave a reply. "Yeah, I'll be fine. You and Juddy should go enjoy your movie. I was gonna hang out with Matthew today, anyway."

Judith couldn't help but give her sister a wide grin, unable to help herself from teasing her sibling one last time. "You mean your boyfri--"

"He is not my boyfriend, Juddy!" Ruth shot back, cutting her sister off before she could finish. Judith merely giggled in reply, causing Ruth to scowl and stick her tongue out at her elder sister.

Judith giggled some more, which seemed to annoy Ruth, as the younger girl huffed, crossing her arms. After a few seconds she stood up, grabbing her plate.

"Well, I'm done." she stated, giving Margaret a little smile...while giving her sister a stern (but cute) glare. "Thanks for the food, Margaret."

That said, Ruth took her leave, depositing the plate and fork into the kitchen sink, before going up the stairs to her room.

Judith gave one last little chortle of laughter, a small smile on her face as she looked over at Margaret. "Hehe. It's probably mean of me to tease Ruth so much, but I can't help it! She just looks so cute when she gets so defensive, like that."

The green-haired girl stretched in her seat, thinking things over one last time before speaking some more. "Seeing a movie, and having lunch after, sounds good to me, Margie! Think we could invite Chiyo and Aolani over for lunch, maybe? Or do...something, together, later today? I really wanna get to know them better, especially if they become Magical Girls like us!"

Aolani

"I love you too, Aolani."

Aolani gave a slow, languid blink at that....almost not quite certain she'd heard Chiyo right.

But she had. There...there was no mistaking it. Chiyo, she'd really....s-she'd said that....that....

Aolani felt her face flush again, though more from excitement and pure glee rather than embarrassment. She gave Chiyo a rather bashful little smile, the blonde feeling incredibly nervous and unsure, all of a sudden. Her usual confidence still eluding her at the moment.

"R-Really? You do?" Aolani questioned, looking over at Chiyo....staring at her best friend (and soon to be girlfriend?) with a shy smile. Though the query was more rhetorical than anything else.

The biracial girl felt an immense amount of relief go through her, as if a massive burden was suddenly lifted off of her shoulders. And in a sense, it was, wasn't it? She'd...finally come clean, and to her absolute joy, Chiyo accepted her confession. Moreover, her friend returned her feelings!

Aolani gave a nervous little giggle, the blonde still looking around, her eyes not quite wanting to fixate on Chiyo just yet. Her heart fluttered rapidly in her chest, and she felt almost...lightheaded, in a sense. W-Was this what it felt like? Pure joy? It'd been such a long, long time since Aolani had felt anything coming close to this!

"Can I, um...." Aolani suddenly spoke up, giving the purplette a nervous little smile. Her throat felt incredibly dry all of a sudden, forcing her to swallow....but Aolani did not continue on; her words trailing off as she lost the courage to speak.

Her usual demeanor still failed her...leaving her in perhaps her most vulnerable time. Aolani almost felt like a whole new girl, in a sense. S-She was never this nervous! Never this...emotional! Feeling this way was so...weird. But, well, really nice too, of course.

It might be awhile yet before she regained her usual confidence, though. This day....yesterday, as well....Aolani had been on one emotional roller-coaster to another. Discovering magic was real, telling Chiyo the whole story of her parents' murder, and now, this....i-it was hard to believe she'd ever feel normal again!

But, well, maybe that wasn't so bad. And even if it was....she'd adjust, given time. She might be shy and bashful now, but soon enough, Aolani felt confident her usual personality would assert itself.

Not before she made an utter fool of herself in front of Chiyo, though.

"C-Can I...." Aolani bashfully looked away, fiddling with a lock of her hair. Inwardly berating herself for acting so oddly, especially in front of Chiyo! She was totally embarrassing herself with this....moe-girl act! B-but, she just couldn't help it! Besides...she hadn't asked permission the last time. It'd be...b-better, if she did this time around.

"Can I kiss you again, Chiyo?" Aolani finally managed to get the words out, fully looking over at her longtime friend, a small smile spread across her face. "I-I"d really like to....y-you know. Kiss you....again. If, um, th-that's okay."

Margaret

Margaret watched the siblings with a smile, putting her own dishes away as she did. It was nice to see them... getting along? Was that the right phrase for it? They certainly weren't truly fighting. She nodded in acknowledgement of the thanks, and gave a short farewell wave as Ruth left the room.

"Well, the plan was already to take them out on a Witch hunt," Margaret answered Judith, "but I wouldn't have any objections to having lunch with them first. My only concern would be their ability to keep it down. Some of the barriers can be a bit... surreal."

