There was once a race of beings whose power far exceeded that of mere humans. They watched the humans for countless centuries, never revealing themselves. Eventually one of them named Source got it into its head that they should be the rulers of this planet. After the others told Source no, Source began plotting and soon killed the others. But, they did not go out without making one last effort. In their time watching the humans, countless stories of heroes and villains had been told. These Legends went beyond mortal men as they did acts of heroism and valor that would be told for all time. The others decided their effort should be left in the hands of these Legends by bringing them to life. Source prepared to squash this by “taking care” of the Legends, but decided on something far more interesting. Source used the same method the others used and gave physical forms to the Reasons. The Reasons these people fought were now brought into this world just like they were. Source planned to use these Reasons to crush the Legends and make them fall under its control.

Now stay with me here, the story begins in a high school. I feel some of you pulling away, but I really didn't have a choice. I needed something to pull the Legends and their Reason's together as a central point. Once everyone gets their intro post and maybe a few more out, the roleplay will quickly turn to a more open world, plot focused story. At the beginning you must be tied into the school somehow. Be it as a student, teacher, whatever. This goes for both the Legends and the Reasons. Whether the Legend is a teacher and the Reason is a student or vice versa, is up to the pair. You two can have any combination you can think of.

Legends takes place in Lawrence, a fictional city roughly one and one-half times the size of New York City. Lawrence acts as essentially the Capital of the World. With the Downtown area being built in less than ten years, the rest expanding rapidly in the past five. Due to the rapid expansion of the City, people from all over the world flocked to it for whatever reason thinkable. Lawrence rests on a massive island in the Pacific. The city itself is surrounded by many small towns and open areas which existed there before the City was built.


The Legends
The Legends are essentially normal people save for being created by those of the same origin as Source. They were born to families and lived normal lives for the most part. Since the Heroes never existed this is not reincarnation. They have been given the skills and abilities of a Legend more so than actually being the Legend itself. Their personalities also tend to reflect the Legend, which is why Source needed to give them their reason to break them more easily. They can be either gender, regardless of what gender the hero was from legend. So your character can be the real Achilles while also being female. The heroes don’t have to be fictional, but realize that the ones from fiction will likely be stronger just due to the lore surrounding them. Have their abilities reflect the person you chose. For Example, Achilles would be near invulnerable, extremely fast, strong, and proficient with spears and swords. At the beginning the Legends will be unaware of their gifts for the most part.

The Reasons
They are what the Legends fight for and desire. They are the physical manifestations of these desires and as such naturally draw their Legend to them. They were created the same way the Legends were. Except, while the Legends are strong enough to resist Sources control, the Reasons are not. They are designed to lure the Legends and allow Source to break them. Though, like the Legends, they are unaware of what they really are.

Relationship between the Legend and the Reason
Like I said, the Legend fought for the Reason. So, their Reason is the most important person in the world to them. It is why they fight, it is what defines them. Whether the feeling is love or whatever, this person is still most important to the Legend. The Reason can feel however they want about the Legend. The pair can decide how they act toward eachother and how long they knew each other prior to the roleplay.

Source
Whoever plays Source can change its name. Source brought the Reasons by unknown means. Source is an incredibly powerful being who looks to use the World as his Dark Vessel. Source can be considered an error, something that shouldn’t exist. When Source turned on those of the same origin as it, they created the Legends. Rather than simply killing the Legends, Source thought up the idea of bringing them under his rule and using their power to make his take at the planet far more easily.
