Mass Effect: Fear

Mass Effect: Fear Open

It's MASS EFFECT and it's a roleplay. You know it deserves one while we wait for the MMO. Maximizes player freedom and minimizes friction with the canon. This is, of course, a fan fiction. All rights go to [url=http://www.bioware.com/]Bioware[/url].

Introduction

All rights go to Bioware
Mass Effect. Fear.
(You may want to listen to Adam Freeland’s Mind Killer while you read this. This was written to the nearly 11 minute long mix from area 5 of REZ called Fear if you want to get the true feeling of it. Youtube it and make sure it’s something like 10 minutes and 55 seconds, there’s another mix of it out there that is also from a REZ soundtrack CD called “Gamers’ Guide To REZ,” that’s not it. Youtube)
Setting.
The battle of the citadel was won. Sovereign, and their puppet, Saren Arterius, have been destroyed. The Heretics have retreated. The tank-bred Krogan soldiers have been eliminated along with the cure for the genophage. The council was saved. One more thing. Shepard is dead. Cerberus is hard at work tinkering at what remains of Shepard, still trying to figure out what’s flesh and what is hardsuit. Project Lazarus has a long way to go. Disjointed branches of Cerberus move in dark corners of the galaxy, conducting devious experiments. The healing process has finally begun for the Citadel. The Rachni begin to rebuild in secrecy, preparing for the day they can right the wrongs of their mothers’ soured songs. Clan Urdnot moves to unite Tuchanka. The Quarian migrant fleet rings with hushed speculation over a possible move to retake the homeworld. Rael Zorah begins taking risks using data brought home by his daughter and the debris she now sends him. Every day, more people are hurt for the sins of their kin, be it Batarian attacks on Humans, Krogan attacks on Turians, or general conflict with the Geth. Reports of human colonists going missing have been waxing. Worse still, Silently drifting closer to home, is a malevolent power mentioned in myth. Their servants are already here, hiding beyond the Omega 4 relay and moving among us, wearing our faces and hiding behind known threats. Monsters are coming to harvest us all and the only one who understands, the only one who can DO anything about it is dead. Only SHEPARD faced the servants, only SHEPARD opposed the monsters, only SHEPARD toppled a god. Why? Because only Shepard heard the Protheans’ cries.
But wait! Hold the phone! Au contraire!
It’s true that Shepard is the only one who came in contact with the beacon, but its psychic message was broadcast throughout the galaxy. Thousands of seemingly completely random people experienced the very images and emotions experienced by commander Shepard. Based on reported hallucinations, the spread of the signal has been mapped and clocked as travelling at speeds of 23,298,611,111.111c without the use of any sort of mass accelerator; exactly how is unknown. In the span of ninety earth days, the Prothean distress broadcast had covered the entire galaxy. Of the thousands of people who experienced it, very few imagined it may be more than a trick of the mind. A few clever souls tied the experience back to doomsday myths of their people, and their horsemen of the apocalypse. These eccentrics, these believers, these fearful ones now scramble to prepare for war with forces unknown.

Where you come in.

We, the Fearful, do take upon our backs the burden of understanding
And carry it from here to the end;
Resigning ourselves to the compulsion to fight,
Not from a sense of duty
But the struggle against the sensation of helplessness.
And although we have not met, and though we might not yet,
In time we will be close as blood.
So take up your spear in hand
And in the other take mine
And together we will march towards that unknown destination,
The beating heart of Fear.

- Unknown Volus poet, published via extranet 1 month after the events of Eden Prime.
Whether or not you heard the beacon, whether or not you believe the Reapers are coming, a revolution is happening around you. Where do you stand?

~*~*|~*~*|~*~*|~*~*|~*~*|~*~*|~*~*| HOW IT WORKS |*~*~|*~*~|*~*~|*~*~|*~*~|*~*~|*~*~

This Roleplay is designed to give you maximum freedom within a timeline that portrays the Mass Effect Milky Way as we most prominently know and love. Too many roleplays have tried the “After Shepard changed everything” approach. Make your character(s) based on the following sheet. There are no concrete rules on what you can be. You can fight for the galaxy’s survival, your race, your beliefs, your agenda, your revenge, it doesn’t matter. The beacon pulse is just an excuse to let select others know about the reapers and try to fill commander Shepard’s shoes.
If you have a well-funded organization behind you, that trusts you enough to support a wild-goose-chase like Shepard’s, it will afford you a ship and freedom. Not to say it’s the only way. You could also be backed because you have your own “Saren” to hunt.

