Introduction
This could not be sustained however, Even as the world’s problems gave way to technological breakthroughs and the various nations tried to negotiate a global peace, some powerful and hidden shadows pushed the world toward the brink once more. This came in the form of both the UWP and NAC trying to stir revolutions in the nation of Japan. Exerting economic pressure on the remaining states of the EU and by their attempts to buy Liberty out with technology and power; however, none of these proved successful, so to bring the world into open war, the shadows sent the “Letters of Conflict”. These two letters were sent to the heads of state of both the UWP and the NAC, claiming the cabinet of Liberty had sided with the opposition and that any moment a declaration of hostilities would be announced, followed equally swift with a declaration of war in the form of a preemptive strike. Though these letters were secret and kept from the public, they started the largest conflict ever seen. As the nation of liberty was now assaulted from both sides, and the rest of the world, plunged into war soon afterward.
The nation of Liberty was not one of fools, and was not without its armaments and preparation for war. For years the primary mode of combat had been the Zeus units all the nations used. Robotic units of decent size they were simple but powerful machines, and cheap to produce. The newer weapons were known as Frames. Larger and more powerful, frames came in main variations, but they were mass produced war machines that still lacked cutting edge technologies. Even so, as the war at Suez began, these were the primary objects of the battlefield, and they were deadly weapons. Liberty, strong as it was, could not hold out in such a state, and with its much smaller forces (though better trained and equipped with newer Frames) was swiftly pushed back. Mass evacuations to Station One had most of the citizens out of the line of fire in a matter of hours, but the military was unable to hold the lines for longer than a few days. As the lines collapsed they found themselves stuck with nowhere to run, and soon the NAC and UWP where fighting each other before each line. This sparked global conflict that spread to all but the other neutral nations, but for Liberty it was far too late. All they could do was holding out until the public was safe and evacuated. This is where YOUR story, YOUR war, begins…
Who will you fight for? Who will survive? This war is one of global conflict stirred by politicians, and with the secret letters now a catalyst any of the sides can win. The Neutral nations can’t survive forever, and with the two super powers soon to push into space only one will remain. You decide who that will be.
Frame types used by the governments:
Zeus: A basic walker and cockpit unit without arms. Able to hold immense loads, while not flight enabled or able to be flight enabled they can have the strongest of cannons and are the only Mechs which high energy Plasma weapons are currently available for in regular amounts. They are the basic units used by the two super powers UWP and NAC and are in mass production around the world. They are very hard to destroy in ranged combat. They can be on tracked and wheeled bases and can be armed with howitzers, cannons, machine guns, and even blade weapons. The primary melee system is the SLASH (Singular Launch Attack Shuriken Harness) systems.
Unit I: these are the first humanoid frames and are the basis of the Neutral Alliances’ forces. They have a simple design much like those mechs used in MechAssault. They are able to use many mountable weapons and even have a few Plasma weapons available to them. They are not flight enabled but can be modified to have Jumper systems. These mechs are essentially ground troops and are best in a squad format with midrange to close range capabilities. The Sniper versions are equipped with massive cannons and bracers that fold down to brace the unit and hold it steady for continued fire.
Unit II: Approx 60ft tall, these are the newest humanoid mechs of the UWP that are only used in Spec-Ops. They are specifically designed to be fast moving and are completely humanoid in shape with the cockpit in the middle of the chest cavity, they are able to carry many kinds of mid range rifles and blades, and even are fully Flight capable if modified. Very few of these units are outside of the UWP but a few have been captured by the NAC and are being toyed with and modified to be used for their newest aces. The Liberty version of this Frame type, called the Duo, is piloted by one peson and its targeting system is opperated by another called the Nav-Pilot or Navie.

Horus: Approx 40 ft tall, these units are the true speed demons and melee combative of the UWP forces. They are humanoid but have a large box cockpit that extends out their backs (Code Geass style) they move via tracked feet and they are standard with Jump systems that can be extended to Flight systems. These have not been captured yet and are only available to the UWP Spec-Ops teams.

Nexus: These are the most advanced units and have only been seen a few times in combat. They are fast, brutal and by far the most flexible frames out there. They are all flight enabled and each one has one other feature, an A.I. personality that is based on the pilot in a way. They are only presently available in the Neutral Alliance, but after they were seen by both the UWP and the NAC in the battles for Liberty the other nations are starting to speed their experimental proto types into battle.

Other/ Artisian: there are several small corporations that build mechs for mercenary companies and the super powers have their own flight enables Prototypes that are similar to the Nexus but do not have the A.I. system. Basically, anything thats not one of the above is an Artisian Mech

Note*: Technology is plasma, ballistic, and particle base. Plasma has limited range but Particles are far different. Particle weaponry is electrons super-heated and compressed under an electromagnetic field to be used as sabers or projectile beam weapons. Particle shielding is a layer of the particles in a semi-solid to solid form that deflects their particles. Ballistic weapons penetrate particle shielding but depending on the density of the shield can cause less to near no damage. This uses a lot of energy. High mobility units have limited shield abilities when also using particle weapons. If a shield is up and surrounding the whole unit the Frame cannot attack.
No, you dont need a mech to play in this game, as wars are won on and off the field. Any questions please PM me.

The base is on an up cropping of land which lies west of the canal. The base consists of ten hangers and three administrative buildings, as well as a large set of two walls that have sections topped with large Artillery and Anti-Air guns. The buildings are arranged in a basic L shape with the hangars all on one side, along a run way. The three hangars at the base of the angle are the largest, each clearly containing a large cargo like aircraft. The other hangars are taller but less wide. A few scattered “Chicken Walkers” (the basic form of Zeus units) and a few Farms are seen moving about the base. As the camera pans from the sky it comes to a lower pan to show a slender black spire that is endlessly tall (the elevator)
Scene shifts to a basic crew lounge, where several people of various genders are seen talking to one another and just relaxing. The camera focuses in one group of ten people, six of whom are playing a game of cards while another three watch. The last stares out the window at the far western horizon.