Her smile faded just a bit. "I agree that we should get to know them better, particularly since Yuubey seems interested in recruiting them." What remained of the smile changed ever so slightly at the point, becoming gentle and somehow sad. Slightly pitying, if one could actually detect it, and was inclined to interpret it that way. "Try to keep in mind though, that the island's Grief Seed supply is finite. With our current consumption, plus the addition of one, maybe two, new inexperienced Magical Girls to take care of..."

Margaret trailed off, but continued in her mind. It would be like adopting a pet when you barely make enough to feed yourself. Your options are to deny responsibility for it, giving it to someone else to take care of, hardly an option in this case, watch it slowly starve, horrible, but likely inevitable, putting it out of its misery, what Margaret would probably have to do in secret if one of them did contract, or give it your food, then become too weak to provide for it and die with it. There was also the possibility of one of them leaving the island, but that was almost a combination of the first three.

No. Aolani and Chiyo should by no means be allowed to contract, if the alien little weasel hadn't gotten them to already.

"Well then, that aside, shall we be off?" Margaret's small smile returned to its usual, largely non-emotive, state, and she offered her hand.

Chiyo

"Of course I do." Chiyo answered the obviously rhetorical question. It wasn't that she misunderstood that it was one, just that she felt that Aolani could potentially do with some reassurance. It certainly wouldn't hurt at least. The truth in it made it easier to say than she would have thought, though perhaps the fact that she had always kind of figured Aolani knew how strongly she felt factored in as well.

There were some lingering doubts of course, but it was actually pretty easy to ignore them for once. This was, quite unarguably, a situation in which Chiyo knew what she was doing, and it made her feel uncharacteristically confident.

In direct contrast, Aolani seemed to be rather flustered. It was kind of adorable actually. It evoked an odd mixture of affection and amusement, and the purple-haired girl couldn't help but think how strangely well fiction and fact seemed to match up. Moe, it seemed, was an actual thing in the real world.

"Can I kiss you again, Chiyo?" This did manage to catch Chiyo off guard though, perhaps because she was lost in her thoughts. She blinked, slightly surprised, and blushed, feeling herself returning somewhat to her usual demeanor. "I-I"d really like to....y-you know. Kiss you....again. If, um, th-that's okay." For some reason, even as her blush deepened and she she found herself shyly averting her gaze, Chiyo smiled at the words. In answer, she nodded, returning her eyes to Aolani's face, leaning forward, and parting her lips slightly.

Judith

"Try to keep in mind though, that the island's Grief Seed supply is finite. With our current consumption, plus the addition of one, maybe two, new inexperienced Magical Girls to take care of..."

Judith frowned at that, not liking the sound of that! Margie could really be such a downer sometimes....though to be fair, she kinda did have a point. Still...she was sure they could work things out! They were Magical Girls, after all! They could do anything! Plus, having one or two more girls fighting alongside them would make taking down Witches a lot easier.

"Well then, that aside, shall we be off."

"Of course!" Judith beamed at Margaret, eagerly taking her friend's offered hand, intertwining her fingers with Margaret's own. Hand-in-hand, the duo walked out of the house, Judith taking care to make sure she had her purse on her (and her house keys) before leaving.

"So," Judith spoke up after a moment, the two of them walking along the sidewalk, over to the nearest bus stop. Taking the bus would be the quickest way to get over to the Cinemax movie theater, which was closest to their current location. "What movie do you want to see, Margie? I don't have a preference, either way....I mean, I guess I'd love to see the new Disney movie! I've been meaning to watch that for awhile, but, well, I'm fine with watching whatever you wanna see!"

The slightly younger girl beamed over at her best friend, squeezing her partner's palm. At the same time, she felt a little tingle of delight course through her. She always loved holding hands with Margie...or just being affectionate with her, in general. It was hard not to, after all! Margie was...she just made her feel so....giddy, inside.

Before meeting Margaret, Judith had never really been in love before. She'd realized when she was maybe nine or ten, that she was singularly attracted to girls. But she hadn't felt any honest to goodness romantic love for any of the girls she had ever found attractive. Crushes yes, but never anything more. She'd had a lot of crushes over the years following her discovery....and, w-well, it was embarrassing to think about now, but she'd had a really bad crush on her Social Studies teacher back in sixth grade. But...that's all they had ever been. Crushes. Simple childish fancies from when she had been too young to completely understand what real love felt like.

With Margie...it was different! It had started out as a simple crush with Margie, sure! But it had become something more over time. The green-haired girl had never been in love before, but she was completely sure that was what she felt for her Puella Magi partner. She was head-over-heels in love with Margaret Faust...a fact that equally delighted her and embarrassed her at times.

She just hoped that maybe, someday...Margie might return the love she felt for her.