Godspeed, good hunting, may your enemies be strong enough to keep you sharp, a prayer for the wicked, and keelah se’lai.

NOTE: BEFORE I GET ANY MORE OF THESE CHARACTERS - Guys, seriously, your characters are repeatdedly looking like the Macho-Man space-marine silent-protagonist archetype that overpopulates the futuristic FPS genre. No more of that. Look at the girls! ...or at the moment, the one girl's posted prfile. It doesn't center on where her training came from or what she can blow up, or who she defeated, or WHAT SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED. Your characcter can be ripped, and toned, and have noteworthy training, but no more of this ridiculous expression of their gamer statistics and how they are super strong and fast and can use any weapon. This is a Roleplay. The combat situations aren't affected by your statistics, only your creativity. The stronger your character is, the shorter the combat segments are. Kaboom, they're dead, I win. I've had to send at least 6 "please rework your character" PMs at this point. we're all just characters in the Mass Effect times. not necessarily super-soldiers. Also We already have a ton of stealth characters, including a ninja or two. PM me about making an original stealth class if you want one.

Update & notes - All updates will be underlined within the body of the form or written here if they are miscellaneous.
- Don't forget to put down a description of your Loyalty ability and a description of your loyalty outfit. The loyalty outfit will correspond with crew colors, so captain's choice.

To get a better emotional sense, try to post song & artist names that inspired you posts/character(s). You could also post whatever you think would fit it more.

Name:
Most races have a Given name and a Family name. Krogan have Clan name and Adopted name. Hanar have Face name and Soul name. Volus have Given name and Clan name. Quarians (I bet you know this one by now) have Given name, Family name, particle, and Vessel name. Synthetics have no name with the exception of Reapers who have their own names (I.E. Nazara). AI networks occupying a single platform will temporarily adopt a metaphorical name much like a Hanar soul name, when working closely with organics who are incapable at communicating at the speed of light, such as Legion or Sovereign. VI platforms, such as power loaders and other utility mechs have model numbers, network numbers, and registration/serial numbers. Organics would most likely refer to them by their Network number. Don’t forget to list code-names and Alias.

Race:
I won’t name ‘em. You should know them. Just go for it. Employ any sentient race you want, just please try to make them realistic to each culture. If you want to make a Reaper character, be sure to operate through an avatar, like Harbinger’s power over the collectors. It might be fun to have some Reaper adversaries and indoctrination could bring us some cool drama. Since Sovereign was supposed to be the only vanguard Reaper in the Milky Way, we don’t want too many reapers making personal appearances without a proxy. Oh, and please no Yahg characters, they are quarantined. Oh, and Raloi. Not enough data. Beware of racial combat limitations. There’s a reason you don’t see all races in combat. Now if you excuse me, Blasto is on.

Gender:
Most races have some level of sexual dimorphism. Asari, Rachni, Collectors & Hanar are unisex. In speech, Asari & Rachni are referred to in the feminine. Sex is not applicable to Synthetics. Synthetic voices (such as Hanar vocalizers, public service Vis, and mechs) can sound more masculine or feminine.

Age:
How long your character has been alive, active, undead, conscious, what have you. Earth years is fine, most garden worlds have comparable year lengths. You should already know the approximate life-span for each race. Reapers’ ages are indeterminate.

Appearance:
Pics are nice, especially when you make ‘em yourself. Non required. I’ll draw OCs if you want. I’d really love to try a group pic when we get enough characters and things.

Affiliation:

Organization(s) your character associates with. Cerberus, Aliance, Blood-pack, Council, Team Rocket, Decepticons, OZ, Planeteers, Rebel Scum, Horde, etc.

Rank/Position:
Rank within organization. Asari Matriarch, Krogan Warlord, C-sec Detective, Batarian Terrorist Leader, STG Commando, whatever. Who do you answer to? Who calls the shots and decides where you go? If you want some serious freedom, go with spectre, or justicar, or something with license to blow shit up. Keep in mind, regardless of the freedoms you have in your own culture, you will likely not have the same rights in others. Remember, if you are high enough rank, you need to assemble your own crew. If your captain is out of commission and you become the ranking officer, leaders & vessel owners reserve the right to assign their own chain of command, regardless of previous official rank. Take care to assign crew functions, such as medical officers, science officers, engineering officers, helmsmen, yeomen, navigators, gunnery officers, psychiatric councilors, village bicycle, maintenance & service (confectionary/janitorial) crew, equipment specialists, first officers, etc. For vessel owners, I will be posting ship specs and suggestions.