Crew member who is playing cards; “Damn it, nothing again! I fold…”
Crew member who is dealing; “he he, you just have no luck, I feel sorry for James, he is your nav-op after all.”
Crew member standing behind other player put him in a head lock; “That’s right, after all if you mess up Duo I die too!” others laugh and the one in the chair tries to tap out.
One of the women who is seated playing leans back in her chair to rest against the window and looks around toward the man who has had his back toward the camera and is looking out at the horizon. In the back ground we see one of the players show their cards and shout out “Royal Flush!” The dealer yells in response, “What! We aren’t even playing that game you idiot!” the woman smirks and looks back toward the man staring out the window and addresses him, “Captain?”, then looks out the window herself. Camera pans to look out window as well, he see a dark wall of cloud on the horizon. Several bright flashes of yellowish light are seen. “Hmmm, big storm, look, it even has lightning.” Group playing cards looks as well, but everyone is still giggling from the prior events.
“It’s not lightning…” the man in the window says. At this the whole room goes quite, several of the people who were around the table gather near the window. “Those are muzzle flashes… Roux, contact the hangar, tell them to have our units prepped, rest of you gear up!” he orders. Screen goes black.
Briefing 1
“Well, we knew this was coming eventually, and it’s not the first time you’ve been in combat. But, that should mean that you’re well aware of the fact that this isn’t going to be easy. When you get to the supply crew in the hangar the crew chief is going to give you a quick over few of some of the new features. Your piloting a Frame that is equipped with special boost properties. And your unit has the newest array of weaponry. Your mission is to guard the base while we move the squad of the X-01 Frames out of here; those units are the most important thing this base has. We need to get those units out of here and to the Anchor Base so we can send them out of the nation to the EU. That’s why we are going to full sortie; your primary directive is to hold the enemy off for ten minutes, enough time for us to get the units loaded up. You and your squad will be our front line units, you’ll be up against almost 35 Zeus class and 15 other Frames. This is a large force of UWP soldiers, and finally the catch comes into play. The enemy forces are an advance unit that have the support of 5 Volcano Artillery guns, these things are at the back edge of the combat zone, and will be raining hell on us from afar. I’d actually suggest you hit these first, and hit them hard. Take them out first and fast then get back here with the hope that the bases auto defenses are still holding. Assuming that’s still the case hit the enemy in tandem with your squad. You can issue them orders following the briefing, and if you so desire, order a full frontal or flank assault instead of the plan I mentioned. Your choice really, but remember; ten minutes at least, otherwise Liberty will fall before we can save the people. That is all Captain…”
Mission 1
As the squad mounts up a large explosion rips through the ground just outside the hangar Gabriel’s squad is in. Gabriel calls out, “it’s time to move” and the four machines to his left move off, finally he too moves out onto the front line. The last thing seen before the unit is sent into battle is one of the planes being loaded with several large canvas covered trucks.
OOC Notes
Elrich glanced out as he heard the name. Years of perfecting his fake identity meant that he responded to it just as well as he could respond to Elrich von Richt. It was almost as if he wasn't disguised as the nonexistant Vincent van Matteus; he was Vincent van Matteus. "All very well, Sergeant...those trucks must be containing our target," There was no trace of an accent in Elrich's voice as he spoke English like a natural; he had spent years getting rid of the accent as well. "Rainier's squad will attack their base directly, something of a diversion. Keep the Frames stationed there busy. Alles's squad will accompany Beria's squad to rout the Frames that are on the move. I'll take on the Frames escorting the trucks, and then Alles, you get your squad back here so we can remove the target back to the UWP.
A series of affirmatives passed through the comm system, and a number of Frames began moving off. Elrich allowed himself a moment to consider it. They were after a powerful weapon Liberty had created; some kind of revolutionary mech. Elrich's corp had been dispatched. The 'Red Corp' as it was known was a collection of some of the UWP's most talented and skilled pilots; a force to truly be reckoned with. But none came close to the Red Menace, the Red Demon of the UWP, Vincent van Matteus--Elrich von Richt himself. Only Harbinger Heirarch had ever been able to defeat him, back when he was a student at Hates academy, and even that was only in the beginning. Hierarch had betrayed the UWP, and though Elrich had liked the 'Old Dog' and respected him, Elrich had to cement his loyalty to the UWP; it was key to his plan. In the case that Hierarch was actually stationed here, Elrich would have to kill him.
The Rot Sieger, the infamous red Frame of the Red Menace, began to boost in the direction of the trucks and the Frames accompanying them, drawing out a beam saber and the experimental beam rifle as it did so.
OOC Notes
He stuck at the first Zeus he saw, only becoming visible to it at the last moment, at that range the unit should have used whatever melee it had but it didn’t and instead fired two rounds from a cannon at Gabriel. Gabriel let the two rounds miss, he had the advantage at this range and so he activated his main sword and drove the blade into the unit’s generator. It collapsed and Gabriel used a jump booster to move away before the explosion. He had gotten a good look at it and had taken a picture with his mech to review when in safe zone. Figuring he had a good chance now he looked at the picture carefully. He knew that insignia from the Zeus, “Men, don’t let your guard down, these guys are the elite, the Red Corps.” He informed and continued to attack two more Zeus before heading for the front of the smoke, he knew if these units were here that meant his old student was here too.