Aolani

Aolani felt her heart beat rapidly inside of her chest, the blonde's face flushed horribly as she stared over at Chiyo...the purplette leaning forward, lips parted for a kiss. Her stomach fluttered in excitement, and after a hesitant pause, Aolani leaned over as well, her lips meeting Chiyo's own.

Aolani kissed her best friend (and now girlfriend?) once more, and an utter feeling of delight spiked through her body! She couldn't help but give another little pleased moan again, the biracial girl a tad embarrassed at making such a noise...but in her enjoyment of kissing Chiyo, she more or less brushed it aside.

The slightly older girl didn't pull back right away this time around, taking her time to enjoy her first real sensual kiss. Aolani almost felt light-headed, overwhelmed with delight and excitement, as she was! She positively radiated with joy, the young teenager becoming consumed by these unfamiliar, but welcomed, explosion of feelings!

Aolani leaned a little more against Chiyo, deepening the kiss. They'd been going at this for a good few minutes now, but the track star felt no urge to stop anytime soon, caught up as she was. And then, quite suddenly, her tongue darted from her lips, brushing up against Chiyo's own...seeking permission to enter her mouth.

The blonde seemed to come to her senses at this point however, a more rational aspect of her mind pointing out that, maybe, she was pushing things a bit far with just one kiss. Rather hastily, but regretfully, she finally pulled back, separating herself from Chiyo.

Her cheeks were tinged crimson, Aolani rather flushed as she sat panting on the bed. A nervous little smile spread across her face, and she giggled, rather unable to help herself. Despite the small amount of nervousness she still felt, though, Aolani felt extraordinarily pleased with herself.

"S-Sorry. I, um, got a little carried away there at the end, didn't I?" Aolani questioned, giving another giggle. "I-I guess I can't help myself, huh? I-It's kinda....hard, I guess, to, um, n-not break down and....ravage you on the spot, Chiyo. You're just so...cute and sexy! I just....heh, I k-kinda wanna do everything with you, now."

Aolani gave another burst of giggles, her face reddening further as her blush deepened. In any other moment, Aolani would be absolutely mortified at saying something like that. As it was though, the biracial girl was absolutely giddy with joy, and compounding that, her mind was rather fuzzy and her internal censor was pretty much out of commission. Hence, Aolani didn't feel too much embarrassment for saying that.

For now, at least. She'd no doubt be positively mortified, once she came off of her high and back to her full capacity.

Margaret

Hesitation to state preference born from politeness, this Margaret could understand. She was well-versed in social rules, even if she'd since forgotten the reasons for many of them, any Magical Girl that wanted to maintain a secret identity had to be at least somewhat capable in a conversation. You usually could tell how long they'd been around just by how well they still seemed to work within those rules. There were exceptions of course, Sarah, for example, had been around quite some time and had managed to get along fine with others. Then again, she never learned about Witches or Soul Gems. Margaret herself could qualify, if only because of how she clung to the motions, even if most had lost most of their meaning.

Judith could still be mistaken for a girl who'd just contracted, at least in terms of behavior, and, if the noirette continued to have a say in it, that statement would stay true for at least a year more.

"I wouldn't mind a Disney film." Margaret answered. She wouldn't either. She probably wouldn't be paying an excessive amount of attention to the film regardless of what they watched, mind you, but that didn't mean she wouldn't enjoy herself watching it with Judith.

She enjoyed most of what she did with Judith. Unsurprisingly, she liked Judith herself. She had, after all, restructured the entire Puella Magi system of Kalani Island with the end goal of preserving the girl's life and happiness. Actually, now that she thought about it, that sounded horrible. Something that couldn't possible be reciprocated or understood, partly because keeping Judith from knowing or understanding it was exactly the point.

Was she...? Was she, in trying to protect Judith, slowly putting distance between them, so that, even if she ensured they spent time together, they would slowly grow apart? She knew that her efforts couldn't be maintained forever for practical reasons, but...

This would warrant further thought, but not now. For now, she was going to be enjoying a movie, with her friend, like normal people.

Chiyo

It finally occurred to Chiyo that she had no idea what she was doing. Well, she knew what she was doing, but she didn't know what she was doing. She was kissing Aolani, she was aware of that, acutely aware of that, but even though she had been acting cool earlier, it was now all too clear to her that she actually didn't know what she was supposed to do.

She had only ever seen people kissing, and even then only in her games or in movies, or those bird-like pecks that her parents gave. She didn't know how it was actually supposed to be done, and she certainly had no idea what Aolani would like and she was going to be terrible at this she was sure.

But she gave it her best. And it certainly wasn't unenjoyable. Actually, it seemed the easiest way to proceed forward would be to just go with it. Okay, maybe kissing wasn't as difficult as she had originally thought.