Class:
You can get inventive if you want. If you make up a class, tell us its focus and its special ability. If you’ve come out with a 3,000 year old Rachni Death-knight, you’ve done something wrong. There are plenty of commonly known classes for whatever race you selected out there, if you’re feeling conservative, or just lazy. For example, Asari are often things like, Matriarchs, Huntresses, Justicars, & Commandos. “Level 87 Krogan Red-Mage!” No! Shut up! D:< “Drell Sith apprentice?” *sigh*

Spoken Languages:
Languages your character can communicate in and/or understand. If not both, note which. If you can speak it, odds are you can understand it as well, but not necessarily the other way around. In this RP, the omnitool’s translator is limited to pre-programmed vocal-aural languages and is only about as effective as a fancy modern online translator. This is to say it occasionally stumbles over grammar and such. Remember, GSTL (Galactic Standard Trade Language) is there for you, use it or have another means. Sign Language, Binary, Brail, Morse-Code, Bar-Code, Semaphore, Spanish, whatever. Some Terminus-based Batarian colonies have boycotted GSTL and will only speak in their mother-tongue. Other cultures have very intricate forms of communication that the standard, unmodified omnitool would not pick up on. Things like pheromones, body language, telepathy, bioluminescence, inflection/tonal intricacies, melody, and other things. A little off topic, but if left unfiltered through a translator, the Prophets’ sermons (from Halo) sound like Gregorian chanting. I think this may be a bit like how the Rachni hear their own words. How Fucking Cool Is THAT? List languages as the number of common or uncommon dialects of a race (I.E. 4 prevalent Asari languages).

Weapons:
Now we’re getting somewhere, right? I expect one or twoish weapons plus one heavy weapon (go ahead, make ‘em up), but I’m flexible. Everybody’s gonna’ list the Carnifex and the Widow, right? It’s fine, no penalty for being uncreative. I want the Widow, myself, but it can only be wielded by the sturdier races & modified ones. I think the Phalanx is kicking more ass than the Carnifex, right now. Knives and swords and such are cool if your character can for some reason show up at a shootout with ‘em an’ come out with the same number of holes. Also a good place to take inventory of your utility belt. You know, grappling-hook, smoke-bombs, batarangs, rocket boots.

Known Tech Talents:
Tech talents your character will demonstrate or has demonstrated. Got an idea for a new tech power? Go for it!

Known Biotic Abilities:
Biotic Abilities your character will demonstrate or has demonstrated. You come up with something cool, but not godly unbeatable, I’ll be all for it. Synthetics are incompatible. Only biotic focused classes are powerful enough for the big stuff. For example let’s only see someone who is as trained or gifted as a Matriarch use things like telepathic thought-sharing.

Bio:
Motives, origin, and that. Avoid things like last survivor of Krypton or bitten by a radio-active Thresher-Maw, out to avenge the death of pet turtle. Habits, hobbies, vices, interests, online-dating profile all go here. Be sure to mention if you know someone who heard the Protheans’ call. Non-leader characters will have recruitment & loyalty mission(s) that make good opportunities for character development. Leader characters, of course, don’t have either, but they are free to fit autocentric missions into their itinerary. For drama’s sake, ask many questions of other characters, even if you might know the answer. I also support inter-player character romances. Don’t be afraid to make up names of artists your characters like or something. You can base them on existing artists to give us a feeling. Little details about your vision are useful. It was the little things that made some of the characters very sexy. For instance, every male player with a male Shepard went for Tali because of her cute accent and the adorable girl-next-door learning to soldier-up way about her. Every player with a Female Shepard went for Garrus for his plagued cowboy nature and because, well… he looks great in sunglasses and black leather dress-shoes.

Rules

Mostly the common sense stuff. We're kind of lax.

Science-intensive. Get all your sciences right, such as physics, chemistry, energy sciences, xenolinguistics, xenobiology, xenosociology, xenoecology, xenoeconomics, xenopolitics, and any theoretical sciences straight.

Pay careful attention to the example text in the character generator. It's all important information. And double check you complete bio when you're done. get a lot of issues with the language section making sense.

Careful about making the same macho-male, stealth-class, elite-squad, human-cyborg, Reaper-experiment, Quarian-outcast, space-marine-archetype character we all know and love. Not so much a rule as a guideline. We're all guilty of something and those of you already in, don't sweat it. I always make obnoxiously improbable ninjas, anyway.