He slowed as he came to the front of the smoke, still hidden. He raised his plasma cannon at took aim. His target was the Unit I that was placed just ahead of him. He fired and hit the jump button at the same time, soaring into the sky he flew from the smoke, no longer where the shot had originated, his plan had work. The Unit I was down and his comrades were firing at the point where the beam had originated. This was his chance, as he cleared the smoke he switched to full visuals and took aim at the line of Unit I’s before him. Carefully he squeezed off three rounds, each aimed for a different mech. The first tore through the Unit I on the right’s cockpit. The second through the next Unit’s leg, and the final one missed the third Unit by a few inches. “Damn, missed one." He realized then that the calibration of his gun must be off, he had to be careful of his ammo. Activating his sword he advanced to finish the kill. The edge of the blade began to vibrate are high speed and was turned into a high frequency saw because of this. He would cut through that machine without wasting any of the valuable plasma he had reserved. “I’ll need it if He shows up.” He said to himself.

Elrich watched the situation on his radar. Rainier's squad had run right into the smoke and encountered enemy forces. They were being hit, and hit hard, but they were holding up well and inflicting good casualties. Alles and Beria's squads were doing well, though they were currently being hit on both sides. Elrich gave a shrug. They could handle it. These were the UWP's best, the only pilots to be worthy of Elrich's leadership. They were Elrich's enemy, but for now they would be doing as he wished.
Elrich moved out into the area around the base. It was clear that it would be impossible to recover the target undamaged, so Elrich settled for the next best thing--the data. All he had to do was get the data, drag out the battle until reinforcements would come to act as cannon fodder while he was finding the data...simple. Just as he thought that word, a familiar Frame came into sight. "Ah, Gabriel," he gave a sigh. "Pity. I didn't want to have to kill you." He fired two shots off the beam rifle with deadly accuracy--one aimed for the head, one for the torso, before dashing into the smoke, his position now completely unknown.
OOC Notes
With the disaster averted he could now turn to his true objective, the artillery. He saw the five guns not but 750 meters ahead, and knew he had to go for it. He hit the thrusters and slowed his decent enough to land hard but safe on the ground, then went to work. Drawing one of his waist mounted blade, the longer one, into his left hand and taking aim with the gun on his right arm he hit the jump boosters and skimmed the ground, covering the distance fast. As soon as he hit 500 yards he would fire one round at the nearest target while moving ever closer, he needed to get into close range to stop those guns. He was still about 450 yards out though. Also, something about the red Horus earlier left him feeling a sense of unease, and nostalgia.
OOC Notes
As if to warm up, the Rot Sieger turned around suddenly to a Liberty Unit I that was preparing to fire off a few machine gun rounds--the Rot Sieger was invisible in the smoke. Elrich took aim and fired a beam straight through the torso of the Frame; his target information screen informed him the pilot had been completely vaporised by the beam. A pity. Elrich didn't care whether they died or not, as long as they were over and out of his way. He returned to his main target: the Old Dog. The Rot Sieger swept through the smoke, and once again popped out into clear vision. The Rot Sieger, the trademark of Vincent van Matteus, was now clearly distinguishable. "Evening, Gabriel..." he murmured, linking a comm system to Gabriel's Frame just as he took aim once again and fired a beam right at the Old Dog's cockpit before disappearing back into the smoke. "I hate to have to kill you, but it's necessary. You'd understand if you knew the truth."
OOC Notes
Gabriel smirked and looked to his left at the screen in time to see the Red Horus come out of the smoke and fire off its next volley. “Yes Flay, I'm aware that it’s him and huh,” he stopped mid sentence as he listened to the communication from his former student before he fired. He smirked and watched the beam shot fly, plasma and beam weaponry moves much slower than other forms of ammunition and so he had plenty of time to show the student who was still the teacher. He hit is legs left thrusters and reversed direction. His Frame was incredibly agile and so when it cart wheeled to the right and brought the back edge of its leg down wouldn’t be a surprise. However, the fact that the plasma beam was vaporizing would be. He had brought his units ER thruster down on the shot and the mixture of the two particles had caused the beam to rapidly disperse and splash over the Frame with little to no force, merely heating up the exterior. This little trick was a new one he had discovered only weeks ago in a training accident but he was plenty please to show his old pupil a thing or two. He switched on his unit’s loud speaker and decided to add insult to injury by letting Vincent’s whole squad hear him get told off by his old professor.
“Don’t piss yourself kid, I’ll deal with you when I’ve got the time.”
With that he hit the jump button on his Frame and launched high into the sky, letting his momentum carry him to being within range of his targets. Several guard Unit II’s were firing their cannons at him, but he would just ignore them. However one of them raised a rocket and took aim. And while his shield was plenty to stop those small caliber rounds the missile would tear right through him. He prepared to doge when a long red beam pierced through the smoke and cut the Unit down from afar. Gabriel had just enough time to see the Green Horus with the massive sniper cannon at the end of the path it had carved through the smoke before it vanished as the cloud returned. He nodded to the Frame. It was Duo, his other old student from the Academy that had followed him to Liberty and had been known for his long range capabilities. “Thanks old friend, be careful around your old classmate, he’s not one to show mercy.” Gabriel advised.
(this is the sniper Frame)

“Don’t worry about me Teach, I can handle myself.” was the response the other pilot gave before he clicked off the comm.
Gabriel chuckled and turned his Frame to face the artillery now each within at most 350 meters from him. He took aim as his Frame began to lose altitude and fired off two shots, decimating the first gun while his left arm drew three disks that it threw at the second cannon. The disks started to glow pink in flight as they began to coat themselves in plasma and soon cut through the barrel and magazine of the gun. “Two down.” He said as he landed before several Unit I and II’s and flipped his main sword forward and took a stance behind his shield. “None of you are getting anywhere near my Daughter's Frame.” He said on the loud speaker, and charged toward his opponents.

"We're being hit hard, but we're holding out. These guys're no match for the Red Corps," Alles replied with a hearty chuckle. Elrich nodded and continued. "Rainier, status?" A moment later, Rainier's voice responded, "We may need some backup down here soon...there's a bit too much for one squad to handle."