The relationship itself though, that Chiyo was even less sure how to do. Not that she was opposed to it, mind you, if Aolani held romantic feelings for her, she was happy to accept them. If Aolani wanted her as her girlfriend, she would happily take that place. Romantic relations however, were a field in which she simultaneously had great and no experience. Sure, she had won the affections of countless 2-D girls, and like three boys, otome was not a popular genre, but Aolani was her first friend besides her brother. She was just really afraid that she'd mess up badly enough that she'd lose her, whether through some conflict or just things getting too weird.

But, as it now occurred to her,, she shouldn't allow that to trouble her too much right now, lest she bring that very thing about. For now, she should relax and enjoy herself, and again, there was a great deal to enjoy.

There was the proximity to Aolani, the feeling of her lips on her own, and those cute little sounds that she was making, that, after a moment she realized that she was mirroring. Then there was the sensation of Aolani's tongue and-

The blonde broke off abruptly, seeming to catch herself, blushing and giggling and smiling, and quite frankly the whole thing was rather adorable. Between this and their prior activity, Chiyo found herself smiling as well, though surprisingly enough blushing a bit less than the girl before her. This changed rather dramatically when Aolani spoke next. Chiyo really couldn't look her in the eye for a minute after she said that, and her face was flushed to an alarming shade. Even so, she still couldn't help smiling shyly and trying to mumble something in reply. "I, um, ah, I mean- I-" As always, Chyio was the picture of eloquence. After a few moments, she managed out "I'm happy to hear you say that."

Judith

"I wouldn't mind a Disney film."

Judith nodded eagerly at that, the junior Puella Magi humming to herself as she and Margie walked to the bus stop, hand-in-hand. They'd probably decide for sure when they got to the theater, but Judith was more than happy to watch a Disney film. She knew Margaret wouldn't care too much, either way...Judith had noticed her best friend seemed to defer to her own decisions, when it came to matters like these.

It bothered her sometimes, of course, but the green-haired girl had largely come to accept this aspect of Margie. It had taken her awhile to understand Margie's intricacies and quirks, but over time she'd come to understand that her friend really liked to please her and make her happy. Judith wasn't quite sure why this was (it probably had something to do with the fact that, as far as she knew, she was Margaret Faust's only friend), but she'd come to accept this status quo over time. Sure, it frustrated her a little now and again; she felt that Margie ought to express herself more often, and take her own initiative, as it were.

But, well, if Margie wanted to be that way, who was she to judge? Judith wanted to make her friend happy too, and if what made Margie happy was making her happy, well...

"I don't think it matters what film we really see though; as long as we see something together, Margie, and have fun, I'll be happy." Judith declared a moment later, smiling over radiantly at her friend, unintentionally echoing Margaret's own sentiments on the matter.

Aolani

Aolani giggled again, the blonde more than amused by Chiyo's stammered response. She was starting to gain more control over herself now, however, and so she managed not to tack on anything else that would embarrass Chiyo (and mortify her, later). Instead she looked over at the purplette, grinning over at her contently.

"We should have done this a long time ago," Aolani proclaimed, grinning sweetly at her new girlfriend. She leaned over, giving the more shyer girl a kiss on the forehead. She spoke up again, her words carrying a somewhat more...suggestive tone. "But, well...I guess we can make up for lost time now, huh?"

The ecstatic girl gave another series of cute giggles, still quite giddy and supremely happy with her current situation. She reached over, slipping her hand into Chiyo's, and squeezed the other girl's palm. "So...heh, I can hardly remember what we were going to do, now! Feels like we've been here....forever, hehe. S-so, Chiyo...what else did you want to do today? Besides, you know, making out."

Aolani issued forth another series of giggles, the blonde tickled pink by her own joke.

Aolani & Judith

The rest of the day passed by in a blur, and soon enough it was Monday, and the four girls were all back in school. However, after some texts were exchanged between Judith and Aolani, it was agreed that the two groups would meet together for lunch, to discuss more about being Magical Girls and, well, to attend Judith and Margaret on a Witch Hunt. An idea Aolani wasn't quite looking forward to, given what had happened on Saturday (which felt like a lifetime ago, almost), but still...it seemed necessary.

On the bright side though...Aolani herself still felt a bit giddy over the events of the previous day. If there was one good thing that came out of this reality-defying mess, it was the fact that she and Chiyo had become much closer over it. She felt more than a bit embarrassed about how, well...embarrassing she'd acted around Chiyo, in the immediate aftermath of their getting together. Sh-she'd said so many mortifying things! It was a wonder she hadn't died of embarrassment, when she'd regained full control over her mouth...