Oh, right, new protocol. If you are moving from place to place in a single post, make a post in the location where you started then put a "continued at ..." mark then make a new post there starting with a "Continued from ..." mark. Sorry about this being new. I had no idea it would be a Tab RP in the first place and I didn't account for how it would work. I think in the end, this is going to be a lot more interesting.

# Quarantine, 2011-06-25 19:54:58, as written by Sneakyrio
Mayce sat in his cramped quarters on board the "Quarantine", bouncing his head along to the beat of "Vega Z"'s latest song. He had just downloaded their newest album and had been listening to it for the past 3 hours straight. As he did this, his in-human eyes skimmed across the text on a holo-pad. He was reading a novel by the Asari author Kimyra. She usually wrote mystery novels, but this was here first adventure-romance novel. "Matrix&Lia'Raan: The Star Crossed Codex" was the title of the book. So far, Mayce had enjoyed it a great deal. He was about half-way through the book and was intrigued by the idea of a Re-programmed Geth and a Quarian falling in love while saving the migrant fleet from a Turian pirate fleet. He did feel a little alienated though, pirates being the main villains and him being a pirate.
Nevertheless, he continued to read while moving his body to the music.

He was just getting to a climactic scene in the story, when a very deep voice sounded over the intercom. "All officers on deck. Repeat, all officers on deck!" announced the disembodied voice of Forvel, the first mate. Mayce gave a dramatic sigh and retracted the holo-pad and set it down on his nightstand and shut off the music. He stood up and stretched, he could hear a few criks and clinks from his body and when he was satisfied, he shook himself out. Mayce threw on his shirt and began to wrap his hands and arms up in the black strands he always wore. After that, he strapped on his namesakes and threw his coat on. Mayce then bent down to his drawer and opened it to reveal his nanoweave armor. He strapped on his boots and leggings and was finally out the door.

Mayce strode down the hall in his fashion towards the main deck. Several members of the crew passed him on his way, some of the Batarians on his boarding party tilted their heads to their left when they saw him, showing their admiration and respect. He gave them a large grin and a quick nod. They simply smirked and stayed on their path. He knew it was weird for a pirate to smile so much, but Mayce never could help how much he smiled, he just felt it was appropriate in a lot of situations and he knew it eased tension.......and occasionally cause it, but, he didn't care much either way. Mayce finally made it to the main deck, he waited for the large door to unlock and slide into the adjacent walls, then he stepped inside and took his place among the other officers. He engaged in light conversation with one of the sergeants he was familiar with, until Dralak stepped up to his seat. Forvel took his place next to him, he was never hard to spot in a crowd, the missing upper right eye was a dead give away.

"Shut up, you piles of Varren shit! The Captain is on deck!" Everyone had already went silent the second Forvel started to speak. Dralak gave him a nod and began speaking. "Alright, we are going to be docking at Omega in about 5 minutes. We're going to be here for awhile for repairs an re-fueling from our run in with those Alliance scum. So, we are giving most everyone permission to go ashore and spend their credits and get rid of that itch, if you know what I mean. That means, I need all of you to make sure your men behave themselves, I don't want to lose more men to Aria. We lost enough in our last tango and we need every man we have. So if any of them get out of line, just break something and send them back to the ship as an example, got me?""Aye aye, sir!" Everyone sounded. "Dismissed." with that, everyone went towards their rooms to prepare for Omega. Mayce turned around and headed for the door, then he heard Dralak's voice sound behind him. "Mayce! Not you, I need to speak with you." His captain said while lighting a cigarette. Mayce looked back, confusion spreading onto his face.

Mayce walked briskly towards his captain and stopped when he was at an appropriate distance. "What's up, Captain?" He asked in his chipper way. "Shut up, wipe that smile off your face and open up your robo ears. What's up, is a job I need you to do for me. I have come to understand that awhile back you did some legwork for Aria. I need you to deliver her a package, and then do whatever she tells you to do, as long as it is concerning this specific package. You got me?""Yes, sir." Dralak leaned back in his chair and took a long drag on his cig. "Good, I want you to bring four of your men with you, but you approach Aria alone, just make sure they are ready to back you up in the club should the need arise. Now you're dismissed." Mayce nodded to him and headed off to the barracks.

When Mayce arrived at the barracks, he poked his head in to see some of his men already in their black armor with the White outlined black north star on the chest. They had apparently heard about leave time. He pointed to four of his men. "You, you, you and you are with me. We're going to deliver a package to Aria."

