Name: Sohma Hayate
Age: 18
Zodiac: Dog
Appearance (human):
Appearance (animal):
Personality: Always excited, overly friendly, overeager, and to most of the zodiac annoying as all hell, he is the epitome of the hyperactive puppy. No one would ever guess: EVER: that he is older than both the rat and the cat, each of whom acts more mature than him in many ways. He is always willing to befriend pretty much anyone, and has never been very careful with his curse. He just likes to hug people, which causes a great deal of trouble for the rest of the Sohma family. He also likes food far too much; a very dog-ish characteristic. He would do almost anything for a piece of meat. He has actually been known to do tricks; it is rumored that both the God and the rat have him
very well trained. There is a joke running around the family, in which they refer to him as ‘the puppy’, and that ‘the puppy’ has not yet been ‘housebroken’. Further proof that the name fits; Hayate is still trying to figure out what they’re talking about.
History: Hayate is one of those rare zodiacs who is actually, honestly happy. His parents accepted him, raised him happily, and showered him with love. Many of the zodiac hate him, or at least pretend to, not only because of his cheerfulness, but out of jealousy. He had what they always wanted; parents that cared. The emotional strength of a pair of loving parents boosted his confidence to the point where is always, absolutely always, happy. The only time anyone has ever seen him doing anything less than grinning was when Riko went after him. That has only happened once, and he spent several hours curled up in a corner in dog form, whimpering in shock. He’d only been friendly, after all. But it hadn’t pleased Riko. No one thinks that this encounter affected him, and he doesn’t let it show, but is still frightened of Riko. He does everything he can to escape from the estate whenever possible, to get out of New Years celebrations, even to hide when Riko comes out of the estate to visit the zodiacs living on the outside.