Still, it felt....incredibly good, to have Chiyo as her girlfriend now. They'd spent most of Sunday, after getting together, pretty sedately and quietly...hanging out at her home, going out to the mall (a different mall this time, of course; given the size of Kalani, there were more than a few malls established across the artificial island), and of course, making out with Chiyo more than once during the rest of the day. Though...

The blonde squirmed a bit in her seat, her face flushing a bit as she pretended to listen to her math teacher. In her...zealousness, she'd been surprisingly aggressive in kissing Chiyo, and, um, w-well...

....I-It wasn't all that bad! Th-the hickey was close enough to Chiyo's shoulder that her girlfriend should be able to cover it up with the collar of her shirt. Or so the track-star hoped. It had felt...really good and more than a bit naughty at the time, but now it felt rather embarrassing...and she really, really hoped Chiyo's parents hadn't noticed when the purplette went home that night...

At any rate though...with Chiyo at her side, Aolani felt a little more confidant about meeting with Margaret and Judith again. She knew her girlfriend still felt rather excited about the whole affair...after all, it was sorta like a dream-come true for her, wasn't it? She didn't feel nearly as good about the whole thing of course, but perhaps Chiyo's excitement would help to calm down her inner frustrations.

Aolani was lost in her thoughts for a little while longer, and before the fifteen year old knew it, it was time for lunch; the school bell rang after the third class of the day, and she and the other students of Kalani Eastern High School were all leaving to eat their lunch. Aolani already had hers ready, her Grandpa kind enough to pack her a lunch, so she headed over to the pre-arranged location she and Judith had settled on for their meeting. They'd agreed to eat together outside, in the small courtyard the school had. They'd eat at a somewhat secluded table in the corner of the courtyard, lessening the chances of anyone overhearing their conversation.

Aolani walked through the doors leading into the courtyard proper...though she didn't make a beeline for their table, just yet. She instead hung around the entrance, hoping to catch Chiyo before going over there. It felt more...comforting to her, if they walked together over there.

---------------------------------------------

As Aolani waited for Chiyo, Judith had already snagged their seat at the courtyard, the green-haired girl humming to herself contently as she waited for Margaret, Aolani, and Chiyo to arrive. Like Aolani, she had a lunch packed for herself as well (she'd been fixing her own lunches for school for a few years now, as well as lunches for Ruth as well), so she'd been able to make an immediate beeline for the courtyard to secure their seat. Hence, why she was the first one to arrive there.

All in all though, Judith quite looked forward to having lunch with her new friends! She always enjoyed eating with Margie of course, but it was an equally fund and exciting prospect, to eat with Aolani and Chiyo! She was looking forward to seeing them again, and was equally eager to take them out onto a Witch Hunt after school! Margie had had some reservations about the idea, but Judith didn't see the harm in it. They'd both be there to protect the girls if they were in any danger, and it'd be a good way to show them just what Magical Girls did! After all, they hadn't even seen Margie fight that Witch on Saturday, so it'd be a good learning opportunity for the both of them.

That thought in mind, Judith continued to wait for the three teens, a happy little smile on her face as she waited.

Yuubey

"Good afternoon, Judith." As it turned out, Yuubey was the first to join Judith at the table, hopping up onto one of the unoccupied seats. In its own way, he was as eager for this little outing as the green-haired girl was. It had been talking with Chiyo for much of the day, and this would be a good opportunity to give her and Aolani an idea of what they might expect from this business.

And Margaret wouldn't be a problem for a while, given the understanding that they'd come to. She'd try to verbally deter the girls still, it was sure, but she'd need to keep her efforts low key, or she'd have to worry about getting Judith wondering what was so bad about being a Magical Girl anyway.

Chiyo

Things had been interesting to say the least for Chiyo as of late. Her largely mundane and unchanging world had recently become almost unrecognizable in some ways. Indeed, she actually felt a bit like she was living in a different world altogether. It was almost as though she had stepped out of the real world and into an anime.

It wasn't bad, necessarily, but it did throw her a bit out of her usual rhythm. She'd been spending more time with Aolani, certainly, not that she didn't normally spend a lot with her anyway, and not that it hadn't been enjoyable, but she hadn't had much time to think things through. And the time that she did end up having had ended up occupied, due to a little bit of prompting, by thoughts on the offer they'd recently received.

It was nothing insignificant, even completely disregarding the whole "being a Magical Girl" thing. A single wish for whatever they wanted. Nothing was beyond its reach, theoretically they could have any one thing they wanted each, but Chiyo couldn't really think of anything to ask for, especially given the magnitude of the opportunity.