# Omega Downtown, 2011-06-28 17:58:01, as written by Anonym0109
On streets of downtown Omega, young Korlu Prayal picks himself up off of the ground.
“HEY! *gasp* WATCH WHERE THE FUCK *gasp* YOU’RE… *gasp* forget it.”
It was too late. The cyclist that knocked him over was already out of earshot. The respirator he needed to survive always made efficient communication impossible. It was as though he didn’t see Korlu in the first place. …Or was it she? It happened quickly and Korlu always found it difficult to tell the Turian sexes apart. It was even more difficult due to the worm’s-eye-view he tended to have in the claustrophobic streets of Omega. Not many Vol people actually took up residence on the station and Korlu could think of many reasons why. Alas, he lived here with his uncle, for reasons he could never quite describe.
Korlu brushed himself off and patted down his pockets to make sure nothing was missing. Though young, he was rapidly learning the ways of Omega street life. Like most young residents of the station, he was schooled at home and on the street. Seeing as how the only established educational facility is clear on the other side of the station, it was the only sound option. There were others before, but, well… It’s Omega. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Today, Korlu has come further downtown than he usually does. He was summoned by an email he received. It was addressed to him, personally and it was received between comm-buoy bursts so it must have been sent from someone on the station, but all that was in there the sender field was a long string of numbers. Korlu tried running a search on the sender, but nothing came up. The body of the message contained a precisely worded request. The sender, whoever it may be, wanted Korlu to pick up a package and to bring it to the docks. It was the second time he was asked to do something like this in the last month. Last time he was supposed to pick up a package from the docks and deliver it to a club in this part of town. Korlu wondered if it could be the same package. Wasn’t likely. Payment for this service had been wirelessly transferred to his account as soon as he opened the email. It was more than fair, but not suspiciously ridiculous. Korlu was always suspicious around large amounts of money. Probably had something to do with his uncle being a loan-shark.
There it is, the club he had last made the delivery to. Sure enough, the directions in the email led him down that same alleyway to the backdoor of the club. He came to a stop in front of the doorway and reached behind him to retrieve a plastic rod about thirty centimeters in length and four-and-a-half in diameter. He twisted the base and the rod extended, telescopically, to about a meter and a half. Korlu used the rod to ring the buzzer, otherwise out of his reach. It wasn’t long before a man answered the door. The man’s voice was deep and impatient, but not unkind, despite having to shout over the music inside. “You here about the package?” Korlu didn’t have to answer. His respirator continued to gasp. The man’s lower eyes narrowed and he disappeared from view for just a moment. When he returned, he was dragging a trolley behind him. As he approached the doorstep, he kicked a makeshift loading ramp into place. Korlu, jumped back a little, having not expected it and standing too close. The man at the door swung the trolley around in front of him and carefully wheeled it down the ramp. He positioned the trolley facing out of the alley, stood back and wiped his hands on his apron. There was a moment’s pause as both men stared at the brown tarp, covering the indescribable lump sitting on the cart. The man from the club put his hands on his hips and sighed. The moment went on a second-too-long. Both of them were wondering about the package. Neither of them knew what it was. Too secret to be picked up in person. Too small to be any sufficient supply of drugs or weapons. Too much money paid to be any other sort of contraband (not that anything is ACTUALLY illegal on Omega). It passed the docks’ bioscans with no life signs or organic components at all, for that matter. It could be a bomb, but that doesn’t explain all of the moving around and the odd destinations. There was a moment where each of them felt the urge to ask each other what the package was, but here, on Omega, they both knew it was smarter to keep their curiosity in check.
Korlu approached the cart and lowered the push-bar to a comfortable height. The man from the club turned and went back inside, closing the door behind him. This was the same cart Korlu used before, and presumably, the same package. It looked like it had not been touched. He cart had that same wobbly wheel that gave Korlu trouble when he had moved the package the first time. Well worth the money.
`This is money is going straight to my fund for a top-of-the-line respirator that will let me yell all I want.’