"Very well, I'll get to you as soon as I'm done handling a little pest problem..." the Rot Sieger blazed down the battlefield after Gabriel. Elrich glared around, looking for his old mentor, when suddenly a red beam tore down the ground right next to him. "Ah, Duo, is it. Good to see you again," Elrich spoke conversationally, casually, as if he had just met an old acquantance at a cafe. "Well, I kind of need you to get out of the way..." He fired a beam right Duo's cockpit, and then followed it up by dashing forward and stabbing his beam saber into the cockpit as well. As Duo's mech crashed to the ground, Elrich followed Gabriel just as fast as the Flay was moving, and caught up to his old mentor. The Rot Sieger grabbed the Flay's arm, and began pulling on it, with enough force to rip the arm off. Meanwhile, the beam saber swept down on the other arm.
"I don't think so, Gabriel," Elrich murmured calmly. "You see, I'm quite fixated on killing you."
OOC Notes
Below, Gabriel saw the sniper round destroy the other two guns and drove his main sword home into the last one before jumping back and turning to check the battlefield. Looking back and hoping to find Duo there he instead saw the Rod Sieger on his rear camera and grunted as his Frame was grabbed. He heard the voice of the student and his face went from a slight grin to a serious look. He connected to the chat and saw the face of the old student, allowing Vincent to see him. “Are you such the lapdog that you’d attack a neutral nation for the hell of it?” he asked with anger in his eyes. The pressure on his Frame’s arm was all the answer he needed. But in his eagerness Vincent had grabbed his Frame’s right arm. He hit the gun button and the sword folded back, still running onto the Rod Sieger’s fingers, slicing them off and releasing his mech. He saw the beam saber that was drawn and he hit the left command stick. He raised his shield and let a layer of Plasma jell over the surface; the plasma intercepted the beam sword. With another flick of the command stick he extended the shield and knocked the blade and arm away. The smaller sword on his left hip flipped forward, its blade producing a layer of plasma that cut through the first layers of armor (the blade was not long enough) forearm of the Rod Sieger’s arm that held the beam saber. He let his right leg slide back and clicked the button for the right arm to raise and take aim. “Why are you fighting?” he asked over the comm. line before hitting the jump jets and flying over the Horus to return to base. He had received the withdrawal code and knew he had to purge the base before he could leave, though as he caught sight of the first plane leaving the runway he let out a sigh of relieve, his Daughter’s Frame was now safe. He also realized he hadn’t incapacitated the Rod Sieger, a mistake he felt he may regret.
OOC Notes
As Gabriel burst into the sky, Elrich gave another smirk. "This is not over yet...your aircraft is not safe just yet." The Rot Sieger's hand moved to the small of its back, where a Raketen bazooka hung. It detached the launcher from its back, and placed the targetting pad to the Rot Sieger's face. "And..." A missile boomed out of the Raketen's launcher after one of the transports. A second later, the transport burst into flames, and fell to the ground. "Eh, that wasn't the targetted one, good....back to our old ally."
Elrich followed Gabriel into the air, and began sweeping the ground for his old ally. "You made a mistake in sparing me, even though you wouldn't have been able to destroy me," Elrich said into their mutual comm link as he spotted Gabriel below. "You never were the ruthless, merciless type...you're more suited to owning a family bakery than being a military man, Gabriel. Why don't you just retire, find yourself a nice family, and live a good life? If you had, I wouldn't have to kill you."

With those words, the Rot Sieger's hand suddenly dashed forward, and with brute force behind it plunged right into the Flay's chest, right above the cockpit, so close that if Gabriel looked up he would be able to see the Rot Sieger's hand right through the armour above him. Elrich had not tried to make a warning against Gabriel. He had gone for the kill, and only the damage to his shoulder had led him to miss. "Ah, a pity...but you can see I mean business, Gabriel." He pushed the Flay away from him, and boosted into the air, the Rot Sieger's boosters aimed right at the nearly exposed cockpit, dousing surface of the torso of the Flay with flames. "I'm not afraid of you, because you can't kill me. And we both know it." The Rot Sieger boosted once more into the air. Elrich knew it was not certain that Gabriel had been killed by either the Rot Sieger's hand or the flames, but he had more important things to attend to now.
OOC Notes
“I’m sorry, truly I am. You should have been on our side boy, then you could have lived.” He said as he let the unit fall. He turned after a moment and raised the gun, control restored to his unit. He fired once, destroying one building, he fired again, destroying the next. He pulled the trigger a third, but nothing happened. His unit was out of plasma. “Damn.” He said as he started moving toward the last building, his sword whining at a high frequency. He couldn’t leave the data behind. He raised his sword. And his cockpit slammed shut.
At that moment a shell landed in front of the Frame and detonated. If the cockpit had been left open longer Gabriel would be dead. Flay had noticed the enemy reinforcement approach and had shut the door to protect him. He knew he didn’t have any time left, but he wasn’t going to leave this data. He went again to attack, and this time a missile hit his right arms, damaging the blade. It stopped vibrating. “Shit, not now.” He said in desperation. But as he tried again a female voice called out, “It’s over, we lost.” Flay had taken over and hit the thrusters, the Frame jumped high into the air and hit full. Soon the Frame was in full flight, accompanied by a small jet.
Duo’s voice came over the comm. “You did it sir, you took down their ace.”
“No Duo… I didn’t”
“Sir?”
OOC Notes
"Major van Matteus?" an uncertain voice spoke over the commsystem.