She'd lost Yuubey a few minutes ago, he'd been with her pretty much since Aolani and her had parted ways, so she finally found a few minutes alone to finally mull over everything. Which was of course what she was doing when she walked through the entrance into the courtyard.

Judith

"Good morning, Yuubey!" Judith cheerily greeted the cat-like alien, smiling brightly as she focused her attention on the Incubator. It'd been a little since she'd last had a moment alone with Yuubey; but then again, she had been pretty busy with Margie this weekend. "How are you?"

Unlike her friend, the green-haired girl was quite found of their magical girl mascot. After all, why shouldn't she be? Yuubey was the only reason her sister was still alive. For that, the Incubator deserved her gratitude, and much more! She really did wish that Margie would be nicer to him, though. She honestly didn't understand why her best friend had such an issue with Yuubey, at times. Maybe she found him creepy? That, Judith could understand; after all, the Incubator's bright red eyes were a little disconcerting.

Aolani

"Hey, Chiyo." Aolani smiled over at her best friend (and more, as of yesterday), glad to see her. They didn't share a lot of classes together, given the grade difference between the two girls, so for the most part Aolani only really saw Chiyo during lunch, at school.

"How are you? I heard Mr. Peterson passed out a pop quiz during his Math class...think you did all right?" the blonde further inquired, making a little small talk. She remained over at the courtyard entrance with Chiyo...not going over to the table to meet Judith and Margaret until Chiyo was ready to go over there. Perhaps it was a bit...selfish of her, but she wasn't exactly opposed to putting off the meeting, as long as she could.

Yuubey

"I'm well, thank you for asking. And how are you?" replied the creature. Conversing with Judith politely was far easier, Yuubey found, then with her partner. It knew of the factors involved that made it so, though it was still of the opinion that most of Margaret's anger at it was irrational and misplaced. But, with current developments it expected that the two of them could at least get back into the nice working relationship they'd had before he contracted Judith, the girl brooding, disliking it, but at least allowing him to go about his business unaccosted.

And on that subject, it had another inquiry to make. "Additionally, I wanted to ask your thoughts on these two girl's you're taking Witch hunting." And both of its questions were genuine as its tone suggested. They were not calculated attempts, as Margaret would have surely assumed were she present, at achieving any specific outcome, it merely wanted the information, and so requested it.

Chiyo

Chiyo, having been so engrossed in her thoughts that she almost jumped upon hearing someone speak her name, and indeed she did start, but quickly relaxed a bit upon seeing who it was. "A-Ah, hello Aolani." Her face brightened both in color and expression as she overcame her initial surprise and stumbling. "I'm okay. I think the test went pretty well." In all truth she wasn't completely sure either way. She was usually pretty good at school, but she had admittedly been a bit distracted. She'd been thinking a great deal about the events of the past few days, for a great many reasons.

"How have you been? Have you seen either of those two so far?" She wouldn't rush Aolani, understanding to a certain extent her friend's, well, perhaps it was girlfriend's now, hesitation. The blonde had seemed decidedly less enthused than she was about all this, indeed she had seemed like it challenged her concept of what was and what wasn't far greater than it had for Chiyo. That said, avoidance was unhealthy, and it wouldn't go away by ignoring it. Chiyo was hoping that, by being there by Aolan's side for it, and hopefully providing some assurance in being so, she could perhaps become somewhat inured to the supernatural world that apparently existed all around.

Judith

"I'm doing very well Yuubey, thanks for asking!" Judith cheerily replied to the Incubator, practically beaming at him. Making sure no one was looking in her direction first (it would be a bad idea to look like she was petting thin air, after all!), Judith then reached over and lightly patted the cat-like creature, running her hand through his rather soft and silky fur. Treating the alien being as if he really were a cat.

When he inquired about Chiyo and Aolani...well, the green-haired girl had to think about that for a minute. After gathering her thoughts, she slowly replied, "Well...I think Chiyo really has potential! She seems quite enthused about everything, and really eager, too! I think she'd make a great Magical Girl! As for her friend...I'm kinda worried about Aolani, actually. She seemed to really take things hard. Which...well, I don't blame her for that. I mean, I was super shocked when you first approached me, Yuubey!"

Of course, her shock had then faded away to joy when she realized she could Wish her sister back to life...but, well, Judith had Contracted under some rather unique circumstances. She'd never been all that much of a realist or rationalist, so discovering that Magic really did exist hadn't exactly shattered her world view, to be fair.

"I think they'd both make wonderful partners though!" the junior Puella Magi continued, a small smile on her face. "I mean, with four of us around, it'd be a lot easier to hunt Witches and Familiars! Plus, it'd be fun to have more friends to hang out with."