(continued from Omega downtown) Korlu took the recommended route to the docks. Specifically, the "Visitor wing" where all non-resident ships are supposed to dock. There he left the cart and package in plain sight, but out of the way of pedestrians, as instructed. It sat next to sealed luggage and produce crates. Before leaving the item untended, he pulled from his backpack a datapad. He scrolled through the email and ran through a mental checklist of specific requests to make sure he had done his job properly. Decidedly happy with his work, he left with the datapad under his arm. A moment later he paused, hearing a beep from his datapad indicating a new message. He checked his mail. Two new messages were in his inbox. One from the same stream of numbers, the other from his banker VI. His bank statement had been updated with the payment he was promised. With a little bonus even! The message from the client contained only the words “Thank you.” The timing meant he was being watched, but looking around, he saw only vagrants and the usual hustlers. Not a single soul out of the ordinary. Out of all of the shady jobs Korlu had done in his life, this was certainly the strangest.
Hours passed. The package remained unchanged at the visitor docks, inconspicuous to most. One Vorcha squatter was did peek under the tarp, looking for something to eat or trade. He ran away screeching. This caught the attention of a patrolling Turian man in armor, obviously part of one of the local enforcement groups. He approached the package that the Vorcha now fled and peeled back the tarp. He wasn’t sure what he was looking at, but a strange feeling came over him. He put the tarp back down. A feeling like he was forgetting something important. It was hard to focus. The only thought he could grasp was the texture of smooth plastic. He decided to go back to Afterlife and sit a while and let his head stop spinning.

# Afterlife Upper Level, 2011-06-30 20:55:01, as written by Blizzard
Niki was relaxing in Afterlife at this time of day(though relaxing was rather relative). The quarian was tense enough as it is, but the kind of company Afterlife keeps added to it. Still, it was good to get out of the apartment for a while. She sat up in the VIP section, in a booth overlooking the floor by herself. Most people, even on Omega, were keen to keep away from Quarians, and especially her. Niki was versed in the art of getting what she wanted without paying for it, though at this point in life she didn't need to. She was living comfortably, sailing off the money she'd sold the ship for, and what she had saved up. Still, she would need a job soon, and she knew it. She figured she might have to move her hang out to the Docks, though any stranger would never hire a quarian. She only hoped her reputation was enough that someone could recognize her without her needing to hold a sign saying "best pilot on Omega". Though, so long as her reputation included her race, she should be good; not many Quarians on Omega, and even less women.

One of the waiters came by and nearly passed her, before realizing the sterilized drink he had must be for her, the lone quarian. Niki took it and thanked him, gave him a small tip, and then checked it with her own meters. Assured it was 100% safe, she synced it to her suit where it underwent another test before finally touching her lips. All that preparation for a simple drink. She sighed and wished that she didn't have to live in this suit.

Kozz got his ass handed to him in his last fight, figuratively and literally limping, he figured that the best place he could get parts cheap, even 'free' was Omega because of the lack of laws. Pulling into the visitor's bay, he got his side-arm, and SMG, clipped them to his belt and made his way out of the ship, it was a long time since he was here last, and hoped that he wouldn't have to make frequent returns here. He ran a scan of what races were where, he could make some good deals with some races that others might start shooting at him for trying. The scans showed typical numbers but he ran it once or twice more to make sure that the Quarian reading wasn't a glitch, satisfied it wasn't and safe in the knowledge that a second Quarian on the ship would be good for both him and the ship, especially one who knew how to make the thing do more than fly on the axis, which would allow him to focus on shooting.

On his way up he was stopped briefly before the guard assumed that he knew the Quarian upstairs, Kozz played on the slight racism and got a free pass up to where she was, apparently, the 10 credits helped too. He approached the mysterious Quarian, "Odd place, for a Quarian this, but suppose we all gotta live somewhere. This seat taken ?"

Most Alliance soldiers stick out in a crowd. Their training and appearance normally give it all away. Especially when they start talking. Their military manner just starts pouring out of their mouths once they start talking. In a place like Afterlife in Omega is positively not a good idea for any Alliance soldier unless that person has a death wish of course. Now Lt. Jack Steele wasnt any normal Alliance soldier. He was wearing his armor but it didn't look Alliance at all. He looked more mercenary than anthing else. The one thing that made him stick out was the fact that Steele did not drink any alcohol whatsoever. He was always getting funny looks because he was drinking the bar's equivilent of orange soda. But Steele had an inimidating stare. All of the drink questioners would always scuttle away quickly after looking at Steele's eyes.

Steele scanned the area for the hundredth time. He noticed two Quarians, which was an amazing sight because you would always just see one at a time. They normally were very exceptional with handling technology. Jack started thinking about assembling a team. After all he is by himself and a team is needed to do many things. But he'd have to think about what he needs to do. Especially on his current mission.

Lt. Steele was assigned to assasinate a known pirate that was known for attacking Alliance ships with no mercy. Now this is no easy task to take out Alliance ships. This pirate ,Code name: Tick, had to be powerful. Jack started getting a head ache. He just decided to lay low and enjoy his drink.