"What, Rainier." an irritated voice demanded. "Well...er, I take it you're unharmed?" Elrich sat back up a bit. "Yes, unharmed, though I very nearly got a free haircut there, good thing he didn't aim any lower. I like my hair at its current length." Rainier's voice replied, "Even after such a close brush to death, you still have the gall to crack jokes...I'll never understand you, Major van Matteus." "You're not the only one, Rainier...trust me," the Rot Sieger straightened up. Most of the damage had been wreaked on the torso, though minimal damage had been done to the arms. It began to move, somewhat sluggishly at first, but then at its usual swift pace, towards the last standing building. "Link to the mainframe of that warehouse," Elrich commanded the computer smoothly. If there was one thing the Red Corps admired about him, it was that Elrich never lost his cool, never got angry or panicky. Within, however, Elrich was furious. He had failed to crush Gabriel. Technically, it was a draw, but not to Elrich. A draw wasn't enough.
The security firewalls of the warehouse have prevented access. The words appeared on his screen. Elrich began typing, and various bar graphs and numbers suddenly appeared on the screen. "Excellent, I have the data," Elrich murmured. He switched back to the Corps comm system. "Alright, mission accomplished, let's get the hell out of here."
As the Red Corps began moving out, Elrich smiled bitterly. A victory for the UWP. Furthermore, a victory for Elrich von Richt. The Nexus data was his.
OOC Notes
‘Where is CSM Kingsley, Sergeant?” Gabriel was tired and as he put his foot into the rest on the cable and lowered himself down he saw the small crowd of mechanics gathering around his battle scared unit. He had looked for his crew chief but couldn’t see him in the pack of people. It was then that it struck him; his crew chief may have been on the second transport. Though most of the base personnel had fallen back in ground vehicles the higher-ranking staff and the Nexus units were removed by airlift. Kingsley was the senior enlisted of the base, and may have been on the transport.
“Well um, ya see sir he uh-“
“He’s right here,” came booming deep voice of a large dark skinned man behind Gabriel, “Good to see you alive Colonel.” The man saluted along with the rest around Gabriel.
Gabriel faked a smile and saluted back before moving forward and shaking the CSM (Command Sergeant Major’s) hand. “It’s good to see your alive Kingsley, who else made it?” Gabriel asked glancing around at the many unfamiliar faces, he saw one here and there that he recognized, but most of them were unfamiliar and young. He only saw enlisted from Artemis, and here and there he could also make out a few pilots who were there two, though most of them were Warrant Officers.
“It’s not good sir, seems you’re the only commander that made it out of there alive. Captain James made it half way but his machine had been heavily damaged, when we finally got here and opened his cockpit we found he had died of his injuries and his Frame’s Autopilot had guided the unit here.” The man said as he waved a few men toward the Flay, these men immediately got to work assessing the Frame’s condition, “The entire command staff was on the transport plane that Horus shot down, and the squad leaders for the most part fell in combat. You’re the only one left now sir, and it appears that you didn’t make it out of there on skill alone.” He said indicating to the cracked crystalline shell that the Rod Sieger had driven its fist through and the Right arm sword, which was missing most of its upper half. “He put up one hell of a fight; if I didn’t know better I’d say he was Vincent van Matteus, the UWP’s top ace.”
“That’s exactly who it was,” Gabriel remarked, though Kingsley honestly didn’t look surprised, “Where id Duo and the rest of my squad?”
“They’re up on C-Deck, waiting for a debrief I think. Your squad managed to come out of there with all the pilots intact,” Kingsley whistled as he got a damage list handed to him by a young private, “Wish I could say the same for your Frame, this is gonna take awhile.”
Gabriel said thank you to his crew chief and started walking toward the main building. It had been some time since last he had been here. Anchor base, the most powerful fortress in Liberty. If the Red Corp, or anyone for that matter, wanted to assault this place they were going to need a lot more firepower. For one thing, several forts still stood between both sides and this base, and for another the whole area was within the firing range of Station One’s cannons. The Liberty forces were ordered to fight until their bases were on the brink of defeat, then gather up all experimental data and scrub their bases before evacuating here to the Head Quarters of the Liberty government. This place was massive, and each base from the outer line had its own whole area here to store their units and personnel. In this way, even if the nation faced this kind of strike by anyone, they military would remain for the most part stable.
The lift that Gabriel stepped into had no buttons on the wall, instead it read his I.D. code and after he spoke the words “C-Deck” began to move to the upper floor. It was here he had started all of this. With a meeting with the President and all, his daughter volunteering for the Nexus project, all of it. He had crossed the border as a defector from the UWP, and was arrested moments later. Though he had legitimately left the UWP, the government had “suggested” that he remain in the country after his retirement. However a tip off from an old friend in the military informed him that the government was planning to have him killed, not wanting a man of his knowledge to be left unchecked. To escape this he had crossed the border illegally and was caught soon afterward, but when the Liberty forces discovered who he was, they decided to offer him a job instead of deporting him.
He was surprised when the lift slowed and came to a stop one floor below his targeted deck, in honest he hadn’t really thought about the number of other people who must be here on the base, with Liberty’s forces falling back every minute. Still, the face that he saw when the door opened was not an unfamiliar one; it was actually the last face he had seen that he knew besides those in the hanger. “Duo, I see you’re doing well.” Gabriel said casually.
“Uh, Colonel, hello sir I trust you’re doing well.” Duo stammered as he hastily made to salute.
“Oh please Duo, can’t you be less formal?” A feminine voice spoke from the other side of the door. Gabriel almost couldn’t believe his ears, a girl who had to be only 20 or so entered the Lift and smiled at the Colonel; she didn’t salute, despite being clearly a lower rank, and instead hit Duo upside the back of his head. He dropped his salute and rubbed his head with a whence. “Seriously, I’d think the love of my life would have a bit more backbone then that when it came to facing my dear old dad.”