Of course, Judith was willing to hang out with Aolani and Chiyo even if they didn't Contract. She was always eager to make new friends...and even if those two didn't become Magical Girls, she saw no reason why they couldn't still hang out from time to time!

Aolani

"Oh, I've been....well, I guess. Almost fell asleep during Mrs. Robertson's class, but, well, that's nothing new." Aolani commented, smiling over at her friend (girlfriend? They really needed to, ah, speak about that). "And...no, I haven't. I mean, I passed Margaret by in the hall during Second Period, but the hallway was pretty packed so I didn't get the chance to talk to her or anything."

What Aolani didn't mention, just yet at least, was that she'd rather rudely discovered that she DID in fact, share a class with Margaret Faust. She'd never really noticed her before, but after this weekend...well, it hadn't been too hard to spot the stoic girl in her History class. That had been a rather...rude awakening, to say the least. They didn't sit anywhere near each other, but still, it had rattled her a bit.

Of course, her attention was drawn to...something else. Her gaze flashed over Chiyo's neck and shoulders rather briefly...and as such, the blonde felt her cheeks flush a little when she caught sight of the hickey she'd given her girlfriend the other day. The love-bite half-visible under the neck of Chiyo's shirt.

"You, uh, m-might want to ah, r-raise your shirt a bit." Aolani finally stated, blushing as she looked away. Sh-she really hoped it didn't take long for that thing to go away! As it was, it was....an embarrassing reminder of how, ah, a-aggressive she'd been the other day...

Yuubey

"I believe you're correct about the sudden change in perspective having a negative effect on Aolani." Yuubey replied. "Actually, she seems to be avoiding thinking on it as much as possible. Perhaps you'll have better luck with her than I. It sincerely hoped she would, figuratively speaking of course, hope too was beyond the direct personal experience of the Incubator beyond what it found in humans. The more keen everyone was on the idea of contracting, the more Margaret's hand would be forced, and the less likely he'd have to take one of the riskier routes to achieving his goal.

Chiyo

"Hm?" Chiyo inquired, insofar as the small noise could be said to be an inquiry. Even after glancing down, it took her a moment to figure out exactly what Aolani was referring to, after all her shirt was fine, only really getting it upon looking up and seeing the embarrassment on her face. Oh, right. Turning rather red herself, Chiyo quickly concealed the mark, reminding herself to keep that covered, and wondering just how long it had been like that. ""O-Oh, um, r-right, uh, thank you." Chiyo had been surprised, though not at all negatively so, to find how... enthusiastic she was at times.

Ah, but they had another engagement to be tending to, didn't they. "S-So, where were we supposed to meet them exactly?" she asked.

Aolani

"Oh...at a corner table, I think. Judith uh, gave me directions. We....should probably go ahead and meet them." Aolani finally consented, sighing a bit. She couldn't really put this off forever now, could she?

That thought in mind, the blonde finally left the entryway with Chiyo, heading into the courtyard proper to go and meet Judith for lunch. It took only a few minutes for the duo to find the cheery Puella Magi.

Judith

As Judith nodded at Yuubey, a thoughtful look on her face, she noticed the two girls coming her way. She smiled brightly at them, gesturing for the two to take a seat in the bench across from her. "It's good to see you two! Margie should be with us real soon, though if you two want to get started on lunch...that'd be fine with me!"

Margaret, Chiyo, and Yuubey

It didn't take very long for Margaret to join them, almost appearing at the table like the catlike creature she sat beside had. As she arrived, she offered to Aolabi, Chiyo, and even Yuubey her usual small polite smile. the one that never really reached her eyes, and a somewhat more genuine one to Judith herself. Once pleasantries had been finished and it became time for the serious discussion of the matter that had brought them together today however, her smile faded, and she glanced at Judith, as though to ask her to begin the explanation. It wasn't that she didn't have the details, indeed she had more than Judith did, but Margaret was well aware that the other girl was better at presenting them in a social setting such as this. Once it became time for the specifics and safety procedures to be explained, she'd speak up, for a number of reasons, but for the premise itself, Judith would be better.

Perhaps surprisingly, at least it was to Margaret, Yuubey seemed to have no input at the moment, content merely to sit at watch for the time being. And of course, given the circumstances, it seemed to have no worries about her having chosen the chair closest to it, in so far as it had the capacity to have worries at all.

Chiyo, for her part, stayed mostly quiet, sticking close to Aolani's side, particularly once serious discussion seemed imminent. She had interest in this endeavor, probably more so than anyone else at the table, she had, after all, missed the fight with the Witch whose 'barrier' they'd wandered into. Magic, monsters, wishes, and all that. Even with the weekend having passed, and with Yuubey having talked with her more since, the novelty of it had yet to wear off, even ignoring how closely it aligned with her interests anyway. Even so, she was reluctant to speak up just yet, half due to her own ignorance on the subject and a desire not to sound foolish as she had before, and partly as a result of her continued feeling intimidation from Margaret.