Curator entry)

Out in the reaches of Dark space sits an armada of to the untrained eye “asteroids” to those who had been present at Sarens attack, Reapers. At the side, barely distinguishable, sits Curator, the reaper strategist who would plan and prepare the tactics necessary for their victory following the Arrival, but currently a report of change was being made.

Report: 17089 492-43X
The drell “Seni” is quick to indoctrination, his report at times even has several areas that marks me as his master, the implants have been efficient. The information however is useful, the weakening of the Citadels defences allow the use of several plans, the main currently being “12x 998 x 352”. for plans to be moved forward however, direct intervention may be necessary. Final data of the systems updating.

Reaper system power:
Weapons: 100%
Shields: 100%
Numbers: 78% ( ships have been lost, unacceptable)
Formation power decrease: 2%
Heralds: 27 throughout the systems
Direct control of updated Protheans: 100%

In conclusion plans have been delayed and control of Seni may be necessary, unleashing of weapons may be necessary.

Database update: Stored

Holodisk entry:
Audio: Seni, activity in Omega has been high monitor and send reports within the next cycle.

Package: grapple hook: use for avoidance of cameras, if you are found punishment shall be severe

(Herald entry)

Sitting on his standard chair, Seni considered the reports in his hands. Nothing, that’s what had been happening on the citadel all week, nothing. His Mas- Employer wouldn’t be impressed. Standing from his chair he began his rtrek back to his apartment massaging his temples the whole way, worried why he kept on saying master when referencing his anonymous “sponsor”. He remembered receiving the holodisk, audio only, a threatening voice offering him what he would need to show the rest of the vermin at C-sec just what he could do. Then came the implants, he couldn’t remember getting them, only waking up to find them running up his arm to his brain with small bumps under the scales. The holodisk explained the biotic he now had “throwback” to his eyes powerful, to more experienced biotics, not so much. He entered his home and sent the data via Extranet to an unknown Ip, from there it would be passed to a database via relay, he just hoped this information was helpful, he remembered the burning sensation he got when he almost got caught.

"Odd place, for a Quarian this, but suppose we all gotta live somewhere. This seat taken?" Niki was interrupted from her thoughts by the slightly distorted voice characteristic of a fellow Quarian. She looked up, the image of a Quarian enviro-suit filling her eyes. He was male, and his suit was primarily red or crimson, but it was hard to tell exactly because of the atmosphere of Afterlife. The seat wasn't taken, and he was right in that it was an odd place for a Quarian, himself included, so she motioned for him to sit.

Niki leaned back in her seat. "Odd place for a Quarian indeed. Niki'Vael, Pilot. The best pilot on Omega, in fact." She leaned forward again. She could feel the human mannerisms in her, and it felt more normal than it did years ago. "What exactly do you want?" She learned early on that only through being direct did you get good responses.

He sat in the empty seat, and was slouching back. She was straight to the point, that was good, "Name's Kozz’Goran, I'm looking for a good pilot, and Engineer, and figured that you would be a good idea, and I have a hit planned that would be good pay for you, then from there you can decide whether or not you want to stay on board or come back here."

A waiter approached him, "Same as her, if you don't mind, thanks." He awaited her reply and his drink quietly.

Arriving at Omega, Seni docked his ship, a small C-sec brand vehicle, small but fast. jumping out and inconspicuously walking towards Afterlife, he considered how long it would take to climb the walls, rushing about ten minutes, hopefully quick enough for no one to notice.

Finding himself at the back of Omegas Afterlife he flung his recently acquired grapple hook onto the top of the wall and began a quick pull to the top. After roughly 10 minutes he got onto the catwalks and prepared his Omni tool to record data around key points before moving in close to Aria’s position, in moments she tilted her head up and smiled before all he could see was blackness. Awakening a small time later the first thing in sight was leather boots, trailing his eyes up through the flamboyant outfit he finally met the eyes of Aria, the self proclaimed ruler of Omega. “Well drell, before I just decide to have you killed ill give you a chance, tell me why you were sneaking around up there . your weapons weren’t long range enough to hit me properly, and any who would try such a thing would be prepared. Who sent you” finished Aria with a cradling his head softly before letting go and giving him a quick boot to the chest. “None of your business, you Asari whore” spat the arrogant Drell, who figured he could stand up to her, and if all else failed his employer wouldn’t just let him die, he was too valuable, Right? Annoyed Aria dropped the caring voice and simply harshly said “normally I may have let someone with the quad to call me that live, as an example of course. But I’m in a bad mood and your death may take off the edge” shoving her pistol in his face she laughingly gave him a quickl “see you across the sea little drell” before firing. “get him out of here, his armour was C-sec send them a note and a bribe, I doubt they hardly will miss the arrogant little annoyance” spat an agitated Aria who sat back upon her couch and looked upon the current activities of her club.