“Mar-Maria” A shocked Colonel looked from Duo to his daughter, Maria Hierarch, and back. He knew they were dating, had been for about 7 months now, but he was sure she had been evacuated to elsewhere. Her hair was golden and long, save for the three strips of silver that fell back along her smooth hair. They were the only indicator that she had been in the Nexus program. Duo had a similar strip along the left side of his head”
“Come on Maria, you can cut me some slack there, you didn’t see what he did to Vincent, I don’t want to be next.” Duo joked. Gabriel was again reminded of how that fight had gone down. So many had said “Good job taking down the Ace.” But he knew full well that Vincent was alive and kicking. Besides he was too busy trying to keep Maria from beating the cap out of Duo for being such a pansy on the way to the squad room that he couldn’t really pay attention to all the congratulations he got from passersby. It was big news, the two Aces’ of the war had faced off, and though they both knew who had really won each side would herald their soldier as a hero.
When they got to the squad room Duo and Maria went in, but Gabriel hesitated. A thought had occurred to him and he answered the confused looks of his men by saying, “I need to submit my report, I’ll see you all later.”
“Wha-“ was all Maria said before the Colonel shut the door and headed back to the Lift. He had some digging to do.

"And I'm glad to note I did the same to his," Elrich muttered at the aide as he entered his wing of the Kreutszat Base in former Germany. Kreutszat lay in just near the still broken ruins of old Munchen; that was the reason the Red Corps had its base there, the reason Elrich had chosen Kreutszat. It kept his goals close to his mind, and close to his heart. He turned back to the aide and flashed a smile. "Kindly inform the mechanics that I'll need them onto the Rot Sieger fa--"
"I've already taken care of that, they're on their way."
Elrich turned to the side in the direction of a hall leading out of the hangar; walking down the hall was a woman wearing an officer's uniform of the UWP. Her face, however, placed her not as a westerner but as someone from the Democratic Empire of Japan; a defector. "Glad to see you've come out alive and unscathed...again," she continued with a smile on her face, stopping in front of Elrich. "How you manage to come out of a mess like that," she gestured at the Rot Sieger with her head. "completely unharmed is a mystery to me."
"Hatsu," Elrich nodded, as if in respect. He waved off the aide, as if informing him he was no longer needed; the man quickly scurried out of the hangar. "I'm glad as usual to be back in one piece as well, I assure you," he grinned, leaning against the Rot Sieger. "Unfortunately, from what I hear, the Red Corps is getting mobilised again as soon as the Rot Sieger is in shape."
Hatsu raised an eyebrow. "And I hope I'll be deployed as well?"
"If it's at all up to me, certainly," Elrich shrugged. "I'd have wanted you to accompany us on this mission too, but the higher-ups didn't seem to like that idea."
Hatsu said nothing for a moment, and then spoke up. "On another note, anything about that data for the new Liberty mech?"
"Got it all right here," Elrich dug a hand into his pocket, and withdrew a small, keychain-like card. "I would have preferred the mech itself, but once I plug this into my computer I'll be able to supply my mechanics with all the information they need. I think they'll be able to configure the Rot Sieger itself, there's no need to build an entire new mech for this system."
"And I take it you're not reporting this finding to the higher ups...?"
"Oh, definitely not. I'm keeping this data for myself."
Hatsu shook her head with a smirk. "You're the only person who could flat out state to me he plans to break the rules without me immediately reporting him. I don't know whether that's a good thing or not."
"Trust me," Elrich said, pushing the sunglasses higher on his nose. "It is. You'll see soon enough."
At that point, the sound of footsteps approaching alerted Elrich to the arrival of the mechanics. Sure enough, a dozen or so soldiers in UWP uniforms entered from the hallway leading into the base, followed by the lead mechanic, who approached Elrich and saluted. "Major van Matteus...Captain Nanashima..." he looked up at the Rot Sieger and whistled. "Good god, Major van Matteus, that looks like someone just sat there and beat at it with a mech-sized club." he turned back to Elrich and shook his head. "And not a scratch on him..."
"Sergeant, is the new weaponry package ready?" Elrich inquired as the head mechanic roared orders out to his team.
"Ah yes, the new weapons," the man smirked. "Yes, they've been a roaring success, some pilot in the Spec Ops team tested them out. We'd have given it to you first but you were already on your way to Liberty by that time. The package includes a beam assault rifle, and we've worked out the kinks in the beam saber technology. Should be installed and ready by the time this mech is ready for its next operation."
"Thanks," Elrich nodded before turning back to Hatsu. "I assume you'll probably be getting the upgrade too? Must be rather boring sticking to ballistic weaponry."
Hatsu shrugged. "I prefer ballistic, really. More reliable. And anyway, I'm not worried about accuracy or precision. The whole point of the Mutsuza is to go in, take out the enemy before they know what hit them, and be out of there."
"Well, it's up to you," Elrich replied, motioning for the head mechanic to return. "I'll be in the command quarters," he informed the sergeant. "You may be getting some data from me, I'll need you to look it over, see if you can implement it into your repairs. It's an order five from the higherups," he dropped his voice to a mutter; order fives were to be restricted to certain personnel, and no one could discuss them with uninvolved parties. "So keep it secretive. Get back to me after you're done with it. Hatsu, we'll need to attend a conference concerning our next operation, so we should probably get to that." They saluted the sergeant, and left the hangar.

“Sit please, there is no need for that formality Gabriel. “ Michael said as he indicated to the chair in front of the desk. The desk faced the doorway, and the semi-circular glass walls were positioned behind Michael. “You don’t need to salute me anymore, you’re one of the last surviving officers from Artemis and you protected the Nexus Frames. It seems those deeds have earned you a promotion to ‘full bird’ Colonel, congratulations.”
“Well, I’m grateful of course, however I can assure you I don’t deserve that. Sir,” Gabriel paused and saw the man on the other side of him wiggling his finger at him, “uh- Michael, I didn’t manage to destroy all the data on the Nexus Frame, this could be disastrous.”