Aolani & Judith

"So!" Judith clasped her hands together, ready to take over the beginning part of the whole discussion, per Margaret's wishes. "If you girls are going to become Magical Girls, then you need to know what it's gonna be like. The whole Wish thing is great, but...this is serious business, you know. It's not all fun and games: it's a very dangerous job at times, and if either of you are going to commit to being Magical Girls, then you need to know what our job entails."

It was a surprisingly serious thing for a lighthearted girl like Judith to say, but it was the plain and simple truth. Judith took her duty as a Magical Girl very seriously; indeed, the circumstances surrounding her Wish had been a very serious matter, to say the least. Now, she'd very much enjoy it if Aolani and Chiyo DID Contract...but at the same time, she wanted them to know just how dangerous and risky it was. She and Margaret hadn't gotten seriously hurt thus far on their Witch Hunts, but they'd had a couple close calls.

"Now! Margie and I were planning on taking you two on a Witch Hunt. After school is over, we'll go track down a Witch, bring you with us into its barrier...and while making sure you two are safe, we'll take it out. It's the most simple way of showing you what we do, really." the green-haired girl went on. She glanced over at Margaret and Yuubey, waiting for either of them to take over from here.

For her part, Aolani nodded, following things readily enough. It seemed a...simple enough plan. And it would be a good idea to see just what these...'Magical Girls' did in their quests. She still wasn't sold on the whole idea, unlike her girlfriend, but at the same time it really wouldn't hurt to accompany them on a mission. It'd at least help them both decide if all this dangerous work would be worth Contracting with Yuubey, if either of them were inclined to do such.

Margaret, Chiyo, and Yuubey

"Now what you must understand," Margaret began, "is that even with us there to protect you, this will be an extremely dangerous situation You will need to stay close, and follow any instruction we give you. Even with this, however, I cannot guarantee your safety. If you still decide to accompany us, do so knowing this." The way she spoke the words was not harsh, but it was severe enough that Chiyo still shied away slightly.

The dark-haired girl glanced briefly over to Judith, before adding "I'm not trying to drive you two off," which was technically true, "but it's more important than I can explain that you realize the severity this matter." Had Margaret truly remembered what it was like to regard these maters as fantasy she might have been better able to explain her position, and the warning she was attempting to give, but, as it was, her experience over the past years were a key part of the way she thought.

Chiyo said nothing, but gave a small nod in reply. She couldn't fully understand the severity of Margaret's words, but she was certainly aware of it. For whatever reason the girl had, this seemed to be extremely important, and she wasn't one to protest taking things, even things as cool as this, seriously.

Aolani & Judith

It was a bit harsh on Margie's part, perhaps, but certainly true. Much as she wanted these two to become Magical Girls like her ad Margie, Judith knew that Witch Hunting could be extremely dangerous. She and her partner had had some close calls over their tenure as Puella Magi, and the green-haired girl didn't want to give any impression that this was an easy or tireless job.

"Margie and I will do our best to protect you two, of course!" the slightly younger girl was quick to assure, wanting to make that much clear. "You two can even bring weapons of your own if you want! I mean...unless Margie or I enchant them, I'm not sure it'd do much against a Familiar. But it would certainly help fend them off and give us time to help out."

Aolani frowned a bit at that...but then again, that was sort of becoming her default expression when it came to all this magical shit. It made enough sense, of course. So far, this all made a lot of sense. Still, something about this wasn't quite adding up in her mind. But what? "All right, I guess. That seems...logical. Out of curiosity...have you done this before? I mean, take prospective Magical Girls on Witch Hunts and all that crap. Are we the first, or were their others?"

The blonde wanted to know that much, at least. Far as she could tell, these two were the only Magical Girls on Kalani Island...which, in turn, made her wonder if there had been others in the past. Or if there had been others with potential like them, but had bailed out or...other things had happened. The way these two were talking, she honestly wouldn't be surprised if a Magical Girl had died in the past, or if some candidates had perished while on Witch Hunts.

"Hmm...." Judith tapped her chin thoughtfully, mulling the issue over. "I'm not sure about Margie, but I haven't, personally. I met Margie after I'd already Contracted, so she never had to show me the ropes, in that sense. What about you, Margie?"

She tilted her head, quite curious about that now, actually. Had Margie ever done this for anyone before? She...hoped the answer was no. The thought that her best friend and crush might have tried things out with another, prospective partner...well, it made her feel oddly and uncomfortably jealous.