Waiting till Seni’s corpse was dumped by Aria's thugs, Curator finally took over and was hit with the smell of dying flesh. A minor inconvenience, by luck Curator was near the docks, this one would need to leave and change the facial pattern of Seni to avoid suspicion by parties such as C-sec, nearly missing it Curator noticed the package sitting near the ships, saving progress from the Omni tools last function this one scanned the unusual package, nothing, but to be certain this one checked under the tarp, quickly detecting a need to look away Curator forced Seni’s eyes to look upon it , activating biotic implanted eyes, that Seni didn’t even realise he had, Curator knew what it was and ran activation programs.

Kaerina Hollis, just months after her incident with the Blue Suns merc group, was finally up and out of recovery. Although she lost both of her legs at the knee, some restructuring done on her shoulder, and the new cybernetic eye that was still disorienting for her, she forced herself to go into Afterlife to request some space from Aria for her new crew to be hired on for a space journey.
"Hey you! You know you have to wait for Aria to call you." The bouncer says angrily to the human before him. Kaerina nods towards the Bouncer, responding quietly, "I know what I have to do. I will head in and take a seat 'til she's ready. My friends should be waiting for me in there."
With that, she calmly hobbled around the bouncer, looking for Mordecai, her 'doctor', and her close friend Praagg. She spies the Salarian and Krogan sitting in a corner and finds a seat next to them, ordering a drink as soon as she could.

[OOC] Anonym0109

Computers busted, he will be absent for a few more days. Lost most of his projects, which is why it will take longer for him to come back.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Always good to have more players, but we really need to talk about that character idea. You're not the first and I doubt you'll be the last. Drop me a line with some IM handles.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Hello, may I join this RP?

I haven't played any of the ME games, but I fully understand the storyline, characters, technology, gameplay, etc. Actually, I probably know more than your average (non-RPing, because us RPers are obligated to know everything) ME player.

Anyway, I plan to make a character who's a Reaper; specifically, Requiem, who was more or less the war commander of the Reapers (he led them head-first into battle). A human (who most of the RPing will be done with) was Indoctrinated and is now used by Requiem for... well, just messing around and killing, really. If that Indoctrinated dies, he just gets another.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Anywhere, anytime. The thing is, we are specific down to the establishment. If the building is large, then we might divide the chambers into different zones. Let me know if you need a location built.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Any idea where i should introduce mu character?

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Sure. It isn't my best character i have written since was sick when i wrote it. I will send you my skype handle and we can talk about it.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Not to be discouraging, but the character needs a lot of work. For instance, can someone explain the thing about languages? I know I or someone else has been over it with nearly all of you. I'm not sure who approved it, but they didn't table it first. Give me a skype or YIM handle and a time you'll get on and we'll hammer out the illogical details together. I personally would like to have you as a participant, but the character needs to fit the possibilities of the universe.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

ill put in a good word for ya

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

I hope my character gets accepted

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

That would be awesome walking around saying things like, "Hateful: I will kill you."

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

or an elcor, that would be horrible.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

Try roleplay an hanar that would be even worse i think. Always being polite and speaking in third person. :P

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

no problem friend, i suggest however that you keep some emotion as i know from experience how hard it is to be a mech, im a reaper after all, not easy remembering to not refer to yourselve as "this one" instead of a simple i.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

You have a point ChaosBlade. I made him a bit emotional since it would be hard to play a completely emotionless character, but I think I will change him since it would fit the story more.
Thanks for the pointer.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

intresting story, however Mechs cannot experience true emotion and from what i read your loki model knows about emotion upon the death of his father fiqure, this emplys that the mech feels emotion, the mech paid for the mans funeral, this would be an illogical waste of credits and therefore would not match the AI class. I sugest changing some things, perhaps instead of a mech you could create a hybrid character? or mabye he could be programmed to do all this? emotional driving just dosent match an A.I, i suggest editing it unless Anoym allows these..... unusual parameters,

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

so, basically youre going for a legged Johnny five.

Re: [OOC] MASS EFFECT fear.

He is a prototype AI that is not restricted to a certain type of computer(quantum bluebox or something like that.) Also he has the ability to split himself into multiple parts like one is in a mech body and one is in the ships central computer. This prevents him from dying if one of them is destroyed.