“Don’t worry Gabriel; the President himself has reviewed the data they stole and isn’t worried about it.”
“But sir-“
“All they got was the introductory synopsis; they know it’s a Frame made for high spec maneuvering with armor centered on the cockpit, and that it is equipped with a support A.I. meant to be compatible with the pilot. All of this is basic, and the A.I. is only 50% effective unless they knew about the buddy system, which they do not. That is why they have decided that your victory there is promotable.”
“Wait, that’s all they got?” Gabriel asked. He had been certain that they would be able to get all the data if he left even one terminal on-line.
“Yeah, that Command Sergeant Major Kingsley is the one who managed to cut the hard lines before they got there, that meant that each terminal was isolated, they only got the data from one so no worries. Jeez, you’re really uptight Gabriel.”
“Can’t help it, it’s a time of war right now and there is nothing we can do about it, those damn letters we heard about might have started it, but you know that it’s not going to stop just because they were discovered to be fake.” Gabriel said, the man on the other side of the desk frowned and leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk and his head in his hands.
“You’d know better than me, you were in the UWP, that this war won’t end until Liberty is gone.” Michael was fully aware of the situation, as were all the higher ups of the Liberty forces, they all knew the truth. “Liberty is finished; it’s only a matter of time.”
Gabriel nodded and stood, walking over to the windows he gazed out at the city below, and the canal next to it, slowly growing smaller and smaller as the lift rose to the station above. “I’d say we have 4 weeks until they reach visual range from Anchor. At that point the people must be evacuated in the remaining two it will take them to reach this base. I’d also suggest that we prepare to move the military to Sicily, and,” Gabriel turned to look Michael in the eye, “that we initiate the Collapse Plan.”
Michael breathed out slowly, then turned back to his desk, removed a cigarette and lit it, taking a long drag. “So, Colonel Gabriel, what will you do now?”
“I think I’ll head to Germany for a bit,” Gabriel shrugged as the office began to go dark, it was sliding into place along the lower element of the elevator, “There is someone there I need to see.”
“Well, travel as a civilian first, if you’re going to Infiltrate a base like that you’ll need a good cover identity,” Michael reached into his desk and pulled out some paper work in a file which he handed to Gabriel, “You’re running out of favors you know that, if the General knew what you were doing and why-“
“Then we’ll just have to keep it from him won’t we.” Gabriel flipped through the files and smirked, “This will do, thanks Michael.”
“Try not to get killed.”
“Yeah, keep an eye on Maria and Duo for me won’t you.” Gabriel said as he exited the room into a large lobby, five minutes later he was speeding up the last 20 kilometers to station one and boarding a shuttle to Station Two in the EU. Once there he took a train into the ruins of Munich, and from there headed by jeep toward Kreutszat Base.
OOC Notes
Five people were seated at a stark, metal, rectangular conference table in the middle of a cold, bland room. On one side of the table sat Major 'Vincent van Matteus': Elrich von Richt; next to him, second in command of the Red Corps, Captain Hatsu Nanashima. Across from them, Senior Lieutenants James Harrow and Alexander Zurich. And, at the end of the table, Commander of the Liberty Front, General Minerva Ken; her severe, cold eyes examined her subordinates. All were silent for the moment, waiting for General Ken to speak. At last, she did.
"Your capture of the Nexus data was quite well done, Major van Matteus," her voice was harsh and commanding; it demanded respect and obedience. "Enough so to warrant a promotion, but that will require General Groge's approval as well as mine. However, we are not yet concluded with our operations against Liberty. I understand someone did great damage to your suit." Her eyes narrowed on Elrich, who remained calm and unharried.
"Indeed so; further proof that we should not underestimate the enemy, General. They have skilled pilots, and from what I could see from my battle against their ace, luck is on their side as well." The Senior Lieutenants gave a chuckle, but were silenced with a stony glare from General Ken.
"What you say is true," she said, returned her cold gaze to Elrich. "In fact, some of our best have betrayed us to join Liberty. To those cretins, those filthy, worthless traitors, no mercy must be shown. They must be crushed out with maximum brutality."
Elrich nodded in agreement, and General Ken continued.
"An achievement this was, for the UWP, but our ultimate victory is yet to be claimed. Your next operation will ensure our success on the Liberty Front. As you have requested, Major van Matteus, I have given permission for Captain Nanashima to participate in this operation." she turned her glare to Hatsu, who glanced away. "Consider this a final test of her loyalty to the UWP." In all Hatsu's time in the UWP--a couple of years--General Ken had never trusted her, suspecting Hatsu to be a NAC spy.
"Aren't you a bit too excited?" Elrich said with a smile as he and Hatsu made their way back to the Command Quarters. Hatsu was dancing around down the hall--she seemed more like a happy young woman than a battle hardened soldier.
"Too excited?" she said, as if the thought was simply ludicrous. She stopped dancing around and simply walked alongside Elrich. "This will be my first major operation. If we manage this, Ken won't have any reason to distrust me anymore, and then..." she paused, growing serious. "Then I'll be placed on the NAC front. With you and the Red Corps, of course," the smile returend to her lips.
"It's not so simple," Elrich replied. "Ken's one of the hardliners in the military. They don't want anyone from other nations in the military. If Ken had her way, you wouldn't be here. She's a military genius, and she knows how to run the military through fear, but she sees things in black and white, and misses everything else."
"Groge isn't any better," Hatsu said with a frown.
"Groge is an incompetent fool who only got into the military through family connections. There's always been a power struggle between Groge and Ken, and their factions. They say it's a stalemate, but Ken's going to oust Groge eventually. It's only going to take one more slip, one more mistake from Groge, and Ken will be able to remove him from power and completely take over the military."
They had reached the Command Quarters; Elrich slid a card down the side of the door, and then pressed a finger to a scanner beside it. It beeped once, and the door slid open, allowing Elrich and Hatsu to enter.
"I'm going to my quarters to see about any updates to the Mutsuzu," Hatsu said, walking past Elrich towards one of the doors lining the wall. "I'll see you later, Vincent."
She pressed a finger to a scanner, and entered the room; the door slid closed, leaving Elrich on his own there. He gave a sigh as he made his way towards his own quarters, and sat at his computer. Hatsu was the closest thing Elrich had to a friend in the UWP; no, at all. And he was worried about that, worried that Ken may have realised their closeness, worried that she would use it to test Elrich--worried that someday, Elrich would have to choose between Hatsu and his mission.
OOC Notes
“Aw, got called in to upgrade the Red Corps huh?” He said after verifying the information on Gabriel’s fake badge.
“Yeah, something like that, heard that Ace of yours got his Frame torn up though, probably gonna stick me working on that.”
“Well, good luck, everything checks out.” The man waved Gabriel through the gate, soon after he parked the Jeep at the command building and headed in. On his way through he saw a woman in a pressed uniform walking by on the other hall. Luckily that woman was looking at a chart, which was handed to her by one of her attendant, had she looked up at Gabriel’s face she no doubt would have recognized hi in an instant. General Ken, Gabriel knew here well, she hated him for defecting and would have killed him then and there (or tried to at least). Gabriel however was smart enough to just stand aside and salute, though his other hand grasp the base of one of the knives hidden in his sleeves, and avert his eyes. Still, before looking away he caught sight of the clipboard and could recognize the basic info on the Nexus project. He also saw her turn down a hall and head for away, though he didn’t know where.
“Hmm, didn’t salute back… as cold as ever Minerva,” Gabriel mused to himself before heading on. He had been here once before and knew how to get to the officer’s quarters assuming they remained in the same place. A turn here, a door there and soon he found himself at the first door into the officer’s quarters. He pulled out a hidden card and swiped it, then pressed his thumb to the scanner. “Lieutenant Hiko Borges, Pilot reassigned to the Red Corps.” Gabriel joked as his information came up on the screen, he had hacked the base and created this identity on the shuttle flight over, and used the one Michael had given him at the gate. He entered the hall with many doors headed down it and carefully walked down the hall to the back edge of the corridor. There he found the door marked Major Vincent Van Matteus, he scanned another black card and heard the doors down the hall click as they locked, then opened the door into Vincent’s room and drew a pistol from behind his back.
“Hey there Kid.”
OOC Notes
In less than a second, Elrich's hand was on his pistol, sliding it from its holster. Then a voice accompanied it, and Elrich turned to see Gabriel standing there. "Well. Unexpected, to say the least," Elrich said with a smile. There was no trace of surprise on his face, however; his eyes, blocked by the sunglasses, showed nothing. "I'd ask how you got in here, but since you're already here I suppose there's no point. Did you come here to kill me?"
In a nearby room, Hatsu was checking over the update schedule for the Red Corps. She heard the sound of voices, and she quickly stood from her computer.
OOC Notes
Gabriel knew full well why Vincent fought. He didn’t know his exact reasons, or his past, but it was clear as day that the man fought for vengeance, not for recognition. Though only someone who had killed more than their fair share of people would be able to see it.
OOC Notes
At that moment, there was a knock at his door, and then Hatsu's voice. "Vincent? Are you there?"
"...excuse me, Gunnery Sergeant," Elrich said calmly, before speaking louder. "I'm here, Hatsu, I'm just discussing the Rot Sieger's repairs with one of the mechanics."
"...okay," Hatsu still felt somewhat suspicious, but if there was one person she felt she could trust, it was 'Vincent van Matteus'; she returned to her room, and Elrich turned back to Gabriel.
"Anyway, as you were saying..."
OOC Notes
“Don’t trust your subordinate? Or is it that you care for them?” Gabriel was sure that Vincent knew he was prepared to kill if he had too, was this his way of protecting someone?
“Either way, I came here to find out your true intentions. After all, I know you didn’t try to kill me out of loyalty to your nation, after all that was not what drove you in school, so what is it?”
OOC Notes
"Anyway, I didn't know my intentions were of such great interest to you," Elrich continued. "Well, my intentions are merely to perfect myself. I felt that killing you would have allowed me to gauge how close I am to that goal. So our last battle shows that either you've rusted a bit, or I've gotten better. Or perhaps a combination of the two.
OOC Notes
He pulled a chair out and sat down, leaning against the door, “You know as well as I do that battle was equal, save for our intentions. You were trying to kill me, though I wasn’t trying to kill you.”
“And please don’t lie so bluntly to me, you’re not doing this for ambitions of rank, you’re doing it for something else.” He was suddenly stern, knowing that he knew Vincent now better then practically anyone. ‘I know you better than that, Kid; after all I have fought you not once but several times. You normally kill or are killed, but the more you fight someone the better you understand them, and I dare say I’ve fought you more than anyone else.”

Re: [OOC] Machines of War
As the detonation failed a airship was crashed into it and caused it to fall. The resulting damage has left both the UWP and NAC without communication and most likely in a bit of disorder. As for the remaining Liberty Military they are aboard a sky carrier. As for current players and actions you have Gabriel, Tarkus, and Lukas on board the carrier. As for Dominik he is making his way back to the UWP controlled side of the city with his damaged Zeus. The NAC I have no clue on as no one has made any posts with them giving any details on their actions.
Hope that helps you out on joining in on the story. I’m sure Elrith or Elloit can give some more details on what is going on.
Re: [OOC] Machines of War
I was just doing searches and thinking up my guy and the kind of mechs that the people under his command use. I'm all a tingle in excitment >:3 I'll get right on it.
